You literally forgot to mention that even Otz himself says that this isn't ideal and it might not work. Maybe watch his streams where he explains exactly what can go wrong with this strategy. What do you expect Sadako players to do instead? Magically turn into Nurse and start teleporting while in chase? She already is horribly weak and she has nothing to make you go down in 1 hit so you DO have enough time to insert the tape anyway. STBFL is not a perk that works from the get go. You have to do something for it first. If you have a problem with the only viable strategy on a killer that has nothing else going for them and that is not even a guaranteed kill even in the best case scenario you need to learn how to play survivor and how to play against it. Ima give you the same advice I get from people that stack the best perks, items and map offerings and beat me with a meme build before proceeding to teabag in the exit gates like their families's lives depend on it.

    Git gud.

This gameplay should not allow even the slightest opportunity to body block TV's from being used. If you play against the pig and she body blocks, you can go to another TV. Likewise, the same should happen if Sadako stands in front of a TV just to build up your condemned. It should happen the following:

If Sadako stands for 5 seconds within 0.5 meters from any TV, she would demanifest immediately after it, so survivors could insert the tape without a problem.

What argument? Your "Nurse or Blight or Range-Killers like Huntress can hit"-thing?

Congratulations. No one said a perk should make u god-mode against every killer.

Oh and about Nurse: She is no killer u should balance this game around. She was and is broken.

You should reread my post above /\

DS has been an abusive perk for years. Now it is a risk/reward appropriate perk where you have a chance to earn an escape from being tunneled.

The devs promised to make the stun 3 seconds because enduring used to counteract part of the stun. There was a ~2 year delay while that got sorted out so you had plenty of time to enjoy the way it worked before.

Your claims about risk and reward are flawed because the "reward" (1.5 to walk/run away from the killer) is not enough to reach a window.

If it was used as an aggressive perk for some players, it is on them. Also, people against DS just purposefully ignore the fact that almost any perk can be used "aggressively" in a game play, like prove thyself in a gen rush build, head on and flash bang in a stun build, blastmine + repressed alliance in a gen prank build.

Also, I used to play killer (clown main), and I never complained about DS because I knew that perk is mostly used against tunneling. If someone was playing aggressive, I would just hit them and leave them on the ground (slug). I mean, come on! If you had DS before that nerf you couldn't anything else that could contribute for the progress of the game. If you touch the gen, it's gone. If you touch a totem, it is gone. If you heal someone, it's gone. That's fair, and enough to keep the perk balanced.

What Behavior did was to completely make the perk weaker than premonition. You just slap the killer with a plastic glove and run 2 meters away just to get downed in 1 second.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

BHVR wanted to kill Decisive Strike just so it would be less used, even though it led to much easier tunneling. Instead of making the DS skill checks easier to hit, they made the perk more useless. I do appreciate the basekit endurance, it's been really helpful. But DS and Reassurance need buffs.

    1) make DS have an easier skill check to hit, and the stun being 5 seconds so we actually get a chance to fight the tunneling

    2) extend the range of Reassurance by 1 or 2 meters, just so we can use it above the basement finally. Also remove the white aura for the killer, so they don't know that someone with Reassurance is nearby.

    3) Disable killers' powers within a certain radius near a hooked survivor.

BHVR refusing to do these things makes me thing they actually endorse tunneling and camping. I hope they prove me wrong.

    Well said, indeed.

I have 56 games of solo queue and 36 killer games in the last month. If that isn't enough, then idc because ow2. Some people enjoy aura builds or even meme builds. I do most commonly see the meta gen kick perks, but it is way way better than it was before 6.1.0 on both sides. Killer's have way more option and builds they can go with than before, although most are slow down as believe it or not that is always going to be the best killer perks in the game until they adjust the game so much that they can be removed. And survivor's aren't relegated to their same op set of perks every single game to the point of being unable to switch off of them due to the sheer power difference. Survivors lost like what IW and DS right. Wow 2 perks. They got like 6-8 good value perks in return.

Edit: It's kind of irrelevant if you play solo queue or not now that I think about it. If you play swf you naturally have higher mmr and get killers playing more and more for the win.

