  • 4 second stun.

Skillcheck made into a normal skillcheck.

Upon use, the survivor gains +25% Haste for 5 seconds.

Still one-use, still deactivates in endgame.

  • It should work like Pyramid Head where he can only do it to survivors on death hook. My only real complaint with the Tombstone is that it often kills a survivor before they really get to play the game at all. And then they depip because we still have that awful system. So fun.

  • It's taking advantage of BHVR's bad map design, but that's not against the rules. Blame BHVR.

I've had similar matches where survivors with Boil Over and No Mither/Unbeakable would hide upstairs in Ormond. Even if I could reach a hook, they were also a sabo squad. That's why BHVR is putting a hook up there now, as seen in the PTB Ormond rework. It's also happened to me in Badham's basement, a TTV and his squad used offerings to put the killer basement in the shack and they would all hide down there every chase because Boil Over and other perks made it impossible to carry them upstairs and hook them. Ended up slugging them to death. Miserable experience.

I agree that Boil Over needs a rework. It causes problems that shouldn't exist, while solving nothing.

  • I've always disliked the items looking the same. I want the cheap medkit to look cheap and the good medkit to look good. It doesn't have to match the actual rarity color but it would be a welcome visual update.

Do you play maps? IIRC, killer’s map offering supersedes the survivor’s offering. May help. And also Corrupt helps to mitigate Freddy’s slow start. Also Freddy is (poorly) anti-loop. He isn’t an m1 killer.

That isn't how map offerings work.

What is your definition of an M1 Killer? I thought most agreed an M1 Killer is one that can only down survivors through basic M1 attacks.

  • Deathslinger. As a console player dealing with DbD's twitchy joystick controls, aiming with Deathslinger is really difficult, but it makes it all the more satisfying when I actually get a shot off. Also he's a cowboy, I'm a huge fan of that. I just wish I could be better with him.

I also wish I was a better Ghost Face but my stealth is terrible, haven't worked out the dos and don'ts.

They never updated the scoring for the sacrifice category when they increased the category cap to 10000 points. They remembered to update the survival category (points for escaping was increased from 5000 to 7000) but not this one.

They should update a lot of things in-game to be more rewarding, especially for survivors, but hooks should be worth more points too.

  • With this "simple fix," an unhooked survivor will never have a reason to not use their off-hook infinite automatic DS to bodyblock for their teammates. Everyone would do it.

I can't understand people who have this extremist opinion that BHVR doesn't care about survivors at all, it makes no sense.

Not only does it make zero business sense for them to have this opinion, since survivor players should make about 80% of their customers, but they've added a bunch of things over time to help make survivor feel better to play.

Basekit BT was added with 10% Haste thrown in, and shortly afterwards buffed to 10 seconds. This made it so you werent basically forced to always run BT and so actually had another perk slot you could use for something else. Also removed the awful feeling of being insta-downed the moment you were unhooked if the survivor wasn't running it.

They added the Survivor HUD which, while far from perfect, added a LOT of basekit information for solo queue survivors especially. Now you can tell whenever anyone is in chase, whenever someone is doing a totem (which if NoED or Devour is in play can be big), and you can know if someone is on gens and thus NOT going for unhook. You even get to know progress of gens that people are on, so know exactly when one will pop. They could still add more info to it but compared to before it's HUGE.

The Anti-Facecamp Mechanic. While it doesn't address proxy camping and tunneling like some people somehow thought it would, it DOES combat full-on facecamping. Facecamping wasn't overly common, but when it did happen it could make the game just feel boring and miserable for everyone involved, and now the killer basically can't do it before endgame. There are ways to play around it, but all of these methods give survivors more opportunity to make a save than before.

Numerous balance changes like essentially removing exposed perks for Nurse, finally nerfing Blight's addons, severely nerfing gen kick perks so not every killer was just kicking gens all game, and various other nerfs to killer perks and addons.

