  • Sadako is useless now that the Dredge is out. Just like Freddy. No reason to play either of them and they are licensed killers. Licensed killers, IMO, should at least be B tier or higher killers. I really, really, reallllly hope the devs buff their licensed killers like Sadako and Freddy. Otherwise, new players won't buy the content and nobody will play them. I know I won't and I was excited when Sadako first came out only to find she was so easy to counter. My excitement and fun lasted about a few weeks with her. It's seriously a shame especially being licensed and all.

  • Depends. How many followers do they have? If they have less than content creators that of TrU3Ta1ent, Dowsey, and every Fog Whisperer, then not really. Most of the community follows who's popular, and definitely follows Fog Whisperers. So stick to the number of followers when deciding if they are going to affect the community as a whole. So far, I follow several well known content creators and none of them accuse anyone of cheating. Sure, they may have suspicions during or after a match but I never see them report the player or call them out unless they have actual hard evidence of it.

So basically to answer your question... Not really.

  • I had it equipped every game yesterday and saw it trigger maybe 2 times. Survivors were also slow vaulting at full health while I had the remnant out to anti-loop and it was worthless. I couldn't move fast enough so I just figured it's either one or the other. It might be good with other killers, but not with the Dredge. The Dredge needs other killer perks to be good. There should be a discussion somewhere here talking about killer builds for the Dredge because none of his perks actually work well with him.

  • The devs have stated that they balance the game based on 1v1v1v1v1 mechanics. So 1 survivor should be able to win against the killer if they have the right build that works for them.

Like the OP, I'm terrible at looping. But I found a build that works for me to get away from a chase as fast as possible when I can. Haven't lost a match since, minus a few here and there where all other 3 survivors died already. And since MMR is still a thing, the more wins means the more skilled survivors you get matched with.

  • Yes. If I want to play a competitive only game, I'll go play something like Fortnite.

Base design is decent but doll dredge is a bloodborne/RE Village hybrid masterpiece.

It reminds me more of the Mannequin Monster from the Silent Hill 2 movie mixed with the Resident Evil 8 dolls.

  • It's not the obligation of other survivors to rescue you. I learned this a while ago. Gens are number 1 priority. You looped him for 3 gens? Was he tunneling only you or were you antagonizing him, which then would be deserving. I know I don't go for the save if a survivor spends the game trolling the killer. I do gens and escape. So context is needed here because if he was tunneling you, then yeah I'd hope they'd come save me. If not, oh well. Maybe they just weren't skilled enough to take the risk. But I don't slam other players for refusing to save me from the hook especially in solo queue.

  • The movies didn't do the games justice. They also didn't follow the lore of the town, the people, ect. I mean, they're okay on their own, but like in another universe. Dahlia was actually a good person and not a villain. Pyramid Head was just there for the likes. Same with the nurses. Could of been better IMO.

  • Neither because I don't let what they say or do bother me. Except macro clicking flashlights. K or S, that is annoying and I hate it. But that's outside of your question.

  • @JohnWick1654 said:

First game against new killer, and I got tunneled, wow.

This game just keeps getting more and more fun.

I got tunneled and camped for 4 gens. Bled out. It happens. Don't let one bad experience ruin it all for you.

  • I'm sticking with Judge Dredge. Can't change my mind. 😁

  • According to all Silent Hill sources, this is who Pyramid Head is:

PH is a manifestation of James Sunderland's guilt and desire for punishment. The town took that and fashioned it after Valtiel, God's attendant. Mary/Maria in the game was fashioned after God. So Pyramid Head serves Mary/Maria, Valtiel serves God. Same being.

But in Silent Hill 3, God was defeated by Heather Mason/Alessa Gillespie. Once again, same person, two different beings.

Now, coming back to DBD, you are correct. Pyramid Head/Valtiel is now the Entity's attendant.

I guess the idea came from how PH could kill survivors after the second hook state and cage them. But the reality is this... If you die in the Entity's realm, you are still trapped there. Any form of death is a sacrifice to the Entity. What you say is completely true. They work in a symbiotic relation. and since PH is the Entity's attendant, PH get's more power, i.e. the ability to kill at second hook state. Also, the Entity feeds of the hope of survivors, not whether they are hooked or not.

