So whatever streamers and youtubers say we should listen to and blindly follow? I'm willing to bet had they said it was good it'd be considered the best change in DBD history.
I'm not sure you read what I said. Having the same opinion as somebody else doesn't necessarily mean you're just parroting them and can't think for yourself.

Tbh I only see people complaining after youtubers complain so I literally don't think this is anything but piggy backing.
Normal people may not be able to start playing the new patch as soon as it drops which obviously would delay their feedback. Meanwhile it's the job of Youtubers and Twitch streamers to cover the new content ASAP.

The devs know better than us what we are supposed to like. In time we'll have to fall in line and like the new HUD. /sarcasm

I honestly don't blame you for leaving. The game is a mess right now & obviously we don't want to deal with the result of that.
With this being said, I play Plague sometimes and I recommend doing the Down n Puke. Usually survivors expect you to do nothing but puke on them when you're next to them. Instead, give them a bop on the head and once you down them, then you can puke on them. They never expect it.
Thank you for the advice! I noticed I've been obsessing with getting the puking right and have been reluctant to use M1 even when it would be tactically better.
I've been trying to get survivors infected whether by puking on them or puking strategically on objects. The trouble is they cleanse faster than I can infect them and I am far from using the Corrupt Purge at its full potential. I'm trying to learn how to balance between Vile and Corrupt and apply pressure properly. The killers I usually play are Hag, Pig and Legion so Plague feels very different.
-
@Antrapace I play killer in the evening when getting a lobby as a survivor takes too long. Matchmaking is all over the place in both modes but I think you're right that evenings are even worse.
@Kirkylad Sadly the killer to survivor ratio won't improve as a result. Matchmaking feels almost non-existent to me. At the most one survivor is properly matched with the killer.
@MikeyBoi Interesting. I remember when the matchmaking started using the lowest rank survivor in a SWF as base. I have some fond memories of finally not having to wait 20+ minutes in queue as rank 20 killer but being matched with SWF groups with 3 red ranks and one rank 20 survivor. And the red ranks doing everything in their power to protect the "baby survivor" from the big bad killer. Then it got changed to use the highest rank as base. I'd be surprised if it has been reverted.
@Karao_Ke I just came back from a half year break myself and I'll be gone again before long. Meanwhile I've had some fun times on my other killers but mostly on survivor learning to be efficient and to make the best of a match with a random team. I got excited to try learning Plague again but god, it's been rough... The not existent matchmaking is accelerating the process of making DbD more trouble than it's worth again XD

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but don't you think this should be pinned somewhere, or announced?
People are clearly upset about this, and we shouldn't have to dig through threads or pester mods to hear about basic responses like this.
It's kind of bewildering tbh.
Totally agree. It's an important enough issue to warrant pinning it at the top of the forums together with the Q&A announcement.
I thought the auras weren't so bad until I played a couple killer matches and on some maps it felt like the survivors all had Boil Over. It was tremendously difficult to find the closest hooks. Then I played a match with Hex: Ruin on Ormond and I couldn't find my own totem despite ignoring the survivors and walking around the map searching for it.
If the intent wasn't to significantly change the way auras appear, why were they changed at all, I wonder.
-
Yes but I can't find any patch notes for it.

Sure, I get that. But why linking all 3 parts then? His weapon could be unlinked and they could just link what is REALLY needed like body and head
Maybe it's all or nothing.
-
Maybe combining the new clown outfit with others would expose a seam at his neck and that's why they decided to make it linked instead of trying to fix it. I still wish it were possible to match it with other pieces though.

Extremly hard only a master will have a chance to do this, but not impossible. Keep in mind that people already did similar stuff (mentioning FunGoose once more, 117 4Ks in a row with Plague, no offerings no addons)
Streak aside, it's still harder to get merciless with set perks than to 4K with a strong perk combo. I'm personally not impressed by streaks but that doesn't mean it's not a valid challenge.
Edit: I meant perks, not addons.
-
I think all modifiers are based off the 100% values and not the current value before applying the modifier so they are additive.
For example when you are calculating killer movement speed, it's always based on the running speed of survivors (that's the 100%) and not on the default unmodified speed of the killer. Therefore if srs = survivor running speed:
Wraith's default cloaked movement speed is 1.26 * srs. Yellow Windstorm addon is +12 % according to wiki.
1.26 * srs + 0.12 * srs = 1.38 * srs or 138%.
And not:
(1.26 * srs) * 100% + (1.26 * srs) * 12% = (1.26 * srs) * (100% + 12%) = (1.26 * srs) * 1.12 = 1.4112 * srs or 141 %
I hope that covers the mathematical part of it.

