I'm literally telling you that unless the killer is touching the survivor, the script won't trigger, thus they will still be stuck... (unless I'm reading the script wrong)Visionmaker said:@Avariku said:
1. if a killer keeps a survivor bodyblocked into the basement, this could be done without constant contact and would avoid triggering the detection.I think it's okay. At least people can't just head out to the movies and leave survivors stranded for two hours.
-
most of the derankers probably won't care about that "shame" so long as they get to bully newbies...
nuisance, penalty, whatever you want to call it... we have people deranking as it is, this seems like it would just give them another reason to do so.
also, if the survival rate is already below 50% a change like this is only going to drop that rate lower(and I know, I know, the stats were supposedly skewed, blah, blah, blah... I'm working with what I'm given.)
not to mention this change would only increase the gap between SWF and solo, which is the exact opposite of what we need to be doing. -
if you implement the code into the game then yes, you take care of the issue... sorta.
two things are still an issue as far as I can see.
1. if a killer keeps a survivor bodyblocked into the basement, this could be done without constant contact and would avoid triggering the detection.
and 2. why should we allow said killer to waste the survivors time like that, to even attempt such blatant intentional toxicity without any true penalties?
this game has enough toxic players as it is, if sifting through erroneous reports is what it takes to thin out the toxic herd, then so be it.... we will all be better off with fewer of them in our ranks. -
putting a rank limit on it would likely only encourage more deranking to avoid the obvious penalty.
-
I love the idea of the 4v4 snowball fight too. I really don't care how it got implemented, with a new mode or just throwing it as an "offering" or something... this would be amazing to me.
and I'm so glad you guys seem to like the idea, I honestly thought I was going to have to move states, change IP address, make a new account, and change my name after suggesting this. xD -
this already has more positive reactions than I expected.
and honestly, it's THAT sort of amusement I think would do the community good with how much hate there is going on lately. -
I would support that especially with all the profits they probably get from DLC and cosmetics... but at the same time... the game isn't terribly expensive as it is.
-
whaaaat? I enjoy getting mori'd... it makes me feel special! but yea, both sides have some serious entitlement issues, no denying that.
I still think Billy could use a slight nerf... and I mean SLIGHT. not sure what, but I do like that he is top tier and dont want him to lose that viability. -
I will say I don't care about getting slugged, but if the camping does get worse than it already is... I will absolutely drop this game without looking back.Master said:@MhhBurgers said:
With this patch I vow to only play insidious leatherface to camp the ######### out of ppl, it's not like the devs will be able to nerf facecamping more without all killers stopping to play the game.I will run slugging doc to protest

(I'm already facing campers on nearly 3/5 matches as it is on xbox. no point in watching a load screen for a game I won't even be able to play)
and before I get the usual "bye" "get out" "wont miss you" responses... just a reminder that this game needs survivors just as much as it needs killers. -
okay, fair enough, but I still want my small stature male... it's not fair... why are there no travel-sized male survivors, I'm stuck playing girls cause they're closer to my size. I feel sOoOoOoOo discriminated against. jkjkredsopine01 said:

@Onionthing
wouldn't that obliterate most "killer main" responses that survivors should just "git gud" while simultaneously saying the game is survivor sided or that survivors are OP.
(I swear I'm not stalking you, we're both just replying to very similar threads.)
*crouches into tall grass* -
@Onionthing Well said... won't argue with you there, but at the same time I don't feel something needs to be broken to THAT extreme of a level to warrant balance changes.
@Master
Obviously, yea, Billy is a bigger problem on consoles since Nurse is hard to control compared to mouse/keyboard.
with that said, Nurse doesn't have an instadown and I'm pretty sure that Billy's movement speed (special) is actually faster than hers over long distances since, without obstruction, he doesn't have a limit on how far he can travel. -
and anytime a killer main wants something to be nerfed survivor side should post a video of them running laps around the killer until all 5 gens are done and all totems broken with no injuries and 4 escapes, including one who decides to go for the hatch.Onionthing said:I think as a requirement, a survivor main asking for a particular killer to be nerfed, should post a video of them 4k-ing a group of survivors with that said killer, no gate, no hatch and 5 gens still active. THEN and only then will I pay attention. All i know is as a killer main, i still suck a billy and he is supposed to be EZ. (Spirit main, go figure...)
huh, well... that doesn't seem like it would be a very fair requirement, does it?
(I will agree that I'm not great with billy either, my best seems to be amanda and hag, maybe spirit) -
I will say that it also depends on the map with Billy... but at the same time, there are certain maps where he can go from one side of the map to the other in about 12 seconds. (completely just estimating on that time)
I'm sorry, but the only one who can come close to doing that is nurse and she doesn't have an insta-down... so what makes billy so special? -
I'm still waiting for the heavier/smaller male survivors too.
this game just perpetuates the impossible stereotypes for murder victims!!! xD

