  • I would gladly trade the meager cleansing/blessing speed buff for a buff to the aura-reading.

My favorite suggestion was to add exit gates, and reveal the auras of any survivors interacting with generators, chests, and exit gates.

I'm just pointing out there are reasons for depipping to exist, and not everyone outright hates depipping (at least not in the fashion to where it should be removed). Climbing the ladder is a challenge, and a challenge only works as a challenge if you can lose. Without the ability to lose, its purely a grind with no stakes.

Yes, depipping sucks... you're not supposed to like depipping, its a counterbalance to the high of getting 2 pips. However you can't have the highs without the lows, the lows in fact are what define the highs.

If you study game design, your intrinsic motivation to play a game is at its strongest when you're close to reaching a goal, but haven't reached it yet... every single rank is a goal. The point of depipping is set stakes to keep you playing and invested in winning, especially when you're just a pip away to the next rank.

Do you play to win harder when you're 1 pip away from ranking up? Of course you do. Do you play more chill when you dont have a pip and cant possibly lise one? Of course you do. Everyone does, because that's the psychological effect pips provide.

So what I'm saying is, if you remove depiping, you may as well just remove the whole grading system entirely and just grant more blood points rewards from the end game. Without depips the system is pointless, and I'm not saying that to be condecending, I'm being serious. If you don't want depips, remove the entire grading system completely, because it has no function without them.

So long as the game is designed in a way where a player can be almost entirely prevented from playing the game for reasons completely outside of their own control, there is no reason for depipping to exist. It is an unfair punishment that does not encourage improvement, it does not encourage anything except additional stress and frustration.

His perks don't look any good either you'll probably see him once every 10 games once he comes out and his perks even less

People don't really play survivors because of their perks. You're just being bitter at people for enjoying something that doesn't appeal to you.

  • I'm gonna run Repressed Alliance. Killers can't block my generator if I block it first.

I like the idea of: -

    • Deadline with Autodidact
    • Boon: Illumination with Overzealous
    • Champion of Light, is his best perk, but I suck with flashlights...

So yeah, I'll be grabbing it.

I'm thinking of pairing Illumination with Circle of Healing. If my soloQ teammates have the sense to retreat to the boon to heal each other, it'll be healing and info-sharing in one. They're the two Boons that benefit best from being far away from the killer.

At first, thought it was a half-cyborg killer and once the trailer dropped my brain must have swapped to coping mode and thought 'Oh so a black market arms dealer murderer kinda situation?'

I wasn't prepared for dark manga...

I had the same idea. When I saw her perks had a mix of human-hunting and business themes in their descriptions, I thought her character (who is called the SKULL MERCHANT) was going to be a high-tech arms dealer who tested/demonstrated her products on real people, getting rich off of selling weapons technology and indulging her own sadism at the same time.

    Instead it was...manga.

I still don't even know why she's called the Skull Merchant.

i Will. Started playing Alan wake remastered. I like the voice acting and I know I’ll like at least two cosmetics. Champion of Light is a fun meme perk I plan to use after a few weeks when killers stop bring lightborn which will be inevitable

Survivors are going to be running flashlights a lot to use it, and killers will be bringing Lightborn a lot if they see flashlights in lobbies.

My suggestion is to go into the match with no item and instead use Residual Manifest to scavenge a flashlight from a chest, to catch them by surprise, assuming your teammates aren't running flashlights too. Flashbang might work too, if they haven't patched that out on live servers.

  • There really should be some tweaks, some updates. Everyone's stressed about Sadako being nerfed but there is no word on Alan Wake flying by without comment. It feels like BHVR never listens to feedback on new perks, so what's the point of PTBs?

It's not an unpopular opinion. It's critically acclaimed, so it's a hot topic for the industry which is why journalists talk about it a lot and why collabs are happening.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634387#Comment_3634387

I am happy about Alan Wake DLC but i can understand why people are disappointed. It wasn't a popular request. I personally never heard of Alan Wake until i saw it on PS Plus monthly games. I think most people did not play Alan Wake 2, considering the first one was in 2010.

