It's the feeling of being cheated out of something by a mechanic that has no actual way to circumvent. No matter what you do against these sort of perks you take an L in some way. That's why I hate them.

A perfect example of a truly dumb mechanic was a match on Groaning storehouse. Did you know that the center building in that map is still a technical infinite? True infinites don't exist anymore of course, but I'm talking about those godly loop setups where theoretically it's possible to get caught, but in practical gameplay if the killer is forced to chase into it he'll lose all of his gens before he downs the person. Yeah. I had a match where I unfortunately had to face against that. It was 2016/2017 all over again where the motto was "When in doubt, just run to cow tree.".

I know the frustration. I posted a video a while back where I got d-striked three times in a row at the exit gates. Just for my own sake I don't see the game in a very competitive way, and I try and leave games in the past once they're over. I don't think I'd enjoy it much otherwise.

  • Yeah some survivor perks are ridiculous and they usually get more so at endgame. But even if you're the better player you aren't going to win every game in a game like this. Good survivors die to bad killers, bad survivors escape against good killers, there's so many variables in dbd. Being too competitive about it is just gonna stress yourself out.

  • Yes - they should buff + nerf certain perks every so often just to see how the game works differently. Nerf the ######### out of the meta perks + buff massively useless ones, even just temporarily to shake things up.

@Aven_Fallen He said he had 20,000 hours and devotion level was 104. It was a modded account because his shards and time played was modded and I called him out on it then he disappeared and removed the pics.

I'd feel less embarrassed about being a hacker than genuinely having devotion 104

That guy probably had faced multiple key users that day. It gets old after a few matches - I get it. Still kinda lame to message you afterwards. That guy should have just taken a break instead of playing while angry. People really need to learn to play DBD with a cool head ONLY.

^^ extremely this - taking even a short break once you start getting tilted is the best dbd/multiplayer advice I can ever give

  • Killers don't like keys. Pretty sad of him to message you about it but you can always spam messages back

please give it back bro I'm locked out of my house please my mom is gonna be so angry

  • I think I can guess the answer but were you getting matched with survivors around your rank?

  • @Throwaway123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1441855#Comment_1441855

The matchmaking is certainly ass right now, but the amount of red rank survivors you face at low ranks vs high ranks is still different. And literally noone that exists in red ranks as killer for an extended period thinks "The killers dont need any skill, they just have to show up." or "As killer its nice not having every game be a sweatfest but some are just so braindead and easy I feel bad for the survivors."

You have to play against real bad players for every game to be a cake walk, and likely not play much killer at all to not once face an swf hit squad.

    Dude's talking out his ass.

I know the survivor quality you get varies, I can get the sweatiest most anti-fun OoO swf groups that legend speaks of or a group of poor noobs, all of which are in red ranks and I get only red ranks whether I'm currently red, purple or green myself, apart from the occasional case where some rank 20 survivor ends up in my game. I'm just disputing that you need to be of a certain rank to have balance opinions considering how rank works.

  • @FreakPrince said:

They should add a counter in Small Game. That’s it.

They should add a totem counter to solo in general, although they seem to got bored of the raising solo to swf level thing after buffing one perk.

Not going into anything else on this thread, there's no point arguing about ds or noed it's gonna be the same thing tomorrow, so why bother saying anything new?

lol I love this guy's comments. Talks like he knows about balance but constantly admits his rank is low. Yes Killer is easy at low rank against bad people and survivor is hard due to said bad teammates. Congrats you learned the secret everyone knows. Get a tiny bit gud and stop being so biased

He said himself, rank reset is a thing. Being in red ranks means you played that role a decent amount this month, it's not the secret to unlocking the ability to opinions on balance.

Also you're talking like only red rank killers get paired with red rank survivors. Not these days

When I play as the killer and people do that I can still see their red silhouette.

They're not doing it correctly then.

  • Welcome! You might get some people laugh at you for your thoughts on wraith, don't take it too personally, most people change certain opinions after a long enough time playing this game. I have bad memories myself of my early survivor days, pretty much 2/3 games were a wraith who just stood cloaked next to the hook after hooking the first survivor. Wraith was also my first main as killer although I play him less often now.

Against survivors with a lot of experience though he's a bit more limited, his stealth can get him a first hit easily but after that he doesn't have much to help him against good use of pallets and windows. When he's approaching you can still hear him although a gen might drown some sounds out, he has very stompy footsteps and he snarls.

  • @ChozoChorizo said:

Wraith has some pretty fun things he can do with his terror radius, or at least his emanating "sounds". Coxcombed Clapper and "The Ghost" make him really hard to detect when uncloaking, leading to some really fun gen pick-ups. Bone Clapper can really mess with survivors if you know how to play Wraith really well, the muffled sound becomes about as indicating as Spirit's vacuum so it can force complacency and fear much like the previously mentioned confusing TR Doctor build.

