Guards can only hit once before disappearing. They are not a pop up legion. More like a pop up Trapper with lower speeds. They also scream as the start the hunt and don’t have proper area awareness so they will run though walls slowing them down. Not to mention they have music playing for the Hunt and a horn sound when they start the chase. That’s what four bits of information outside the orb itself? I’m not advocating for its removal but I can see why other are. It’s the same reason Well Ghost and Freddy are not as good as they could be. They have way too many hints to their power being used. The only one I think who doesn’t is Wrath and that’s with a iri-add on.

When I said the guards would get more hits I didn't mean that the guard would hit more than once. What I meant was guards would get that 1 hit they can get more often.

I thought it was obvious and I didn't need to spell it out for you.

  • The distance from hooks from the base of the stairs has definitely increased by 1 or 2 metres. It might not sound like much but it can make a huge difference when other survivors are bodyblocking and/or the killer is forced to use the basement because there are no other hooks available nearby.

  • Yeah it should be start 5 hunts instead.

The issue with that argument is the fact it takes 3 seconds for the guard to start the Hunt. So even if he is dropped onto you you’ll have three seconds to skedaddle. It’s not like nurse where you get no information and can be hit almost instantly. It also depends on the Guard, the assassin would be an easy hit sure, but the other two? They don’t have speed bonuses at all.

3 seconds is not a long time for a survivor to react and get moving. Guards would get double, triple or more hits and the Assassin would always get a hit. If the survivor is unlucky enough to be running towards the Knight then it turns into an easy intercept and a fast down on a survivor who started healthy.

I'm willing to bet that when the Knight's power was first conceived they did it without the orb (they are lazy after all) and after some testing they realized they had to put something in.

Nurse gives lots of information on where and when she is blinking, if you find yourself "getting no information" you are not paying enough attention.

It's true that DbD is insanely frustrating as a beginner, to the point that there is not much more than spite to hold on to for those first hundred(s) of hours until you're at an okay level.

However, it's extremely difficult to balance the game to take into account both killer and survivor fun, and at all levels of skill.

DbD really is a complex thing, and for all that we can criticize BHVR for how they handle everything, I don't know anyone who can pretend to know better how to handle those issues.

It might be extremely difficult to balance the game, but it's infinitely harder when they're not even trying.

I'll pretend to know better because they clearly don't have an overall vision of what DbD could and should be. As a player with thousands of hours I do have a vision of what DbD could and should be and almost every move BHVR makes seems at odds with that vision. A vision where there is a rhyme, reason and balance to maps, killers and categories of perks with each other and being able to see the overall picture.

They fail to make changes I've been wanting for years (QoL, perk search bar, standardized audio across survivors), they make overtuned changes (the 6.1.0 changes that changed the meta but didn't actually balance things where they made changes based on usage rates rather than actual game balance), they band-aid fix things (DC penalties, hacking), they are mor concerned with how things look than how they function and they push out scheduled content without being able to ensure it is of acceptable quality. They also devote their resources to developing other stuff while the game that put them on the map continues to flounder with what appears to be an inexperienced skeleton crew that takes aeons to get anything done.

One obvious thing that springs to mind for me is that they could have tried to keep the game simple(r). At some point they should have stopped the 3 perks per character standard and went to a 1 perk per character standard. We would have less perks but they would be of higher quality and the learning curve wouldn't be so disgustingly steep and the skill creep every dlc drop wouldn't be so bad. But they can't turn back time and we are stuck with 219 perks.

  • You can go wrong tunneling. If you choose to tunnel a survivor who knows what they're doing and have a build tailored to extending chases, the killer can easily find themselves with 1 or no gens left before that survivor is even dead and they have no chance to win the match.

Just choosing to tunnel is not an automatic win for killers. They have to tunnel the correct targets and they have a time limit.

  • Many people are suggesting the orb should be invisible to survivors but haven't seemed to think it through. If the killer manages to put the guard right on top of a survivor and the survivor doesn't have a chance to react it would turn it into an automatic hit, which would be overpowered and certainly not fun to play against.

