  • When caged, you are teleported across the map to a random location and other survivors can see your aura and PH cannot. Perks for both survivor and killer related to hooks do not work. If PH finds the survivor in the cage, they are teleported to another random location. It works as intended. No need for BT base-kit since the killer already can't camp it.

It's a PvP game, and Pinheads crutch on passive powers and information he does not earn. I understand that if the killer player wants to use his chains it's one of the more skillful things in the game. The fact is that you don't need them to easily 4k. He has the highest kill rate and it's because of his passive power. Passive powers don't belong in PvP games.

This isn't PVP. It's an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. Passive powers definitely belong in the game. That's why the devs put them there.

How on earth did anyone think this reduced the grind? It's literally increased.

It doesn't for newer players or those (like myself) who didn't get a chance to prestige all their characters or even get them to level 50 to automatically be prestiged to 1.

  • As someone who didn't prestige all my characters before the update (wasn't going to happen regardless), I can in fact say the grind is 10x worse. Especially for killer, which I didn't have everyone at level 50 or prestiged. Also, I've noticed I'm getting less bloodpoints than before, and I'm definitely not getting better add-ons even with those I've prestiged up to 4. I do like the new blood web system, but it still feels like forever getting perks unlocked to tier 3. I feel bad for new players just coming into the game because it will take a loooonng time to get all perks unlocked and tier 3. I mean, it's bad for me because I didn't have them all done anyways. But I did get a head start... I just agree. I don't see how they fixed the grind other than the entity taking over more quickly so it feels like you're leveling up quicker, when you're really not.

  • I think her power should be if players look directly at her (like with Ghost Face's reveal), they start to slow down until they cannot move, giving her a free hit. Once she hits them, they gain the endurance and haste status for 1 second. If she doesnt go for them or they arent looking directly at her, they begin to move again. Also, she can send snakes that inflict a poison status similar to Nemesis, which fills a meter. Once the meter is full, Medusa has the ability to turn a survivor into stone (like Pyramid Head's cage). The survivors will then need to find them and release them before they completely turn to stone and die. As for the snakes, there will be antidotes like Nemesis that slowdown the meter. If all survivors are cured of the poison, then the meter doesn't fill. Also, after she uses her power, even if she misses, the meter restarts.

These are just some ideas. I bet some might be to powerful but hey, I wanted to get creative.

  • A filter system isn't hard to make. Set a list of string variables and if any of those variables are used, then those letters should be censored. Also, there should be an option to remove censors. This is an adult game. They even have fog whisperers who swear a lot. Besides, it doesn't stop people from saying nasty things to each other. And on console, there is no chat function but people can still send messages if they're on the same platform, which doesn't stop them from doing it.

  • Ruin goes down quickly in matches I'm in. In fact, I'm always on the lookout for hexed totems.

  • Depends. I look at how many gens still need to get done and how many hook states/deaths we're at. If nobody has been hooked yet, no, unless it's the closest one to me and I'm not already working on a gen. If we need to hurry and rush getting a gen finished, especially late game, then yes.

(don’t really know why killswitch isn’t used here but is on Clown..)

If that's the case, then the Oni should be killswitched. Also, it is an easy fix. They just need to change the parameter of how many blood orbs spawn after a fast vault action. Not sure why it's taking so long to fix.

  • @Sluzzy said:

You are basically asking devs not to listen to the extreme unhappiness with the patch . That is the entire issue to begin with, being ignored.

I think survivors are tired of being nerfed constantly and killers being buffed. I know I am.

Survivors are tired of being nerfed? Freddy, Nurse, Spirit, Onryo (never buffed since release) just to name a few. Killers have always been nerfed. Survivors aren't supposed to be more powerful than killers. Not even equal unless working as a team. That's where the problem lies. Solo Q needs comms to even compare to SWFs because from what I can tell, SWFs are doing just fine after the patch.

Killers have been complaining since I've been playing while survivors just tell them to get good, GGEZ, haha DS/DH/COH/Ect, t-bag t-bag t-bag, flashlight clicky clicky. So the majority of killer mains left the game. So the devs gave them a buff to bring that playerbase back. Survivors also had been complaining since I've been playing, the only difference is the devs always listened to the survivors making the game too easy for you all. Honestly it was way to easy for me too. Now it's a challenge, but still they need to fix the comm issue that is lacking in Solo Q, which I play in. I don't do SWF because there's to much background noise where I live.

