  • This is absolutely a more healthy way to play the game and typically what I aim for when I play killer.

Using his tombstone makes him strong. Having to ability to instantly kill anyone without having to hook them once.

Or even see them for more than half a second. I've had more than a few occasions where the first time he sees me, he one-taps his stalk to T3 and insta-kills for the first time. It's probably the more frustrating thing in the entire game.

Fact is they are too OP vs a SWF that communicate on the killer's position.

And they are generally too OP when a single SB gives the survivors 20 seconds of free chase in an environment where a gen just needs 90 seconds to be done soloe, 42 seconds with some perks.

20 seconds free chase 3 times (if you tunnel th survivor) + 30 seconds loop 3 times = 2min30 = all gens are done.

In all my games since 6.7 = all gens done in less than 5 minutes, all my games. I do not have time to hit gens, i do not have time to break pallets, i do not have time to break doors... and for each chase, they hold forward to go on the other side of the map to prevent me to defend a 3 gen.

Whatever i cannot even defend a 3 gens cause there is no regression anymore, they do the gen, flee before i'm at the gen and repeat this on all 3 gens.

Only Nurse and Blight can catch up at this point.

God... it's almost like... making it so we can't afford to do anything but gens, because everything else wastes more and more time with every patch, means that if you don't rush the gens asap, it ends with a 4k nearly every game. I also would love to have your survivors in my games. I usually end up having to do 3-4 gens myself minimum because no one else does them.

"Almost always" hardly. And it benefits only IF you can trigger it successfully which is easier said than done. not the guaranteed trigger people keep saying it is. And it isn't like killers can't hard counter DH, legion, deathslinger, trapper. These are just the ones that have hard counters to DH in their basekit.

Any addon/perk that causes exhaustion can nix a potential DH play. The only time you can make it a guaranteed trigger is at a pallet. And even then killer can hold back and all you've done is gained the time you would from a pallet. In any other situation DH is counterable by simply not swing at the first available instant. It's a mind game, just requires skill to counter.

It's punishing if you swing into it for sure. But it's definitely avoidable and counterable whether you use straight up mechanical counters or simply skilled gameplay.

P.s. the perk idea sounds kinda interesting, but constant aura read on an exhausted surv would be absolutely cracked. Perhaps a 5 sec aura read when surv becomes exhausted.

That would still be disgusting if paired with Mindbreaker. Like Surveillance on crack...

To your final point. When would you ever not run an exhaustion perk if your goal was to win? The answer is never, you would always run an exhaustion perk. That in and of itself tells you there’s a problem. There should never be perks that are an automatic auto lock in every single game with zero thought of not running them, that’s inherently a sign of a flaw in design. You should always be considering pros and cons of if anything is worth running. There is literally only up side on exhaustion perks as a category. Exhaustion perks as a category and level of power far, far exceed all other perks in the game they would consider as alternatives, hence why they’d never not be ran. That’s why they’re a problem.

I'm glad you agree that all gen regression perks are a problem... because why wouldn't you run them?

It's not really about it being challenging, it's just that the killer role attracts certain type of people who are desperate to be the power role, they want to be able to kill, ruin the fun, hold hostage, etc. the other side and make sure that group can't fight back. In other games like Call of Duty those kind of people would easily be btfod by the opponent because enemy players can kill you back, but here all survivors can do is throw pieces of wood and run.

It's obvious things like Exhaustion perks are gonna be an issue to those people since they ruin their powerfantasy. You can't pull a "TAKE THAT DAVID! YOU'RE LITERALLY MY SCHOOL BULLY! AND YOU MEG! YOU'RE LITERALLY THAT GIRL THAT REJECTED ME IRL! SO I'M GONNA TUNNEL YOU!" if the survivor they were gonna use to take their anger away can dead hard to safety.

I absolutely love how well that was said. Bravo.

Healing nerfs got turned back only Medkit nerfs.

I dont know how everyon say DH is dead. Its very tiny nerf compair too the Killer Perk changes.

Medkit nerfs where needed for yeard.

CoH got nerfed yes but if you would play it now you would see the nerf wasnt that massively.

Ds dead is true they should do a 4 sec stun

DH rework was needed, but its still the strongest Survivor Perk.