I respect you opinion, but "good value perks"? Bro, they literally made perks that were just fine useless, like calm spirit, pharmacist. Of course some perks are good, like out of record and tenacity, but OFR does not counter tunnel like DS did in the past. If a killer is camping a survivor on a hook, and another survivor come and rescue the person. The killer can, to counter OFR, just hit immediately the unhooked survivor, OFR doesn't stack if you are in deep wound. 🤯

So, basically what I saw in this update is a bunch of perks giving endurance, but as they don't stack (as they should), killers can counter it very easily. If dead hard did not give endurance and invincibility but just distance, it could be a great way to fight against tunneling after unhook.

Now, back to DS, it feels that DS should change it's name from Decisive Strike for Decisive Slap because 3 seconds stun is just 1.5 seconds useful to reach a pallet or window.

  • @Bot_Salvo88 said:

I can confirm that I can't see a difference anymore. Killers STILL feel forced to bring slowdown perks even with +10 sec gen speed on each gen, survivors STILL feel forced to use off the record and maybe ds even with base +10 sec borrowed time base kit. Killers may use Save The Best For Last only because of Survivors using perfect Dead hards and, since killers don't want to sniff a survivor (rightfully), they gain a stack and that's it.

Not to be rude, really. But your comment translates to: I can't run meme builds when killers run full meta now because they are not lagging behind as they were before and I really miss my old boring busted perks that were meta for 5 years. It was a meta shakeup because people were tired of seeing the same old perks EVERY SINGLE GAME. As much as people want to think nothing has changed the increased build diversity is there 100%. I quit this game from April until 6.1.0 because survivors were quite literally running the same 7 perks(max) every single game. I would call them bots with perks because I wasn't going against good players, I was going against bad players running carry perks. Although I would still win against these "bots" because I am playing blight and am capable of beating players in my mmr but way below my skill level. But imagine wraith or bubba or slinger or demo or anyone that wasn't spirit, blight and nurse. The killer had to be that much better than the survivor's and even more so the worse the killer they played. IW and DH being the most unskilled free perks on survivor side by miles.

Now I more often see sweat squads that actually know how to play the game, know how to play vs blight. Hell I went against a comp team a couple weeks ago and for the first time ever since playing blight said "Wow they are so good at w". This game is in a way better spot then it has ever been in it's history. Solo queue is lagging behind now, but as a solo queue player myself and from killer pov I would attribute it way more to bad players getting randomly backfilled into a game they have no right to be in than the lack of information that solo queue deserves.

And one last time I will mention how DH after validation was the most busted perk to exist for such a long period of time ever in this game. Not only did it start deleting killer powers instead of dodging them(victor being an auto kick, huntress hatches getting deleted instead of going through to a survivor on the other side), ping above even 50 started to become extremely annoying to play against. I play on 50 ping as killer, and I could finish a hit fully before dh kicks in and says no because they had 80 ping. Quite literally the most forgiving thing I have seen since playing this game.

As a side note I do consider full gen kicking meta to be way too good right now on killer side but mostly due to how busted eruption is. It promotes a hit and run tactic that I find disgustingly unskilled.

I see the same perks every single time on killers. Try to play more solo queue more often.

I wanna start off by how i honestly think the 6.1.0 was ironically a failure an everyone denies it because it gave killer quality of life changes they should’ve had years ago while i think 6.1.0 was a major change an dbd history what did it exactly accomplish? i feel like the meta is the exact same thing for both sides an because of this it has caused dbd to feel sorta stale for a lot of players an a lot of people barley play it anymore heres why i think so (long discussion btw)

the meta didn't really change at all. All survivors bring are DH still good (maybe sprint burst instead) Off the Record (to replace how bad DS is now) and the two other perks are still either COH, Unbreakable, Prove Thyself, or Adrenaline. The only "new" survivor perks I ever see are Reassurance and Windows but fundamentally all of the perks I see survivors bring are the same exact perks from before all the reworks happened with OTR taking over DS. Same for killer, I'm not seeing unique builds ever. I see STBFL more and that's it, otherwise it's still fundamentally the same exact builds for killer. 3 to 4 slowdowns, maybe not pop ruin undying anymore, but eruption call of bring overcharge, or still Pain Res corrupt deadmans, etc. I think the perk reworks were honestly a failure and the meta is just as stale an can even feel even worse than before i wanna here everyone opinions killer mains an survivor mains. so has dbd started feeling stale recently?

    Continuation...

Spine chill is awkward to use that I don't even bother.

