  • I farm and troll around with them. Unless they use a bright hair cosmetic and tbag because they saw No0b3 do it, then they could die.

I don’t care if they’re new or old, if they unhook while I’m 1 foot from the hook I’ll make them regret it.

And then what would happen with killers that always come into the game "Sweaty"? Would not changes be to strong to a killer player who always uses every trick in the book?

Frankly, if you don't care enough to always use every trick at your disposal, you don't deserve to win. So I fail to see a problem. I mean, if you don't care enough to put out the effort, why do you care about winning?

Using every trick in the book includes tunneling, slugging and camping. Some killers don’t want to do that and extend the match to make it a little more fun. Not every killer can zoom across a map like Billy or Spirit. Some killers want to make the game fun for everyone.

In the end, all the large maps need to be reworked, but since that is going to take a long time to happen, there should be something else that slows the game a little bit. A killer getting into one short chase at the start of a map and having three gens pop isn’t fun for the killer, it will just pressure them more to get a kill faster. They don’t really have many options unless they are pro mind gamers or have anti loop abilities.

gotta be balanced though. How about Object of Obsession for minute. Blendettes will go to the psych ward. Toxic Survivors get a free 5th perk and don't even know what a gen is.

I was only being silly with them sticking out like a sore thumb. But I do like the idea of the lunar event glow.

You know sometimes when I have a bad match and doors get powered, I go down to basement and just pretend to go afk, because survivors can be cocky little bumholes lol you know at least 1 or 2 will come and run around you when your not moving, but yes I'll go basement and stand near chest, wont directly look at it but leave myself enough space to grab them from chest when they dare to try open it 😂😂😂 😂😂 i always hook them, but I will let them get unhooked and leave. I just do it to make myself feel better about a bad match, as it always makes me chuckle when they think I'm not by my control and I'm not going to dc because what's the point of losing my blood points, 😍😍 I want my bloodpoints

This strategy is even more fun if you have Noed active.

  • There was evidence of a killer that had this power being worked on. Recently, I watched a video explaining how the new Lerys Map had parts of windows that looked like they were designed to be destroyed. So maybe?

I would think it would be pretty OP against survivors though, destroying one of their main ways to survive, so devs would have to rework every single map, and limit the amount of times a killer uses their power in a match.

Um, he said he made the save, then killer stood on the stairs. Sounds like they were both standing, and killer body blocked the stairs. The stairs are literally the only way out of the house.

Thanks for pointing that out. But still, not enough info. Was there a gen they could have worked on? After making the save, did they remain unharmed when they got blocked in or did the killer slug them and hook one again? Was there an uncompleted gen they could have worked on?

Im not siding with the killer, I’m just pointing out what holding the game hostage is, and that we need more information.

  • Dead Hard isn’t really a problem, it’s more like an annoyance and you could usually just bait it out of most of them.

Of all the survivor perks, it’s not that terrible. A more pressing perk to look at is DS, a perk that should deactivate if the user gets fully healed or if the killer hooked someone else.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1031738#Comment_1031738

I may be misinterpreting OP, but it seems like spirit stood on the stairs preventing them from leaving the house. Which is the same as body blocking someone in a room.

There isn’t enough information. We’re they both slugged? Was there a gen upstairs that he could have worked on?

If one was on the hook, and the other slugged, they weren’t held hostage. They were bait. They would have died eventually and the game would have ended.

If they both were not slugged, or hooked, and they had no way out of the second floor, then they were held hostage.

Most likely at least one was hooked, and the rescuer got slugged.

  • @xllxENIGMAxllx said:

I've was playing a game with my SwF the map was Thompson. when a friend was downed the spirit picked him up then put him at top of thompson house then go away. I told my team that i go save him and then once i've saved him the spirit came back and block the stairs. With no way to escape we had to DC's.

I've reported him i hope you will do something about and fix the bad map design with it too.

You weren’t taken hostage, you fell for the bait. Your team could have just rushes the gens, which are very easy to do now, and let your friend die for the sake of the team.

