    What's the issue?

well if you want all the perks and all the characters to be unlocked you need to pay a total of $120 give or take. now that's a steep price but the grind is so incredibly difficult with iridescent that it's not even worth your time to try and get them all the regular way. I am a proud buyer of every single chapter. however, for new players, this sounds like an immediate turn away from the game.

    suggestions

it's simple really, they need to start releasing some of the original chapters for free, like roots of dread is original it could release for free. the number of chapters is getting overwhelming and BHVR clearly recognizes this with the announcement of the grind nerf. what do you guys think about seeing more free chapters vs paid chapters? obviously, they need to make money with these chapters. but it's getting too steep at this point.

I think making some of the older chapters either much cheaper or free would be okay. I dont think they should just release new chapters free though.

Spark of Madness and Hag's chapter could be free by now I feel.

And as a person who purchased both, I wouldn't feel mad about it. I got my money's worth years ago so let people enjoy it today.

  • I remember when I first started DbD, I used to see the thana perk icon on the bottom of the screen and freak out thinking it was NOED

  • I'm the opposite. I'm always unhappy and DBD makes me so frustrated that I have no time to be unhappy

If you're too stressed out about the game, I advise you to take a break and look for something else to do.

Do anything that is not Hockey related. l am sure you will feel better, it worked for me.

I hear so many people say this.

"If you're stressed, stop playing. If you're stressed, don't play Killer. If you're stressed, it's not for you."

But like, that doesn't solve the issue here. So many threads and so many players have expressed how bad killer can feel sometimes. There is a problem in killer gameplay, hopefully it will be fixed with the perk rehaul. Honestly I feel like too many second chance perks have made killer feel so... sweaty?

  • I didn't know darkness revealed, reveals survivors around ALL lockers. I thought it was just the locker you opened up. Wow... i really like that perk

  • I just pretend I don't care so she gets bored and stops trying to scare me.

So yeah its basically 100% likely that Dead Hard will be nerfed in the upcoming months. One big challenge with this perk though is that nerfing it without making it obsolete is difficult.

If you remove the invulnerability, the distance can still extend chases (reaching to a god pallet or jungle gym window). Now if you nerf the distance it would have to be just long enough to matter but short enough to not be OP. That may be easier said than done if you look at the math.

How would you nerf Dead Hard? There could be so many creative ways of implementing this.

Either rework the perk entirely and just get rid of the entire concept.

Or give the perk obligations the survivors have to meet before using it. Maybe you have to he in chase while injured for blah blah blah seconds before using it.

  • Future Diary. Yuno Gasai as killer. Minene as survivor.

I already have a Yuno power concept, I just really want her in the game.

Other than that though, I really would love Childs Play and like someone else said above, Coraline would be a cool chapter.

  • Scourge: Floods of Rage

    BBQ

    The New Locker aura perk

    And Hex: Ruin

The Dredge works really well with aura reading perks (I mean all killers do) but the way he can teleport so fast in Nightfall will keep pressure up well. BBQ to keep momentum, Floods of Rage for extra aura reading, the new perk cause I didn't know what else. And Ruin just for some slow down.

I want to preface this by saving I don't use Dead Hard. I'm a pretty consistent Sprint Burst user when I play survivor. When I play Killer, Dead Hard doesn't really bother me.

However, I do have 1 concern with the Dead Hard nerf for developers...

What will the developers be changing about Face-Camping so that survivors have a chance to successfully make saves without Dead Hard?

Currently, the standard way to make a save as a survivor on a Face-Camping killer is to....

    1. Fake a grab, then take a hit
    2. Unhook the survivor and allow that survivor to take a BT hit, so they have a Sprint Burst away from the hook
    3. Finally, the unhooking survivor will Dead Hard away and hope there's a jungle gym nearby.

I could care less about Dead Hard, except for this very specific strategy that survivors have to follow to make a successful hook save from a face-camping survivor.

Will there be significant enough nerfs in face-camping to allow for survivors to make saves against face-campers after the Dead Hard is removed/nerfed?

    ---

(I guess I have one more concern. How about Nurse and Dead Hard. Dead Hard is currently the only real counter survivors have against Nurse. But still, more important is Dead Hard saves against Face Campers.)

There are plenty of ways the devs can dissuade camping after the perk nerfs. Let's not take away the fact that dead hard is still overused and way to powerful. Dead Hard does have legitimate uses that counter camping but that's in the minority.

Let the devs test what they are testing and let these perks finally rest from being in EVERY game.

So over the past 2 months, I've gone from a 100% pure killer main to trying to learn survivor and...yeah.

