I did not say that it needs to strictly adhere to the rules of reality. The whole concept of the game breaks that quite handily.

Yes, short men exist, as does tall women. That's not something you really need to point out.

Freddy, Ghostface and Trickster are on the short side. Some survivors are outright taller then them, so it's not like BHVR isn't aware of the phenomenon.

My original point was that you said the male survivors are "much too tall", to which they really aren't. The majority of the killers already tower over them after all.

Yes, I need to point out because there is no representation for these type of short men. If there was a short male character with a regular voice volume, I am sure that he would be more played than any other male character.

Because in that scenario you would pick perks to counter the killers power and that would be way too strong. The difference is that I can’t see your perks and you can’t see mine, but I have 4 perks against your 16. You can dedicate one perk to something you don’t like and even if i don’t do it, it’s still 15 vs 4, if i choose the wrong perk it’s 3 vs 16, do you see the point?

I understand your point, but if I further discuss about this, we will deviate the main focus of this discussion, that is buffing Iron Will.

Gotta veto the "Bloodhound is useless"/"might as well use nothing at all" claim.

Yes it's a very underwhelming perk, but it's not nearly as bad as Beast of Prey or Predator, which are indeed useless / detrimental:

It not only makes the blood brighter, which can help alot in some maps with hard to see scratches and blood (most notably Borgo, but coldwind maps as well). It also makes blood pools stay 4 seconds longer, which is alot. It's the only perk that reliably allows you to drop a chase for some seconds (e.g. for applying pop on a gen) and resume with the chase afterwards, bc the perk will effectively navigate you to the injured survivor. With hemo effect (->Sloppy), thats even easier blood tracing. Survivors will think you left them, only for you to pop out seconds later (best with stealth killers).

So again, yes the perk is weak, but with the right playstyle, you can make it work / give you value. Thats far more than you can say about the other worst-perk contenders like Beast of Prey, Predator or Territorial.

That’s right on point, sir. Old legion could use the bloodhound to search for survivors even with iron will 100%. So, they are just trying to gaslight us with false statements telling that these perks did not have a use before 6.1.0

  • @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

Shouldn't they take a look at survivor volume instead?

So you don't have extreme difference like Ace vs Jeff for example.

If I remember correctly they were planning on doing it, but looks like they gave up on it for some reason.

No, it should bring back to 100% silence. Devs had more than 7 years to address character differences in volume, but they didn’t and likely they won’t. A quick and effective solution is to apply this change in order to make the game more diverse and balanced for people who play certain characters.

  • @DEMONANCE said:

i would only agree with removing the exaustion downside it should not go back to 100% .

Again, 100% Iron Will would address the character inequality that exists in this game in which some are louder than others. Making all them silent during while injured is a healthy balancing measurement to address this issue.

Has anyone else notice how fast the gens seem to be at the min ? I'm struggling to win with meme builds which was never the issue before, I even tried gen defence perks and the gens seem to quick even with those builds on. I know its irrelevant but I've been playing for 5 years and its never felt this bad before. Love to know your thoughts?

Genrushing seems the only counter play for certain killers and strategies that are currently happening.

Did you quote the wrong post? I didn't say anything about tunneling. Not even remotely. I suggest you actually the read the post before you say things like: "I am advocating for tunneling." I don't think you saw me advocating in favor of tunneling anywhere. I'd be happy, if tunneling was obsolete. But it isn't. And as long as that's the case, killers will continue to tunnel. Especially, when survivors don't use any anti-tunnel perks. But that is material for a different discussion.

The tracking part of Iron Will is only relevant outside of chase and when it comes to mind games. It won't help you escape chase just like that. But you suggested, that the killer should have to use perks just so they don't lose the survivor they chase. This is not how this game works and it never has been. If it did, then we'd have a real problem.

What tracking perks are there, that killers don't use but aren't incredibly bad? Don't get me started on Bloodhound and Predator. Both of these perks are literally useless. They don't do anything beneficial for you. Then there is Stridor. Which is somewhat alright but mostly unnecessary. No, turning Iron Will back to 100% will not make Stridor any more useful. Iron Will counters Stridor, not the other way around. So what tracking perks are there, that aren't used? I really can't think of a single example.

Aura perks hardly qualify. The killer can't reliably use them to keep track of survivors during chase.

I did not quote the wrong post. I know you from your previous posts about tunneling, that’s why I said what I said.

Also, survivors don’t bring up anti tunneling perks because they are very easily counterable and Decisive Strike is not as much effective as before.