That's only on steam, but interesting none the less. that's inarguable. Does it say how often survivors reach rank 1?
For survivors it's 6.3%. Other hard achievements according to Steam are the various "Adept" challenges, i.e. getting "merciless killer" match result while having only the 3 unique perks of that killer equipped.
@xEa said:
If you want to do something nobody has ever succeeded, make your own challange.
I am positiv, even the best struggle with one of those examples:
- 100 4Ks in a row playing the Clown or Leatherface (on Rank 1 ofc)
- Getting a 4K as perkless Burgerking Myers against a Rank 1 4-Man Squad.
After you have done one of those, i bow to you.
That's a bit unrealistic imho.
-
Accomplishment:
- the successful achievement of a task;
- an activity that a person can do well, typically as a result of study or practice.
According to Steam only 3.8% of the players have reached rank 1 as killer. I think that does make it an accomplishment worth going for. Will it mean that you are a stellar killer and will never lose a match again? Obviously not but it shows you've put in the time to work on your skills.
Personally I measure the improvement of my skills by how well I can apply pressure and predict survivors' actions, by not making stupid mistakes and using my power to its full potential. This could result in a 4K but it doesn't need to (however, it's particularly satisfying to be underestimated and then kill everybody).
Basically the most important is your satisfaction with your skills and not other people acknowledging your ability or not.

Many of the devs have said itβs bannable because it stops players from playing the game regularly
I don't know where they've said that but we have a mod on page 1 saying that it's ok as long as everybody wants to participate:

It really is tbh, but you are choosing to let this killer know you have no intentions of helping them earn some points, while they would do the same.
So I would expect salt, or even a straight tunnel till death before they start farming with the rest.
I personally just chase the people who don't and let the others unhook em twice, then I'll leave them alone.
Sorry but I'm a bit confused. It really is what?
The killer did hook me twice and I would have been ok with him just sacrificing me. Slugging me while the others farm would be another matter though.
I know people can get salty about anything that doesn't go their way but it's still funny. I'm not obliged to help anybody earn points. They should work for them.

@Pulvoriser said:
Consider they were all on the train and you were the odd one out, spoiling the fun and the points from 4 other people. Selfish if you ask me.
Also FYI, Most archives are mainly done though farming I might add.
It is not selfish to want to play the game you logged into. If I want Farmville, I'll play Farmville. I'm sorry if I spoil other people's fun because they had different expectations of DbD. If other players agree to farm - great, but it's nobody's responsibility to go along with it since they got in game to have fun.
Regarding the archives challenge, all the gens were already done so there was nothing in it for me. I usually complete my challenges playing normally. Have you tried completing a safe unhooks challenge while farming?

If the others are farming, you are as well doing it.
However, when a survivor knows its going to be a farming match beforehand and still stays despite knowing they have no intention of farming, that's pretty dam toxic .
Best just to leave the lobby of you dont wanna farm, but some killers don't tell you in the lobby there intent.
At least on PC you can't communicate with the killer before the match.

I didn't know that!!! Wow, finally these people can get banned for it. I'm so tired of farmers, I usually just dc if the killer wants to farm because it's a waste of time. But with the dc penalty I was kinda forced to stay in that match and it was sooo annoying when the entire team and the killer went out of their way to force me to farm with them. They sandbagged, bodyblocked and also throw insults for not farming.
That's exactly why I made this thread. When the official stance on this issue is unclear, many people are forced to put up with it.
@cloudface said:
π I'm confused; farming what? If it's points farming in OP's example, well the killer only got 17k bp and I'm sure I've gotten scores in the low 20k zone with 0 kills before. Farming some specific action for a challenge? Again, I've focused on hitting challenges and still got more bp. Shards farming? That's just 10 minutes of game time and unless you AFK for it you can still kick some gens and scare a few survivors for over 17k bp π
Killer was almost MIA in the beginning of the match. I had a challenge to repair gens so that's what I did and never had to worry about the killer. I guess he was planning to farm after gens were done π

