  • love how this discussion has followed the same death as so many others of the same topic.
the inevitable devolution into nothing more than a bunch of campers circle-jerking eachother about how awesome they are.
    lmao.
RIP civil conversations and constructive feedback.
  • personally I think you're making a lot of assumption about what other players will be using... I dont think I run a very common build anyway so I might be wrong.

but I just don't see it having as drastic of an affect as you seem to think it will. but only time will tell.
  • seems like mend either needs to take longer or they need to change something else up, cause 16s really isn't gonna slow much of anything.

  • they need to fix the double stun, hopefully fix how far he vaults, and make the timer continue during mend.

those three fixes would make him a lot more viable from what I've seen, hopefully without making him OP.
  • I'm genuinely curious how you can "have fun" staring at someone hanging on a hook for 2 minutes.
  • this thread has been the best illustration for rank and balance issues I've seen on the forums, without a bunch of bickering and whining.

it makes me think that killers in the higher ranks should get an extra perk or something to try and balance them out.

(would also actually give some incentive to staying in top rank instead of depipping to destroy noobs)
  • fair enough, I'll give you that. But once again I think that's where some players have an issue.

it's the clarification of "what is camping?" that I think gets everyone up-in-arms over it.

cause most of what we've discussed, I'm cool with, just don't stand there staring at me with your forehead pressed against mine for 2 minutes... I don't care if I die, I just want to have some fun in the process of dying. lol
  • yet if a survivor brings in items and contributes to a decent extent, those items are actually traded for the progress made.

I would need to do some research on that, but I would be willing to bet that the cost of the item plus addons isn't anywhere near worth the amount of bloodpoints gained through the progress gained with the use of those items... which would only further illustrate the disparity between BP earned for killer/survivor.
  • Now THAT I can understand, camping can be situational.
like end game... if the gates are open, camp away!!! lol. I never blame a killer for camping at that point.
  • I guess the biggest difference to me is the ones that stay literally within about 4 meters of the hook the entire time.  that is camping to me.

as long as there is some kind of chance that the person could be unhooked and make an escape, then it seems fair. but ensuring they have absolutely no chance of any escape, any chance to play the game, any chance to attain any points whatsoever, then you've essentially making it so they literally can't play a game they paid the same amount as you did for. (not including random sales prices and such)

also, @Attackfrog, I hope I never see you complain about any survivor tactic or behavior ever or I'll remind you of that pointlessly antagonistic post.
  • I main Amanda as well and I commonly get 3-4k rounds without camping.  I agree its up to the killer to make that choice, however, I disagree that it should be supported.
Not just because it's lazy, not just because some people whine about it, but because it takes away from the game itself.

there's no fear or fun to be had in a round like that.

except MAYBE for the killer, I guess... then its just generator simulator for the unchallenged survivors while the other two players have a staring match.

and again, I have NO issue with patrols, even "hard patrolling"... but I definitely have issues with killers who straight-up camp and waste the other players time. (both the two minutes it takes to die and the loading screens that come with the wasted round.)

thanks for being respectful about disagreeing... that much is a welcome change from the norm on these forums.
  • yra, huge difference between patrolling and camping.  though I will admit some players seems to lump them both together.
  • the only thing I have to say to this is that while I'm about 60/40 as a "killer main" ... Even as a survivor I have NO issue with patrols... hell, that just makes sense...  the problem I have is with killers who decide their first victim has no right to play the game at all for the duration of the round.

and yet, the community seems to expect that person should now dangle from the hook for 2 minutes of absolute boredom or completely screw the remaining survivors over.

just seems like a bad game mechanic to me.
  • lmao. this whole thread just proves that the community is pathetic. I've had lagswitchers on xbone as well.  I don't dc, but thats usually cause I still want whatever points I've been able to get.

meanwhile, people are actually defending lagswitching. lmao.
can't wait for the " It'S a LeGiT sTrAtEgY" comment.

even if you're not defending lagswitching specifically, just seems like you're arguing to argue.

DC if you want, but understand there will be consequences for it. its stupid in this situation, but having bhvr trying to determine when a dc is warranted or when it wasn't is going to be difficult and there's many other things they should be focusing on.