Second, I was responding to other posts talking about the ways to counter 100 Iron Will. There are plenty of perks that can be used inside and outside of chase. If you need something useful in both scenarios, there is Bloodhound, which many killers did not use because they preferred to invest on Slowdown perks like Pop, Ruin, Jolt, etc. If you need an extra help, there are a lot of aura reading perks at the moment (nowhere to hide, bbq, hex face the darkness, etc). It is not that much hard to track survivors that have 100% Iron Will because once you have an idea of their location, your can pretty much rely on blood trails and scratch marks.

Also, as I stated in my numerous replies before this one to you, my main killer was Clown and I did not have any problems with Iron Will players. The main problem before 6.1.0 was old dead hard.

I think what you are forgetting is that it’s killers 4 perks versus survivors 16. It’s much more big of a deal do dedicate a perk slot for something you can’t even know you are playing against, while survivors can afford it.

Survivors are not able to you which killer they are going against, not are they able to know your perks. So, your argumentation is somehow flawed.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3554393#Comment_3554393

Men, generally, are taller then women on average.

Be pretty difficult to suspend your disbelief if every survivor was exactly the same height. There's already differences in height between those of the same gender anyway (Feng is noticeably shorter than most of the other female survivors, for example).

It is just a online game. It does not need to follow the same measurements of reality. Also, do you know that there are a lot of short men around there? So, why do we have a short male character?

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3553793#Comment_3553793

This made me laugh. It shouldn't but it did. Beast of Prey is not a tracking perk. I'm not sure how a few extra BP and undetectable status while in bloodlust will help the killer track a survivor. 🤣

Also, audio has one huge advantage over scratch marks and blood. Audio can help even when the survivor is behind a wall. That is how many mind games are played. Iron Will completely removed grunts of pain. So you basically could leave a loop as soon as the as you were able to break line of sight and would get away.

Tracking has always been crucial for the killer. As soon as tracking becomes an issue, everything else stops working too. Well, everything but one strategy, which is going to receive a nerf some time next year (3gens). Even suggesting that the killer should use a perk to help them track survivors IN CHASE is ridiculous. The game revolves around chases not hide and seek. If survivors can reliably win chases by getting away, that puts killers in a terrible spot.

Here it comes the guy who advocates in favor of tunneling in this forum.

If you are not able to track survivors by following the blood, that’s a skill issue. There are many perks to support tracking for survivors that are not used because your basically don’t need them in the current state of DBD perks for survivors. Making Iron Will 100% will still make possible for killers to counter it with already available perks if they struggle to track survivors.

How is it a bad design, it is a consequence of the only functionality old IW provided. IW had no other aspect than make you silent.

If you assume a killer should always be aware of the location of the survivor they are chasing, then yes that would be a correct statement, but where does this requirement even come from, could you elaborate on it?

I don't like the notion where we fabricate statements out of our own preferences then expect everyone to meet that standard, and it is now somehow part of the discussion. Its a 50/50 so what, you dont like it, but that does not make that a valid point others now have to refute. How about you back it up first with something more tangible.

Yeah, 100% Iron Will had no other benefit rather than being quiet.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

First of all, the intention of this post is to explore and gain insights into this phenomenon that I am interested in. I ask you to share your experiences and give constructive feedback. Please be respectful to everyone <3

So, as we all are aware, I'm sure, female survivors in DBD are not just more popular than male survivors, but much more popular. I know that this is not a phenomenon exclusive to DBD, it exists in many other games as well. However, with this post I would like to gain an understanding on why that is so in DBD specifically. Cosmetics play a big role in this, so I would like us to take them into consideration, as well.

As far as I can think, these are the reasons that people might be preferring either male or female survivors:

    • who they can identify with, relate to, or connect with better
    • who they find more attractive, and therefore want to see on the screen
    • who has more interesting (beautiful, quirky, etc.) cosmetics available, as well as more cosmetics in the sense of quantity
    • who has gameplay advantage - in this case it's the female survivors, due to them being shorter and therefore having better potential for stealth, evading the killer, and (flashlight) saves on their teammates

Based on my experience of watching streamers, as well as other people I'm acquainted with, it seems that a person's gender identity and romantic/sexual interests don't play a major role in this, since any group of people tends to play as female characters.

I am a gay guy, and prefer playing as male characters, because I can both relate to them better, and also prefer seeing them on the screen. However it seems that most gay men prefer playing as female characters. This is what confuses me.

