  • I can agree to this, under one condition, that they also fix plague's BP gain as well. Please

  • Pretty decent. Strong and threatening, but definitely has counters and mindgame is the game against him.

People over rate the effectiveness of leaving a tile against him. If you place the remnant with some intelligence, you can funnel them where you want and they leaving a loop doesn't magically guarantee they'll make it to the next. Honestly, most of the time, when I force someone off a tile I get a hit shortly afterwards.

  • I agree with you. Honestly I think people simply doesn't like it when they perceive they taking something away from them.

    The logic is something like:

Pre patch, no BBQ: regular grind

Pre patch, with BBQ: 2x faster grind

Post patch as intended: 2.5x faster grind

Post patch with BBQ untouched: 5x faster grind?

    .

    ..

    ...

Wait, give me back my BP bonus perks!!!

They don't realize they were prisoners of a perk or else and that a lot of players did felt that way, they wanted to run other perks, but alas, they just didn't want to renounce the BP gain.

Personally I like this aspect of the patch and hope it go's through.

  • In terms of immediacy, it really hasn't. However in the long run, a new player will be able to enjoy a greater variety of perks across multiple characters much faster than with the current version, while older players will be able to jump into newly released characters almost instantly.

As someone who still remembers how being new feels, I gotta say that, as a new player, having too many perks available too fast can be extremely overwhelming. I remember my first days of DBD, when I entered the custom games with my friends and saw all those perks and had no idea what they did and was like, no way I'm reading all of this, so we would just play perkless xD.

As I played on the regular matches more it becomes more organic, you first get familiar with your char perks, then with the new perks that pop on the web, you start getting your favorite perks, gain an interest and start reading the other char teachables, maybe watching some vids and plan your growth. I really don't think that a "regular grind speed" in the early moments of a new player is a problem.

Grind becomes tedious when you have been doing it for a long time, and that's where the new mode shines.

  • No. Give voice exactly as it's on discord when playing as SWF. Then balance the game around it. Otherwise SWFs will not use the in-game chat and continue to use discord, retaining their advantage over solo and making the game very hard to balance.

  • If they ever do make a new S tier killer, it will probably be so hard to use, to compensate, that, why bother trying to master it? Might as well learn nurse or blight for that matter.

I would rather have a good A tier killer that does not require a PhD and 5 years of experience to use effectively. Like dredge. Dredge really hit the spot for me, would love to see more like it in terms of balance.

  • You are overthinking it too much. Children like that are simply a sign of the current times.

You can find them and more like them raging over a burnt breakfast, a bad grade, a TV commercial, a girl saying no and pretty much anything. The effect of gaming induced frustration on their emotional imbalance is not that great and definitely not the cause.

If anything its better that they blow out some steam over the internet, rather than doing it IRL. Sadly they will likely grow up to be broken adultoids that mess up everything around them, but that hardly new.

Thumbs up to you for trying to make the game fun for everyone else. I try to do the same from the killer side, though I gotta tell you, it can be annoying to have a mule headed survivor that runs to the basement during EGC after you carry them to the exit gate xD. You shouldn't force the killer to kill you :p

  • I see a lot of plague and clown comments, but I think plague is just fine with her diseases, just part of her now. Clown definitely has health issues, but for me the most unhealthy one would be blight.

I mean, the dude's jaw fell off...

    These are the mentioned actions:

    • Repairing a generator
    • Healing yourself or others
    • Cleansing or Blessing a Totem
    • Sabotaging a hook
    • Unhooking others
    • Opening an exit gate

    No "being healed" there.

Mmmm. OK, but, if I recall correctly, being hit by the killer when you have the endurance buff puts you into deep wound state.

I might be wrong here, but wouldn't that mean that being hit at full health while having endurance would still wound you and you would still go down on the second hit?

  • Sometimes I just like to say goodbye to the killer....

  • Honestly all tyrant forms aren't... Really that different from nemesis.

Jack baker could be cool and fit the game very well.

Failing that, the lepotitsa has the right size and interesting abilities that could be played with on DBD.

Naturally we already know we are getting wesker, so I would like it to be its base form with the sunglasses and trenchoat, because, cool looking, but we will likely get mutant version, which is kind of generic.

