Sorry, I was in a bad mood after reading all the unconstructive comments about why NO.

It's fine. I wasn't trying to personally attack you in any way. I was honestly trying to be silly because of the negativity here. I guess it came across wrong, so I apologize. I just think the backlash in itself is going to be more difficult to deal with. It's also like trying to detect if someone disconnects verses unplugging their modem (which people actually do) when they decide to d/c. The penalty for d/cing is fine right now as it is, and the same should be for those who leave a lobby. And I'd rather someone leave the lobby rather than in the middle of the game. Just my thoughts anyways. I hope you feel better and don't let those bullies get you down. 😊

part of it is the competitive nature of the game. both sides like to win and when frustrated, we as humans will accuse the other of X. Im not immune to this. I never get upset on survivor but i do get very stressed out as a killer and when frustration hits ill start viewing a survivor team as a bully or toxic because i am upset and not because they are in fact doing anything "wrong"

    I completely agree.

  • Most of my dailies end up being for killer despite I main survivor. It sucks because everyday I rotate one of them just hoping to get a survivor daily and I usually don't. They could definitely fix this to where we get a set amount for killer and an amount for survivor.

  • I'm decent with Nurse until I get an indoor map like RCPD. Then I end up teleporting into the wrong rooms, wrong floors, getting stuck in-between things, ect. She definitely could use some loving.

  • Honestly, most of those complaining about camping and tunnelling typically try to antagonize the killer in the first place. As a survivor main, I see it all the time. Spam clicking their flashlights and running around while I do gens and destroy totems on the way. There may be a few games here or there where nobody antagonizes the killer and they do it, but that's rare like you said. Sometimes players get unlucky and they get chased again. It happens but it's not tunnelling. And endgame camping is a viable strategy. Same as the other 3 survivors rushing the hook to save their friend and taking hits one at a time. That can actually be done anytime the killer face camps.

In general, gamers everywhere complain about camping. You see it in COD, Battlefield, Fortnite, and others all the time. If it's a viable strategy to help you win, do it. Camping isn't going to go away and neither will tunnelling, which with the right perks or other builds can be countered... And you don't need DS to counter tunnelling either. I don't use it. But this TED talk is spot on. People are going to complain regardless of what's done. Best to just not let it bother you (not you personally, just in general).

  • So let's just penalize survivors even further by forcing them to sit on the hook and not have a chance to get off or leave earlier because their teammates aren't doing anything to help save them. I'll never understand why people here just want to penalize players more than what they already get penalized for, or for things that don't require penalizing. So yeah, just make the game less fun. Makes sense I guess.

Wow so smart... Fixing your cat is also easy, just remove your cat and watch cat pictures and videos on the internet. This is coming from someone with a cat and IT background.

Wow, thank you for being so rude. And sorry you don't see how easy it is to just fix match-making. Not all of us can look at things from different perspectives and be open minded about alternatives. Oh, and don't expect them to penalize anyone leaving a lobby anytime soon. The backlash will be brutal. 😁

You are telling me they can pull if off when they are the same people who gave up on making hoarder work because they couldnt find out why it was not applying the rarity multiplier?

I mean, not them specifically... Whoever said that couldn't be done with a perk. But that's also a bit more in-depth. I'm talking about graphics with a new system that automatically applies most of the settings, and then options to adjust graphic and audio settings. But if they have people who can't figure out how to program something, then they need to look to hire someone who can. My overall point is developers should be able to figure it out. I'm horrible at math, and I even know that a rarity multiplier can be done. When it comes to general settings like graphics and basic options, those are easier. I look at this from an Microsoft Excel perspective. It's easy to input buttons, change the layout, set up drop downs that are automated to filter based on selections. Then there's more in-depth coding like formulas, which would be similar to perks if comparing the two. Then you have the overall programming of the game, or in Excel it'd be Visual Basic and Macros. If someone can't perform basic formulas, let alone know how to format an Excel spreadsheet, then they shouldn't work in IT. And I program Excel spreadsheets at my day job, not that it's required because I work in insurance... But it makes my job easier and since I have free reign to make my job easier, I do that. Skills I learned from my first semester of college to earn a degree in IT, although I never finished because I'd rather one day become a game developer if I can. But that's besides the point. If they can't do simple tasks like fix brightness, put in accessibility options, or even program a perk to have a rarity multiplier, then they shouldn't be employed because there are others out there who can do it. Makes me wonder why they don't hire better programmers. But yeah, I hope that get's my point across. Not saying they specifically can pull it off but typical developers can.

