this is true but it's hard to believe there isn't some degree of bias when there's already an example of a perk being nerfed because this person didn't like going against it. huntress lullaby used to be a decent perk, you know.
Okay I don't think that's completely fair.
Lullaby was always terrifble

Literally every killer build I've seen them use

So killers use it to cheat as well and this means it's actually good? I'm not following your argument honestly.
-
I often am (I am now) but it's weirdly hard to get over the anxiety hurdle of the first killer match of the day. I think "agh what if they click at me and teabag me, I don't want that" and then that's exactly what happens on the first match, and I remember I don't actually care when it happens I just dislike the abstract idea of it.
-
Nurse will be back in the mix soon enough
-
If I need my survivor rating up i just swf for a while. The thing Patrick doesn't seem to get when he said (paraphrased) "your win condition may be saving all your teammates even if you die but wouldn't it be nice to be able to do all that and escape too?" is that lower skill level matches aren't easier as a solo. It doesn't matter if you can keep a frosty eyed wraith chasing you for 10 minutes straight if your teammates spend that time crouchwalking around the foliage. My last match involved a kate with no mither (against an oni too, that was great) she gets downed, I run into place with my flashlight, he lifts her up, I aim, she DCs, leaving me in not an amazing spot. So yeah I'm overdue a boost.

Omg omg hey hi yes I'm here
Okay so:
You want to commit to the chase. Especially at the start of the game, your power means as soon as you're in range they're essentially downed so it's just a matter of holding w too (at which point you will never want to use your power to catch up quicker). Get them on a hook, and begin to swing momentum until you hit your Pressure Point of No Return.
Some maps you're just screwed, like Saloon or RPD or Badham, where holding W is even more effective because of spots you can't use your power, but others you've got lots of places to use it and get downs so he's absolutely map dependent.
Leaving them means they can heal up with COH and you'll never get any map pressure; you want to build this pressure as soon as is physically possible.
Don't be afraid to M1 either. Being overly reliant on your power makes for fun games but is a terrible way to win- go for out of animation lock shots and regular zoning, look at how each survivor plays and adapt yourself accordingly. If they dodge a lot expecting through the wall POTD, then zone them. If they keep running then predict and hit them.
Now, as for your perks- Pain Resonance as PH is terrible. It's trash tier. It's hot garbage. It's genuinely awful.
You want minimal downtime to maximise time you can spend travelling the map and chasing survivors (though if they loop chases shouldn't last more than 20 second each if you're playing to win). Any Scourge Hook perk makes you want to spend more time carrying, meaning you have greater downtime which in turn will mess up your potential for momentum. Personally, I'd suggest either Corrupt + Pop or Ruin + Undying, with Infectious Fright and I'm All Ears to back these up. BBQ over Infectious for most games because Bloodpoints but again, if you're playing to win, then Infectious all the way. IMO Corrupt + Pop is a lot more consistent, but Ruin + Undying feels better because you don't have to kick gens and can just go chase to chase to chase, again removing a lot of downtime.
As for him not having much comeback, absolutely not! His torment is one of the best for accelerating hook states or eliminating a survivor and the very threat of this will make survivors play more carefully, effectively allowing for later games to be a lot better. Corrupt can help in forcing a 3 gen if you have it. Remember that the game isn't over and you always have a chance to return until the very last gen pops (and even then you can still secure kills). PH can make unhooking with you nearby ultra unsafe because of the ability to hit multiple people.
Now, how to get better. The first thing you can do is practice practice practice. I've sunk over a thousand hours into exclusively him and I still make mistakes I warn others of doing (some because I don't care about the outcome of the game and others because I just make mistakes lol). I like to flick at loops, but this takes a lot of skill and prediction and sometimes I just mess it up- it's okay, you can't win them all.
I made a guide! I'm working on updating it now but it still contains a lot of very good tips I play by to this day. Here it ia:
Also, to give you an idea of the shots I mean, here's 3 and a half minutes of me using his power to mostly good effect over 4 different matches:
Hope this can help and if you need more tips or need me to expand on something just lmk!
Edit: let me just go off on why I think Corrupt is gorgeous on him. He has no mobility ability, and therefore will traverse the map slowly. Corrupt severely limits the initial patrol route to 4 gens over 7, so even if it takes you a minute to find someone that's a minute nobody has been on gens and you can be sure of this because the gens you didn't patrol were blocked by Corrupt, making progress on them impossible. It's so incredibly useful for his early game, but obviously if survivors do nothing but get hit and run towards the Corrupted gens then leave them to keep patrolling.
Also, if a survivor runs you to another who's on a gen that you can hit easily, switch targets. The injured person will spend time healing or running back to the gen when they realise you left them but you've also interrupted someone else (got regression on the gen if you're using Ruin) and bought yourself a few more valuable seconds. In DBD as killer every single second you spend in the trial is of vital importance and one wrong decision can cost you the match. It's important you gain as much time as you can to guard against this and play as efficiently as possible if you truly want to win.
But I play for fun so I obviously don't 4k every single trial and don't play efficiently, so if you ever watch gameplay where I'm not 100% serious on winning you'll probably spot plenty of errors lmfao
that was fun to watch
-
Strong, fun to play, and nurse isn't currently an option
-
I love pentimento. You do need a build for it or dulls will just get either booned or ignored.