So the idea that Pyramid Head works against the Entity is completely wrong, based on both Silent Hill and DBD Lore. I do hope one day they get the rights to a Valtiel cosmetic for PH. Maybe then that can connect more dots for people.

Does garden of joy even have an offering? I went through plenty of bloodwebs yesterday and never saw one.

Yes, it does. I got one yesterday after going through 4 bloodwebs.

  • I too noticed that the maps don't rotate or change up normally without an offering. It's been happening for a while now. It'd be nice if the RNG for maps was a bit more random.

  • @CrimsonMothKing said:

That would be so cool, and because of how the Dredge's power works, it would reference the teleportation ability that spiders have in real life when you look away for 1 second.

I was trying to think of how it's powers would be incorporated, but you hit the nail on the head. Reminds me of last week when I was playing the game and a spider in my apartment came down in front of my face. I went to grab a tissue to kill it and it was gone, nowhere to be found. Sadly I couldn't sit down for an hour after that with all the lights on, lol. Glad you thought of that!

I find his dark mode annoying, feels like a filter opposed to actually beaing night,

when im on Eyrie it REALLY feels like a filter

that saying it makes it harder to loop

could tone down the screams tho

There is a filter that they need to tone down. Part of the filter that blacks out the edges of the screen (called a vignette) needs seriously nerfed or removed because at some angles I can't even see my own survivor depending on the map and part of map I'm on. Everything else about Nightfall is perfect.

I use headphones and the screams don't sound too loud to me. In fact, when the Dredge downs someone, or another survivor screams for whatever reason during Nightfall, it sounds like the screams sound like they are underwater and muffled, really weird and I hope they fix it. But the headset I'm using, I don't hear them as loud, like for example when playing the Plague, the chants are so loud you can't hear anything and it's really loud (needs toned down on killer side especially). Also, the screams get louder as Nightfall get's closer to ending. I like that because it's a way to tell me it's almost over without having to look at the side of my screen which is already hard to see with the vignette filter I mentioned about. But yeah, definitely needs some toning down with the filter they put on.

  • @PNgamer said:

Ok, 2 of his 3 perks are not really good to use, but that doesn't matter at the moment. ( only my opinion ) The darkness customization is much better than on the PTB and I really like his sound effects. He has everything a good killer should have. Chase, deception potential, map control and if you get it right, a jumpscare or two at the beginning. Nightfall is the perfect blend of sounds and visually very well designed. The music also fits very well. Finally something creepy (I would have liked to see music like this in Ghostface).

What do you think of it?

I feel 2 out of 3 are good actually and can be useful on other killers. The 3rd might be good with a Nurses Calling (the one with exhaustion while healing). But it is definitely a fun killer.

  • @Leidenschaft90 said:

Apart from the million pallets on Garden of Joy and the size of the map, most of the windows in the house and especially the window at the little greenhouse are infinites and broken af. There is hardly a chance to outplay them when you're not a Nurse.

Aren't you guys testing these maps before you release them? The unbalancing of many maps and the RNG of map spawns are the biggest problem in DbD right now apart from the desync / hit validation imo.

I hope you will rework the map soon and balance the RNG in the game.

P.S.: I play survivor / killer on a 75 / 25 ratio, so I'm main survivor, and on highest MMR

I'm survivor main, probably not high MMR, have played against a high MMR TTV player on this map, and it is not broken. There's some good loops, despite not set up like older maps so they're harder to predict (still have to learn the map), plenty of lockers, same amount of windows/exits as what you'd see in Haddonfield or Coldwind, Greenhouse reminds me of another map... It's like all the other maps merged into one. It literally just came out yesterday so it will take time getting used to. But the map is fine and complaining about it this early isn't going to do anything.

  • As a survivor main, I see killers tunnel because either they just aren't good, or mostly because someone is being toxic. Players who spam their flashlight typically get tunneled. Overall, killers need more loving. Right now, the game is so unbalanced in favor of survivors. What I mean by this is that they can gen rush without gen rushing addons or perks. Also, survivors have plenty of movement speed increase perks, it's easy to get away from the killers. Then you have pallet loops, not that many anti-loop killers, just overall unbalance in our favor against killers. AND THEN we have a community where most players are survivor, and the majority get's favored out of fear of losing customers.