I disagree and you resort to insults? lmao.
you really are precious sometimes. You give very little information in the OP other than the fact that you played survivor some. It doesn't really give you much of a stance to take aside from the generally overused "git gud" response.
and even more amusing is that you continue to try and say there is no bias here while reaffirming the "survivors are OP" rhetoric, even if only through insinuation.
Why don't you take your own advice and stop complaining since I can easily turn your post around and mention that I have almost no problem playing killer and getting 3-4k per round when I want to.
and yes, that includes SWF, even if they do make me work harder for my meal. I could also point out that I do this with Amanda instead of the general top tier killers.
now, unlike you, I will provide context and point out that I do this in the rank 8-10 area, so my experience may not be the same as others.
but if you can't handle someone disagreeing with you or pointing out the flaws of your post without resorting to passive-aggressive insults, maybe you should avoid posting so you can preserve those delicate little feelings you have there. -
I actually would like to see more hiding spots. Only having lockers is kinda boring.
I'd love to see a table you could hide under, or maybe a piece of a false wall or something... the trade off would be that killers could destroy these hiding spots even if someone isn't using it and it would be gone, BUT if someone was hiding there it would just be an instant-down. -
right... so survivors have it hard because all survivors suck, but killers have it hard because the game is balanced towards survivors.
no bias here! xD -
if anything I want the ability to avoid specific players. There are so many idiots out there, survivor and killer alike, that I really wish I could just avoid entirely.
-
as some have mentioned, this information comes FREE for SWF and there is no compensation to killers for that information being given.
and as others have stated, we need to balance solo survivors up to SWF... that way the devs can balance killers against all survivors equally.
-
honestly I'd have to agree with the general consensus that it's a rank issue. The rank and matchmaking system that's currently implemented is not great and needs some tweaks.
Many of my survivor rounds go exactly the way you're describing and it usually boils down to my team. yes, I screw up sometimes, but when I spend half the round working on gens, breaking totems, and being interrupted to go make hook rescues, and wondering what the hell my team is up to while I'm busy being useful... Then I can't even pretend I might be the consistent problem.
but then again I'm on xbox, and when it comes to console, I can only assume that I'm "usually" playing with literal children survivors.
(the random occasional party invites have, so far, confirmed this theory) -
while I agree there needs to be a second objective... this would essentially be a nerf to survivors.
with survival rates already below 50%, this doesn't seem like a great idea. -
where exactly did I defend survivor behavior?
I actually thought I was pretty clear that there's toxic players on both sides of the field.
and one major reason that killers get more negative comments than survivors do is because there are four survivors and only one killer. This sets up a ratio that obviously contributes to that cumulative comment amount AND its a lot easier to call a killer out for bad behavior than survivor since there's four of them, it's easier to forget which name was the one that looped or which of the four (if not all four) that genrushed.
and please don't start the camping/genrush argument, you and I won't see eye to eye on it and will only result in derailing the conversation.
regardless of all of that, throwing around blame is the least likely way to have a constructive conversation about toxicity as a whole. -
at this point I'm stirring the pot, unfortunately, but how ironic is it that in a post about toxicity it takes 5 posts for someone to start throwing blame.
DBD was definitely survivor sided for a long time, but killers are probably in the best place they've ever been in (aside from freddy and legion) and yet the blame is still being thrown on survivors.
someone pointed out on a separate post about how they could look at the profile of a toxic survivor and see comments about them playing as a toxic killer too.
seems to me it's not really one side or the other, but rather it's predominately a set of toxic players who play both sides just as scummy. there are exceptions, of course, but that makes the most sense to me. -
i honestly can't remember but I'm pretty sure I had just picked them up... so maybe you're right.
-
just play friendly killer. never hook people more than twice, only occasionally kick gens or pallets, stuff like that.The_Crusader said:Avariku said:

I would like to hear your guess...Aren't killers just as played as survivors? I main both sides and I know for a fact that there's way more killers then when I started in September 2017. I don't know why killer mains are crying that there's too few of them, there's really not. Killer is just as fun as survivor and lots of people play it now. Even diehard survivor mains like I was play killer equally as much as they play survivor. Also for anyone who reads this, I think killer and survivor are both hard and take an even amount of skill. Idk what survivor mains are saying when they say killer takes no skill since it's not just m1 and 'gg ez' it takes a lot of predictions and thinking and I dont even know what killers are saying when they say survivors takes no skill it takes a lot of tactical thinking and knowing when to make a move and when to sit back and relax.
I don't know where you are getting your "stats" from, but I know a lot of killer who either quit playing completely or switched to main survivor to have a less stressful game.
Same. I joined as a survivor because I liked the horror aspect.
Now I can only player killer because of all the BS on the survivor side.
Which sadly means I rank up quickly as killer and then only 2 or 3 of my killers are usable as most of the others still have very poor perk choices.
I stay around rank 10 which is perfect for my casual self. lol -
yea, sorry, gonna have to disagree... mindgames don't work if YOU aren't good at them.
mindgames usually work for me pretty well, sometimes I'm outsmarted and they get a good lead on me, but that's my fault for getting duped. -
pretty sure the 10%boost in certain killer actions and the lack of information in regards to negative affects on survivor would aid against those 4xDS and so on.
fix them? no, but it would add some balance to it.
obviously this needs some tweaking but I do like where the OP is going with this. -
first, slugging isn't the only way to avoid the hatch standoff, it was merely what I suggested first.
second, you do make a valid point about there already being chests and seeing one opened doesnt necessarily mean that isn't the key-chest, or that the survivor doesn't already have it, or other possible doubts.
with that said, it's still possible.
and I had misunderstood you, I think, in that I thought your first intention was that the survivor would still have to "open" the hatch in order to escape, something that would give the killer ample amount of time to hit them twice... so if that wasnt what you meant then I apologize.
even still, it seems like a decent idea on paper, metaphorically speaking, but I feel like it's likely to end up back where we are now in some way.
would be interested to see it tested though. -
actually had a survivor do this to me the other day and the pallet just pushed me away without stun or drop. lol.
-
how would this not just hand the hatch standoff to the killer?
what's keeping the killer from camping the chest?
how is this not catering to the killer who couldn't be bothered to slug the second to last survivor? -
I actually like the legion lore as it is, but I guess I might be the minority on that?
-
How is that not a way around it? he killed her. hatch standoff ended and killer got his kill, that's literally proving you wrong, period...mcNuggets said:@Avariku said:
"whoever finds the hatch first wins."you do realize it's WAY easier for the killer to find the hatch than the survivor, right?
they actually have to stealth around to find it without getting found themselves, meanwhile the killer can just stroll around looking for it without fear.
don't get me wrong, the hatch mechanic needs some tweaks, but so often I have seen this work against the survivors.
just last night had facecamping Michael that wiped the team + 1 disconnect.
after I died I spectated and when the hatch standoff hit, he stalked the survivor in front of her and then tombstoned her... there are ways around it.
"There are way around it"
Playing michael with tombstone isn't really a way "around it".
and there are other ways around it than just that, slugging the 3rd survivor, aura reading perks, need I go on?
and yea, I couldn't care less about people whining about 1 survivor escaping... you've already won the round, that final kill is just for your ego. 500bp? please. -
Yea I doubt I would feel any fear playing with swf, but I always solo queue and contrary to what so many people like to say, I don't see survivors as the power role unless they are swf.
and the only way to reliably counter campers is with that swf, so solo queuing is just a relentless campfest that keeps me from playing survivor. -
but on top of being able to ambush them, you also have an additional amount of time to down a third on top of what would potentially be a guaranteed 1-2 hook just waiting for you in the basement.
-
sadly, I'm on xbone so I won't be able to see a detailed profile, possibly some twitch links or something, but I'm not going out of my way to check that out.
maybe one day when I buy this for pc, but I kinda doubt I will any time soon... that's a lot of DLC to purchase just to play the same game. -
I have my own assumptions about this but won't bother with it.
regardless, DBD does need some kind of change to bring more "fun" into the mix. I'm sorry, but when a dev team says "just go play a different game" ... that seems like they know they're game is flawed, but have no intention of fixing it.
I like DBD. a lot. But I'm frustrated with the balance where playing survivor is just frustration and playing killer has gotten tedious.
we either need a new mode which is set up for more casual/fun playstyles or the main game needs some pretty serious fixes. (for both killers and survivors.) -
actually that's a really interesting point that I hadn't stopped to consider, but it makes perfect sense.
you think someone who's camping survivors is suddenly going to play with morals when they swap to the survivor role? nah, they're going to be just as toxic but in different ways.
It's a shame we have no tools to avoid people like that... -
wow Wolf... what a condescending response. "You find that game fun?"
it's almost as if you're being petty because you were proven wrong.
yes, some people enjoy minecraft, and just because minecraft CAN BE competitive it is NOT a competitive game at its core, nor does it need to be.
and even plenty of games that fall under the PVP category that are not competitive and not fair, but can still be fun. Unfortunately DBD is not one of those. I assume it has something to do with the very nature of the game and the reward system, but being horribly outmatched by a killer or by an SWF is not very fun and feels like you're wasting your time. -
so any survivor who gets camped should just go ahead and DC instead of wasting their time in a match where they won't get any BP OR any game time?TreblucFayle said:@Avariku said:
if they aren't DC'ing or suiciding on hook then they are keeping the killer busy so their team doesn't get massacred by a camper.
they're taking one for the team... seems like it's doing something to me.
They didn't choose to be put on the hook. And the killer is only being "kept busy" if THEY choose to stay. The survivor on the hook is doing nothing and should not be rewarded for it.
this would only add to the team being screwed over and the camping killer being rewarded even further.
Or should the hooked survivor just give up their freetime for no reason? -

