For perks and gameplay? Definitely artist. Pain resonance is a strong perk and artist a solid killer. Bonus points if you later get deathslinger for dead man's switch and use both perks with artist.
For lulz? Hellraiser. Pinhead isn't strong, but he is really fun to play as, plus plaything isn't half bad with pentimento.

I don't think that would work here.
I have seen a lot of very vocal members of this community celebrating the occasion, rightfully so.
If behavior had just silently make the change, then there would have been accusations of behavior trying "shadow gay him", and questioning about whether they were trying to keep it hush hush. Nonsense of course, but that's what would happen.

Well. I'm glad for the members of the community who wanted this and for their wish granted.

Actually no I don't. As survivor I don't care if I die, as long as I get to do things in the match like a generator or 2, cleanse totems, get some heals & unhooks, etc. As killer, I'm fine with 2k or 3k matches too, but what bugs me is why make certain killers unfeasible for getting Red 1 killer rank? I'm a Michael main and if I want to play solely as him for a "season" to try to get to Red 1 rank, it won't happen because he's too slow & against some of the better players and SWF teams, it would take him too long to get enough kills to get control of the match. Meanwhile someone like Pyramidhead is a lot more versatile & reliable to get that Red 1 rank if a player would stick solely to him. Just his cage of atonement (if you get survivors to walk on his trails) bypasses the need to pick up & hook survivors which turned out to be impossible in a match I had on RPD a couple nights ago when I was trying to take a Yui to hook and couldn't move her 10m without her wiggling out every time. Not to mention his built in mori that he can do after a survivor reached the 2nd phase and is affected by his trail.
I think killers should be balanced more so that if someone wanted to solely play as any one of them, they could get that Red 1 rank with whoever they like best rather than have to use killers they don't like/enjoy as much.
Hey again. I just wanted to make a quick correction, because you made a somewhat false statement.
As a matter of fact it's completely possible to get only 2k every match (as killer, obviously) and play casually and still pip all the way to iridescent 1 rank. I know this because I have done so for some time now, and it's actually a very chill experience and not that difficult at all.
-
Agreed. But, shorten it's timer then. Or give the survivor an incapacitated effect for its duration.

Oh You found MY box? Hold my beer, I'll be there in a second.
So, you think you can dodge my chainsaw? No, with those chains stuck on your face, you won't.

Ok, lemme give you a scenario that actually happened to me as Doc on Blood Lodge once against a 4 man SWF that all knew how to loop.
Game starts and all 4 of them are together in the middle tbagging and/or doing clicky-clicky. None of them is afraid to get chased, there is NO weak link. I start a chase with one of them, I hear the sound of a Boon go off in the distance while they loop me, 2 gens pop and I am finally about to down em (no pallets let on that edge of the map, they used their DH) and right then 2 people come in body blocking me. My original target manages to get into another safe zone and the other 2 also split up into new safe zones. Meanwhile another gen popped...
I go for one of the two who took hits, meanwhile the other 2 healed up and they do the same thing again, when I am about to down my target, they come to take hits. This time however I manage to down someone. Another gen pops in the distance (means its 1 gen left).
I know the two clicky-clicky are around to attempt a flashlight safe and cause they are super cocky, I mange to get a three people slug. The last guy comes to the rescue and I go for him, down him quickly but someone had Unbreakable and he picked up the other 2. They are already there ready to fl safe the one I just downed. I slug one of them again while I chase the last guy who still tries to attempt a fl safe. Meanwhile the last guy popped the last gen...
I return to pick up one slug (the other one got picked up already, thanks to another Unbreakable...) only to realize they crawled into a corner. One person bodyblocks me after I pick the survivor up so I have to hit em to even be able to move. Meanwhile the other two healed up as well, coming in to take hits as well. The person wiggles off and I simply give up and open the exit gate.
They stay in there tbagging and flashlight clicky-clicky the whole time of the egc as well and now tell me how this match was a "skill issue" please. If you are matched with 4 people of equal skill where there is no weak link and you aren't playing a top tier killer with full meta perks?
Against the power of true friendship, there can be no victory for evil.