  • Being put on the dying state.

    ... Oh wait....

Hmm interesting I don’t have pentimento as my artist is level 1. I do have plaything however

You should try it. Is kind of evil xD.

  • As others told, I'm all ears is great on this one, and foods of rage is also an interesting proposition for the same reasons.

I'm not goodboykaru, but I actually main PyH and one particular build I found it's very strong, fun and caughts lots of players off guard is a hex defense build. Basically you stack both trail duration addons with plaything, pentimento, thrill of the hunt and another strong hex such as ruin or devour.

From the get go you trail both hexes and try and keep them so. Thrill gives you time to interrupt anyone going for purification and they'll be busy with the secondary objective the hexes add. You also get tons of easy torments on everyone.

And when you start playthinging them, then it's when it gets fun. Abuse LoS and use punishment on them when they try cleansing since they won't realize until it's too late.

Survivors tend to panic and generators become their secondary concern.

I have actually forced SWFs to just try and brute force through the hexes, but it oftentimes fails or at the very least I take a couple of them with me. And against solos, it's just pure entropy

  • Yeah, I tend to do this, but in a fair share of games this leads to survivors smashing gens and leaving too soon, unless I grossly outmatch them, which isn't desirable really, so what I do is to kill 2 and 2 hook the remaining 2. Then I ease off. I try not to be too evident about it, I just start making lots of mistakes and prioritize silly things like kicking gens.

  • I thought endurance was automatically deactivated when you performed conspicuous actions, such as healing or being healed?

  • Hex: ruin has been ruined. Again.

Good. Perks shouldn't be used so they can have benefits outside of that match.

Scavenger and ace still exist, though.

Hmmm. I honestly don't know. In her lore she's a human who was preyed upon by cannibals. I think in Wendigo mythology, it's not a human, but a humanoid creature. Maybe she was inspired by the idea? But since they didn't say it explicitly, I think they can still make a Wendigo and have it be unique from her.

If I recall correctly, wendigos can be humans who become so after preying on other humans. Hag is very similar to a wendigo. So is Bubba but.... Differently...

  • Shadow dance and serpent wraith is lots of fun on the game. For the killer anyway.

  • I use a controller and lay back on my comfy couch.

  • Mobility is definitely one of the things that make dredge such a powerful all around killer, but even without it, he still has more options in it's kit than many other killers. An effective anti-loop with little downside, powerful nightfall with undetectable and super vision and even with so little lockers, he still has the option to move to select tiles such as killer shack and the buildings from anywhere on the map, which is still a helluva lot more mobility than what pyramid head or nemesis (other popular anti loops) have.

He is definitely not as strong here as in other maps (similar to coldwind), but in my opinion he is still very far from weak or sucking on them.

  • Yeah I agree. I know what I, as killer, will be doing.

I'll just play normally, and just not death hook anyone. That way survivors can enjoy the thrill of a tense game and will only realize what I'm doing later during the trial.

Hopefully survivors will be gracious enough to let me get decent hooks if they happen to be too skilled for me to do this in 5 gens time.

  • Obviously playing with a SWF, would be ideal, but missing that, you can try a few strategies to improve your solo chances.

Mostly play for yourself. Spec ops claudette and an inconspicuous playstile goes a long way (don't confuse with overly cautious players).

From that you need to get a feel of your teammates before deciding what you will be doing.

Don't draw aggro unless you know your teammates can mount a decent rescue (yes this means early avoiding the killer).

Rescue when it's safe. Always (always) bring kindred.

Don't rely on them for heals. CoH or a medkit will help you stay standing.

Unless you're going for hatch every match, respond to your teammates capabilities. If they are doing gens, then do draw aggro, but play safely. If they last more than 30 seconds on chased, then do gens. If they suck all around, then leave them to their luck and escape alone.

Overcome is the superior exhaustion perk for solo survival. Paired along lightweight, deception or iron will it can help you dissappear very effectively after a hit, assuming spec ops claudette. This fairly important to get more value from from weak teammates as it allows you to draw aggro intermittently, wasting a lot of killer time while remaining reasonably safe.