I would like to ask you readers, to give your perspective and understandings on this, on why female characters are that more popular than male ones. Both female and male characters are awesome and deserve love and popularity. And in order for me to able to promote male characters more, and accentuate their value, I need to understand what is causing this disproportional pick rate.

Thank you for reading! I hope that we can have a really nice discussion on this.

Male survivors should be a shorter. They are too much tall and hard to play at first, specially on console.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

Many old perks where very problematic.

It's better to look at survivors that are louder or quieter than the rest and adjust them accordingly.

Hide and seek is basicly dead at this point. Sit on a Gen or die seems to be the mantality right now.

Killers don't have the time to go and look around the map.

Iron Will was definitely not problematic at all.

it was basically a waste of a perk slot to make sure that you would not get easily found if you are injured.

Also, I highly disagree that killers should not spend some time searching for survivors. It is their job to do that, and if they don’t want to, they have the freedom to run aura reading perks and informational perks like (infectious fright, whispers, etc). If these perks exist, they should serve to a purpose less than being a souvenir shinning in our perks inventory.

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

It's decent on Ace and Ada but yeah random nerfs based on popularity... off the record is straight upgrade, supresses grunts of pain 100% + delete aura readings+ endurance and still works while exhausted

Yeah, I mean. 100% Iron Will makes all survivors able to play without getting distracted by very loud moans of pain. I really can’t play Jane without Iron Will because she is so unnecessary loud, the same for many male and female characters. I would definitely use other survivor characters if Iron Will was 100%. It brings diversity to the game.

  • @Chaosrider said:

Iron WIll was never a problem. bhvr just wanted to trash some perks, and IW got caught in the act. pun intended.

You are 100% on point my friend. They just wanted to nerf some perks to the ground to come up with other changes. However, a lot of time have passed since this unwanted change on Iron Will that I am really concerned with the utility of this perk as it is.

I really do not see a point of using it anymore if I have other perks that will do the same thing for free. I want more incentives to be injured since they destroyed the usefulness of medkits and self healing.

  • @jokere98 said:

The difference is that you can't see IW before the game starts, unlike flashlights, medkis and toolboxes

Well, that’s because literally no one uses this perk as used to do before 6.1.0.

it is like Decisive Strike. As this perk is trash in comparison to what was before 6.1.0., nobody runs it. As a result, killers tunnel without being fear to being pushed back by that perk.

nah, it is not a bad design when you have 50/50 in the game base kit for strong killers like nurse/blight/spirit. Iron Will was the counter play for many of their tricks.

    I wasn't supporting you.

Sloppy and Slowdown perks aren't ran as counter perks. They are ran, because they are solid perks regardless what the survivor team brings.

Well, so you accidentally supported my narrative.

Sloppy is ran because it delays and interrupts heals (what it is a good counter to medkits). Slowdown are ran to avoid genrush mainly caused by perks and toolboxes. Therefore, what you call “solid” is merely what I call counter play.

    Again, thanks for your support.

Sloppy is a good generic perk and not just a counter to med-kits. Same with slowdown perks.

Thanks for your support. But, yeah, perks are countable for survivors and killers in this game. You don’t need to be a Ph.D to understand that.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

You’re thinking of Bloodhound, which is not much better nor is it needed to be able to follow bloodstains. That doesn’t change how strong old IW was. Furthermore, DBD isn’t a counterpick game. You can’t change your perks to counter the other side once you’ve already seen what they have.

It is about guessing my friend. If you see flashlight, you get light borne. If you see Medkits, you get sloppy. If you see tool boxes, slow down perks.

So, claiming that this game is not a counterpick game is not only inaccurate. It is a false statement.

  • Just facts, I played as clown for years before 6.1.0, and I can say that iron will was not a problem. I used sloppy butcher and tracked the blood. Simple. My only problem was old dead hard, but aside that, no issues with 100% iron will.

  • @dbdthegame said:

5 months that this garbage perk is still in the game, unchanged, gifting survivors everywhere a free 3% haste effortlessly. How much longer?

Well, playing Clown and Deathslinger, I don’t see a lot of problem with this perk. Honestly, I really don’t care much about it since they can’t play as much aggressively as survivors did in 2021. The only problem with MFT is that people over commits a chase that is no supposed to commit.

... smh. "Beast of Prey .... yeah. No. Really! He recommended me to use Beast of Prey. What a mad night..."

If you don’t hear a survivor, use this perk and follow the blood. Instead of running slow down perks, invest of aura reading and informational perks. Period.

Using a perk and getting value out of it does not mean you are “losing a perk slot.”

And not only is Beast of Prey a terrible perk, it has nothing to do with tracking so I’m not sure what your point is.

