Just the one you are teleporting to gets the blood effect. Faking a teleport is useful when you are running Dead man's switch. You can see the locked Gen aura if they leave it. If you don't see the aura, then you can actually finish teleporting and catch them, which tends to happen after a couple of fakes.
Assuming of course you have knowledge of what gens are being worked on, like with BBQ.

Usually I don't have a problem giving hatch, however if the last survivor chooses to abandon his remaining teammate on the hook and just hide when they could easily rescue them, I will not be inclined to mercy.
I very specifically always leave the second to last survivor to be unhooked if applicable so I can get one extra hook or maybe just let them both go if I see them trying. Similarly if I run into the last survivor on their way to the rescue I will intentionally lag behind enough so that they can attempt a rescue.

Years ago when I bought my xbox 360 i made the decision based on PC and Playstation being absolutely plagued with hackers and cheaters. Iv invested thousands of dollars and tens of thousands of hours into my xbox account to date. All has been well for years until i invested 3,500 hours into Dead By Daylight then cross play was introduced. I chose the xbox platform so i could play games and enjoy the strict no-cheat multiplayer aspect that came with it. Now DbD has cross play and I cant play a game(literally not a single one) without having PC cheaters in my game. Survivors that run faster than my killers and vault at boosted speed, people being able to use as many perks as they want at the same time, killers who know exactly where every survivor is at all times, and the list goes on. I know everyone will say that I have the option to turn cross play off but the reality is that during prime hours in the evening and the weekend it takes over an hour to get into a match with cross play turned off. And if its not peak hours it is impossible. I have started the killer que around midnight during the week and left my home to go out and do something and when i get home multiple hours later my killer is still waiting in the same que. Its absurd. I realize that the only reason cross play was introduced was due to low player count and the need to improve que wait times but having to play against cheaters every match makes waiting 20 mins for a match not so bad. Something has to give. If u need to add a game function that monitors random matches to check things like character movement speed and action times in order to ban cheaters mid match then get on your horses and make it happen. Dead By Daylight is turning into how GTA5 used to be when online first came out and its a shame.
Kinda misleading title. You claim that crossplay has to go, but to also be aware of the turn off option, which increases your wait times.
Do you expect that the complete removal of crossP via development decision will have any different results? It won't make more players magically appear to play in the same system you use.

Facecamping at 5 gens is just ridicious (if you are not bubba) and if killer happens to dominate the game he makes sure survivor dies on first hook. Just asking why are some killers like this. Bubba ofcourse should camp but other killers doing this makes soloQ more horrible. My opinion is these killers are just sore losers if they really need to facecamp when they are already winning.
You are seeing this in the wrong perspective. Camping a survivor at 5 gens is potentially far more rewarding than doing so at 1 or 2 gens.
The objective of this is to remove a survivor from the game. The sooner this happens, the better the chances for the killer to take control of the entire match, leading to a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for the rest of the match.
5 gens camping is prime strategy, admittedly, at the expense of a degradation of the survivor experience, but ultimately everyone seeks their own enjoyment in a game and never have I seen a survivor group that is like "hey, we already 99d the last Gen and the killer is at 1 hook, let's stop for a while so the killer can have fun too".
Personally I don't camp much, because I don't find it enjoyable, but don't miss understand the reason behind killers that do so at 5 gens. They are being efficient.

Since you appear to have your mind made from the outset, one quick question.
Why did you start the topic? Are you seeking validation due to insecurities?
Or is your friend also reading the answers and you are both trying to find out who is in the right by submitting the matter to the assessment of the majority?