He could certainly have an addon that makes the orb and the patrol "ribbon" invisible beyond a certain rage from a survivor. A yellow addon for 16m and a green for 12m maybe and they can't stack.

  • I could agree with a killer ping indicator in the lobby that like we used to have in the good old days.

But being able to view the killer's profile before the game is a big fat hell no. If it was a good thing back in the day they would have kept it in the game but all it did was lead to excessive dodging which was bad for the game. It leads to more people using private profiles and is pointless for cross-players anyway.

As it is now players are still given too much information in lobbies. Some survivors see my P56 Jeff and instantly dodge assuming I am a cheater without even glancing at my profile which is nowhere near level 1 or private.

I'd much rather be playing in matches of DbD rather than sitting in lobbies. As it is now any player who spends their bloodpoints is already using more than half their playtime in DbD not actually in matches.

  • I wish they'd take a year off and work on refining the game into a true AAA title and making DbD into the asymmetrical juggernaut and king of the genre that it should be. They could retain way more players and devoted fans if the game made a better impression on players and the game was fully realized and well implemented rather than being spaghetti code barely held together with spit, old chewing gum, rusty paper clips and rotting rubber bands.

If a competitor comes along with a well-coded game that stops trying to kill the killer, has a good formula for making balanced perks, killers and maps DbD dies not long after.

  • As long as survivors continue to get 3 teachable perks each, I cannot support or advocate for more survivors. There are far too many perks in the game already and it is clear they are running out of perk ideas. Having 18 perks tied to RE is too many already.

If all the Resident Evil survivors had one perk each I'd be all for all of them being separate survivors.

  • I thought I'd finally be able to buy Pinhead for 50% off but nope, I have to keep waiting. I've already been waiting for 14 and a half months, what's a little longer?

I have seen it being asked for, but few people asking wont cut it. Where in our Community is that Unity? what's the form?

Pretty sure we could do better cause I certainly would not say there is unity for it.

I think many people have given up asking at this point. Quality of Life for DbD isn't even in the kitchen let alone on the back burner.

    prove isn't strong?

if it wasn't strong why is everyone using it, in every game

For the bonus bloodpoints on co-op actions of course, especially since they raised the cap. I run Prove every game solely for that reason.

If they got rid of the bloodpoint bonus I would stop running Prove immediately and never run it again.

  • Would removing unhook notifications for killers have a positive effect on gameplay?

I don't think so and I think it would make killers more likely to camp.

  • It's the sad truth about the state of DbD. I never thought I'd say I miss searching for Undying Ruin totems... but I really miss searching for Undying Ruin totems.

For me as a solo survivor it's all about pounding out those gens as fast as possible if I don't have a ritual or challenge.

Instead of making gens take longer like they did in 6.1.0 they need to make it so we have to search for parts or something. Something more interesting than having to hold M1 for longer.

  • No. They are way too lazy.

    @Emeal said:

bHVR said they would like to do such a thing, but there is much of other things to do.

It would take a lot of the community to stand united and tell bHVR this would make the dbd experience better.

Unfortunately I don't think its the most needed change rn even if it would be fun to see.

The community has been pretty united asking for a perk search bar for years now...

  • They already knew that this chapter was going to underperform. That's why they made those shirtless Vittorio cosmetics on launch so it wouldn't appear to underperform so badly, at least to their shareholders.

  • As soon as I find how to vote in the awards I'll vote for this Deep Rock Galactic even though everything I know about it has come from this thread.

DbD is the antithesis of a labor of love. It's a paycheck for BHVR's employees and shareholders.

They just want a shot at free advertisement from winning the award.

No passionate game company managing a labor of love would let hackers completely run their game for 6 years before finally putting it on the roadmap. BHVR is a joke.

  • You have to accept that what you've got so far is all you're going to get. Be happy or not, it matters not.

I know this to be true because when they did the prestige rework they had the opportunity to give those of us that earned P3 before the rework something special to commemorate that spent effort. I was hoping for something I could show off to other players. Nothing huge like legacy prestige, I knew that wasn't going to happen. What I was expecting was a little red crown or some other unique highlight on the then new prestige crests that would only be attainable from that. That never happened and all we got were prestige portraits that I promptly turned off.

