On PS4 (ill assume it's the same issue on Xbox) playing Survivor, especially SWF you can wait 20 minutes just to even find 1 lobby. Then if the killer dodges you have to repeat. So it's hella frustrating. Do I understand the killer?I am on PS4 also. I usually play with 1 or 2 other people, so I understand the pain of lobby dodging. I purposely don't equip a flashlight and avoid prestige clothes because people DO dodge and some evenings it is really bad. So as a Survivor, I know the pain.
As a killer, I've maybe dodged a lobby 3-4 times total. Mainly after a rough game against players with flashlights. If I see all 4 people come in at once and they all have flashlights, I just worry that it isn't going to be good for my blood pressure.
-
So here's a situation that happened yesterday. I was Freddy. Caught a survivor, they DC. Another survivor is nearby, so I down them and put them in the basement. The other two remaining survivors are both working on the gen above the basement, so I put both to sleep and chase one. They get away, but the other one is clearly working their way back toward the basement. They jump down and unhook the person on the hook, who I put to sleep again. I begin to chase after both (they're running together) and suddenly the one who had been hooked DCs. The other two go down really quick after that.
After the game, the second person to DC (basement buddy) messages with quite the salt about being camped and tunneled. This went on for some time, as I tried to explain that it wasn't either, really. So, is a killer supposed to ignore the whole team when someone is on the hook? No. I don't enjoy camping or tunneling, and from my point-of-view, neither happened at all. What do you think?
-
There are reasons to dodge lobbies. Maybe you're not that experienced as the killer and everyone is bloody. Maybe everyone has flashlights? It seems lobbies are more likely to be dodged when there's a Squadette with flashlights.
I prefer people dodging lobbies to quitting.
-
Very much needed. I had this happen in three games yesterday and it's always when you're 30 seconds away from the win...

Shirtless Michael.

You'll be back,
Soon you'll see,
You'll remember you belong to DBD,You'll be back,
Time will tell,
You'll remember that I hooked you well. -

Luckily cutting the addiction is something we can doI'm weak. You all go on without me. I can't quit.

The devs are the drug dealers.
Sadly, as long as we're addicts, we're at their mercy.
-
I mean no disrespect to anyone who loves Deathgarden, but it will not hold my attention as long as this does. I do want to see an update for DBD one day to perhaps add new modes. I could see a refresh with DBD2.

I think a different visual cue would help. When gens blow up or windows are jumped through, we get that orange glowing alarm. What if when the crows caw, there's a blue alert in their direction? Make it different because the crows are slightly less useful information as people are probably running by them rather than interacting with them.
-
I think the biggest reason new players camp is because it feels like what you should do. You found someone... you don't just want to let them go.
I think experienced players will do it sometimes because there are real applications for camping at times.
-
So statically, it is more likely for people with low post counts to win.
Eventually, someone who posts a lot will.
It isn't the loterry, it's Auric Cells. Your life won't change too dramatically if you win.

July 24. Locking that in as my guess.

Sick of waiting ?
Dude, you're definitely playing the wrong game then.I think for most people, it's harder to wait when you can see that others aren't. Knowing that you're waiting while everyone else has been playing makes it harder to be patient. It's like when you walk into a restaurant and they tell you the table will be a 45 minute wait. You're patient. Then someone comes in and gets seated right away. It's that primal impatience coming up, but then you realize they must have had a reservation under "PC" or something. And you'd go eat at that "Civ5" restaurant, but you prefer your food a little more spicy.

I went up against a group of 4 SWF yesterday (PS4). One died REALLY quick (killed themselves on the hook). They then proceeded to message me non-stop on during the game while also complaining about my perks ("OMG only Tier 2 RUIN" or "Why no BBQ Chili" or "Whispers gonna get nerfed"). I know I don't have the best perks. Working on it. Super annoying messages tho and a total of 42 messages without my reply. (If you're not on PS4, when you get a message, its a loud alert that pops up with a message in the top left of your screen. It's super distracting and yes I could turn it off, but I'd have to go into Settings during the match.)
They knew NOED was coming, so all of the hex totems were dead before it could come up. That said, they got stupid at the gates trying to T-bag before they were open and then thinking they were invincible rescuing one another, so they all went down.
I did reply "thanks for the notes" to the guy who was spamming me. No reply.

