The new reworked maps look like cancer for console if they don't address the fps issues, console killers are gonna hate playing those maps. Even PC players get massive frame drops when they break the walls, this is really stupid, they need to get there priorities straight and optimize the game.
@UseTheValve is telling us frame rates seem best on the new graphics maps, although there's other issues. It's not going to be the graphics updates that kills us, we're already dead tbh
Behaviour just needs to fix console performance, now.

Just can't wait.

EDIT: apparently @UseTheValve says it won't be the case, and the new maps are the best performing. If that will be the case on console as well, I'll eat a full vial of putrid serum.
I'm not optimistic either but i'm happy to see a pc player trying to help us out. MVP

Lithe. Sprint burst I always forget I have and just zoom into trees. Lithe I also forget I have but it's usually in more appropriate situations

I haven't seen any survivors complaining about the killer perks. I've seen them complain about the survivor perks though.

Except the 2 reworked map, they have higher FPS than lery's I checked it multiple time. So far highest FPS i got was Yamaoka + Badham, than normal maps but it's lower than I get on current version, Lery + the lab were a bit lower than current version on Ultra settings, worst map was like usual then silent hill map, how does this play on console because it my lowest of all, all the time. I get lots of time 50 on PTR on ultra settings, did not check with shadow on high tho, seems the new shadow drains a lot now.
Then again i'm wasting time trying to test all this for you console guys, y'all going OMG PRETTY MAP = BAD FPS REEEEEEEE.
while i'm here saying those 2 new map perform the best so far.
I'm sorry, the bad optimisation has spread to our brains at this point. Thanks for reporting in <3

That said I'm kinda into the oni especially in minotaur form so I can't really talk

I hope he gets a legendary skin that just makes him a real pinball

I downloaded it a while ago bc I was bored of dbd. Died pretty early, the others called the cops, and while spectating one of them was dancing and teabagging just before the exit zone for a few minutes until Jason grabbed him, then he stabbed him with a penknife and actually left.
And then I thought oh sh*t this is just dbd as well. Everything is dbd, there really is no escape.

Alright lets.....this is not reality. I know theres 2 camps of survivors in this whole issue but I wanna just...inform you guys that, the neon green skin that you have.....I CAN LITERALLY SEE YOU FROM A FULL MAP AWAY!
I know you guys think, "well I can be in stealth mode even with this neon" but dude, the first thing a killer thinks of when we see a neon outfit is "oh....this person wants the attention" usually they wanna show off some fancy moves and juke the killer etc <----IE the bait of the team.
So while you may think "oh look he didn't see me at all!! ahahaha" <-----nope, some killers will actually dodge you if they see a bright neon in their game just to avoid a god pallet or people who abuse infinites. The psychology is, I can always go back and find you after I've killed the weaker links on the team instead of the bright flashy guy. And usually it works.
I'm aware of how visible neon survivors are, I play killer. It's just more fun being stealthy with it - I don't mean I'm crouching in a corner with my raver jake outfit trying to blend into the wall, obviously, I keep moving around a tile when they come over to check to look for who's been doing a gen there and utilising walls, windows, etc until they either think I've left or they don't want to waste more time. Or until I get bored of stealth and just announce my presence anyway
Also as you said I do occasionally just get left alone because people assume my stylish yet affordable cosmetics means I'm a god looper 😄 but I leave them off a lot as well so I don't get dodged 5 times in a row and can just...begin the game
-
You're not helping the case for stealthy survivors by equating them with the blendette playstyle. I can evade the killer while doing objectives while wearing neon cosmetics. Playing as a black character with dark clothes, crouching in corners and bushes and being generally useless is brainless and you should be moried every match for doing so.
-
Stealth is bad and detrimental to your team. When done correctly & as long as you do objectives, and can switch to being more aggressive if your teammates are being hooked and you haven't been then it can be very good and waste a lot of the killer's time without wasting pallets.
-
Pig is underrated, although not by that much (i.e. she isn't secretly good)
But she's probably the most 'incorrectly' played killer aside from hag.