A lot of people don't find his appearance appealing as a skin and his perks are not popular. So if you don't like or know or are not interested in Alan Wake then you probably won't like this DLC at all. I think a lot of people are in that position.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634423#Comment_3634423

The DLC being something that a lot of people don't like means they have to wait longer for one they may like. We don't know when the next standalone survivor will be so for people that want Elvira or maybe another real life survivor, they don't how long they will have to wait.

I really don't want another real-life survivor. I want Nic Cage to remain a one-off thing.

  • Yeah I'm buying it, for the character. His perks are okay-ish but I just want to play as Alan Wake. Plus he is going to be in the Tome as well and there will inevitably be challenges that require playing as him. All the more reason to enjoy a character I like.

there were multiple people in this thread explicitly saying they would refuse to unhook anyone who attempted to 4%, specifically to punish the attempt at a 4%, and that they would point-blank refuse to rescue the person on second hook. the first of those meets the definition of "spite" and the second fits the definition of "letting a teammate die".

i may not be able to read your mind, but i can certainly read the posts of other people in this thread and i'm willing to trust people are telling the truth about their motivations - unless you're willing to break the forum rules by accusing those other users of lying and trolling?

The forum is irrelevant. You can't report people in-game for this behavior unless they explicitly say so in-game, because it would be the only proof you can show.

  • No tweaks for Alan Wake's perks is disappointing.

  • I thought she looked ridiculous. I was imagining a cyborg, some kind of technological abomination straight out of an 80s sci-fi movie. Then Skull Merchant was revealed and it was just a woman in bland clothing with a terrible-looking mask.

  • @Mooks said:

Got the games in a sale a few weeks ago. Haven’t played them yet and am kinda excited.

Dont know why it got so many ‚haters‘ that don’t even know anything about it? From everything I know about it, it’s a pretty good fit for DbD.. and getting a killer added later would also be a good precedent. (Though I think L4D will still not be considered to get new content because no monetary gains, right?)

People have been acting weirdly bitter over a half-chapter. I don't really understand it either.

  • It's most common in older killers. New killers get points for doing anything with their power. Skull Merchant gets points for deploying drones, recalling drones, looking at her radar, attacking survivors next to her drones, etc. Chucky gets points just for activating his power. Wraith doesn't get rewarded just for going ding-dong invisible.

  • If they have a good idea for a killer that's fun to play, go for it. Though it would be weird to have Alan Wake the survivor and an Alan Wake killer in completely separate DLCs. They could merge them into one pack, sell them separately, or the more interesting option, the second Alan Wake chapter includes both a killer and another playable survivor such as Saga Anderson, the second protagonist of Alan Wake 2. That's the option I would like most, I'd totally play as a psychic FBI agent.

  • It's easy to interpret most gestures as mocking, even in limited or niche uses. It depends on state of mind, mood, context, and other factors.

is survivors pointing at me mid-chase supposed to be a taunt or an invitation or what? I have no idea. It's easiest to assume the worst in everyone and everything.

Many people have enough adversity in their life that they also don't need it in the form of video games. There's no pride to be found in what types of entertainment you find appealing.

If somebody doesn't want adversity in their games, they should probably avoid PVP games. Adversity is kinda the whole point.

  • To make sure no one thinks we're talking about soda, I guess.

  • I had been asking for Alan Wake, and now I'm getting Alan Wake, so...

My next pick is Frank West.

I mean, for anyone who hasn't played it, he's just a very plain, boring looking guy, with mediocre perks.

It's not exactly two-way license deal. Some Alan Wake fans might try DBD but no one is going to go from DBD to Alan Wake from this.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to belittle it and dismiss people who do like it.

  • Game needs bot killers for practice matches so survivors can try out basic mechanics and perks.

  • @CrypticGirl said:

Not a bad idea, but I'd prefer an increase in chest opening speed. I don't understand why Pharmacy does that (only when you're injured), but Plunderer's doesn't...

I would like a perk that did that too. I don't know if it should be this perk, or added as a secondary effect to another perk, but I would definitely like something I can equip for that, especially if it cancels out the penalty of Calm Spirit.

  • I wish it applied to chest items, I enjoy looting the boxes when I have a free moment. Up the Ante and Luck Offerings should slightly increase the chances for better items, and add a small chance for add-ons to appear on those items. Plunderer's Instinct continues to buff the chances for items, and Ace in the Hole buffs the chances for add-ons, while still doing the other things they do.