Gen time wasnt that big compair to perks that caim out later (Hyperfocus) Solo gen in 40 sec great gen time increase.

Less Distanz on Hit I agree has an impact on Survivor.

You are ignoring the fact that for Dead Hard to do anything, you need to already not be under an endurance effect/deep wound. If you tunnel the survivor, and hit them before the borrowed time wears off, they cannot dead hard until they mend. It won't do anything. It is entirely within your power to never see a dead hard go off again if it bothers you so much. This is why it's a dead perk.

Because DBD is a game of snowballing. It can go wrong for either side and when it does, it snowballs pretty fast.

even tho, IMO those are outliers. It does not happen frequently that a Killer gets below 3 Hooks and all Gens are done or that no Gen is done and the Killer gets a 4K. (Which still does not mean that both sides come close to winning, but a complete demolition of the other side is not happening often. And I would blame MMR on this over anything else, because sometimes you just get those games where a 3 hour Bill pairs against a 8k hours-Killer or vice-versa...)

Disagree. In my experience games are usually a blowout one way or the other. It's very, very rare for a game to feel like it was a hard fought victory or loss. It's very rare to have a 'good game'. Usually the killer stomps or gets stomped. I almost never see a game where people are just starting to die right before the escapes.

Not really. If you take away hook suiciding and make DC's harsher at least after the first, then all that's really left is trolling. It will reduce the players that act this way, whether some stop trolling or some stop playing. Other games are prime examples of that.

Of course there are. You could just meme the rest of the game. Run laps around the map. You could just sit on a gen and ignore the killer entirely, regardless of their presence. That last one you have no way of dealing with and they were literally more useful still than 90% of solo queue players.

  • @Sava18 said:

Doesn't matter what you do people will always give up regardless of how much the symptoms are treated. People will simply be less likely to stop playing if they actually get punished for it.

Or more likely to just find other ways to not try. You can't force people to try any more than you can force them to have fun.

It's like saying removing camping would invalidate terriotial imperative, except I would argue an early """""KOBE"""" is far worse than a camping killer.

Too many people on these forums try to defend this "mechanic" especially the older players it seems.

I don't want people to leave me in a 3v1 as a survivor and I don't want to be in 3v1 as killer it's just boring/work to me.

You want to leave or have consistent internet problems? Eat the dc or don't play.

A player that's given up has given up regardless of whether you make them waste time in the game. Everyone keeps trying to treat the symptoms and not the problem. Figure out why they aren't trying in the first place.

  • I don't think Dead by Daylight, by its' very nature, is capable of being 'fair'. There are too many variable from items/perks/addons/which killer/which map/which random tile placement you get for there to ever be any level of fairness or competitiveness to it. That's before we get into the challenges that practically make you throw the game in their pursuit. Trying to make things reach some level of balance would require making things far too static. Maps would have to be completely pregenerated, set in stone, with addons, items, and killer powers all made relatively the same. Really, to balance this game, would be to kill it and make it something it was never meant to be from the onset.

Most games are a severe blowout one way or the other. Either the killer crushes, or gets demolished. It's very, very rare to see a game that feels like it was close and both sides fought well. We talk about this game as if it's a 4v1, but it's not really. Unless you're with a full SWF team, you are playing against your own 'team' as much as you are with them. Unhooking, helping, and assisting your team should certainly be incentivized and encouraged... but really, the way the game is designed, it should really lean towards giving every survivor their own goal within the trial in order to escape that's independent of the other three, as teamwork is nonexistent most of the time.

Survivors don't like Killers regressing Gens... and these changes prove that

    It's the same as:

Ruin- changed from .50 charges per second to .25 charges per second (excluding OG Ruin)

Pop- changed from 25% of 90 to 20% of current progress

    Now...

Call Of Brine- changed from .50 charges per second to .3125 charges per second for 60 seconds

Overcharge- changed from .1875 charges per second to .2125 charges per second (at the start) then grows to .50 charges per second to .325 charges per second

SH: Pain Resonance- changed from having all 4 Hooks permanently SH to having tokens and 15% of 90 to having 4 tokens (1 per Hook) and 25% of 90

Also the fact that when the game was released there was no Gen kicking action

BHVR needs to realize why we as Killer players run these perks on another level then "oh they are using X perk more then the others... let's nerf it"

And the fact that they even added 2.5% of current progress to the base kick is annoying to say the least

Oh... I just remembered putting COB and Overcharge together is .6375 charges per second for 30 seconds

BHVR also needs to realize that % of current progress doesn't matter...

