  • Wth. Theres never a good time as a solo player. I am choosing hellfire the moment I chose survivor.

  • I have none. This discussion is a joke.

  • @HectorBrando said:

I went from rank1 to rank9 this reset, sometimes it happens, its a common bug.

No it's not a common bug it's literally nothing common bout it. Been playing since 2019 and the only time this happened was once back in the beginning of 2020. Some people have lives and dont want to be grinding on a videogame all day just to get back to where they were especially being solo. This isnt some light problem and those "its okay" and "it happens" is not gonna make everything better. This is bullcrap. I ain't got time for this they need to get their ######### together over there.

  • @Clevite said:

    Its just not a challenge.

I enjoy playing at red ranks, some games you win, some you lose.

    But it keeps you sharp.

Playing at lower ranks is detrimental to your improvement. And will condition you to a playstyle you won't have time for at high ranks.

Yeah I agree. The challenge is needed at all times to get better.

  • I dont understand how unhooking oneself is a meme. It's not toxic either. It's just fun being able to unhook yourself without help.

  • 80% for both sides. I'm so hardcore as killer that I surprise myself. Wow, now I feel vain lol. Survivor is just easygoing and my perk build really helps as a solo que. Overall, I'm just happy I'm growing in skill since I first played which is always a nice feeling. Man, I love this game.

  • Even if you get stunned with ds you can just turn around and down them again. I mean what's the big deal about ds anyways. I do it all the time. With pgtw survivors now have to redo their work and it becomes a tedious task to do generators after the 25% regression. In a way pgtw is more impactful than ds because of this reasoning. And also in my opinion the 45 seconds on pgtw didnt make a difference. I can go across an entire big map like crotus penn asylum and still have time to do a quick hit on someone and pop a generator.

bruh you can't say its just console players

being on pc doesn't magically increase your IQ

Really though. I thought playing on crossplay with pc teammates would be a blast until reality hit and they were just as cliche as any other skilled survivor I've teamed with while on xbox. Nothing special is what I'm trying to say. I can say something about pc players too: Hey! Pc players out there on dbd. Get a grip or get out of the red ranks crouching, hiding, and being individualistic when your teammates need you. Good grief. This is my experience half of the time playing on crossplay. Not saying every pc player play like this just the ones who do this know who they are and it needs to stop, like now. Please.

It's not tunneling lmao. You guys don't know what that word actually means. Also I don't run BBQ because Whispers is better so

Tunneling is overly focusing on one survivor to hurry and get them out of the game. So you dont think when you focus on the recently unhooked survivor, down them and "picking them up" and hooking them isnt tunneling? I disagree with you if you think so. Because its tunneling. You may not be only putting all your focus in the match on that one survivor the entire match but the fact that your chasing them down and hitting them down to go on the hook literally after they just got unhooked just to hurry and get that secure 1k so far is nonetheless tunneling.

  • @Xbob42 said:

There's a lot of good advice here, but I bet we could help you much, much better with advice more tailored to your playstyle if you wouldn't mind using something like Shadowplay (if you're on PC) to upload a match or two where you feel things went poorly, and one where you feel like you did well.

Even you just rewatching the match on your own with the ability to pause and assess what might have happened can offer a ton of insight into how you might have played something wrong, or how a survivor tricked you/snuck out of view. The game desperately needs a proper replay system where you can swap between all 5 viewpoints and even have a freecam/overhead map. People would get SO much better at the game with that kind of ability to assess games. It should be one of their top priorities, behind making sure the game functions, of course. I think it's that important.

I agree with this. Taking clips of a finished match can really help to see what you did good or wrong and how you can do better in future matches. It helps me all the time.