  • The video for the survivor isn't really a good example but I've had it happen to me yesterday when I was on one side of the pallet, dropped it and somehow teleported to the other side not getting hit at all. I don't think the killer swung in time to hit me before the pallet dropped but their body pushed me through the pallet when it went down. This was in the RCPD map. Not sure if it's only on certain maps or not which is why I mention which map I was on.

Fixing matchmaking is hard, adding penalty is easy.

Example: Why don't you just fix your cat so it doesn't knock over things?

Bad analogy. Fixing matchmaking is actually pretty easy to fix especially since all they need to do is remove SBMM/MMR and just match players based on distance from each other, in game level (not even being used for anything other than obtaining shards every level), and survivor/killer level. It's simple programming. I also don't penalize my cat for doing stupid stuff. It's a cat. So should I turn my phone off so nobody can call me in case of an emergency? Or put up a sign outside my door every time I want to play just to keep people away? Like I said, people leave the lobbies for all sorts of reasons. Just get rid of the hidden MMR/SBMM system that's pretty pointless anyways, use simple matchmaking code and it would be good to go. Not hard at all. This is coming from someone who has IT experience.

  • @fogdonkey said:

If it messes up matchmaking then please add some penalty.

No. They should just fix matchmaking. People leave lobbies for all kinds of reasons. I leave them if I have to run and get the door, laundry is done, cat knocked over something, I get a phone call, ect. Nobody should be penalized for leaving the lobby. It's far better than leaving the game.

Tested it, i was on haddonfield. It works on every map I think, you just need to rotate your camera like crazy and you getting stalk, you get the stalk slow but you can know where are the survivors like that... weird bug.

If thats the case I also have another topic I couldn't bring before, which is optimization, dbd is horribly optimized and addind these things can be done right, hell it can even make the optimization better with certain rendering techniques and using the fog to hide it, but we are talking about bhvr, so adding fog and darkness will abdolutely destroy fps and probably make switch have polygonal fog again.

Adding fog and darkness with the new engine (I believe Unreal Engine 5) actually won't cause any issues with FPS as UE5 was built to build better looking games with less stress a user's system. I recently played the Matrix demo on XBox Series X... The things UE5 can do is out of this world. It'll just take the devs time to get used to the new system and learn to incorporate it with a game that was built on the older engine. But I look at games like Fortnite that was also built on UE4 like this game, and they ported it over just fine. Of course, they are the same company that made Unreal Engine, so they don't have to learn the engine like the devs here do. So what I'm saying is it's in the realm of possibilities.

  • Sorry but I'll stick to Empathy. It's map-wide and shows all survivors injured even before anyone is hooked.

  • @ACleverName4Me said:

So the house is bugged with lighting. Which isn't an issue for me since I'm not on pc. But for the windows it feels like the devs forgot to add breakable walls.

I'm on Series X and it looks similar although I can see faintly some of the trim and lines in the floor in the main room downstairs but I have to squint to really make any of it out. They should add a lightsource there, even if it's not that bright. Same with the room upstairs where a gen usually spawns by 2 lockers and a breakable wall (that I didn't know existed until I played killer one day and got lucky). I also didn't know there was a chest in the house. Not even sure which room this is.

  • Yes. 1 gen away from completion and a survivor get's hooked for the first time. Stupid me goes to the rescue because I was closest and didn't realize Ghostface was hiding nearby. I unhooked the survivor only to go down on first hit because I was exposed, got hooked, gen got finished and all 3 other survivors escaped without even trying to unhook me. Now I'm more cautious about unhooking survivors especially if the killer can expose.

