Although I have not stopped playing killer I am playing less and I expect to be playing less going into the future unless some changes are made, (exception maybe when new killer comes out, cause you know there is always a spike for while when that happens)

Something that has helped me stay playing killer longer is being more selective which lobbies I take and rejecting certain lobbies for some of the following reasons...

    1) More likely to dodge Swf's (Exceptions for people I like of course)

    2) Paying more attention to the ######### list - People who have shown the double standard mentality, survivors have great freedom to do what they want, killers are demanded to play in a much more restrictive way (The survivor rule book, now in hard back edition, available from all good bookshops)

    2) Blendettes, HAHAHAH get the ######### out of here, plus they make us other Claudettes look bad :(. How about putting on a nice hat or something ?

    3) Keys - Work hard after a bad start to get it to 1 gen, 3 survivors for them to jump down the hatch, no thanks.

    4) Nea with a flash light - Holy hell she is ugly as sin

    5) Shirtless David - You trying to body shame me with this sexy beast ?

    6) Got a bad vibe from this group NEXT

    7) Not really feeling it NEXT

    8) OOOoooooo piece of candy

    9) Got distracted, what was I doing again ?

    10) Sometimes just keep re-lobbying until I see some familiar names and play killer for them.

And if a survivor gets mad about getting sent back to the waiting queue for 5 maybe 10 mins as some one who has being subject to the survivor rule book mentality more times than I can count, just picture me playing the worlds smallest violin.

On ps4 theres no re que. You just sit and wait for another killer to join. Which I think is a fan- ######### -tastic system.

It's not exclusive to Dead by Daylight. All video games have a shelf life. If you're not having fun anymore, there's nothing wrong with walking away from it & taking a break. There's a lot of games out there that are super fun.

I loved Stardew Valley, Hearthstone & Graveyard Keeper... but eventually, I stopped having fun with them in-game, so I walked away from them. I might return later, or they might get more content, so I could go back. But for right now, I play other stuff.

If DBD ever gets to the point where I am not having fun with it, I'll take a break. Everyone else should do the same.

Don't fall into the sunken cost fallacy - either with money or time. If you stop having fun, it's fine to take a break for awhile. Or for good.

Stardew Valley IS getting a new update. Was announced like 3 days ago? I know it's off topic, but you may wanna check it out. :P

  • Realizing rank means nothing.

Realizing there is no point to grind sweaty games for rank 1 ever again.

Realizing I have more fun chasing people and ######### around scaring them than TRYING to get the 4k.

Once it clicks that theres no reason to be sweaty, and that playing the killer just for the sake of playing it is fun, you stop worrying about kills and escapes and just play it for the fun.

Of course 4ks are sweet af, but ya know what's better? Getting 0k and still making more bp than the 4 who escaped.

  • The same reason face campers get salty when 4 escape.

Because that person needs a way to feel powerful, or in control, and when they feel that way, and it's taken away from them, they have a mini explosion in their brain and cant handle it.

Slowdowns are not fun and balanced.

    Cooldowns are.

So you're saying put a charge meter on SWF and you take a fatigue stun after exiting a game as SWF? I like it. Keep it in line with the rest of DBD.

Also, missing a skill check while your SWF meter is full, kicks you out into a solo game vs 2 killers.

Because games are supposed to be fun. For me and the most others, camping isnt fun. Its not a reason to rage but still.

If you dont find the game fun, dont play it. But saying, "my fun is more important than THEIR fun," isnt helping at all.

Maybe the killer enjoys camping (as ######### as that sounds) and just wants a friend to hang out with every match. Why should they be denied fun?

Maybe they find punishing overly altruistic saves against campers especially rewarding.

It's a game, dont let it bother you. If other peoples actions dictate your fun, maybe you're not actually having fun anymore.

And I dont say this in a snippy snap back kind of way, I mean it genuinely. I quit rocket league after the battlepass, came back and realized i just wasnt having fun. Not because of bad teammates (or people throwing the game) or missed plays or lag, those were excuses. I just wasnt having fun.

Getting downed on purpose to stun killer with ds( in case killer picks survivor up ) is a tactic too.

Which most killers know and will leave you on the ground. Even if you dont have DS.

  • @SirCracken said:

For supposedly being an "anti-tunnel" perk, it sure is easy to force the killer to eat the stun.

You force a killer to follow you (tunneling) to a locker and open it or stand there? Interesting view.