I'm sorry, but this is getting beyond irritating. Every match I play the killer tunnels the first person out immediately, and half of the time that person is me. DS doesn't even help because they'll just take the hit and go straight after you again. And the funny part is that the killer doesn't tunnel anyone else, just the first person. I would like to have a chance to actually play the game, thank you.
don't take it personally, its just that if you manage to kill one of the survivors fast enough then the killer can enjoy the rest of the match. I dont like to do this anymore, because I no longer care to get 4ks or stomps, but I can understand a killer that wants to actually enjoy the chases and the game without having to forfeit the possibility of a victory for doing so or constantly feel like he is fighting against a collapsing building, just a tiny mistake away from total devastation.

lol, yeah, that happens to me too when I play nemesis.
In one of my last matches, my zombie blocked my hook. Thanks, traitor. :D
Honestly, I think a lot of fun moments happen with nemesis zombies. They are just that way.
Recently I had another game with nemesis, very close match, but not that sweaty, overall very fun game. Close to end game it was down to 2 survivors, one of them very, very skilled but on death hook from trying to draw the aggro and the other quite a potato, but he tried to help and whom I had more or less ignored, both paintballed. There was 1 Gen left and they managed to get the Gen very close to complete, so I interrupt them, the Gen goes boom, and I down the potato and hook him.
The other one I knew was around but wasn't visible so I go to try and find him. He sneaks close to the hook but not close enough, so I whip him as he unhooks. The potato darts away but the other one actually tries to catch my attention. Realizing he had choosen to trade his life for the other one, I honor his wish and decide to chase him and let him die a hero, I wasn't hell bent on getting 4k so I didn't mind.
Chase starts, I catch up, he dead hards for distance and makes it to a pallet and window tile and just as the chase starts to get good, the other guy goes down. Apparently a zombie was attracted to the generator by the earlier explosion and was waiting just around the corner.
The guy just stopped mid chase and turns around like saying #########? I turn too and see the zombie standing over the potato, turn back and see the other guy looking at me, drops his toolbox. It was a "can you believe this"? Moment between us both. I go back punch the zombie and just let them escape.
I learned later that they were 2 friends playing together, one veteran and the other who was just talked into trying DBD recently.
Fun times with nemesis all around.
-
Also as nemesis, being being bodyblocked by my own zombies when going through shack door while carrying a survivor. They allowed the survivor to escape. Toxic zombies. But it was fun.
-
Well, she obviously isn't invincible, but perks exist and with the right combination she can be very scary in chase.
I have found lots of success with enduring, spirit fury, bamboozle and pain resonance. Essentially forces survivors to cleanse or die trying to loop.