Do not expect anything good from BHVR. That path only leads to disappointment. I know from years of experience. Now I just expect to be disappointed and usually I am right and when I am not I get to be pleasantly surprised.

  • I'd much rather them make changes to the map offerings than this.

    Besides the animations are cool.

  • I don't dodge lobbies.

  • Well if you believe the kill rates BHVR recently posted, there are a lot of bad Nurses out there.

Not very often. But the last game I played vs a Nurse a bashed her face in with 4 pallets. One of the most fun games I've ever had vs a Nurse. She was good too and I still died, but it was fun.

  • Shirtless David for shards! Booya!

    Thanks!

  • I can and I do, quite successfully. When timed right they work wonders. It is a great way to make some distance when I don't have any.

    Just because you don't doesn't mean I don't.

You can't "set up" a stun. It depends on the survivor dropping a pallet on you. You might get value from it once or twice per match but once survivors realize what you are doing you're just down two perks. It's kind of why Enduring + Spirit Fury is also a bad combo.

You can set up stuns all day long in DbD. All you have to do is walk into the pallet and present a survivor with the opportunity to stun you. If they don't know you have Hubris (or Fury) they don't know it's a set up and a vast majority of the time they will stun you. Especially on pallet dense maps like the Game or Bugged Borgo.

Nurse really only needs to get value from it once or twice to get her snowball rolling.

  • DbD actually has QA?

You've been fooling me for years.

  • It's called spaghetti code.

See this is complete BS because I agree with you on Nurse but God this is getting annoying how all the weaker killers get shafted because of Nurse. This would be a beatiful perk for M1 killers BUT NO NURSE.

The Nurse holds back the game for everyone. I don't like it either but it is true.

It's also why we continue to get awful large flat maps. Because on vertical maps like Midwich Nurse destroys.

    @GrimoireWeiss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3273972#Comment_3273972

You're saying like Nurse gets stunned all the time by pallets. It's not a terrible perk on her but if we are talking about Exposed there are way more consistent perks like Starstruck and MYC.

If they don't want to get stunned by pallets then yes they don't get stunned.

If they run Hubris they can set up the stun pretty easy and then own the survivor.

Soon we'll be hearing an avalanche of complaints about Nurses running Enduring and Hubris. Mark my words.

  • How about NO.

The Nurse exists. And she can stomp with this perk in its current form already so they cannot buff it.

  • Lithe, Balanced Landing and Smash Hit are already lower tier exhaustion perks. If survivors kept exhaustion off the hook it would just make those perks worse without really affecting Dead Hard or Sprint Burst if the killer tunnels off the hook.

Survivors should at least have a chance to have more than 1 good chase in a match of DbD.

  • I seen a Knight with this bug too.

I wanted to ride the ride.

  • It's because Nurse exists that we get nothing but boring large, flat maps.

Hawkins and other indoor maps limits certain killers from playing to their fullest potential. It was objectively not a good map for both sides.

    What "certain killers"?

I played a lot of Billy and Huntress on Hawkins and I didn't feel limited. Well not any more limited than the other indoor maps.

  • @entertainment720 said:

Hey there! Just so you're aware, there is a bugged tile that's spawning too many pallets.

It should be disabled until it is fixed then.

Everyone is getting a bad first impression of the map and you never get a chance to make a first impression ever again.

Can you please tell that to the thousands of players who would refuse to play on Hawkins and DC when the offering appeared, proclaiming 'good riddance' to it's departure.

I loved Hawkins so much, but at the time it was like RPD, everyone hated it. And now I like RPD, so I wonder what would happen if RPD were to be removed...

"Thousands of players" Bahahaha good one. Seriously you made me chuckle with that use of hyperbole. Dozens maybe... I don't recall even spotting one back in the day in my games on either side.

Considering how BHVR loves to copy and paste stuff I am disappointed they haven't recreated the Hawkins loops on newer maps. There is no way Netflix holds the right to loops as well as the map ffs.

All new maps feature drops that are just too damn high and the survivor always gets staggered for usually an easy hit unless it's one of those god windows on Haddonfield or GoJ.