Most killers would, idk, just not follow you? And if they see you get in a locker, idk, ######### off and find someone else?

I didnt know you could FORCE killers to open lockers. I'm gonna have to try that.

To be fair, the 4min game issue has merit.

I played vs. a Doc on Temple shortly after the ruin nerf, I specifically remember timing it no toolboxes and being solo.

    Last gen popped at 4:30~

Obviously this is not how all game go, but maps being the size of a city are bad for the game

I know, I'm slightly exaggerating, I've ran a killer for 3 gens in about 3 or 4 mins.

But it takes 80 seconds do do a gen, assuming you're on one of them, 3 doing 5 would take at least 2 and a half mins, if done optimally, with no bullshit and knowing exactly where the next gens are.

I also know the maps are more of an issue than actual gen speed, but we werent given a map or clip to base it off of.

Plus, on the other hand, there are games where you kill everyone in under 5 mins, or keep them from doing the last gen for 20 mins.

A one off 4 minute (I still doubt) gen rush isnt enough to just go, "yep let's make gens take longer".

  • I love the, "dont assume everyone knows how to flashlight."

Like, I dont, I just know I'm not giving the opportunity if you do or dont lol.

  • @Kycer said:

I only struggle against those who do gens while injured.. I believe that the whole gen rush problem would be fixed if injured survivors had a penalty to their gen preparing speed.

Honestly, I'm surprised it doesnt already exist. Other than the fact thanataphobia exists so they dont want to "wash out" a perk by just adding its little bro as base kit.

But why arent survivors slowed even by like 3% for being injured? Bloody mangled hands working on machinery? Come on. Slipping all over #########.

  • 4 minutes with no pressure sounds like a you issue.

Like, yes, games are fast, but really? 3 people did 5 gens in 4 minutes? ######### were you doing?

    Chasing one person for 3:30?

Also, it's almost as if they're releasing toolbox changes to watch gen speeds and see if something needs to be done. Damn. I wish they would LoOk At ObJeCtIvE tImEs.

I know that may sounds weird but in a real life scenario it might be ,,fair to camp" but its a game and games are meant to make fun. Also it may be the main objective to kill the survivors but its also their objective to chase them. Also if a killer camp and tunnel there can be times where survivors cant do anything against and thats not fair for me. Also i say this as a killer.

Exactly. It's a game. If someone camps and tunnels, why care so much? It's a GAME.

  • @rechstan said:

What kind of games do you really want? a game that lasts more than 1 year or dies in a few months? Stop the murderers tunneling with 5 generators at once. It makes no sense this way of playing. the killer who goes for the weakest since the beginning of the match, it really makes no sense. A killer who doesn't let anyone play. It is disgusting and gives the game a bad name but it seems that you don't care. It is a multiplayer game, we all have the right to play and not die on the hook without doing anything. Seriously, this can't go on like this. This attitude kills the players. penalize players who do not let others play.

    This is Rich.

    "Stop camping and tunneling."

"Do you want the game to die in a few months?"

Don't understand playing killer? I was rank 1 for a long time...I only stopped because i got bored of it. I never tunneled or camped once as killer so i'm not sure why it is used so much.

How about instead of people moaning on the forums about apparently how OP survivor perks are, figure out new ways to play...most killers who are moaning are the ones who think that they have to get 4 Kills EVERY game for it to be fair to the killer. Face IT, people will die, people will live, but to moan because survivors run perks that counter certain killer playstyles is annoying. I could run Detectives Hunch, Inner Strength, Bond & Iron Will. I would still escape easily. No need to run "OP" perks.

It's funny how i never see any survivors complain as much on the forums as killers do. I'm quite happy for killers to run Noed, Third Seal, Devour hope. All fun totems and make it more difficult to escape. If most killers just played for fun instead of trying to sweat and pip (for no reason because ranks are pointless)...they would have WAY less to complain about.

The only thing I will say is bad for killers is the map sizes, which they are working on anyways. Plus how weak base game killers are like Wraith and Trapper. I get it. I'm sure they're working on a fix, but i don't get why killers are moaning so much and acting like they're doing the devs a favour...

"I never see any survivors complaining on the forums as much as killers".

    So are you just blind?

  • @Zaitsev said:

Having a casual mode is a great idea if you ask me.

Well that's good! Because the entire ######### game is casual. There is no ranked or competetive mode. 🤷‍♀️

Ever notice how the few survivor complaints that get traction, usually result in a change? Nurse, Ruin, Legion, etc.