So I'm sorry nothing can ever make survivors happy. They gave you buffs, they nerfed killers, they attempted to balance things, but in the end they lost the killer playerbase, hence why it would take so long to find matches. Honestly after the update, I haven't even waited more than 1 minute on either side to get into a game. It's a step in the right direction. Instead of complaining about things, give the devs suggestions and be patient. Killers needed this, and some of us who like a challenge did as well.

  • I win most of my matches. The only times I seem to be losing is when other survivors aren't being teamplayers. Like when I carry the entire game by doing gens, hook saves, ect and then I get downed after last gen is done and the other survivors just run for the gate and leave. Or other situations where I get hooked or slugged and my teammates just leave me there. Killer isn't camping and typically in chase with only 1 survivor. The lack of teamwork in solo q is atrocious. I sometimes wonder if I should just play as bad or selfish as they do. But that usually ends up in a 4k. Fortunately it's not every game, but still frustrating.

  • It no longer works on smaller maps. Midwich for example. They shouldn't have increased the range beyond 32 meters. Right now it's useless compared.to other information perks.

  • Lightweight, Quick and Quiet, Head On and Dance With Me. Or you can change Lightweight to something else. Helps me get out of a lot of chases.

  • It would be cool if instead of just hitting you, they grabbed you and you had to kit skill checks in a certain amount of time or be bitten and infected if not already. Plus that would give the killer time to get to the survivor, and the option for the survive to escape from its grasp unharmed.

  • I'm wondering if we can just report these people? Today has been none stop suiciding and dcing, and it's not fun playing survivor when your teammates are throwing the game. This is getting out of hand and I hope the devs step in. I'll be reporting going forward. This is childish antics and it needs to stop because they're ruining the fun not just for killers but other survivors like myself.

  • The point of the game isn't to make survivors powerful. In fact, they are supposed to be weak. But if they work as a team, they have a chance of getting out alive. That's your objective. This isn't supposed to be a competitive game. It's supposed to be survival, and survivors have to do just that. Survive. If you guys want to be all powerful, then play killer. Or a different game that let's you be powerful. No horror game let's the player be in control, and guess what, that's the point of being a survivor. The devs aren't scared. They know their game better than any of us. So let thr mass exodus happen if you all hate this game so much instead of constantly complaining like 3 year olds in the forums. It's exhausting to be around such negativity all the time here.

  • @Kira4Evr said:

No. I do bones, loop, unhook and heal. I'm not sitting on gens for 78 years

Then don't expect to get unhooked in any of my matches because I don't help other players who don't focus on the main objective.

  • My survivor experience is fine. I can't say the same for my teammates, especially since I'm in solo q. But my games aren't too bad overall.

  • Someone in another discussion just told me I'm most likely mid-high MMR since the matches I tend to lose are against Nurse, Huntress and Legion with really good precision. Sorry but I don't teach others how to play. I learn from other streamers. Might be best for the community to try and do the same.

It's kind of weird, but I have noticed more survivors on these forums. When I first got on, these forums were almost 95% killer mains. Which makes sense, killers mains and hybrids are going to be much more invested in the game that survivors-mains.

I tend to play both but I usually main survivor because I usually get more BPs in the long run. But yeah, I'd definitely like to know how many players play only survivor, only killer and those who are hybrids.

I always assume that when you start getting Nurses and Blights more than average, you are in the middle-top.

Yep, Nurses, Blights, a random clown and doctor, a Pinhead who literally tortured all of us the entire game, letting us finish gens and get out only to get chained at the end. Fortunately was able to escape just in the nick of time. In fact, I get a lot of Nurses now that I think about it. At least one a day. There was another Nurse yesterday that I managed to escape against. So 2 total yesterday. I guess where I am, it's the right difficulty give or take a few games where it's just a slaughterhouse. So it makes sense I guess that I'd be middle-top. Maybe that's the sweet spot? I used to get a lot of camping and tunneling but I had to adapt and eventually played more selfishly just to win or at least get hatch. Plus, I'm still a bit new to the game since I started playing last Fall around when Nemesis dropped. But thanks for giving me all this info. I hadn't known there were tiers to the MMR and types of playstyles that seemed to fit in those tiers. It makes more sense now.

  • @Gindaen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3081821#Comment_3081821

It might be the MMR difference. At the lowest level of MMR everything is really random as to what happens. At the 2nd lowest and Middle seems to be the sweet spot for survivor play, killers rarely camp. I'm pretty sure I'm at the 2nd highest level and camping and tunneling is horrible. At the highest level of play, it's probably even worse.