You're right saying that isn't toxic. But having the mindset that your image of a woman is the right one and that a character that isn't holding that standard but is liked by many people should just change is toxic.

What you want another soul les blonde or a cute Asian in cute outfits. Maybe we go with a hot readhead. Maybe bhvr should just pick up a copy of the lasted playboy to designe the next female character

I'd rock a freckled ginger all day long, that's an awesome idea!

  • @Emeal said:

So what does a good map look like to you guys?!?

    Hawkins.

Good use of verticality with unique loops.

Not bad lighting, too large, flat, disguising scratch marks, hard to distinguish borders and pallets and a nothing burger of a main building.

  • The problem is the strategy is obvious and is hard-countered by Dead Hard. Try to zone the survivor, they proc Dead Hard on the guard, they are gone.

  • Because they care more about how stuff looks than how it functions.

This is a fair point. I 100% want camping and tunneling nerfed, further, and I still want that, but at the same time, maps like the new map really do not help at all, and I can understand when killers camp and tunnel on maps like this new one. It's honestly ridiculous how the devs have not yet nerfed camping in any way, despite that tactic being buffed after the 6.1.0 update, yet we get maps like the new map that hugely discourage killers to not camp and tunnel, and play normally.

Like, I just can't quite understand why the devs can't understand that we need killers to be encouraged to not camp and tunnel, and be discouraged to camp and tunnel. I was hopeful after the basekit BT got buffed, but that hope is disappearing again.

They have nerfed camping though. Do you remember the old days when Bubba could endlessly hold his chainsaw up? It was really bad back then.

  • New survivor-sided map with too many pallets and hard to track scratch marks...

Seriously, why shouldn't killers camp there?

  • The Entity is supposedly an all-powerful being that can pull anything from any dimension at any time.

How does the Entity pulling Vittorio into the realms automatically mean he is somehow over 600 years old and has to wear modern clothing?

The could have kept him in medieval clothing and still have him as a thirst trap.

  • As with everything in DbD, it looks amazing but functions poorly.

I wish it introduced some new and interesting loops to the game. The main building is lame with 2 nearly useless windows. The market platform is a straight up death trap with no pallets or windows. The rest of the loops and tiles are basically copy/pasted from other maps.

I miss Hawkins more and more every day. It might have been killer-sided but at least it had multiple cool and unique loops.

  • I wouldn't feel so bad for Haddie. At least she's unique still.

Jeff has been in the game for 4 years and has a total of 36 cosmetics and he just got straight up replaced with a newer, hotter model.

  • If not auto-complete, anything that would speed up the bloodwebs would be welcome.

  • Incapacitated is just a horrible mechanic for a perk. It's not fun and there is no indication to other survivors that you are incapacitated.

There is also no good counterplay.

  • Killers already have something unique to sell them (their power), while survivors are just cosmetics.

Also, I think it has to do with being able to actually see the cosmetics in game. As survivor you get to see your cosmetics almost 100% of the time. With few exceptions, as killer you only see your cosmetics right at the beginning of the match and then in first person you only get to see hands/weapon.

  • I tried playing as the Knight and he feels powerless. His power seems to be use power to let the survivor get away.

Fogwise will give you way more info, can be used right at the start of the game. If you are decent with skillchecks, you will have perma wall hacks on the killer…that’s insane value. Even in a SWF, having one survivor use the perk to tell everyone the exact position is very good.

The new aura reading perk for killer is also very good, especially for Blight and Nurse with kick builds.

How does Fogwise give you "way more info"? Be specific.

I tried Fogwise (and I am amazing at skill checks) and while it seems good on paper, it's just not good in practice. Knowing the killer's location when you're not in chase is just not as useful as people think it is.

Actually, I think Alert is better. It gives better information than Fogwise. With Alert you know that something got broken at a location so you get 2 pieces of information every time Alert procs. With Fogwise you only get 1 (the killer's location) unless the killer does something while you can see their aura. Even then, less than 3% of players run Alert.

Not to mention Fogwise is completely useless vs Fearmonger.