Anyway here's a funnier level of postgame salt. I think the pride charm gave it away...

Again one of this folks who doesnt understand the issue.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2820766#Comment_2820766
Nobody said anything like this here.
It's right there in the screenshot: "if you use it [noed] end ur life" and your response is "well you did use noed after all". There is nothing you can do in-game in DBD which includes perks, playstyle etc, which justifies that being told that. Nothing.
-
@Tiufal said:
Just be honest. Playing NOED is a sign of no skill. Youre purposely giving up a perkslot that could help you playing well the main time of the game for a perk that can completely change the results of the game at the very end and requires zero input from your side. Its hilarious how people still defend playing with their training wheels as killer.
You seriously siding with the people telling someone to kill themselves for using a perk in a game?

I didn't consider but her perks are sealed off to those who don't have them until she's back on I assume 😬

Well if he was I'm a bit surprised it looked like legit gameplay to me but if BHVR says he hacked then that's what it was, I don't understand why he would hack for such a subtle effect, if they really want to stop hacking they should set triggers in the game that are impossible to achieve with any perk combo and if something goes beyond that and it's not a confirmed bug have it immediately kick them from the game until further review
The subtlety I assume is to avoid getting banned for as long as possible. But you're right it can be hard for even very experienced players to tell if something is legit or not and it would be much simpler if the system just automatically flagged when a player is moving at a speed that doesn't make sense taking into account perks add-ons etc

Oh please enough with that video, that guy wrecked him and he can't accept he overcommit to the chase and made bad decisions there were three times he couldve gotten Dwight while he was dead on hook one time he set a crow instead of m1 during the shack window vault and the other two he literally mindgamed himself I'm just gonna throw this out there for people that haven't been around since release, hes not a very good killer don't get me wrong he's not bad but he's not really all that great Otz is just a friendly good hearted dude that interacts well with his community and is well liked and respected in the community for the way he presents himself, any tournament he's been in he's been demolished by a good squad.
The dwight in that video was later banned. You may think he was simply good at the game, bhvr seems to disagree.

Birds go bawk

Killers tunnelling someone out at five gens isn't toxic, survivors ignoring everything except gens isn't toxic, both are winning strategies, both are extremely unfun to do and to be on the recieving end of but you're not going to shame anyone out of doing them.

No offence to the guy, but I take his balance opinions with a grain of salt these days. He thinks Billy and Deathslinger are both S tier in their post-nerf states, and that Twins are S tier because they stomped the competition in a tournament he was commentating on. A tournament where, if I remember correctly, COH, Unbreakable, and literally every Twins countering perk was banned.
But I do like the guy overall. Very chill compared to some other streamers.
Long time back now but when they added demo's ability to break pallets with shred he was concerned that'd be OP. So he's always had some wacky opinions ;)
I do like him though. It's nice to see killer mains that seem to like playing killer.
-
Chris Redfield clearly has too much free time these days.
-
Sluzzy redemption arc?
Yeah it's stupid and bhvr is really inconsistent with these kind of game rules. Whether you're physically there watching your screen or not they've strongly implied, (probably even outright said at some point) that playing killer and not moving from one spot for long is reportable i.e.not engaging in "normal gameplay"

Then why are stretch res users crying about the change? If they need the fps still then they can use the black bars.
And also remember those screenshots are from before the rework, you are able to see more right now.
Where are stretched res users crying?
I'm not doubting you I just want to bathe in their pain.
-
BHVR aren't paying them lol, the youtube face is for the youtube thumbnail.
I did almost have a heart attack when I played against a friend in KYF, didn't help I'd only skimmed her power and didn't know she was a stealth killer...
-
I use nemesis + rancor + MYC + furtive chase quite a lot. Unhooking the obsession makes you exposed -and- oblivious, plus they pass the upcoming rancor effect around like a hot potato.
-
I've been playing him more. COH does hurt a lot...but tbh I rarely saw him before that anyway.
-
I like the one where you get quicker saw speed after a stun (ran with enduring), but I don't really like playing billy in general
-
Grades (what used to be called ranks) aren't used in matchmaking.