They aren't toxic, they just always want to do a 4 man swf and that is not something I enjoy all the time. So they're good friends but they get very upset when im on but "hide" from them because I don't like hurting feelings and rejecting people. 😅
Just say you're playing killer

Nope, it stays that way the whole game. Had it as killer too.

Yeah I've had that before. Since I can't do gens I have to focus on totem patrol + harassing the killer

I turned off messages from non-friends and I disabled friend requests (oh yes, you will get friend requests with angry messages attached). Life is better that way.
If you leave messages on, feel free to respond politely (without profanity or name calling) or totally ignore them, and certainly report them if they use profanity or any sort of slurs. Kids of all ages use Playstation, so Sony doesn't shrug that stuff off.
Really, though, I got hate mail for killing survivors and friend requests for not killing them. Both got annoying; having them turned off feels better. I enjoy knowing that survivors are stewing in their impotent rage after they screw up horribly and get sacrificed. (I never got messages from killers when playing survivor, so that's a non-issue. I did get messages from other survivors, though... usually because they were mad I didn't die trying to save them. Again, messages being turned off = good.)
Some of the salty messages sent as friend requests I just accepted. Then they forget who I was and invite me to swf 🥴
-
Report them. Sony doesn't f*ck about with that stuff. And yeah I got hatemail for playing normally so messages and friend requests go off before playing killer now
-
I want them to either give us that option or give us a decent + stable FPS, and I'd prefer the latter.
I have nothing against PC players, I've enjoyed playing with/against them so far. But I can see why the frame rate concern is valid (the worries about hackers and 'sweatiness' less so)

No, it isint.
Map vote, simple as that. In campfire screen two maps from different pools (Realms) - for example: 1 map from Autohaven Wreckers pool and 1 map from Gideon Meat Plant pool. ;-)
Every survivor have 1 vote, Killer have 2 votes. If tie, game will choose map randomly from different pool.
If new map was added, one of choices always will be new map.
I'm not sure that would be great, a survivor sided map would almost always win over a killer sided one, unless one of the survivors is particularly kind and agrees not to send you to haddonfield, which would draw it. I think a map veto would be better, maybe 2 on each side that you specifically don't want to play on.

A reminder of this announcement that console would be optimised up to 60 FPS:
@not_Queen said:

Over the past six months, we have allocated strike teams with the mission of improving the overall health of the game. As announced last December, we have developers working on a new matchmaking algorithm which we are actively testing and are almost ready to deploy. We are also targeting to migrate the game to dedicated servers by the end of summer 2019.
This blog post is meant to update you on the efforts put on optimization, which aim to enhance the overall game’s performance.
When we first released Dead by Daylight back in 2016, we targeted 30 FPS on our minimum spec. Up until recently, we optimized the game in bursts; for the console launch and before releasing a new Killer. We are now ready to set a new performance target: Dead by daylight will run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and minimum spec PCs.
Reaching 60 FPS on Dead by Daylight is not an easy task. It is a multifaceted iterative process that started six months ago and will be ongoing for months. Our strike team of programmers dedicated to optimizing the game has their hands deep into the game code. To summarize, optimization improves the frame rate by using less CPU and GPU cycles to update and render the world faster without any apparent loss of quality.
See below for a high-level view of our optimization roadmap.
STEP 1: UPDATE TO UNREAL ENGINE 4.20
Target: Chapter 10 and incremental changes with every engine update (update to 4.21 is planned for chapter 11)
The engine update was a necessity to move forward with the optimization process.
All the Unreal engine features below gives us additional tools and means to enhance the performance of the game: the new Apex integration (dynamic mesh simulation), RHI/Render thread split, Epic’s mesh reduction tool & improved animation thread tooling are just a few examples.
STEP 2: CPU, GPU AND CONTEXTUAL OPTIMIZATIONS
Target: Chapter 11 and ongoing
This is the core of the work to improve the performance and the game’s frame rate.
There are many opportunities for optimization, but here are the three main pillars overarching our efforts:CPU optimizations: improving the game’s baseline systems
This is where the game world is simulated (interactions, character navigation, perks and powers). We will be converting our slowest gameplay blueprints to C++ which should, in specific cases, run ten to two hundred times faster. We are also moving from a tick-based system to an event-based-system. A tick-based system is much more demanding, as it constantly pokes the CPU to know when to trigger an action, while an event-based system can enable an event only when necessary and therefore reduce the stress on the CPU.
GPU Optimizations: Overall Graphic Optimizations
The GPU is where the game world is rendered into an image which is then drawn on the screen. The optimization actions listed below mainly affect the game’s visual representation. The objective is to render the world faster without sacrificing quality. We will be updating our anti-aliasing system to TXAA and moving the SSAO to a compute shader, simplify our shadow pass, optimize character outlines, improve LODs, slim render passes, bake more lights, use imposter rendering for specific objects (trees, grass) and more.
Contextual Optimizations: Performance Spikes for Specific Actions
We are working on optimizations that pay at any given time when you play (as mentioned above under GPU/CPU) but we also know there are specific actions and/or Killers that will need extra optimization. These are problematic cases where we see major hitches in performance. Here are a few examples: multiple characters moving in close quarters, specific Killer slow down, perks combination, etc.
STEP 3: UPDATING OUR GUIDELINES AND PROCESSES
Target: Chapter 12 and ongoing
While we optimize the existing gameplay and graphic systems, we develop better tools and methods to implement new features. When we have a new process figured out, it is documented and shared with our development team who can then apply these learnings for the creation of new content.