Holding the game hostage is when the killer prevents you from doing anything and you can’t complete objectives. An example of being held hostage is getting body blocked in a room or corner by the killer and the only option you have for the game to end is to DC.

If your friend was slugged, they would have bled out. If they were on the hook, they would have died, therefore the match wasn’t held hostage.

Does it suck that they camped, yea, but devs set the rules, and with how fast the game goes these days, I can’t blame killers who choose to.

  • @Calisto_667 said:

Terrible idea. Everyone acts as if our stuff never gets nerfed. DS is practically useless at this point and people still want it to be nerfed. Adrenaline does not need a nerf.

Would you mind explaining to me why you consider DS to be useless?

  • Just go hide in the basement. Game isn’t worth going blind over. Play insidious bubba and wait for them to come loot the basement chest.

  • @Rivyn said:

I don't think anybody has said it. But it worked for survivors against Spirit and Freddy, right?

    This.

Devs haven’t discouraged Survivors from DC’ing when faced with anything they don’t like, why not return the favor? It got the devs to introduce perks like DS, BT, and BBQ as well as nerfing Killer perks and powers like the Nurse and the Doctors Snap Out of it.

I won’t DC from a match because I don’t want to end up with zero bps, but if it is so obvious that I have no chance, I’ll just walk to the basement.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1030613#Comment_1030613

Your way of thinking is backasswards. Perks that are hex perks are designed in such a way that they would be too powerful for survivors if there wasn't some way to counter them. If a killer gets Devour Hope to 5 tokens then it's GG. But providing survivors with a way to counter the perk is what allows the perk to exist in the first place! If the choice is Devour Hope is a hex perk or no Devour Hope at all then I'd definitely choose hex perk.

And let's be real here. Destroying an active hex totem isn't really a choice for survivors. Like I said, not cleansing the totem will surely lead to a loss otherwise the perk wouldn't be a hex perk to begin with. Obviously H:ToTH and Haunted Grounds are exceptions. But even Hex: Third Seal would be beyond broken if it wasn't a hex perk. If the choice amounts to "damned if you do and damned if you don't" then that isn't really a choice.

I get the feeling that this thread and all the killer whining in it is based on the Hex: Ruin change. I'm not even going to call it a nerf since that is an oversimplification. There is a lot of angst on these forums lately and I have to wonder how many players actually made the effort to adjust to the change before losing their minds.

So trying to figure out ways to slow the game down without having players play sweaty is “backasswards”. I’m not asking to make lit totems life threatening to the cleanser, but rather involve a little more risk. Them glowing like they did during the lunar festival seems like a decent idea, and survivors didn’t seem too troubled by it in the videos I’ve seen.

Survivors have would have multiple options, to cleanse, not cleanse, make sure the killer is in a chase or not near by and then cleanse. They could also get better at leading a chase and looping a killer.

Instead of insulting my intelligence , how about you come up with some ideas that may make the game more enjoyable for everyone?

And no, the nerf to Ruin isn’t the main reason why people are complaining. People are complaining because now that Ruin is gone, people are realizing how broken the game is for a lot of killers. Ruin was just a bandaid that covered up the terrible ranking, matchmaking and map design.

If the Devs reworked the maps to be more balanced for all killers before destroying Ruin, you wouldn’t see all the complaints that you see now.

Imagine if the Devs completely reworked Decisive Strike to only work at the start of a matchand reduce its stun timer, what would the reaction from Survivors be? I’m pretty sure the forums would be set on fire.

Or they could just take out the option to leave, making it slightly more complicated to leave and more inconvenient than pause, press Y.

There are 2 types of coders. Those who think of a way more complicated way and those who find the simplest solution.

On the other hand, we all know if DCs weren't an option. Survivors will just commit suicide and killers....well I guess can hide in a corner or the basement.

There is always Alt+F4. Devs can’t force people to remain in matches they no longer find fun. It’s the nature of online gaming. People will just have to accept that fact.

