  • It seems nobody here knows what tunneling is, and everyone is arguing rather than discussing...

Tunneling is chasing the same player throughout the entire game until they are dead. Sometimes it's the weak player, or the most annoying player. For me it's the player that is injured and/or isn't good at looping. Whatever the case, it's a tactic that complaining about it isn't going to stop it from happening.

Now, I hate face camping. Proxy camping is normal, as some killers are built around that. But constantly hitting a player on hook and face camping needs more BP loss or something because that's just annoying. But again, not against the rules.

There is also no need to tell people they suck as killer because that's just going to make more killers face camp and tunnel you.

There are plenty of survivor perks to combat tunneling. All killers have is gen regression perks anymore due to gen rushing.

I ask survivor mains like yourself to try and play killer and see what it's like before complaining about tunneling.

  • Sounds like a connection/internet issue. I've been playing all day with no issues on Series X and 1 Gbps internet. Definitely keep an eye on it.

But this game isnt a comp game, this game takes very little skill. There is nothing to be gained from this game out of all games.

It is when you add SBMM. That's what competitive games use.

My point is that competitive players tend to be the saltiest/hateful. They'll all find in SBMM games.

  • Look at games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, Battlefield, ect. It's all the competitive games that have toxic communities.

  • I'll say from a killer perspective, the blinding feature is horrible on a person's eyes. Rather the screen go black than bright white/yellow.

Oh, and how does one blind Pyramid Head? He has no eyes.

Flashlights need fixed. This can be a lawsuit as there is no epilepsy warning at the beginning of the game. I know I can't click a real flashlight that fast.

  • Dead Hard isn't OP. I always time it wrong with latency issues anyways. I use other Exhaustion perks instead.

  • They do, sometimes. Right now there are some instances that they have been listening... Like fixing Nurse, fixing Boil Over after horribly ruining it, ect.

My biggest concern is when they are told SBMM doesn't work in a 4v1 game, and are given plenty of evidence as to why (uneven teams for example), they still try to turn a horror game into a competitive one.

Problem is they would have e to rework a lot because they put so much time and energy into trying to make SBMM work, when we all know it doesn't in a non-competitive game.

I don't. Cuz I know the devs think it's legit. It's a waste of MY time, having to report smth the devs don't care about.

But it still doesn't mean it's not frowned upon.

And if your magic button for preventing camping is to not get caught, then that's the most childish thing I've read on this forum until this day.

It's only frowned upon by you and others who haven't figured out how to outplay a camper. Like I said, this is how the game is to be played. Sorry you think the killer's should just let survivors escape. Maybe someday you'll get over it? Or just continue to complain about things you can't control. That's up to you.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

It's an abuse of power in which killers can hold a game hostage and not let one player actually play the game for the entirety of the match.

Back when the game was more fair, they were criticized of this behavior. After SBMM and with killer mains crying that the only real way to "win" (don't even know what that means anymore lol) is to camp and tunnel, these guys are now creating their own alibis to justify themselves too.

Grabbing players is fine, but it's the people who abuse them that's the problem. Sadly in 2022, you can't tell them to piss off without enraging all the killer mains.

Camping is a legit tactic and not an abuse of power or holding the game hostage. I hope you aren't wasting the devs time reporting campers. Kills/escapes =skill. Don't get caught.

  • I never run hexes when I play killer because they get cleansed immediately. If anything is unbalanced, it's the totem system for sure. Survivors get unlimited boons while killers get their hexes cleansed or blessed over immediately.

  • I saw someone use it last night in a match. They didn't put it anywhere that was important.

I've seen people use it near a gen that is almost near completion, a gen that we should focus on, or to regroup the team for heals.

Last night's game, it just sat in a spot almost like it was added scenery. And it sat there the entire match... Halfway through I just ignored it. It wasn't near any gens and it was out in the open, near the middle of the map. That was a first. But yeah, I know what it's for and it can be quite useful especially for solo queue if everyone knows what its for, including the survivor using it. 🤦‍♂️

I can tolerate one miss. I do it sometimes too. Though when it’s the second, third I like “come on! Surely you are trolling now”. I always stop and point at them at this point.

I had a match last night where I had to do this! Some Meg kept missing skill checks, like on the 5th one I got up, pointed at them and left to find my own gen to work on. Killer saw me leaving, was going to chase me but then she missed another skill check so he went after her. Let's just say, RIP Meg...

