To kill 4 in a match is just luck, to have good survivors to play with, at least no DC. Then the rest is how did you perform instead of their ranks

I finally did it, but boy did I get lucky. Someone dcn at the beginning when I downed them. Is it bad that I was so glad for that? I felt bad for the rest of them, but I really needed the luck. I thought this rank 9 really difficult to down Claudette was going to single handedly win for them. Again I got extremely lucky when there was still the 3 of them alive, 1 gen to be done and the 3 gens on the map were all REALLY CLOSE together. If it weren’t for that I never would’ve killed them all. I felt bad, but relieved to finally get that Master challenge & complete the rift.

Wait like 3 more days for rank reset.

I may have to do that. My frustration is mounting. Ruin always gets cleansed in less than a minute. I’ve never been rank 14/15. I’m usually 17/18. I’m not use to playing green rank survivors. They’re a pain in my arse. How do you killer mains do it? I’m getting a feel for what you go through and it’s rough.

  • @arslaN said:

I'm a rank 1 survivor and I got many rank 13 killers. Yours isn't that bad since it's like a 5 rank difference and you will eventually beat them after more practice. Which killer are you playing?

I’m playing Demogorgon cause of the ritual and I’m using Ruin, Surge, Overcharge & Pop Weasel. I usually play Hag.

  • I’ve gotten to red ranks a couple seasons in a row and I hated it, but tbh I feel like I don’t belong there. Once I’m there I get demolished a lot and I feel like the others probably hate me cause I’m nowhere as good as some of them. It’s not like I want to be in red ranks, but I try my hardest every match, but I also want to have fun and not take it so seriously. I feel like in higher ranks, everyone wants you to play a set way and if you don’t then you suck. Sometimes I experiment with fun builds and I get messages relating to my awful setup. Because of my setup I’m the cause of the team’s loss. In lower ranks that doesn’t happen. It’s amazing how many hate messages I get in higher ranks than in lower ranks. I rarely get any in lower ranks. I wish it wasn’t so easy to pip up because I don’t want to be above green. It’s not fun anymore.

I think some people fail to grasp and will always fail to grasp is that sitting in the search, sitting in the lobby, and load screen to wind up staring at yourself on a hook for 95% of your game play for crap BPs cause the Killer decided they want to play that way sucks horrifically. And even if I'm not the victim of it, I know it sucks for the people who are.

    "bUt Do GeNs"

Oh yes, with all the slow down perks and Killers crying for Gen times to be increased cause it ain't fair to them. And we all know that Survivors find staring at Gens and ignoring trying to save or help allies is the funnest and most BP profitable play style. Add to that if anyone does try to save the person, the person's death is sped up and the other player is now also not doing gens. Suddenly your escape relies on "do they look for the hatch before killing #3?"

Exactly. I had some time this morning to get 1 match in before leaving for work. Took me about 8-10 minutes to get a lobby then get into a match to get tunneled right off the hook each time and after the 3rd down he left me to bleed out as bait. I wanted to dcn because it's waste of time to lie there and not be able to do anything but wait. But, I didn't because if I dcn then I'm the toxic bad guy. I've found that it doesn't matter if you don't teabag because I get tunneled a lot (green - purple ranks) and I don't teabag, flashlight, body block.

  • I'm all for it. I'll take anything that may help dealing with solo survivor hell.

  • (PS4): I'm not a Killer Main, but I started playing it more often and got discouraged because I was repeatedly getting wrecked by teams that were considerably higher than me in rank. I rarely got matches last season with players ranked close to me. I have friends that tried this game and stopped shortly thereafter because of this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/93290/fastest-depip-ever

Oh gosh I am also in the red ranks and I'm so upset that it will take me ages to derank to green ranks... I wish I had those super fast depip games but it takes five to eight mins for a killer game

I’m in red ranks for only 2nd time and I absolutely hate it. Once the season restarts, I never want to go back. It’s just not fun. Most matches every team is annihilated and the only one who earns decent BP is the killer. Bear in mind this is solo survivor on PS4.