Makes sense. I'm not sure where I am on the MMR scale, but all I know is when I get a bunch of wins, I end up getting a game where we are just slaughtered. Usually by a Nurse. Yesterday I lost to a Nurse and a Clown. Didn't even get the first gen done. Both were using at least 2 information perks like Lethal Pursuer. The day before was a doctor with Merciless Storm, Sloppy Butcher, Coulrophobia and Unnerving Presence. Let's just say there was no chance in getting skill checks done. They each had at most 1 gen slowdown perk.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3081742#Comment_3081742

Out of the 7 recent games I played, there was only 1 game in which in the killer didn't camp or tunnel someone at gen 5. Killers are just standing right outside of terror radius and coming right back to the hook the second someone is hooked.

So I'm with @Pulsar, I'm seeing a lot of camping and tunneling at gen 5, which also seems to be the norm for most survivor posts I'm seeing on the forum. You're survivor experience is the exception to the rule I guess.

Oh, I believe you guys. I'm just trying to understand because like you said, my experience has been different. Who knows, maybe this weekend I'll get camped every game.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3081742#Comment_3081742

    Watch my stream then.

Had a game last night where I get omega-tunneled off of hook.

Killer downs people and ignores them to specifically target me.

Same thing happened here except I ######### up at a jungle gym after taking the window 5 times.

Game directly after this was a Hag who caught one guy, hooked him and never left him. We kept 1 for 1'ing but we literally couldn't do gens fast enough

    Okay, I'll check it out.

  • Just like killers, there is no meta. There are only builds. Start being creative people. I got Head On, Quick and Quiet, Lightweight, and Dance With Me for my stealth build. Then I have a gen rush build, healing build, ect. Stop using all the same perks. It's very boring.

  • @dbd900bach said:

This is probably a useless post and discussion and by extension myself but I wanted to say it since quite a few people here are brining it up.

The general killer buffs are good, the needs to all the perks were good and the general nerfs to survivors are good...if you're playing with sfw or at least a once in a blue moon competent team.

The issue isn't the killers or the update, it's solo q suffering because they can't even communicate with their team. Most players are solo q players. I guarantee that solo q would be significantly better if people could just communicate in some way. Would it really be that bad if they added proximity mics for just survivors? I mean it's not perfect but it's something?

I'm a solo q player. 15 games in the past 2 days, lost 4 total. So, what's the problem other than longer than expected wait times?

  • 10 games last night, lost 2, not once was I camped or tunneled. 5 games the night before. Lost 1. Same situation. Watched some streamers on Twitch yesterday, no issues whatsoever.

I'm not really sure what is causing the killers to camp, but from what I've seen in plenty of past games is that if someone is bullying the killer, they're most likely going to get camped, slugged, ect. Very rarely have I see killers just do this for no reason. And guess what, It's going to happen every now and then. Would have been nice to see video of what happened before you were camped. Not saying you did bully the killer, but would give proof that there are instances of killers just camping for no reason. Maybe capture it next time. But like I said, I haven't been recently camped, tunnelled and neither have streamers I follow, nor do their hundreds or thousands of followers/subscribers have ever complained about. That's my take.

  • @PBsamichShoe said:

And youre going to finally kill your game.

Cant wait to see what the steam charts look like in a month now that killer takes as much skill as shooting fish in a barrel.

Seems fine to me. Plus I played around 10 games as survivor yesterday and only lost 2. Not sure what you're crying about.

    image.png

  • I play both survivor and killer, and yesterday I played about 10 matches as survivor, losing only 2 games. So I still don't understand what everyone is talking about this update being heavily killer sided. The only time I typically saw anyone go down was when other survivors decided to bully the killer. Maybe you all need to just stop doing that. Or play something else to get your jolly's off.

Slenderman is licensed cause it wasn't created by dbd

Forgot who made the original game but they need to contact them to get him in the game so that means he's licensed

Tbf necromorph would be cool but I feel he might not be as hype as other licensed killers

I think Slenderman would be an easy license to get. They'd have to contact Eric Knudsen, the creator of the Slenderman mythos. He happily handed over the license to a third party company who made the game, which to be honest wasn't that great. Adding him to DBD would definitely pull in revenue, plus a lot of fans. Just my thoughts anyways. Could be wrong.

  • Controller is easier for killer. As survivor, I have difficulty 360ing and sometimes just sloppy movement when in chase. But I never tried playing with a keyboard.

You could have "made your point" with less responses and also without being completely over the top and childish. Being that way just to intentionally rub people the wrong way makes YOU look bad and that serves absolutely no one.

