I don't really dislike Tinkerer for its strength, but more for its hand-holdiness.

Want to find survivors but don't want to actually look? Just go here! Gens getting done and you're not sure which ones? Just go here! Need to think about where you want to use Pop? No need, just go here!

Want to go on Autopilot? Slap on RuinDying and just go here, it plays itself!

Basically this. You dont need any Map Awareness with Tinkerer, you just get the information.

With Ruin and old Undying, Tinkerer was the problematic Perk out of those 3 IMO - it was a "free pressure" sign, because every Killer can go to a Gen, as long as only 1 Survivor is on it. High Mobility Killers made it to every Gen nearly all of the time.

Like, when I prestiged Blight, I got lucky and had Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer and I won all of my games with a Killer I am not familiar with, who is really hard to learn.

BUT I dont think that they will tone down Tinkerer anytime soon, the Perk only got buffed quite recently and before it was too weak.

My guess is that the recording/streaming process is part of the problem. I have a 1070 and don't usually experience problems. On the rare occasions that I do, the devs put out a patch that fixes them and that's the end of it.

Part of the problem, but not an explanation. Others have problems too while not recording. At least on PC. On Console it is even more of an issue, but it is common knowledge that the game is not optimized on Console.

    @NomiNomad said:

You'd think with how much of the player-base is either on console or lower to medium-end hardware, BHVR would care more.

As a former console player, I understand your pain.

Agreed. Another game I played a lot in the past (World of Tanks) had really good support for Low-End PCs. You are able to play this game on a Potato-PC without much issues, while still looking amazing on decent PCs. Like, no comparison to DBD.

(I am also quite sure that the system requirements on Steam are not correct anymore)

  • I dont know what causes the problems, but it seems pretty random.

Like, currently I have a 1050 TI, playing on Medium and I never experience any Framedrops. I had Framedrops on high and Ultra, but this probably because the GPU is not really good.

Before the 1050 TI I had a 1070 TI, which is compareable to Scotts 1080 TI and I never had any problems on Ultra.

So I am not sure if it is something regarding the GPUs. It really looks random, people (like COntent Creators) with really good Hardware experience it, while others dont.

  • All this time spent on this Post over a Perk which will most likely not even be used that much...

so if overheat doesn't do anything, why keep it in the game? it just serves to take away potentially fun addons wasted on a really boring mechanic

    just scrap it

It will not be scrapped. So why putting energy into writing it should be scrapped?

MMR will be terrible, nobody wants it, still it will be released.

Breakable Walls are poorly excecuted, nobody likes them, still they are added to every Map.

And Overheat is pointless, still, the Devs worked on it.

All stuff which will stay in the game, once they have worked on it, it will stay.

I disagree on the Add Ons tho. Hillbilly does not need Add Ons to begin with and I rather have Add Ons which are not really useful than those who buff aspects like Chargetime or Cooldown, because those were problematic. And I dont really want those to return.

  • @yeet said:

the overheat has no place and was added just because they ran out of addon ideas, i'd rather they remove this boring, pointless mechanic that only serves to make the killer less fun and come up with some actual addons

people who defend overheat make me sick

I dont care about Overheat at all. I almost never Overheat - the last time I overheat in an actual game was when I tried way too hard to chainsaw a Survivor and I got punished for playing bad at this case.

The other instances of overheating happened during one of the MMR-tests where I went against Baby Survivors the whole time and decided to just go for long-range snipes with the Steering Add-Ons (does not really work against Baby Survivors, they are hiding the whole time while they hear the Chainsaw..).

So, I could not care less for Overheat, it really does not affect me. And I am far away from playing as a M1lly.

  • @TheMadCat said:

It didn't happen yet to me and it's 11:34 AM where I live.

    Try restarting the game?

Its 11:45 here (so same timezone) and I just logged in and my Rank got reset. (Sadly the correct Rank, it was fun to have more to do to get back to Rank 1)

  • I agree. It should be possible to mix&match in the Store to see how certain Pieces work together.