  • I just had a match on PS4 against Freddy (I’m rank 3 or was) where I got the No Internet Connection glitch and got kicked out. I was enjoying the match too which doesn’t happen often in red ranks. I lost my item, my sabotage ritual and depipped. :(

  • I started playing the game almost 11 months ago and mostly played survivor (only killer to get rituals) because it's just a preference. I'm a horror movie addict and one of my favorite aspects is the survivor fighting for his/her life. Anyway, I started playing killer more often so I could see what the other side goes through and yes I did encounter a good deal of toxicity despite not tunneling, camping, etc. and overall being a nice killer. I also try my best not to be toxic as a survivor (no endless pallet looping, no flash lighting, no body blocking & esp. no teabagging). Despite that fact, a lot of killers still tunnel, camp and slug me. It happens much too often and thus it's hard not to feel jaded by this. I have no idea what it's like on the PC, but it's cutthroat on the PS4. I play solo, but I'm trying to get more friends to play again so I can get into SWF groups. Otherwise, I know I'll end up leaving the game.

  • I'm a PS4 solo survivor main, but I won't be playing survivor for the BP event (despite have a ton of BPS) because I'm in red ranks now and most of the killers are nasty and certainly won't cooperate with farming. I don't earn much BP as it is. I'll just be playing killer in yellow ranks and using all the BPS I have and hopefully having all fun, farming matches so I can finally raise the levels of my killers so I can start playing killer more often.

  • EGC is broken since the update. I've had 3 matches where the timer had clearly not run out and I still died. This last match it was only halfway and I got taken by the entity. This is something that needs to be fixed fast.

  • @Attackfrog said:

It's a pvp game. There will always be a meta and "sweaty" games. This is a flaw with the dbd ranking system (or lack thereof) not with the playerbase.

There needs to be rewards for ranks and longer seasons, and a separate league for "practice" and "casuals".

They should.mimick the HotS competitive league and "AI" league. (Not saying that should be an AI mode specifically, but I would play it!). The real rewards should be in the seasonal rankings.

I would play AI. I would love it if there was a casual league. I’m not super competitive so I feel I don’t fit it with other red rank players. I’m not good enough for red ranks so I know I disappoint them. I’ve gotten some not so nice messages saying things like how did you ever get to red ranks, learn the game, etc.

  • @Mochan said:

Juking is hard in red, it really is. I think I only have like a 10% juke rate in Red. It's hard.

I can’t get any escape rituals done because I never escape. I just played a match again where the killer just slugged everyone and I was the last person standing because I was just fixing gens. I was on the 2nd floor of the main lodge in Ormond getting a good view so I could spot the killer & come up with a plan , but he looked up & spotted me when I was making my move. Well that didn’t end well. Another quick game. All the survivors were rank 3 and above. Sigh.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/90276/advice-for-someone-struggling-in-red-ranks

Are killers really messaging you gg ez? That's lame.

A lot of this might seem like basic stuff but I don't know what exactly you are having a hard time with

Are you being found and going down quickly? Are teammates leaving you on hook or unhooking near the killer? Stealth is hard at high ranks but can be made easier with the right build. Such as quick and quiet, iron will (highly recommend), dance with me, fixated and so on. Using darker clothes helps too. Especially with Claudette. Perks like that can help avoid chases and help in losing a killer when found.

If stealth just is not working then knowing the killer and how their used can help. Knowing wgen to be stealthy is also important. Sometimes it's best to try looping and juking the killer to buy some time while the others do gens. Especially if you haven't been hooked. Oftentimes, I'll find the stealthy person last after most of the team has been killed off when they could have distracted the killer to help the team stay alive longer.

Neither stealth or looping by themselves will get you through a tough game. You have tobread the situation and determine which is best at that time.

Does Plague have corrupt purge? Might be best to wait it out or work on a gen farther away. Tier 3 Myers? Same as corrupt Plague. If it's a chainsaw happy Billy then juking him would buy a lot of time. I'd go on but I don't want to write a book when I don't know the specifics of what you're having difficulty with.

Thank for the feedback. Yes, killers have messaged me that. I typically do not respond. Why does it seem that so many high ranks killers have highly inflated egos? Anyway, my biggest issue is not lasting very long in chases when I am discovered and I try to lose them with stealth, but they’re too savvy most of the time. Then I end up getting tunneled after I’m hooked because I’m easier prey.

  • @Mochan said:

There is actually something you can try.

What I did was up my stealth game to immersion level but only to avoid the killer early. Spine Chill is a must. Then I run no Mither and resilience and rely on my team to loop while I do gens.