    But who am I....

I think BHVR is trying to tell you that you should be generating pressure without making survivors spend the entire game holding M1 on the same gens. Almost as if, after all the myriad nerfs to loops, pallets, and windows, you should be getting people down faster so you can generate this pressure... and if you can't... then you're the one getting outplayed. Weird, it's almost like you're not supposed to stall for 30 minutes until your opponents die of boredom.

I can't for the life of me just have a normal game anymore.

Every single game I have I get paired against the FBI, the US marines, the navy seals, and the British army.

It's literally unbearable. I logged in today to have a quick chill game before doing what I needed to do and again got matched against a super swf.

Needless to say I uninstalled. This game has gone to hell.

Killer is trash. Solo queue is trash.

The only way to enjoy dbd anymore is to play swf.

Well done on killing off the casual players, BHVR

There's this think called MMR. If you play well enough, eventually you get to face people that are supposed to be challenging for you. If you don't want that, then stop sweating so much. Let people escape when they're all on death hook instead of slugging for that 4k after you've tunneled out the first three one by one. If you want to play super sweaty and win a lot, eventually the system will put you against people that can take your crap. If you want chill, play more chill and stop trying to 4k every game.

You are just wrong.Killers are ridden with situation perks that seem better than they actually are.No one is using Iron maiden or remember me in a serious game to win.I would argue after the next patch goes through the META perks(MOST EFFECTIVE TACTICS AVAIABLE),not strong or fun, will be in abundance for survivors compared to killers.

    Killers meta perks are:

Noed,DL,CI,Sloppy,no way out.You could also argue for Pop,Bamb,Lethal,STBFL but they aren't quite as strong as they are fun.And then there are a lot of situation perks that are good on 2 killers,or that seem better than they actually are.

    On the other side however:

OtR,UB,Adren,Deli,Prove, Reassurance,Sprint burst, lithe,Distortion,WoO,For the people,Resilience,Decisie strike as VERY powerfull, top of the notch options. If you play solo queue then Kindread, and bond are amazing.Aditionaly although not the best strong options can be found in BT,Balanced,Overcome,Will make it,We're gonna live forever,Streatwise,Built to last,Shadowstep and CoH,Lucky break.

I also believe Dh will still be used, but it will still be an A tier perk at worst after the changes.

You CANNOT argue that killers have worse perks at the moment compared to survivors.

Huntress and Trickster run Iron Maiden all the time. Not all perks need to be equally good on every killer.

There should never be a bonus for killer. Ever. Needing 4 times the number of survivors should mean that there should always be a higher demand for survivors over killers.

But, funnily, that's not the case. Any time after lunch, but before breakfast is straight 100% killer BP bonus...

    I winder why.

For you. Remember, MMR and region both affect your incentive bonuses. I will have a different bonus than my friend does and that bonus will often change once we party up. It just means in your specific MMR bracket and in the region you play, there are less killers in queue at that moment. Also remember that while the killer has to play the entire match, the survivors don't, so the dead ones are often jumping back into queue while the game is still going. It's not so simple as "there are more than 80% of the people exclusviely playing survivor!"

and here is when you are COMPLETELY wrong... the killers aren't complaining about winning and/or loosing par se, but about the MISERABLE experience of the game: let just say for example that the killer wasn't able to catch someone for the entire match due to various factors (the maps that are too much safe, too many 2nd chances perks, too many broken items, SWF, etc etc) and the killer that won't be a nurse (so all the previous stuff will be impossible to counter even if the killer have godly skill levels), but it ended with a 4k because extremely stupid poor gameplay for the survivors in the end just to save one of them (for example blood warden activated), would you call it balanced? would you call it killer side because the killer did a 4k? STATS mean NOTHING in this game (wanna talk about barbecue and chili/we're gonna live forever? they failed to understand WHY they were so popular, or better, they knew that was for the extra bp reason, but they removed that feature anyway despite it incentivezed a good gameplay instead of the usual tunneling and camping... at least WGLF was buffed by giving 100% of healing speed when you must pick up someone that was downed, but that wasn't the point...), you must see how the games are played in order to balance stuff... remember that with that logic they had the courage to propose a nerf for billy's engravines (and that wasn't the 1st episode of nerfs done by stats: remember the 2 most used addons for the twins, the toy sword and the stale biscuit for example...) that was officially stopped because people complained about it (but i think that they did it on purpose to "justify" the same thing regarding heals, being too much time wasting so they soften up the nerfs done, but this is my personal thought)

