Yeah true. I know multiple peope with 3k-5k hours who not only can't identify killer perks, but don't even know the names of the killers ("it's the robot guy"). One didn't know what a hatch offering did either, or why I was 4%ing with 4 gens up and only us two left.

I guess I just stopped playing with people like that and forgot they existed. They sure aren't beating the console player reputation.

as a console player i feel pretty called out haha but those are my friend groups (I play solo q survivor to hope for better teams)

  • haywire was the straw that made me want to delete Singularity. Awful, boring killer that nobody plays or likes and all use sweaty strategies like slugging at 5 gens. And he's the reason we can't have nice things. yuck

Phantom Fear is an awesome and cool perk and its very on brand with fnaf 3 very cool

This sounds like someone with low hours and low knowledge. All you have to do now is check teammates perks. If I see someone cleansing a dull totem I check it and sure enough it's almost always Inner Strength or Overzealous. Even before that I generally assumed an injured person getting in a locker was Inner, and that others were Built to Last, or that they were countering aura.

you'd be surprised; plenty of people hit the "average mmr" level of 3,000 hours and become exhibit A of Dunning-Krueger syndrome. They hit a certain skill level and choose to stay there.

  • I thought about it for Krasue but idk who else would even consider it

  • I do fairly well with Strength in Shadows and maybe Bond, Empathy or a key you get infinite heals at decent speed, plus the basement aura to get you back in the killers face

Wacek playing Trickster is legendary especially when he ended Hens escape streak

oh, it was him? that's crazy. that makes him even more impressive to me because I started watching dbd the second I started playing it, Christmas Eve when Twins was the newest killer(Trickster was my 1st new killer, speak of the devil) I immediately popped into Otz stream because I knew him from Dark Souls and it was there I fell for Hens at first sight. even as a day 1 player I thought Hens was crazy.

  • I like to think I'm one of the more decent Legions out there.

Watching Wacek play Trickster was honestly inspiring after a rough day of being pre ran. Gave me the motivation to keep powering through the bad matches

dont remind who it belongs to, i see his face everywhere i go…

I guess you could say none are free from him...we are forever entwined to suffer nothing but misery

  • None Are Free is a perk that None Are Using(can you, dear reader, guess which killer this perk belongs to without googling it?)

it's not even a bad perk by itself, just another victim of Opportunity cost more than anything. However, if you pair None Are Free with either Rancor or NOED you will strike fear into your victims hearts. In fact, just the mere Entity blocking of the pallets is one of those "...uh that's not good right?" moments.

Finding that sneaky Lara with Finesse with 0 hooks at the end is honestly one of my greatest joys as killer

  • I play solo survivor to de stress from 4x Finesse abusing pre runners. The thing about solo q is the variance and not understanding your team roster but as a rule of thumb, if everybody on a team plays in good faith then I don't think its so bad. But people genuinely can have thousands of hours in dbd and never strive to improve or reflect on their gameplay, always use the same perks and strategies and never adapt etc. this makes losing as killer more bearable.

I get worked up and get misanthropic but that's because I actually try. For example, on the weekend I had a Vittorio getting tunneled out by Jason after somebody else got tunneled out on Lerys, a map infamous for being hard to coordinate. However, I like to pretend I'm a SWF so I like to roll Strength in Shadows+Bond. With perfect Discord accuracy, I kept taking hits for him and running back to the basement. I could only do this thanks to perks, but the tools are there if people want to try. I've also been the world's biggest Empathic Connection fan anybody who plays in my games can count on me.

Please don't use Vanishing Box without Front Page Article as it makes it so you take minutes to gain another hallucination

the nerfs are rough but it's doable, I just try to put my hallucinations right out of LoS and try to keep the initial momentum going as long as possible.

the reason I still use this old combo is that it's a very front loaded build in terms of pressure, survivors spawn in already being pressured and with Lethal Pursuer, somebody is taking an injury in the first 10 seconds. Most teams will recover at some point, which is where the comeback happens. I like having some free Weakened for when that happens.

    Distortion

A Perk nerfed because of "rat behavior", except that this was not really an issue with Distortion. Rat behavior is rare and even without Distortion it happens, most likely even worse. The real reason was that Killers did not find Survivors, even tho I really question how Killers manage to do it then when they dont run any Aura Perks at all…. The Perk was not a problem to begin with and became useless.