That being said, these changes are rubbish. I certainly don't mind DH being nerfed but all the other changes? Could literally do without. Every. Single. One. Even on the killer side really. Pain + DMS being gone is good though.

Sorry you don't like the changes. You're also right. I don't need to argue with children throwing temper tantrums not even a week into the new update. Thanks!

  • This is only the beginning. 😉

  • I'm betting most the of the people complaining here are just complaining and threatening to leave but still playing or haven't even played for who knows how long, just to cause drama in the one area of the internet that they can. Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Youtube all aren't as bad as the forums right now. People are, just like you proved, are still playing the game.

  • After god knows how long the game has been survivor sided, not even a week has passed by and survivor mains are already complaining that the game is "too much" on the killer side. Yet I'm already seeing meta builds and strategies on Youtube and Twitch that say otherwise. Might want to give it some time before complaining. Plus, it's about time Killers get their own versions of boons, DS, DH ect. Of course I'd like to see everything balance out in the end, but it's still too early to tell if that's even needed, with all the videos popping up for survivors to well, survive.

  • Thank you! Exactly my point. I swear survivor mains are freaking out over something they haven't really had the time to play through. I'm already seeing new meta's and builds for survivors on Youtube and Twitch. But here in the forums it's just a bunch of temper tantrums.

Soulsborne games are NOT PvP games.... In any Soulsborne game, you LEARN from your mistakes and can get through the games this way. It is YOU who is in control. In DBD you play with REAL people with an actual brain and mind, not with bots. In Solo Q you are in the hands of the killer AND your random teammates. There is nothing one can do against being tunneled/camped hard (if a killer wants you out they will get you out no matter what, the new patch didn't change it at all) or handling coward and lazy teammates or toxic swfs. You cannot compare apples and oranges.

Actually they are. Yes, you learn from your mistakes just like DBD. And you are in the hands of every single invader, some even bosses like in Demon Souls, Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, and no, you're not in control. I mean, if you play offline then I guess you are. The games are meant to be PVP and obviously you've never played against PVP invaders in any Souls game. In DBD, survivors are NOT supposed to feel in control. That's the entire point. Don't like it, play something else.

Sorry you don't like the new changes and hate killers. Have fun.

  • @scenekiller said:

One thing I'll never understand: why, when killers complained, was "get good" "learn to play without crutch perks", "training wheels" etc. not valid then, but it is now that solo survivors are complaining?

The truth is, there are plenty of bad solo survivors. But there are also plenty of good solo survivors who are at the mercy of the bad ones. It isn't an issue of "lol your crutch is gone, get good" - some perks absolutely WERE necessary for GOOD solo survivors to offset the downside of terrible teammates.

RNG is such that it doesn't matter how good you are, and "get good" is a disingenuous, borderline condescending retort with absolutely no nuance or thought behind it other than pettiness for the (very real) issues killers previously had to deal with.

One thing I'll never understand is rage quitting a game or uninstalling it not even 24 hours after an update. I can understand taking a break, being mad, ect. And that goes for both sides. I play both survivor and killer, and I've seen plenty of times where survivors say the exact same thing after a match.

There is no future. There is no past. Do you see? Time is simultaneous, an intricately structured meta that survivors insist on viewing one update at a time, when the whole design is visible in every facet.

I hope I never come across you in a match. 😉

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075624#Comment_3075624

How so? If people don't like the game anymore, it's their choice, the most recent update has SIGNIFICANTLY altered the game's dynamic. People are allowed to no longer like the game and therefore are allowed to leave, they don't HAVE to play it just because you're happy with the changes.

Yes, they don't have to play. 24 hours and people just decide to quit instead of giving a couple of days or weeks. I don't really care. It most likely means most of the toxic members of the community are quitting the game, which does make it better for me. Plus shorter solo Q times. So do what you want. Do I still think it's childish? Yes. Especially when nobody has really given the new changes a chance. I bet the majority of people uninstalling the game right now are doing so because of what they read in the forums and not playing the game for some time to see how it is. But yeah, you do you. I hope you all have fun with whatever game you find. Try Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring. Nah, you'll all rage quit those as well.

I didn't say they had to play. Solo Q is fine for me. Wish I was paid. Now who's acting childish. 😉

I hope so. I haven't seen a change tantrum this massive since Boons though, and they had a reason to.

Same with Boil Over when it was buffed the first time. Then survivors complained after they nerfed it. It's still useful, just not OP. I think that's the dev's overall goal... To remove OP perks and meta in general. It's honestly a great strategy and the best way to balance a game.

  • Thanks. I am having fun so far with the update. As both survivor and killer.