regarding the survivors that are weak in the other brackets of the mmr this is partially false (i could agree regarding mindgames and experience at looping but those aren't needed when the game is literally playing aganist you): one of my matches before quitting this mess called game was with AWFULLY bad survivors and guess what? they were winning because they literally pressed w shift and throwed down all the pallets that they could find (i was playing wesker in lery)... with 1 gen remaining and only 2 hooks for that reason i started camping, tunneling and slugging... the match ended with a 4k for me at 1 gen still to do but i wasn't satisfied a bit because i would have probably lost to those survivors if i played "fair"/how the game is supposed to be played (and honestly for how much bad they were they didn't deserve it a bit) and because i was frustrated for how many dumb things they had at their disposal overall speaking, not to mention how much fast gens were and my hooks that were too few in order to get at least the satisfaction of doing a good amount of bp...

If you enjoy a game where in the future we will see only unfun gameplay for both sides that's fine, but i'm not gonna stay

The game has almost always been nothing but unfun gameplay. It's basically an act of masochism to play this game at all. It was one of the "describe this game using only three single words" part of the survey I answered back earlier in the week. "Masochism. Grindy. Toxic." That's all this game has ever been.

I will never cease to find it amusing when someone complains about winning the game because they didn't have an easy time winning. "I had to play a bit harsher to get my 4k." So you have a competitive game. Sorry it wasn't so easy for you to steamroll that one group. If you continue to play the way you want, you won't face that kind of group as much once your MMR goes back down to where you can have more chill games.

The skill floor to killer is much lower than survivor, but the skill ceiling is much higher for survivor than it is for killer. To win most games, you just have to not make a ton of mistakes as a killer. Whereas with survivor... you have to hope the other three people you got randomly matched with are actually doing what they need to do. I can tell you that since the new survivor HUD came out, I get the proof of what I already suspected: No one is ever on a gen. Most games are me doing most of the gens myself and then dying once everyone else has thrown themselves onto the killer's hooks. If I play for 3-4 hours, I am lucky to have one, maybe two games where I get out through the gate. A few more I might find hatch. Mostly, it's just death. It has gotten to the point that I just run Head-On, Quick and Quiet, Flashbang, and Blast mine to try and annoy the killer more before I inevitably die. I don't run items, because they'll just be lost.

I have over 2400 hours in this game, and it doesn't matter because my team will either go down in seconds, or leave me to die after running the killer for 5 gens. I don't have three friends that are all good that I can make a SWF. I'm just a punching bag for the killer. It's gotten significantly worse since 6.1 and I play less and less each patch as a result.

At least fix unfair things like insta heals...voicechat.exe.....swf...genspeed.....hex vs boons....etc

Instant heals were nerfed a long time ago. There used to be two of them and they were LITERALLY instant. Gen speeds have been nerfed multiple times. They upped the time it takes from 80-90 seconds, toolboxes were massively nerfed a ways back, Brand New Parts were nerfed a long time ago. All boons are trash come patch where things like Devour Hope is still incredibly powerful, that's why it's such a risky perk. A good spawn point all but guarantees it wins the game, where a bad one will merely waste a survivor's time to break it.

You should go back and see how the game was several years ago before you talk about this stuff. Back when there were two to three times the number of pallets, literal infinite loops, literally instant heals where a button push healed a health state instantly, Decisive Strike where you'd pick up the survivor and just get stabbed in the neck a couple seconds later, pretty much guaranteeing you need to down them four times... Let's just say you don't seem to understand just how easy killer is now compared to what it was before.

Aside from a handful of ridiculously overpowered things like no-hook mori's and the like, the power balance has drastically skewed towards the killer side of the coin from where it was initially. I don't necessarily think balance is possible (or even desirable) with how wildly varied the builds people use can be. (like no addon M1 killer vs full sweat squad of 16 meta perks, 4 good items with addons, etc) But don't talk like the game isn't the easiest for killer that it's ever been.

