Did they already finish or have they not started yet? I just came out of a match so that was available at least.
-
Take a healthy break. Rift will be back soon enough.
-
You can if another survivor uses a map offering too.
-
I am ok with Midwich on survivor but just now I had an exhausting patrolling match there on killer and god, it was frustrating.
-
If it doesn't have the "linked" indication, you should be able to mix and match them just fine.
Edit: The bloody prestiged look is available only for the default cosmetic pieces.
-
Since they extended the anniversary event, they could have extended the window to get anniversary skins as well. It would have made sense.
-
I gave it a try and I think I managed to come up with a nice simple solution:
Please bear with me as I didn't have math in English.
- The area of the center rectangle which we are looking for is x. Let's say rectangle A includes the left and center rectangles and rectangle B - the center and right ones. If we add the areas of rectangle A and B together, we get the areas of the left, right and twice of the center rectangle.
- We write an equation describing the long sides of the big rectangle. The bottom side is on the left and the upper side is on the right. Out of (2) we get that a is 7.
We substitute a in (1) and get x without inexact division and decimals.
-
As a survivor I only wait by the exits if I anticipate somebody needing a last minute safe. Otherwise I don't see a point wasting my time. The match is over, I'm out. As a killer I don't really care. Sometimes I go to the doors to herd the survivors out and sometimes I leave them there to contemplate life. If I am getting bothered by their' antics, I'm probably generally on edge and shouldn't be playing killer at that exact time anyway.
-
There's nothing wrong with leaving a game when you're not having fun anymore. It's neither a religion, nor a job. I left in the middle of Tome 1 and came back a week ago. Even if you leave, you can always come back if the mood strikes you, you still own the game. There are quite a bit good games out there to explore so you can see every end as a new beginning ;)

For all the people who think the devs will revert billy back to his old ways i see it as a extremely small chance. Why would they bother removing the overheat mechanic when they spent so much time on it, and on top of that removing it will probably ruin something in the spaghetti code. Most likely all that's going to happen is maybe 5 more sec added to the overheat timer but i don't see this new mechanic going away at all.
Agree. No matter how many people say they'd quit because of Billy's changes, the devs would adjust the new mechanic at best.

Not necessarily, they could place items like medkids and toolboxes on the ground in front of them and could be holding keys and flashlights in a obvious way so that the killer can see them.
Yeah, there are ways to make sure the items are visible. The question is whether BHVR would implement it in a good way.
-
Interesting idea. Only issue I see is that it might be harder to see what items they are bringing.
-
You're patrolling your hooks a bit too hard, e.g. around 2:30 in the video. You can use Devour Hope as an indicator of a fairer distance if you want to get a feel for it.
-
I'm just gonna drop this Otzdarva video in here as a good compendium of builds:

This game officially thrives on frustration. Might be a good idea to get that enjoyment in another game.

But it shows a DC Symbol.
Everytime if a Game crashed then it dosen't show me a DC Symbol.
It's not consistent. In the thread below both I and the killer have DC symbols. I didn't DC so I thought the killer DC'd. Based on the comments from other players in the thread who don't play survivor solo, it turns out that only I crashed and the match continued normally for the rest of the players.

But I think it would be more aknowledged.
I'm not so sure it would be acknowledged. I'm on PC and at some point I had random crashes as killer, including some right when picking up a survivor or finding them in a locker. Never heard any acknowledgement about it happening or anything about fixing it. Fortunately, it doesn't happen to me anymore but random crashes are still pretty frequent from what I've seen.
Also I assure you you don't want the dedicated servers. I've lost count of the times I've had to press a button twice for an action to execute properly, both as killer and survivor. Unhooking? Press twice, hope you were not in a hurry. Opening a 99% gate? Press twice, it's not like the killer is chasing you. Setting up a trap? Press twice, looking down is good for your health. Damaging a generator? Press twice. You're getting the picture...

The temptation to mash the crouch button was too much, and while we aren't under any legal obligation to replace the keyboards/controllers of those who do, we felt morally that we should remove that temptation. Now you just need to teabag once per second for maximum bleeding.
If BHVR felt moral obligation to keyboards and controllers, why is struggle on 2nd hook still a thing? XD

- The game itself is not dying but that doesn't help the queue times for killer in grey ranks (which I assume you are after not playing for a long time).
- The toxic people tend to be more vocal and memorable than the non-toxic people. I don't know what games you have played but from my experience any PvP activities tend to attract a certain level of toxicity.
- Nerf and buff requests are a big part of the forum threads at least. Not sure how a game should look like without nerfing and buffing certain parts of it. Just adding new content? I think the issue with DbD is that nerfing/buffing the right thing in the right way is tricky to say the least.
- Really listen? No. Sorta listen? Yes.
I know it can be frustrating trying to get out of grey ranks on killer but it's doable with some patience. My advice would be to persevere, make your way to yellow ranks and then decide whether you want to stay. In the end we play to have fun.
-
This is a funny quote. Do people go get a drink during first hook then?
-
After reloading the game I got 6 000 shards and 350 000 BP. That altruistic role sucked to play and the ROI does not make it better.

