Kinda wish DBD had weather, sadly weak PCs and old gen couldn't handle it
Title.
I just think it would be so cool to have rain, hail, dust, snow, thin mist on the floor etc. On different maps
I feel this would just boost the visuals and experience to a whole new level, just a shame it can never happen with how the games optimised for old gen
Comments
Thunderstorms would be my cut, imagine playing against Michael on a map during a thunderstorm.
Oh yes. i would love that too.
We already have some stuff like the rain in the wood and the snow on ormond.
Exactly! It would be so cool to be sitting on a gen then you see a flash of lightning and Michaels mask just lights up staring at you 😂
Sadly it would still cause issues for old gens, and I'd rather it just be built in and random. Would make feel less repetitive even though they are
The old gens already can handle the little effects.
Real thunder or rain would mess the sounds but lightning strikes could be cool.
No, please. Conceptually sounds cool, but the idea of chasing a survivor through the cornfield or the swamp grass in the middle of a downpour with my tunnel vision killer is just too much to bear.
We really need a perk that lets us force the survivors to wear a sodium lamp on their backs
Make it an option.
I'd love to see the corn maps and the saloon change over to night as survs are killed off.
I’d love this
Well you have the rain light and background (quite relaxing sound tbh) and then you just get the odd rumble of thunder.
It's not like the game is a comp game, and its affect both sides the same would just be cool to see
While I'd love the option I feel alot of people would turn it off for advantages, or they would have even weirder filters on which is a shame.
People do that now with higher graphics, but the options are still there. :P
Only for pc, console players get 0 settings.
I do hate filters and low graphics as it just ruins the look and makes it visually easy to see everything for an advantage.
Itd just like it base, wont ever happen though sadly but we can dream of weather lol
It's the game, not pcs or consoles
Unless you seriously want to make an argument that dbd is such a beast of a game that it surpasses the likes of RdR 2.
Case in point, the water in the RPD at launch.
This game is so outdated and poorly programmed. But Bhvr has already said they aren't doing dbd2, so the spaghetti code is staying.
Thinking that consoles or toaster pcs is what's holdingthis game back is purely copium
I did say fue to how the games optimised for old gen at the end of the OP. Titles can only be so long ;)
I'm fully aware DBD is done badly in terms of optimisation as I owned the xbox one version lol (I did upgrade though, thank god)
I always forget that. Us PC players should feel lucky. We get like 3 settings compared to 0.
Yeah it is a shame console gets 0 control over any settings of the game except a small keybind and basic sensitivity change.
Tbf though I'd just go for ultra graphics if my game could handle it, those filters or low graphics arent appealing to me at all visually
Weather could also add in map wide buffs or debuffs like a Doctor with a lightening storm
The are plenty of much better looking games that run much better, with way more mechanics and systems in place running just fine on last gen consoles.
Elden Ring for one, even No Mans Sky has all sorts of crazy weather effects and has been out for years but just shows what some love and updates in the right areas can do.
DbD is a 6 year old game that was a shaky foundation and instead of optimising what they have, they have just keep piling things on top of something that’s getting more and more unstable.
It was always going to be just a matter of time until it starts to break with such neglect and the cracks have well and truly started showing, with even PC and next gen consoles experiencing some issues.
Console have always been told to ‘just upgrade’ but what is everyone going to do when things keep getting worse and there won’t be another console upgrade for years? There’s only so much you can do by brute forcing something by overcompensating for its shortcomings with excessive hardware power; yet there are lots of good examples of games that are really squeezing every drop of power out of older hardware.
Its honestly some sort of witchcraft that Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are running as consistently as they do on standard base PS4s, but really shows what’s possible if developers care enough to out the time, effort and resources into; instead of doing the bare minimum while still charging money and promoting game sales on formats they know have been neglected for so long that they have these same performance issues for years.
At least when Cyberpunk was a state they had the decency to take it off the store on formats it wasn’t performing up to standard on and not keep taking peoples money for a broken product. Maybe because there was a louder uproar and less excusers.
They could, if it were properly optimized.
Elden Ring has some great weather and it runs fine on last-gen.
