A message from a baby killer to main survivor players

I consider myself to be a baby killer, newbie but can still win some games depending on the circumstances, i watch videos, guides, study the game, perks, and play a bit of survivor as well, but im facing a "problem", im just chilling playing my game, doing my thing, trying to improve, sometimes i find myself on a bad situation of no kills and 3 or 4 gens done, well at that point i know i can't kill everyone, more likely, so i decide to camp the hook or tunnel, again im playing for fun, if i decide i want to take one survivor with me, i will, i read the rules and there is nothing against camping or tunneling, i know some people might find it not a honorable thing to do, well, for me it is, because im a weak killer and its a strategy that sometimes gives me good returns, like people trying to save the others and i end up killing 2 - 3, or even 4.., so stop insulting killers when they do that, i've been getting hundreds of insults after games on the chat, even when i say GG, i dont insult anyone when they loop me forever, or blind me, or drop pallets on me, im having fun, not trying to exchange insults with people every single round i play, i have 75 hours of gameplay, so please be considerate of people playing the game, we are just having FUN, and if you die its not a big deal..

Don't think on it too hard. Do whatever you think you need to do. If it's nearing the end game and you haven't gotten a kill yet, often tunneling the weakest link is your best bet.

  • Ok so I'm a survivor main but I don't act like this.

If exit gates are open or able to be opened. There is literally and genuinely ZERO reason to not camp the hook. All you will do is leave that person to be unhooked just to end up in another 2 minute long chase that will probably lead to body blocking and everyone escaping, instead of just securing that one kill or maybe even more if the survs get greedy enough.

If they complain? who cares, they are already playing what the game is catered towards (survivors) so you can absolutely play how you want to cater towards yourself.

exactly, sometimes groups comes with 4 unbreakable, 4 DS, 4 DH etc, flashlights and stuff, not to mention they are coordinating in voice etc, when i see people are real newbies i let them go, sometimes i even lose on purpose to let them escape, since i was able to down 4 survivors at like the first 2 mins of game, because i knew they are newbies, so i just let them go, but when i see people T bagging, clicking flashlight etc, and when i get them, don't expect me to let you go, specially if im using the trapper on the basement lol

  • Just let them all go.

Trapper says 4 escape is best way to reduce mmr. Leads to better games in future.

If you get this kind of game and then you get 2 or 3 kills because they are too mule headed and trade hooks until you kill them, your subsequent games will only be harder.

    Just. Let. Them. Win.

its ok because id rather get revenge on them

  • and also, the most toxic ones, keep sending me friend invites on steam, no idea why, i guess they want to check my personnal info or something

  • Not a bad motivation xD

My biggest piece of advice is to play DBD however you want and not care about what other people think.

Just try to play in a way you wouldn't fault someone else for playing.

  • As a player as long as it is not against the official rules, you can play killer however you want.

That being said, camping, tunnelling, are not respected strategies. They ruin the enjoyment of the game. It would be like if survivors didn't do their objective, and instead hid for the entire match waiting for hatch. it denies a proper match from occurring. Its especially frustrating for the survivor being camped, because they know they need to remain in the match for as long as possible to buy time for their teammates. Why would their respond to you positively? you are creating negativity.

Do not let anything other than the TOS tell you how to play. The End.

But you also have an obligation to not let the other team get under your skin. That's their game plan. Learn. Adapt. Bury them.

  • Bad players are gonna be crappy no matter what you do in game. It’s says more about them than you.

So play how you like when you like and damn anyone who tells you otherwise.

It’s your fun why compromise it or feel bad because someone else wants to ruin it for you purely because they are a bad sport.

The wolf does not concern himself with the opinions of sheep.

  • Survivor players would never do that. They are very respectful members of this community and I resent the fact that you would suggest otherwise. I have you know that is against the forum rules.

I digress, I suggest that you camp and tunnel from the start. Do not even bother giving them a chance.

  • I've said it a few times but the game is a toxic arms race. The simple fact is dealing with 3 survivors is easier then dealing with 4. Therefore if you can remove one early, you have an advantage. Plus if one is on hook you can pretty much guarantee at least one other sometimes more will attempt to rescue no matter what you do, not always but it's pretty common. Camping and tunneling in this case, slows the generator progression rate, especially if your killer is good at it. If you merely go and try to find one of the other three doing generators, there is no guarantee of return in this eventuality, whereas camping/tunneling is a guaranteed especially if you also catch someone trying to play hero.

This whole factor is why the game is a toxic arms race because the survivors respond to this playstyle with things that are toxic of their own and ultimately the math is simply rigged in favour of the survivors in terms of average chase times to generator times and this in turn can justify that the killer has to use every tool at their disposal to have a chance. So in light of that it simply does not make sense from a 'winning' perspective for the killer to play fair. Mind you, I don't care about winning so never camp and try to avoid tunneling but it's very simple logical sense why it's a problem.

