Wait.. how are Blight and Nurse fun to go against?
Nurse can ignore EVERY loop and there is no way to counter her unless the player is terrible at playing her.
Blight is so oppressive with gen regression perks.
At least u still have a chance to save the survivor if a M1 killer is hard camping/tunneling but against Nurse or Blight there is nothing you can do, they can ignore even decisive strike coz you cant make any distance after hitting your DS if you are playing against Blight or Nurse.
Wow, really? Either you are actually BaitTheFox or you are the broken record of the broken record, because you talk like someone trying to caricature "ba basic survivor main who only ever complaints hurdur".

I am a big fan of the Kindred and Open Handed combo.
Kindred offers so much info and helps a lot in coordinating, even if you can't talk to each other, and the added radius of Open Handed lets you keep tabs on the killer when he isn't guarding the hook any more. Really, the area is so massive that its borderline unfair for the killer and you can so easily move out of sight. I sometimes regret unhooking someone, just for the info on the killer :D
-
Pyramid Head is so good, I tried to look up which Silent Hill his theme music is from, and it turns out that it is an original work from BHVR that just sounds and feels like Silent Hill. Marvelous. And his chase music is awesome, too and is just the right mixture of subdued panic and encroaching danger.
Demogorgons menu music is also a favorite. Its otherworldly and scary and you don't feel immediate danger, but also never entirely save.
Lastly, The Twins music is probably a bit underappreciated. Its not earily beautiful or scary or exotic or anything, but its quite fitting. I think it reminds me a bit of Diablo 2 and could have been a town music there without feeling out of place.

I wish they made an option just for healing and gens. I keep getting grabbed while unhooking, messing up sabo cooldown and opening gates I am trying to 99% because I forget I am on toggle.
I know what you mean, but on the other hand we can't get all out QoL wishes fullfilled, right? There need always be some small imperfection left so that you can strive to make everything even better. So leave it in for now.
Oh and the first few times I wanted to wave from the hook and signal my comrades in arms that the killer was camping and nearby, I tried to unhook myself right in front of the killer and went down again.

The luck offerings give +1-3%, with the Salty Lips giving +3% to all. Up the Ante would give another +9% if all survivors are alive, but they didn`t field that.
Slippery meat increases the chance by another +4%. So in this match everyone had a 20% Kobe chance. Maybe some kobe happened, but I didnt notice.

Well ... like I said, all in all it was a fun match and they didn't do any of the bully stuff that I expected, when the gens just flew by. I don't know if it was the headtraps or if they just wanted to meme without malicious intent. But the match could have been over at 3:40min

Why is that toxic?
Why do people consider tunneling at 5 gens toxic? Or taking the first hook into the basement for a BBQ session? Some things are not considered a friendly way to start a conversation.

4 brand new parts to me is considered toxic
Yeah, I know what you mean, but their attitude wasn't, ie they didn't try to purposefully annoy me, rapidly fast vault, t-bag or dragged the game on by 99%ing all their gens etc.
So I took this with some humor and in the end it was a sorta fun match. But with ill intend, this could have turned pretty ugly.

That's strange I got a merciless from a match that had 3 iri medals and 1 gold
Here, I found a screenshot of back then. Wanted to document it because it was so darn frustrating.
And this two are from the same gaming session, but a bit earlier. I didn't take pictures of the full medal loadout, just the details of the one category that was missing, but I remember that I was pretty miffed about it. I got the Adept Artist later, but with Pyramid Head I had three or four games, where I didn't qualify for it by a sliver, and I then gave up and waited till the grades reset.