(like banning lagswitchers to begin with)
  • the do it for the same reason facecampers stand there and nod or smack the hooked survivor.

no life, nothing else for them to gloat about so they have to cheer over mundane and relatively easy accomplishments to make themselves feel better.

try not to let it get to ya. just keep playing the game and try to enjoy yourself.
  • honestly if I end up in a hatch standoff as the survivor, I'll make sure they don't know I've spotted them. (since finding the hatch is usually done by finding where the killer is camping.)

then I'll double back to find the safest route and go fail a gen skill check to get their attention.  "most" of the time they end up going after me while I circle around them to the hatch.

    /mindgame
  • "we made him the way he is to give survivors a CHANCE to escape."

you're mad they gave survivors a "chance"?
  • so, you're main argument is that camping is a legit playstyle?
what, cause the devs said so?
yet here they are actively buffing something to cancel it out a bit... so maybe you should revisit your views on that?

also, did you not just literally elaborate on the very point I made?  that it will absolutely suck that some toxic players will benefit from this?

At this point it just seems like you're arguing for the sake of arguing... so... have fun with that...  we will just have to wait and see what changes are made in the future.
  • and you ONLY know of toxic survivors? really?
  • excuse my ignorance....  BM?
  • personally I have been wishing they would make a change like this for a long while... I'm really glad to see it.
  • I like it because contrary to your experiences I run into campers quite often. 1/3-4 matches usually at rank 9-11.

and yea, borrowed time was a thing, but then the camper became a tunneler and the bs cycle continued.

the pause on the timer fixes that. I also expect many things from this patch will be tweaked over time.

also, if you didn't notice, I acknowledge its gonna suck to go up against, but I feel its the price we all have to pay due to some toxic players behavior.

(for the record, I usually have nothing against tunneling because, when not done with toxic motives, its essentially just target prioritization)
  • something needed to be done about the ridiculous number of campers and I'm glad they did it. Will it suck to have to deal with now as killer? yea, it will  but that's the price we ALL have to pay because some trolly entitled killers couldn't stop their nonsense.

only thing I hate about it is that the ones who DESERVE to be camped will likely benefit most. (trolly teabaggers, the ones who always seem to lead you to someone else, and those who like to click their dollar-store flashlights repeatedly.)
  • although, I do think I like your idea better... a certain point threshold would show that you've contributed, regardless of the method.
  • at the very least I think achieving something like the equivalent to 1 full gen (not necessarily the same gen, but cumulative) would be fair enough...
  • but isn't deep wound pretty easily remedied by a short timed "mend"?
where as traps keep survivors from escaping and can only be removed at a js box
  • Honestly a lot of the times the ones who did nothing get the hatch which is bs

this is honestly very true, however... don't punish the ones who actually work for it just because some lazy people get to take advantage of their hard work sometimes.

I've had quite a few games where I worked my ass off while my teammates were off doing gods-know-what, and the only way I survived was through the hatch... in my view, if I did gens, broke totems, made a rescue, avoided/escaped killer... I earned that escape.
  • honestly, these discussions are great (when the comments are well articulated and open-minded). But for the most part we will have to wait and see what changes will be made later on to have a true feel for them.
  • if they hook swarm wont that just ensure they all end up with "deep wounds" ?

@Avariku delicate feelings? youre whining right now

lmao. I stated my opinion. please illustrate exactly which part of that was whining?
  • yet his cloak is not a timed skill nor does it suffer the penalty of not being able to see the survivors.

have to agree that your biggest problem is your approach. Just because you're stealthed doesn't mean you don't need to think strategically. You should easily be able to come up on them from corners or behind trees.
  • just seems a bit one-sided is all... as though taking the time to break totems (something I don't mind doing, but get irritated cause I'm usually the only one) should be a given, survivors shouldn't have ANY indication as to if they have succeeded yet or not, thus potentially wasting even more time looking for a totem that doesn't exist... and now you want those same totems to respawn?   seems like a bit much.
  • Killers kick and scream over survivors who would like a tally of totems left to cleanse, but this can be suggested and there's no issue?