I can say right now, the Dredge is the right direction when it comes to killers. It's tough to play against. Anti-loop, map control and a passive ability that obscures vision. Most survivors are good against killers, until someone brings up tunnelling, camping and slugging. The only way to resolve this is to make tougher killers so they don't have to do these things to win a match here or there. AND I think the devs are looking in this direction (at least I hope). If they aren't, then we will continue to argue about tunnelling, slugging and camping, and how this side is better than the other side.

These are just my thoughts because I keep seeing the same discussions with little to no other thoughts or ideas outside of what was said here. I guess I'm trying to think outside the box on this one. Hope it helps.

I mean its dumb and absolutely nonsensical Auras stay up on nightfall. Its supposed to be a timed blindness event effect for Survs yet auras still up and can make a huge difference, extreme case scenario Window of opportunity completely negates the intended purpose of it.

As someone who uses Windows of Opportunity, I find it to be worse during Nightfall, especially on the new map since I don't know it well enough. Overall, I've literally ran into walls trying to get to a window or pallet and gotten slugged. So it doesn't really make Nightfall any easier.

  • I heard someone say Judge Dredge before... Didn't want to take credit but wanted to share. That's what I started calling it since I heard it.

  • @RisingTron said:

I don't mind the darkness surrounding us. But that small circle around us should be a BIT brighter. Just enough so that the areas that are too dark are at least manageable. I like not being able to see, I love the atmosphere. But being trapped on the stairs in MacMillan because I can't see which direction is down sucks lol

That's called a vignette and I agree. I hate vignette filters, especially used in games because it just makes it hard to see anything nearby. But the darkness distance, the Dredge not glowing anymore, and the dimming of the lights is good enough. They need to either remove the vignette or do what you said, which I'd prefer if possible. I think this would fix the issue with some maps just being too dark during nightfall where you can't see the gen in front of you even under lighting effects.

  • The Dredge took him.

Is anyone getting really glared eyes from trying to see in the dark? Usually able to play quite a substantial amount of matches with my friends but we have all had to end early tonight due to this lol.

Nope. I'm on console and it seems fine. Xbox Series X btw. Sure, the new map is dark, and some others get dark during the power but it's not hurting my eyes. It could be your TV or monitor settings. But Nightfall reminds me of playing survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. You're not supposed to see well in the dark. Sure, they could tweak the screen filter they use but it's a minor adjustment. I don't have to strain at all.

  • It's abilities are similar to the spirit (phase teleport, remnant), Freddy/Onryo (teleport), and a passive darkness that builds over time (faster with hits/hooks/kills). It has both map control and anti-loop with additional disorientation ability (like clown). I guess that's the best way to explain it.

The difference with it's husk vs the Spirit is that it can interact/attack after leaving it's husk behind.

It is fairly pitch black in some places, like you can't see the survivor at all on the stairs, maybe the black outline if it's contrasting with something brighter.

On a side note, the window seem really broken infintes unless there is some doorways I'm missing.

Thank you for clarifying. Easier to see with a video and I haven't even gotten to play the map yet, just seen streams and such so it was quick inside, but the second video I can definitely see what you mean. They just have to add more light sources is all. I get they're using the new Unreal Engine 5 and testing it out with the new maps. Always good to give feedback on this stuff. More lighting would be nice there.

I'm pretty sure I've seen perks spawn like that before but it's extremely rare

Same. Seen it for some time now. Can't remember when I started seeing that but I'm guessing last year.

  • Has anyone tried using a flashlight while the Dredge's nightfall? I'm asking because I wonder if it makes it easier to see when maneuvering? You should also be able to see the Dredge because it glows.

Also, is this happening on PC, console, or both? I ask these because I'm sure the devs will ask them as well.

  • That's not really pitch black and bring a flashlight. I seen someone use one and it lit up in front of the survivor.

I'm also on Series X, so it might be your TV settings. Mine are set to default (Sony X950H) and typically the TV has really good blacks/darks. But I can still see some outlines of furniture like I see in the new Haddonfield rework map.

