I wouldnt care, and of course the devs should/would/did do something about it. My point is (again) you cant let people you dont know that dont know you dictate your feelings and your ability to enjoy something. Thats all.

“I wouldn’t care” is easy to say when you’ve had the luxury of not having to care for most of your life. When you haven’t had to put up with slurs, funny looks, sly comments, people treating you differently, “jokes” about how to solve the problem of your existence.

“Oh I just wouldn’t care that I wanted to enjoy this hobby and people who hate me made it all about hating me, reminding me that no matter where I go and no matter what I do, there will be people wishing harm upon me for something I can’t control. Just get thicker skin lol”

If you’re such a badass and don’t care about anything anyone says, why even comment on this thread? Oh right, you DO care about what strangers say, just not when it’s bigoted comments towards minorities :)

    Why not just ignore them?

Have you considered that some of the people reading those hateful messages will be black or LGBT and that they don’t want to ignore it, they want it to be removed so they can just enjoy the stream? If the chat was getting spammed with hateful messages about white men, would you feel welcome participating, or would you feel insulted, alienated and annoyed?

  • Since you said you just hit rank 7, I assume you’re probably new-ish to killer. Beating SWF gets easier with experience - you need to be able to anticipate what they’ll do so you can counter it.

For example, you down a survivor in front of a locker. If they’re in a SWF, you can check the locker first before picking up to make sure there’s nobody waiting there with Head On for a cheeky save. This sort of stuff you learn to do through experience (and falling victim to it a few times 😁).

A few things you need to watch out for in particular with SWF:

    • Flashlight saves! Always pick up facing a wall if you can.
    • Pallet saves. Always be cautious about picking up a survivor under a pallet.
    • Someone freshly unhooked baiting you into picking them up so they can DS you. If someone gets unhooked and immediately goes to save another hooked person, assume DS and slug them.

The biggest difference between solo and SWF is typically that SWF will be super altruistic and rush to save their friends. And because they can coordinate and tell each other where they are and where you are, it’s easier for SWF to pull off riskier plays. But riskier plays can be punished if you anticipate them, so just keep in mind that every match is an opportunity to learn something. Every time I have a match I feel went badly, I try to consider what I could have done differently.

  • The killer choosing to leave me is the best kind of win. I still consider it a win if I go down but bought my team plenty of time to do gens/unhooks/gates/whatever, though.

So if this “rule book” exists, what’s the penalty for breaking these rules?

Oh wait, you mean there is no penalty? You can play however you like and survivors can do nothing, except complain about it in an avoidable post-game chat? None of this stuff is bannable and nobody is gonna come round to your house and slap the cuffs on you for doing it so I don’t see why you would care if it’s popular or not.

Playing killer on console is a pain the ass. The frame drops can make for a very frustrating time. Not to mention, a lot of killers have stopped playing because of how the matchmaking is pitting them against survivors way out of their league; killers aren't having fun. Anyway, survivor is easier on console whereas killer is easier on PC (from what I've gathered from other players, I could be mistaken).

Devs can't really do anything about the wait time if it's due to a lack of players for a specific role. If everyone had long queues then it'd be one thing, but when only one side has a long queue and the other has a fast queue it suggests more people are playing one side over the other. Supposedly the new matchmaking they'll be coming out with will make faster lobbies, but if there's a huge imbalance between player numbers then I'd think only crossplay and/or bots could fix the core issue.

You’re not mistaken, it’s so much easier to play killer on PC. I switched from PS4 to PC this year and not only do I get to play with 120 FPS (which feels like a different game), but playing killer with mouse is so much more precise and I can customise the appearance of the game somewhat (nothing crazy, just the in game options and slightly increased brightness). I suck with keyboard and mouse controls but even with that handicap, I do much better and have more fun as killer on PC than I ever did on PS4. I wouldn’t go back to playing killer on console even if somebody paid me.

You don't understand what I'm saying. When the 5 generators are completed. What happens to the other 2 gens? They also activate. So when one of the gens in the 3 gen area are completed, 2 other cables spawn because of the 2 gens that weren't completed. The killer can't go round disconnecting every single cable because, the survivors only need 5 out of 7 completed. Or f*ck it, make it so killers can't disconnect the cables. So instead of the musical gens, the survivor has to complete the gen, then attach the cable and boom, thats an irreversible gen done

No, you don’t understand what I’m saying. The survivors need 5 of 7 cables, but if three spawn near each other the killer can protect them and keep the survivors stuck at 4 cables. If they connect the last one the killer would just disconnect it again, over and over. There would be no way to break the stalemate, matches would become hour long contests of will.