Tips from a fairly new player that struggled their way to the red ranks:

    • Analyze the map and take note of the generator positions. If you are able to lock down a 3 gen (near each other) that can help a lot in the late game - decide which gens are worth defending and which ones are less important.
    • Analyze the opponent you are chasing, if it is taking to long and they can play with you it just sometimes is better to break off and find someone else. Also sometimes just the smart thing to do if you are passing by someone on a gen. Try to find the weaker links in terms of loopers on the survivors end, they all M1 hold at the same speed... but they don't all loop you for the same amount of time. Once they are down the better survivors will need to help and maybe you can find them out of position etc.
    • Try to keep busy and effective with you time. If you hook someone smash the pallet, move to the gen... if they unhook before you found someone double back and hunt them down.
    • Learn when to slug (putting a survivor in a dying state on the floor and not picking them up), it isn't always in your best interest to pick them up directly and if you can have them on the floor while you chase the other a third needs to show up. You can also slug to avoid DS if you happen to down the survivor that was on hook (based on the situation it might be better to risk it etc.)
    • When being piled on with body-blockers just drop the survivor from your shoulder and slug them instead - keep in mind their wiggle state increases when you pick them back up and it isn't lost (so based on how long they wiggled and how far the hook is you might just want to leave them there), if at the hook you can also look downwards and wack them to be able to step into them and still get the hook off.
    • Watch some videos about looping and tiles, it helped me a lot to know the generics.
    • Learn to use your killers powers, when I swap killers I always struggle a little bit more each killer has its own uniqueness to them and the better you learn to use them the better you will be.
    • Don't respect pallets to often (stopping to avoid the stun) unless you notice they are a notorious instant drop pallets, but many try to be greedy and just acting like the pallet isn't there is better. Also the less pallets are up the easier your time in chases will be.
    • Don't be to bothered about the teabagging at the end, just push them out and get a hit or 2 in.. extra blood points are awarded and it ends the game quicker. Also the most satisfying thing is when they mess up and you can pick them up... it is pretty rare, but so funny.
    • If they have a key and go for the hatch, just stand there and bash the button to close it. The one with the key you cannot stop really, but you can avoid others following them. If you swing they just jump in... keys are just 'shrug' just like Mori's it alters the games win conditions and you shouldn't take these escapes to seriously. You can always put on Franklin's if you see it in the lobby and knock that key out of their hands.

Btw. if you finish your chase and get a first hook by the time the first gen pops you are doing alright and are on track still. Remember at the start of the game you have 0 pressure and the survivors have very little to fear, the longer the game goes and the more progress you made the more difficult the game becomes for them.

I especially liked how you explained the importance of eliminating pallets in a match because itll make loops weaker which makes it a breeze when going into chases. Very important information. Dont be wary of pallets the lesser the better. Overall, excellent advice!

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Hi, am at rank 3-1, depending, and honestly recently it has been every single game, at least recently. By that I mean, hardcore, will ignore everyone except the victim (usually the first person to be hooked), will eat DS stuns early and then continue the tunnel, will chase someone for 4 gens then stand hitting them on hook instead of just chasing a different person and will tunnel through BT. It's been insane and is just making me play killer more and more.

Yes, this is more prevalent in the red ranks for sure. It's a good thing I play both sides cause that ticks me off when it happens. I mean I got to r3 as killer and the whole way through never resorted to camping and/or tunneling, so that whole mentality of how a killer HAS to camp or tunnel to win especially as a red rank killer is a myth. It's just the way killer players who cant hold their own in a match play like and its pathetic.

  • Cause you cant. There special hooks.

  • Dwight. His entire perk assemble is just excellent in every scenerio.

To be fair... I think I discovered a lot of Mori/camping/tunneling killers are survivors and killer mains doing challenges.

This is true. I dont like to bring moris at all when playing killer. It's fun to see the cinematic view on both sides but I know it's annoying to be morid just in general for various reasons. I most likely would bring one if I were to be doing a challenge definitely so your right on that one. However, I rarely bring it for the heck of it cause I just want to and not for reasons as to be toxic or mad from a previous game or something like that. Moris are just irritating so I understand not to be hasty about them when playing killer.

The amount of survivors around red rank who do absolutely nothing is absolutely astounding. Like why do i have to do 4 of the 5 gens? Also another thing i got chewed out by a killer last night for escaping with a key after doing 3 out of 5 generators by myself while my team just altruism piled. I also found this key in a chest but i am in the wrong for escaping with it.

Oh my God this is so true. I never since crossplay experienced no skill red ranks for both sides in all my days on this game. It is astounding and just furthers why rank doesnt matter.

I'm just gonna be happy with the 1st 2 charms cause I dont even know any of they're schedules and wont be available tomorrow anyways cause I'm gonna be busy. Disappointed but its okay.

