Did you change that recently? Because the percentages kept the same for somebody who actually kept track of it for 200+ bloodwebs iirc.
I checked in the editor, the numbers are there. Unless there's a bug, which is possible. But the increase is small, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was within the error bars on an experiment with 200 samples.

Are there certain ways the killer is told to play?
No. The Survivors are from the same pool of experienced players. So they play full rounds with each playing the Killer in turn. Takes a while for the full session. Methodology is very important in these things. As I can't go into 100% detail about all this, it's possible you guys will have some questions about it I can't answer. But we have data scientists around who help us construct these sessions. :)

By what standard are we measuring annoying?
We have experienced players play the old version then the new version one after the other, then they take a survey which asks questions about relative frustration and fun levels.
-
Regarding Nurse, the idea was to give Survivors some breathing room if they managed to juke a multi-blink. It's working fine, and Nurse is still ridiculous in the hands of an expert.
-
You get a higher percent of rarer items in bloodwebs when you prestige. While it's nice to get the good addons and stuff, that means each bloodweb costs more to go through.

Hold on. Did you seriously just compare a change in DbD to a change in LoL?
One being a 5v5 MOBA game of equal team sizes and an actual MMR, and one being a 4v1 asymmetrical game with completely different design and balances needs, and in desperate need of a ranking-MMR system that isn't easily abused by a Kindergartner?
No offense, but you need far, far better comparison examples. That would be like comparing DbD to Overwatch design and balance decisions.
See my comment above about LoL and DbD.

Yes, Plague is a strong Killer. I will not try to change your mind. :D

Comparing dbd with league ? Really ? 2 comletly diffrent things. Darius does not have a 60% ban rate not even in bronze and has around 30 40% and only 2% in challenger so would love to know which site you were using to get that information. And Darius is not even annoying to fight late game on early. Survivors still has all the tools to make them alot stonger then the killer
DbD is not LoL, obviously. But good game design principles are often transferrable. Their problem with Darius was the exact problem we had with the release version of Legion. High annoyance, low performance. I know that a group of people are not happy with the Legion update, but according to our data they are in a much healthier position than they were pre-update.

What about the reversed skill checks? afaik they're changing the random skill checks on the screen for those, and a reversed skill check doesn't seems to be much of a problem. I feel like its something every survivor will get used to after 3 or 4.
The reversed skill checks replace the Exhausted status effects. So it's possible to get a shaking off-center counter-clockwise skill check.
-
But in doing the update, we focused on making him more fun to play as well as against.
LoL is littered with changes they made due to characters being annoying to play against. Most notably Darius, who had a 60% ban rate, but a 48% win rate.
-
I'm biased, but I've always felt the audio design in DbD is one of its strong points.
If I gotta pick a sound I like most... hmm. The sound of a Hex perk getting cleansed. It's such a sharp sound, it really has impact.

And yet you have done this for killers. We have to adapt whenever we change characters but not survivors, checks out
Yes. Look at Killers in classic horror films. They are the thing that is different from film to film, and the victims are often interchangable across films, fitting into common stereotypes.
-
This is by design. We want players to be able to choose who they are based on their preference for the character, then not be restricted in terms of gameplay due to that decision.
-
One big difference between Fortnite and DbD for me is this:
One of them is fun to play.
;)
-
At the office, we take it to mean "Killer is camping". If the Survivor is waving, do not go for the save.
Since I run Kindred and/or Alert a lot, I'll stay away from a waving Survivor until one of my info perks shows me it's safe.
-
Sloppy Butcher, A Nurse's Calling, BBQ, and then either NOED or PGtW.
Oh yeah, I got a 4k Pig last night and did the Basement challenge with:
Lightborn, Mad Grit, Agitation and Iron Grasp.

Feng would disagree with this, I believe.

There are tournaments for DbD sure, but why should anyone care? I think there's a reason why the tournament scene hasn't grown much at all over the past 2 years, and I think it's because the vast majority of the playerbase just isn't interested in treating DbD as an eSports/tournament ready game. And I believe that's best for the health of the health of the game, honestly.
Competitive asym just doesn't make any sense (to me, at least)...pretty much every sport ever is based on both teams being equal in terms of objective and required skillsets. That's not the case in DbD. I suppose DbD tournaments have a "best of" system but I still think there's too much RNG (and admittedly, too many random bugs with most patches) for the tournament scene to be seen as anything other than a paid hobby.
Anyways, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone.
DbD tournaments are often teams of 4. Both sides play Survivor once, with one being the Killer on the other game, with some means of scoring (Emblem points, or blood points, etc).
Just like in Baseball, where the teams take turns being at bat.
So it's not 100% unheard of in sports. :)
-
Devour Hope is also ideal for Hag use. Since you need to be a certain distance away when the unhook happens, her traps are a great way to get back to where it happened.
-
Try to use his bottles to block areas where you want the Survivor NOT to go. As with Pig traps and Legion Deep Wounds, the main function of the bottles isn't to secure kills by slowing Survivors. Sure, that works sometimes. But their main purpose is the corral the Survivors into areas where it's easier to catch them.