Iron will, rest in peace pld friend. I used love to run this perk with flash lights to juke killers. However, strindor spirit mains won this one. In fact, running iron will nowadays seems like using a napkin as a towel. Completely pointless, especially in some characters like bill, Leon, Jill, and other lowder characters.

Calm spirit is just terrible. If we rarely used it before, now it is just a dead weight in our build. REMOVE THE PENALTY ON BLESSING, CLEANSING AND SEARCHING CHESTS. Otherwise, I makes no sense to use it because every second in this game counts, especially after adding 10 seconds on gens.

Pharmacist... really? I mean, I never ever used this perk, but guys, this perk is just beyond useless. "You have 100% to get a medkit, but only if you are injured." It sounds like somebody's mom say "You will get your ice cream after dinner, but only if you deep clean the entire house." 😂 I mean, who is the poor player that will search chests while injured? (Do gens!!!) What if another teammate did it? Too bad my dude.

This 6.1.0 update was just a thing that they forced us to swallow like the new update that will give infinite unbreakables and insta kill for slug king/queen of the match. It is just bad in any shape and form.

I agree with you. This last update sucks because I don't feel that, as a survivor main, I can run a funny build and get alive before the last gen is done. I mean, many killers are using a combo of regression perks, call of brine, overcharge, Pain Resonance, etc. As a result, I always feel forced to run a gen rush build to have the minimum opportunity to power up a gate and escape. Sometimes, even with a gen rush build it is not possible to do that because some teammates mess up (that's okay), and it is harder to lift them up and recover the damages done already.

To be honest, I miss so much using DS, Old Dead Hard, Resilience and Spine Chill. Damnit, it gives me goosebumps just to think about it. I could play bold, but now playing dbd feels like eating a chunky piece of beef without seasoning. It is like meh...

Decisive Strike is useless because 1.5 seconds is not enough time to reach a pallet or window, especially against nurse, blight, huntress, deathslingers, etc. BuT NoBoDY ShOuLd GeT a FrEe ScApE WiTh Ds. Whatever, dude, If someone was skillful enough to run a killer for 5 gens, they more than deserve to use their DS to escape. If you disagree with that, by analogy, No Way Out should deactivate once the hatch is closed "because a killer should never get a free kill."

Dead Hard is meh. I loved to give a dash to reach a pallet (even though I mostly hit a wall LMAO) But, seriously, 0.5 seconds is so little time that if the killer has a 100 million ping, you are absolutely destroyed.

Self Care, for everything that is sacred in this world. In which universe self care was op? The dbd community constantly made jokes about how bad it was. (Self care Claudette lol) But, people still use because it is a starting perk.

Lethal pursuer gets in clutch when it comes to guess what TV is the correct one. If a survivor spawn in one side of the map, it means that the other side has the right TV (plus you can see their aura walking straight to the TV). Also, you can just hit and run before they insert the tape, less experienced survivors will panic run and probably will expose the location of the TV. You can farm STBF stacks 1 or 2 while doing this if you focus on the non-obsession players. But the point is that it should never be a thing, like the Pig camping the box.

A lot of posts critique many Killers as being boring, too powerful (oftentimes, too weak), and not fun (either to play as or against). So, truly, what original Killer ideas do you have that check off all of those boxes? How can the devs create multiple Killers that meet all of that criteria (in your opinion)? This is not an antagonistic and rhetorical post. It's a genuine question.

I think they should listen to the community more when it comes to make pools, ask questions to the players, try new features suggested by the players, try to make the process of adjusting killers something more democratic. In fact, just a round table with people from both sides should be enough to fix it.

Again, that was your team screwing up by engaging Sadako when they didn't have any reason to. Bodyblocking at that stage is pointless because as long as Sadako doesn't hit the person who needs to touch the TV, you're achieving less than nothing. I know you can't control what your team is doing unless you're in a SWF, but once your team starts making dumb plays that feed a killer, it stops being "this situation is OP" and starts being "my team got me killed." Which, if it's a situation where the killer only gets a 1k, isn't all that noteworthy.

My problem with the nerf is that while her Condemn mechanic generally sucks and doesn't do anything unless you really brute force it (or end up on 1 of like 3 possible maps that are small enough), the fact that survivors need to run to a specific TV does create pressure that would not exist if they could access any TV, or if they couldn't be required to go to a TV she is near. She can and does benefit from this at times she's playing perfectly normally.