How you can look at all of these things and say that BHVR doesn't care at all about survivors, it just doesn't make sense. Many of these things are getting old now but some are incredibly recent, so it's clear they are STILL doing things to help survivors, especially solo survivors.

These extremists aren't happy because BHVR took their most busted toys away. They want old MFT, they want old DH, and they want old CoH. All at the same time. With old DS on top of that, as basekit.

  • Sweeney Todd. Though the character is fictional, he was inspired by urban legends of pie shops killing people and using them as ingredients in mincemeat pies, crossed with an incident about a real-life murderous barber.

I haven't gotten a Mori daily in like a year... but then again I only got back to playing like a month ago

I got one yesterday, for Leatherface, whom I do not play because controlling his chainsaw on console is extremely difficult for me.

I did get it, in a fun match where I was using Rancor and the Obsession ragequit early (I was using Franklin's, might have been why) so I decided I'd hook everyone else twice and let them go do gens while I focused down the Obsession and Mori'd them in front of their teammates, then let them leave out the gates.

I do wish daily rituals were buffed. I'd like them give more BP, and small amounts of Iri Shards like 25 ~ 50.

  • Facecamping was detrimental but it was still an extremely frustrating thing to experience when you're the one on the hook, and BHVR wanted to cut down on it without completely invalidating camping as a tactic. It at least forces killers away from the hook which offers a little more room for survivors to make some kind of attempt to rescue.

It was never a magic fix-all for all camping. Just the worst kind.

I use it with Vigil outside of chase. The amount of busted Toolboxes I've gotten is ridiculous.. but I love it.

True, Dramaturgy popping a Commodious Toolbox with a Brand New Part into your hand is great. But for every time that's happened to me, I've been downed from the Exposed effect maybe half a dozen times. Nic Cage's perks are fun and silly but the fun wears off when they backfire so badly.

  • @OrangeBear said:

Dramaturgy can give you a free exposed.

Which is why I have stopped using it. It has hurt more than it has helped. Don't know why people say Nic Cage's perks were good when they can all be self-destructive. Dramaturgy can expose you, Scene Partner can reveal you're near the killer, and Plot Twist can give the killer a free hook if they're smart enough to find you.

  • SoloQ is not an excuse for a busted combo primarily used by SWFs.

  • I think Nic Cage and Alan Wake get mid-trial voicelines because they are voiced by the actual Nic Cage and Alan Wake's real voiceactor. They're getting their money's worth out of them. If Ash Williams was added today with Bruce Campbell's voicework, they'd probably do it for him too.

But a toggle for character voicelines would be a good feature to have.

  • It's not the best, but it's not the worst. I think it's playable for both sides. There's maps in the game that frustrate me much more. What bothers me most is the poor performance on console. Not even FSR is helping.

There's another way to get people to deviate from the meta. Something BHVR didn't think of or is too scared to do.

The goal of the 6.0 update was to change the meta. Only reason why that update failed is because all BHVR did was give other perks a chance to shine with the same benefits. The best way to get rid of a meta is to gut the existing meta while encouraging a new one. Grim Embrace's buff is a prime example of encouraging a new meta.

Unfortunately, survivor meta will always boil down to "fix gens fast" and "chase forever". And killer meta will always boil down to undoing those two things. We're at an impasse and I'm not sure how to fix it without barbecuing the game as a whole. It certainly isn't easy.

For both sides, I'd like weak perks buffed to usefulness, and strongest perks nerfed to no longer be auto-picks. I especially wish BHVR would go to all those useless survivor perks like Small Game, Premonition, Poised, Corrective Action, etc. and give them boosts, give them effects that are actually appealing and helpful and do things.

I'm disappointed in the planned Quick Gambit rework though. That thing doesn't needs its repair boost nerfed, it just needs a significant range increase of 32m ~ 40m. Then it could actually do something meaningful.