Im not sure why this is so hard for you to comprehend, you are just wrong, ask any dev, this is reportable for holding the game hostage and is bannable.

It does not matter if you agree or not, these are the rules.

    Hahahahahahahahah. Aww you're cute.

Trying to tell me the rules like I havent had to link the reportable offenses to people like you a hundred times on this forum. Love it.

Look up what holding the game hostage actually is.

"Preventing the game from being played or ending intentionally to the detriment of others."

If either side can move the game state, its not a hostage situation. The killer can, they're just bad at it.

So a killer is bad at their job, so we ban the survivors who dont get caught?

That's great. Nice job. You had me thinking you actually believed that nonsense for a minute.

I needed a good laugh today. Thanks.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/126060/we-need-more-facecamping-its-not-toxic

If they're t-bagging then fair enough, I understand the facecamp/tunnel. They basically asked for it.

Gen rushing isn't a valid reason tho imo. At least it's not unless all gens are complete and it's to secure a kill. Otherwise you're just denying yourself more chases, more bloodpoints, and making the game go even faster.

Also, you're most likely facecamping because you're mad that you couldn't catch the survivor which just boosts their ego even more; and if that isn't the case then I have news for you...

    You're the toxic one.

Wow you really felt the need to attack them eh? Get face camped a lot?

I think it was more on the side of "if they're genrushing and I know I cant stop it, I'm going to secure at least one kill". Which is the smart play. If 4 gens are done and the last about to pop with 3 other people not hooked once, why the ######### would they give up the one kill they can actually obtain?

  • @BenZ0 said:

    @bobcat946732

Yeah agree. But I wonder, I heared once from Ardetha that 3 gen for 10min is reportable to the Killer. But that is exactly the same situation what I mentioned in this post. The Killer dont wants to give up so he is trying his best to "survivor" by protecting the last 3 gens and trying to get a kill like that. So I wonder... why is the Killer not allowed to "tryhard" for his win but the survivors are??

The killer is. If they're making a genuine attempt to catch someone while patrolling 3 gens, and not just looking at them to scare them off. If the survivors keep healing, coming back, getting hit, running, etc that's not hostage.

Especially since they could just let themselves get caught and die if they wanted to be done.

The killer is playing smart by not abandoning a 3 gen setup, just as survivors hiding are being smart by not immediately dying and causing the 4th to be screwed via bbq or hatch close.

And again, on EITHER side, if you think you cant win, or it's a stalemate, give up. Dont sit in it for 20 mins then complain about it. Let them kill you, or go afk and let them escape. It's easier than wandering around for 20 mins then complaining.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1135189#Comment_1135189

Yes making no attempt to progress the game and just hiding and actively moving around so you dont get crows, that is holding the game hostage.

It's almost as if the killer can find and kill people.

Or if they're suspecting the survivors are playing stealthily and smart, go afk if you dont want to search (you know, your job as killer).

  • @CornHub said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1135092#Comment_1135092

Hatch stand-offs were also seen as a strategy. Hiding and not doing anything isn't, and if its obvious you aren't going to do anything is reportable. I'm not saying the killer deserves to win in these situations, but they shouldn't be forced to run whispers bcuz 2 survivors decide to stop playing.

Hatch standoffs were NOT strategy. It was two people both too ######### stubborn to risk a "loss" instead of looking at each other for 30 mins.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1135095#Comment_1135095

Is this really holding the game hostage though? Once the killer finds one of them the game will end. To me it seems more of a stalemate of the survivors not wanting to die but not being able to do anything about it, especially if they're not in an SWF. How many people are just going to kill themselves to give the random a chance at the hatch?

I agree something should be done to prevent situations like these but unless you can prove the survivors intent (being they wanted to simply waste time), it seems like this wouldn't really be a case of holding the game hostage.

Honestly, this situation is pretty close to a 3-gen killer that won't commit to chases. It just kind of ends up as a stalemate until one side simply gives up or powers through.

Yeah this isnt hostage holding as much as them just hiding. Find one and game ends.

Or go afk and let them leave. If you seriously cant find them and dont want to waste time, afk and watch youtube. Or DC and eat the penalty.

But wanting to punish people for playing stealthily and you cant find them....is crazy.

The DC penalty is a joke.