I went against a wraith recently who was a red rank but new to wraith and just threw on two brown addons without looking what they were (the 6 second delay one after uncloaking but also the one where your terror radius doesn't go away when cloaked) the best part was he tried to sneakily camp me at one point.

  • @Fran1994 said:

First of all, thank you guys for the suggestion. I should really buy doctor, should I?

To give some context: i play on mobile so we only have 16 killers. We miss piramid head, deathslinger, freddy (but all of his perks are available as common perks) and oni.

So my build must be suitable without their perks.

Also, i only own nurse, billy, trapper and wraith to this day. Gonna buy leatherface very soon.

I'm thinking about also buying the doctor, since you speak wonders of him, but on mobile is harder to locate survivors (i played a whole game as nea running around Billy without ever being seen and i'm not a pro survivor) so i'm figuring out how to uhleash shock terapy effectively.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440274#Comment_1440274

My idea is to build the nurse as a min TR killer. Playing nurse on mobile is a real hell, but i managed to get good enough. If i can reduce my TR so much that i can blink right on surv without them realizing how close i am, i'm super happy. Also, the add on that gives me 115% speed after a perfect blink hit should do for a fun game, since they don't expect nurse to be able to pull a decent chase without blinking

For a max TR killer, i would go for the doctor once i can buy him, or also the huntress... Only down of her is her lullaby which gives her position away

Doc is by far the best at finding survivors, if you think there are survivors in the area but don't know where you can blast, or you can use whispers to make sure you never waste it.

  • It's a trap put in for brainless hackers afaik, as you can only access the perk that way.

  • I think the devs even trying to force croissant play on us just shows how incompetent and out of touch they are. We the community have been demanding a garlic bread killer for years and this is our consolation prize. Pathetic

  • 4 ds but only 2 ds/unbreakable, looks like a pretty chill group to me

  • The ones who have addons that can reduce the radius further to combine with monitor are myers, doc & slinger, so they're a good start. Combine that with things that remove your terror radius completely and that should mess them up good - dark devotion is hilarious on doc & nasty on myers

  • It is optional. It might lengthen your queues if most other switch users opt in though.

  • As Freddy against 4 objects you are screwed. If you had run blindness addons or 3rd seal they would be screwed. You're right that you don't know when someone will have it so it might be pretty useless most of the time but if anyone can afford to give up a perk slot or addon slot as insurance it's sharp hand joe.

    @Bovinity said:

Last time I played a SWF with an Object user, they whined that I tunneled them.

    Go figure. 🤣

I had an object with a key say the same. To be fair they were right

  • They have their place in the game, the issue is that considering the impact they can have they are:

    a) extremely easy to activate

    b) have no downside

    c) can all be used together and can have some pretty stupid synergies.

Like mettle of man is an odd one out with both a) and b) although it is a "second chance perk". But who would complain about a survivor escaping because they proc MoM? (Okay I'm sure some would but it's more impressive than anything else )

Imo these type of perks should have downsides, limits, or require skill/effort to pull off, something at a higher level than press button to not die, hold button to not die, hit skillcheck to not die, etc etc

  • I've gotten into him recently and I really like him as he is. Except his addons, really terrible although at least being a demo main isn't expensive as his best ones are brown

If they are running 2 Objects, I don't think it's a swf or they are just meming.

Matching usernames + outfits in that case. I was trapper as well :/

  • The later it gets the sweatier it gets for me, until it hits a point where it's just swf with object, another swf with object, another swf with two objects and a midwich offering, aka bedtime

What happens when the bot is slugged for the 4k though? Do they lie there and recover? Or do they crawl around for you endlessly while the killer follows them?

And if you've been here for more than 2 years you know it damn well. At max they'll change a couple of numbers here and there, but all this bullsh‎it is going live.

    Why?

Why don't you listen to the community for the love of god? I mean when you see actual red rank survivors saying this nerf gutted him you should realized by now you've done something wrong.

Why are we getting changes we didn't ask for majorly? It's like a dev had a bad match against a billy and he just said f‎uck it.

We were asking for a LOT for a while and we're just getting random changes

    • FIX MATCHMAKING PLEASE

    • Iri heads (Just make them like slinger 15m, please don't touch bunny like billy)

    • Some sort of spirit counterplay (Louder footsteps, removing the amulet+ring bulls‎hit, etc..)

    • Some sort of method to communicate in frustrating solo queue (More emotes, quick chat messages, anything...)

    • Fix the sounds for killer (very often dying survivors completely silent, and also sounds from all over the map play at once?) It's a mess

    • Keys, ebony moris (and i swear if someone argues they're fair below)

    • Trapper & wraith buffs, your 2 oldest killers (Make the extra 1 trap carrying base-kit, Make yellow windstorm/bone clapper base-kit)

    • GRABS

    • Some dev communication in the feedback section, the last dev reply there was over 2 months back.

Why the hell is everything new you add so complicated? Just perks and add-ons with twice the requirements than benefits.

Moderate charge time reduction to become a 110% killer?