Also, there should be a first person view for Killers, since this is what most of the Killers will see the majority of the time. E.g. Onis weapon with the face attached, it looks cool, but not everyone wants to look into nostrils the whole game and so they see it before purchasing.

  • Eh, I hope they never consider it.

First of all, this would only work for Killer. They are first-person. As Survivor, VR would not work, first person would be looking into a Gen for a long time, which is boring.

Then... I dont think it is a pleasant experience. Like, countering a 360? Oof. Getting hit by a Pallet with the Screen shaking to the ground and up in a short time will also not be really enjoyable.

And last but not least, the theme of the game - you are running around, murdering people in first person AND VR. I dont know where you live, but here videogames have a reputation to be responsible for everything bad that happens. Like, there is a gun rampage? Oh, and the guy played Counterstrike? Yeah, thats the reason.

It got better over the years, but still, if something like this happens in my country (luckily it is very rare), there are always people who want to blame videgames for it. And I dont really want to see DBD as the next game which will be a target for it. If the media is bored something like a game where you play a supernatural Killer to murder people will easily be a topic to abuse.

Cranky cause you got outplayed with bamboozle?

How the hell does someone outplay with Bamboozle? Bamboozle is just "I dont know how to run tiles, so I just block the Window" and nothing more.

    @Topic:

Bamboozle needs exactly 1 Nerf - increase the Audio of the Entity Blocker. This was buffed a few months ago, the range was reduced for no real reason. It should not be possible that the Survivor does not hear that the window just got blocked by Bamboozle.

Other than that, I dont think it is really a problematic Perk. The only problem is that it got introduced as a band-aid against god Loops, however, it also can used on Loops where the Killer can outplay the Survivor via Mindgaming so were Bamboozle is not needed. And since Godloops dont really exist anymore (those were you have to run the Window 3 times without any chance of mindgaming the Survivor), Bamboozle does not really need to exist.

However, I dont think it is a problem.

  • Things I wish for Billy:

    • The Roar should play all the time when he is using his Chainsaw (No, seriously, I would be happy if they would remove it...)
    • Engravings have a third effect of reducing Overheat gained by using the Chainsaw, this to make Double Engravings useable again. The Overheat-Mechanic in itself is fine, you rarely overheat as long as you are not trying to go for every impossible Chainsaw, but especially with Double Engravings (which is one of the most skillful ways to play Billy), you overheat way too fast. So the Engravings should have an effect to reduce the Overheat.
    • Rework his animations again. Seriously, he does not feel like before (even before they nerfed him). This is my biggest flaw, the animations are really horrible.
  • Currently I think he is fine, except for some Add-Ons. Now that you dont need Windstorm anymore you see other strong Add-Ons way more often - mainly the purple All-Seeing and the SIlent Bell. While I am borderline ok with the Silent Bell (it is an Iridescent, after all and his other Iri Add-On is not that great), All-Seeing should really be nerfed.

It was alright when Wraith had to sacrifice a Slot for Windstorm OR went for the Aura-Read, sacrificing the potential Speed Increase, but he should not get almost purple Windstorm at Base AND have access to All-Seeing in its current form.

  • @PubStar87 said:

Then !$#@ing lower my mmr bhvr. These death squad after death squad matches are ridiculous.

I can guarantee you that you dont go against multiple Deathsquads in a row. They are so rare, it is even more likely that you never faced one.

You are most likely losing to casual SWFs or Solos. But certainly not Deathsquads.

  • I have an example of a Wraith-player I played against when Moris were still able to kill after 1 Hooks:

He invested 20k BPs (Ebony Mori, Silent Bell, All-Seeing) and earned 19k BPs, making it 38k with BBQ. He did not get more than 4 Hooks and camped every Hook and tunneled the respective Person to mori them. (For the first two Survivors, my friend and myself died to NOED after all Gens were done)

And yes, 19k BPs is too much for this playstyle, even making 18k BPs profit with that Loadout due to BBQ is not right.