all i can say is think of this game when you are put in a position of mercy, whether it is tunneling a survivor or not giving them hatch. It's pointless to bring up situations like this to the devs, they have made it quite clear that they don't really care about how mentally taxing their game is on their players. I guess they think that because it's a horror game it's fine, when the thing is the game isn't scary at all, just frustrating to play. Even going as far as to joke about it when asked a legitimate question about mental health.
I can't believe he said that. When working in customer service, we were told never to agree with a client who says the company sucks. Never. The game director saying, "go play another game if you don't like it", is even worse because he should know better. Mind = blown.
-
I think it's best to expect the worst. Expect that the devs are not going to listen and find what enjoyment you can in the game as it currently is. Even if we assume they give their best to improve the game, they'll probably not manage to please everybody.
-
@Inji said:
Farming is voluntary and is fine as long as people want to participate. If they actively tried to sandbag you so the killer could farm with you, then an in-game report for grieving is appropriate.
If you have any additional evidence (like a video) of the match, then you can send that evidence to the support team here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us -Ingame report is mandatory-
I have filed an in-game report but I don't record my games. There was no sandbagging going on, just hook farming and trying to force me to farm or basically spend the rest of the match slugged.
-
I think that the current viewing angle makes it generally more difficult to see items because survivors' right hands are obscured by their bodies. Add to that the various idle animations. The first screenshot is from a year ago and the second is obviously from the current Silent Hill themed screen.

You're on XB1 so you can record the last few minutes by clicking the XBOX button in the middle and then "X". It will record up to 5 minutes that you played before which probably is enough to proof they were intentionally hiding especially if you run Surveillance like in your screenshot.
Actually I'm on PC but playing with a controller.

Yup, it's quite infuriating. They apparently had fun hiding though. Holding the game hostage is a bannable offense but I assume you need to submit at least video evidence to hope for any consequences for those players. I don't know about you but I don't record my matches.

I'm waiting for them to confess that there is really no matchmaking system. The players are getting matched randomly.
In all seriousness though, I hope the upcoming MMR system actually reflects skill.

Title. Why is this allowed? We can't see killers name. Today had a few games with friends where killers automatically leave the lobby and one also left just at the start of the match cuz we put 3 petrified oaks. He said he doesn't want to play against swf. Okay bro, i guess you'll play alone if they remove swf cuz this game would be dead in 1 week. And we are totally chill team, not even that good like people are talking about that bAd sWf.
I had some trouble deciding which of your posts to quote but based on your replies in this thread you don't have the best attitude out there. I understand you're upset because you probably had to wait a long time for a killer lobby but that's still no reason to pretend that the game will die without swf's, etc, etc. There are plenty of solo survivors out there.
-
He's getting hate mail because some people are sore losers and need to blame another person for their loss instead of improving their strategy. Sometimes I get the feeling survivors are so bored that they have no patience not to do everything right in front of the killer.
-
What I do is just minimize chat by clicking on the icon. The chat in the survivor lobby has been effectively off for months and I haven't missed it (I always solo queue). I keep the post-match chat on or off depending on whether I want to miss stuff like:
(me learning to play Ghostface)
What I'm trying to say is the chat has its good and bad sides. If it bothers you, minimize it. Toxic people can easily circumvent filters to insult you.

Unless they know that everyone is good they aren't leaving. As a side note, they aren't pity hits. If the killer had a rough game they are trying to at least get them some points. Despite the popular narrative that floods these forums not all survivors are #########. Alot of them want the killer to have fun as well. Failing that they'd at least like them to get some points for their effort.
Pity: the feeling of sorrow and compassion caused by the suffering and misfortunes of others.
Especially if the killer had a rough match, it's not a friendly gesture to give them a pittance of bloodpoints at the gate. Just leave so they can get another match which would hopefully go better so they can get more bloodpoints. Don't waste their time and make them walk to the gate just to chase you out. If the survivors in question wanted the killer to have fun too, they wouldn't have needed to outplay the killer hard during the match itself. The attitude of survivors is surprisingly easy to read when you're in a chase with them.
Personally I only wait at the gate if a teammate might need help and I might get some points meanwhile from healing. I leave if the match is obviously over or if I think somebody is waiting for the hatch.