Make a small effort to understand that there was a counter play for this perk that it is name beast of prey. If you don’t listen to a survivor, just follow the blood highlighted! Simple, but people were busy running slow down perks to use it as supposed to.

  • @Nazzzak said:

"bring back the old days mission to have a hide and seek play-style viable"

The multitude of info perks (aura and screaming) suggests BHVR don't want that play-style to be viable

since we are just saying random things and pretend it is a valid argument, here is mine:

Audio cues have no valid counter perk and are therefore are not balanced, killers should put more effort into finding survivors instead of just being guided to them right away.

    Exactly!!!

  • @Zokenay said:

Sorry but old Iron Will WAS a problem for the game, audio is extremely important, and having a perk that makes you permanently 100% silent while injured was a massive advantage.

His tail attack needs to have a longer cooldown after a missed attack. Other than that I have zero problems with Xenomorph.

Well, the cooldown is not the only problem with him. The fact that he does not have a literal cue when he will attack (your reaction has to be literally negatively timed) is also broken:

    https://youtu.be/xUnmq7z6ZvY?si=1MNzKe_qIsDveCNh

now, imagine this killer, with the huge slow down that it has, using this mechanic to tunnel down or camp a survivor at 5 gens. This killer has a way oppressive power to rule the game in the few minutes of the match.

With our anti tunneling perks being nerfed to the ground, and endurance not stacking, it is not possible to force the killer not to tunnel someone before the first gen is done. Out of the record is countered by just a slap after unhook, Decisive Strike is useless bc you don’t get enough distance to reach a safe zone, guardian is a joke of a perk, borrowed time don’t stack with out of the record and it is countered by a simple slap after unhook.

This killer can just camp (or proxy camp) the area, hit the unhooker, then down the unhooker, and then tunnel the unhooked having all the time of the world to down him/her/them. The justification for that is on the fact that one survivor will be down, another at risk of being deleted from the game in 5 seconds, another technically setting torrents, and one doing gens. (This is in the most optimistic scenario, but it is very chaotic seeing it in practice).

This killer is overpowered and way too much oppressive to be in this current state. The devs must address this issue with the proper response that it deserves.

Brother in christ, you can literally deny his power and force him to turn into an m1 killer!

You just gotta place a turret near a loop near your gen and drag him there. How hard is that?

Do you think that we were born yesterday?

this killer can destroy any torrent with his tail attack, and he has addons to reduce the torrents effectiveness. Not only mention that you can’t place torrents mid chase, so if you are pushed to an area away from torrents, you are basically dead. Also, there is a limit of placement for those torrents, if there is one across the map, you will have to carry this until another area of interest (you lose a lot of time due to the negative status gained). Also, if you get hit while carrying the torrent, it explodes. Also, many players have been exploiting the oppressive power of alien to tunnel down and camp at 5-4 gens. Because it is easy to to that, they eliminate a player from the game and guarantee a win because, guess what, the slowdown of this killer requires a heavy and coordinated team work to have a small chance to survive.

stop trying to hide the problem by gaslighting other people’s experiences in the game.

If you drop the pallete you get hit if you dont drop the pallete and dont have perfect reaction time to his highspeed tail attack you get hit. and maybeeee he misses, you have to pre drop the pallete after that you have to play around it, vaulting is impossible cause its like dropping pallets a Guaranteed hit and if you dont vault he can only m1 you. Is that skill? if pyramid head misses a attack you gain crossmap distance and against him you are stuck until you get down.

sry my bad english hopefully you can understand this

    Well said!

  • Supported!

I won’t buy this chapter until they fix this overpowered killer.

    https://youtu.be/q6CEMRwLfoQ?feature=shared

It is funny that they nerfed circle of healing (so not heals), they nerfed prove thyself (so no gen pressure), they nerfed decisive strike (so tunneling down is less punishing), they nerfed Med kits (so no self heal if your teammates are busy or dying), but they allow this killer to have so much power that even the treat of using his power is enough to make survivors stuck in a loop waiting for their imminent death.

great job devs! Keep going with this terrible work!

After a long play as killer or survivor, I have to take ibuprofen tablets for headaches. This should be matter of great concern for the devs because it can be matter of a lawsuit. (You know how people are out there).

Overall, I just want to have the option to switch that thing off. Otherwise, I will have to play less and less the game.

By the way, I already have auditive limitations (I only hear about 80% of what a regular person does in my age). However, this game is the only one I have had issues, specially because of these long and extremely loud screams.