  • I honestly hope this is the last time we heard anything from MMR other than "We came to the conclusion to cancel it and are working on another system".

  • I have played two Nurse games just now:

1st game was against a bunch of new Survivors (and a Rank 3)... they did not have a chance.

2nd game was also pretty dominant from my side, BUT I went against 2 Red Ranks, 1 purple Rank and 1 green Rank, neither of them were new. And, 3 of them had a Breakout/Sabotage-Build, so I assume those were not new, but boosted into their Ranks, so that I got them as opponents.

And IMO the second game was more fitting.

I am thinking of the new players that are about to enter the game...if they get gen rushed after rising in ranks to even a green rank do you really think they will stick around?

New players wont learn anything with NOED, especially not build-in. NOED gives 4% Speedboost on top of the Instadown, this makes the general Loops pretty laughable. So they dont learn how to run those Tiles, because in the Endgame, they get their free Speedboost and dont need to mindgame at all.

Try to get killer adepts right now without gen rush regression perks on large maps or just regular matches at higher ranks without gen regression...tell me how well you do😎

In fact, I got some a few weeks ago: Pig, Doctor, Wraih, Clown, Huntress, Nurse and Hag. Obviously some strong Killers there.

And when it comes to Adepts, while those are a little bit too hard currently (mainly because it gets artificially harder in Red Ranks because of the Requirements), those should be challenging.

And not every game is Adept, so players have their full Loadout AND get Training Wheels for free aka built-in NOED? Or a free Perk Slot when they used NOED before? Nah, really, that is too much.

  • This Matchmaking looks more fair than the "old" Matchmaking were Ranks are used.

You play a quite strong Killer with 4 Perks, all teachable from other Killers and run two very strong Add Ons (All Seeing and Swift Hunt). It would be less fair to pair you against Rank 17-Survivors who are actually new to the game.

  • @GannTM said:

I agree that survivors should have another objective other than gens but I don’t think this is the way to do it unless you give a base kit totem counter.

Even with a Totem Counter, it should at least be an interesting Objective. And not more M1-holding.

  • So the training wheels for free for the Killer?

    No.

  • I agree. Sometimes you hear his breathing before his Terror Radius when he is using M&A. Using M&A is just logical on him, I am doing it myself - but I dont really get why Huntress got a big Lullaby and Deathslinger is the stealthiest guy ever.

Especially because his Terror Radius is so weird, I guess it gives him another 2-4m of stealth.

So then people can be mad that I'm playing a good killer using a perk to cover the possibilitie of a perk thhat removes the killers only way of trackin?

Only way of tracking? Footsteps, grass moving... Like, I play Spirit without Stridor and I am doing fine.

And dont pretend that you care about Survivors complaining.

  • If you have problems with Iron Will, equip Stridor. Easy as that.

That or actually buffing the shitload of useless perks in the game

Doubt that this will happen - look at Lucky Break. It MIGHT have become Meta, but the Devs were scared and it is a Perk which is not used again.

The Devs need to be more brave on that one, the goal should be that more Perks are actually worth using.

  • Saw it multiple times. But only since they reworked the Map.

  • Cannot say for sure at this point. I will bring him to P3-50 with all Perks, like every other Killer. And probably play him when I am in the mood to play him, but it all depends how he is played on the Live Servers. If I dont enjoy the gameplay, I will only max him out, if I like the gameplay, I will play him.

But I doubt I will main him, I have way too much fun with Demo or Pig to drop one of them.

  • This is not really anything about Pig IMO. I would also not compare Pig and Deathslinger.

But I dont really understand why Huntress gets a big Lullaby and Deathslinger is basically the stealthiest guy ever. It is not only his low TR which pairs with M&A and results in a Terror Radius lower than his shooting range, but also that his Terror Radius is so weird that he probably gets an extra 2-4 meters of Stealth.