So a few attentive people may recognise this from a comment I made yesterday (technically it was 24 minutes into today but let's not talk semantics). A couple of people suggested I make it a real post because "That's an excellent guide, very well put together." So, here I am. I've added a few more things so it's still worth a read.
This will cover what is, in my opinion, his best build and why, as well as a few tips on playing him & a few videos.
So hey, it's me- GoodBoyKaru, your friendly neighbourhood Pyramid Head main- here to give some swift Tips and Tricks(tm) to help make you a better Pyramid Head player!
For the record, this was made during DBD Patch 4.7.2
Build
PERKS
My personal favourite and imho strongest build is this:
- Corrupt Intervention
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5A01IV8RME2M/image.png
Crucial early-game slowdown on a killer without mobility, allows him to stall the game massively because survivors know that if they get found they're doomed.
- Pop Goes The Weasel
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FHA7ZFNAKVZY/image.png
It's the second best gen regression perk in the game, Ruin is too volatile to be anywhere near reliable on him because, again, no movement speed, he needs gen perks because he cannot move around the map quick enough, 11/10. "But you don't hook pe-" WRONG. You should be getting plenty of value out of PGTW and if you're overcaging then you're taking your map pressure and throwing it out the window.
- Barbeque and Chili
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SC8THLXSY3RP/image.png
Now, you could obviously put other perks here like Infectious Fright (amazing snowball), Tinkerer (Undetectable is nice and it helps tell you where to go but again no movement speed) or Discordance (amazing info, can sometimes do nothing about it). However I say BBQ because I like the perk and also because bloodpoints.
- I'm All Ears
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V90CSL0I44NO/image.png
Hands down the best perk in the game for Pyramid Head, that's six seconds of wallhacks. I cannot stress how valuable this is with his power- that is a guaranteed free hit in 9/10 situations. To show what I mean, I've linked a timestamped video below of where IAE comes in so clutch- continues to 5:16 in the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=296s
(you can watch the whole thing if you really want I'm proud of the game).
An honourable mention here goes to Ruin/Undying over Pop/Corrupt. As I've mentioned before, Tinkerer isn't a great perk on him due to his lack of speed, but the same goes for Ruin/Undying. You don't have the map mobility to defend your totems, especially if they spawn further away, and you'll probably end up losing two perks before 2 gens go. Corrupt/Pop is just more consistent in my experience.
ADD-ONS
So, his add-ons aren't great. The best ones, by far, are range add-ons which, when combined, extend his POTD by up to 2.5m (10.5m total). These are Burning Man Painting (Rare), Wax Doll (Uncommon), and Black Strap (Common), which ass +1.5m, +1m, and +0.5m respectively.
tips
Okay so rule number one is to not break pallets. Sounds weird but, just trust me.
His power is incredibly strong in a chase- so much so that if a survivor commits to an animation they die. If you don't break pallets (with some exceptions like God pallets) you can do amazing things. Because who doesn't want more opportunities to win a chase, like, instantly? It turns incredibly safe pallets into death sentences
To show what I mean, here's another timestamped clip. Ends at 10:58
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu3X5o9GpjY&t=646s
Learn the range of the power. 8m is specific and sometimes you think you can hit things and you can't. You need to be very careful, especially when playing with range add-ons for so long, because it can and will screw with your perception.
Adapt to the survivors you're facing. A lot of players will fake taking an animation, go to the side slightly to bait your POTD or your cancel, and then commit to the animation. If you turn to the side and release, you'll catch a lot of these survivors out and get a hit. It's really satisfying to do. Alternatively some survivors will commit to the animations regardless, in which case you'll know to aim in the centre. Other survivors will just hold W and pre-drop pallets, in which case you know to leave them because you'll really struggle catching up, or do not use your power.
I cannot stress that enough. If a survivor is pre-dropping W key gaming, do not use your power. M1 killer them.
Don't overcage and don't stress about torment. If a survivor loops you, they'll get tormented. That's just kinda how it works- you stick your knife in, follow them around a loop, and release your POTD after tracking their movements.
To see what I mean we return to the first video, again timestamped. Clip ends at 1:36.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=83s
See how I hug the car, turn the camera and use the power to hit him out of animation lock? Had he kept running, easy torment too.
In my opinion, only cage someone in one of four scenarios:
- You're afraid of a DS (just please don't tunnel I'm begging you)
- You're afraid of an Unbreakable (much more likely)
- You can immidiately get into another chase
- It would place you into a Pressure Point Of No Return (name pending).