Similar has happened with NOED, thinking we got all the totems and didn't. Took a hit for a survivor after they got unhooked right when a gen was completed and NOED kicked in. The other survivors tried to find NOED but were pushed to the gate and had to leave me behind.

It's always that one mistake, but hey, we learn from it so we don't have to make it again hopefully!

  • @squbax said:

Many people have complained that the dredge's nightfall makes them dizzy I don't have that issue but some people have spoke about it, and seeing as dbd has very limited accesibility options, making it more hard to play for people who have these issues is something bad.

Furthermore fog can really take away a big part of killer and survivor skill, using crows flying in the distance to track someone will be useless thanks yo the fog/darkness and overall making one aspect of thr game completely irrelevant.

Finally idk what veteran of dbd considered it scary, there is nothing really scary in this game, the game is a horror game but its more of a mechanically and multiplayer intensive game than a scary game like outlast or alien isolation.

I genuinly don't see how you can get scared in dbd, like stealth killers are mostly a joke, so even if they jump you, you know you can loop them for days on end so there is no need to be scared of their presence at all and personally a jumpscare is something that surprises you not really something that scares you.

There are a lot of horror games that have accessibilities and they don't make the game any brighter (other than having a gamma/brightness option in game). It's possible to make this game darker in a sense, and add more realistic fog on the ground without ruining it for people who need accessibilities. I just think the devs need to make it happen and I'm not sure what's stopping them from doing it.

  • Maybe not all 3 of their personal perks, but one ability that is special to them to enhance certain perks. Sort of like the killers. Example, Claudette was the original "healer" type of survivor. Giving her an ability that only enhances heals would be sufficient. And then make it so no other survivor on the team can pick her so there's only 1 Claudette. I don't know if it's possible in this game, but it works well in games like Evil Dead.

  • I'm believe they're now making maps (Haddonfield and Garden of Joy) with Unreal Engine 5, so I expect to see reworks of old maps coming in the future. I'm on Series X and the older map graphic quality isn't great and less immersive, and I hope the devs know this. I know with UE5, there is a new lighting system which is why we are seeing newer maps have really dark areas. I'll bet they have to redo these maps like Haddonfield just to make them dark like this again. But you're right, and I guess they are trying to find the right balance of lighting with newer maps going forward. Those are just assumptions though. It'd be nice to know if the devs are planning on reworking them and have them confirm if they are using UE5's new illumination system to try and bring back the old atmosphere, because I too like it better than what we have now and I'm sure there are many others. The game doesn't have to be pitch black, but definitely a much darker atmosphere for sure.

  • It's going to either be "The Demi-God" (god-complex runs rampant in the game with other villians and he even calls himself a god), or The Mastermind (another nickname used for him and several other villians in the Resident Evil franchise).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/328254/nurse-counterplay

Watch YouTube for more detailed ways...But read the nurse basically. You can usually tell if they're going to blink to a corner or aim for a prediction blink. Watching how long they hold their first blink is a good indicator of when to double back towards them.

But mostly just breaking LOS and force them in to as many 50/50s as humanly possible. Don't be afraid to stop at areas. Like if they're aiming to blink to a corner try crouching and POV teching them at a corner. Try breaking LOS at a rock and just stop and watch them blink by because they think you kept holding W.

This 100%. If the nurse is holding the blink ability, run a little bit further away and then turn back around towards the nurse. It's not 100% but it's the best I found to mostly not get hit. Plus putting a wall or object between you and her is also helpful. But this is the best advice.

  • Solo queue: Sometimes you have to be selfish. Don't initiate a chase with the killer if you don't have to. Focus on objective first, do at least 2 gens, find and destroy totems even if they aren't hexed. If you're at second hook state, do NOT initiate a chase unless you are sure you have a chance to escape. Your overall goal is to escape, even if that means leaving others behind. You still win.

SWF: Same as solo but coordinate with your team because you can play a bit more freely and less selfishly. You can initiate a chase with the killer as a distraction if you wish because of team coordination. Always bring Borrowed Time.

