  • Yeah. Sometimes I just don't feel like killing the survivors, but I accidentally do. Would be great to be able to see them.

  • Soooo.... Good players run only meme perks and win every time, yes?

  • I recall someone calling it pimento once. Hilarious how the thread got derailed because of it.

  • When the last totem lights up, all players are transported to leviathan's maze and the cenobites join the trial.

  • I'm a 90% killer main and only play survivor in Solo queue for tome and dailies.

I like this map. Sure I lose when my teammates or myself are less skilled than our killer, but I don't feel like it's the map's fault. I don't feel like I lack resources or that I didn't have a chance.

Maybe it's just me. I'm sorry you aren't enjoying yourself, but the old Haddonfield was truly just awful and unfair beyond redemption.

No that's not what I'm doing. I had good & bad matches on the old map as well. The new map is built to make survivors lose & is frustrating for killers too inside houses.

You just described balanced. It has strong areas for both roles, so positioning, zoning and skill becomes the defining factor of the game outcome.

In previous Haddonfield the only way for a killer to have a "good match" was that the skill difference was massive.

Sorry but this is something I can't possibly agree. The new lampkin is excellent gameplay whise.

  • Inb4: the spirit player was actually a toxic survivor main attempting a spirit challenge and failing.

  • This kinda sounds like "I like easy games that I can't possibly loose"

So yeah, no. Asking for something that's unbalanced in your favor isn't reasonable.

Why play slinger when huntress exist tho, just play her, you avoid the bug and play an actual decent killer its a win-win.

    Because, iron sight

  • You can't fix people, the solution you ask does not exist.

Beyond this the only solution for YOU, is just do you.

If you enjoy playing nice, do so. If you do not, don't then.

If anonymous people over the internet can have such a heavy effect on your psyche so as to make you question why are you doing this, then either leave for good, stop being affected by it or join in on the toxicity, no one will notice.

People who talk down on him for being gay forget that he could beat their ass for talking #########.

Actually, at this point, I don't think he would. He has already overcome his insecurities, he would not feel the need to lash out against anyone who insults him, he would just shrug it off.

I think he would be much more likely to kick your butt for insulting his friends, though.

  • OK, I see it, but how do you know they are from console?

3 same items (flashlights usualy), 3+ people from the same platform, looking like potencial SWF group.

What do you do? Nothing? Pick the best tools? Dodge? etc.

I saw 3 people from same platform with 3 flashlights and I thought "Oh I think it will be bully SWF where they just run around you and click click tbagg everywhere"... and yep, I was right lol.

    Challenge accepted.

Honestly those teams always guarantee a fun match and almost always a win.

Because they don't care about generators. I will take a so called "bully" Sabo-flashlight squad that just flocks around me over a Gen smasher team that gets 3 gens done in 90 seconds and doesn't even want to be chased any day.

Also the worst mistake you can make against these teams is to bring lightborn, because then they'll revert to do gens and get out.

I Wil take them head-on and may the best troll win.

David would have been a good straight friend who supports someone like Dwight who literally has trapped in the closet memes.

I mean, David would fit a number of positive role models because he has many virtues.

He is strong, brave, loyal, has overcome adversity and grown past his own insecurities.

He can perfectly play the role of supportive straight friend or the role he has now and kick ass in either.

    We need another him xD.

I’m still confused on how the trials work tbh, when would the survivors get a chance to talk. And I mean all of them. Like when would you see a Adam talking to Jake, in between trial? Idk. Wish dbd had and animated show

Don't they gather around the campfire? I mean we see them in the main screen.

  • Honestly I would love to see a strong straight male role model who wholeheartedly accepts David as his friend.

Inclusion is a powerful theme, but so is love and acceptance.

This post might be quite lengthy, but I’ll try to keep it as short and to the point as I can.

I’ve been playing DBD since 2017 and David King was always a character that jumped out to me. I’m from Manchester (England) and I found it so cool that David was also from here as I’ve never seen that before in a video game, as normally when a character is British they’re from London. Seeing how much detail the developers put into his perk names / quotes was amazing, as I never imagined seeing things like “Dead Hard’ and ‘No Mither’ being used as they’re just such niche expressions used in my home town.