I could be doing something wrong, but Freddy currently feels like a weaker Clown (in chase) with the added bonus of a teleport.

He seems to be pretty rare, nowadays, so this could be a quick QoL buff to incentivize picking him (he'd probably still be weak :( )

Use Dream Pallets. You can thank me later.

Buying cosmetics isn't paying bills. It's throwing away money. If anything I'd say that's what's hurting the game. I'd rather they take that budget for hiring an art department and use that money to hire better programmers.

I can't say much for their programmers, but they definitely need more testers. Honestly, that's an issue with almost every game developer out there these days. At least they let the players test out features, but they have to also be open to hearing criticism from their consumers (us) and be open to the critique we bring to the table. Can't make a game and expect the consumers to just be happy with the product.

Regardless, the game isn't balanced and it's survivor sided only because all survivors play the same. It's easier to learn survivor than it is whichever killer you choose to play as since they all play differently. Then you have 4vs1...

More testing, more ideas, collaborate with thr community, don't rush things. Those are my suggestions.

  • I laugh and tell myself "someone's mad". Then I wither wait for a rescue or I just laught to my death.

Since I'm on Xbox, I don't have an end game chat. However, if I see the killer is also Xbox player, I message them GG with a heart and smiley face emoji. If they respond back with "U MAD BRO?!", then just block them.

Finally, start next match and move on. Some people are just sad and unhappy individuals. Others just blowing off steam. One actually admitted to being a 13 year old player. I'm an adult and it would be very wrong for me to get peed off that a 13 year old camped me and hit me on hook over and over.

Just laugh it off and move on.

  • There is also the corner room with the TV that has a hole that drops into the bathroom. I can't find the video, but yeah, lol. I'm terrible at this technique regardless.

  • Fun fact... Pyramid Head isn't wearing a mask.

Not a bad idea. Since the devs don’t want a second mode we could get some modifier type modes as compensation instead. Sure it’s unbalanced but dbd as a whole is so I don’t see the issue

In the last Q&A, they said they were open to other game modes. I think that would definitely keep me around. I'm currently just getting bored with the sweaty, meta gameplay.

Did the devs change their thoughts on a second game mode? I'm all for a mode that is more survival/horror based with less meta/sweat.

  • As a console player, it's difficult to report hackers. I reported 2 recently in one match, but because of how tedious it is to report them, I give up. The Devs need to address this. Not the players.

  • I saw someone do this in the Gideon Meat Plant, so I tried it. Killer literally stood there staring at me shaking their head.

    I don't trust this technique. 😐

  • I stopped relying on other solo survivors and stuck with a stealth build just to get the escape.

To many times have I been in your shoes and I got fed up with it so I changed my approach.

  • Yeah, the reporting system needs improvements. On console, I can't even provide video or picture evidence of the issue. Then, when I report on my phone or laptop, I have to type in my player cloud ID which is tedious...

But it's also not like I have to report things all the time. The hardest was reporting 2 cheaters because I needed video evidence. Fortunately I was survivor and let the killer sacrifice me so I could switch over to Twitch and record while I spectated.

Definitely needs some work but I wouldn't hate on the devs for it.

Sad that most survivors feel so entitled to escapes that they can't contrive new strategies such as you do. Sad!

Personally as someone who has all survivor adept achievements, I haven't been scared of a Bubba ever since I got to 100% pallet stun effectiveness against his power.

Funny thing is I'm in solo queue all the time... No SWF. We're learning. 🙂

  • @Yatol said:

too abusable, there is multiple easily accessible tools to kill your connection, some ISP even give you the tool as soon as they set up your internet.

Didnt think of that... But I guess as long as players aren't being banned for lost connection/shutting off your own internet for lack of emotional management and immaturity issues. Thats my only concern, because it really can't discern the two.

  • I'm excited for Elden Ring. Got it pre-ordered and downloaded ready for release date.

Just recently finished Dark Souls 3 again and watched all the early game play to make sure I'm ready. I'll probably disappear from society for a while. I can't wait!

  • I had a Bubba face camp me yesterday. Team got me off the hook. We all escaped. Players are finding strategies to combat face camping and I'm loving it.

  • I've never been punished for killer or other survivor to disconnect. In fact, I've always gotten bonus bloodpoints. Definitely sounds like a bug that needs fixed. Yelling at them won't get things done. They will also need you to submit a bug report, which can be done in the In-game options under the support tab.