My go to build is actually kindred, iron will, overcome and deception/lightweight and a medkit and my overall experience has improved greatly when trying to survive.

  • Why even ask? You already know the answer. They are probably just mean or wanted to punish the survivors for whatever.

It's pointless trying to dissect it further.

chase is what matters when i talk about destroyed. he simply could never catch me during the game so when he could 1v1 me permanently he took like 2 or 3 minutes

OK, so honestly I really don't see the toxicity here. I mean, sure he isn't the most gracious winner, but it's far from being toxic.

Secondly, looping a killer efficiently is not destroying him. Killer rely on survivor mistakes, if the survivor makes no mistakes, then the killer has very little options to expedite the chase.

It would appear that he in fact made the right call to leave you, apparently an efficient looper, for last, when he had all the time to chase you around every map resource, but you don't seem to realize that.

Watch true talent videos and you will notice that in a lot of games he gets "destroyed" in the early game, forced to drop chases and loosing 3 gens with 2 hooks, but he almost always bounces back. There is a reason for that.

While I know you joking, I actually do a Chest Protect Bubba every night as my last match just to chill. Usually they just do the gens then come vault shack window a few times, but it is a nice relax at the end of a couple hours of SWF battles. Survs are usually wholesome about it, I get lots of thank yous, and ttvs love it and so do their fans.

I dont insidious facecamp as a tactic, but definitely chest protect meme at end of the killer-work-shift to let the adrenaline drop from the sweat matches

It was half joking :p. I know a couple persons who actually do enjoy to just chill on the basement.

  • I used to swear on corrupt but now I rarely use it anymore, because I have found that experienced teams will simply hide really, really well, rather than go for the other gens. After several matches spending 2 minutes looking behind every rock and going back and forth in case they did decide to start on a Gen, I gave up on corrupt.

Notable exception being plague, as she doesn't need to be near the unblocked gens to know a survivor touched them. She is just a natural corrupt user.

I don't use lethal, except on pinhead, since it's really hilarious when you trigger chain hunt in the first 15 seconds of the match and the survivors start panicking xD.

  • I think it is kind of a killer mental Healthcare thing. You know how after a day's worth of hard work you just want to sit down for a while and enjoy a cold one?

I think it's the same. After a few rough matches, some killers just want to put some classic music and chill on the basement, sharing the moment with their new friend as he slowly wastes away on the hook.

You probably should not go down there. It would be rude and interrupt the tranquility.

As survivors you should appreciate that the killer is even kind enough to bring insidious so you don't have to listen to the heartbeat the whole time.

  • Initially I thought "gens".

But after a bit more pondering, I think if I could only choose one thing it would be "patiently wait on the hook"

I almost always run kindred and BT, i will go for you and I will do my best to help you get away and continue playing, just, wait a little bit, please....

  • Some people are afraid to die on a game. Some people would rather mount an escape attempt and die trying.

Those who make excuses for the former feel guilty about it and secretly want to be like the latter.

Don't worry about them. Just be what you expect others to be.

  • The majority of killers rely on survivor mistakes to achieve their objective. Killer gameplay revolves around making the survivors make such mistakes and "perfect killer play" consists of capitalizing on every mistake the survivors do.

Perfect survivor play means no mistakes are made, so nothing for the killer to capitalize on, so there can't be "perfect killer play", when survivors play perfectly.

On this situation the only thing left for the killer is to hold W on the survivors and gradually exhaust the map resources so he can ultimately catch them thanks to speed advantage, however, the gens will be done well before that can happen, so bottom line is survivors win on this scenario, every time.

Only exception to this nurse, who is the only killer who does not rely on survivor mistakes and can take the reins of the match, so perfectly played, she wins every time.

Blight is far better at fostering mistakes than any other killer, which is why it is so hard to outwit him, but again, assuming perfect play, even he loses.

  • You're missing on a lot of fun!!!

Yeah, some TTVs are pretty crappy, but I find that the vast majority of TTVs fall within one of 2 categories: easy peasy players trying to win and failing at it, or very skilled SWFs leaders who try to go for stunts and crazy gameplay. Both are fun and easy to win against.