I think this game is more fun the larger the variety of perks is. Dead Hard every match was painfully boring. Pain Resonance every match is painfully annoying.

Do you see how many survivors be running around with flashlights and never save anything? Survivors will gladly use non meta items if they are fun. Give them landmines, bats, or just about anything that could hurt the Killer. Guarantee survivors flock to it even if the effects are terrible

I was talking about the hardcore players, the diehards, the veterans and meta-slaves. People who run flashlights just to blind at pallets, or cheeky perks like Blast Mine and Chemical Trap, they're just fooling around for the fun of it. I'm not lumping them in.

The point is, when talking to people who act like they know what's best for their side, all they really want is new meta perks that are stronger than the ones they already have. Go to Nightlight, look at the top 8 survivor perks, anything weaker than those shouldn't even exist as far as this demographic of players is concerned, and they're the ones who make the most noise when BHVR releases anything new that isn't immediately S++ tier.

The game could buff everything you like and they'd still be here crying that BHVR is wasting time on things no one cares about when they should be making Dead Hard 2 because it's the only way to prove they care about us poor survivors.

  • @solarjin1 said:

It don't even have to be anything groundbreaking. Just some new items! they don't wanna clutter the survival blood web i guess. At least think about reworking maps and keys to something useful.

Let's be real, what would be useful enough that the hardcore survivors would choose them over medkits and toolboxes?

Nothing makes people deviate from the meta unless it's borderline broken, or actually broken. It doesn't matter how good it is, if it can't outperform Adrenaline/Windows/Resilience/ExhaustionPerk, it may as well not exist. Like how nothing makes killers stop running PainRes/PGTW.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to make maps and keys do more things, or at least do what they do now much better, but there's very little BHVR can change that would please the hardcore demographic while also maintaining good game health.

Just a reminder that The Thing, Outlast, Castlevania & Ghostbusters was mentioned in last year's license survey, so they do still have their chances of being added, especially Outlast as one of the devs during one of their Outlast Trial streams told people to ask bhvr for a collab with Outlast when asked about it.

It would blow my mind if they added a character from Siren. It's unlikely but it would be unbelievable to have both Silent Hill and Siren in the same game.

  • Deadly Premonition, AKA Bootleg Japanese Twin Peaks. Which would be really funny now that Alan Wake is in the game because Alan Wake is Bootleg Finnish Twin Peaks. May as well throw in the actual Twin Peaks while we're at it and we'd have the complete trio.

I would also love Scooby-Doo skins for the original four survivors. Dwight as Fred, Meg as Daphne, Claudette as Velma, and Jake as Shaggy. Complete with a little charm of Scooby-Doo they can wear. That would be perfect.

If you want to get really REALLY out-there? The original Alone in the Dark games, add Edward Carnby as a survivor. A 1920s private detective would be a pretty distinctive character for the roster.

Alternatively, add Patrick Galloway from Clive Barker's Undying as a survivor. Irish WWI veteran and occult investigator.

You completely missed my point. I said that those who choose to camp will still do it, but it will at least disharden those who are not hard campers but don't see a better option depending on the situation. Knowing they are seen by all survivors if they choose to camp will change their tactic.

but it will at least disharden those who are not hard campers but don't see a better option depending on the situation.

if they don't have a better option, what else are they going to do? Sit in the corner in shame?

  • While some players may still opt to camp, fewer individuals would find it to be a viable strategy, fostering a more dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.

Way too optimistic. If a killer is hard camping it's because they decided to make this one survivor dead and nothing is going to dissuade them. If the killer is camping because they want to attack whoever comes to rescue, they will proxy-camp away from the hook and this change would do little or nothing to stop that.

  • I cleanse totems and open chests for fun and points. I will not apologize. I wish Counterforce was buffed so I could cleanse even faster, and I wish for a perk that let me open chests even faster too.

Though if I'm on a totem and you start gesturing at me to leave, I will, under the assumption your build needs the totem more than I do.