    Killer:

    • BM survivors
    • Frustrating map design and bullcrap loops
    • SWFs
    • Cheaters
    • BM cheating SWFs exploiting bullcrap loops
    • Dead Hard

    Survivor:

    • Weak BP rewards
    • Annoying to rank up
    • Getting slugged for half the game
    • Getting camped
    • Getting slugged for half the game, then camped. Then depipping for my troubles.
    • Getting abandoned or sandbagged

I will say that playing survivor is definitely the role that makes me saltiest, and if it wasn't for the hefty 1m reward at the end of the month I probably wouldn't try so hard. Yes, I've looked for some people to SWF with, but I know how much I loathe going up against SWFs myself and the last time I tried, I was asked 'hours?' and when I replied with 'about 100 now' I was told 'lol touch grass' and blocked.

I wonder if the queue incentives are going to get 'pures' to cross the aisle and see what life is like on the other side - because I know that playing survivor has made me a nicer killer, and as a killer main, I know how annoying survivors can be sometimes.

Anyway, rant over. Yes, I've had a cursed night.

I'm the opposite. Playing killer has made me play nicer as a survivor. I can't even run dead hard without wanting to throw myself off to the killer for committing a dirty little sin.

They need to scrap the mori entirely. As others have said they will never be able to give her anything as long as "0 hook kill" exists in her kit in any way shape or form. They absolutely are scared(and rightfully so) of brand new player A hopping on, going through the tutorial, understanding hook states and the general gist of the game and then going up against sadako, thinking they're doing great knocking gens out and being kinda confused on whats going on and then getting deleted out of the game after not being hooked once. As silly/niche as it sounds it is a genuine concern. Just make condemended give out various debuffs at various tiers and suddenly she can be given pretty substantial buffs

I agree. And it's not like we can't have the iconic eyeball death stare animation, maybe once survivors are fully condemned that animation plays and sadako receives some kind of buff. Sure, maybe it's not truly faithful to the lore but this is a game we're speaking of

This feeling is intended. Frustration is the goal. Counter this by trying to use perks that synergize and focus on actions that give you blood points. If they escape just try to learn from the experience and take solace that even the best killers lose games sometimes.

I counter this feeling by just playing the killers I enjoy but at the end of the day the game is the same and frustration always finds a way.

The switch to dedicated servers turned the experience on vommy mommy into one ruled by luck and not by skill. I literally hit a Claudette FIVE times with my puke and yet she remained healthy throughout all of that. It's even more devastating when her corrupt purge seemingly passes through its target without even registering.

I rarely even play her anymore despite really loving the killer. I own all perks in the game on her at tier 3 and was getting ready to farm some bp via a cake and BBQ to prepare for the inevitable prestiging but I fear it's not worth the severe bullying I have to endure.

Adiris has no map pressure and her only power gets denied by dedicated servers. What purpose does this killer even serve anymore? She gets genrushed to hell and denied by Dead Hard if she manages to finally injure someone. Only a single hook in that game and relentless ridicule from the survivors. This is what this killer is capable of, it's truly sad.

I see so many suggestions of her walking through pallets/vaults. I hate to break to you but that will just never happen. If she walks through at normal speed she would become the best anti-looper and would break the game a little. If she traverses through normally (vault speed) it would be worthless since survivors can see what she's doing and predict accordingly.

To manifest then demanfest and manifest again is a lot of time to do a single action. I think it's worth trying. We already have nurse that can blink through every onstacle in the game. I think a killer that can walk through pallets and window vaults isn't game breaking. Espiesially since sadako can't just m1 right away.

  • Demanifested Sadako can walk through pallets and window vaults.

I'm guessing no, but can you lock a locker while another survivor is in there?

I have no idea. But I do know if you're in the locker that the Dredge is also inside, woo-hoo happens.

  • I love the new killer. Just wish they leaned into the horror vibe a bit more with his power. Make nightfall darker with less distance.

  • Just some tools it found in town, Dredge is very lonely

    in Dredge Comment by RenDesune
  • Sadako is a sad case... I mean Dredge isn't even anymore powerful. It has a better teleport ability but it's chase power is awful too. But thar can be easily fixed by just reducing the distance survivors can see and making it harder for the survivor to see the Dredge on the edge of the darkness.

Sadako does not have ANY chase power to fix. Even if you buff her teleport she will still be below others.

Now this may have already been mentioned before but watching the new killer in action gave me the idea of perhaps the devs adding a passive trait to all of the characters (including killers).

The passive could be unique to that character but not so strong as to being game breaking also it would add to their personality and individuality instead of being able to just swap out survivors (for example) without there being any major difference between them.

I think this would raise the level of complexity in this game.

I think passives would be cool but maybe not individually for every survivor. Survivor perk metas are already super exclusive, imagine now having meta survivors. I can't hear fengs cries for too long or I'll go crazy.

Maybe instead create four survivor archetypes, the supporter, the enforcer, the observer, and the brave or something like that.

Each archetype does something unique, a special power. And each archetype has its own bloodtree, where you can spend bloodpoints to recieve new special passives and prestige the current ones to be more powerful. You can only add one special power to that archetype though, so you may have unlocked 3 or 4 special powers but only one can be added to your survivor.

For example, the Supporters can have passives like

-safe unhooks progressively increases your healing speed throughout the match

-picking up a survivor from the downed state grants you aura reading ability for the rest of the match if the killer is nearby a downed survivor

    ... and much m6ore.