Camping is fine. In general, it is to the killer's DISadvantage to camp, but sometimes it is important to them.
That said, camping creates a negative play experience for the person on the hook. It also is boring for the killer in my opinion.
To reduce this, I wish survivors were sacrificed slower while on the hook with the killer next to them. People would still camp, but there would be less reason to do it.
-
Hold on, I'm going to learn some Korean real quick.
-
To your first point... yup. I'm actually kind of glad for this one. I want more diversity in how the survivors function, though not a lot. Some people also disagree on who is the loudest survivor. I suppose it is a bit of a Yanny/Laurel situation.
To your second... well, I guess the killer could camp you if you're the last one left. I never really minded this and just accepted it. I am for speeding things up and while I see your point, it really should be game over at that moment.
-
I'm hoping for Perks that shake things up. If the past few days have taught me anything, it's that everyone's a little to cozy with pallets, loops, killer tiers, and such.
-
PS4 here.
I try my best to congratulate and even find myself saying "good for them" to myself at times. Everyone is playing the game the best they know how for their skill level, even if they camp, loop, tunnel, or whatever else. I wish these didn't exist, but much like real life, people have options and it's not up to me to police them.
Today, I played with someone who called me a "toxic teammate" for not getting to him after he'd attempted to escape the hook and went into struggle. We had a conversation and I never changed his mind, but I think people are anxious to blame anyone else for their failures in this game. Sometimes you mess up. Sometimes you have a bad game. Doesn't make you bad at the game or bad at life.
Be nice to killers: it's lonely when its 4 on 1.
Be nice to survivors: it's hard not wanting to let your team down. -
All saved up and ready to go here on PS4!
...wait...
-
Freddy.
Every other killer I feel is working as intended. I think Freddy's nerf brought him to a place that allows those with skill to win, but man is it frustrating.
-
I could post the established meta to a tee, but I'd rather reflect for a moment on what seems to be really working and not working both as a survivor and skill. So this list is my own personal skill and familiarity from both sides:
======STRONG=========
Michael Myers: I find Myers to be my best. It is rare I don't 4K with him.
Hillbilly: The speed is real. I tend to lose most against this guy.
Doctor: There is no hiding. Also, he is frustrating.======SOLID========
Huntress: Good survivors seem to be able to sneak away.
Cannibal: It's rare the multi-kill for chainsaw is helpful.
Trapper: I think Trapper is the baseline for killers.
Hag: What?!?! Yeah. Hag actually isn't bad in spite of her slowness.======OKAY=======
Freddy: I can do well as Freddy but he needs help.
Wraith: Meh. I seem to never lose to a Wraith.
Pig: I lose the worst as Pig. I always survive against the Pig.======???????===========
Nurse: I just can't. Yes. I know she is good. I just can't. -
@MrChills said:
Ik, I want to see these pallet changes and if they dont change anything, I am out. What exactly are you hoping for?
-
It would be cool to hear some official info such as the Killer's power and both side's perks, but hey... I can be patient.
-
My main question is can we have chest hair as a cosmetic?
-
@fml
I think the sentiment of a lot of people here is that while looping is an option you absolutely have at your disposal, it is a negative play experience and should probably be something that is de-incentivized. So, don't hate the player... hate the game. (Except I love the game.) -
I seem to lose frequently when I choose Feng.
I seem to lose always when I choose Nurse. But that one's because I lack the skill for her. -
As a Survivor, that person who wants to change characters to every character, showing they have blood all over themselves.
Okay, we get it. Ready up and don't get the killer all steamed. So many times a killer will quit lobby seeing this and to those killers I say: tunnel the changer.

