Anyone deranking is bad.
That said, it is MUCH more of a survivor side issue. I see a killer deranking MAYBE once every 50 games if that even.
-
I made a post on this as well. These would be very cool skins.
-
So what is your point in this?

Yeah. Then this small minority will quit playing the game. Either way, it's a loss for everyone.
No, even if your scenario happened it's only a loss for a small minority of the population.
-
Lots of hard counters, she's fine.
She's probably even the epitomy of one of the most balanced killers in the game next to Huntress.
-
Map Reworks.
I was VERY excited to see this. I doubt it's going to be as extensive as we need though.
-
I just figured this was common sense to everyone.
This is also why i literally crawl in the opposite direction hoping the killer is dumb enough to fall for it (usually does).
-
What "it's no fun in high ranks" actually means is, "I can't bully the killer there and it's only fun when I win".
But yeah, it is a big problem. Especially when it's Fog Whisperers doing it off stream.

Therefore, those killers who are not playable on red ranks need a change/buff.
Agreed. 3/4 of the killer roster need substantial buffs.
-
To OP, your idea is actually what I think would be the best idea as well.
I don't like the idea of splitting the player base, but SWF is a serious issue and if there was ever anything that would be worthy of that risk it would be this.
SWF for Casual Que and Solo for Ranked Que.
We could even get lenient and allow a 2 man SWF in Ranked, just keep the 3 or 4 to Casual.
Give a little extra blood point bonus to Casual Que.
People will choose the casual for messing around, practicing new killers/perks and if they just want more bloodpoints. They will choose Ranked when they are ready to try and move up the ladder.
Obviously this entire idea only works if along with all of this they introduce regular rank rewards.
This is the best solution to make everyone happy with SWF imo.
Their current idea of bringing solo's up to SWF level is just a bad idea for a multitude of reasons.

This depends on how many hours/matches it takes to complete a devotion level in addition to how many levels are needed to make one purchase.
It's not the same for everyone.
If a match lasts 12 minutes on average not including spending bloodpoints, choosing perks, or waiting in lobbies a player can get 5 matches in an hour.
As a personal example, the Hag Gold & Silk cosmetic set I'm saving for costs 21,600 iri shards in total.
According to the iri shard chart on the dbd wiki it will take 217 matches to get to level 49 and gain a total of 9,920 iri shards. This would leave me with a remaining 11,680 iri shards to earn.
Levels 50-100 award 300 shards each so I would need 39 levels to meet my goal of 21,600 shards.
According to the chart it would take 362 matches to get from 50 - 100 meaning each level takes 7.24 matches to complete.
39 x 7.24 = 282 matches to reach the goal from level 49 making the total matches around 499.36 matches to grind out the shards from 0 to 21,600.
(499 x 12) / 60 = 99.8 hours or 4.16 days to grind a single rare cosmetic set. Or 33.27 hours for each of the 3 pieces in a set.
This is in one sitting, not counting time outside of a match or away from the game.
A person working a lower income job might make around $10 an hour which is roughly the same cost as the cosmetic in auric cells.
I'd hardly call this "extremely lenient" if my math is right.
I'm much more referring to purchasing Chapters with shards, not cosmetics. The devs have to make their money somewhere. Chapters are very lenient. Also, you are picking the most expensive cosmetics you could. There are much cheaper ones available.
Other than the top tier cosmetics it is in general, "extremely lenient".
There will always be some extremely expensive ones because as I said, they need to make money somewhere.

@Sairek If you think only 3 killers are viable at red ranks then you probably don't deserve to be in red ranks... Most of the killers are viable at red ranks.
And as @Hexyl said SWF is a part of the game and we shouldn't discourage people from playing with their friends
"If you think only 3 killers are viable at red ranks then you probably don't deserve to be in red ranks... Most of the killers are viable at red ranks."
If you seriously think this then you have very low played hours or don't play at red ranks yourself. This is obvious to anyone with a good amount of hours and high rank experience.

Only 2, maybe 3 killers out of 15 are viable in high ranks against actual good survivors.
Don't know about anyone else's school, but if I got a 3/15 marks in my school, that would be a giant "fail".
Killers are too slow. They need time that doesn't exist unless the other side literally flaffs about, which good survivors don't do, because skilled people don't run around like headless chickens being inefficient.
Combine the lack of time with multiple passive chase extenders and second chance perks, aaaand yeah.
Knowing that most of the times that you won a match as a killer wasn't because of your skill, but because the survivors were stupid, isn't exactly what I'd call a enriching feeling.
This exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself.
People like to focus on SWF only, but even against a full group of good rank 1 solo survivors it still isn't even close to balanced.
When you win it's because the survivors just played stupid.