Survivors have an addon for medkits that when used, the survivor being healed gets a 20 second speed boost. Killer gets an addon that gives them a blight rush, which they cannot attack during. Both addons give a spead boost. The problem is that the survivors can use theirs as long as they have the addon, where as the killer can ONLY use theirs DURING the event. These are both event addons so why is it that the survivors can use theirs months after the event is finished, where as the killer gets a greyed out unusable addon?

20 sec speed boost? That's gonna be something. I'm not looking forward to it if it happens.

Once you play at rank 1 long enough you realize thay this game isnt about escaping. Its about making sure everybody survives.

Dbd is boring af if all you do is hide do gens then just do the door and leave.

Thats no skill, real skill comes from looping, using your perks to make experienced plays, and saving your team mates.

Probably why swf is fun af because your team mates actually save you and work as a team to try and get everybody out. Where solo queue is potatoes just doing everything solo and only worrying about getting themselves out.

I agree with you. Just not on the swf is fun and solo que is potatoes because that's not true for all solo que players.

As said I dont WASTE time. If there is the safe option to go for a save off hook. I will. But I dont repeat the same mistake when THEY get themselves caught again no sooner than I helped out.

It's best to assess the situation so all outcome is in your favor.

Well at least you clarified yourself from what you said previously. But either way you sound individualistic. However so, I do agree there are times when you know for a fact your team is not making it because of no competence being shown so I would just do generators while sparingly helping them out by unhooking if able. I just think having a team mentality is always key in this game because it's what guarantees a 4 escape and an overall fun time. I dont know what it is but.. when it was just xbox players only (xbox player) that I played with I always had skilled teammates but now with crossplay it's like I'm lucky to even get into a lobby with like-minded survivors who actually know what they're doing. Its becoming a nuisance to even click on the survivor role because of the bad teammates. I can rant about this crap but dont want to.

  • That's so true. I get more scared when playing killer cause a survivor comes outa nowhere then as a survivor. Funny to say but true!

  • Heck no! I like looking at the survivor I play as ingame, haha. Wish the same for when playing killer but it's not possible, sadly.

In fairness, I do NOT run those Killers nor those Perk combinations and my answer to you (had it been directed to me) would also have been, "What bearing does that have?" I think you are missing the entire point of the OP (or I am). You are looking for bias when bias, in this case is TRULY irrelevant. The only relevant thing is what is legal and what is not. Nobody has to explain or justify themselves for making choices which the game provides as options. Players answer to one person, fiat (themselves). Your question to the OP and well as your response seem to infer that you think your judgement matters; it doesn't. You are insignificant in so far as my choices or those of anyone else. Do you follow? I'm not saying this to be mean. I'm saying because it is a fact. Here is something I watch to get perspective from time to time:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tm6Z1y3h94

Unlike the infinite universe, our game is finite with clear options and legal choices which are to be made by the Player and the player alone. What is off the table, is not there. We don't have to justify or defend ourselves because the reason we do anything is because we chose to do it and it is our valid right to do so. I don't take an oppressive, game-slowing Perk (as a Killer) because Survivors are running this or that combination. I'm not doing it because I think they are jerks, so I will be one in turn. I take an oppressive, game-slowing Perk because I WANT to take it. It is my RIGHT to take it, and because I believe it will help me get my job done.

So, I won't justify myself to anyone for making a legal choice. I won't apologize to anyone for using it, nor will I apologize for it if/when I curb-stomp you in the process. What I will do is say is "good game" whether I won or lost, and wish you luck in your next match. I didn't like the question you asked of the OP, and I liked your response to the answer you got even less. They were passive aggressive, and snotty.

Okay. I was aiming for passive aggression but dont ever call me snotty again. This wont be a name calling session so dont make it one.

  • (Chains of Hate) Least hyped: Zarina: I say this because nothings special about her like her perks especially. Shes just boring. Though The Deathslinger is a fun killer to go against his perks are nothing special. Nice saloon map though.

(Descend Beyond) Most hyped: Felix: the best biography out of all the survivors, one really good perk that's good with the regeneration of items, and hes good looking and German too. The Blight is a really cool killer and hes unique because hes "blighted" naturally which is a profound concept in dbd so that's what's good about him and his perks are all really good especially undying with ruin. No map which is a bummer though.