Firstly, thank you for your response. :)
I get that. I'm just more concerned with the balancing aspect of killers after release. I tried to title the thread to grab attention, since it seems that the more bold titles get better publicity on the forums.
For instance, if the doctor turns out to be a super competitive killer (which is great!) people will inevitably complain playing as the survivor role since he's going to be played so often after the rework for a while. He's new, he's exciting, and of course people are going to want to talk about him.
Secondly, you all did a great job on the Freddy rework and I as well as others applaud those efforts, albeit there will be some that disagree and liked Freddy's old playstyle - which is unavoidable with a large player base. I also strongly like the fact that after release Freddy wasn't changed around that much which gives people time to get used to him - something I hope is also the case for the Doctor.
In regards to the reflex reactions, all I'm worried about is if people complain for you guys to change the Doctor to become weaker/stronger fresh after his rework release. Instead of waiting a while and having players get used to his new capabilities, it could be easy to overcompensate adjustments, nerf or buff. I'm sure you are all aware of this already, but I just wanted to reiterate that.
Just asking for a bit of time for the community to get used to him before adjusting one way or the other (unless something's obviously broken.) I understand you all are riding out the storm with the Nurse before making changes (albeit we can see with some consistency that her map traversal potential is the biggest qualm players have with her).
Thanks again for your response.
Cheers and happy holidays.
That is usually the plan. When new Fred first released, some responses was very negative. But over the coming weeks as people learned to use his snares, they realized he was quite good and the uproar died down. Sometimes we do need to make a quick adjustment, but that's more the exception than the rule, for reasons you point out. :)
-
We don't respond with reflex reactions often at all. The upcoming Doctor update has been in the works for months. :)

Some killers can quite easily get by without Hex: Ruin because of one thing that they have in their kit: MOBILITY.
As someone who mainly plays stealth killers, sometimes I've had 2 gens popped before I hook someone because I couldn't get to a survivor fast enough. Ruin helps me stall out just that little bit to get a hook or 2 to help me snowball later.
Quite a few killers as well have moved over to using Corrupt Intervention to force survivors towards them instead. I haven't levelled Plague, so I don't have that option.
And I believe the most used perk for killers is BBq + Chilli.
The most used Killer perk is in fact Ruin.

Sorry Almo, you're a very nice guy. But these type of addons are not even worth an one bloodpoint. Merry Christmas ❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Have a nice break! :)
-
The Killer Instinct addons aren't "useless". Maybe you don't like them, and that's totally cool! But some people do like them. :)
-
No, because bleedouts are limited to 4 minutes. It's not nice, but it's not a hostage situation.
-
Tunnelling is a natural gameplay element much of the time.
Compare to getting in a game with some guy who Moris you, and only you, immediately every match he sees you in.
This is just one example. When I tunnel people (it happens on occasion), it's often because their rescuer disappears too quickly so I'm left with only the one target, or because they're deliberately getting in my face all the time so I just make sure they're dead.
This is not "Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience".
-
We take complaints seriously. Here's a link to the information on how all that works, and what we will take action on.

I didn't know that, I thought you only got stunned, but remained cloaked.
By the way, I'll take the oportunity to say this: the other day a survivor started burning me with his flashlight until I got stunned. After the stun I could see my weapon as if I had been uncloaked by the flashlight but I couldn't use my weapon and noticed that I was still cloaked, it even said M2 to uncloak on the hud. Was it a bug? I mean are flashlights actually meant to uncloak me after the stun?
Thanks.
That sounds like a bug to me.

This month? I'm talking about the month before and the month after the Big Legion Gameplay Update a while back.

It can't be much shorter than about 15 sec, or Madness 3 would be really unfair. If you're in M3, you must Snap Out Of It before you can mend.

I always appreciate stats, because they bring something to look for in the jungle of 1001 opinions, moods and standpoints.
I also think that the new Legion patch was a good one - otherwise I would have still stay away from dbd.
Still, the Legion was nerfed so much with the first Legion patch, that I think that the Legion could need 1-2 small patches.
The first big Legion update did not significantly alter their killrate. It did, however, lower the DC rate against them by 40%. So I remain unconvinced that it was a nerf.

This is not what happened. When we've been testing the Doctor, I ask the players "is it fun?" The general impression ranges from same amount of fun to much more fun. Personally, I like the new one a lot better in terms of Killer fun.

You guys are nerfing Doctor because of concerns that he's not fun to play against, but why do you never care about what killers find annoying? You only answer questions from survivors and balance around what they want.
A) It's not a nerf.
B) We do care about what annoys Killers. This was why the insta-heals were changed.

The range add-ons also have a long-ass charge time. You can’t anti loop with them.
Also you guys actually have experienced playtesters? I’m surprised given some of the bugs that have made it into the live builds.
Testing for fun/balance is not QA testing, so those are different people. And in defence of our great QA team who look for and report bugs: combing over a game as gigantic (how many perks? how many addons? how many killer powers? interactions between all the combinations of 20 perks +10 addons in a game?!?) as DbD for bugs is a monumental task. Those guys should get credit for the work they do. What our players don't see is the massive number of bugs that do get found and fixed before they ever show up live.
-
@Ihatelife said:
@Peanits The doctor changes will come in the mid-chapter update?
Yes.
-
The range addons are not removed. They are not increasing the range as much as they used to (I mean come on, 50% and 75%?!?), and they no longer widen it. You can still get bonus range if you want that.
In our playtests which include a lot of highly experienced players, the surveys say that Doc is more fun to play, and not nearly as annoying to play against.
My personal opinion is that trying a Moba-like Ultimate/Nuke ability (high power, high cooldown) is a nice addition to the range of things we can do with Killers.
I really recommend trying this thing before freaking out about it. Apprehension about a change to a Killer you like is natural, but let's just not panic yet. :)