Lately I’ve been getting killers who refuse to hook survivors they deliberate keeping you slugged for 4mins because they want you to force you into DCing. I can not stand being slugged. It’s the one thing that angers me the most in this game.

Me and my friend were playing together. I got tunneled to death and the other survivors just Killed himself. My friend and the random survivors were the only two survivors left. He down them both and instead of putting them on the hook and end the game. He just stood over their bodies nodding, spinning and lunging his weapon.

It’s is unfair you are being forced to stay in the game longer than it’s needed to be. Of course my friend DCed because the killer was refusing to put him on the hook and end the game and of course my friend gets unfairly punished for 5mins, because of a dick head killer.

Unfairly punished for DC? No that's fair.

They didnt want to wait 4 mins to bleed so they can wait 5 mins for DC.

You can maybe check my logs then! my last intentional DC was about 36 hours ago and it was only 1 DC cause of an annoying kid tbaging on top of me for 5 mins waiting for me to bleed out as last survivor and I had 5 minutes penalty

I was in a Chase with Oni, all sudden my player froze, couldnt move, Oni was moving, he hit me once, and he was moving around me no idea what did he see, then a Loading Screen! boom 15 minutes! score board showed me and Oni as DC

Didnt take a screen shot of that score board as I didnt think I would see 15 minutes after pressing continue!

Teabagging for 5 mins when bleedout is 4. Lol.

And then come back here to complain about them?

Why not just either quit, and dont tell everyone (bc nobody cares), or realize that them having it release a week later than normal has nothing to do with what you're ranting about, and wouldnt change why you're complaining in the first place.

  • They didnt give a specific date for this exact reason. So people wouldnt take off days of work to play a video game then get mad about it.

The delay could be ANYTHING from bugs, needing to be authorized on a console, issues with the files or any other number of issues.

If you're going to respond can you actually make a case? You ever ask yourself why so little people use it?

Because while it functions as a good perk with a significant drawback for solo survivors, that isn't what this perk is good for, not what it is used for.

It is used, plain and simple, for SWF groups, usually of varying size. That alone changes it from a perk with a significant drawback to a perk with constant information feedback. SWFs already have the advantage of communicating your position when one sees you, now you have someone dedicated to looping you or warning you of when you're nearing the gen they're about to pop.

I'm genuinely angered that you actually compared this perk to Iron Will and Deliverance.

I didnt compare it to either. I pointed out to you how we can make stupid arguments about how a perk is "unhealthy", and you apparently are angered by it. Which tells me you either know I'm right, or are so stubbornly attached to the idea that OoO is a scourge of this game that I feel bad for you.

I made a perfectly fine case, and it's one you have apparently no rebuttal for.

You claim swf is why OoO is broken.

2 man swf, how broken is it. 50% has no idea and the 2 that do, are likely going to die for it.

3 man swf. Same thing. One person has no idea, and that can snowball. 3 people know, and are on comms, but can still easily lose to it. Also, 3 man swf are not common AND hit squads. Mostly friends bullshitting.

4 man swf, sure, they can use it better. How often do they happen. 4 man swf is less than 5%. And again, mostly friends bullshitting.

The "swf hit squads" youre trying to use in this situation are so rare, and the perk use is so low, that it almost has no real affect to the games health at all.

It is used so little already, that to use a hypothetical situation that ITSELF happens so rarely, and then to add in OoO, to debate it being unhealthy is ridiculous.

I'm sorry you cant understand the concept of, yes. It may be broken for swf squads, but those teams dont exist enough to warrant this perk being an issue.

I also feel really bad that you're ANGERED by a discussion about a video game, and more so by the fact that you're mad because you MISUNDERSTOOD my point and wanted to argue against it.

Hopefully your day gets better, but I'm out. You're not using logic, and just arguing to argue because OoO is apparently the devil for you.

Well, I think we could debate endlessly about what the objective of a survivor is and for me, personally, it's not so much about genrushing the frigg out of the game, but rather pipping. Not so much to rank up, because that'a a finite objective, but more so because the higher your rank is, the more you have to do ingame to get a pip. It becomes more of a challenge I'd say.

What you say is basically what I was trying to convey, too. Sure, you can just follow your main objective and leave asap, but that wont get you pipping. In order to pip, at least in red ranks, you're supposed to so some things on top of that. This is where I see a definite connection between the main objective and pipping, so I don't really get your point about that these objectives are not directly connected?

No, we CANT argue endlessly about the objective, because it is said plainly in game that the survivors objective is to complete generators and escape. It explicitly tells us that.