Gaining shards is the same difficulty for everyone in the game.
The difference between players is the amount of time they can afford to play the game.
The grind for shards is longer for those without as much spare time to play dbd since their playtime is limited.
So I guess you meant to say that you have enough time to play dbd enough to earn that many shards.
"So I guess you meant to say that you have enough time to play dbd enough to earn that many shards."
No, that's not what I'm saying.
What I am saying is that the amount of shards people gain per hour compared to how much it costs for each purchase is extremely lenient.

Oh snap!He got you there!
Killer mains claiming survivor is easy is pretty funny!
I play both Killer and Survivor every day and I can tell you that Killer is much easier and more relaxing to play than Survivor.
And yes I do meet SWF!
He didn't get me with anything. Dying once doesn't mean solo survivor isn't very easy.
"Killer mains claiming survivor is easy is pretty funny!"
Seeing as you already know I play survivor at rank 1 as well this is a pretty stupid statement.
"I play both Killer and Survivor every day and I can tell you that Killer is much easier and more relaxing to play than Survivor."
Sorry but playing killer at rank 15 doesn't mean you have any idea what we're talking about.

The survivor super ez? You mean killer xd
Clearly you don't play killer at high rank
-
I'll agree to that if the skillchecks get halved in size or have a chance to come from the opposite direction now. Skill checks are currently way too easy and need to be made more difficult.
-
The devs are way nicer than they should be with how much they offer from game time alone. The shards come so easy that I'm able to buy every chapter for free and lots of cosmetics here and there.
-
I've actually mentioned this in our general Plague discussion thread. She seems to be much harder to pip with than the other killers, as well as still getting way less blood points.
-
I haven't seen anyone banned or jailed that wasn't deserving.
Link me what someone said that shouldn't have been banned or jailed.
Also, keep their names off it as we can't discuss specifically peoples bans. Let's keep this generally speaking.
EDIT: After looking at the rules we probably can't even discuss this in any shape or fashion.
"You can't discuss your or any other person's gamebans/forum bans on the forums in any way. All ban appeals go strictly to support.deadbydaylight.com"
-
They also confirmed Freddy Rework but that's on the list lol
-
I agree.
This happens A LOT.
I have regular SWF groups that will DC on every single game I get them after the match starts and they see I'm the killer. I don't camp, tunnel or anything and regardless of which killer I'm playing.
-
Were all the spelling errors intentional in the poll?
Also, I would've added map reworks to the list.
-
I disagree, especially at your rank. It's too easy to rank.
-
Huntress already feels like a sniper killer if you can get good enough with her hatchets.

@thesuicidefox yea I was thinking the same thing lol was wondering was I going crazy or something.
The timer hardly ever runs out so that is why if it removes the rng to the traps and always have them be removed on the last jigsaw box would work better I think. If you need to slow the timer down a bit to also help stop the timer running out that would be good.
Also when it comes to Judith's Tombstone I think it is in a ok place. Yea at high ranks it doesn't always work out but when it does it is a massive swing in the killers favour. This is one of the only add-ons where high risk, high reward really makes sense to me.
Also huntress iridescent head needs the very rare to work with it.
Well I preferred have it when the timer ends and not the last box because it lets you get even more value out of the addons that apply debuffs for having a RBT on because they'll be affected by them for longer.
Even the games where you get lucky enough to have the tombstone active, it's not happening till gates are powered or at best 1 gen left. I get the risk factor, it just seems way too high. I'd like something to add strength when you need it, not to meme.

@Blueberry "A smart high rank survivor isn't triggering that trap. It's good, but not ultra-rare worthy with the negative in its current form imo."
??? Mint Rag lets you teleport to any trap at will. They don't need to set off the trap, that's the whole point. They crouch, make the save, get MYC, you teleport anyway and hit them down. EZ.
Sorry I was thinking about something different. I still think the 15 sec cd is excessive.