It kinda went the way you describr when they tested mmr in the past. I remember endlessly getting brown ranks with my main killers. And I know matchmaking wasn't rank based, but brown ranks meant real beginners (few perks, not leveled up, often under 100h) matched against a rank 1 killer main with 1.5k hours iirc back then.

Then I played killers I hadn't touched in months and it gave me the sweatiest survivors.

Yes, this was my experience with the first MMR-Test as well. Trying Nurse? Full Rank 1-Team, 3 man SWF and a Solo. Playing Billy who I play a lot? Bill, 0,0 hours, probably his first game of DBD (like, really, he had 0,0 hours...).

And regarding Billy back then, I played so many games with him and tried everything - going for M1-only, Speed Limiter... but it did not get better, the 0,0-hour guy was around the end of the test.

And the worst thing for me is - you have to stomp those Survivors. The system should realize that you are in the wrong range and so you have to play as good as possible to get out of it into fair matches.

Dont forget that hours for PS4 and PS5 are seperated (if you play on Playstation)

I mean, I cannot see the hours of Console-players anyway.

(And yes, hours might also not be a good way to check if MMR is working, but if I play against a non-Smurf with 11 hours, I can play basically every Killer without using their ability to win (except maybe Nurse))

Sucks for these survivors and killers that are at bottom level since most of us with thousands of hours (at least me personally and some others ive seen) went in with the best addons and playstyle thinking we'd need to bring our best. Just for us to decimate these unlucky people.

Yeah, it is strange. Like, the Deathslinger- and Nurse-game were alright, especially the Nurse-game I got quite weak Survivors. But for Billy and Demo the Survivors were far worse.

Curious to see how it will be at the end of the test, but so far, it does not look like it is working. Which is a shame, considering they worked on it for so long. (And if it does not work now, questionable if they should put time into it... IMO the system based on Ranks is alright, the Rank Reset just needs to be bigger and it needs some finetuning so that Killers and Survivors dont rank up so easily).

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2257093#Comment_2257093

But it can´t be both. It can´t provide easy killer matches, while also providing easy survivor matches.

Apparently it is possible, reading from other responses here in the Thread.

The one Survivor game I had so far was against a good Nurse, so this was alright.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2257033#Comment_2257033

But how were your survivor matches?

Mine were pretty chill. 3 and 4 man escapes in all 5 matches. Even got my Jeff achievement.

I only played Killer so far.

But again, Demo, which I probably main at this point (played him so much):

easy 4K, they had no chance at all. Rainbow-Ranks ofcourse, but even the hours dont match up:

I have 6000 hours, they had 104, 47 and 11 hours and the last profile was private. Hours are not everything and it will be impossible to make a working matchmaking which also calculates hours, but there is no possibility that someone with 11 hours can have a chance against someone with 6000 hours.

Killer is not really fun this way, there is no challenge.

EDIT: And this is not about Survivor or Killer. If you have this Survivor-experience it also shows that MMR is not working.

  • I made 3 games so far with MMR:

Deathslinger-->I played him on and off the last weeks, I am not really good with him. Got a 4K, at some point it looked like the Survivors were too good for me, but I think they were slightly too weak in the end.

Nurse-->I am terrible as Nurse. I got quite good Matchmaking here, they were not really good, got a 2K in the end.

Billy-->My "ultimate" test, I am quite decent with Billy and played him a lot the last weeks because I am getting back to him and he needed all Perks again. I got Baby Survivors, like always when MMR-tests were out and I played Billy. The first test I got like 20 or 30 4Ks in a row with 12 Hooks (or as many as allowed until they DCed..), always against Baby Survivors.

And I fear this would be the case.

So I am not really sure if it is working or not, the Deathslinger- and Nurse-game were alright, but Billy was a mess.

  • The thing is, I will never use it.