Personally I think this would be way too strong without some serious counterplay. the biggest thing I see with totems that needs to be fixed is the spawn locations.
  • I get it, camping is here to stay... but the fact that so many of you compare it to losers teabagging at the gates is pathetic.

camping ruins the entire round for one survivor who now has to wait 2 minutes to die, go back through load screens and lobby simulator...

meanwhile, those trolls who teabag have... well... wasted 10s of your time and... I dunno... hurt your delicate feelings?
  • it's really pathetic that so many killers are whining about this idea.
it literally does NOTHING to you... it simply incentivizes more survivor play.
this issue is exactly why I end up playing more killer than survivor. (this and the abundance of campers on xbox)
  • I run Amanda. I pop open a bottle of Champagne if I manage to grab someone from a Generator.

    same.
  • I've been having the same issue on xbox.  hatch grabs fail to engage at all (about 25% of the time) and grabs off gens are about the same.  but I'm occasionally getting locked into the grab animation even as the survivor scurries away to safety.
  • yea, it's a crutch perk. Both killers and survivors have crutch perks and you just have to adjust to them.

use what you want, but there's no need to delude yourself.   ^.^
  • right,  cause they're gonna put in a survivor with a bloody helmet and a knife....
  • While I fully support camping toxic players... I feel I have to point out that without survivors, killers have no game either.

please... I get campers every other match and my survivor rank is like 12

I keep hearing excuse after excuse... .
    "It's only in low ranks."
    "It's only in high ranks."
    "You must have deserved it."
"Their last match was probably awful."

I get it... there are SOME legit reasons to camp, even though as a rank 10 killer I've ONLY camped because someone was trolling their own team OR teabagging.

please stop making excuses for these trash players.

If someone teabags you shouldn't camp, its a bad mindset. I used to have it back when I was an average killer (myers) trust me stop that habit it ruins ur games since they just do gens.

there's a difference between those who teabag to distract and catch your attention, and those who do it to celebrate a minor victory like stunning you.

I won't waste my time on distractions, but you're going to strut around all cocky over 2s stun... I'm going to make sure you get a reminder about who runs the game.

your parents must be so proud of how you've turned out.
  • leave them.

I never hold a grudge over someone leaving me to die after the gates are opened.

I also rarely go back in for a hooked survivor. sometimes, yes, but I survive so few of my rounds that if I get the chance to bolt... I probably will.

only circumstances where I WILL go back :

    - I've already got enough bloodpoints to pip.
    - that particular person saved me at their own risk.
    - the killer is obviously not camping them
    - the killer has shown a lack of skill that pretty much guarantees a safe unhook and both of our escape.

    that's it... otherwise, I'm out.

  • 1, both.
(though mostly I'm playing killer cause I'm tired of dc'ing teammates and camping killers)

and killers are still too weak? seriously? I main pig and I consistently get 3k-4k without items, and playing pretty relaxed.

(mind you, I'm only rank 10, but still... seems a bit too easy when I barely have to try as killer and have to work my ass off just to die as survivor.)
  • I play pig mostly, but I really don't have a hard time with loops... I'll persevere and put them down unless I see a more valuable target or decide to go put some pressure on someone else.

I'd rather see loopers all all day every day than come across a camper as survivor.

Trapper stepping in his own traps. Never gets old.
My girlfriend played a round last night where she would have been dead on hook but he forgot about the trap he had set at the hook and stepped in it, freeing her and she ended up escaping by the end... it was really rather beautiful
  • if claudettes face gets removed as a cosmetic option, I think it's only fair to remove all of them...
whites and asians aren't the only ones who deserve to have their faces cut off.
  • I applaud your creativity and the obvious thought that went into it... BUT... this sounds horrible in my opinion.

10 survivors incapable of running and forcing a survivor into a confined area or penalizing them by exposed AND aura being revealed? this just seems like a killers wet dream.

I like the idea of 10 players versus one killer and even the exposed affect and mori... it would be a very fast-paced intense game...  but I feel this needs some serious tweaking before its even kinda fun for a survivor.

the current design just seems like throwing a bowl of cooked meat to a wolf and watching it ravenously devour it.
  • vice versa for killer.