idk, the long queue time just to wind up with less points that I'd get as survivor especially with wglf is just a discouragement for me lol. now that event is over, the times I dos till play, it's only survivor lol. but for now I'm on death stranding on steam, and on ghosts on my pro this weekend. prolly won't be back often till double BP.
I don't care about bloodpoints at the moment. During the anniversary event I got all my survivors and killers to at least 40 and I have almost all perks on the characters I main. I don't see a reason to prestige. I got to red ranks on survivor but I'm kinda tired playing that side. In the past when I was trying to rank up killer, I had 20+ min queues but now it's 5-6 mins or instant late night. I still have bazillion anniversary offerings on several of my killers but I stopped using them because I'm constantly about to hit the bloodpoint cap. I used to strive to rank up mainly to improve my queue times but now I'm fine where I am. Therefore, I don't stress about points and pips at the moment and just hone my blade :)
-
Reminds me of one match I recently had on Deathslinger's map. I let the last survivor wiggle out and go to look for the hatch but I found it first. I went looking for the survivor but they were in hardcore hiding mode and apparently not getting the point. I left the hatch open for what felt like 10 mins before losing my patience and finally closing it to start the timer.

I 100% guarantee those people deranked on purpose to go against low level killers to bully them. No survivor at the actual rank will go flashlight and get that many points in a normal game. Look at their perks too.
I totally agree. That's why I care about skill level and not rank anymore. I have been matched with red ranks and most of the time they feel like purple but the yellow ranks I get are usually deranked experienced players. Matchmaking has been giving me distinctly different skill level survivors depending on the hour. During the day and early evening I get longer killer queues and more experienced players and around midnight it's instant queues and good matches.

Unfortunately you get a lot of people who think winning is fun. As in, the only way to have fun in this game is to "win." 4K, 3K, whatever they think, if they don't get that, they don't have fun.
A lot of people don't live in the moment, they live for the victory. The victory determines what is fun, not the experience.
Been there, burnt out, didn't play DbD for months, came back recently and I'm trying to make the time I spend playing worth it and not just another source of stress. Different people have different priorities and that's ok.

That is a very rare example. I never saw 4 flashlights in one of my games, but you have seen it in the lobby, if they not just changed it right before it started (dick move). Legion is a weak killer as well.
Yes, if I get a flashlight team, it's usually 2-3 flashlights and they don't go as far as to coordinate their addons.
Are you suggesting I should have dodged that lobby or picked a stronger killer? I've only dodged once recently when I got matched to the same 4-man swf right away again. Usually I can't be bothered to dodge.
I got Legion recently and I'm currently maining him because I want to work on my basics. I don't want to get carried to higher ranks by a strong killer. Therefore, I picked a non-stealthy, non-teleporting killer whose power I enjoy . I got inspired by some scary good killers playing Trapper, Legion, Clown, etc.

I'm so mad I was on hiatus and missed the Legion Rift cosmetics. I'll probably get Susie's outfit in @LordGlint 's screenshot though. Currently running with default Julie. I hope there's at least something for Legion in the new Rift.
-
As a still inexperienced killer player I try to see it as a learning experience. Let them show me their tricks and eventually I'll figure out ways to deal with them. I'm not trying to win as much as not make stupid mistakes and learn to make the right choices. It's not always easy to stay calm but at least for me the less I care about keeping the match together, the better I play. I've been holding my own just fine against players of my skill level (not rank) but getting used to the advanced survivor tactics is taking time.
Played against this SWF group last night and they tried to grief me with their flashlights so hard. It turned into total chaos and I actually ended up having quite a bit of fun working on my flashlight evasion skills and catching them off guard. I'd like to think they got more than they bargained for. Most of all fun = win, no matter if the survivors escape or not.
I don't feel obliged to see the survivors off at the gates just because they're waiting there. Let them wait, the timer is running anyway. What I am currently getting annoyed by is when I get 2 survivors at the end who are good at chases and/or hiding but apparently repairing generators is below them. They refuse to even touch the remaining gens (I have Surveillance) and the match drags on for ages. I'd rather be genrushed and move on with my life.