I also worked on my juke game. You also need to prep for spirit and nurse. Though in your case I think just spirit? Since you're on PS4.

It's. Not super consistent though so I never reached rank 1.

Thank you for your feedback. I will try that. I guess if I’m going to run no mither I need to run iron will.

  • @survivormain1105 said:

And when playing those killers. It's like you almost always have to use sweaty meta perks.. . Also =no fun... I want to run meme perk builds and get enjoyment.

Exactly. I’m tired of running the same perks over and over and over. It’s no fun. After a long stressful day at work, I just want to unwind and enjoy myself. I use to be able to run certain “fun” perk builds and enjoy experimenting.

  • @survivormain1105 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/90276/advice-for-someone-struggling-in-red-ranks

Hey run, from the red ranks. It's horrible. I hate being rank 1 it's just to easy to reach

I’m so unhappy in red ranks. I don’t have any fun. The killers figure out I’m not an expert looper so they tunnel me. I got to red ranks last season, but late in the season so I didn’t have to wait long for reset. This time it only took me less than a week. Now I’m stuck.

  • @Mochan said:

I ran into this exact same hurdle like half a year ago. Stealth can take you to red but it doesn't work in Red. The killers are too savvy to be fooled by stealth. You need to learn loops.

Killers at this level are also very strategic. They know the weak link - - you. If the game is not going in their favor they will tunnel you to get momentum back.

Nothing to be done but learn to loup.

Yes that’s exactly it. Stealth isn’t working anymore. I can loop to a certain degree, but I’m far from being good enough to handle red rank killers.

Neither is getting a heads up going to either...

It's the Killers play-style to tunnel you, that's not really gonna be changed by a mori sadly... I guess they're more inclined to tunnel you BECAUSE of the mori I suppose?

I agree. Either way once I'm hooked I'm as good as dead. If I suspect a killer has an ebony mori, why would I want to go into that match knowing that I will be tunneled as soon as I'm hooked? Those matches are completely unenjoyable 98% of the time.

  • @MegMain98 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/710269#Comment_710269

Yet a mori isn’t considered sweating? You take away two hooks states and can take somebody out of the game in about a minute. Pretty sure they had such a thrilling game. Moris are so broken my dude.

I'm tired of the fact that every killer I encounter with a mori tunnels me hard after I'm hooked once. Not getting a heads up isn't going to change that.

  • I couldn't care less. As it is, I have no qualms about people backing out when they know there's a mori. I can't remember the last time I played a match with an ebony mori where the killer didn't tunnel everyone hard after being hooked. I've grown tired of it.

  • PS4: This has actually happened to me quite often. I always know how many BP I have going into a match. I've had matches where Killer DCs & it takes me back to the lobby with no BP earned or sometimes it shows me the results of the previous match with no BP earned. I haven't been using WGLF lately because it's buggy. Sometimes I don't get the bonus BP. I had a long match recently with 4 stacks. My score was 29K so I was psyched to get double points, but I didn't get the bonus. I'm not going to waste a perk slot when there's a chance it won't give me the bonus.

  • Sometimes the wrong person gets targeted. I had a match where someone cleansed a hex totem near me and I got chased, downed, hooked, and tunneled hard. I had to know so I messaged the killer and he confirmed it was because he thought I cleansed the totem. I'm like you got the wrong person. Of course, I've had other cases of mistaken identity as well particularly when you have a twin in the match. Anyone ever experience that?

  • What is the reasoning (or suspected reasoning) behind changing it or was it not a purposeful change?

  • @Almo said:

Everyone using this perk is making it very hard to get NOED to work. :(

That's true. I went into a match yesterday where all of us were Nancy. It was literally a race to find the totems!

  • @MedicSpirit7 said:

I know i’ve been using with head on also it’s a fun combo

I've been using it with Head On too. It's so much fun. I was so lucky that when the chapter was released I used my saved BP on Nancy and Head On appeared within 20 levels. I want to include Quick & Quiet for the trifecta. It also think it's cool that it's like a magic trick. I wish you could jump in the locker and transform your outfit like Superman changing in the phone booth lol.

  • It's not for noobs on PS4. I see it a lot in the green and purple ranks on PS4. One night when I was playing toward the end of last season in purple ranks almost every match killer had NOED, BBQ, Nurse's Calling & Ruin. I remember thinking...isn't that a tad overkill?