I’ve grown up around sports and they were always something I excelled at during my time in school. Rugby was always my thing and then I got into kickboxing during my college years and now I’m a full-time Personal Trainer, which is just a dream job.

Since about the age of 7 I’ve known I was ‘different’ - I had girlfriends as that was what my family expected from me. Being anything other than heterosexual wasn’t ever discussed in my family. Men got with women and women got with men. That’s what I was brought up knowing to be true. I felt hollow for the longest time as I was living a life that I didn’t feel in control of. I was in auto-pilot for a long time, just doing what was expected from me and not doing what I actually wanted to do.

I went on a journey of self-discovery at the age of 25 when I realised that not allowing myself to be authentic was slowly killing me and it couldn’t go on much longer. I came to the conclusion that I was not a heterosexual male, but I was in fact a homosexual male. Being so heavily involved in sports for all my life just felt like I was locked in a cage. It’s no secret that that world can be deep rooted in homophobia and hearing some of the comments fellow teammates would make, just didn’t leave me feeling safe enough to be my true self. I loved sports and didn’t want to give that up and I felt like if they knew the real me, I’d be disowned. These feelings also lead back to my family. My mum was always talking about grandkids and how she couldn’t wait for me and my then-girlfriend to have them. I just had such an immense pressure on my shoulders to stay in the closet, but it eventually reached a boiling point.

When I did eventually ‘come out’ I got my fair share of bigoted comments from people I once classed as friends and family. Some didn’t understand how I could possibly be gay, because I wasn’t effeminate and had girlfriends. Which really boiled my blood. I didn’t realise somebody’s sexuality was a personality trait? Why couldn’t I be into ‘masculine’ things and still be gay? It never made sense to me.

Now this brings me back to David. Him being gay just resonates with me so damn much. We almost feel like the same person now. Some people don’t understand why representation is important, but this is why. If I had a character like David King whilst I was growing up, it would have made it a lot easier for me to accept who I was and realise there was never anything wrong with me.

I truly appreciate what Behaviour has done and I hope that the increase in representation we’re seeing throughout the media will make it easier for the youth of today, as my childhood / teen years truly felt like hell.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the fog.

Wait, so is David actually not so loosely based on you?

  • I want wraith to have a special mori on autohaven to toss someone into the car compactor.

  • Better controller support options, such as a crosshair, better response curve, etc.

You can't have these as survivors. You would have to give them the power to actually chase and harass the killers and that just won't do xD.

I mean it would be hilarious to have them grannies bludgeoning the killers into submission, but I don't think that would work.

  • Clearly upset because they probably felt were close to victory only to be taken from them. I can understand, but not justify.

Nevertheless, often I would rather attempt an impossible rescue and die together (or maybe succeed or trade places) than simply leave and not try.

Life is too short and niceness too rare to be afraid to die in a game.

Thats a wonderful attitude with how to confront other people's opinions and maybe to make things more clear, i come from a background of more or less intense mobbing from Grade 1 through 10 (German school system, it got better in grade 11-13) and am sometimes extremely sensitive towards antagonizing behaviour of groups against an individual. Because that what it most often feels like when you have for example multiple survivor blocking even your first hook attempt or tbagging in the exit gate.

I don't take such things personally anymore and am above such behaviour but understand and emphasize with every complaint on here about such behaviour.

I even played for survivors for the last 2 years to ease the burden of camping, tunneling and slugging.

I of course didn't farm and played like normal until all were on deathhook but without much positive feedback (to which i am of course not entitled) it gets hard keeping such playstyle and behaviour up over a long time. And the amounts of different Feedback are like often distributed similar to a bell curve with positive and negative (really toxic) feedback being the outliers but the main portion was often silence or GG more often after trials that ended in more or less crushing defeat but really seldom when i as the killer won.