  • @FireHazard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1677827#Comment_1677827

Yes, but in some cases it's better to leave them there than to sit around a rock watching the Killer go back and forth from the hook. Usually when this happens it can result in a even bigger loss of the team if they slug the freshly downed Survivor but keep the other one on the hook.

But that's if we're saying the Killer is camping, which is kinda why the question was brought up in the first place. Sometimes though the Killer isn't camping and the team just isn't immediately running there because nobody is hit to indicate the Killer is somewhere else. So by that logic, they have no idea if they're camping or if the Killer is somewhere else. That usually results in a scenario where the Killer was camping and the rescuer gets hit, or he wasn't and a lot of time was wasted being cautious.

Your 2nd paragraph is why I bring Kindred. I know and my teammates know what's going on with the killer and the other survivors. It's even good when I want to know where the killer is going or possibly going after they hook someone. It gives a lot if vital information. It's just an excellent perk.

  • What exactly is this MMR? Like how is it gonna work or is that unknown at the moment. I've always been confused on the works of an MMR system. Honestly since ranks doesnt mean skill whatsoever how will people be match up? It sounds like a difficult process considering its dbd.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Yeah. I know. Look at me, I'm an idiot. That's crazy talk. Stop having reasons to play Spirit, to play Nurse, to run DS/UB or OoO with my friends? What's this guy on about.

But please: It's okay to run strong things.

That's it. There doesn't need to be a reason, an excuse. You might well have one, but you don't need to. At all. In any way. Your reason is totally fine being "I want to win." There's nothing wrong with that in the slightest. All the rest, all the victimisation and the blaming of the other side, it's just causing this community to divide and rot. It's not the survivors fault you're playing Pyramid Head. It's not the killers fault you're running DS/UB. It's yours. You wanted to. You wanted to be powerful, to bring in the good stuff, and that's okay.

But this insane, constant need to justify ourselves, it's just alienating everyone. Not every killer tunnels. Not every survivor runs UB with their DS. And trying to claim that they do? Trying to tell them that it's their fault? That they are the ones ruining your day, despite you having never played them in your lives? That's hurting everyone.

It's okay to run strong stuff. You don't need any other reason than that. You don't need to justify yourself. Just do it because you want to.

And side note, please stop making me constantly remember to mention a problem from each side of equal magnitude. I'm very tired and it hurts my brain. Sometimes I talk about survivor, sometimes I talk about killer, and not remembering to do both all the time every day doesn't mean I've completely forgotten the other.

Let me guess, you run said perks (ub,ds) and play said killers? And now you want to explain how you use these perks and killers cause you just want to and for no other reason whatsoever.

  • @Khar said:

Weaker perks are more fun these days, because a lot of killers expect the strong stuff. Lightweight + corn + pebble = lul

It seems like most Killers don’t like good old fashioned looping anymore. They’ll leave you at the drop of a hat if you’re playing good and camp you like crazy if they can tell you’re playing bad.

Killers with anti-loop spam that stuff so hard it’s like they’re allergic to looping normally. Huntress, Doctor, Pyramid, Freddy and Billy players will go around and around for ages trying to use their power, when they could’ve just looped the standard way, ate the pallet and moved on. It’s actually crazy.

Are most Killers unconfident and rusty with their traditional looping now or what?

Okay. A killer who's wise wouldnt stay in a chase that's taking them 5 minutes to just hit let alone down the survivor. A killer's objective is to prevent generators and exit gates from opening and sacrificing. However, if a survivor is just too good at evading then a killer should end chase and go patrol generators to find another person to hook. It's not a matter of being rusty or smth it's "what is the right play here". And endless loops with a survivor isnt the right playstyle.

  • @FireHazard said:

But what if your teammates couldn't do anything about it?

Theres always something to do about a situation like this. It's risky but it gives the teammate a chance.

  • It should be able ingame. Why would someone heal when the killer is coming towards you? And even if it's an undetectable killer grabbing a survivor, they should always be looking around anyways.

  • Haunted ground is still a legit good perk combo with hex ruin. Have undying, ruin, haunted ground together and itll be an even better time. Never tried the three together but played against a killer with these three and I know they had a blast and got a 4k too.

I only wish survivors didnt rely on 2nd chance style. I will save. But if I see risky plays after. They're on their own 🤷‍♂️