    Calm Spirit

Not sure if that counts, since Calm Spirit was always a bad Perk. But for some reason they decided to buff it and thought that this buff of opening chests and cleansing Totems while being silent would justify its nerf. Pre-"Buff" Calm Spirit was better than the current version. IMO if they REALLY want to keep the action speed penalty, it should only apply inside the Killers Terror Radius and you just dont have the silent effect when outside of the TR (because there would be no need to be more quiet if the Killer is far away). Would also be a neat little Buff for Stealth Killers.

(At least they corrected their error of "buffing" a Perk with Pharmacy…)

    Boon: Circle of Healing

I guess I will farm a few Downvotes with that one, but the Perk is just way too bad now. And with that, all Boon-Perks are way too bad. Circle of Healing was perfect in the version right before the current one. Increasing Heal Speeds by 50% and allowing to heal yourself with Self Care-Speed. This made the Perk more useful while still having the time investment to not make it too strong. The current version just has too big of a time investment (setting up the Boon AND going into the Boon Area to heal). If you want to heal quickly, just equip WWM or Botany Knowledge.

    Balanced Landing

Probably not "nerfed to the ground", but IMO made so worse that it is just not worth running aside from personal preference. I cannot understand why an Exhaustion Perk which is only useable in very specific locations, sometimes not useable due to Map RNG AND on some maps not useable at all because they dont spawn any structures to use it on should be so weak. It should either get its Stagger Reduction back or an increase in Haste, because a Perk like Lithe or Sprint Burst have the same Haste values while being able to be used everywhere.

And the worst part is that Balanced Landing was only nerfed because of Haddonfield back then which then was still not enjoyable to play for Killer. The BL Nerf was just laziness, the Perk can get its Stagger Reduction back with minimal changes to the Maps.

    Monitor & Abuse

Simply because the change from flat values to percent completely missed the point of M&A. M&A was used and good on Killers with low Terror Radius to make it even lower. Meanwhile, it was bad on Killers with big Terror Radius, since it would not really help them that much. The change to percentage made it way less useful for Killers which actually want to use M&A and still irrelevant for Killers who dont care about the Perk.

    Reassurance

Did not make it out of PTB due to concerns because of Killer Mains for Survivors (and TOTALLY NOT because it would have made camping extremely useless against someone with Reassurance /s). PTB-Reassurance would only have one usecase, but it would basically eliminate camping so that the Killer would need to go after other Survivors instead of (proxy)camping. Being a one time use per Hook Stage is just not enough.

An obvious answer would be Mettle of Man, but I wont include that since it was a pure cashgrab perk to begin with.

Calm Spirit buffs made me so happy; silent bone tickling is so cool! But I'm genuinely baffled because I feel like bhvr genuinely feared a Calm Spirit meta if they just gave it a flat buff with no compensation nerf....they gave Calm Spirit of all things the killer addon treatment.

  • call of brine at least has a permanent home with Nemesis at least :( nobody thinks of Nemmy as a chess killer but at 1 gen left CoB can make those zombies force survivors into a war of attrition

  • I don't mind a sunny version once in a while, particularly Thompson House. I just would like both

  • springtraps loot bag+ security badge I like to run Rancor on him, when I think a gens gonna pop i head in a door. Sometimes the double whammy of Obsession not seeing my aura+ people messing around can cause survivors to seize defeat from the jaws of victory

I never play wesker, but when I do, his super lunge and super throw addons are fun. I think the addon that grabs farther makes you lose some hits getting stuck on nothing but abducting people and throwing them into completely dead corners is nice

this is the most basic unknown build but Vanishing Box and Captured by the Dark truly are his best addons and always will be. Spawning in Weakened will always be the 5 seconds that people are afraid of the Unknown

  • I miss 150% WGLF.

you know what I despise most as killer? uninteractive games where people refuse to engage with the killer and pre run the whole game, protecting themselves with comms/auras, and 2 layers of Exhaustion(exhaustion+ Finesse) they'll camp comp corners and unplayable tiles until they get the all clear

this is so utterly boring and is sadly my common experience. if you play to this level you have to be a ruthless jerk who ruins peoples day in order to have a chance for a 2k. at this level , killers like Pinhead are actually terrible, useless killers.

but there was a brief period where WGLF was overbuffed and suddenly survivors started feeling invincible and started disrespecting me by making bold moves in front of my face. and you know what, I miss it. Interactions are moments that could cause mistakes. That, and these matches proves bloody with lots of BP going around. Everyone wins, I think. it was genuinely fun to run as survivor, too.