Nice!
I remember the Glass Splinters. How you could get Splinters of killers you already owned. Good times!
They should bring them back for new players. Or maybe something similar, which would make it easier to choose the next killer before buying. Buuuut i´m getting off topic.
The rage it used to cause me getting those shards when I could've had a nice mori instead :(

I think I had one faster than this without LP but I didn't record it. It was also with blight.

Afaik the brown and yellow haddonfield offerings aren't disabled.
-
Were they fun to go against at least?
-
Plague doesn't need to be a 4.4 - vile purge does nothing to help down survivors, only injure them, and while her corrupt purge is extremely strong it has way more conditions and drawbacks than the more traditional ranged killers, you have to go out of your way to get it, survivors generally need to give it in the first place, it only lasts for a short period, it notifies every survivor when it activates, it restricts her ability to hear survivors, and it makes her even easier to see coming.
If she or a killer like oni just had constant access to the strongest aspect of their power with no downsides then they'd need to be 4.4 and would probably still be too much. But they don't.
Huntress at 115 would be kinda horrible, she's already a pretty strong and popular killer already.
Slinger...idk. I'd prefer they make his addons more interesting over anything else.
Trickster would be probably be more fun to play and less to play against. Ideally they'd make him more of both although idk how they'd go about that.

I've had someone banned while forgetting to in-game report.
Actually, I had someone banned because they gloated on my steam account about being banned and having a secondary account and all I did was report them about this message with proof etc and his second account was banned as well.

😳 That's one way to phrase it I guess
-
The ear is such an obscure addon, no one really knows what it does and survivors will probably think there's something wrong with their headphones at first.
-
What is the best killer to play powerless only ;)
-
You guys are gonna get the addon nerfed aren't ya 😓
-
I rarely see lethal persuer. If you're getting it every match you could benefit from running distortion. Or run object and start teabagging them immediately, assert dominance.
-
Of course mcote hates Koreans, we all remember that hag game.
Although if a skin you don't like translates to racism or xenophobia he also hates Russians, Americans, the French, pre-CE Babylonians...
-
I don't mind so much since it rewards killers for downing + hooking, i.e. camping and slugging won't get you much value with it.
DMS also has no good synergy with ruin or pop too which is more likely to mean more variety.
DMS is kinda stupid on artist but at some point they're going to give up balancing killer perks if it's too much on only one out of many killers.

I totally agree! I also used it as a reference to a different time in development thought. I think the Devs have gotten much better at getting a broad view rather than using stats alone.
But yes, old OoO was so toxic.
Yeah if they were still fully stat-focused new boil over probably wouldn't change since the amount of BO users dying from bleeding out might be keeping things balanced

So yes it was explicitly said by a head developer which caused so much backlash on the forums that it was LITERALLY the only topic for weeks.
I was actually playing then. Don't tell me I don't know what and how it went 😂
Utimately I'm just glad they changed OoO in the end for whatever reason they did. Hated old OoO as killer (shockingly), love running new OoO, it takes a lot of work to pull off the synergy with mettle of man (as it should) but it's even more busted than the old version when you get there :p

I looked it up and that’s not what they said. One of the developers said Object of Obsession seemed to have poor performance overall so it might be a perception issue, and Cote said the perk still was being looked at though.
And if you think they didn’t rely mainly on stats when deciding what the revamp would be or if they needed to revamp it you’re wrong. I guarantee they looked at a bunch of data before revamping that perk, they don’t just make changes based on forum posts. (If they did they would have nerfed NOED a long time ago.)
During the original Q&A Almo/Ethan explicitly said that according to the statistics OoO wasn't much of a problem because it wasn't run that often and it didn't positively impact escape rates, Mcote then added, correctly, that it might be more the issue of how it felt playing against it.
-
For a VAC ban probably. I don't usually look at their profiles pregame though
-
I don't really want to have to run that many type of perks at once outside of a joke build...
The brightly coloured charm on the hooks idea is pretty big brain though
-
What if there was a website called OniFans and it was adult content but with Oni cosmetics ? 🤔

I mean just going another side of rock is pretty much enough counterplay to blight most of time, and if you do so he has to act like usual m1 killer which gets stunned by palette anyway.
I don't get where those "blight no counter" gang came from.
Oh yeah I agree, I think he's well designed.