@CashelP14 said:
I agree with most of these except for 2. Judith's Tombstone and Mint Rag.
I think the rest are all very good, especially Rule Set 2. That would waste so much time and cause a lot of survivors to panic. The only thing I would say is a swf will be able to tell their friends the killer has this add-on and they won't attempt to take off the traps.
I think Rule Set 2 should have survivors find the key in their 5th box everytime instead of it just falling off. Survivors won't know if it's luck or the add-on.
Judith's Tombstone I think is ok because it is basically only run with Infinite Tier 3. I think it would just be too strong otherwise.
Mint Rag I never would change. Just have Make Your Choice, trap the hook and your good. I think it's also in a very good place.
"I think the rest are all very good, especially Rule Set 2. That would waste so much time and cause a lot of survivors to panic. The only thing I would say is a swf will be able to tell their friends the killer has this add-on and they won't attempt to take off the traps."
Well by the time even 1 of them realizes this they would have already gone through the entire timer and even that's already been a lot of value itself. This is also assuming they are a swf that's in discord and not just grouped. Also the majority of swf aren't a full 4 man, that would mean at minimum you are getting the absolute full timer on at least 2 people and even that is a tonnn of time.
"I think Rule Set 2 should have survivors find the key in their 5th box everytime instead of it just falling off. Survivors won't know if it's luck or the add-on."
Well they would know because after the timer ends it will just pop off harmlessly.
"Judith's Tombstone I think is ok because it is basically only run with Infinite Tier 3. I think it would just be too strong otherwise."
In its current iteration no one runs this outside of meme's and even then the meme is never actually working unless you run it with ANOTHER ultra rare AND against low ranks that don't know what they're doing. Its current form has his very-rare tombstone piece just being better.
"Mint Rag I never would change. Just have Make Your Choice, trap the hook and your good. I think it's also in a very good place."
A smart high rank survivor isn't triggering that trap. It's good, but not ultra-rare worthy with the negative in its current form imo.

Nurse addons are kinda hard to change. I mean, imagine using this pink addon with campbells last breath. 7 blinks but with much more fatique, slower movement speed and less blink range. It would break the game in half like the Titanic. I think I have to look at my Nurse section again. Other Killers are okay in my opinion
Yeah I just want most the ultra-rares be addons you save for when you knows it's a hard group of survivors and you need the extra power. Currently when you see those groups you grab your very-rares instead because they are just better since they don't have all these crazy downsides attached to them.

When it comes to my Nurse addon change ideas... idk. One ultra rare suggestion was:
Sallie's darkest secrets:
- 3 additional chain blinks
- Considerably increases fatique duration (~ increases by 25 %)
- Considerably decreases movement speed (I think it was 15 % less or something)
I don't think anyone wants to see a 5 blink nurse..lol
I'd remove the negatives and make it 1 additional blink. A total of 3 blink nurse should be her ultra rare and is already pretty busted.

She's smack in the middle of mid tier at best. The best thing you can do wait until everyone is broken and then cleanse near an already completed generator because she's so damn slow with Corrupt Purge and the hit detection is awful. Make her cross the map to go get it and walk all the way back. Legion is better than Plague.
Legion: can rapidly injure all survivors, does not give unlimited heals to survivors
Plague: can theoretically put all survivors in Broken state. Is a giant traffic cone with a 32m terror radius. Has a corrupted form of vomit that actually registers hits half the time and slows her down tremendously when charging and holding. GIVES FREE UNLIMITED HEALS TO SURVIVORS to gain the aforementioned corrupted vomit that might hit someone.
Yeah I find it interesting to see people put Legion below Plague. The problems Legion and Plague suffer from are very similar. The difference being that Legion is actually much smaller and easier to mind game with. I still think he needs buffs, but he's better than Plague.

At some point of my life I found time to look at every Killer addon and try to change them to make them better. Most Killers have completely different addons now (in my list). I gave every Killer the same amount of addons (4 brown, 5 yellow, 5 green, 4 purple and 2 pinks)
I might look into them again because I have a feeling that some are a bit to strong and not well looked at.
With how the games balance has been for so long, I don't think starting at "too strong" and working our way back would even be that bad. The games been going with a starting at "really weak" and kind of, maybe, a little, working our way forward..lol
It would be nice to see something actually release in a strong state for once.