I really wish they would make his Alternative Head (with the Beard) Basekit. This looks so much better IMO. And I think this is the common opinion, I see way more people using the alternative Head-Cosmetic.

  • Yes, on Low the game is brighter. Which should be fixed if possible, there should not be a gameplay-advantage via Settings.

However, I play on Medium. I used to play on Ultra, but my GPU died a few months ago and the one I got is a lot worse, so I am stuck on Medium until I either become rich or GPU-prices become more reasonable (which will most likely not happen before the end of 2022 I guess).

  • I got both in my second game in Red Ranks. The MacMillans Mastery is the easier one, played Doctor with double Calm Add-Ons and Devour as 4th Perk on Midwich. Worked for me.

So its not like they are super-hard... Even tho, I was probably lucky with the Trapper-Challenge being done in only two games.

If you dont like it why do you comment it’s a public forum people use it how they like.

and they was good all Red ranks working as a unit against me they knew what they was doing and legacy are the LG players so that has got to count for skill

Just saying, it reads quite funny. "Dear Diary, today I killed Survivors...".

But while it is true that the accounts of Legacy-players are old, it does not really mean that they are skillful. Some only play occasionally, especially during events you see those who only play for the events, but have Legacy, because they used to play DBD a lot.

And even if they are playing for a long time, at some point you reach your maximum. Someone can play 10k hours but reached their maximum at 2k hours, so they will not really improve from that point onwards.

(All of course if they are legit Legacy-owners...)

  • Is this forum your diary? This is at least the 4th thread like this I have seen from you.

And well, Legacy does not mean that they are good tbh.

    Oh damn,didn't think about it.

I hope they will do something like 1 Cake + Anniversary Item per level 50 Bloodweb for survivors

Yes. I hoped something like this last year as well, I want 1 of each on every Survivor, but mainly I want Cakes. And it was kinda annoying to do like 2 or 3 Bloodwebs for 1 Cake last year. :/

  • Yes. I dont have many BPs saved in the Tome, because I am actually leveling up my Characters all the time.

Before the RE-Chapter releases, I will save up 1 Million BPs and some Dailies. Before the event, I want to bring Leon and Jill to P3 at least and if possible, Nemesis as well.

The rest of the grind will be done with Cakes, but I fear that Survivors will once again get less Cakes than Killers (especially because there will be another Anniversary Item, meaning that the odds might be lower... Last year it was already 1 Cake at max per Bloodweb while Killers got around 2-3 in every Bloodyweb..).

    • Play both sides each day. The first game with each side gives 300 extra XPs, which help to level up.
    • Play the side with the lower queue times (like in EU: whole day Survivor, evening Killer)
    • As Killer you will get more XPs on average per game, because you stay longer in the game. You cannot die early, you always spend the maximum time in the trial.
  • Ruleset No. 2 as Basekit would be a bad idea. In most cases (like at least 98% of the time) the first thing Survivors do is to look for Jigsaw-Boxes, which provides Slowdown.

With Ruleset No. 2 you do not get this Slowdown, they do Gens. Especially when it is midgame, you can have people still pushing out Gens, because they cannot see the Boxes, which might lead to you losing the game.

In general, the Traps are not her only power and certainly her most boring one. IMO Headpops are not really satisfying, they are just RNG-Kills, nothing which is really earned. The Survivor was just unlucky. Or, you brought super-strong Add Ons like Tampered Timer and either a fifth Box or Crate of Gears. (Tampered Timer needs to go)

IMO Pig should have more love to her Crouch and Dash. Some Add Ons should be gone (as I said, Tampered Timer, also Exhaustion and Mangled because those just promote a tunneling playstyle)... Others need to be reworked because they are outdated, like Skillcheck-Odds or Skillcheck-Penalty.

So, more love to Crouch and Dash and a Add On-Rework is all Pig needs IMO. Granted, this comes from someone who player her A LOT.

  • @MrDardon said:

Following by the same logic then. Spirit and Nurse aren't broken, you just press M2.

