The only thing Boons and Hexes have in common is the fact they use Totems. Hexes are map wide. Boons are short range. Hexes are active from the start of the match. Boons are placed after the match begins and have a long set up time. Hexes are tied to a specific totem that must be standing. Boons are meant to be flexible and moved around as the match progresses. Hexes are all associated wi0 comments 31 views last activity

The Entity exclusively uses dark magic and no Survivor in the game has been shown to have any supernatural powers while in the Entity's realm (except Cheryl, but she's just channeling the Entity). My theory is that the Entity is well aware of light magic and has intentionally kept any source of it out of its realm. Part of the reason the Entity is so powerful is because it cuts off everyone fro35 comments 881 views last activity

The bloodpoint rewards are a literal joke. And MMR makes climbing harder than ever because you never really get "easy" games to blast through its just the same difficulty the entire time. Seems like there's literally no point to playing a lot of games11 comments 131 views last activity

The maximum healing bonus should be capped at 100%. Prevents healing perk combos from getting out of control.3 comments 91 views last activity

The first Survivor I mained was Nancy back in 2019, so pretty much from day 1 I've been slowly memorizing totem spawns for Inner Strength value. Best decision I made in dbd. I have bailed my team out by cleansing Ruin/Devour/Undying thousands of times at this point and I've never had to use a perk slot for totem locating. It takes a long time, but learn the totem spawns. It will reward you ov3 comments 41 views last activity

https://youtu.be/GJw0yrqukdk "high skill" survivors basically just waste every resource on the map because they know the gens are gonna fly so it doesn't matter anyway. the worst part is that it works.4 comments 141 views last activity

Boon totems would simply be too strong if they weren’t revealed to the Killer, so my hunch is that they will be revealed to the Killer after a certain amount of seconds possibly based on their perceived power level. Ex. A boon totem that mitigates generator regression might be revealed after 90 seconds. But a boon totem that deactivates a random hex without having to cleanse the specific totem46 comments 771 views last activity

A perk that blocks all generators while carrying a Survivor. The amount of times I've been forced to give up generators and watch the Survivors finish in my face just to actually hook someone is absurd14 comments 181 views last activity

Pinhead specializes in game delay, with some anti-loop potential. He is probably more similar to Pig than any other Killer (an upgraded Pig mind you). He forces Survivors off generators with his box and chain hunts. Finding the box yourself or downing someone with the box is even stronger and gives some tracking too. Pair him with at least one Hex and the Survivors aren't gonna be gen rushing a28 comments 412 views last activity

I think MMR is balancing for 2 escapes, which means if you’re getting 4ks as Killer the game will throw the kitchen sink at you to try to stop it. Overall, I think the amount of Survivors that can play well enough in a team to escape is significantly higher than the amount of Killers that are capable of getting 4ks against even the sweatiest teams.22 comments 321 views last activity

The amount of chains that spawn during a chain hunt stays the same regardless of how many Survivors are in the trial. The game tends to crash during chain hunts with two or less Survivors. So what's happening is too many chains spawning in the same area at once. So the game crashes because it runs out of spawn points and/or it can't render them that quickly in such a small area.9 comments 431 views last activity

Once you're Rank 1 now, you can't de-rank visually. So it doesn't feel like you're losing anything when you get stomped by a SWF or just really good Survivors. You're merely gaining points and moving on with no downside. Your MMR might go down but that will just be a positive actually for less sweaty games7 comments 201 views last activity

The entire point of using a Scourge Hook perk is to use the same hooks repeatedly. They have different properties than normal hooks so I don't understand why they break.4 comments 272 views last activity

I hate to say it, but Huntress's hitboxes aren't consistent with other projectile Killers so she will eventually get a nerf. With Deathslinger, Nemesis, Victor and Trickster, Survivors can crouch under pallets and vaults to either avoid hits entirely or force the Killer to change their aim. Huntress is the only one that doesn't need to make any adjustment for pallet/window hits and has a hitbox20 comments 291 views last activity