Every update in sony and miscrosoft stuff costs money and it's not cheap, soo everytime the devs update your console they are losing money and there isn't really a point in spending 2x the money on a update when you'll get it 2 weeks later while on steam it's free to update the game.I think it was really expensive in the previous generation of games (PS3 era) but now I think that updates cost significantly less.
-
I think the best solution to SWF is to give the killer bonuses against SWF teams. Maybe these could be built into perks or maybe they could be passive abilties.
-
I've been tempted to write one. I may give it a go. Wraith or Huntress?
-
"You shouldn't camp gens!"
"You were the last person left in the game. You were working on a gen. I pulled you off of it."
"You're the kind of person who would kill a grandma for her soup spoon! Everyone needs to eat. Be nice to people, let them play! You're ruining the world. AWFUL. Reporting you."
(I have no idea what the soup spoon thing meant., they promptly blocked me.)
-
So I read this and the only real thought I have is this:
The devs have created something. Often, the community behaves like whiny children, begging their parents for a new toy, mocking them though the parent has "done a pretty good job" raising their kid. The children can't always agree on what they want and sometimes what they want isn't what is best for them. Also, daddy Cote has a job and a lot of responsibilities and some of the things the children want take time.
...At this point, were I a dev, I'd be really frustrated with the community. Play the game. Enjoy the game. Until we get Willy Wonka as a killer, there's zero reason to be whining like Veruca Salt saying "but DADDY, I want it nooooowwwww."
I've never seen another video game company do weekly updates in video format into the 100s. They're communitcating. They've been fairly transparent. Consider all of this and calm down.
-
So I'm going to disagree a bit. First off, I think I've only "rage quit" once or twice. If I'm playing any other video game and it is frustrating me enough to raise my blood pressure and altering me in real life, then I would turn the game off or at least quit the level that is causing me the annoyance.
That said, I think it's fair to give maybe a 5-minute cool-down (and healthy, too). I think someone upthread mentioned a scaling punishment. That makes sense too.
-
Daddy David and I would get along very well.
-
...Strike that. The liscensed characters shouldn't be getting cosmetics, so not Quentin, Laurie, Tapp, Leatherface, Freddy, Michael, or Pig.
So maybe around 204.
-
Favorite: Coldwind Farm. Hard to say why, except I just always seem happier when I see this than the others.
Least Favorite: Blackwater Swamp. I hate this place as both sides.
-
I like your ideas overall but I think the biggest point you bring up is the second. Freddy needs to be able to interact better with someone on a generator or totem.
I like your idea of tricks in the dreamworld!
-
In my opinion, you'll want to grind Claudette out on the survivor side first for Empathy and Self Care. Really, that's about it right off.
On the killer side, they're all over the place. Hag will yeild you Hex: Ruin, Leatherface will give BBQ and Chili. Those are probably two of the best killer perks in the game.

Killer perk;
The Final Act
Once the gates are powered 2/3/all remaining dull totems become hex totems and are revealed to the survivors, these totems are not revealed to the killer. The exit gates can not be opened as long as a totem is still standing. Totems will pop by themselves after twenty seconds per totem passes. (just to prevent the killer camping one)
The show must go onI thought it would be a nice way to deal with gen-rush and give the survivors a reason other then NOED to cleanse the dull totems.
I like your idea here- I could see this being an excellent way to improve the endgame.
-
@Leon I'm interested... I keep seeing Michael with NOED and was scratching my head at it.
The other perks I have currently aren't terribly inspiring. There's Enduring, Make Your Choice, Thanatophobia (which I have used somewhat), and Blood Warden.
If I could pick any other perk, I'd probably love Overchage.
-
Hackers are out of control on this free weekend.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and Megs.
-
I've gotten strangely too comfortable with my perk set and have it on half of my characters. I feel naked if I'm not using these:
-Self Care
-Unbreakable
-Empathy
-PremonitionWhich would you cut first and for what other perk?
-
Im somewhat new to killer, so here's where I am.
Michael.
Ruin (3)
BBQ and Chili (3)
Nurse's Calling (3)
Thrill of the Hunt (3)...I have NOED but it seems a lot of games it wasn't useful. Any ideas for other perks to try (I don't have many other excellent ones unlocked).
-
I'm very opposed to camping as a general rule of thumb. That said, I see a few times it is okay:
-When you can see the other players nearby, hiding behind a tree. Especially when you see ALL of the other players nearby. There is literally zero reason for the killer to go elsewhere.
-Certain builds and certain players that would respond with altruistic actions... so you're essentially treating the person like bait. I personally don't do this, but its a time I understand it more. This works well when the exit gates are open.
-When you (stupidly) invested way too much time into chasing this person who flashlights you, drops every pallet, teabags, loops you around, decisive strike, struggles free... etc. There's a point where emotion takes over and you'll tank your own game to make sure they are camped and dead. I've done this twice. I hate it, but sometimes you're just salty.

4 items for each slot.
So 12 items per character.
So, in theory... 288 items.