Chainsaw through pallets that are just gonna get dodged, and oh, you're speed limiter now.

A 0.2m/s increase when a flashlight is shining on you is useless, and if you play the game you would know it since a survivor flashing you is NEVER gonna be moving. If he moves he does it at like 15% speed.

Oh well, I guess we ungrateful little shi‎ts just don't understand new Hillbilly's "Full Potential" and are just gonna get brushed off.

Well the balancing team thanks you for your input and you make a lot of great points but we feel what the community most wants is

    *shakes magic 8 ball vigorously*

    spirit buffed and wraith nerfed

Yeah killer mains bad, survivor mains good! That's why I (the most dedicated Bubba main to ever exist) said that PTB Bubba is too strong, right? Because killer mains don't care and all of them want the ez 4k- right?

Using reverse psychology on the devs in order to get bubba buffed even more, I would expect nothing less from such an insidious killer main

As I said in a previous post it's usually crutch killers like spirit, legion, ghost face and the huntress that use them and people think they are good with it.

I use no crutch perks and support removing crutch perks because it ruins the game by eliminating basic fair play.

Legion, ghostface and huntress op, you really are clued up aren't ya?

  • You can prevent it from happening entirely. Yeah I know it's frustrating if you're solo and no one else bothers doing totems and it's definitely used as a crutch perk by some killers (you should usually be able to tell which ones these are by how uninterested they are in doing gens) but there's lots of annoying perks on both sides that aren't overpowered. And a hex perk that doesn't activate until the end and can be disabled before it even activates is not overpowered. Accept totems as part of your objective or accept the risk of you choosing to ignore them.

  • Hmmm

you know I never did finish that 2 gen grabs with discordance challenge....

  • That is the way to play if all you're interested in is escaping. I play like that when I've got escape challenges or something to do but god is it dull

Edit: up to step 6 anyway

  • It needs to be removed. The only reason they give is for its existence is that "it makes hits look better" although who cares how good it looks when it jerks your weapon away from the survivor to hit the wall. Also you have to call it aim dressing or the only dev response you'll get is "it's actually not auto-aim, it's aim dressing"

apparently in the next patch theyre doing a dbd mobile and making bots replace players. this could be why. alternatively its cause people were hacking into the servers and giving people unfair penalties (example tru3 got a 48 hour penalty after not dcing once).

    Where did you hear that?

Billie tends to smash my games faster than those 2. Don't get me wrong, Spirit also tends to smash the games but at least it feels less soul crushing (keyword: less). Freddie needs tweaking and I cannot stand how long he can drag out games, but he also feels like a death nets me some good time in game. Overall, I honestly think Billie has been much more problematic. Spirit and Freddie felt worse prior to rank 1, but when I started versing the BIllies who knew how to not run into walls so easily, he is super problematic.

LF wont cross the map in a sec, for that to happen the teammates needed to be clumped up. Which is fun but results in you dieing to almost any killer with a snowball mechanic.

I see your points but it does feel like he's getting nerfed at least partially just because some survivors are useless against him. I know the frustration when you go against a mediocre billy who eventually gives up trying to chainsaw you and goes for teammates who fling themselves into his chainsaw the second they see him. But after a while I found it fun learning to counter him, much as I initially hated him when I was a rank 15.

As both a killer and a survivor main myself killers who go out of their way to ruin a game for survivors an entire game.Definitely deserve to be treated with butt dancing at the exit gates as the survivors escape.People who get salty over butt dancing should go see a doctor it’s not healthy to complain over people pressing to go up and down.

Okay I don't care much about teabagging either but let's not pretend it's something reserved for toxic killers

Yes because my teammates won't instantly go down without me being able to even repair the furthest gen without them getting to me in a second.

Three of my teammates went down instantly yesterday to a (current) leatherface, maybe they should be nerfing him instead 🤔

  • I wonder if the survivors happy with this change will still be happy if a big chunk of billy mains end up switching to freddy and spirit.

  • It's childish but then again a lot of literal children play this game

  • @anarchy753 said:

Honestly, I say this not being a fan of Billy or Oni either, I really think they should make Infectious Fright trigger on a basic attack.

It would still work on oni though wouldn't it?

Yep. I have round about 480 hours now. About 400 is probably survivor game play. I've been going through leveling each killer, and when I hit these killers that people tout as having a "high skill ceiling" -- such as Nurse, but old Bubba I was told such a ceiling exists and I disliked him -- it's simply not fun. I'm not going to play something that's not fun. Like, I'm learning Ghost Face atm, and he has some in-depth mechanics. They take some skill and patience but aren't ridiculously hard to get the hang of.

Yeah I was starting to learn nurse pre-nerf just for the sheet joy of being a console nurse but then that happened and it was enough of a time sink already, back when the sensitivity was capped really low as well ofc.

Makes me sad with billy because he was a good beginner killer, like pretty much every killer I know began with either trapper, billy or wraith. They're like the starter pokemon.