  • @Jordan_131201 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1328825#Comment_1328825

No because there are 7 generators. If they camp 1 gen, the survivors can just do the other gens. There's no way to camp the gens or the cables. There are 5 gens to complete, but 7 in total, meaning that the killer cant just camp the cables, because there are 7, and only 5 need completing

But if three gens spawned close together, the killer could just patrol them and stop the survivors powering the gates. If the survivors connected a cable in the three gen the killer would instantly disconnect it. There would be no way to counter it.

  • Having some tier 3 perks doesn’t necessarily mean anything. They may fail to pip in every match, be coming from a long break, or have played mostly killer and spent BPs levelling up some survivors.

  • @JustCats said:

Hi guys, looking for legit advice. I'm sub 100 hours and rank 8 killer and am starting to run into coordinated swf teams rushing gens. I play mostly Pig cause she's fun but don't have much more than Pig/generic perks.

Is there anything I can really do to a coordinated team that just takes turns tapping gens or am I just doomed to a gen-kicking simulator? I don't feel like I can commit to a chase because I'll get looped at least for a little while before I can down someone, at which point I lose at least one gen. I can't really use Pig's ability except in a chase, cause the rest of the time I feel like I'm running as fast as I can trying to kick gens to try and stay ahead of the rush - I can't waste time creeping around. But at that point I'm not applying any kind of pressure. Head traps are pointless because I'm already losing the gen rotation and don't have the time to add release stations to the route.

I legit am not sure what to do in this situation except to look for snoot boops and hope to de-pip to get in a fun game. I know I could grind for hex:ruin or the trapper perks but at this point it'll be kind of the same issue for 40 levels plus on whatever new killer I have to level to stay competitive at all.

Looking for actual advice on my current situation as I am fairly new and may just be missing something. I understand that other builds/perks can help but I do not have those available.

Other people have given you great advice, but I’d like to reiterate: stop kicking gens! It can be useful to kick them in certain situations or if you’re running Pop Goes The Weasel, but the vast majority of the time it isn’t worth it. It takes you more than 2 seconds to kick a gen and it regresses at 1/4 the speed that it progresses, and the survivors can undo your kick with a split-second tap as they run past.

Only kick gens if you know for certain that there are no survivors nearby. If you can account for where they are (taking off head traps, on the hook, healing, slugged), and the gen has decent progress, then kicking isn’t a bad idea. But if you suspect there’s a survivor waiting nearby or if you have the chance to chase someone, never waste your time kicking.

Your objective is to get survivors down as fast as possible. Getting downs is a much bigger threat to survivors than kicking gens could ever be.

  • There’s only one killer I truly hate to play against, and that’s an experienced Nurse. I’m well aware that learning her takes time and practice and I’m sure that’s rewarding but once it’s done, isn’t it just boring to know that you’ll win every match? I know it’s extremely unfun (for me) to play against. Her existence breaks the game, and I’m not sure how a killer that literally teleports through everything could ever be balanced.

Other killers I may enjoy less but at least there are things you can do. A really good Nurse makes you utterly powerless.

  • What if I disagree with PH countering hook perks, think lightburn against Wraith should be removed, but think flashlights against Hag are fine? Am I allowed to have both a survivor-sided and killer-sided opinion? :)

or maybe survivors could just adapt to it

It's one of the easiest addons to dodge, but survivors refuse to dodge them and ask for nerfs

Hell the only change they could make is soo they can only cary 2

    The addon is fine

Good luck dodging latency powered hatchets that hit you from metres away. You can’t dodge something that isn’t actually where it appears to be on your screen.

I'm not sure what your point is. First of all, I'm not a dev, so their words are completely irrelevant to my opinion. Second, you can set limits on things players can earn, which the devs have already shown to do by making it so many perks do not work together or at the same time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1325094#Comment_1325094

"If three survivors all go down next to a progressing gen one after the other after seeing the killer has Surge, they deserve that 24% regression."