There's all kinds of weird scummy strategies killers can use, but generally they don't become problems unless they're effective at killing and people start using them because it's an easy way to get results. AFK Pig was popular because you could literally AFK and get kills. All you had to do was move to a box at the start, and you could go, boil pasta, and come back to a 2K. This is more like Basement Bubba, where you spend a long time doing nothing at all and that's boring for everyone, but you still need to go and win chases in order to get kills. And this gimmick is way less effective than Basement Bubba at getting team wipes.

Actually, now that I think about it, Bubba is better at this strat in every single way. It's the exact same issue - you get downed once and you're out of the game. Except Bubba can do it to anyone whenever he feels like it, can quick-break pallets, can't be bodyblocked except when he's carrying, and has a readily available instadown. Sadako needs to use a rare addon, has to wait for most of the match before she's allowed to start chasing one specific person as a powerless M1 killer, and that person may be across the map and can give her the runaround and reach the TV while she heads over to a killer instinct prompt, in addition to the whole 'lol noclip' thing.

This strat isn't going to take off. It's way too weak.

That's a good point btw. I loved our discussion about this topic. Hmmm, but I believe that sadako should have this feature somehow changed. I play solo queue almost all the time, so it seems that I am powerless most of the time btw. Anyway, great conversation.

What do you mean, once Sadako knows it, it's over? You literally just walk through her. I haven't got the slightest idea what you mean about needing to click and tbag her, because a.) if the Sadako fell for it and left the box, she's dumb, and b.) again, why did you not walk into her. She has to hit you twice to down you. You lose collision on the first hit and have time to insert the tape. If she has more than one stack of STBFL, either you or your teammates have been screwing around and taking unnecessary hits. If she has 3 stacks of Devour, she hasn't been AFK all game. If she has Haunted Grounds, that was a team error. And if she has Rancor/NOED, you virtually already won the game while she loafed around doing nothing and just need to loop her M1 butt for 30 seconds while your teammates open a gate and come to escort you/do a bone. And if none of these things apply... that's all I can think of off the top of my head why you would not be able to literally ignore her and tank a hit.

I don't use these words much, but this is genuinely a skill issue. It's like getting grabbed by a killer at the hook because you full sent it the first time. You learn to spam grabs. Done. Issue solved. There is a clean solution to this and it always works as long as you don't faff around and give the killer power that they don't have by default. You cannot force a condemn mori by AFKing if the survivor knows what to do, unless their teammates were idiots. I suppose it's also a problem if you only try and go for the TV when you're at 7 and a half stacks of Condemned, and you haven't yet identified what Sadako is doing, but that is also a survivor screw-up because you shouldn't leave those kinds of status effects to the last minute.

It's bad gameplay, but it's easily taken apart. And yeah, bodyblocking is another way you can save your teammates once you recognize what she's up to, including escorting them to the TV. This is not an issue compared to some of the other strats (such as Sadako using her phase to make people unhookable, which I think is patched? But that was actually a problem, because you legitimately couldn't do anything.)

I wouldn't have an issue with changing how Sadako works, given that her entire power is gated by her terribly implemented mori system and I'd like them to change that, but the fact that you want a bottom five killer outright nerfed over a frankly pitiful and ineffective strat is just... no.

When I say to nerf her, I mean to remove this possibility. She can harass a target, build condemn, and body block the TV if she knows that this one is the right one. If your teammates body block her, she may build STBL stacks, then use that in her favor to prevent you from inserting the tape.

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3220347#Comment_3220347

I disagree. It's a dumb strat, but the point is that there is something that you can always do against it, and therefore it's the survivors' fault for failing to deconstruct it. It's like NOED - dumb or bold survivors will get themselves killed rushing in for the save without dealing with the bone, smart survivors will snap to their roles and locate it, or recognize when the only thing they can do is leave. Both Basement Bubba and boxblocker Pig removed the choice aspect by making an effectively unwinnable situation, and that needs/needed change. But this is not that kind of situation.

A Sadako doing this against any survivor who knows how Sadako works is going to waste several minutes getting a single hook and allowing 3-5 gens to pop to no gain. It's a bad strat, and virtually nobody does it because it's a bad strat. It'll stomp newbies, sure, but so does virtually everything; you don't need to play AFK Sadako for that. This doesn't need addressing, and we certainly don't need to nerf one of the weakest killers in the game.