Yeah, I didn't really read this whole thread, I only saw people talking about ultra rares and then I strg c + strg v that link here. I have a huge Excel List of Addon changes/buffs for every Killer
I'd agree there is a long list of addons that need changes for a multitude of killers. That's not even touching on the ultra-rares yet. They started on it a long time ago but it was put on halt when they got a little too busy.

That's a lie. I've played with you as survivor before where you were the only one killed (and caught for that matter). No DCs in the match, it was highly unlikely you pipped or even safety pipped.
Clearly I'm not talking every single game, but picking out one single anecdotal event doesn't mean anything I've said isn't accurate as I'm speaking generally. Also, I probably did black pip.
-
He needs buffs. That said, I'd rather improve his strengths than lessening his counter play.
I'd rather have his TR reduced so staying injured is more dangerous. Next his regular M1 attacks shouldn't reduce his power bar at all. Finally, I'd like injured survivors that are hit with FF to have a twice as long Mend. This is more incentivizing to heal and actually gives you more reason to FF an injured.
Also, seeing how forgiving the Mend changes were (IE not ticking down in TR), they should be affected by "healing" perks like NC, Coulrophobia, etc.
These changes don't make him more dangerous or reduce his counter play. What these changes do is slow down the survivors more so that he has more time to make plays.
-
"Solo queuing as a survivor is damn near suicide"
If you really think this, then this is a L2P issue. I play both sides at rank 1 as strictly solo and solo survivor is still ridiculously easy. The only games I don't pip as survivor is because we had DC's.
The game has been getting better but killer is still the weaker role by far.
-
Well said OP and I basically agree with it all. Plague is fun but not rank 1 viable.
What it all boils down to is that the devs think the broken status and just staying injured in general is way more dangerous than it actually is.
With her high TR and tall height she is one of the most loopable killers in the game. Loops are too powerful for staying injured to matter. There are enough pallets and windows that they can finish all 5 gens before they run out.
Against good, high rank survivors you might get corrupted vomit once or twice if that.
Also because they aren't healing at all whether they use the fountains or not, she has zero slow down. This means she gets gen rushed to hell.
She needs extra penalties to staying infected/broken to make survivors cleanse. She already loses all pressure having to walk out of her way to pick up the Corrupted vomit even if she gets the opportunity. Not to mention she's even quite loopable while having Corrupted vomit because of its slow projectile speed.
-
@ZVom said:
No. Plague is good as she is. She is viable, she is fun to play - perfectly balance. Better Behaviour doesn't touch her.
If you think she's viable you don't play at high ranks.
-
They could stand to be updated A LOT. However they have said they are still being worked so I feel the devs already know this and agree they still need a lot.
I think they should also take advantage of the forums by having the DLC and recent cosmetics being advertised on the page to try and incentivize people or even just let them know of new releases. They are already paying for the page so it's kind of free advertising.
My biggest gripe is the forums on mobile. All of the topics and a lot of the print in general is in a dark red on a black background. This is really straining on the eyes. It needs to be a much, much brighter red or a different color. Not very user friendly currently.
-
I find them both fun, but Spirit is actually rank 1 viable. Plague is not viable against good survivors. Spirit is also much harder to play than most killers so it will take you a while to get good at her.
I'd recommend Spirit.
-
Yeah it's pretty funny seeing red ranks DC against a Trapper..I mean common..it's Trapper lol. Just sad.

That's the problem. "Mid tier" for Killer is a joke compared to default Survivors.
You are either top tier or nothing these days. There almost isn't a "mid tier" anymore when almost no Killer can stand their ground against good Survivor teams.
Yup basically. Top tier basically just means you are "almost" on a level playing field. I say almost because SWF still busts it and even a really good group of 4 solo's for that matter. You just have a "chance" now.
Mid tier means you are losing every game unless the survivors just play dumb.
The devs seem to aim for mid tier in balance but mid tier is unviable and never somewhere you want your killer to be.
-
Predator isn't worth a slot imo. Good survivors are juking you with walking mid chase anyway. Scratch marks are also only getting you in the general direction, most of Spirits reads are from sound and prediction.
If they made Predator also increase walking and running sounds, THEN we might be talking here, but currently no.
-
He's just like average mid tier and mid tier in this game isn't somewhere you want to be.
-
I find her fun but she's quite weak. Probably mid tier at best.
-
The Plague is also having some issue with her Emblems. It is way harder to pip on her compared to the other killers. Note that I don't mean kills or hooks, but pipping.