What shocked me the most was Hag being the least played killer at red ranks. Her killrate is one of the best too, so it can't be that she's weak.
I'm learning to play Hag and consider her my main killer. I think the reason for her low popularity is just that she plays very differently from other killers and not everyone likes that kind of playstyle. Which is ok. I don't think all killers need to have the same pickrate just as the number of people who like strawberries is not necessarily the same as the number of those who don't.
Changing Hag to make her more popular would require erasing what currently makes her unique and enjoyable for those who play her and according to the stats are pretty good at that job.
-
While getting stats is awesome, I would like to give some suggestions for their presentation.
In the maps diagram it would be helpful to include the names of the maps in addition to the pictures. Not everyone can recognize Fractured Cowshed and Rotten Fields by the image alone.
In the Nurse chart it's not clear how her "performance" is measured exactly. Do the bars represent the kill rate like in the first two diagrams, the "pick rate" or something else entirely?
-
I'm gonna join in on the party. Got an email but no rewards 😫

Or (as what happens to me all the time) if you’re on a killer related thread and suggest anything fair for survivors, or on a survivor thread suggesting anything fair for killers, well then you’re a traitor then aren’t you! Accused of just a killer pretending to be a survivor main, or a survivor pretending to be a killer main.
So true.
-
Making it automatic could be a solution for people suiciding on hook too.

Thanks! I’m currently enjoying Wraith but he is frustrating against swfs who body body block. I’m not a pro gamer and never will be, so I could never master any killer. Who do you recommend would be good for someone like me to play as that will give swfs a pain in the butt?
I don’t need to kill all of them, two will make me happy.
I'm a beginner killer myself (rank 16 currently) and I'm nowhere near knowledgeable about all the killers but the way to find the best killer for you and is to give every killer a chance. No rush.
I started on Wraith too but then got frustrated with his power and moved on but I'm thinking about going back with the experience I've gained meanwhile.
I've had surprisingly good matches on my lvl 1 Freddy. I only take him out for dailies at the moment while I main Hag but Hag is a tough nut to crack. People say Spirit is OP (even though she's getting changed in the next chapter) but I personally don't enjoy playing her. On the other hand, Pig is not generally very strong at the moment but I enjoy being stealthy in a different way from Wraith and landing that dash attack is very satisfying. I hadn't tried Trapper until the Rift came out because everyone was saying how weak he is and how nobody ever gets caught in his traps. After playing Hag first, however, Trapper has been fun.
Aggressive SWF teams will be frustrating. It takes time to learn their tricks and find ways to deal with them. I don't think any killer in my beginner hands would secure a win against them. I know they'll escape unless they make a very stupid mistake so I take the time to hone my skills on them in chases where they're usually happy to show off XD Be calm, be vigilant and you'll eventually start to see the holes in their defense.
Some actual practical advice:
- Keep your chases short with high return on investment. Don't get baited away unless you're working on your chasing skills.
- Don't damage a generator if there's a survivor circling nearby ready to tap it. First make the survivor run away by injuring them. Of course, a down is even better.
- Beware of pallets and flashlights when picking up survivors.
- Think ahead and don't always follow right behind the survivor. Surprise them. Traps in meta placements for example don't work well against experienced survivors.
- I've had some fun on Wraith with Bone Clapper and "The Ghost" - Soot. Find a gen being worked on, uncloak out of sight, profit.
I hope it's helpful. I'm not an expert or pro gamer myself. But it can be immensely satisfying when I finally get the hang of something. I don't know whether you've tried Dark Souls 3 but there's that fight against Pontiff Sulyvahn and it's not considered wildly difficult by the community but when I tried it for the first time, I thought it was impossibly difficult and I would never get past it. Fast forward a couple days, I got the rhythm of it, beat the boss and ended up liking it so much I went to help others with it.
P.S. Sorry for super long post XD

You said you worked hard to get out of grey ranks as killer meaning you only play survivor. This was justification for why it's ok for the survivors to be toxic, something again nobody was talking about.
Maybe im connecting the wrong dots but it seems suspect lol
The OP was talking about survivors being toxic. Or maybe I'm wrong and you can explain to me the meaning of that first post.
Me playing a survivor is a justification for why it's ok for survivors to be toxic? LOL