DC punishments wouldn’t t do much anyways. If they punish for too long, DCers would just stop playing, if the punishment is too short, people that are left with a person short will want to stop playing if it keeps happening.

Instead, the Devs need to brainstorm and come up with ways to make it more fun for both sides. They also need to fix the plethora of bugs in the game, and optimize the console versions.

Yeah it sucks that its behind a paywall or you can wait the 2 times a year its on the shrine. The time saved farming bloodpoints is the only reason why purchased Leatherface. I have all the licensed killers besides Demo that I purchased before patch 3.5.0. I would not have made the purchases if I had know how patch 3.5.0 was going to turn out and what the devs intentions are for killers. If you plan to stay with the game, he is the only licensed package I would recommend spending actual money on simply for BBQ alone. It cuts the grind down immensely for both killers and survivors. Outside of BBQ, leatherface is just a meme killer so know you really are only pay $5 for one perk, maybe two if you like Franklins, which I do.

I may break down and get him, but I’m starting to feel the early signs of burnout from this game. I played so much survivor in the last two months that I can only handle one or two matches. Also, the thrill of playing is now gone. I no longer get the rush of adrenaline that I did when I first started (Except for when Sir Michael teleports in-front of me and makes me pee a little).

I enjoyed killer for a bit but it’s been getting stressful with how bad matchmaking is. It doesn’t seem like there will be much of a fix coming to it any time soon.

Now with the destruction of Ruin, I can’t keep up in most matches unless I tunnel and slug. I don’t want to have to do that but there isn’t much I can do. I don’t have BBQ, I don’t play highly mobile killers and I don’t make enough bloodpoints to max out all my killers to unlock their perks in a reasonable time. I shouldn’t have to work so hard to make the game more enjoyable.

Memeing around has been fun though, I may just stick around to do that. Someone suggested to just guard the basement chest and only attack when they attempt to open it. I would like franklins demise so I could do what I watched a piggy do on YouTube. She chased Monto around until she got him to drop his purple flashlight, sat on it so he wouldn’t get it and then dc’d.

  • I love her squeals of pain almost as much as I love Amanda’s.

Oh man, you are missing out. BBQ is mandatory for the grind. Unless you have all the perks and addons you want or killers/survivors to p3, BBQ is just to good to not run. The actual perks use is powerful on a good number of killers but its the bloodpoints is why i run it. I want my 4 stacks everygame. 25-32k average before bbq with no offerings turns into 50-64k then 75k-96k with BPS or 100% solo offerings.

I main Hag, but play Freddy and Oni a fair amount. Both Hag and Freddy are strong for maxing each quadrant for scoring. Oni you have to make sure to use his skill and collect blood orbs for devious. Ive only level plague to 40 and use her only for dailys but ive heard she is harder to farm bloodpoint with due to her skill not stacking points as easily. Like every phantasm attack on Hag is 500 points to devious, traps triggering are 200 points. Wraith is another good one if you land attacks after coming out of cloak.

I wish I had BBQ, I don’t own Leatherface and don’t plan to purchase any more killers with money for a while. At least until they make it less stressful and have all maps reduced in size.

I’ll pray it shows up in the shrine soon.

  • So I could play DbD while I wait for Dbd. So many options, so little time.

  • @illusion said:

I'm far less concerned with lobby dodging that I am with survivors DC'ing constantly.

Yesterday, we loaded into Lery's and Doc was the killer. Immediately, 3 of my teammates DC'd. I just ran to the exit to open the gate. Doc saw me and shocked me about a dozen times, but let me go. Both of us got screwed over. After the match he told me that he was new to playing the Doctor and was just trying to complete a challenge.

If 1 person DCs I usually let the rest of the team farm as long as none of them weren't toxic.

  • It will probably get worse, maybe play Clash Royale on your phone while you wait?

  • And the Devs thought destroying Ruin was more important than working on Matchmaking over the last two months.