Yeah ok but a t-bag never killed someone
Correct. It's a fairly minor occurrence. This doesn't make it right and potentially makes it worse.
One thing that I have noticed is that people that are willing to degrade their own morality, whether it's petty thievery, cheating or being an ass, over something utterly minor, are almost certainly going to do so over pretty much anything else.
In this case you indulged on toxic behavior over another person's similar behavior. On a game. On line. Which would have no further effect past the next few minutes. This suggests that you possibly would do so on many other circumstances.
I'm really not judging, I'm simply trying to explain my position. I think one's morality, dignity and self respect are far too valuable to compromise them over something so insignificant and doing so degrades us as persons.
Thus, I still agree with your friend on calling you out. I would expect any friend of mine to do the same for me.
-
Another person's bad behavior does not justify or make right your own. All you prove is that you are not better than him.
Your friend is right to hold you to a higher standard, as friends should be forthcoming and should always try and be a self improvement inspiration rather than trying to justify our defects or mistakes.

I have tried so many time to get value out of it and it always seems to not work. The one time I did almost get value from it was a hag who has trouble finding me and I didn't even get up.
Someone who has gotten value from it please teach me your ways. How did you do it?
Exponential by itself is kinda worthless. However if you mix it up with boil over, purple branch and set up your boon on a good location, with several levels and where you can run to every time you get into chase and the killer has trouble getting to a hook, you can often get value from it.
It also works better when you are coordinating with at least one more survivor who runs Sabo to guarantee the killer can't hook you.
Ultimately it's mostly a meme build and a smart killer can simply slug you, snuff your boon and leave you to bleed. Or you might simply be unlucky and have a map without a good location for this.
You won't be able to turn this kind of gameplay into a winning strategy against anything except baby killers but then again if you just want to have fun and mess a bit with the killer, this is a good way to go about it.

And, once again, I feel obligated to stress: Torment cannot be put on survivors without their specific misplay. With the ability to simply crouch-walk through it, and the length of time you get slowed down to draw it, the only time survivors get tormented is when they play badly.
And if survivors are playing badly, you get far more value out of killers that take better advantage out of survivor mistakes, like Oni, Twins, or Huntress. Or, just play a killer who doesn't depend on survivor mistakes, like Nurse, Blight, or Artist.
Pyramid Head is not a BAD KILLER. But his power is so wildly self-limited, and he got so many nerfs right after coming out, with such a useless collection of addons that he is just not A-tier. If you do well with PH, that's great. You are a good player. And you could do just as well if not better with most other non-joke killers in the roster.
I kinda feel that I should point out that while it's true that survivors need to step on the trails of their own volition, this does not mean the killer has no control over it, or at the very least, that it cannot take advantage of its use.
I main pyhead and I can separate survivors into 2 categories, based on how they behave when you use your trails on the loop they are using: those who will step on your trails and those who would rather get hit to avoid them. Either way, you profit.

Because it's kind of a big deal, I think, and we all know that sometimes, the most logical, sensible path isn't always the one taken in videogame development.

Mmm. I dunno. One of the things I like to do at least a few game a day is to play wraith with shadow dance and serpent, plus chase perks (enduring, bamboozle, spirit fury, BBQ), aka, a fun build, but like 90% of the time this just kinda makes the survivors smash the gens even harder.
I find it hard to justify the survivors playing in that fashion against a wraith with this build, but they genuinely just want to do gens and leave. They don't even want to be chased.
I mean I still have fun regardless of the outcome, I do this to just chase survivors without a worry in the world, but I don't think that whether the killer is bringing heavy regression or not regression at all influences the survivors behavior in the majority of cases. And no, I don't hate survivors, I perceive them for what they are: the counterpart to my killer and a corner-store to killer's enjoyment
-
What? I bring empathy to every game and all it does is show me the auras of some survivors. How do you make it work that way?

I'm a main killer BTW, and not necessarily. Once you have Escaped MMR hell, by increasing your MMR past a certain threshold (requires friends), you can resume solo queue and you will mostly receive decently competent teammates. Until you slip and fall to hell again, that is.
-

Nope. Hatch doesn't change your mmr. You will remain in hell even if escape through hatch sometimes.
-
Welcome to MMR hell. You will discover that this is not just an expression, but an actual thing.
You lose because your teammates suck, your MMR drops and you keep getting progressively worst teammates because of this, so you keep losing. At this level the babiest of baby killers with no perks can slaughter your team easily.
There is no escape, abandon all hope and submit to the void.
You can only get out with at least 2 other friends who are willing to rescue you from hell.
-
I'm not afraid of CoH, so no. Pyramid head doesn't care.
-
For me, definitely pyramid head. His 1 vs 1 is so powerful, he can actually bully even skilled survivors, assuming you have learned how to play him effectively.
Nemesis is close but the extra steps to be able to harm the survivors with his power, plus their ability to reset it puts him at a disadvantage.