BHVR is a business. They exist to make money. Survivors make up at least 80% of the playerbase, and spend the most money.

Who are they really going to cater to?

You do realize that most people do play both sides, right? Just because there are 4 survivors for every killer in a match does not mean that they are a perfect split of 80-20 and never cross sides. Primetime often has incentive bonus for killers, because more people are playing with friends. Off hours often has a survivor bonus in my experience. It's ridiculous to assume that 80% or more of the player base are purely playing survivor exclusively.

Whether you're being sarcastic or not, gen-regress perks are just a necessity at higher-level/against coordinating SWFs

Depends on what killer you're running. Most of the top builds for better killers largely just focus on finding surivors ASAP to keep the pressure rolling. Best builds for killers like nurse and huntress, for example, all just use aura perks for the most part. The better you are, the less gen slowdown you need because you can keep the pressure up.

What? that is totally not true, how can "not wanting 30-40 chasing time being healed up in ######### 8 secs" become wanting survivor doing nothing but die?

7 our of 10 survivors die on average. 70%. That's their own numbers not counting games with DC's. So the actual death rate is higher. Complaining that killers get to win almost every game, but not EVERY game, is essentially demanding the game to be impossible to lose as a killer.

  • @Mystic_Mizu said:

How in the actual world are people saying DH got buffed.... HOW did it get buffed? Please someone explain...

You can literally use it only 2 times and if you miss it, it deactivates until you get hooked again. 🤦

Like I said, killers won't be happy until survivors can use no perks, can't heal, and they can't throw down pallets.

Or do gens. You forgot that we can't do gens either. Just run around like flightless birds in a pen as they run around with shotguns.

  • @Tostapane said:

he's not completely wrong tho: many people already left the game (myself included) due to how much unfun it becomes (at least for me) since in high mmr you are essencially a clown that must entertain survivors (the only exception is the nurse) due to the absurd genspeed, maps that are even safer than before and nerfs to killers/perks that no one asked for. This is a dead game for me, they had their chances during those years to adress properly the issues of the game, but they found the way to make them even worse...

and at every other MMR, you're just ants waiting for the killer's magnifying glass to burn you. The flies waiting to have your wings torn off. Kill rates are at the highest they've ever been, even at top end. The killer playerbase will never be happy until Survivors are literally unable to do anything but die. No gens. No escapes. No hiding. Just death. That's all I ever hear on these forums.

Bad analogy. Seriously. Stop trying to make it sound like killer isn't laughably easy to play 99% of the time now. You can faceroll to 4k most games it's a joke.

  • @Blueberry said:

People are overreacting to the healing nerf without realizing it’s being offset by all the gen regression perks being killed. They’re just shifting the slow down from perks to healing. This is a good change because it makes gen regression perks less required and instead makes the slow down base kit if you’re good at pressuring the survivors and rewards tunneling killers much, much less. So while each change may seem extreme isolated, they will be good together. I am worried good survivors will just ignore healing and go full gen rush though. I feel like there needed to be some small incentive to make the healing more required like a hypothetical “10% slower gens while injured” or something. We’ll test it out though.

One of the best mid chapters we’ve ever had and a step in the right direction. I hope they don’t cave and start backtracking on the changes coming to live.

Good survivors just will not heal. We'll just put on resilience and bang out the gens even faster because you have worse options to slow the game down. If you thought gen rushing was bad before this patch, just wait until most of your games are over in 3-4 minutes.

    Please stop spreading this lie.

"Killer is in its best spot ever!" is untrue, and will always be untrue.

And the reason why is because nothing, no tweak, to any perk or heal speed or any of that will ever compare to the old Ebony Mori. Nothing in the last 2-3 years that has changed is anywhere close to the power of instantly murdering any survivor on the floor.

    Just stop it.

Yes, abusing one broken offering if and when you found one and spent 7k blood points for it is so much stronger than being able to win while half asleep 90% of the time. You can win without add-ons or offerings just fine now and reliably. If you can't and I, who played mostly survivor for the ~2400 hours I have played, can... I'm gonna go with it being a skill issue.