  • @Johnble said:

We'll be mad at YOU because YOU control how you play. If you don't like it, find a different game, instead of using what the devs are doing to justify being a dick to other people that paid for the game just like you did.

Devs allow both roles to lobby dodge. If a survivor doesn't like how their teammates look, or the items they bring, they can leave. If you don't like it, ask them to remove the option. Killers paid for the game as well, and they should be able to play how they like as long as it falls within the parameter of rules that the Devs set.

Also, it isn't a dick move to lobby dodge, the dick move is what Survivors do- DCing the second they see something they don't like, such as a hidden offering, seeing it is a killer they don't like, or getting hit not long after the match starts. Heck, many survivors DC'd just to spite killers and prevent them from completing the rift challenges- especially the basement challenge.

It's not like killers have much of an option anymore, it's obvious their issues are not much of a priority.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1030585#Comment_1030585

Why should the survivor be punished in any way for a choice the killer made before the game even started? Any killer that brings a hex perk into the match knows the risks. There are a multitude of perk choices that aren't hexes.

Because the game is going by too fast for most Killers to play without being sweaty. Survivors and their constant DCing and complaining resulted in making matches faster. Killers need something to help slow down the game. Something like this is better than slowing down gen repair speed.

Besides, you don't "have to" get punished, you're making a choice, to cleanse or not to cleanse.

  • What if it is a baby Dweet whose sole reason of joining a match is to put on a twerk show for you and the killer? He knows hes thicc and he likes to showcase it.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1030553#Comment_1030553

Maybe that is an idea for a killer perk. But it certainly shouldn't be the default.

Why not? It will help slow the game down a little bit and it's better than increasing gen repair times. The game is supposed to involve risk, so cleansing totems, which effectively neuter killers for the rest of the match, should have a little risk. It's not like I suggested that the totem explode and you get injured or put in the dying state (though if that ever happened as a glitch, it would be funny).

I'm not asking for the glow effect to last the rest of the match, but for something like 30-45 seconds should be fine.

  • Just slug, it's surprisingly effective. Use perks like knock out and deer stalker to help you keep track and keep the survivors on their toes. It may be boring, but this is what we have to work with lately.

Not sure if you were around for last year's Chinese new year with the lanterns that made Survivors sparkle. That might be an interesting thing.

    I wasn't. I started when in October 2019, when all the fun events were announced to be discontinued ;_;

I've been watching old game play videos of things going wrong and have noticed how Survivors light up during that event, seems like it could be implemented as a risk factor into totems.

Different topic, but I want the Killer T-pose glitch back. I'd love to hover around like that for a match or two with my Trapper.

  • Botany

I was like I don't need to heal faster, I just need to hide better- This was when I first started the game and thought Claudettes Blending Powers hid me in plain sight. Didn't realize how loud survivors are until I played killer. Same with scratch marks and blood stains. It's amazing how much you could learn by playing the other role for a bit.

It's really good to speed up teammate healing.

  • Yea, its nice to let you know that someone is watching you while you set traps.

It's really nice on Wraith as well. Lets me know to not waste my time looking for survivors when it isn't lit up.

  • Survivors that cleans a lit totem should have a burn animation (their body would glow like a bright candle) for the rest of the match. They should look stick out like a sore thumb! Would be glorious.

My point was you can't complain when one side does it and not the other.

Which was also my point to the OP. Don’t ask killers to stop lobby dodging without asking survivors to stop dcing when they’re faced with something they don’t like.

So you get the option to nope out of the match based on information. Survivors don't get similar information and you think it's unfair for them to decide their out. Double standard much? I'm not condoning DC's but you're doing exactly what they are. Just a bit earlier.

You can’t complain about Killers lobby dodging when they see items that they don’t like to deal with when Survivors dc while the match is loading when they see a hidden offering.

Both sides avoid facing things they don’t like, it’s not the players job to put up with it for the sake of their opponents fun, it is the job for the Developers to make the game fun.

There was no need for this thread in the first place. The thread should have been requesting the developers to make the game more enjoyable so there would be less lobby dodging and less dcing. Not asking people to “put up” with unfun matches.