Yes, white glyphs are awful and there are a fair few annoying gimmicks this time around (Dead Clever...argh) but I can't think of any other recent archive challenge that I've loathed to the level that I loathe this one.
For those who generally ignore survivor challenges, this requires you to get hooked, then unhook the person who unhooked you. Multiple times.
Sounds fine, right?
Well, this is what usually happens.
Anyone on this silly challenge tends to try to get themselves hooked early, then will play stupidly risky to unhook whoever unhooked them, even if it results in the game being thrown. This also seems to lead to a lot of annoyance, DCs, silly unhooks, people deliberately sandbagging each other...just bad feelings all round. I can't think of a time when I saw more survivors bickering in postgame than when this challenge is current.
Please, for the love of the Entity, make this a once off - or better yet, make it something like 'after getting unhooked, unhook another survivor in the same match' or something. This challenge isn't just annoying - it outright forces people to unplay the game.
The single worst challenge right now is Botanist extraordinaire. Because it's bugged and it is downright impossible to complete.
-
Well, those are some hard survivors to go against, and while I agree that the hit boxes are iffy, I haven't really struggled to the point of not being able to hit at all.
The number of BP that everyone got suggests a very quick match, associated with super efficient gameplay, with only a few chases. Plague, like all other killers with no mobility options are nearly powerless against this survivor strategy at such high level games, I wouldn't put all the fault on hit boxes

So what makes you definition correct and everyone else's not?
Isn't it more likely you're the one with the skewed perception of what a power role is if most people are disagreeing?
I would say survivors dictate the flow of the match, such as how fast it goes, how well the killer does, where the killer is ect. The killer has to follow the survivors around and (in most cases) wait for them to mess up. Survivors determine when someone gets saved. They determine when the EGC starts (usually), they determine what pallets get dropped when, they determine what gens get done in what order, they determine the general area where they go down, and they determine where chases take place and where they go.
That sounds like the power role to me. They dictate the majority of the match.
I mean, sure, perhaps. Ultimately you have your opinion and I have mine.
Perhaps you are correct and I'm not.
At this point I find it unproductive to further this topic, since we seem to have reached an impasse.
In the end I will continue to play killer and enjoying what I perceive as a power role and will continue to be "dungeon master" for those who play on my lobbies.

On equal skill level. Survivors will always win. Thats, despite tournaments being heavily regulated, the killers there have to resort to tunnel a survivor out asap or it will mostly be a 3 man escape.
There is simply not enough time to get 12 hooks. Said time frame is set up by survivors. A killer can have a great start and get 3 hooks before the first gen gets completed. Yet he might end the match with a meager kill and 3 escapes.
Yes. I have pointed this out before as an example of the imbalance of the game, that on equal skill the survivors hold the advantage and often ends with a 4 or 3 escape depending on killer choices.
However, I know I'm just repeating myself, but having an advantage to fulfill a game's victory conditions DOES NOT DEFINE what a power role is. I'm, sorry this is semantics, I know, but I think it's important people realize there is a difference.
Anyway, thank you for your patience and willingness to argument in a civil manner, you are a gentleman or gentlewoman.

I am sorry, I am really too dumb for this, but what exactly do you have to do to get the new Dead Hard challenge done? I used it and also got the notification for escaping later. However, I did not get the challenge done? Should I only have DH as a perk or what?
Yes, make sure you have equipped ONLY dead hard as a perk. The other 3 perk slots must be empty.
Then you must simply escape twice during the same match (after having been chased by the killer) you don't even need to actually use dead hard during the chase, simply having equipped and escaping 2 chases suffice.