I don't ask for much as killer I just wanna stab everybody a couple times, chase everybody once etc. if a match vibe is good I don't care if I let everyone go or they all escape.

  • we had Prime Ghoul terrorizing Blood Moon i wouldn't count on it

  • @ArkInk said:

A once per trial use ability where he pulls a Tommy Gun out of nowhere and starts blasting survivors away would make my heart flutter, though obviously introducing a hitscan rapid fire weapon into the game would be an entire process I imagine.

Art getting this before Nemesis getting a one time Umbrella supply drop would sadden me. But it would also give me hope.

Bro is now posting every ######### pallet on the maps and thinks those are the reasons he is losing games.

could be skill issue, but I can't blame him either because spawn logic has been changed in the past with little or no documentation. I personally remember Skull Merchant era getting more clustered gens to enable 3 gens and nobody talked about that (RPD used to never have 2 main lobby gens) Can't blame people for being paranoid.

I have no clue so I'm not tossing my hat into this race

  • if we can have map showcases why can't we have killer showcases? get stacking BP multiplier for each teachable slapped on so you use at least one, maybe.

  • I think Art will be more interesting than Jason I'm quite curious myself.

Forced Hesitation isn't that bad. It's range is pretty limited. The slug builds that are going around never include it. The problem is Infectious and Coul.

it's a relief that forced Hesitations range isn't the same as a killers terror radius

I honestly don’t remember the last time I saw this perk used in one of my survivor matches. It’s been a very long time. The fact that I basically never see it used, ever, tells me that it’s not very problematic.

before basekit moris this perk was a little more popular I feel. Moris were kinda pay to use back then.

I mean i am a very oblivious person, but did detect the sarcasm, i was just trying to be funny

I thought it was. don't mind those other people

  • xeno top tier is crazy, but not crazy enough to dispute imo. I feel their weakness comes from the human mind that shuts down from being turret blasted. That and they are a very inconsistent killer, I'd argue Xeno is one of the worst killers to streak with. Inconsistent, and fighting people who know how to counter you is exhausting. it's hard to find people who can stick to this killer.

and yet, they are Potential Killer just like Unknown and Pyramid Head. Xenos tail nerfs these days gives them even more lethality if you aren't afraid of embarrassing yourself.

I think Bubbas not better than Freddy hate to say it. We all love to see Bubba though

  • not gonna lie I got excited that maybe I missed a Jason perk or something (no holds barred) i had to Google that..

that build seems like it could be solid. no actual regression either, just constant pressure . it's nice to see piggy doing better these days

  • the obvious one is loot bag for springtrap. it's crazy how that addon does literally nothing in 99% of games but it improves my mentals

please keep tbagging me, I'm just going to remember that later. I run Rancor a lot on him and try to time my door travels with gen pops so sometimes if im lucky the tbagger quite literally misunderstands the situation they are in and gets insta morid at the gate with 0 hooks

  • Jason feels like a chess killer to me; I'd rather play Skull Merchant 2 again aka Clown 2.

  • it should be showing people in your terror radius even in lockers so no info means they are not nearby. if they are, perhaps they were Oblivious or you were Undetectable.

  • I don't believe meta matters when it comes to getting crushed; it's going to happen regardless. No amount of meta will save you from 4 Lara's.

It's why I say these past couple years that the meta doesn't matter. Yeah, you can scientifically prove to me that Pain Resonance is one of the more powerful perks in the game but power alone doesn't win dbd matches....it's windows of Opportunity (and not the perk!) and capitalizing on them when they present themselves. Seeing as how you can face different perks every game, these windows are RNG. But they are there. There's tons of crap perks in dbd, they fail because of Opportunity cost with 4 slots. However, in any given match there could be moments where these lame perks could have been game changing, like a critical Mad Grit play, or Spies from the Shadows or Iron Maiden.

So I play what I want. I'm gonna crush, have even matches, and get crushed all the same so why sweat it? A lot of my builds are specialized trash(I use Treacherous Crows+No Mither, or play wolf only Drac for fun) I don't feel any need to conform to a meta post 6.1 to be honest. Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and Dead Hard were simply leagues beyond everything else. No BT was actually straight up trolling.

  • @wesker_shades said:

The main issue most players have with hex builds these days is the overabundant use of Thrill of The Hunt, which slows down cleansing speed to a crawl. This is especially bad when paired up with a killer that has fast map traversal, and can also inflict injuries easily to activate Hex: Face the Darkness.