When there’s a strong pallet that I know I’ll have to break regardless, I usually just mindlessly loop and don’t respect at all to get it down ASAP. The side effect is that the Survivor thinks I’m rank 20 when it was all part of the plan 😤2 comments 51 views last activity

Perfect spins are possible. But most of the spins that happen are usually just exploiting broken game mechanics like auto-aim to trick the game into swinging in the wrong direction. Also, PC players bullying consoles because a mouse is more responsive than joysticks. Not sure why its seen as such a skillful thing to pull off. It's basically just a last ditch effort to save a misplay sort of lik13 comments 281 views last activity

No matter how well you play, there are points where game mechanics take over and decide outcomes for you. DBD isn’t a competitive game and sometimes expression of skill just isn’t possible. That doesn’t make you bad its just the game design. When game changing plays happen due to a perk, I don’t get mad. I just think to myself “ok then” and just move on.64 comments 851 views last activity

Is there a perk, playstyle or character you absolutely loathe? It’s probably pretty strong. That simple. People can say they hate things because of the principle, but 90% of the time its simply the balance state. People want easier games so they “like” weaker things and despise strong things when they’re playing against them.46 comments 561 views last activity

Over the past few patches, updates and leaks have been happening that show Legendary skins are becoming more distinct and on-par with normal characters. Because of the end of the Stranger Things license in November, I would assume Legendary cosmetics will reach their final upgraded form before then so Jonathan is included.11 comments 301 views last activity

Every console player I have talked to has said Trickster is super bad on console, so I have to ask. What is he like? Specifically, why is he so much worse than Huntress and Deathslinger?8 comments 221 views last activity

I think there should be a new speed tier to help the M1 Killers with limited anti-loop potential. Killers like Legion, Trapper, Myers, Ghost Face and Pig would be the most likely candidates for this speed tier. Being 120 might actually make them viable options.24 comments 301 views last activity

With the recent Stranger Things announcement, I am seriously scared for the Halloween Chapter. Stranger Things was a massive license for Dead by Daylight and they were forced to drop it before Season 4, which would have inevitably brought more attention to the game and been an amazing opportunity to sell more DLCs and cosmetics. It's been almost five years since the Halloween Chapter initially re38 comments 981 views last activity

The only two licensed Killers that did not come with a map are Leatherface and Ghost Face. One of them was in a paragraph, while the other was technically an original character that wears a licensed outfit. I have never seen Hellraiser. Would that movie have a good location for a map? And how likely do people think a Hellraiser map would be if there is a suitable location?27 comments 493 views last activity

At least for Survivors, I believe MMR measures the percentage of active time in the game (i.e. time in chase, healing and doing objectives). I’ve noticed that high MMR Survivors aren’t necessarily better. They just have better time optimization. So that’s my theory.2 comments 41 views last activity

Trickster feels so much better because, in most cases, the knives are finally MORE useful than his M1, which is what I've wanted all along. The evolution from M1 Killer with a useless power to strong anti-loop Killer with lots of power opportunities is complete. Trickster still has counter play and weaknesses (mainly high wall loops and lack of map pressure). But his strengths are finally prono21 comments 252 views last activity

I managed to get a game with a super clear example of pallet validation and got a clip from both perspectives. Just thought I'd share it so players on both sides can see what it looks like. https://youtu.be/WGgCoIYj7fA Looks totally legit from both perspectives. On the Deathslinger side, it looks like it hit, while on my side it doesn't look like it hit at all. Very hard14 comments 161 views last activity

Right now Blood Pact haste only activates after finishing a heal between the Pact and the Obsession. It's good, but its niche and it doesn't always get tons of use. So what if the haste was also activated upon an unhook between the Pact and the Obsession? Has some serious clutch potential for anti-camping. Thoughts on the current viability of Blood Pact and other ideas?1 comments 41 views last activity