  • Some people play with a mentality like this:

"If I bring something to a match, I am owed value from it."

Which is incorrect, but they still believe it.

  • They do it for the funny. But I don't find it funny when I run off a generator all the way to the other side of the map to help them, thereby wasting my time and burdening the team with hindered efficiency. Especially if I have perks and/or challenges that rely on unhooking teammates. So you can have your laughs, by yourself. I'll go do something else without you, because you taught me that trying to help you is pointless.

  • Xenomorph just isn't fun to play. The low POV in Crawler Mode feels like a hindrance, especially on maps with tall grass, especially with flamethrowers constantly blocking your vision. The tail hitbox is janky and unreliable, it feels like it never goes where I want it to and aiming it on a controller is as bad if not worse than aiming with any other killer's power. And missing feels so punishing that using the tail feels self-sabotaging and I should stick to M1 attacks. And what's the point of the killer if I don't use their power, on top of getting frequently disoriented in ways other killers don't have to deal with?

  • I don't have every map's totem spawns perfectly memorized so I've been stuck in entire trials unable to cleanse Plaything, and it has been awful to deal with. That it's taken this long to fix, and this long for Nowhere to Hide to be fixed, and Knight to be fixed, has been seriously frustrating.

  • Legion. Fun to play as, running around stabbing everyone willy-nilly while hard rock music plays. Miserable to play against, Mending Simulator 2025.

I don't run Thanatophobia on them, at least.

  • I agree with most of those ideas. I think hooking a survivor should have a higher bonus to Nightfall. Faster while holding Remnant would be good, faster teleports would also be good. But Nightfall doesn't need to inflict Blindness. That could an add-on, though.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

The same as before. Just that you have a buffed Gen-Kick, Survivors cannot tap Gens anymore and you get a new Meta-Perk with Grim Embrace.

    Does not sound too bad.

I'm not expecting the buffed kick and regression mechanic to be unchanged from PTB. Something there is going to be tweaked. I thought the numbers were overtuned for both mechanics so I'm hoping it'll get toned down. Removing gen-tapping is nice but I think it should only take about 2 seconds of repairing to stop regression. And while 5% kick regression sounds fun, I'm not sure if that's a healthy number.

Grim Embrace might get its nerf shrunk. But we'll find out when the update hits.

  • I don't think The Thing can work as a killer and do the "it could be anyone" thing well. I feel like if they try, it will be disappointing.

I would really like to have the Antarctica base as a map, though, with MacReady as a survivor. Then I could yell "Cheating #####!" every time the killer catches me and be completely in-character.

  • @AnxiousGummy said:

Dead Hard is almost always in my build. It's no where near as strong as before but still pretty solid. Although it doesn't happen as much as before, I still see many killers wait it out, especially if they know the "signs" to look for that a survivor is running it.

Also, didn't the devs say at one point they were going to update the animation for Dead Hard when it got nerfed? I wonder what happened to that.

If they can just put a timer on haemorrhage, I think it would be fine. Like 20 seconds, the killer can choose to chase the survivor to down them or the survivor has to waste time to get a safe heal.

I'm still supporting tweaking Hemorrhage where healing only regresses if the survivor runs, to prevent it from nullifying some less-used healing perks.

  • Flashlights aren't necessary to win and are most often used to just be as annoying as possible. Lightborn hard-countering them is fine. Suggesting Overwhelming Presence as a valid alternative is laughable.

  • It'd be nice, but I really doubt the game can handle it.

  • @ChaosWam said:

I feel like a ton of survivors need to be reminded of why Decisive was nerfed in the first place: Killers who didn't tunnel.

You'd get survivor SWF who would take bodyblocks for their team after an unhook and try to get you to pick them up, or get their team to do a pickup tech when you try to break a pallet/grab another survivor from a locker, get stunned for 5 seconds, rinse and repeat for trying to SPREAD hooks.

Anyone asking for 5 or more seconds, endgame availability, and no downside at all are just asking to abuse it again.

This thread has taught me one thing: some people won't be happy with Decisive Strike until it outright DCs the killer from the game. And then they would do exactly what you say with it.