I play mostly survivor these days, but healing was busted af, and has been for years. A fully loaded green/ranger medkit was a devastating weapon. LIke there is/was no real reason to run anything else as a surv. These changes just bring it to where it should have been.

And let's not forget that the most popular gen slowdown perks (Eruption, CoB, Overcharge, SH:PR) have been either crippled or cut in half with these recent updates.

There's a lot of wailing from partisan "mains" going on, but there is actually a lot of balance with these changes.

If you thought genrush was bad before. Just you wait. With healing being a complete waste of time now, I hope you like everyone running repair speed buffs and just genrushing with toolboxes 24/7.

Whenever someone says "killer have been in their best spot ever", I wonder if they remember what the kill rate used to be like before MMR......

I don't care about the cream of the crop ranks where a miniscule amount of players are. Even then, the average kill rate is still pushing SEVENTY PERCENT. That's an overwhelming majority of survivors you encounter, you kill. Excuse me while I play the world's smallest violin for you because it's not 80% or more. Oh.. wait... don't worry, BHVR's here to make it even easier for you.

I play killer too. The games are much easier. Much more fun. And you have to almost try to lose most of them. Or are you one of those players that thinks it's a loss of one person found the hatch?

  • Don't be obtuse. You know I mean BHVR.

  • @Laurie268 said:

They really think people will still play survivor after these changes lmao. Killrate will rise to 80%+ and good killers will reach a killrate of nearly 100%.

There’s nothing fun in this game left for survivors to enjoy and I will be uninstalling when the update hits too. Most people won’t put up with being a punching bag for a killer that finally gets to experience their power trip fantasy

It's pretty close to there already. I've been very much enjoying the free wins and near constant 100% bonus bloodpoints playing killer a lot more these last several months.

    There will be two extremes.

Some players will spend 68.5 seconds using self care in the corner and die every game they don't get hatch.

Others will power through gens injured as fast as humanly possible with resilience, adrenaline, and BNP.

We'll be seeing posts about 'gen rushing' flood the forums cleaning for gen speed nerfs with redoubled effort.

Which of course, BHVR will respond to by nerfing BNP, resilience, and adrenaline, and then give a 1% nerf to NOED's haste buff to make things appear unbiased.

Killers have been crying for the last 4 months. Most of them ended up uninstalling the game. It's okay if survivors cry too.

Killer has been in its' best spot ever. The game is literally handed to them on a silver platter most of the time. I've switched to playing killer outside of challenges or when a friend is around because solo queue is utterly unbearable and keep getting worse with every new patch.

  • @Shroompy said:

Can we all just stop be ######### to each other and just enjoy the damm game???

I can't thought. They've made it nearly impossible to enjoy.

  • I'm happy to see Dead Hard nerfed into the ground. I've never enjoyed the 'exhausted on the ground' gameplay that it almost always resulted in for me, so I didn't use it much, and not at all after the distance part was removed last year. It was frustrating to play against as a killer and I'm happy to see anything that helps push that perk into the trash bin forever.

Pain Resonance, while it can feel bad from time to time, had some easy counterplay most of the time and the nerf feels severely punishing. I never had a problem with PR like I did with Eruption. This feels too much.

Call of Brine and Overcharge... really should just have been made to not stack and they'd have been fine, I feel.

No one's going to use Gearhead still.

Overzealous... might make it into importance if people start running it with Inner Healing. But if everyone starts running them, it'll be a problem as there just aren't enough totems in the map for that. Still, 10-20% repair speed buff could be a meta thing in the future as the next changes I'm going ot mention make gen rushing the only way to survivor.

Healing nerfs. Some nerfs to medkits themselves make sense, as they're so plentiful now there's no reason not to bring one typically, but the way they were nerfed does not. Who brings a medkit to heal others slightly faster? The whole point was to give yourself the ability to heal in less than a week and now they all have the same speed and same number of charges for that. The brown one is no better or worse than the green or purple.

Circle of Healing may have needed some kind of adjustment... like perhaps after a certain number of heal charges, the boon was used up and needed to be recast... but this throws the perk in the garbage with the rest of the boons. No one will use any of them now. It's an entirely dead mechanic. How about a passive heal in the area that takes 30 or so seconds, but you can do other things at the time? Get more creative than a crappy version of botany knowledge. There's no reason to use CoH over BK at all. This perk is going to be as bad as self care. People will cast it, then teabag in the aura begging for someone to come heal them instead of just doing a gen. Minute-long self cares will be better than this crap.