Agreed like for survivors they just have to escape with their 3 perks meanwhile you have to get a near perfect game for killers
Depending on the day of the month (unless you didn't play at all) you very much need a perfect game. When I tried for my Adept Pyramid Head while at Iri ranks I got a three times within grasping range, but always needed one sacrifice more, or had to win one more chase etc. 3 Iri medals + 1 gold weren't enough..
-
Peeps are always saying that I am writing bills, but I would say that it's just the optimal amount of text in order to get my thoughts across :>
-
This is some awesome sauce!
Such a smol step that went a long way to appease us bloodthirsty mob of people. See? It's very much possible and sometimes all that's needed are a few tweaked numbers.
-
A few things need to be mentioned here: first, the grades are not used for matchmaking, as they, in theory, denote no skill.
Grades reset every month at the 13th from whatever lofty hight you got, backcto the lowest grade, ie Ash4.
Its just an incentive for players to play a lot, and the more you play, the more good games you'll get and rank up. You can't lower your grades anymore, you can lose pips within a grade, but don't go deeper. So in essence grades are just a marker of how much a player played since the last reset.
Indirectly it also denotes a certain skill: the more you play, the faster you will rank up, and while everyone can probably get to Gold 1 by just pumping in enough hours, to raise into and within the Iri ranks needs you to play consistently good well. Its easier to get to Killer Iri1, though then Survivor Iri1, because you have no potential teammates to pull you down or sabotage you.
In the past ranks were used for matchmaking, but todays grades are only there for bragging rights, even though people still confuse grades with skill.
That being said, todays killer population is much, much smaller then the survivor one. You see this especially with queue times in the evening, when survivors can queue for up to 20min,while killers get 15s instant ques.
And a smaller population also means that most killers are capable, or that there are more capable killers. So fix the killers QoL problems and you will dilute the high saturation of strong and very good killers.
-
The Dovahkiin. Don't care which side, just give us a new perk class: Shouts.

@Audiophile said:
I dont think this should be allowed. All it does is benefit campers even more. The killer should not be able to block hook saves. THe fact that they can do it while stopping another save with the grab is ridiculous. This should be looked at.
So unless the Killer plays it super perfect, three survivors can 100% save their teammate and get away. Is this fair? You call it unfair when the Killer manages to defend his hooked survivor. How would you solve the problem? The extremes and outliers always show the weak spots in a system, but you must also look at all the things it does right.
A killer has to fight hard for his hooks, very few survivors go down without a fight and a hefty time investment, and time is the most precious currency that killers have. And that's why a hook that's taken away hurts a lot.
One survivor can unhook another one savely when the killer is away, if he is nearby they can only trade, most of the time.
Two survivors can nearly always unhook and rescue a team mate, while 3 is nearly guaranteed.
That's why killers will strive to turn the 4v1 into a 3v1 asap. Then the remaining team must decide if they want to risk an unsave unhook or not, but they can't do both and stay on repairing a gen. With a 4v1 they can have the cake and eat it.
Depending on the hook in question sometimes the killer can wholly bodyblock one side and control the flow of the survivors around it, but that's not a given. Its far more likely for the rescuers to breach through and get away with everyone.
So this are just some mechanics and principles behind hooks and unhooking.

I know but I still think it's not for this game. I mean, not all games HAVE a catch-up mechanic.
Hell, I really only think some racers do. I can't think of an FPS, RTS, TBS, or 4X game that has a catch-up mechanic.
Mario Cart gives the last player way better items from item boxes, and this is not the most beloved mechanic, as there are many instances were the leading driver was hit by a super shell and thrown toward the last place :D that's not a good example of a catch-up mechanic.
-
I know what you mean. But I see it too often these days that people give up when they are losing, and catch up mechanics could be a flexible bonus that keeps people in the game instead of giving up.
-
@AngyKiller said:
Because no one would like to lose due to a mechanic saying 'You're playing too well' and rewarding their opponent, and then that snowballing.
Imagine if I had 2 people slugged, 1 on hook, and 1 on my shoulders, and the game said 'Na, fam.' and gave the 2 slugged Adrenalin, they get up, unhook the 1, and now I have 1 hooked and 3 running around. There goes my sure win, not because of Survivor skill, or me making a mistake, but because the game decided 'Here's a free pick-me-up for being out-played'.
This were just some brainstorming idea and I sure got overboard with it, but at least some few percentage buffs and debuffs could be implemented? Of course just as long as one side is clearly winning. And tbf, we already have a penalty for playing too well: the sweaty heights of MMR.
-
How about:
The Legend of Zelda!
Zelda, Link and Mr. Barten from the Lonlon Milk Bar or Tingle as survivors and Pig Gannon, Gibdo (the Zombie) or Skull Kid as killers.
We could look at some other Nintendo franchises, as these will never get green lit.
Suitless Samus Aran and Ridley.
Diddy and Trixy Kong and King. K. Rule
Terra and Locke vs Kefla
Cloud and Tifa/Aeris vs Sephirot. Yuffi as a legendary Feng cosmetic.