Our objective is to offer a better performance on all platforms, making the game look smoother and the controls more reactive. Still, doing such majors changes all at once (game engine update and rewriting game code) is bound to briefly disrupt things and require some adaptation time. We hope you understand that this is a transition period and an investment to improve the game.
Don’t hesitate to share your feedback on our forums or social media if you encounter an issue. Our objective is to keep you updated on our progress in the coming months. The upcoming Dead by Daylight anniversary will be a great timing to give you additional visibility on our progress.
See you in the fog,
The Dead by Daylight teamThis was announced in March. Of 2019. And a year and a half later, things have gone massively downhill. A stable 30 FPS seems like a far-fetched dream.
The devs saying that they'll look into this on this thread is possibly the only acknowledgement we've had of the problems on console in a long time. Threads about this issue are -this being the exception- routinely ignored. We have crossplay now, which is a great thing but the game being more or less unplayable (on some maps, literally unplayable) on several of their major platforms isn't good enough. It's ridiculous.

They don't go on to say that...different people have different opinions like I just said...
You can want DS deleted if you like. You can want the stun buffed to half an hour if you like. I never criticised anyone for having different opinions, only for using contradictory arguments to support said opinions - so stop attacking straw.

They aren’t wrong though. The perk was never meant to only work as an “anti tunnel” perk. This is something that players that hate the perk came up with.
Yes but people say it's not an anti-tunnelling perk, which the devs have agreed with, so that makes sense. They also go on to say it only affects tunnelers. Both things can't be true.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
@Aneurysm are you so surprised that a group of people have different opinions amongst themselves? I could also generalize something like "moris are fine but keys need to be deleted" despite the fact that these two opinions are not shared by the entire group nor will any opinion often be shared by an entire group.
I'm not surprised people have different opinions, I'm commenting on people not reading beyond the title before responding. Although there are so many noed and DS threads that everyone has a copy/paste answer ready by now anyway.

It's weird how many of Laurie's perks are so easily exploitable...
I'd be inclined to think they keep her perks kinda nutty so people will buy her, but then again Quentin, Tapp, Steve etc don't have anything remotely meta so who knows.
-
They don't want DS to be counterable with perks. They increased the stun time because enduring countered it, then nerfed enduring to only work with pallet stuns while keeping the new stun duration. They even nerfed unnerving presence which used to make the skill check smaller.
-
You got clowned on bro
Why do people keep demanding that crossplay be turned off when you can turn it off yourself? Making this post is clearly more high effort than just unchecking a box in the options menu.

1. It's not strictly an anti-tunneling perk.
2. You tunneled and got butthurt you couldn't slug. That means it is doing its job.