That brings me to the baseline healing change. This was just... beyond poorly thought out. You essentially just don't want people to heal anymore. Why not just give everyone injured the broken status in chase and for like 30 seconds after if they escape if you want to keep people from just healing up right away? All of these healing changes are horrible ideas, but combined, it's just too much. Playing survivor already feels oppressive 90% of the time, where your odds of escaping are entirely dependant on if you have a full SWF that are all good, or if your killer bought the game just before the match.

The Skull Merchant chapter PTB is where I put on the brakes.

Enough is enough. TBH, I've been better at not playing DbD. Never in my 5 years (started June 2018) did I think I could not enjoy this game... but everything since Wesker... oh boy!

I didn't mind her initial design, but I think SM is actually more oppressive after Wednesday's changes than she was before. You still need spot on coordination to break the three gen if she does it from the start, but now she's insanely fast. They gave her too much stuff all at once. Expose effects, speed buffs, undetectable, near-constant knowledge of where every survivor is. Pretty much once you know how to play her... you win unless you've got a 4 man that coordinated and communicates well to keep track of her at all times and pressure multiple gens in the three gen from the onset... she feels awful to go against.

I thought Wesker was fun to go against on the PtB, but the amount of times I've been vaccumed back to the other side of a window after I've vaulted it... Even on a lateral dash... (ie along the wall I'm not near anymore)... he's just awful. Knight might be the worst offender though. Gets one down and just... camps. Never met a knight that didn't play like a tool.

  • @Xendritch said:

It's very clear from the changes BHVR intends for players to play at least half the match injured so I doubt they'll buff self-care.

Better off just running adrenaline and resilience and just never leave gens.

  • @Firellius said:

Yeah, the medkit nerfs made sense, and they could've taken a different route with CoH...

But CoH now legitimately no longer has a reason to exist, and ALL healing got sledgehammered with a 50% nerf. This is going to have a knock-on effect on perks, too, as I can't imagine things like BK, DM, EC and the like to feel satisfying to use going forward.

More toolboxes and BNPs I guess.

I don't think the medkit nerfs make any sense. How often do you bring a medkit to heal other people? Now every single medkit has the same speed healing yourself and the same number of charges. The brown one is just as useful, and cheaper, than the purple or green. They might as well just remove the ability to heal from the game entirely if they want to make the state of the game better. All this is going to do is make people selfcare in the corner now for 48 seconds... assuming you aren't also running sloppy, which is just overkill.

At least if they aren't able to waste that time there's a small chance they might get on a gen again.

  • @Beatricks said:

My prediction is that boons are dead in the water until they introduce a boon totem that gives 5% gen repair speed to generators in their range.

Only to be nerfed shortly afterward to make it only bonus repair speed if the killer is in chase with you.

  • @Caiman said:

I can take all the other changes in the game, but nerfing med kits and COH at the same time is really overkill. It should have been only one of them.

Nah, they both deserved it, and good riddance.

And again, camping, tunneling, and 3-gen holders are not even been addressed.

Yeah, it's not like they nerfed the two perks that made 3-gens very easy to hold. That totally didn't happen at all.

All this does is make the meta back to 'run adrenaline, genrush like mad'. I, for one, will just stop playing. I've given this company hundreds of dollars over the last four years or so, hell I just spent like $35 to get 3 of the new skins from Wednesday. This goes live? I'll immediately uninstall and not look back.

Was.* Apparently reading the entire post instead of the first few words is too difficult for some.

This might be a bit random to the topic, but can you share with me what build you use? I am maining her too and want to see what another Skull Marchant main uses. Thanks :)

Certainly. Lightborn, Corrupt Intervention, Jolt, Deadlock. For add-ons, I just use a pair of browns. The one for shorter activation cooldown and the one that makes trapped survivors break pallets when vaulting. Not at the computer, so don't have the names handy.

I pick a 3-gen and set drones, but I don't camp them. Just keep the drones active as I chase, using the last drone to force survivors to leave a loop or risk getting beaten by expose or the undetectable status. This far, it's been very effective. Only had two games now where I haven't had at least three kills.