I wonder which version of Thrill is more unhealthy for the current game. Was old Thrill on Artist gonna be worse than the current Thrill builds we have now?

  • depends, honestly. the OoO user can be the one calling out perks to a 4man, however sometimes its best to leave them be doing whatever it is and just make a mental note of it sometimes they appear at bad times which can help you mount pressure. for example, 1 guy on hook nearing 2nd stage, you see one guy coming in for the save and you see OoO user healing somebody else far away, that's your cue to camp the hook and force 2nd stage.

I have Pinhead Brain so I very much appreciate knowing where people are. I take the chase if it's free, because OoO is simply dangerous however as pidgeon mentioned they tend to be prepared so I kinda feel them out. If they go down easy I'll be more than happy to chase them again. If it glows, it goes.

It doesn't take me much convincing to give up on an object user I kinda prefer keeping tabs on them and worry more about the other 3.

if they have a key, 100% never take chase against them under any circumstance

  • never once did OP state that they had purchased said DLC which has a barrier to entry as it requires real life money, whereas talk is cheap.

  • 1st Person Lights Out(no Docs or Legion powers) could go pretty hard

  • Kaneki used to make survivors scream in lockers and that got patched i don't see why Jason will be special in the long run

  • he seems like he'll be a good chess killer

    bring back skull merchant 2

  • got Jason to p3 for the perks, then dumped the rest into Cenobite.

Its actually a nerf lmao because in power you could vault, get blinded, it would instantly end your power and you could down the survivor. Same goes for breaking pallets/generators and whatnot its really good too use if you have good hearing.

I thought i was crazy and this got shadownerfed but nope, just this addon. glad the Forbidden legion tech is still here

Unknown cannot have a terror radius lower than 24-28m as I'm pretty sure if it was any shorter you wouldn't know when you'd get hit by the UVX making his power extremely unfun to play against.

as it is, Unknown is forced to run stealth perks or terror radius reduction because his kit doesn't work with a standard TR because you just pre run him and it makes shots quite difficult. I refuse to play him without his own undetectable perk or monitor. And I don't wanna run monitor they really ruined that perk

  • there's plenty of fun things to dabble in for both sides we got some neat perks and strategies.

for example, Sable is a fun character. I love yoichi for helping my team. playing dog only Dracula is fun. springtrap is fun, vecna is fun, pinhead still fun.

making builds is my favourite part of the game so you have a lot to tinker with :3

  • unknown should have 16m terror radius

I wouldn't mind a slight addon pass for cenobite I'm just kinda bored of what i got i felt let down by getting just another aura addon(not like i used original pain anyway)

Shes a killer i would like to play more, just the fact im horrible at tracking throws me off, can you at least hear noise notifacations?

pretty sure, yeah. I'd still recommend dabbling with her a bit she's a fun change of pace. If you have a bit of "empathy" you can make her work, she's a very mind gamey killer. you can do some neat things like use your husk to block areas

  • gauging distance is pretty important based off the sighs and moans you here it's why Stridor used to be the common "oh hey, this has synergy right?" kinda perk at first glance (stridor at one point overruled Iron Will too) however Spirit mains used to say that perk was a trap specifically because it made survivors sound closer than they really were.

Spirits favourite survivor is definitely Rebecca lol she has like, the longest injury noise in the entire game you can track her with your eyes closed just by whacking her.

im not deaf myself, but Spirit can be tough as it is since survivors will employ prey tactics like retracing footsteps or standing completely still which can throw you off

  • spirits honestly incredibly overrated. her base kit is pretty bad just like Wraith.

she's an accessibility issue for the hearing impaired that's where her issue comes from. before her addon nerfs/reworks she used to be deaf friendly to play as at least thanks to Fathers Glasses (RIP)

Her enjoyment to verse is also kind of map dependent since grass affects her gameplay pretty significantly for both sides

  • can't say i care for the silent shadow changes; was hoping for an ok stealth perk at the start that does NOT cost 2 perk slots and works on slower killers, but looks like we nerfed it because of mobility killers so now the stealth effect is only useful on mobility killers.

reminds me of nerfing thanatophobia so that only legion/plague can use it

  • if it's a problem maybe agitation is the play?

  • @cogsturning said:

Why are we suddenly talking about this old, mid perk like its OP?

hey, take that back mate Nic Cage is the survivor GOAT! people just can't handle his awesomeness
