Dying Light and Kindred for me. But I'm biased. :)
-
I just got in a game by turning off cross-play. As Survivor on Steam.
-
PIG
And for just playing... probably Plague or Nurse.
-
What usually happens with SWF is that they get super-altruistic and refuse to leave the match unless they can get everyone out. Only at very high ranks and with SWFs that play together a lot is there much of a benefit in terms of escape rate.
That does not mean we don't want to do some things to make the solo experience better. As someone else pointed out, that's the reason for the Kindred buff.
Perhaps escape rate isn't the right metric, as SWFs can be more annoying to play against even if they don't necessarily escape.
-
Did you guys see that BIG BAD ~7% extra survival rate for 4-player SWF? So in 100 4-P SWF games, 7% of your escapes are because you were in SWF instead of solo.
SWF is not as OP as everyone thinks it is. :)
-
It was not "Externally-sponsored". It was "ROVER Team", who are the data scientists who work for Behaviour.
Just a little detail. :)
If there's a hangup on the rewards, we'll get it sorted out.

Feral Frenzy is not meant to be an offensive ability. I.e. you’re not meant to expect downs from it.
Feral Frenzy is a stalling power and is meant to discourage/punish teamwork.
This is correct. Same for Pig's traps. People were not happy they weren't getting kills with them, but they're really meant to slow the game rather than secure kills.

I'll check again, I wonder if it was Sloppy Butcher, Thanatophobia, or another perk that affected the efficiency, but it definitely has impacted Pharmacy. I genuinely can't rely on that perk for healing (for myself or teammates) anymore. I used to use it all the time and carry over my medkits consume them then nab another. That hasn't been a reliable tactic since people are now treasure diving and I can see all the chests opened in matches now. I've legit just had to bring yellow or purple medkits with add-ons and Botany Knowledge just to ensure effective healing.
Thanataphobia and Sloppy Butcher affect speed, not efficiency. So it will be slower, but you'll still get one full heal out of it. Overwhelming Presence could make it not give one full heal.

You do realize that the Styptic doesn't heal at all? You guys nerfed that.
Tried healing someone with it and left him since I thought he was going to get healed after 8 seconds. He didn't. He probably cursed me for a fool.
I'm a little concerned that a dev doesn't know how the game works.
I'm saying that you can still heal with an emergency medkit that has the Styptic on it. Just don't use the Styptic.
-
Green kit is still one full heal.

You know what's funny? If you are running Ace in the Hole and find a Medkit with a Purple Antistyptic you can't even heal anymore.
Same as with the Green Abdominal Dressing.
At least previously only brown kits with the dressing (a single combination) were useless. Now, there are two medkits that are useless and two potential add-ons which make them both useless, either the Dressing or the Antistyptic.
Not sure what BHVR was thinking not addressing these. The penalties for these two add-ons need to be changed. The dressing was designed with medkits having more than 16 charges in mind -- which was normal for all medkits aside from the brown one.
And the Purple antistyptic was designed to heal you completely, so it didn't matter if it reduced your charges.
Someone didn't think these changes through enough; the add-ons reducing charges also need to be adjusted.
Are you sure about the purple styptic agent? Activating the full heal is on secondary action. So while you are healing normally, you give the secondary action input to trigger it.

The sport flashlight (green rarity) still shows 8 seconds but with decreased battery consumption rate. Is this the same thing as an efficiency buff or is it a different situation?
That is an efficiency thing. If that changes, it will be if there is a significant Flashlight update.

The very first PTB game I played of the big Legion update was against Morf. Got a 4k; was really fun. :)

Wait, toolbox instructions still says Toolbox's repair efficiency. Was this changed or a future change?
Yes, this is in the works. Medkits got it first, we're still in the process of working on the toolboxes. I can't comment at this time when this will happen.
-
Complaints are a clue. If there are a lot of complaints we look at the thing in question. Sometimes we find the complaints have a good basis, other times we don't. But they are a good indication that something needs to be considered.
-
We removed efficiency buffs and debuffs from all items. They remain on perks. Efficiency buffs on items were just a weird way of altering the number of charges, so we removed them.
With perks it makes more sense since they operate on more than just an item, so it may need to give different raw numbers of charges. For example a perk affecting both toolboxes and medkits would need to give different numbers of charges. But an addon only works with one item, so we can simplify that and make them just mess with the charges themselves.
-
We did not change Deep Wound time just to "fix" Legion. It was an idea we came up with that could help with the Legion frustration problems, but then we evaluated it and the other ramifications it would have. We decided that it was a good idea for several reasons and went with it.