I haven't been playing since December because of personal PC Issues that caused DbD to run at an inconsistently fluctuating 10-30fps when before it ran at a solid 80-100 FPS, which I just fixed at 11 pm yesterday (turns out it was a bad Ram Dimm/stick/whatever you call it), so I was REALLY looking forward to getting in and playing the new killer, and enjoying the ones I loved playing such as Doc, Plague, and... Dredge...

WTAF? Why is Dredge of all killers Kill switched? "You shouldn't a done that, he's just a boy, poor little feller"

I can tell you what I believe it is. I ran into a bug with him on patch day. First nightfall he became completely invisible after teleporting to a locker. Was looking right in the direction of the sound, it got so loud he had to be standing on me. I let go of the totem I was booning and whap, hit by a killer I still could not see. I couldn't see him again until he teleported to a new locker. Pretty sure invisible Dredge was not in the character's design intentions.

And Dead Hard quickly reasserted itself into the meta despite being 'nerfed'.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LGHXT6CJQBMY/dead-hard-is-overpowered.jpg

A match where literally every survivor had Dead Hard just tonight.

Dead Hard got nerfed with a scalpel. Eruption meanwhile no longer has any real use since the main reason to use it was not the regression, it was the Incapacitation. The aura reading it has now is an utter joke and useless for most Killers.

I'm all for just deleting Dead Hard from the game entirely, really.

Let me know how you feel when the joke that is Skill Based Match Making pits you up against Seal Team 6 five games in a row.

Those games are so incredibly rare that it's laughable. If they're that coordinated, then so be it. Guess what? You aren't supposed to win every game. If you have had a string of luck where your MMR goes to a point where you aren't skilled enough to handle these teams... well that's what being boosted means. Even with their new desired kill rate, you shouldn't be winning more than maybe two out of every 3 games you play, if you're facing balanced teams.

Edit: You must also be fairly new, because the game has nerfed survivors an absolute ton. You should go see some content from 5-6 years ago when there were genuine infinite loops, self care had no penalty, sprint burst could be used every 40 seconds even in chase, Decisive Strike pretty much meant the first time you tried to hook someone, you were going to get stunned unless you were very careful and they went down right by a hook.... Killer is easier than ever.

  • I have played survivor almost exclusively for years. Killer is significantly more fun and easier than ever. I'm maining Skull Merchant now and am having a blast. But hey, you feel better after getting that rant out?

I think you're referring to the Legion.

The difference is that the sexualization of those characters came up from the community organically and was then requested. This is just... "Hi, nice to meet you! Would you like to treat me as a sex object despite having no idea who I am?" kind of vibe. If people in the community started sexualizing Dull Merchant and requesting sexy skins, that's when you make the sexy skins... not before they even know who she is.

And before anybody asks: yes, it felt kind of the same way with Vittorio but not quite as insidious because the first time they did it with a new character it was an anomaly. But now they've done it with 4 new characters in a row (Vittorio, Skull, Renato, Thalita) implying a pattern of just creating conventionally attractive characters with revealing outfits purely for profit, which is pretty scummy.

Or, you know, because most people prefer to look at attractive people and not hideous ones?

Really? I'm positive I've never climbed out of low MMR and the HUD has shown me that my teammates aren't useless.

I end up playing gen jockey most of the time when I queue survivor. Typically with 3+ gens done myself if I don't spend all game being chased. It feels painfully rare to see others on gens. -.-

  • @calem said:

Honestly ######### is her skin. I already had my doubts with her base design that this chapter is gonna be a "sex sells" chapter, and then I open the game and see her first rare skin....

Surely I cannot be the only one so abysmally disappointed with how this game is turning out? There's so little horror anymore.

And how many skins do we have now with topless guys and ripped muscles? I think you can handle one scantily clad female in the see of GD beefcakes.

with the new hud helping out solo survivors not become potatoes (at lower mmr) and be more efficient in the trials will the data show that survivors still need to be buffed? on the survivor side i can still see a basekit ds/kindred still being added

or will the data show how lower tier killers need some changes? i want to know your opinions on which low tier killers are going to be buffed and why?I am at least holding out that trapper and pig get more traps to start the match with if nothing else...i know pig can never receive a buff its the meme

All the HUD does at lower MMR is remind you that your teammates aren't doing anything 80% of the time.