Damn what im getting from this is you're a toxic survivor.....who is likely about to become a toxic killer lol
I was hoping that forcing people to play both sides would make people chill tf out but since after rank reset I'm coming across a lot of bad killers who just camp the first person they hook I think it just made the game worse
Also wasn't talking about toxicity in game neither was OP lol you just kind of volunteered that info
Well... I don't get how you still think I'm toxic after that long explanation but you're entitled to your own opinion. I guess if I don't start waving a sign "stop toxicity", I'll be toxic. Not to mention you have no context past me saying that toxic people exist and are not going anywhere.
-

That's what im getting from your post. "Toxic people exist, deal with it!"
It's a fact though. Complaining about them won't make them go away but come back stronger. I'm just saying because I've recently put a lot of work to finally get out of grey ranks on killer and had to deal with a lot of bullying and general toxicity. It's a bit surprising to come across as toxic when I'm saying that having a thick skin is the best way to deal with it.

Only game where the community not only admits their toxic but are proud of the fact lol.
I swear some people only play this game because you can consistently win as survivor. They don't even like horror!
Just to make sure, are you saying I'm proud to be toxic in my post?

I always found it funny because no matter the argument if your on the opposite side of it your now "x main" why do I need to main anything to disagree with a bad idea.
On a funny note, I play killer and survivor and suck at both. This has helped me not to take seriously so many "discussions" on the forum, it's amazing.

And you're suggesting...what? Living with that?
I'm sure that will attract and retain new players. Good job buddy, the game will live for years to come.
What I'm suggesting is learning to deal with toxic players and keeping your peace of mind instead of dreaming of the day all people with less than noble intentions would be wiped from the face of earth. The game and the forum are just miniatures of the world outside.
@PigMainClaudette : I agree that there is little actual discussion going on but unfortunately discussing more about it is not going to make it better. You can't wake up those who pretend to be asleep.

Pretty much like your comment.
The discussion here is legitimate. Balancing the game is all well and good but the community itself is a problem. It needs to be cleaned up.
The community needs to be cleaned up? Seriously? Toxic people exist. Nothing new to the this community, the internet or the world.

A survivor on my team during the experiment said they've given out Auric cells in the past but that sounded too good to be true. The organizers promised to upload the rewards by the end of the workweek so we should find out soon.

Thanks for this information... to make sure I understand, are you suggesting I rank up other Killers to unlock their perks so they are available in the shrine? I have two pages of perks, but the second page only has one perk on it with several empty slots available.
Just to be clear, you can see the unique perks of each killer on their info page. People usually call them teachables since you can "teach" them to your other killers.
Here's the Doctor as an example. When you reach lvl 30, 35 and 40 respectively you can unlock the teachable versions of his unique perks. They appear as orange in the bloodweb and you have the option to buy them or not. If you don't buy them, they'll continue appearing in every bloodweb of the Doctor until you do.
As you see in the screenshot above the first perk, Overwhelming Presence, doesn't have a check mark next to it. This means the killer has reached the required level but the orange perk has not been purchased. This perk will not appear in the bloodwebs of other killers.
The second perk, Monitor & Abuse, has been unlocked and will appear in the bloodwebs of other killers. When it will appear, however, is up to the RNG and you might get it in the next generated bloodweb or need to go through many bloodwebs until it finally pops up.
The third perk's teachable version is not available to purchase yet because the Doctor is not high enough level.
The Shrine of Secrets is an alternate way to get these perks if you don't own the killer or you don't want to level him/her/it. Purchasing a perk in the Shrine has the same effect as leveling a killer and purchasing his orange perks in the bloodweb.
-
I've seen this with Nurse.
-
You're welcome :)
-
Maybe you have acquired all the perks that are available for you at the moment? Could be the case if you haven't unlocked many teachables from other killers.

Who the hell would play survivor to level killers? Lol. Killers are the be all end all for BP.
Somebody who has 20 mins killer queues but seconds for survivor.
-
Thing is, a rank 10 killer player with a level 1 killer character will still destroy beginners. Same is true in the other direction.
Edit: Also the queues for grey rank killers are terrible even with the current matchmaking where you get matched with up to rank 7 (in my experience).
-
Just because you got the perks doesn't mean you're a skilled killer. Some people play survivor and use the bloodpoints to level their killer (those 20 min queues...).
-
He/she literally is getting resurrected using the Yamaoka's blood to put it in context. The scroll to the right of the demon mask in Rin's trailer says "revival of the dead".
-
The new killer won't be Rin's father. It'll be someone who got resurrected using that altar (the right scroll in the original "First Cut" trailer says "revival of the dead"). Since the father's voice says "your blood is Yamaoka's", the new killer will be connected to Rin's family only in the sense that her blood was used to resurrect him/her.
-
The bad thing is that even if they implement a punishment, the DCers will start dodging it by suiciding on hook.

I don't know whether it has been implemented correctly but it sure matches me with all kinds of ranks.

I've been posting on the forums but reading a book is a good idea too 😄