I disagree. You claim that this is a dumb strategy, and say that it doesn't take the counter possibility. But, what you don't mention is the fact that once Sadako knows it, it is basically over. You can force condemn Moris with that strategy, and there are many YouTube videos showing it. I personally saw this strategy taking place in a game this morning, I had to flashlight click and teabag the killer to avoid the mori. I had to body block with other two players to avoid a insta kill of a teammate that wasn't even hooked. Sadako misplayed to kill the guy, but she got 2 hooks as a reward of our body blocks. So, yeah, it is a pretty lame and unfair gameplay.

    Video link of this strategy:

  • @Laluzi said:

Except Sadako has no way of knowing she's sitting in front of the right TV, given there's 6? TVs and 4 survivors (versus 4 and 4 with Pig), and the survivor can also literally walk through her and insert the tape after the first hit even if they're condemned, meaning a smart survivor can walk out of this with just a hook. STBFL could counter this, but a Sadako who's been camping a TV all game doesn't have stacks.

Pig had about a 65% chance of getting at least one kill for free, with the only counter being SWF and insane coordination (that Deadlock or Ruin could destroy instantly.)

Lethal pursuer gets in clutch when it comes to guess what TV is the correct one. The change is to promote slugging to death and slug play, but the same time it promote slugging Nurse even more (the root of problem) plus tunneling (45sec to down 3 is far easier than 4). It also remove alot of interaction between all players, and those special moment of 4 down into unbreakable flash light save a teammate, the hatch spawn next to the last slugged survivor... which make DBD vids always fun to watch.

The agrument on both side about Last stand update is they think the other side has better buff. But in the end both side hate it.

It is a completely unnecessary change that no one asked for, and it is just a desperate try to bring something new to a game rather than fixing existing issues. I justify that because if that happens, the gap between who receives more buff is going to be further evident, and very discouraging to play for a certain group.

I mean, it should never be a thing. Instead, they could redesign maps, put more pallets in some places and remove pallets in others.

Anyway, If that thing comes as an permanent feature, I will just uninstall the game and play another thing. I don't have a lot of time to play games, so I am very mindful with what I spend time on. If it is going to make me anxious, bored, and angry, I will just kiss dbd goodbye, and I believe a lot of people who don't talk in the forum will do it too.

I’m sorry if this may sound like a rant but if this post does I apologize for sounding very frustrated again.

All I’m trying to say is that yes solo que is bad but it’s always been kind of bad anyway or least from my experience from playing survivor. But my point is that in my killer matches I still get hard core squads that still bust out gens. I even say I’m seeing more again hard cord Swfs squads and it’s getting kind of annoying. But hey those are part of the game like I have said before and so have many others.

So even after all that, they still escape. I even watch some of the different many streamer’s videos on YouTube and whatnot. In each of their videos they even gave out tips to help survivors for this new patch since again the streamer’s still escape from their matches as well. So in short if the streamer’s, swf, and other good solo survivors can all still again escape even without deadhard, borrow, ds, ect.

I also know that camping and tunneling is again a problem but again in order to win as killer you have to tunnel and camp and I get that. I will also say that again camping and tunneling is not fun but both are necessary tools to help you as killer. I also know that facing that as survivor is equally annoying.

Basically all I’m saying is that again if all of those streamers and other survivors can escape then so can many other solo-que players. They can get better, they need to practice more and they will be fine. I know I again contradicted my words before but hey that’s just what I have to say on this matter again. I’m just really confused on these problems.

I don't know. I played a match with a doctor, and I got a perkless feng ming in my team. She did not touch a gen the whole game, hid in a locker, and died after being tunneled. Everyone in my team just gave up after it. I just stand under a hook just waiting. I mean, I was so done with these kind of games. I will just stop playing the game until the Developers take some actions about it.

If you are playing the spanish version of dbd, botany knowledge does not register its 20% efficiency penalty. It says "50% increased speed and efficiency"

The same in the Portuguese version!

All your points are fair and I agree with you.

The updating of the perks effects was sloppy on other languages as well. French version didn't even have Dead Hard's effect updated iniatially ! The descriptions are slowly being corrected though, a bunch of them have been fixed with the bugfix patch yesterday. I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem for long.

    I really hope so.