It sucks but campers will always find a way to camp anyways. If the devs actually removed Bubba and Insidious every dedicated camper would just switch to Hillbilly. The devs would literally have to make it so a killer gets teleported to the moon to stop a "determined hook camper" from camping. So I'm not sure what to tell you. Those matches suck but luckily it's a fairly rare thing.
We actually (briefly) considered teleporting the Killer after hooking someone.
Campers gonna camp; they're like that.
-
Yes, she's viable. Tough learning curve according to our data though. Low kill rate at low rank, high kill rate at high rank.
-
Sloppy + Nurse's Calling
Enduring + Spirit Fury
-
The goal was not to nerf Legion. We decided the overall benefits were worth it, and the Legion effect was small. This game is large and complex; it's hard to change anything without affecting something else. So it's always a cost/benefit analysis.
-
I agree the one above who said, "basement challenge". I have no proof, but it seems logical.

@TheRoyalOwl said:
They just decreased the mend time to 12 from 15. That's 3 seconds less for what increased speed, vaulting and certain addons are better.
I don't know why they decided to lower the DW timer but it certainty isn't a nerf.
The top mend time with Legion's two addons was ridiculous. So we considered, "What happens if we reduce mend time across the board?" Borrowed Time gets a buff, Legion gets a bit of a nerf, and some other things showed up on the list. We decided it was worthwhile to hit it across the board.
As always, we'll monitor the effect that has on the game, and act accordingly in the future.

Right now? But my DbD is not updating!
Plz don't get my hopes up, DevDaddy..Or DevMommy.
Sometimes, I find I have to restart Steam to get it to find the new beta.
-
Right now.
-
The old Tome will still be there, but its Rift will close. You can still do the old Tome's challenges for bloodpoints, and you can still unlock the lore stuff.
-
Julie, for the Suspended outfit.
-
Either Alert or Pop Goes the Weasle.
For my playstyle, anyway.
-
NOED. Someone has Adrenaline, and are injured. As you are chasing them, the last gen is done: they heal up and you hit them BAM down. That's pretty funny.
Blood Warden. Gates are open, they start goofing around and you hook one. They run to the gate... and suddenly it's a 3 or 4k. That's pretty funny too!
I like both. :)
-
I will never be completely on Edge. It's a terrible web browser.
-
There is a new Tome planned for each Mid-Chapter update. Levels release every 2 weeks, so Level 4 unlocks roughly a month before the next Tome.
-
I never get slugged when I have Unbreakable.
-
I'll give one example.
Gate is open (or certainly 99% by now). One Survivor on the hook.
It's the smart play in that case, so I do it. We have some really fun hook-trade fights in those instances. :)
-
I just checked with one of the network programmers, and he confirmed that the client pings the servers to figure out the best one to connect to. Your download region in Steam is irrelevant.

The problem is the killer can purposely not participate in the game and force everyone to depip at red ranks.
I was playing with a friend and we got a game against a Bubba that stood in the basement facing the corner all game. I did 1 full gen before I realized no one had been chased at all. My friend did a gen himself as did the other 2, then the two random survivors rushed the last gen and the gates. Because I couldn't get ANY Benevolence and didn't have time to get any Evader (due to 2 players rushing to escape which I have no control over) I depipped.
This should not happen. I get you don't want to reward people, but if the killer can purposely depip you doing this that IS a problem. The guy just refused to play, so what exactly are we supposed to do? Why do we get punished by this? It's not in my control what the killer decides to do nor is it in my control what other survivors do unless we are in an SWF together (and even then "control" is a loose term).
Just as a killer shouldn't be punished for DC's or survivor purposely dying on hooks, nor should survivors be punished if the killer refuses to play the game normally. I'm not asking for a pip, I'm just asking to not DEPIP.
Yes, there are problems with it as you correctly point out. That's all I can say at the moment.
-
Good job! :)
-
The idea is that if you only escape, and do nothing else, you get a penalty. We do not wish to encourage in any way Survivors who only wait for the gate to open, letting their teammates do all the work.

My Pig "Detection" build:
Sloppy Butcher, BBQ, Deerstalker, A Nurse's Calling. (Sometimes Thanatophobia in place of BBQ)

I think I'd say I'm a "fluid" player. I prefer stealth, but will go rescue people and take some risks if I think it has a good chance of paying off. I'm definitely objective-focused though. Totems and Generators... beware!!
-
I don't want to give unfair preferential treatment to one streamer or another in a post marked as from BHVR. :)

5/7 of those perks is Noed…… I feel like Noed is a crutch perk 100% since it kinda rewards you for losing tbh.
NOED is a stopgap in the event the Survivors do the gens too fast and ignore the totems. The Killer is not rewarded for playing badly. The Survivors are punished for ignoring a secondary objective.

I would recommend seeking out a teaching twitch streamer who plays DbD. Several streamers focus on showing how they make their decisions, and you can learn a lot from them.
I'm not mentioning any specific ones in the interest of being fair to the various streamers who do this.