mine matches up with OP.
running around a map and scaring survivors until they realize you're not actually killing anyone and the sheer act of picking up a survivor makes you so dizzy that you just spin in circles till they're free.
eventually they figure it out and its just a fun game of tag or hide and seek. lol -
which of his statements were untrue? can you provide proof that they are untrue or are we just supposed to take your word for it?
honestly, I fully agree with them, playing killer gets boring and playing survivor is just asking for frustration and less bloodpoints.
It's gotten to the point where I'm finally starting to play killers I actually have no interest in, just to shake things up, but survivor? nah, it's just a camp-fest on xbone, so unless I have a daily that needs done I avoid it. -
honestly if you're chasing a survivor for that long... they are mind-gaming you in some way. granted I can't speak entirely for higher ranks, but I only occasionally have issues with the higher ranked players I bump into thanks to broken matchmaking... and even then... if they aren't using teamwork effectively then it's no big issue.
1v1 shouldnt be much of a problem for killer most of the time. -
this is also why camping is such a pain to deal with... it's an automatic tipping point in the killers favor assuming they have hex ruin (or some other perk to slow genrush) or the survivors are too altruistic.
I honestly don't care if they tunnel or not, that's usually just target prioritization. -

The other way around. Some people might start to hard camp for protest about these dumb changes
If instead of incentive hunting you punish people for face camp what are you gonna get? More face camps
And what do you get when you take out the hunting incentives nerfing them and giving even more counters? You guessed it! Even more camp
this is actually a perfect example of that said entitlement. The devs add something to bring a little more balance to a problem and the result? Killers camping even more to protest not getting their way like a bunch of petulant children.
don't get me wrong... there's entitlement issues on both sides of the coin... but this was too perfect of an example to pass up on.

looks like the killer already had a fairly easy round with one disconnect, whereas that survivor kinda got screwed... I say let them have it... I feel worse for survivors losing a player than I do as the killer, it basically just makes it easy mode for me.