Swf should be the baseline, not the overperformer. Hexes work relatively the same for swf and solos, except for noed.

Then the whole game should be reworked from the ground up. And no, it’s not the same for SWF and hexes, SWF get an extra advantage over the killers when it comes to all totems.

You just need to be honest and admit that you just want the game to be easier for you. That’s the only reason why anyone would ask for a totem counter, to make the match easy and to be sure you can effectively neuter the killer you’re facing. Without the counter, you can’t be sure, making the match a bit more difficult.

  • @Peanits said:

Yes, I'm not saying people can't, but politely asking for them not to, don't get me wrong, me and my SWF at red ranks are doing things like leaving gens untouched for the first 30+ seconds of the game and just going for chests and totems to help the perception of "gen rushing", I'm trying to help this game as much as I can whyle having fun in the way, and as killer I don't dodge, don't DC, I don't loose often, but if I do I just take the L without winning about it

That’s the the problem, it is not the job of the player to make sure the opponent is having fun, it’s the Developers job to do that. If Killers are not having fun against items like toolboxes and keys, then the developers need to look into it. No one should settle to only have some fun, nor should the opponent change how they play.

It’s the same for survivors, if they don’t have fun against certain killers, the Devs need to do their job and make it more fun. They did just that with the Doctor and Nurse and the removal of Ruin (What we have now isn’t Ruin, it’s poo poo). Survivor DCs is probably what led them to change everything I mentioned, so rather than Lobby Dodging, maybe Killers should enter a match and then DC and the Devs could then make it more fun for killers.

  • I’m pretty sure it has, just don’t expect it to get fixed as fast as the basement glitch was.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO SAY IT. IT WON'T BENEFIT SWF. I'LL SAY IT AGAIN. IT WON'T BENEFIT SWF. Solos are a breeze, swf is hard mode.

My goodness, this post shows two things, one you have no patience to converse like a normal adult and two you are extremely dense.

Solo Survivors do not deserve to be buffed at the expense of a Killers play experience. As The_Bootie_Gorgon has stated, a hex counter would just make Hex totems obsolete.

Hex totems are high risk/high reward perks, implementing a totem counter would just make it easier for Solos and harder for Killers. Why should Killers suffer to make it easier for Survivors? They already suffer with having to pressure the generators against 4 opponents.

You want a totem counter? Sure, only if it’s a perk so survivors can only run with three perks after all totems are cleansed. Then maybe you guys can experience how fun it is for killers to play with three perks for most of the match.

Buffing Solo Survivors to be on par with SWF should not come at the expense of a Killer Players experience.

@AvisDeene I'm starting to wonder about that, myself. If I recall, a week or so ago someone posted a thread about one of the Devs asking in the Discord how people would feel if matchmaking no longer considered ranks and just tossed everyone together.

People talk about the 20k-30k players DbD consistently has on Steam. Yes, it puts DbD in the Top 20 for Steam, but considering those are global numbers, not just a specific region, they aren't that great when discussing a PvP game that must also create matches based on region and also within certain rank parameters.

I just don't think they have the player base to effectively make matches across a range of rank brackets. At this point, I would remove the rank and emblem system entirely, and just award BP for the match.

Yup, I don’t think they could do much to improve the situation. It is what it is, the only option players have is to put up with it, get better or play a different game.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1028749#Comment_1028749

Why else are you against totem counter? It would only benefit solos and not affect swf at all.

I am against it because it will give survivors an advantage over Killers.

You want to buff solo, fine, just not at the expense of killers.

Hex perks rely on survivors not being sure on how many totems have been cleansed. They are already a large risk for killers to use, they don’t need to be watered down any more by giving survivors more information about them.

  • Nope, I will dodge all lobbies that have two or more toolboxes.

I will keep dodging lobbies until survivor stop dcing at the start of a match when they see it’s a killer they don’t like or when they stop dcing because I downed them first.