Just some ideas because I don't have this issue.

  • I played one game so far as the Dredge... So much fun. I lost but that's okay. It's a fun killer and first time playing it, was in a bit of a rush. Can't wait to actually relax and play later. But I'm glad they released this update.

Same. Yeah, it was perfect timing with my lunch break and I'm used to testing things at my job anyways so I said screw it. I'll eat my lunch as I work and test this out. It's just something I love to do anyways. But yeah, Glad you were able to get this reported as soon as you did as well. Seems your discussion is the main one they're looking at. *Fingers crossed*

My bad, I wasn't thinking and just posted this in the general then I realized there's a technical section. Do you know of the other ticket just in case this one goes so I can find the info?

No biggie. I think you both created them at the same time because they were literally next to each other in the discussions section.

  • Happening on both consoles. There's also another ticket so one of these will get closed.

  • @Mandy said:

    Are you all on PS5?

This issue is happening on both Playstation and Xbox per several people on Dowsey twitch stream. I'm on Xbox and haven't downloaded yet but I asked if it's happening on Xbox and other's have said yes.

  • All killers should be scary. For the Dredge specifically, survivors shouldn't be able to see past a certain distance. A fog filter would be a quick fix for this, like in the original Silent Hill games, but make it black instead of gray. Take away the vignette (we should still be able to see our characters), and keep the Dredge glowing so when he does come out of the blackness, you know he's there and you're running. I really hope they do this because that's how it should have been done in the first place. It's not hard. Other games do it all the time.

DBD is a horror game or why else would there be Freddy, Myers and Leatherface, Pinhead, Pyramid Head, ect...

Also, I'm on console. I played games like Resident Evil 2 Remake, and it was dark. Games like Silent Hill, ect... Dark. Stop using consoles as a copout excuse to have an advantage against the killer. I expect the Dredge to be similar to these games. Heck, I expected Freddy's dream world to be similar, but it's not.

As for the Dredge, it shouldn't have it's visibility obscured at all. Or if it does, make all survivors have killer instinct triggered in it's terror radius. But as far as I'm concerned, survivors shouldn't see past a certain meter threshold. It's fine that they can see clearly in the range. With the system, I think that'd be a perfect fix. Almost like a flashlight automatically turns on around them

If you've ever played Dungeons and Dragons on Roll 20, that's probably the best explanation I can give. Picture of what I'm talking about below. Each character can only see so far in the dark environment, but what they can see is completely visible. I hope this explains what I think the Dredge should be like.

    image.png

  • The dream world needs more... Fake gens, lockers, other things that you wouldn't see if you were awake. Even a hallucination of Freddy or other survivors in the game would be neat just to keep them on edge. And for those who are awake, they shouldn't be able to see or hear Freddy at all. Most games I play as or against Freddy, everyone is just asleep or in between because being awake doesn't matter. There needs to be some way to keep survivors waking up, and maybe in the beginning of the match keep that longer so it doesn't feel like the changes become killer sided. He's the Nightmare for a reason. Make it so the dream world is a nightmare to play in.

  • Freddy needs a whole rework. I'll try to put his snares down and they won't show up but after I let go of the button to set them, they'll set, just not where I want them to and then I do it again and they'll show up and set where I want it but it's next to the one I just set so it get's all screwed up. I usually stick to the fake pallets but sometimes I'll just do snares, even though they don't do anything really. I wish they'd just make the pallets, maybe even gens and/or lockers fake too would be nice. Just ways to keep survivors on the edge. Even better, add a fake Freddy in the dream world walking around as an add-on? They can do so many things with this but overall, he needs a total rework.

  • That isn't holding players hostage. A good example of holding players hostage is a hacker survivor using the hook hack so that they cannot be killed or letting the game end by any other means so the only option the other players have to leave the game is to literally leave or D/C. Another example is the killer body blocking a survivor in a corner where the survivor cannot move and the only option again is for the player(s) to leave game or D/C, being penalized in the process.