Overall: Focus on main objective by completing gens. If one person isn't doing gens, that can be detrimental to your survival. If killer is in sight, run. Don't take a risk unless you know you can rely on your teammates. In solo queue, I usually let them take chase with the killer first to determine this. If they are good at looping and don't go down quickly, I focus on a gen or a totem if I find one. If someone get's hooked, only 1 person should go for the save unless the killer is proxy or face camping. Then you need at least 2, or all 3 of you. But in solo queue, I have to weigh the risk of helping. If the killer starts slugging, then I just do a gen. Once complete, I go to save one of the survivors in dying state. Usually by then that can take a second if they recover while waiting. If they didn't, then I play as selfishly as I can so I can at least get hatch.

Finally, in solo queue, I NEVER troll the killer, because I know that could mean I get facecamped or we all get slugged and bleed out. It's happened plenty of times in games I've played, even when I was playing nicely. Remember, in solo queue, you're basically unsure who your teammates are, and how well they can play. I've realized that if they are trolling the killer, they are frustrating them as well in most scenarios. If I start doing the same thing, I am very likely not going to survive. What I mean by trolling is spam clicking your flashlight, spamming fast vaults early/mid game, or lockers. Of course I'll do this end game if I want to get their attention to get other survivors out, but I do it a few times. Any more and it becomes annoying. Sure, some killers are chill, but not all, and you never know. So I come back to the idea that figuring out what risks to take is crucial to your survival, don't troll the killer, be selfish if you have to, do at least 2 gens, and just have fun.

  • I didn't even see him on day one, that is unless I played him. Which I did a couple times. I'm still trying to level him up to get all thr perks unlocked which takes a while. Im guessing that's what others are doing??

On pc you can see but on console you can't see anything, i don't have pictures but looking on YouTube, the player on pc can see until 30 meter bit on console you can see just until 5 meter because very dark, on pc you can easily change the contrast or something but it's really unfair on console to play against the dredge

I'm on Xbox Series X and some maps I can see up to maybe 10 to 15 meters. What im saying is on Xbox I dont have much of an issue. They did black out everything at a certain distance, I'm just not sure how far that is. But they also added a vignette filter and a dim filter over the entire screen. I think the filters could be tweaked but the blackness distance is perfect. Also, I've tested out the flashlight during Nightfall and it's bright. I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried using a flashlight just for visibility? I did only on one map one time. Unfortunately not alot of killers are playing the Dredge which is shocking considered when Onryo came out, every game was her. Same with other past killers. I think this is the first time I've rarely seen a new killer at release. Just my thoughts and open to others.

I think so? I’m not sure exactly how bloodlust is applied and whether it’s a flat number or a multiplier based on the killer’s normal speed, but it’s either the numbers you listed or something close. Either way this seems like a bug to me (and if it’s not then it should be changed imo).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2990914#Comment_2990914

Yeah I know. They had just asked what the normal speed was without bloodlust.

    Tier 1 is a 0.2 increase, tier 2 is 0.4, and tier 3 is 0.6. Yeah I don't know if it's intentional or not.

Yeah, I gotta' remap my elite controller as well. I have 2 of the levers not mapped right now and I just haven't thought of it.

  • It's a bit confusing on console since I have to use a controller but I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it. Just a lot of buttons to press/hold and I eventually end up teleporting by accident. Definitely a huge learning curve to him.

To troll the killer. Happened the other day.

While holding your power you move at 3.68m/s, which is the same speed as when you’re carrying a survivor.

So basically with bloodlust, The Dredge with the power activated moves at?:

    Tier 1: 3.88 (Normally 4.8)

    Tier 2: 4.08 (Normally 5.0)

    Tier 3: 4.28 (Normally 5.2)

Don't hesitate to correct me if my math is off. I'm terrible at it anyways! 😀

    Was coming here to ask.

Is it going to be automatically added when you log on, or is it going to be an email code? 'cause I'm pretty sure nowhere in the survey asks for your email address, only your player ID, so I assume it'll be in-game upon loading the game?

From my understanding (and I could be wrong), it will automatically be added in-game.

  • I'm not really sure how fast the Dredge moves while holding it's power, but I hear it's pretty slow like the Nurse? My guess is it's intentional because it's still not moving as fast as it was before triggering it's power. Unless it is, then I'd be certain that'd be a bug. Good catch and definitely something to look into.