Considering how many people bring flashlights in my games I honestly want to try it out and see how it goes. Not joking.
Picking someone immediately without looking for those pesky flashlight addicts to chase away could save some time. Sometimes people go down in the open and there is no way to counter it except going for the savers.
Now Imagine a perk that counters pallet saves lol.
Best way to use Lightborn is to play like you dont have it equipped, ie lool away and at a wall when picking someone up, when someone tries to blind you look up and try to avoid their flashlights etc. If you make it obvious that you got Lightborn, then they will stop trying to blind you, while if you fake it convincingly, you can actually benefit from wasted survivor time and attention potentially the whole trial. And it just feels so good being that deceptive.
-
Indeed. You don't need to penalize the disconnected player, as they could be having a legitimate DC/internet problem, but neither should the killer be penalized when they are going for a challenge and played it good or even perfectly till this unfortunate event.

The worst is when your teammates kill themselves straight away and the killer proceeds to face camp the next survivor they catch. Like it's already a loss for us but face camping just further ensures an easy 2k+ lol
Solo queue has been beyond depressing lately, almost every match has face camping for me and the part I don't understand is they're all red rank 1 killers like I thought killers weren't supposed to get very far by face camping?
I guess if you want to get to rank 1 killer just face camp and use a late game build with NOED. I'm going to try this myself since it seems every killer is doing it these days and as long as they're getting solo queue survivors they'll just consistently wipe them. Even against swfs face camping + NOED can and usually does result in 2ks since gen rushing doesn't allow time to get all 5 totems. I understand that killers want the capability to secure a kill but it's the fact that there's nothing at all survivors can do against that other than "do gens faster and leave and let them have it".
In the end its just toxicity feeding toxicity. Camping leading to gen rushing leading to camping in a never-ending circle of hate, misery and the destruction of hope, just like The Entity planned. Clever bastard.
But for real, it's this mind-numbing being trapped in sweaty and unfun games, not one or two, but all day, every day.
To be fair, it was better, but apparently something about the MMR formula seems to got tweaked, as we all seem to feel it. Or the end of the event compelled everyone to play at their most aweful, because now the BP grind is back to its old ugly self.

To be fair the tome did get me to play her and now she's my favorite killer to play besides pre boon legion and bubba and I won't lie if 50/50 pig was still around I would do the one or 2 games of it "afk" pig is just boring
And there is nothing wrong with that. A tome is always a great opportunity to revisit killers or survivors and their perks, that you neglected a bit.
But I got the feeling that its the poor Pig mains that will feel the brunt of the AFK Pig aftermath, when the real culprits drop her like she's hot, no pun intended.

My killer queues have been instant for a month and I was getting a hodgepodge of survivor players during peak hours. Now it's peak hours and I'm waiting 3+ minutes for a killer game and I'm getting nothing but major league gaming squads. It's ######### awful. Played Pig for the tome and I got 1 hook and 10k points against a Team Oracle. I'm also noticing that it's taking longer to initiate a chase and chase is dropping earlier. It feels different like something is broken. This update sucked
Actually, that mirrors my experience somewhat. My killer queues were still mostly instant, but the rest was spot on.
35s into the match the first gen popped or a match, where I brought party streamers, endes sub 5min with no one getting more then 20k.
I played 5 or 6 matches today and all but one were totally aweful and against the sweatiest sweat squads and most efficient gen rushers.
-
@fulltonon said:
every survivors have at least some percentage of chances to escape, hatch exists.
Ah yes, I forgot about that one. Well yes, then AFK pig is fully legit with no problem at hand.
-
And most killers don't camp, because they think it's the stellar super duper fub method, but because they are frustrated by the state of the game and how they can't get a foot on the ground for several games in a row and they don't want to be laughed out of the gate with 0K, again!
Camping is unfun for sure, but so is getting gen rushed like mad (today I had my first gen pop 35s into the match), having each and every of your attempts to score a tiny victory utterly thwarted (bodyblocking, protection hits, breakout, sabotaging, boil over, flashlight saves, take your pick) and the rest of he time the survivors just disrespecting and BMing you. The fun for the killer in that is pretty marginal, I can assure you.
You can either bear with it, just suck it and let your MMR tank with each 4E and just hope for a better match next trial... or say f-it and camp and tunnel, because you know that it will annoy the opposition.