  • If a killer realizes that you are running the loops efficiently, they are going to drop chase and go after your team, you just become a waste of time for them.

This is actually something I get a lot of complaints for. I go back to the hook to watch a save. The healthy unhooker runs towards a strong tile, clicking and teabagging, expecting me to go after them.

The wounded, less experienced unhooked, runs into the open. My choice is fairly obvious, but then they complain for tunneling.

If your gameplay is to be a time waster and you want the killer to actually try to chase you, you need to make a mistake very early in the chase and get wounded so the killer has an incentive to try and get you. Won't work forever, though.

  • Now that you mention it......

I don’t understand why you are upset over this. No one is saying you can’t have an opinion but when you go into a community and they are discussing lived experiences it’s best to sit back and listen. If you do happen to speak up and someone says “not your turn, sit down” don’t take it as a personal insult. Often marginalized groups are often told how we should act and feel by people who have no experience and it’s frustrating.

    No upset at all :)

It's impossible for me to be upset over something like this. However, a person saying to another person to shut up and know their place is insulting, unless that person holds actual authority over me. Nevertheless I have exhausted my opinions on this particular matter and would rather go back to the original topic of the post.

  • Anyway, I expressed what I wanted to. Back to topic, I like the bird, though I'm definitely not wearing this on my claudette. Too visible xD.

No. There's nothing wrong with being straight. But there is something wrong with coming into a queer thread and trying to talk over LGBTQ+ people when they're telling you something is harmful.

It's not your place to say what is and what isn't homophobic.

Now just you wait a second mister (or ma'am), you most definitely do not get to decide what my place is or isn't, and if you think that because I'm not queer I cannot either have or express an opinion on queer matters on a queer oriented post, then I very much feel within reason to call you an intolerant bigot.

Hopefully I'm misreading your intention, and if so I do apologize in advance. If I did not, then I don't think I have any else to discuss with you.

I think it's because a straight man will never truly understand the struggles of a queer man, no matter how empathetic they can be, and so them speaking to an LGBT+ person on why it's actually okay to accept people who hate their existence (and using the gay friend line didn't help you there, I am very sorry to say) just doesn't come across as great. I genuinely don't mean disrespect in this comment, I'm just trying to explain

I guess you're right on all accounts there.

True understanding is a very hard thing to accomplish unless one has actually experienced the same. Nevertheless I don't think true understanding is a requirement for acceptance.

You're also right about my comment on my friend, on retrospective.

The thing I struggle the most with is this tendency of all these communities to compartmentalize themselves. I mean I just don't see the difference. One can be gay, straight, black, white, progressist or retrograde, or whatever, why is it important? Why can't we just get along and love each other, or at the very least tolerate those we simply cannot commune with? I honestly find all this categorization utterly superfluous. If I like someone, then I like them, I don't even factor any of this.

I mean I was just discriminated because I'm straight male, my opinions discarded without a second glance because of this, by people who have very likely experienced discrimination and dismissal for just being "different". By someone who allegedly strives for acceptance yet indulges in rejection.

Yet I can still accept and appreciate this person, understand that they are probably fed up with bigotry and stuff.

Is it so hard? I dunno it just baffles me.

"I'm a fairly conventional straight male" stopped reading there.

    Because.... It's wrong being so?

    Just curious.

  • An opinion is not a factual statement, thus can neither be right or wrong, we can disagree, though.

I'm just being pedantic, of course, don't take it to heart.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989490#Comment_2989490

I'm just gonna leave this here, but remember that people with tunnelvisioned, backwards perspectives and opinions are still people and deserve the same tolerance than those more akin to our own opinions.

The problem with tolerance. Why should we be tolerant to someone who is actively intolerant of ourselves? We shouldn't, is the reason, and through comments on both these Forums and their Twitter account it's very plain to see they are intolerant.

While I'm a fairly conventional straight male, I don't have a problem with the LGBT community (actually my bestest friend is a homosexual) and I'm generally supportive of social advancements towards representation, yet I see absolutely nothing wrong with what katemain is saying.