Yeah I respect your opinion of course. I just think the perk is bottom of the barrel tier trash but I'm speaking as someone with over 2k hours so ofc I'm gonna say that.

New players already have it kind of rough with modern DBD since the game's only getting more and more complicated as time goes on. When I was a new player for example, Legion and Plague were the newest killers so there wasn't a huge amount for me to wrap my head around

Thank you. I never use it but I have thought about it when a friend was interested in playing and wanted to learn with me (never ended up happening though). If it's trash, it's trash. I just thought the OP wanted assistance so they didn't have to worry about losing one game over another player who played poorly and couldn't hit a skill check. I guess they didn't like my response. Oh well. I try not to worry about what other people think because it brings me down and I'm dealing with enough in my personal life as it is. But overall I'm glad to know you respect my opinion and are overall respectful towards me in your response. I've always had a terrible way of communicating things, especially on the web, and that's why I say that. I probably have over 800 hours (not sure how I'd check since I'm on console) but I'll take your advice on the perk. Just figured that's what everyone else would talk about so I tried to think outside the box and see if there was another solution to help the OP. Oh well. Can't please everyone I guess and I definitely won't worry about it. Now I'm rambling lol. But I hope I got the message across. Thanks for your respect and advice!

Who needs an enemy when you have a friend to make a suggestion like that... xD

The best suggestion would be not to actually start playing this game.

    And also League of Legends

Sorry you feel I was being negative. I was only trying to help. Have fun with League of Legends.

  • Honestly, I rarely notice being alerted what's happening. My focus is on if I can see the killer, if they are in range, are they coming at me, do I need to run, ect. So in short, It wouldn't affect me if any of those alerts were removed. Now when I play killer, I would prefer more knowledge of my powers, which some killers and perks don't notify us that their active. Even a sound alert would be nice when exposed is active or who it's active on. But again, I generally don't try to pay attention unless I have 2 or 3 Dwights or Claudettes running around because then it gets really confusing. Overall I'd agree that survivors should have less awareness of statuses and killers should have a bit more in the areas that are needed.

In which case you're actually better off using Corrective Action

Yes, but the OP was upset about losing the game because another player couldn't get all the skill checks and they even asked for a better way of not being caught by the killer. I get everyone wants to talk about the perk and how bad it is. I was just trying to offer a solution to the OP.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2990699#Comment_2990699

It is a bad perk in multiple different ways though and this thread is a prime example why

OP clearly came across a newer player who struggles with skillchecks and they have a perk that punishes you more for missing skillchecks. The perk also doesn't help you with hitting skillchecks or making it any easier. The new player in OP's case would've been better off without the perk to begin with if you ask me

The perk also has no use for anyone but new players - even intermediate players rarely miss good skillchecks but even if they did they understand when to leave a generator and when to keep going.

A perk typically should have some usage for new, intermediate and expert players.

I did say it could be changed. I didn't have any ideas at the time and I'm open to suggestions, but overall the devs make those decisions. It's not a horrible perk. I wouldn't use it in solo queue. I'd probably use it if I was teaching a friend how to play the game. And I did offer other better perks. My overall approach was to tell the OP not to feel defeated over one game and to try something different.

  • @Dustin said:

Honestly the penalty should have been failing a skillcheck puts the perk on a short 20 second cooldown if anything. Even so that is too much because you're using a perk slot to avoid failed skillchecks alerting the killer. An entire perk slot for what it does.

I can see that and then adding less regression than normal. Love the idea regardless.

  • @Funchal said:

You know what else doesn't make the killer get notified where you are? ...

I run Lithe, Dance With Me, Quick and Quiet, and Windows of Opportunity. Sometimes I'll switch WoO with Spine Chill, but overall Quick and Quiet let's you fast vault and quickly enter/exit lockers without making a noise. Dance with me removes scratch marks for 3 seconds when you fast vault and Lithe is a vault speed boost. When I see the killer coming, I go for a vault as fast as possible because I have a really good chance of losing the killer immediately. This build also focuses on what I can control in the game so I'm not having to worry about other players making mistakes like constantly damaging gens. I know when I see that happen, I just leave them to their own devices. Sure, it can be seen as rude but hey, I want to win, right? I at least have to try to win, so I do my best to do so.