Ok i´ll rephrase. Survivors objective is far easier to achieve than the killers one. There are 4 survivors and 5 gens. A single survivor requires 80 seconds to repair a gen. 44 seconds if 2 survivors work on it. Survivors start the trial usually next to gens, while the killer starts at the other end of the map. A killer can only chase a single survivor. Means the other 3 survivors are free to do what they want. If they concentrate on gens, then they´ll complete 3 gens by the time the killer gets his first hook. This doesn´t mean, that the killer had a 80 second chase. Since survivors have at least a 30 second head start, before the killer can reach them. Picking up a survivor and hooking him also takes around 5 seconds IF the survivor was downed right under a hook. If the killer has to carry the survivor, he loses another 10-15 seconds. This sums up to roughly 50 seconds that the killer requires to get his first hook. Not including the time to actually down the survivor.
Now some people will argue, that the first gens dont matter. But in fact, the first gens matter a lot, since survivors can complete the last gens in coop, which drastically reduces the repair time. All gens can be effectively completed in less than 3 minutes (much less, if the survivors use perks and toolboxes).
Its no secret that killers stack gen slowdown perks. They don´t do this, because they are so superior to other perks. They do this, because gens fly so fast.
Yes, I know this, I main killer almost exclusively and while I don't have a clue about my mmr, I have had my fair share of supremely skilled 4man swf against whom I have no chance to do anything, but this is not representative of the "power role"
You took the time to write an answer, so I will try to explain myself too.
To understand what I mean about setting rules and guiding the flow as killer power role we need to see this from a "5 person of similar skill" perspective, when a massive gap between skill exists its pointless to analyze, this is inherent to any competitive game, so in this scenario, the survivors may indeed be able to progress their objective faster than a weaker killer can, but ultimately the killer can still exert its will. Even if we get 3 escapes, if the killer wants one player out of the match, there is nothing the others can do to stop it (again, similar skill). If the killer wants to facecamp in the basement, there is no stopping it. You can't force anything on the killer. I mean, hell if the killer wants to camp the basement white glyph, or a saw box, or doesn't want to play, you can't move him.
This is what the power role means, and what guiding the games means. Not winning, not having the better chances to win.
Is like in resident evil 3. Nemesis had the power role even though he is ultimately killed.

Per your definition, survivors are the power role. Because they dictate the flow of the match.
No they don't. I know it may feel that way when you are just tired, or annoyed of the feel of powerlessness of playing killer in an unbalanced game. Again, the capability to win, per completing your objectives, does not make you the power role, but I think I'm just wasting words here. It would appear this thread has become nothing more of an echo chamber without the will to actually give thought to arguments, so, no matter, everyone is free to believe as they will.

As far as Nemesis, I just can’t see them integrating his weapon arsenal into DbD in any meaningful way. What’s he going to do, use a rocket launcher to blow away tiles he doesn’t like? And even if the flamethrower only did something simple like slowly burn pallets over time, it was still a huge gas tank on his back that heavily slowed him down - and you ultimately destroy to damage him.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953106#Comment_2953106
I think all things considered, Nemesis was the best pick. He was hard set on chasing and eliminating Jill the entire game. Just curious, who do you think would be a better fit from RE into DbD? Mr. X just trudges after you all of RE2 except the end of the game, a lot of other enemies in the series are very fast-moving or gigantic (like Nemesis in later mutations). But I haven’t played all of the games. So just wondering who you think would translate well into DbD.
Jack baker, eve and particularly wesker would all be great additions as killers, rather than whippy.