  • @ArrowTheGreat11 said:

I get the opposite lol and I’m on PS4. Daytime tunnelers and nighttime everyone is chill

I wish that was the case for me on PS4 as I am a night owl. Maybe you're getting all the stoners lol.

  • @Boss said:

That might be because of bad school/work days.

Yeah I figured people who have the day off are more relaxed and less cranky than those who have just finished school or work.

  • I played a ton of games yesterday and most of the killers in purple ranks didn't seem to struggle very much, but I played mostly solo survivor on PS4. Those little rooms on the second floor don't benefit the survivor very much especially that tiny room with the pallet.

  • 10 matches and still haven’t played the new map on PS4

  • PS4: I wish I didn't have to run DS, but ever since I started getting to green and purple ranks consistently, I get tunneled so often it's become part of my meta build. There are plenty of other perks I'd rather use in that slot, but it is what it is. I've had matches where I've been tunneled so hard hook after hook that DS saved me from depipping. A lot of killers who suspect I have DS leave me on the ground for a minute while they do other stuff. I swear some of them have timers as sometimes I get picked up immediately after 1 minute has passed.

  • I've been in several SWF matches this past season where the killer disconnected and none of us got any points. Some of these matches were 15-20 minutes long. The score page in each case showed our scores with zero for the killer yet no actual BP gain for any of us. It's so frustrating and such a waste of time.

  • I like your enthusiasm. We can only hope. I'm such a huge F13 fan and bought that game upon release and played it like crazy until it died out, which led me to getting this game. Happy Friday the 13th! For me and I'm sure many other horror fanatics, this a holiday.

  • It would be interesting to track the whole season especially with the new chapter. I might try that. I'm starting the season at rank 11 on PS4.

The OP already stated that there were things that survivors did that agitate them and that they did none of the things that are rightfully considered toxic. (Using items, utilising perks and tactics don't count, unless either side is using one of their made up rules) They aren't stating its only killers, they were asking why they were being camped (intentionally apparently given the replies they received) when they were not being intentionally toxic.

It seems to be the knee jerk reaction for the other side to get defensive immediately when a post like this goes up. Most of us know the other side can be toxic, it doesn't mean someone can't have a complaint, and it doesn't really justify it for either side if the the opposite side does something similar.

At the end of the day they could simply be asking because in this case, they might receive more of it from the killers.

@Cassandra_Alexandra I can't honestly tell you why people get offended tbh, because I don't understand it. As long as a player doesn't grief, teabag, mori spam or any of the actual toxic traits, nobody really earns that kind of negative attention. It's just become far too acceptable to react harshly to imagined slights. I do have to point out however, that camping is still a legit strategy, no mater how annoying it might be. I personally don't myself since its a silly way to let people gen rush you, but some choose to do it.

Thank you. I appreciate the thoughtful and insightful feedback.

  • @SlothGirly said:

Honestly the only time I camp is to secure atleast one kill in a losing game, or if I'm basement build on bubba. Otherwise I'm likely to tunnel if you have bright cosmetics because you're kind of asking for it. or if I cna confirm SWF and feel like making somebody angry, but thats only on my own bad days.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I never thought about the cosmetic thing.

  • @Locker_Monster said:

You say that like it's only Killers.

I once downed someone; First find of the match. I chased them & downed them because

    1) No gens were popping

    2) I did not see anyone else.

They DC'd almost the SECOND they went into Dying state. Like, they must have had a friend ready to pull the plug for them.

They found my steam account, added me, and proceeded to claim they'd get me steam banned, and that I was tunneling, a tryhard, sweaty, a fat nolife out to ruin people's fun. It was rapid fire IM's over the course of 10 minutes while I just cackled.

Both sides can be toxic jerks, not just Killers.

Sorry. I didn't say "only" killers. For the purposes of this post, I'm talking about killers specifically. I understand that survivors can be easily pissed off as well.

  • @DaS_only said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/630644#Comment_630644

MAYBE the hiding is pissing of killers. Like hardcore stealth survivors. I personally tunnel hardcore stealthy survivors till no tomorrow.