  • The problem is a lot of the licenses only have one good killer character and they're already in DbD, but they have potential for more survivors and more maps.

I'd love to see more maps added for Silent Hill, like Alchemilla Hospital or Lakeside Amusement Park. Harry or Henry could be survivors, though there is no killer really worth adding other than Pyramid Head, nothing else is iconic or popular enough. I think it's wasted potential that James was made a legendary skin, same for the Resident Evil characters; Chris and Claire should have been the survivors added in Project W but they were already skins by the time it was made, so it was too late.

I know it's still recent but I really hope to see an Aliens chapter added that adds the Hadley's Hope colony as a map with Cpl. Hicks or Pvt. Hudson as survivors, but we can't add another xenomorph as a killer, there's nothing to work with there that wouldn't come off as farfetched or reaching too hard.

Halloween, I'd love to see Dr. Loomis added as a survivor, but we can't add a second Michael Myers.

The chapter format of content updates is too strict for many properties to get additions easily.

  • I'll enjoy the opportunity to earn bloodpoints, especially since I'll probably be leveling up Alan Wake around that time.

  • I don't know why Nostromo is considered a part of Dvarka's realm but it may have something to do with wanting to re-use assets, or lumping the two extraterrestial sci-fi realms together. But it's a big license with its own map and the two Dvarka maps have so little in common with each other despite technically being the same that they warranted giving Nostromo its own offering.

What bothers me is its offering is a pair of blast doors, which is incredibly silly. Most offerings are objects you can hold in your hand that represent the realm, this one is a pair of solid steel doors the size of a car. I'd have used something smaller like Dallas's coffee cup, or a piece of the Nostromo wreckage itself, or a Weyland-Yutani employee ID... anything else. I hope they change it in the future.

I'm also hoping for a Hadley's Hope map in the future, and if that happens, it will probably also be dropped into the Dvarka realm with its own offering.

  • If a game goes bad enough fast enough, I feel like there isn't a point in playing it further. I would like to keep playing so I can pip or earn bloodpoints, but the pip system is terribly designed and survivors don't earn enough points for what they're doing, especially in a match going sour and ending too quickly, so it feels pointless to attempt to prolong it. May as well save time, take the L, and move on.

I wish I had more incentive to stay in an obviously-doomed match.

But there are plenty of players who are just ragequitting at the first sign of inconvenience or whatever arbitrary thing they get unreasonably salty over. That's a problem too, and usually leads to the obviously-doomed matches.

  • The ones I dislike the most are the ones that act like they speak for the entire playerbase, brushing off anyone and everyone who plays in a slightly different way than how they think the game should be played. Usually the most competitive opinions who scoff at the idea that people play this game casually.

People should speak for themselves. I hate hearing "I don't like it and neither should anyone else."

  • I like having something to do outside of the standard gameplay loop.

  • That's just silly.

  • If kicking a gen does an immediate 5% damage then I think Ruin is actually worse than just kicking the gen normally.

    New perk

    Demolitions Expert

Upon spawning into the trial, 1/2/3 exit gates are blown up.

-let's see those pesky survivors try to get through the rubble

I would pay money for a perk that caused the survivors to explode if they stayed in the exit gates for longer than 30 seconds.

  • I am also having this problem on Nintendo Switch, and the problem makes Plague just as unplayable for me as it does for you.

The next rift is confirmed to have Alan Wake in it

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SQC489E3VI1J/image.png

I wonder what cosmetics they'll give Alan. The only other outfits that i cank= think of are his Alan Wake 1 jacket and his American Nightmare flannel shirt. Do you think BHVR has permission to make up original outfits like they did for the SAW characters and Ghostface?

  • I'd like an outfit for Gabriel, he's been out for a while but he's lacking in the cosmetic department. I'd also like outfits for David, Felix, and Jonah; it feels like they haven't gotten anything in a while. Elodie and Vittorio would be nice too.