What I mean by that last point is that there comes a time in a DBD game where the killer will hit a Pressure Point Of No Return, where the survivors physically cannot come back from the amount of pressure and momentum you're building. The best example of this as Pyramid Head is where you split the map through cages. You have two downed survivors. Cage one, hook the other. Nobody is on a generator, you have a BBQ proc to interrupt the person saving the cage or the hook, and now the last person must save both people. On especially large maps, like Mother's Dwelling, or multi-storied ones, like Midwich, this can force people into second stage and you've won the game at 5 gens. It's more common than you'd think.
If you cage at other times you're probably wasting pressure you could've gotten from a hook.
Learn where you can and can't lay trails. In front of totems and lockers? Amazing. In front of a gen? Not at all, it becomes a Restricted Trail Element and disappears after a few seconds. The DBD Wiki has a section on this which I'll just paste below.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2808XTGCLSHV/image.png
I'd highly, highly suggest reading the wiki page on his power as it's really useful in understanding the fundamentals and giving actual values to words. Here it is:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Pyramid_Head
Finally, learn where you can and can't use POTD. It sounds like a simple thing but learning where you can and can't use it, however there's a lot to it. For example, learning how vertical changes affect it. Did you know if you release his power on a slope going up it'll fail, same with releasing it on a slope going down. However, if you're barely off of the slope it'll travel down it, but only if it isn't too steep.
It's nuts but knowing where you can and can't actually have an ability is, funnily enough, pretty important.
A few more quick-fire tips:
- Don't just go for animation lock shots. People expect these and adapt. Be unpredictable to catch them off guard and get easy hits. Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1k10I-zG4&feature=emb_logo
Bet they didn't expect that one :p
Needless to say that was where I hit a Pressure Point Of No Return and poor Jakey couldn't pick up the scraps.
- Don't spam his power. You waste too much time. Be precise, predict, and adapt to your opponents.
- Don't spam his trails. You move at 110% and you already lack a movement ability, you waste too much time.
- Tunneling isn't the best strategy. I know it seems like it because cages but again, you do not have a movement ability. Survivors can and will facefuck generators and ruin your day substantially.
- Dead Dawg Saloon and Hawkins are both maps you never press M2 on ever. Play like a default M1 killer because the map design prevents you from using your power. They're pretty much auto-loss maps, ngl, unless the survivors really badly mess up.
- Play survivor. Learn where survivors move and how they path, shoot POTD to hit them. That's what I did in that last clip.
And, yeah, that's about it. If people have any questions please let me know and I'll try to answer them as best I can, though I think this is comprehensive enough.
Hey, I just wanted to thank you properly. Some time ago you helped me with your Pyramid guide and now I'm a very happy Pyramid main and getting great results with him. Im very, very hyped on seeing your updated guide.
Anyway, I also wanted to contribute some, though I'm obviously nowhere as experienced as everyone else, but I have been experimenting with a lot of different perk and addon combinations and I have found one that has proven to be very, very fun. I dont know how effective it would be on the highest echelon of MMR, but it has worked very well for me and mixes up the game quite a bit.
It is a hex only build I like to call the "torturer build"
It consists of Hex: Plaything, Hex: pentimento, Hex: thrill of the hunt and Hex: Ruin.
Combined with mannequin foot and music box, which increases the duration of trails for 35 seconds total.
The general idea is to use the extra durable trails to guard your totems, with thrill of the hunt giving you enough time to actually get to where the survivor is in case it happens far away.
At the start, you move quickly to trail your ruin and trill hexes. If they are close to you, swell, if they are not, you are probably moving in the general direction of the survivors anyway and might even interrupt a cleansing attempt. Then pressure people off gens, and get in a chase. granted it is a weak early game, but when you start hooking people and they get playthinged, they really start to panic. No one wants to spend the trial with oblivious, and they are already concerned with ruin. Suddenly you have them running around the map trying to cleanse ruin or the playthings and abandoning gens and putting themselves in very dangerous situations, struggling to even finish cleasing something and only succeeding when several cleansing attempts happen at the same time (I always move to protect either ruin or thrill and let the playthings go). Then the pentimentos start to go up. normally its a meh perk, but I actually get a ton of value from it because the survivors often don't want to risk cleasing them and just try to soldier through the slowdown (I find experienced players do this more, less experienced ones will actually try to cleanse those, a death sentence usually). I can often hold 2 or even 3 pentimentos and in more or less half my games ruin survives the trial or lasts for so long that they already lost.
I find it effective, but I would love to see how it fares against the true elite of high MMR (looks intently), and either way is just so cruel and so much fun. Also very "on lore". Pyramid is all about punishing and well, you touch my hexes, I punish you.
Like I said, I just wanted to contribute some to the Pyramid head community (though I don't know how much use this is) and express my apreciation for your oustanding work.
I wish there where more awesome guides like this for other killers