If good Survivors want to escape and you're not playing Nurse or Blight, they escape and you can't do anything about it

Killers are not the power role. Survivors are. The fact that Blight and Nurse can be strong enough to sacrifice 4man SWFs does not make them the power role.
I understand what you are saying, however, survivors being able to stomp weaker killers does not make them the power role. The power role is essentialy the player that dictates the flow and rules of the game, not the player that has the most tools to win.
If the killer finds you, you have to move or run, otherwise he will get you and potentially remove you from the game.
If the killer is plague, or nemesis or legion or any other, you have to adjust your gameplay, you can't just act like the killer is wraith, or, again you might just be removed from the game.
The survivors can't really stop the killer, they just escape. You can't stop the killer from kicking a Gen, downing you, besides evasion, you can't really force him to do anything or even remove him from the game.
I understand that at higher levels of gameplay the survivors have enough resources to evade and escape from the majority of killers, except the elite ones and this leads to frustration and feelings of powerlessness, but this does not make them the power role, by definition, it just means the game is unbalanced.
This is actually the reason why I dislike playing survivor and main killer almost exclusively. I'm a mediocre player, so as survivor I often find myself unable to do, well, anything, with no power to prevent this other than hoping to remain hidden, that the killer is merciful or just less skilled than myself. No fun.
As killer, I can have fun and no one can stop me from playing the game or chasing whoever I want even if don't catch them. I might lose a game, but I'm still the power role and this I like.

They'd need to fix her bad hit detection first, the switch to dedicated servers really screwed her over. Her puke particles can quite literally touch survivors (and they will also scream) but the game won't register it as an actual hit or infection. Just that one issue alone is enough to cost her valuable seconds during a chase.
I'm perfectly fine with her gameplay whise. I used to main her and I love playing her, but I had to stop because it made the grind even worse.
Her BP gain truly is atrocious, THATS what they need to fix.
She still has a place in my heart and u use her when I just want to have fun and watch everyone in the room vomit compulsively.
-
Survivors are not the power role. Killers are. The fact that 4 survivors can coordinate enough to escape the killer does not make them the power role.
-
Honestly, I do it when it's obvious we are going to die, so I come close to the hooked survivor so he doesn't die alone.
I do the same when there is another slugged survivor next to me and there isn't a better strategic option, I crawl so my hand is touching their's.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2951890#Comment_2951890
The thing this game needs a lot changes because if i play against a low rank killer and he can't catch is it my fault, it all comes back to balance, mmr etc so you saying i should let him down after a while of chasing so he is inclined to hook.
The situation you describe implies that the killer is making mistakes. Sure, there might instances where the killer never does catch the survivor. After all there are plenty videos of "running the killer for 5 gens", however this does not mean that it was impossible for the killer to catch the survivor, but rather the killer failed to capitalize on the opportunities that arose during the chase. Killer mistakes cost time. Given enough mistakes, the time can be enough to last the whole match.
And, no, I'm not saying you should let the killer catch you. I'm saying he should have thw opportunity to do so.
The very fact that a single survivor, in a group of 4, has the possibility to run a killer for 5 gens already shows just how much of the outcome of the trial already lies in the survivor's hands, rather than the killer's.
-
@Ronaldo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2951818#Comment_2951818
So why does the killer have abilities that can help them in chase
Because the sole objective of the killer is to catch the survivors, he MUST be able to do so, unconditionally, there can't be any instance, by any means, where it's actually mechanically impossible for the killer to catch the survivors.
The survivors objective is not to escape the killer, but to escape the trial. During chase their objective is to stall for time, allowing their team mates to progress the escape, and so they have perks that allow them to do so.
I don't think I can explain it any clearer.
-

Yea you have a point but i think atleast t3 needs to be gone. that is literally no matter how good you are he is gonna catch you so i don't think that should be in the game
This is a very flawed argument. You're saying that, if a survivor is "skilled" enough and does not make mistakes, it should be impossible for the killer to catch them. Literally the same situation infinite brought in the past.
The survivors are not meant to be able to run the killer without limit, the killer is supposed to be able to win every chase if given enough time.
Killer success already depends heavily on survivor's mistakes, I don't think it should be changed to "depends entirely" on survivors. That would mean the actions of the killer have no inference on the results of the match.
-