When people say second chance perks, they usually mean Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Soul Guard, Deliverance or Unbreakable. But do Spine Chill/Resilience count as second chance perks too? Vault speed can cause Survivors to avoid hits and that probably happens at the frequency of some of the second chance perks just from the sheer number of vaults a Survivor makes in a game compare7 comments 111 views last activity

Open Handed is a weak perk simply because it needs to be run in a combo with other perks. No other perk has that hard of a requirement (does literally nothing by itself). And its benefit would have to be extremely strong to justify. Right now the +16m just don’t have the omph it needs. My idea for really cranking this perk up a notch is that Open Handed SHARES all your Aura reading with the res6 comments 321 views last activity

I would really like to see some small tweaks to Trickster in an upcoming hotfix. This would help reduce the drawbacks of Trickster. Knife Ammo increased from 44 to 50. Laceration Decay Delay increased from 10 to 15 seconds.1 comments 11 views last activity

There are a lot of pallets in this game where a Survivor could pre-drop and the Killer wouldn't be able to mindgame it at Tier 3 bloodlust. They have to be broken and there's no real counterplay around them on most Killers. These pallets are so strong that it usually takes 2-3 loops to even force a good Survivor to drop them in the first place. If you're looping a Killer for long time on a stro8 comments 131 views last activity

Pretty much any Killer on the roster without mobility to get around the map quickly has to proxy camp for pressure. It’s not bad or cheap or low skill. It’s just how those Killers are designed. Examples are Trickster, Hag, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Pig, Ghost Face, Trapper, Bubba and Plague. No map mobility simply means they can’t afford to patrol large areas if they want to play optimally.38 comments 701 views last activity

I play at 30-40 ping and I have had exactly one hit rejected. The only really noticeable thing about the pallet change is that they brought back vacuum pallets a little bit, so Survivors can now stun you at farther ranges. It’s like the Survivor version of a dedicated hit where you get pallet stunned from Narnia. The funniest thing that’s happened was when I got vacuumed as Trickster with my kn4 comments 151 views last activity

In general (with a few exceptions), the more fun a Killer is to play against, the less fun they are to play. Having chase interaction and a lot of counterplay options feels horrible for Killers. The closer a Killer is to a standard M1 Killer, the easier it is to do the classic pre-drop pallets, hold W and dead hard to safety looping that Survivors love and Killers loathe. It's painful for me13 comments 211 views last activity

Some PC Survivors are SWEATY. Whenever they’re about to go down they always spin. And I’m not talking a standard 360 but like 1000 sensitivity spins, cracked spins. It’s one thing to need to 180 flick to counter a spin. It’s another to need to practically throw your mouse off your desk or simply not swing and wait for the Survivor’s seizure spin to end. Do these guys have macros or something?3 comments 91 views last activity

Trickster is nothing like Huntress or Deathslinger when it comes to accuracy. His spread and left/right throwing pattern do not allow him to be precise with his knives. People on these forums that are comparing his ammo capacity to Huntress do not know what high level games are like with him. 44 Knives forces Trickster to reload after every single down. Stridor was the only reason Spirit had an average play rate. It made her accessible to people that didn't main her. Now she's probably going to have similar stats to Nurse. No one plays her but mains do very well.56 comments 971 views last activity

The last minute 26% nerf to Trickster's Ammo is just what he needed to counteract the attempt to buff him. It removes any chances to snowball with knives and pretty much forces him to reload after every down. Trickster's issue has always been time efficiency and with significantly less ammo and 50% faster laceration decay. I foresee a lot of Survivors getting away mid-chase because he runs out25 comments 691 views last activity

Playing only Survivor or only Killer will severely limit your potential on both roles. To play optimally against a Killer, you have to fully understand their mechanics and playstyle. You will not get enough from experience playing against them if you never play as them and vice versa with Survivors. Counterplay options are different on both sides as well as the experiences.