You do realize that you're implying that all the killers that have little chance to get a 4k against better players are pretty much pointless in the big picture, right? Which means DBD is mostly a waste of money because it mostly contains killers who may be fun at the beginning when others don't know how to play against them, but afterwards just collect dust & are useless against better survivors & SWF teams. And the ironic thing is that rather than fixing the long standing issues of the game, BHVR just focuses on adding more mostly useless killers who will in the long run be worthless against SWF teams. The purpose of adding all those weak killers is defeated.
Hi again.
Actually no, I'm not. I will elaborate, however I don't think we will ever agree because we see this game's "point" very diferently.
From your statements I can surmise that you not only consider that the only fun in playing DBD is always winning, but that you actually think only 4k stompings are a win and that any killer that cannot 4k consistenly is a waste of time.
This is why I suggested that for you, and you in particular, the answer to your chagrin would be to master either of the only two killers that can do this consistenly.
Personally I consider 3ks a nice win, though I have, for some time now, stopped getting 4ks and 3ks even when I can. I almost always let at least 2 survivors go and I enjoy my trials very much. For instance I have been playing Harpoonslinger recently and, though he is slow and lacks map pressure (probably because I still have it at lvl 17) I just have a lot of fun playing turkey shot with the survivors. So much that I actually forget about everything else and just keep shooting at people until suddenly all gens are done (when did that happen?) or everyone stops moving (whoops)
So no, I did not imply those killers are pointless. Only for you.
Thus, try nurse or blight, those will give you what you want to have fun IF you have the skills. If you find you cannot master them, well, I sincerely, non-confrontationally, unironically suggest you do find a different game that allows you to enjoy it.
Best of luck to you and may you nurse blink always strikes true. And first!!!
-
Definitely kindred. Windows, sprint burst and decisive strike, or borrowed time if you're feeling altruistic. A good medkit will have you covered on the healing department on site and on demand or a good toolbox if you are feeling like sabotaging.
As a killer I would find this survivor challenging and efficient in all forms of killer interaction, but also very enjoyable to chase.
Might have to abandon chase though, if you manage to get me with a 99ed SB, but I can't be mad at it.
-
Sorry to see you are not enjoying the game. Maybe you could learn to play nurse or blight so you can win consistently, or perhaps try a different game where you can win every time?
It's really not worth it getting angry over a game
-
No, please. Conceptually sounds cool, but the idea of chasing a survivor through the cornfield or the swamp grass in the middle of a downpour with my tunnel vision killer is just too much to bear.
We really need a perk that lets us force the survivors to wear a sodium lamp on their backs
-
Gameplay whise pyramid head. But overall I still like plague more.
There is something satisfying about everyone puking uncontrollably when they see you.