Well. Say what you will. You seem like a nive person to me :)

It's great that you can overcome your harsh experiences, even share them with others.

Good luck in everything you do.

  • There is life beyond Steam.

  • And still twins have better BP gain than plague T. T

  • You are wasting a prime opportunity to abuse the survivors without them doing gens.

These kind of squads are, by far one of the easiest ones to beat and have fun doing it. Drop one survivor. Hit the other one hiding nearby. Rinse and repeat until everyone is slugged at 5 gens.

  • Competition in a game to achieve a goal to the short term detriment of your competition is NOT toxicity.

Not everyone that does something you don't want them to do is toxic.

That's like saying letting the killer hit the survivors is toxic because it doesn't let them escape.

And I would've to disagree with you. This might be only a video game and everyone is anonymous in behind an alias in the internet but humans are being that are able to feel and perceive empathy.

Flipping someone the bird, words, gestures, figures, body language, behaviour and much more and the intent behind those things is perceivable for humans.

Certain actions are socially coupled with different intentions and meanings and people are able and programmed to perceive them and react physically and psychologically in response if they want or not.

Someone calling you an a...hole is just air creating vibrations inside someone's throat but we all perceive it as an insult. Same with the word in writing, just a medium representing an intent behind it, that has been socially connected.

Tbagging and camping and so on can have different strategical meaning but the other side will always see a certain intent behind it and sometimes it is clear as day what that intent is.

Ignoring that and being the bigger person takes a not insignificant amount of mental fortitude and over time mental endurance and can be worn down over time with the feedback loop mentioned before.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Perhaps we are just too different?

I understand that different people have different tolerance for social pressure and negative experiences, but I sincerely fail to understand how people behavior in an online community or game can have such an impact on a person's psyche (assuming this person has a life outside the internet) such as to actually change that person's personality.

I don't think I'm a person of particular mental fortitude or anything, but these things are just completely irrelevant for me.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your POV, as I can see now that something that might obvious or common place for me might be different for others around here.

sorry but i have to disagree with you... personally after more than 2000 hours on dbd, i met really FEW people that appreciate how i played, everyone else instead blame me for petty reasons... imagine being a prick toward the killer from the beginning and then complain about said killer that played mean toward you despite your huge amount of 2nd chances (dead hard, ds, bt, styptic agent and even adrenaline), or literally for nothing, harassing me in the endchat and even on steam. after all those hours passed to play "fair" you'll wonder why you still do it despite you already know that people doesn't deserve it

I understand what you are saying and the frustration you must feel, but again, nothing of what you described makes being a nice player hard.

Nothing of that is actually physically preventing you from being nice or forcing you into being a mean person.

It just makes it extra easy to justify being so. You can't blame others for your own decisions (at least not in an online videogame).

Also, generally speaking I don't consider one is nice because the people receiving the niceness "deserves" it. You do it because you want to, that's it. Though this is admittedly an opinion.

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934380#Comment_2934380

There is still the psychological aspect of positive/negative feedback loops.

No matter how nice a person someone is, if they only get scorn as feedback to their positive behaviour they won't continue with that and change in accordance to their surroundings.

For example if you bring pastry or cake everyday to your office or whatever and it is always met with critique or even displeasure then you won't do it after a certain point.

Yeah, sure. I get that. In real life no one wants to be a doormat.

But this is a videogame. The psychological effect of anything this anonymous bunch does should be minimal or non existant.

I'm not arguing against the idea to retaliate against the toxic players, everyone can do what they want, in simply arguing against using other people's miss behavior as an excuse to do the same and calling their fault that its "hard" to be nice.

It's not hard. It's just easy not to be nice.

  • Toxic survivors don't make it hard to be nice. That's just an excuse people use to justify not being nice, because it's easier.

If you are nice, you do it because that's what you want, the other players behavior should have no inference on your own.

  • I don't agree with everything, but the idea of making totems a separate part of the loadout is actually... Not a bad idea.

  • @gendoss said:

The term "gen rushing" is the funniest thing ever to me. Like sorry were we not supposed to do our objective as fast as possible?