The objective is to escape. Not to "rank up" when rank means nothing.

And I say they're not connected because doing your objective (gens/escaping) and feeding into playing a certain way to pip up in a system that is literally JUST for matchmaking (saves, blinds, chases, etc), are unrelated.

Doing your objective is one thing.

Going out of your way to play into a system that doesnt matter is another.

on a sort of unrelated note, I hate that I have to buy a skin for Adam to use his perks effectively. His default outfit is the easiest thing to see in this entire game, it's ridiculous.

Have you not seen the gold and red dwight, nea, or claud? Or the neon outfits for claudette.

Or the pink and red demon feng outfit.

    Or the glowing outfits.

    Or megs tie dye hoodie.

Or any other of a plethora of bright ass clothes?

Adam's isnt bad, and you dont technically have to buy #########. Prestige him and its covered in blood.

Besides, pebble isnt great if they're looking AT you anyway. Deliverance requires you to be caught, and autodidact is for healing. Which you shouldnt so in their los regardless.

That map is sooo painful to my eyes to play as killer..

they need to adjust the brightness

    Or you adjust your brightness?

  • I mean I see everything fine there.

I play on a monitor that is a little bright/washed out color to it, so that may help, but it's not causing frame issues or invisibility for me. Darker than others? Oh absolutely.

Ruin, NoED, Object, it doesn't matter what the counterplay was.

They were and are perks that are unhealthy for the game.

Object is unhealthy for the game. It rewards the survivor using it with free information. It's designed specifically for survivor exploitation. The survivor gains full info on the Killer that he can relay to the team, while the Killer gets the aura of one survivor?

Its unhealthy in what, 3% of matches? Even then it's not that bad ffs.

We could argue deliverance is unhealthy.

Or that iron will and calm spirit are unhealthy.

It doesnt make it true, especially given how often the perks are used.

If 1% of people are affected by A, and 99% are affected by B, do you really expect A and B to both be handled the same way?

Also, they cant relay the info to the team unless they're IN a team. Less than what, 5% or 9% are 4 man swf? So with just 3, one person doesnt have a ######### clue.

On top of that, it doesnt give you ALL the info. You see the killer. Who it is. That's it. You don't know their build, their addons, how they play, etc..

It's like seeing a Laurie and KNOWING she has DS, only to see her with a 4 perk heal build. You dont know ######### just by the character.

    "Survivor exploitation"

You mean literally showing the killer where you are, so that you can see who/where they are? That's called a trade off.

But I'm so close to 1 million. I'd never get that close again without going over.

I am aware how sad this sounds!

Oh, lol, then hit 1 mil first and screenshot it! Lol. I spent like 2 mil a week ago for oni finally with bp and shards, just got back up to 950 last night, but I keep spending down to 900 so I dont lose bp by earning more than the cap lol.

  • 40 minutes? Try requeueing?

After 10 mins re ready up. 40 mins is just....stupid.

Also, 12 gens done? And THEN you get the message before you can see the people in lobby. In the lobby you just did 12 gens?

Also, if this keeps happening, try reinstalling? Resetting internet and pc/console?

Like I get the DC from party error, but not that often, and never mid game.

  • Play what you want to.

But the best thing you can do to "be nice" is hook and leave for someone else. Dont camp, let everyone have a shot at the whole game, and keep rotating targets. Which is actually a decent strategy anyway, but still.

If you slug someone because you have no hook, just leave them as bait for heals/not getting gens done.

I don’t know how anyone can defend this perk. It literally only benefits swf and the way it works in conjunction with large maps and numerous obstacles basically ensures survivors get the better end of the deal.

It’s incredibly toxic and harmful to killers like Freddy (rip old Freddy who could ignore that pos until the others were down) and Hag. No killer welcomes it because it literally never works in the killer’s favor.

If they insist on not changing it, survivors who get caught using it should be exposed.

"Literally never works in the killers favor."

So you dealt with what, one or two OoO that you didnt get?

It doesnt "literally never" work. It works a lot. You just have to play smart with it. You cant see someone across the cold wind farm and say, "hey, I think I'm gonna spend 45 seconds running over and looking for them."

How do you counter it besides randomly choosing a stealth killer?

    You know... the 3.3/18 killers?

Considering the amount of ghostfaces and pigs I've been facing lately, I'd say it's a decent chance to be countered.