Does FPS stands for First Person Survivor?
In a serious note, if you want FPS, play deathslinger
-
Like stalk, except, when full the survivor bursts into flames.
However, the gauge decreases whenever you are not looking at the survivor. When burning the survivor takes an immediate health state hit and continues to burn. When the burning meter fills (which happens passively), the survivor is downed.
The survivor can put itself out via 8 seconds interaction, or an ally can do so quickly via 3 seconds interaction.
Survivors that are burning will scream constantly and have their vision severely impaired as well as become incapacitated, but their base speed will become 4.2 meters.
A survivor can only be downed by burning twice in same trial.
Secondary ability: every time a survivor stuns or blinds her, she gains a rage token up to 6 tokens. Carrie can exchange her tokens to activate her wrath ability, exploding herself and her surroundings on flames. Survivors inside the onslaught will start burning and become stunned for 2 seconds, but will not take a health state.
Special mini mori, when a survivor on death hook is downed while burning, carrie may stoke the flames, burning the survivor to death on the spot.
-
I don't use NOED, I just don't get much value from it but I firmly believe that NOED is fine. Also DH is fine.
Does every survivor who uses DH is making up for a mistake? No its not. Most of the time is a premeditated decision made in the knowledge that they have that tool. Sure, sometimes it is used to recover from a bad move, but not most of the time and in this situation almost always a second mistake will be made.
Does every NOED killer uses it to make up for losing the game? No, many use it as a premeditated strategy that comes to fruition in the endgame, with complementing perks and that requires early and midgame setting (pallet clearing, 1 or 2 hooks on everyone) so you blitz the survivors and snowball.
Getting to endgame with 2 hooks and a bunch of safe pallets still standing is going to end up with a 4e, NOED or not, 1k if the planets align.
Is it used by less skilled killers who play with a mind that they already lost and want to secure 1 kill? Sure, but I don't think it's the majority if people keep saying it's such a problem, because these players are gonna get stomped regardless 9 out of 10 and are not perceived as a problem.
-
It needs something. At least a button prompt saying "press E to Escape". As is now, some people prefer to not use DS right away.
-
Without incentive to play the mode you propose, not many people would even try it, certainly I don't see anyone playing it assiduously, ever, so finding a match would be a problem.
Also I get the idea of test driving a killer's power, but I don't think anyone needs to test drive a survivor. They are just skins, if you understand how a perk works (which is not hard) thats all you need to know, so I don't see why anyone would load into this mode as survivor, let alone the 4 people necessary for a match.
I like the spirit of the idea, but it would just be simpler to have custom games with bots and let you try content you haven't purchased on it.
-
I really like saloon's upper walls as they are. Several times I have chased a survivor into the closed rooms only for them to realize they are, well closed, and that I'm standing in the doorway/window watching their realization.
Specially hilarious when they look at you and drop their item xD.
The ones on badham main building are also pretty important and should be managed at discretion of the killer.
-
I got accused of hacking by a new player (I assume) who went around the map cleansing my hex totems, but apparently they kept "regenerating"
Had to explain that's how plaything and pentimento work.
-
No. If they take this away, they will no longer waste their time hiding in the closet and survivors without it will stop trying to fake it.
I don't usually resort to tunnel, but in situations where the unhooked is the only one in sight, or in a vulnerable position, I'm certainly going after them and I don't care to wait out the DS.
Players who use this often do it very early during chase instead of going in a proper chase and I have gotten a surprising amount of free hooks of players who fake it. Either way, you are skipping the chase, so it's always a net win for the killer.
Why renounce to this?
-
I kinda like CoH when playing wraith. It works like a fish net.
Sucker punch a survivor, cloack, run to the boon, wait 5 seconds, claim your prize. No vaults, no pallets.
It only works 2 or 3 times in the same trial, but that's OK, because afterwards they either renounce to the boon or start being very careful when going for heals, trying to figure out if you are there or not and end up loosing a lot of time. Win - win for me.
-
Survivors killed while infected spawn once as zombies. XD
That would be very fun.
-
I play a lot of The Lord of the rings online. Actually my go to game, with DBD being my secondary game. Aside, anything that catches my attention.
I'm big fan of the resident evil and final fantasy franchises. Ori, owlboy and Dust an elysian tail were also great. The elder scrolls and fallout games too. Subnautica and no man's sky also got their run.
Currently playing lotro, dbd and tomb raider reboot series.