I've learned that in order to not be slugged or camped, is to not get caught. I now have a sufficient build that works most of the time to stay away from the killer. Find one that works for you and you should be good. Or, have perks to combat being slugged or strategies to being camped because there are ways to get out of these situations. And don't tell me I'm survivor/killer sided because I play both and have learned strategies for both sides. I'm not the best player in the game, but even I know that there are ways to get out of these situations or never get into them to begin with. In the end, it's a game and there are plenty of perks and strategies available. Maybe you haven't found yours yet, but if you keep trying with different builds and strategies, I'm sure you'll find one that works for you. Mine took me months to figure it out. I'm terrible at looping. Now I have a build that not only helps with looping, but get's me as far from the killer as possible without taking a hit. Don't give up and don't feel bad if you fail. It takes time to get better, even when killers have changed their strategies. It sucks, but I'm sure you'll find a way. I mean, I did and I have less faith in myself than anyone else playing this game. You got this.

  • It's great with M1 killers. Like with Freddy or Onryo. Hit, teleport, hit again.

  • @ArchAbhor said:

This is a very annoying thing I see like half the matches I play with randoms. They wait till you're there and try to hop off of hook or hop off in your face. So annoying. Wasting my time trying to risk a save on them, and if I were to be chased away after they attempt they're almost always going to go to stage 2. I could have just stayed on or found a gen to work on, or help another teammate.

I find that most of the matches I'm in, nobody wants to come rescue me on hook. I figure, well do gens at least but no. They're to busy trolling the killer. So I have to have a build that keeps me from being hooked. Still trying to work out the details, but I assure you not everyone is doing this. At least not me.

  • I don't mind people talking about reworking perk because they are either too powerful or too weak (most are weak) but the complaining in the community need to stop. It's discouraging to see how divisive we all get over these topics. We all have opinions on each perk, but we need to stop saying players suck because they use NOED or DH (I never really win with both anyways). Everyone has a different playstyle and I'm anticipating the perk reworks so they are all balanced better. But this whole survivor vs killer divisiveness, especially over perks, isn't really helping. Can we all agree to disagree, share our opinions on perks and not attack each other?

Like I said, everytime I run NOED, someone destroys the hex before I even get a hit. But I found other perks for killer that work for me. Same goes for DH. I'm terrible at timing when to use it. Thats why I use Lithe and sometimes other exhaustion perks depending on my build. I think there is definitely lack of balance in perks, but we don't need to put each other down because for some it's easier to use than others. Give thr devs time to fix this. There are a ton of perks and it will take time.

  • It's not an issue when I play killer because I expect everyone to have it and I know how to counter it.

As survivor, I'm terrible with the timing so I can't use it. I found Lithe to be more effective for my playstyle.

  • Since I've leveld up almost everyone to 40 or higher, I'll probably prestige my favorite survivors/killers to p3 if possible by the release date just to get the bonus they're giving out for it. I'm not really playing the game at the moment until all these fixes go into place.

You're not losing anything, those who've not prestiged will still get the perks unlocked on the other characters and be given the same levels of perks in relation to what they've unlocked - this is the catch-up system in the blog post.

The only thing that's not available is the reward for the players who have P3'd their characters.

Thanks for clarifying, and sorry. It's frustrating that this wasn't explained on the Anniversary stream and had me and several others worried we'd lose our perks because we weren't prestige 3.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/324032/can-we-please-have-prestige-clarification-its-the-only-confusing-thing-about-the-stream

The distinct P3 reward will be given to those who've reached P3 prior to the update going live...they must have actually reached P3 on their character/s prior. Whilst yes we are taking consideration into those who've not P3'd and got all perks (as explained in the blog post here: https://news.deadbydaylight.com/en/news/Prestige_Progression ) that is separate to the "distinct reward".

The reward is not going to be a cosmetic item - it's not the return of Legacy, I want to manage players expectations around that right now. As soon as I can go into details about what players will receive, I will be more than happy to, but just want to confirm that this will not be a clothing/charm item.

Well, I quit DBD for good then. Thanks for ruining my experience. I haven't prestiged any of my characters over stupid cosmetics and now I'll lose all my teachables learned on all my survivors and killers. Bad decision. I'll be enjoying Evil Dead where they released a better balanced 4v1, where I won't have to worry about losing anything I've earned already. Have fun losing more players.