The game shouldn't ban players for any disconnect issue. No game that I know of does that. Definitely another bug that needs to be reported.

  • Proof survivor mains will pick on and bully killers sounds better. Then you come here and shame them to the community. Better yet, you group all killers into this idea that they should be hated.

Maybe you should play killer and see what it's like before you go judging every other player thay plays killer? Or just stop with the whole us vs. them mentality. It's toxic.

  • @NemmyMan3000 said:

I havent seen people talk about this map and its crazy survivor sided layout, but can we talk about how many pallets there are in the map itself? You have a pallet in every drop off location, you have like 2 pallets behind the steps and its just a straight line of pallets and god loops. Its even worse when there are barely any hooks on the bottom level so its just kinda unplayable imo.

Oh, wow... When I do play killer, thats one of my favorite maps. Insta-4K.

Same goes for Midwhich and Police Station.

I play better with indoor maps. Wish there were more.

  • If you think that's bad, you should see Ghostface t-bag... On your survivors corpse.

    True story. 😐

  • If the game can detect your ping, it can obviously detect a real internet issue vs just someone just leaving the match via the menu.

There was literally an internet outage last night in my area during my last game. The game froze and then I received an internet error message in game. I just logged back into the game today now that the internet in my area is restored, and queued for a game with no penalty. That's good because I shouldn't be penalized for losing my internet connection midgame. I can understand a 5 minute wait. Heck, I had to wait all night and morning to have my internet fixed so no big deal.

But what I'm trying to say is there is a huge difference between lost connection and the usual rage quit by leaving the game via options menu. Leaving the game should be penalized, not lost connection.

  • Tired for playing against SWF bully squads. I don't have to sweat as much playing survivor, feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack becauae my heart is pounding after a match. I'm 35 years old living with PTSD and I don't need the extra stress because my health overall isn't in great shape since the pandemic as I may already suffer from symptoms of long covid.

So yeah, I'll play a game or two once a week but I mostly play survivor and even that's getting old and boring. I just continue to play until Elden Ring comes out later this week. Nothing else to really do till then.

Was hoping Sadako would be a refresher but still looks like sweaty, looping gameplay like every other match out there.

  • Heres what i suggest as survivor... just hide all game till everyone else is dead and find hatch with left behind or map. GG ez.

If you're in a SWF, just tell everyone where killer is all the time, click flashlights, blind, stun with locker, ect. Carry the weakest, least skilled member of the team to the gates if you have to. GG ez.

Bring a bully squad and wait for killer to d/c. GG ez.

In short, no. You don't need skill as survivor, especially when every other survivor can carry you through the game. As long as you escape that's a win for you and your MMR goes up.

The fact that the game tries to balance 1 survivor against the killer is why survivor is easier and why most players play survivor. It's 4v1, so balance should be 4v1, not 1v1v1v1v1. But that's how the game is made so you have to adapt until changes are made, if they are ever made.

  • I mostly play survivor and all I ever get is killer daily rituals. I decided to just stop worrying about it because I'll never get them done.

there's a scene where some dude tells bubba that he'll be canceled if he tries anything.

or something, anyway. my friends watched it, I didn't. heard it's meh.

It's in the movie. I watched it yesterday.

  • As solo survivor, I can confirm this to be true.

But I also have to judge whether I can save a teammate or just get ready to find the hatch.

Can't always relie on your teammates.

  • In the past month, I had 1 game with 2 cheaters in it. Fortunately we were all survivors and I was able to record the video and send a report.

They were both flying through walls, under the map and up in the sky to heal. Then one got hooked and tried to take the game hostage but failed. The other cheater spawned the hatch right in front of them and escaped.

But that was 1 game in a month. Of course we all know around December and early January there were tons of cheaters. It was almost every other game I played. I think they managed to stop a lot of them.

  • I like this idea. Maybe even a new game mode that implements a more immersive, non-competitive, scarier style if gameplay.

The devs said they are open ti new game modes. I really hope they are reading this discussion because it's a great idea. Some people just want to play a horror game for just that... Horror. I'm one of those people, and right now, the game isn't scary.

  • As DieHardDiva would say, "Someone forgot to do totems".

Not your fault they didn't destroy all the totems. Just say GG and move on. Nit worth entertaining their bad behavior.

  • I've never played old Freddy. Current Freddy I'm pretty good at. I average 2 to 3 kills per game. But I really can't say much about the old Freddy, but the current one is fine. But that's fro. My perspective.