  • @Firellius said:

And then, the return of the no mither/decisive/map offering builds to get to places where you can't hook, slug, pick up or do much without a SWF group punishing any choice you make.

I am pretty sure that No Mither has never, ever been a build.

    It has. I've seen it.

  • It's fine, it's still solid. It's not as suffocatingly omni-present now which means it's easier for me to fall for it, but I don't mind because I'm not dealing with it on every survivor in every match. I can shrug off the occasional Dead Hard play.

Strong perks only become intolerable when they're used by everyone constantly.

  • @jonifire said:

That’s not a good design to force people to heal others, because they otherwise waste potential heals.

In the end it depends, how you define teamwork. I could also tank a hit in difficult situations for my team, but no I couldn‘t heal up, because the game limits the self heal.

Healing yourself is more efficient than being healed by teammates, because it means 3 survivors are still working on generators or distracting the killer. This was the problem with medkits, and why they were nerfed, and why CoH was nerfed, because each survivor being self-sustaining was unbalanced. That's why self-healing has to be limited, it's too good.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

Should be upped to 4 seconds, 3 seconds is basically non existent and more like two seconds because of the drop animation. Should be available during endgame, because Off the Record can, why not DS? But keep conspicuous action nerf to avoid the ancient evil of DS + UB. And boom, well balanced I’d say.

Off the Record disables in endgame too.

  • Crawler Mode forcing your perspective so low is really disorienting, and on console, attacking with his tail feels really difficult and unreliable. I love Alien, I loved that Xenomorph was added to the game, but he doesn't feel fun to play. He feels like a struggle. So disappointing, and right after the disappointment that was Singularity too.

Honestly, I could be in the wrong, but I can't find any meaningful arguments of why killer is underpower, or why survivors are OP.

There is none. Killers are not underpowered at all, they are clearly overpowered. Even diehard killer mains cant really deny that anymore. The argument of them is that killer should be the "power role" so the game is more intense for both sides.

I personally completly disagree with that, since i know that a fair balance in DBD is the most fun. Actually for both sides.

Of course killer has to be the power role. It's a 1 vs. 4 game. The 1 has to be strong to compete against the 4. They have to have power to balance the game at all. That's what "power role" means.

    STBFL is terrible design anyway.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3632072#Comment_3632072

Any perk that messes with movement speed has been terrible for the game. Us or Them will always complain about it being ridiculous. Its just the nature of this game/community.

Now, with these proposed changes, STBFL will be very killer specific. Wont be seeing it on Trapper, Plague, Legion, or anyone else with passive damage. Was it used on them anyway? I dunno. But thats my take.

BHVR's recent reliance on Haste buffs has been lazy. Knight, Skull Merchant, Trapper, various perks, none of these were valuable and they hardly fixed anything, if you ask me. Funnily, at the same time, replacing Buckle Up's Haste buff with Endurance was also a mistake because it's led into the FTP+BU combo, and I wish they'd revert it.

  • I wish Medkits and Toolboxes did have other features that distinguished them. I agreed with the Medkit nerf but I don't agree with making them homogenized and boring. I had ideas like attaching bonus effects, such as easier skillchecks or reducing noises (Iron Will or Technician but on an item).

  • At least they sometimes attempt to take useless perks and buff them, like they're doing with Grim Embrace. But giving killers perks that do things makes people very mad.

I don't mind STBFL getting nerfed so you can't play around it with M2 attacks, but having you lose stacks from the Obsession losing health ever for any reason is terrible design.

i think he's talking about chemical trap hindered penalty like 50% for 10 seconds. So even if you high mobility killer, your m/s will be slower than survivor. DS is wrong perk to buff if the goal was to deter tunneling.

The perk i would recommend buffing is Made For This. Instead of 3% haste for when your in deep wound, make it like 10% haste. Watch as killer become terrified to hit borrow time and off the record to trigger this deadly buff.

And then survivors equip Off the Record and Made for This to bodyblock while off-hook and then become borderline uncatchable when the killer attempts to punish them for using their defensive perks offensively. Killer loses even when trying to chase other survivors.

When you give anything to survivors, you have to ask yourself, "Will people use this for reasons other than its intended purpose?" Because if they can, they will.

  • It's an escape room crossed with hide-and-seek tag.