It's not a good perk, it's a new player perk. And even then it hurts more than it helps.

Can't control what other players do. You also can't control who you queue with in solo queue. Hard lesson to learn but I had to learn it recently because I was losing all the time due to other players not playing so well. Now I just run Lithe, Dance With Me, Quick and Quiet, and Windows of Opportunity. I had to learn the only thing I could control was my own playstyle. So yeah, you can tell other players to get better at the game all you want but that's not the best solution, at least until the Devs decide to buff the perk.

  • Place Shadow Step near a gen and you're good to go should the killer come your way. Also, add Sprint Burst and the killer will never find you. But not always guaranteed to find a totem near a gen you want to work. I've actually had killers reach out (even content creators) and say my placement and use was impressive. Of course I found a better build for my playstyle but this is definitely great for those who just want to work gens.

  • You lost ONE game. It's a good perk because then the killer isn't notified where you are. Also, killers need all the gen regression they can get to have a semi-advantage in this game. But I wouldn't dwell on one game, plus I'd just move to another gen if they kept doing that. Then the killer can deal with them and not you. Maybe it needs a buff, and maybe we will see that. But don't worry about ONE game with ONE bad player. That's just how RNG solo queue works. Trust me, I get a lot of bad players on solo queue and that's why I have a build to keep ME safe, not everyone else. Sure, I still lose but I have a better chance of winning solo queue games because of it. Find what works best for you and go from there. I really hope this ONE experience doesn't ruin all of DBD for you. I wouldn't.

  • In the sense of being able to actually apply pressure, and it's overall oppressiveness yes. But now everyone is gen rushing and killers don't have an adequate way to counter it without stuffing all 4 perks with anti-gen perks. Killers shouldn't have to use 2 to 3 anti-gen perks just to slow down the game, especially with the Dredge or any other killer.

Overall, Dredge is perfectly fine. Sure, the filter applied during NIghtfall can be fixed a bit so you can actually see your survivor because at times all you see is a black screen on some maps. I guess they could just add a light glow to your character to fix this. But nothing else needs to be changed. I might also add that some add-ons might need a buff or some kind of rework. Both iridescent add-ons had little to no use at all in the matches I played. Of course this is from my perspective and others may have a different opinion which is fine. That's why we have these discussions. Lavalier Microphone aura read was useless because by the 3rd teleport, I found myself having to walk across the map to get to the survivors and they were literally unphased by all lockers opening and closing. Those are the only add-ons I feel need some loving right now.

But yeah, I agree that the Dredge is a great start and I hope to see other killers current and future meet where it is in how oppressive it is, as all killers should feel. I don't normally play killer because I feel like most of their powers and add-ons are useless. That's why the game needs to be balanced as a 4v1 not 1v1v1v1v1. 4 survivors working together, even without being in a SWF should be equal to the killer, not 1 survivor (which is why there is tunneling and camping), and I feel the Dredge is a step in the right direction. So I hope the devs can figure this out for all killers, and I hope (can't say if they are or aren't because I don't speak for them) they are at least listening. AND I'd really wish players in general would be more open to expressing ideas (like you did here), asking questions, all instead of complaining about this side or that side being too overpowered all the time. My partner always tells me, you get more bees with honey than with vinegar. The devs are human too and I get they don't want to make the wrong decisions. But that's why this kind of feedback is sooo important. When a killer, like the Dredge, is balanced as best as it can be in this game, it's great to take note and express it. Hopefully we as a community can continue these kind of discussions in a sensible manner. It's stuff like this that keeps me coming back, even if you didn't think the Dredge was good. You didn't complain or attack anyone and took the approach from the survivor's perspective on the killer which is great. I usually play survivor seeing this, I too feel more confident speaking up when I see something good even if I'm going to get my butt kicked a lot by the Dredge. Sorry I spoke a lot here but these kind of discussions give me passion and hope to see a better DBD in the future.