So, you don't see a problem with someone saying "I'm glad this [pride related] charm is optional" because "-'I see the pride charms used every game, and I would like the option to toggle charms all off because I don't want to see them', to the point where they admitted to using the Forums to complain instead of playing games with them in because they don't want to see them?

If you genuinely see no problems with that, then I cannot help you.

You make accusations of being "close to showing one's true colors", you are being intolerant and discriminatory.

And agian I ask, why should I be tolerant with someone I have tried to educate, but they do not want to learn, and have continued to be intolerant over LGBT+ identities? I shouldn't, is the answer- I have tried before, as have several others, to help them understand the importance of LGBT+ representation in media and they have continued to spout bigoted nonsence.

Fighting fire with ice only leads to the antagonization of everyone, never to acceptance.

And you know what, good. Because I'd rather never be accepted than live in a world where I have to voluntarily accept someone for hating my identity, who I am, and who I love. I would much rather never be accepted within mainstream society than have to accept others who acitvely seek to harm me and people like me through their passive day-to-day actions, which they don't believe have a harmful effect, but absolutely can.

I thank you for your reasoned and well written answer. I can see from the outset that we are most likely not going to agree, which is OK, but I will try to correlate my viewpoint.

To answer your first comment, why should we tolerate those who are not tolerant towards ourselves?

My opinion on this is, because we can. The failure of others does not make it alright for us to fail in the same way. Perhaps I'm naive, but I try to tolerate and respect others so long as their lack of theirs is not expressed as aggression towards me or my beloved ones.

Indulging on an eye for an eye degrades us as persons.

As for your second inquiry, there is a slight difference between not seeing a problem and not having a problem. There is obviously a problem with katemain opinion, as it clearly reflects intolerance and a backwards perspective, however I don't have a problem with that, even though I don't agree with them, the reason for this is because, above all, they expressed their opinion in a non confrontational, fairly respectful way (albeit certainly in the wrong post). Because of this I think it's wrong to attack them and ostracize them. It's unwarranted and hateful and it's not OK, in my humble opinion.

Again I thank you for the time your spent on your answer and hopefully I conveyed my own opinion.

Though, as I expressed earlier, I don't think we will agree on any of this, since your last paragraph is quite opposite to my beliefs.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Now once again ask yourself this, and ask yourself this very slowly: Why does seeing the pride charm(s) upset you so much?

And if you bring up the fact that your faith goes against it and thus makes you and others like you intolerant to it, well- we've known that all along but it'd be great to have official confirmation.

I'm just gonna leave this here, but remember that people with tunnelvisioned, backwards perspectives and opinions are still people and deserve the same tolerance than those more akin to our own opinions.

While I'm a fairly conventional straight male, I don't have a problem with the LGBT community (actually my bestest friend is a homosexual) and I'm generally supportive of social advancements towards representation, yet I see absolutely nothing wrong with what katemain is saying.

You make accusations of being "close to showing one's true colors", you are being intolerant and discriminatory.

Fighting fire with ice only leads to the antagonization of everyone, never to acceptance.

And I'm sorry if my saying this rubs you the wrong way.

  • I'll happily trade dredge's darkness for overall killer FOV increase.

  • It seems fitting to me. Killers have extremely reduced visibility as basekit to the point that circling around them is a viable strategy.

It's only fair that a killer can mess with survivors' visibility and I have to say I'm kind of surprised they are making such a big deal out of it, as in, claiming they can't stand it or makes them physically uncomfortable.

Honestly I played a few games against it and, while nightfall definitely made it harder to stay alive, I didn't feel any discomfort nor disorientation. I wonder if it is because I play a lot of killer....

  • I don't hate them. It's just that survivors using the same perks every time starts to feel like they are all just clones of each other and it does grow stale.

However I understand why survivors need and rely on them and I don't blame them for it.

  • If body blocking is, at some point, hindrance enough to refer to it as "denying a kill", then something has already gone irreparably wrong in your game and body blocking isn't really the issue.

The situation I can picture being like this is when you tunneled a survivor to deathook for 5 gens and now, with the gates opened, the rest of the team comes to ensure their safety. This isn't a "survivor mistake". It's pretty much the killer playing into their hands.

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 17