They absolutely can progress the game. They will just possibly die in doing so (not if there's only one Survivor being boxblocked, though). Not the same thing.
Statistically, one survivor will die because their lies is in the blocked off box and they are sorta a dead man walking, because they will be on death timer once the first gen is done. If your key is in the garded box there is nothing you can do to avert this doom, but to wait out your timer or walk through the opened exit gates.
This is the "fun" part of the AFK Pig, ie getting literal kills while doing nothing and being AFK. If RNG is in your favor, you could also get more then one kill, if you roll extremely well, there might even be a 4K in it. And that's what is sitting wrong with me: bodyblocking one person is bannable, even if the other players could easily proceed the game towards the EGC, while the tactic that will on average kill 1 person automatically, and has a non-zero chance of causing and unavertable 4K, is not such an offense.
I know that this might be a bit of splitting hairs, but BHVR has always been about splitting hairs with their rulings about holding the game hostage, ie if you can proceed the game, no matter how slow and painful, no hostage situation is at hand. That's why this AFK Pig ruling surprised me.

"But still, it seems that either a) they decided that the AFK pig is okay or b) this stuff is always decided by stomach feeling of the person who answers the ticket."
I cannot say anything to b), but for a), they did not say that. They indeed just said that you will not get banned.
Because, a Pig standing in front of a Box, does not really hold someone hostage. There is a difference between a Killer/Survivor blocking a Survivor in a corner and a Pig blocking one Box. The Survivor can still search other Boxes, do Gens or do Totems, the Survivor blocked in a Corner cannot do anything.
Not the most enjoyable game experience either way, but not holding someone hostage.
However, not banning does not mean they are ok with it. Worst case they nerf the Add-Ons to make it impossible to do that. And if this happens, I hope that the people who complain (and people will complain) focus their anger on those who used this "strategy", because they are the ones who might get those Add-Ons nerfed.
I know what you mean, but the situations are similar enough.
I said it before, and I'll say it here again: the true tragedy of this situation is that Pig getting nerfed is a meme by now, a self-deprecating joke, but the people abusing this AFK Pig tactic (and please, don't try to split hairs about what is abuse and what's not) will get her nerfed again, this time for a legit reason.
And I guarantee you that the vast majority of these "lulz LMAO they die trying to boop my AFK snoot" peeps ain't Pig players at all, most won't have touched Pig in a year and only got her out because of the tome and that Youtube video detailing this tactic, and they will lose interest ib her again once this add-on is nerfed. This will leave the true Pig mains as the only victims of this nerf
-
On the killer side I got just gen rushing squads today. One game I had my timer up and the first gen popped 35s into the trial, I kid you not.
Another match, where I brought Party Streamers, ended sub 5min, leaving everyone below 20k BP.
So what's up, everyone? Ya'll salty that the event is over and now ya'll play like your worst?
-
@TAG said:
I mean, that much was obvious. A stalemate is not the same as holding the game hostage
But it was also confirmed just yesterday or the day before (by Mandy) that bodyblocking a single character in a way that they can't progress the game, even though the other 3 survivors could do gens and progress to the EGC, would be considered a bannable offense. It was added that you would need to do so for several minutes, not just a short amount of time.
But still, it seems that either a) they decided that the AFK pig is okay or b) this stuff is always decided by stomach feeling of the person who answers the ticket.
In practice I think that they are both pretty similar, ie one survivor can't progress the game due to the killer blocking off their ability to do so by positioning, while the rest of the team can easily finish. So it has a little whiff of arbitrary decision making to allow one while condemning the other of they are so similar; I'll admit though that with AFK Pigs tactic there is a non-zero chance that you could affect more then one survivor, up to a 4K tpk, no matter how unlikely.