  • Probably my most hated maps along with Garden of Joy. I play on console and for whatever reason Badham is more difficult to see on than other maps which further adds to the misery. It's a boring slog to deal with, especially when dealing with survivors who use the preschool's basement (without basement hooks) and anti-hook and anti-slug perks to make themselves impossible to hook whenever they go down there.

I also had a survivor match where a stupid bot trapped me in one of the hedges and wouldn't leave because it wanted me to heal it instead of cleansing the Hex Totem I went in there for, so I was stuck in there until the killer found us and downed me. So that's made me hate Badham as both killer and survivor.

I think Garden of Joy's dining room window wins out for "most OP window in the game" but that hardly makes Badham much better.

  • Bodyblocks are a valid and intended tool for survivors to use. There's even perks that function off of them, and I wouldn't mind if BHVR made one or two more. Are they annoying? Yes. Are they fair? Also yes. No reason to get so upset over them, there's much worse things survivors can do.

Every Ash player does it? Probably because a lot of them are fooling around using Mettle of Man like you were, which is such a difficult perk to use that I will give props to anyone who can make it work, regardless of which side I'm playing. Of all the perks to get salty about, this guy picked Mettle of Man? That's messed up.

  • @BlightedTrapper said:

I think the opinions are almost always very uninformed, usually stemming from a bias for which role or character they main. While their is some good feedback the community gives, like the outcry when they tried to nerf Billy's engravings a while back. Most of it is just begging for their overpowered crutches to return so they can abuse them. "Revert Circle of Healing, buff Dead Hard, buff Pain Res, buff Pop."

Good perks fix generators at light speed, make me invincible, grant me omniscience, immediately teleport survivors onto hooks, blow up the exit gates, and nullify everything my opponent does.

Anything else just isn't worth running!

  • Alan Wake is the next DLC character and he's out on January 30th, so it is likely that is when all of the reworks will go live, along with the next Rift.

  • Yeah I'll use it. Sounds fun and functional. Don't know if it'll be meta but it'll definitely be useful.

  • I'm not a fan of that dress on Elodie, but it's fine overall. I think Feng's outfit would have been better on Yun-Jin though, and I wish Jeff had been included since it seems like his style.

  • Alan Wake is a perfect fit for DbD, I've been wanting him in the game for quite a while now, I like his perks, I think he looks cool in-game, so I'm pretty happy. Definitely going to play as him.

  • Its performance is pretty bad though, map is laggy and stuttery. A lot of the new maps are like this, even reworked old maps are like this, but especially Nostromo.

  • "people hate her more now than they did before" is pure fiction. Old Skull Merchant was one of the worst killers ever designed and with all the flaws of current Skull Merchant, she's still an improvement by comparison.

  • I am slightly tempted to combine the Iri Tag with the Placebo and spend the whole match running in circles until I max out the Devious points.

  • @TWiXT said:

I just thought of something... The killer brings in Hex: Ruin, and since the gens are now restricted to 8 separate regression events caused by either kicking or perks before they can no longer be regressed, Theoretically, does that mean a survivor can go to a gen, tap it, let Ruin start regressing it, and then keep tapping the gen until all 8 events are used up?

I mean yeah, the survivor has to repair 5% each time before letting Ruin do its thing again, but that's 40% of a gen repaired by essentially "tap" repairing it, and after the 8th time, nothing will make it lose progress anymore.

Upon realizing this, If it works the way I'm theorizing, I don't think I'll ever feel the need to cleanse Ruin ever again... Might as well change its name to Boon: Ruin.

That is not how it works at all. Ruin only initiates regression, it does not count as damaging a generator. Anything that inflicts less than 2.5% regression does not count as 1 of the 8 damages.

  • Can we also buff Call of Brine and Overcharge back up, now that they're much more limited in uses? I don't mean a complete reversion, just increase them to 150% regression speed too.