I've read posts of killers that tunnel hook saboteurs, pallet loopers, teabaggers, excessive same window vaulters, hardcore gen regressors, body blockers, flashlight users, hardcore stealthy survivors, etc. Is there anything that doesn't piss off a killer except maybe the survivor walking out in plain sight, standing there while making no sudden moves/rude gestures & patiently waiting for the killer to come down them & hook them?

  • I've been playing 8 months now and have always been a survivor main, I am a horror fanatic and love the whole idea of trying to survive, the chases, etc. I especially like playing at night with all the lights off, etc. I try to create an atmosphere. Of course, toxic players can ruin that experience. I never thought I'd want to be a killer main, but lately for the first time I have been playing killer more often. Most times I am a nice killer. I just want to have fun and earn as many BP as possible so I keep track of how many times I've hooked each survivor so I can try for max hooks without killing them. Those matches were the best because everyone seems to be having fun and at the end I usually get close to 29K and survivors pretty high as well. The main reason for my wanting to play survivor less is the constant tunneling, camping, slugging, etc. I don't mind if it happens now and then, but lately it's been happening like 75-80% of my matches and that's just too much. I usually can't get past green ranks (PS4). Taking a break from playing solo survivor is a good thing for me.

  • I think it's fine. Besides, it sucks so many times when I'm the obsession the killer knows I have DS and they down me after the unhook and purposefully leave me on the ground for the full minute. Does that happen to anyone else?

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I usually don't wiggle when I'm the last survivor, either. I accept defeat, and I'm fine with dying and moving on to the next game. The killer usually just hooks me. Sometimes, I'm given the hatch. Once, I had a killer (Doctor) do pretty much the same thing to me that happened to you, carrying me all over the Disturbed Ward map until he found the hatch, then putting me on a hook right next to it. I didn't care that I died, but I was annoyed at how much time he wasted. I didn't message him or anything, though, because that would've given him what he wanted: a reaction.

That was back before EGC. It hasn't changed me usually not wiggling, and it's thankfully a rare event because it's still only happened to me that one time. (I'm on the PS4, too.)

The killer you faced was just a troll. Don't let it get to you.

That sums up my response to why I didn't wiggle and why I was annoyed. You're right. I should not have messaged him. These kind of people not only get off on doing these kinds of things, but they also get off on getting a reaction. I just couldn't believe that he called me a r**ard for not disconnecting.

  • It's annoying when people say git gud or don't get caught when it comes to camping or tunneling. It's a fact that these strategies ruin the experience for other players thus resulting in a lot of these people disconnecting. I know of people who have stop playing the game because it's gotten out of hand. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to see the player database keep shrinking for this and various other reasons.

  • I understand that tunneling is a strategy and sometimes killers feel they need to tunnel to take someone out of the game to improve their odds or they just want to take out a toxic survivor. However, I've seen so many survivors DCN from being tunneled. You don't know what their successive match play experience has been like. Maybe that's the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. game in a row that they've been tunneled and they're fed up. I was tunneled off every hook hard last night 3x in a row. I was done after that. No wonder people want to play SWF. I play 90% solo, but if more of my friends still played, I would play SWF more.

  • There's also some survivors that DCN or suicide because the killer is being toxic. Although I don't teabag, body block or run endless loops, I still get tunneled, face camped, slugged & left on ground (for entire health bars) a lot more than I should. It's making me want to quit the game at times. I've been playing since November. I became addicted pretty fast and have put in a lot of hours, but I keep running into more & more killers that ruin my experience. Of course, the typical response is "I don't care," "Git Gud," or some lovely expletive. I had a killer recently trap me in a corner and then just stood there. I wanted to DCN so bad after waiting like 10+ seconds. I got up and went to do something else while the game played out. My point is that there are also non-toxic players out there that may end of quitting the game because of recurring situations like this.

  • I had this happen to me 6 out of 10 matches last night. It was getting ridiculous. So that ended up being 12-24 minutes wasted. I hope after enough times passes, this becomes more rare.

  • I completely agree with previous post. I don't believe that "people who have 10 second chases" should be criticized. I try my hardest, but I'm not the best in chases, depending on the killer. Sometimes I have good days and am able to give really long chases, but a lot of the time it is like 10 seconds. I try my best to be stealthy so I'm not found, but I will fix gens at every opportunity, cleanse hex totems, save people at every opportunity, etc. I try to be a useful as possible.