I enjoy Pyramid Head a lot as well, I just hate how janky his power feels sometimes
It feels like there's some kind of animation bug where the 'fire' animation is faster/slower randomly when you use punishment of the damned. Not sure if you've ever experienced it but it's weird
The tentacle flick with Nemesis is super fun to use, I love it.
Pyramid Heads greatest power IMHO is not actually using his power, but just threatening with it.
You zone them towards a pallet, you lower your cleaver, they run past the pallet. Like 97% of the time. Or with window vaults; they might bait it, but agree most often too scared to actually make the jump, so be ready and just smack em.
In most of my Pyramid Head matches I rarely fire off a shot, but I constantly threaten to do so. Luckily most survivors don't know how clunky it aims :D
-
Also, if someone intensely flashlight clickety clicks and/or t-bags you, they 99% are a god-level looper and purposefully try to annoy you and bait you into a pointless chase that you'll loose.
The best counter? Immediately brake chase with this persons. You might think "dayum, now they can do a gen unfazed" but again, in 99% of the time the chase was their entire game plan and they will often follow you to bait you a bit more, or at least hover around you to flashlight save the next survivor you down.
This is one less survivor doing gens, and if you expect it you can often bait a free hit if you actually down someone. With Trapper or Demo you can do the best baits, ie start putting down a trap/portal on the downed survivors and the cheeky saver might jump out of their hiding place, thinking that you're locked in the pickup animation. Just release M2 and smack them. But you just standing ib place of the pickup is often enough to bait the saver out.

Good tip! Another is to never think it's over until it's over. There have been many times where the survivors look like they are trouncing you, and it still ends in a 4k.
One more is be unpredictable: sometimes try a mind game and others just blunt force it. Pull some risks and mess about a bit. If nothing else, it'll be fun to experiment!
Sometimes the most effective mind game is no mind game. They might expect you to moonwalk, to wait at that Windows other side or to suddenly switch direction, but sometimes they just don't expect you do just come for them.
Or another hilarious one:when you can't see each other and you have to decide to go either left or right, you might just wait and let them decide
Doesn't always work, of course, but add this to your repertoire of tricks.

Day 63:
My skin has regained its rosy complexion. Sun no longer scars and burns it, but, puzzlingly, feels pleasantly warm and invigorating.
The air now doesn't induce a severe coughing fit and I actually can smell the sweet fragrance of long forgotten flowers.
I went for a walk in the forests today and was nearly dumbfounded by the sheer amount of stimuli, my senses turned up to the max, my soul taking all the vibrant signs of life in, drinking it up like a brittle, dedicated sponge that sprung back to a new life.
I will continue to monitor this miracle.

And here I thought someone wanted an even greater bubble butt, we were both baited.
I must say that I am always amazed by Pyramid Heads arms. They got no bulging biceps, but look like they belong to a very dangerous individual.. which they frankly do. And his lopsided idle stance looks pretty wrong and painful, but when he relaxes once in a while his shoulders are perfectly level and straight... which just emphasizes how wrong his default stance is.
But I guess his bubble butt has more fans, so blow it up!

Well, everyone already addressed the main issues. So I hope for a more foreboding and scary atmosphere, this is supposed to be a cold, foggy and moist October night, aka Halloween or Hallows Eve, but it feels more like a hot summer night where you can't sleep and lounge a bit outside. And while there are some interesting pictures on the walls, most houses are just shells. This is the case in most houses and places in the game, but Haddonfield used to be lived in, until just a moment ago, so maybe they can take this opportunity and add a few furnitures or toyscin Myers room or girly stuff in Laurie's etc.
-
And here I thought someone was complaining about how clunky his projectile feels. Silly me :P Yeah, plz nerf. I guess people are seeing way too many Pyramid Heads these days.

I got 97k with my first Survivor pudding garnished with some BBQ. That seems to be one if the last perks of playing killer these days, but I'll take it.
Got Oni to P2 Lvl 40ish. I am torn if I should go P3 with him as his mask is already so red that you hardly see the blood on it and I actually prefer the white mask of his Nobleman Outfit.