What? Those have actual influence on the game. Teabagging does nothing to the Killer when it comes to gameplay.

Except they are easily triggered by that and throw a game to get a teabagger... Which is on the Killer not the teabagger then.

  • @Bumbus said:

Corrupt intervention should be basekit. Change my mind.

Hell no. It is a super-strong Perk, not OP by any means. But it is completely justified to use a Perk Slot for such a strong Perk.

It 100% should not be basekit.

    @Topic:

I would rather nerf every other Slowdown-Perk instead of Corrupt Intervention. It is fine, not too strong, really. Also, you are not forced to do nothing for two minutes.

Either you can do other Gens (there are still 4), or, if you are a 4 man SWF, you can wait out Corrupt Intervention, which means it is a wasted Perk Slot.

  • First of all, if EAC detects it and you get a ban because of it, BHVR will not help you with that.

    Second, two possible problems:

    • You can gain gameplay advantages - what would prevent me from changing every Cosmetic in the game into a bright pink cosmetic so that I can spot Survivors from miles away as Killer?
    • Second, licensed content - sure, it might look funny to give Michael a Clown-Thong to wear, but I doubt that license holders would like to see that. BHVR might get problems if license holders are not pleased when seeing some Outifts.

Other than that, yes, only you will see how the Cosmetics look.

  • @CashelP14 said:

It was a well made video. I never really thought about add-ons until I saw this video. Most killers have a tell to let you know what add-ons they're using.

I'm on the side that Spirit is literally a guessing game, outside of the competitive counterplay "rush gens while I waste everything immediately".

Bring back the phasing bug that a lot of people loved. Fixes so many problems with her.

    • Tell when she's phasing
    • Giving survivors a rough idea where she is during phasing

Says a lot when a killer gets her add-ons nerfed, and they still are broken lol

The thing is, when Spirit first got nerfed, only the most broken things were nerfed:

    • Prayer Beads
    • the Amulet which was basically Tuning Guide on crack
    • Lunge Add Ons which allowed to be on the wrong side of a Loop and still get a Hit in
    • missing Vault Animation (which was probably the biggest nonsense ever)
    • collision while phasing

And people said that Spirit would be dead after those Changes, and look where she is now - still the second-strongest Killer and still one of the most hated ones due to her lack of Counterplay.

I survived against a Spirit yesterday, because she did not have Stridor and her Perks indicated that she did not put that much time into Spirit. Still she got a 2K. And I know that some Content Creators even think that going against an inexperienced player is Counterplay (at least this what I took from one of the latest videos of one of those Content Creators..).

When it comes to her Add Ons, the big thing is that they are almost all good. Like, you dont have any Add Ons which have really many disadvantages, she has so many strong Add Ons. And I never thought about it that way, but they make her even more unpredictable.

In general, what you wrote "rough idea where she is during phasing"... This is the important part, a ROUGH idea. And this is what many people who are against a Spirit-Nerf dont understand, she should not be destroyed. But currently she gets all the information:

    • With Stridor sound-->While not making any sound while phasing (not even Footsteps anymore, or at least not really audible)
    • Moving grass-->While she does not move grass while phasing
    • Faking her power is a win-win ---> Either she fakes it and the Survivor makes the wrong read, or they make the right read and she can start phasing from this point. And again, there is exactly no indication when she starts phasing, yes, there might be an animation, but all videos I have seen showed this under lab conditions - a Survivor staring at a Spirit. No way to tell this reliable in a chase in a public game.

I really, really hope they make changes to Spirit and I am pretty sure that she still will be strong. But I hope they do it right this time and not another half-hearted Nerf which does not change any of the Key problems.

  • Around this amount, maybe even the next category.

I bought almost all DLCs with real money and I buy Cosmetics for my Main (Nea) all the time and for other Characters if I like them.

Still a good deal if I think about how much time I spent playing this game.

1 … 179 180 181 182 183 … 341