It is always a problem of the killer just not pressuring enough. If it takes you forever to down people then of course survivors are going to sit on gens, what else are they going to do? Sit around and twiddle their thumbs? Sorry killer, we should have just sat around and waited for you to down us or pressure our gens.

Every time a killer accuses me of "gen rushing" I just say they were "hook rushing". Sorry killers you can't hook rush us anymore. So dumb.

Gen rushing isn't the survivors fault. It's also not the maps.

It's the dramatic difference between the different killers' capacity to pressure the generators. Many of the more traditional chase and hit killers haven't aged well and this will remain a problem until all killers can be used with reasonable expectation to win a match.

  • No. He is scary and, as survivor I feel genuinely threatened. That's fun.

As killer I like that survivors just can't ignore you.

One of my favorite things is to get into a queue as oni, only to find a flashlights Sabo squad.

They'll either abandon their original plan or accept their fate and try their stunts anyway.

I respect them if they choose the latter option and will try to make the match fun for both sides.

  • Silent bell wraith on indoors maps always makes me jump. I have actually spilled a little bit of coffee I was drinking while repairing a generator on the meat plant.

  • No, it's best to open all boxes and do bones

  • An s tier killer that can be comfortably used with a controller without it being a massive handicap and being several times harder to master

I feel like a lot of people playing killer rely too much on the line of sight, and don't pay attention to crows flying, and blood pools.

    Not my gripe really.

I play on a controller and there are just some times I just can't counter juke.

I actually consider myself fairly decent at countering Jukes and 360s, but there are just some times where there is just no way and I don't think that is fair.

  • I mean, it's not like hemorrhage it's used on every single trial and makes sense that one of them counters the other.

Boil over overpowers iron grip and iron will largely overpowers stridor (and spirit for that matter).

I don't think it's wrong that hemorrhage overpowers resurgence and solidarity.

But for the sake of argument I guess it would be also OK if those perks got buffed to grant immunity to recovery regression for a short time or that they reduce hemorrhage by a set percentage, without time limit.

  • Nemesis, by far. Completely badass.

Pinhead's also pretty good. Very eerie.

lol with stats like that it can't be the machine.

I have notice a heap of funky business going on. Getting insane auto aim into walls and rocks. Had the game slow down when i went to hit a 175 ping console survivor out in the open, and it just made me whiff air without damaging them. i got stunned and then hit a survivor on the other side of a pallet (heard the hit sound after i was stunned). Perhaps they are fiddling with validation again?

It can be the machine. Many small things might go wrong even in powerful machines. Even dumb things such as seating, a loose cable or a process competing for exclusive use of a driver or dll can cause misbehavior in gaming performance. Also TR processors can be gimmicky to play with, as their many cores and threads aren't always handled optimally by engines.

  • @Tr1nity said:

You'll have a lot more fun in Hollow Knight, I promise.

That games is hard xD. Harder than DBD

  • Oh. I didn't know that you could still chat when you disconnected. I assumed it sent you back to character selection directly or something.

  • If you truly could run games such as RE remake 3 with no issues (60 fps, native resolution), but have issues with DBD I very much think it's a problem with your rig.

Honestly I run DBD with everything max, at 1080 solid 60 and rarely hit 4 gigs total memory load and 40% total memory bandwidth, cpu barely even notices it, staying at 30% usage, but RE 3 was really taxing, I had to make compromises with settings to achieve average 60 fps.

You should try running a metrics overlay to check if you truly have fps drops paired with usage spikes, or if you're just having stuttering, or if you are experiencing latency spikes.

Pair this with hwinfo to detect memory errors.

Also keep an eye on disk usage. Could be a streaming problem. I fixed a friend's pc with a problem like this and it was really sneaky. Didn't go away until I changed a faulty Sata bus.

While anti aliasing can certainly look awful if badly implemented, it rarely has a dramatic impact on performance unless they are using some type of crazy supersampling derivative, which DB D is not.