The one thing I noticed though is that the videos of the old game.... God they looked so scary. What happened? The maps are so bright now with practically no fog.

If they bring back anything, bring back darker, scarier maps with more fog. That's what this game is lacking. It isn't scary like it should be.

I firmly believe a large amount of survivors do not want a PVP game but a co-op PVE game, and they get angry when people play in a way that removes their PVE Co-op experience. They feel they should win because that's how it works in a co-op game. They feel they are supposed to win. The fact they expect the killer to play "just for the chase" and not try to win is further evidence they view the killer as an NPC, and not another player.

Agreed. Imagine if the killer was an NPC. The killer would definitely tunnel, and if programmed to camp, would definitely camp.

As for survivors, it would depend on the programming for each one.

I will say this... A lot of PVP games have salty, toxic players. Look at COD or Battlefield. Players complain all the time about camping. Even with snipers. But it's a strategy that actually gets a lot of kills. But the players complain because they think it shouldn't be allowed. In reality, if it wasn't allowed, then the devs would program the game to not allow it.

  • News Flash, killers are going to play how they want to play and so are survivors.

Players need to accept it and move on. Camping, tunnelling, slugging, flashlight saves, DH, DS, pallets, loops, ect are all fair game.

Learn to adapt to the playstyle, keep complaing and never get better, or quit.

Fighting, bullying and arguing isn't going to fix anything and clearly there are no changes in the works. We as the player base just have to accept this is how the game is now.

  • It's a carbon copy of the police station from the actual game, along with several shortcuts to make it easier to get around than the actual RE2 map.

If you haven't played RE2, you will definitely get lost. I love it because it's like a labyrinth. Sure, I can understand that to be frustrating, but rage quitting is seriously lame. Learn the map. Get experience on the map. Otherwise, killers and survivors won't get any better at the map.

It's one of my favorites too.

  • I would love a simplified version of this for android mobile. I love statistics because they help me improve and right now not knowing my MMR or how good/bad I am is frustrating.

But this is really good and got me thinking of how can something like this, maybe more simpler, be implemented on a mobile device since I don't always have my laptop in front of me and I'm on console.

But great stuff! Would be better if these stats were in game though. But cool nonetheless.

  • Just let the killer hit you? If you get slugged, timer stops. Hooked, timer still is stopped. If the Pig just stands over you after slugging, then yeah, there needs to be something done about that. I'm finding to many killers doing that nowadays.

I don't have a solution but the Devs should come up with something for face camping.

But camping on a puzzle isn't really anything to be upset over, unless you all get slugged and then bleed out. I'm sure if the community helped with ideas, the devs could look into it? I don't have answers but complaining and getting salty over it won't fix the issue.

  • I would make it so there is a cooldown after it's put out by the killer so they can't just put it back up over and over in the same spot.

Some player builds can quickly put one up and then the healing can be extremely fast. But that would require a lot of changes to perks and add-ons. A simple cooldown timer after killer snuffs it out, if killer can just destroy it, or even just make it last for a certain length before going out on its own... Even maybe tokens to how many times it can be used because right now it seems like survivors can keep it up indefinitely.

No killer perk allows for continuous 1 hit knockdowns or MORIs. Same should apply to survivors.

  • I just played a game where the killer was terrible, but managed to get one person down and just stood over them most of the game. Then we got her up, finished all 5 gens and prepped the gate, all for the killer to have Noed and hit me. Killer was going to stand over me till I crawled away and they got me on the hook last minute and face camped me the rest of the game. Then they messaged me (on Xbox) to rub it in my face.

This is why I play this game, less and less. I win most games as survivor in solo queue because I don't have SWF and I'm not much of a mic user to begin with, but if this is supposed to be high MMR killers, then why would anyone want to play with bullies.

I also play some killers, mainly Pig, Pyrqmid Head, Myers and Freddy, and I'm pretty good at them too, but not once have I face camped. Proxy camped, of course. But not staring a hooked survivor in the face and hitting them repeatedly. Yeah, I've faced off against bully SWF a few times but since I don't always play killer, it's not as big for me.

I guess my point is that if winning games/high MMR means playing against bullies, then I want no part of DBD. It's not fun, and is very detrimental to people with mental health issues. I really wish the Devs would consider something to combat this.

I'm always open for discussion on ideas on this.