@GannTM said:
I’d recommend finding a specific killer you enjoy and stick with them. You will enjoy them so much that winning and losing doesn’t matter that much. That’s what I did with Spirit.
This. Definitely best advice. I was having a similar experience as you (since I'm also a fairly new player) I couldn't get my bearings with playing killer and survivor was just not for me at all. I even had my time with the "meta" killers (nurse, spirit, blight) and still unfun.
Eventually I decided to watch some vids (red's killer mentality videos helped me a lot) and found two killers that appealed to me, which are pyramid head (my main) and plague.
Now I'm really enjoying playing killer. Do I win 4k every time? No, but I feel much more responsible what happens in the match and enjoy the interactions with the survivors whether they are clearly overskilled relative to me or not. Also starting to get really good at them in my opinion.
If CoH is your main issue plague just shutdowns all healing hard, though she has caveats and issues of her own, the most important being an abysmal BP gain potential (definitely not a killer to farm)
Otherwise, use killers with strong chase and tunneling or instadown. Healing doesn't matter if most of your chases end with a down.

He can be very good. Or a m1 killer with no power.
All depends on skill. I have been using possessed chain with lots of success even against skilled survivors. But it took practice.
Similarly, the box is great at the very least as secondary objective, which lets you distract them.
I find plaything and pentimento to work very well to add even more objectives to the survivors and overwhelm them.
Those two perks have worked the best for me against skilled teams.

Check this wraith guide. It's up to date and very helpful.

Crosshair? Where's that option on my console?
There isn't, but the actual tip of the whip when is ready is actually pointing to the center of the screen, where the whip is going to strike, so you can use it as a crosshair, to aim at the survivor. Kinda like this.
You use the whip for aiming, it helped me immensely to play nemesis with a controller.

Little trick with nemesis. When you ready the tentacle, the tip of the tentacle is actually aimed to where the whip will hit. Using as a crosshair helped me enormously to aim his power.

Not my main, but I would really like to be able to freely steer the camera when coming out of a TV with the onryo. As it is now, the tiny speed boost is wasted because I'm still figuring out where to go to unless the survivor is literally standing right in front of the TV.

You can't derank, that is true, but you CAN depip. ex. You CANNOT depip from Silver 4 to Bronze 1, but you CAN depip from Silver 1 all the way down to Silver 4. Depipping is still a thing, they just made it less of an issue, but still an issue regardless, as you can still lose potential bloodpoint rewards from the rank reset; that's the annoying part.
I believe this is incorrect. As far as I know, at worst, from silver 1 you can go all the way down to... Silver 1,with no pips. You can't drop to silver 2, let alone silver 4.

Like others have said, tooth and letal pursuer can help you get a feel how the box spawns at the start. BBQ is great too for midgame.
Quick tip for BBQ, if you down someone and the box is close to spawn, wait for a bit and hook after the spawn you will able to definitely tell where the box is with almost certainty.
After a while you will be confident to just slug, go pressure a nearby survivor or Gen and then return if the box is several seconds away from spawning.
Also pay a lot of attention when you do use the box. It will reveal all survivors locations and then spawn 5 seconds later and start the chain hunt. By keeping tabs on where the survivors were, you can tell where the box is spawning and proxy keep tabs on it so that when someone goes for it you can get to them quickly.
Plaything and pentimento are awesome on pinhead as they add additional secondary objectives the survivors can't ignore and can help catch survivors off guard as they move around the map in panic.

Amazing they actually made it through the door instead of just getting stuck looking through the window. You, are a lucky person. Not the kind of luck you want, but still.

Meh. If it's in your nature to give hatch and whatnot, the actions of other people, misguided as they might be, should not bear enough weight on your psyche so as to change your behavior.
If it's not, there is little purpose in trying to justify it as if it was pushed on to you.
Wonder which is it.

While I agree that they are mostly useless, I do remember a game against a swf with 4 claudette that brought these along a grim pantry addon and it was a really fun climatic trial. Honestly that was largely due to them just kinda wanting to goof around.
I think they were recording an trying to see what they could get away with in front of the killer and after a bit of adjusting it lead to some really fun situations like finding one of them pretending to be a rock xD.
They did get gens done, but weren't rushing so I didn't feel pressed to be super efficient and ended up getting 2 hooks on everyone and couldn't bring myself to sacrifice any of them in the end.

Chucky as a killer. Would be like entering a trial with Victor but not Charlotte XDDDDD.
Perhaps a Victor skin as chucky and nothing more?
-
Could be hacks, but same one in different games sounds fishy. Are you SURE none of your friends is subtly hacking?

By far my biggest gripe about MMR is this: what was the killer's MMR vs the survivor's MMR? Was this a good match or a bad match in terms of MMR? We have no way of knowing. All we can do when a match like this happens is say "Hey, this sucked" in general terms. It's such a bizarre thing to be stubborn about. The lack of transparency is only pissing people off and it's getting worse as time goes on. They system isn't going to go the way of the original vision. It's not going to happen. They can accept that players want certain things out of it or continue to hide the system behind smoke and mirrors while losing players.
My biggest gripe is that when a killer is paired with 4 similarly skilled survivors the game almost always ends with 0k stomp or 1k struggle. And I don't think it's supposed to be that way.