And to encourage a more balanced stream of archetypes you could add specia powers that aid different archetypes. For example

an Enforcer archetype power could be something like...

-grant yourself gen repair speed when an a brave survivor is being chased

    ... and vice versa

a brave archetype power could be...

-stunning a killer with a pallet will grant observer archetypes aura reading on the killer for a short period of time

I just think these could be interesting, killers could have something similar too.

    Brutal, Terror, and Ruthless archetypes.

Each having their own passives that can aid in combating survivors.

If you're a huntress or trickster and need to Reload while at some kind of jungle gym or t wall, seeing auras afterwards is very powerful.

In that case, give it a token system or something specific that procs it besides just being injured. If killers are so concerned about survivors not "earning" DH, why does the perk fundamentally have to change what it does? Why not just give it a condition before it can work?

You'll find that most people on this forum don't want to give it a condition, they just want it killed, period.

I mean sure, I'm up for any type of nerf that takes it out of every other game. Maybe tokens increase the distance, up to three tokens and to receive these tokens you have to be in chase while injured with the killer for 10 seconds. So in chase while injured for 30 seconds will give the survivor complete dead hard.

    I'll be fine with that.

  • @scenekiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2955142#Comment_2955142

A perk being used more doesn't necessarily mean its "OP" - solo queue almost isn't even viable without DH lately (and yes, this same logic applies to killer perks that got nerfed because killers used them all the time). Nerfing often-used perks into the ground is not the solution people think it is - we should be looking at what gameplay mechanics necessitate the usage.

And again, this won't affect the frustrations killers have with SWFs, this will be only gut solo queue harder. And it isn't as simple as "git gud" at all. I like to think I'm a fairly skilled solo survivor, but if a killer wants to tunnel and camp me, there really isn't much I can do that isn't a perk-based distraction.

If a perk is used in half of all games and causes this much frustration, it's OP. Dead Hard has the capability to extend chases far beyond what they would have originally been just by the press of a single button. The survivor does not work for dead hard, no resources go into using it. It's just a single button press and in exchange it grants the survivor 20+ seconds of free chase. If say three survivors have that perk and all use it well for distance then that is devastating for a killer who's entire gameplay revolves around time management.

And it won't solve the frustrations with SWF but it will be a start. Dead Hard is even worse when playing against SWF because they use it in more risky and unorthodox ways because they know they have another survivor ready to flashlight save them or sobo hook right around the corner. DH is an unhealthy perk no matter how you spin the story. It's a crutch perk thats too good for the skill it takes, it's frustrating for the killers, and enables SWF to be even more unstoppable.

  • @scenekiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2955128#Comment_2955128

Why does this basic, underbaked talking point only ever apply to solo survivors, and never apply to killers?

Because you usually have to actually work for killers perk to have any affect, minus a couple perks like NOED. If you really think NOED is that bad than I'm sure killer mains will gladly trade with dead hard for both to be trashed from the game.

But at the end of the day, NOED isn't being used in 50% of the games because it's not as OP as dead hard.

  • @Rokjer said:

Except for SoloQ, as usual. Some already can't hold out for long even with DH, so without... We're going to have to deal with Nurse double range, 4x slowdowns perks, without communication and without DH.

    Youhoo !

It should come as no surprise that only the toxic SWF remain on this game.

They can't hold out long without DH because it's a crutch perk, yet it has way too much value. Spine Chill is a crutch perk for new survivors too but the difference is its not OP.

Also leave Nurse out of this, she's a special case and everyone knows that her powers fundamentally ignores basic match rules but the devs have made it clear that they don't want to mess with their precious "high skill completely fair" killer.

  • @Puddles said:

They nerfed coh, they will nerf dh, I would bet in unbreakable or prove thyself being the next victims.

People talk about SB too much, but I believe Overcome will get more complains.

"I hit the survivor and he disappears, it's not fair, he doesn't have to do anything besides hold shift+w", by the time I find him, he already healed with his green medkit".

Overcome is not comparable to Dead Hards power in the slightest.

  • @Rokjer said:

    Certainly not Slenderman.

The very concept of the monster prevents it from physically harming or directly killing someone. Including it in DBD would be an insult to its horrific representation.

Or an acknowledgment of the film's existence. Which is even worse.

There are ways to work around that. One thing BHVR should work on is creating more unique killers with unique playstyles. I mean nurse can ignore the fundamentals of the game by blinking through loops, pinhead can play his own game if you master box locations, so I think creating a slenderman that injures by other means without directly attacking could work.

  • Tokyo Ghoul: Rize as the killer and Kaneki Ken as survivor. I guess the entity story will be that it took both Rize and Kaneki away into the realm during the "date" right after Rize died. And that's why they are in its realm.

Don't think on it too hard. Do whatever you think you need to do. If it's nearing the end game and you haven't gotten a kill yet, often tunneling the weakest link is your best bet.