As far as some survivors and killers are concerned, the other side is not a human being but someone who has the potential to ruin their enjoyment. Hence why teabagging and hitting on hook happens. It's 'payback' for what they endured from likely someone else. Really stupid but all you can do is be better yourself and be okay with what you as an individual do.

  • The issue is certain SWF groups, not survivors as a whole.

Killers are equally if not more toxic than survivors.

  • Stopped reading at " i decide to camp the hook or tunnel, again im playing for fun".

You claim to be "chilling" and just "playing for fun" yet you feel the need to camp and tunnel to win. You either are playing to win, or you're "chilling" and "playing for fun". Choose one.

They're probably new too and frustrated they were winning the entire game but lost in the end, obviously they shouldn't insult you tho, just don't stick around to read the chat tbh.

This is wrong and false. I'll prove it. The killers job is to kill you. Whenever you get downed twice or even three times in a row, you think he has some toxic vendetta against you but most of the time that's just his best chance of winning. Survivors' job is to thwart killers' efforts, so it's not toxic to drop pallets in my face or run me around in circles, it's just good playing.

Things only go slightly into the realm of "toxic" (its so stupid to use that word when compared to games like league of legends, we're really just talking about mild bad manners here), but it only starts to go south when one side does something JUST to spite the other, that doesn't necessarily help the game. This includes killers face camping when no other survivors are nearby, slugging people just to watch them crawl around, shaking their heads, whacking people on the hook with their weapon. None of those things are moving the game forward, so that's a killer being "toxic". Survivors have a couple ways of being toxic too. The first is the obvious: teabagging and clicking flashlight repeatedly. They're doing this to taunt a killer when they escape or when he can't get to them. The second is item loadout: Flashlights and hook sabos and body blocks aren't the best meta right now, so when a team gets together with a million ways to blind the killer on his way to a hook, sure we can PRETEND they're just trying to win the game, but they specifically chose a loadout that harasses a killer instead of helps them do gens and move through the game.

I'm a killer main, that much should be obvious. Do I think they should remove tbagging and flashlight clicking and hook sabo from the game? Nah. Those just tell me when I can go super sweaty and toxic right back at them. If they're totally toxic for no reason (tbag clicking nonstop), I punish them hard, shake my head at them on the hook, I might even slug them and laugh as they crawl around trying to find the hatch. But that doesn't happen often. More often, they just choose a build I don't like. And if they clearly want to SWF and toy around with me using flashlights every step of the way, I don't think it should be illegal, but I"m going to tunnel and play dirty (my way of winning that's unfun for them).

So there's two types of toxic. There's being a dick for no reason, and there's generally playing in an unsportsmanlike way. One is crappy, one is fine, and I get to respond however I want to each.

Neither side is more toxic than the other, and you didn't prove anything (bc that's not possible considering "toxic" is subjective). Nodding, tbagging and flashlight clicking is widly considered toxic but tbh a little taunt in a pvp game never hurt anyone, it's not that serious.

Also i absolutely disagree about people using a certain build being toxic that's just ?? People call others toxic for using meta perks let's not start calling people toxic for running non-meta ones lmao. Altruistic builds aren't toxic, saving a teammate from being hooked isn't "harassing" the killer in any way. You said it yourself, the killer's job is to kill. On the other hand the survivor's job is to survive, not getting hooked certainly helps.

Like you can't seriously be saying survivors are more toxic than killers and then say you "go super sweaty and toxic" against people who use flashlights and sabo... so they don't die... which is literally the goal of the game...

If you tunnel and camp you can't really complain that survivors insult you on chat. Those are dirty stragedies so ofcourse survivors won't be too happy. Ofcourse if the insults go out of the line then you can disable the game chat or just ignore it. It's fine to tunnel and camp but don't expect survivors to say GG to you after the game. When all gens get done killer should camp and tunnel to secure kill or two ofcourse. But tunneling when there is 4 gens left is not very nice. Tunneling when 2 gens left is totally fine. If you want to just chill I recomend playing for hooks. You don't have to hook everyone twice but just avoid tunneling then survivors should not insult you on chat. Survivors drop pallets and blind you to survive so it's different. However if survivors teabag at you and flashlight clicks at you or just troll that is their equal to tunneling and camping so then I recomend just camp and tunnel to make it even.

  • The easiest way to avoid toxicity from survivors is just to write "ggs" in end chat and leave. Don't listen to anyone telling you how to play if their killer games were limited to doing the tutorial. your job is to kill people, any strategy is a valid strategy, even if it's viewed as "toxic" or bad one, it's still one of the options and people can play around it.