Ok, and I disagree. It's unnecessary. And with those survivors down the gen will continue to regress even further. So even with Surge's limits, the killer is still earning regression by pressure.

My point is that it’s such a niche situation because it would be so pitifully easy to counter. Run away from the three gen and heal. The killer can’t proc it with an instadown and if they hit you, you can run away and deny it. Someone healthy can tap the gen, get hit and run away. You’d really have to screw up to let the killer use Surge on the same gen three times in 40 seconds, at which point it’s irrelevant because you’ve thrown the match already.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I feel like if you're getting multiple downs within 40 seconds you're probably already doing well and don't need the extra boost.

So in this scenario you down two survivors and a third survivor is working on a gen, netting you 16% of progress removed from that gen, plus two survivors on the ground and you know one more is in your immediate area working on a gen that he can't possibly complete before you get to him? Now let's say you down him and you've got three survivors down and 24% removed from a gen. I don't see how all of that is really necessary. Plus if you use larger TR perks you could remove even more progress because gens are often close together. It would make 3 genning with Doc even more powerful.

Surge is a fixed range, it isn’t affected by terror radius. It also only works on basic attacks, so it would only be dangerous if the survivors were all injured together or just totally incompetent and unable to run away.

If three survivors all go down next to a progressing gen one after the other after seeing the killer has Surge, they deserve that 24% regression.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

It honestly makes zero sense that this is still in the game because it's unavoidable. It's not like it's a lack of skill that causes it, it's just purely chance.

I love when it happens when you're on a gen with another survivor so you're the reason the gen doesn't get fixed and the killer comes over.

Honestly I hate this more than almost anything else. You go to leave the gen and immediately blow it up, pissing off your teammate and unintentionally throwing them under the bus. Then the killer comes along with Pop to compound your misery. I’ll never understand why this happens so damn often.

  • Some people use the word “boring” because they want to criticise something but don’t want to be challenged on their opinion. “Boring” is subjective, it can’t be argued with because every person finds different things boring. Calling something “boring” is noncommittal, you don’t have to back up your opinion with any arguments so it’s an easy cop out.

That said there’s stuff that’s legitimately boring in this game, and if people want to complain about things being boring then fine. I’m gonna play what I enjoy and if others find it boring then that sucks for them.

  • @SirCracken said:

Personally, I see hooked survivors as noisy blood pinatas. If I have maxed out STBFL or am playing a killer that can multi-hit I'll occasionally smack a hooked survivor for the sheer fun of it.

But some people really don't like that, even though it gives their team mates extra time, and they somehow think that me hitting them means I'm angry or something.

I think it's just weapons-grade projection at work. But I could be wrong.

Plenty of survivors have had the experience of looping a killer for a long time, going down, and then being facecamped and smacked over and over because the killer is angry or thinks the survivor is “toxic”. So in this community, the action of hitting a survivor on hook is usually interpreted as a salty killer venting frustration or ridiculing their opponent.

Out of context it means nothing, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone take it too seriously, but that’s why people find it rude. Just like crouching and pointing your finger into Pig’s nose is “booping the snoot” and a sign of submission, it’s a form of communication that developed because this game has no way to actually communicate.

  • If the survivor plays safe and knows the map inside out, and they get favourable RNG and low latency, then they could probably last a really long time without getting hit, sure. If the killer knows what they’re doing they’ll get the hit eventually but any really good killer will know to leave this kind of survivor. But if they were determined to just get this one guy, they’d get him eventually.

Then maybe that's what deathslinger needs aswell, a separate lullaby

Deathslinger humming some old cowboy campfire songs would be creepy as heck, not gonna lie.

  • Yeah it really is annoying. What should have been a down results in a healthy survivor running away from you. I hope they don’t swing it too far the other way (though getting sucked back and grabbed as you’re running away from a window does sound hilarious), but grabs basically never work for me now even though I have great ping and it’d be nice if I could actually try and get the tome challenge.

  • @DwightOP said:

Uhm, Huntress has a lullaby and is 110 range killer. That's how it should be balanced around.

Her terror radius is the same as other 110% killers though, the lullaby is a separate thing. Probably because she can down people from so far away.

  • @DwightOP said:

I personally don't understand why they made the TR of Deathslinger small. Especially with his custom TR music it fades in so slow and quite that I can barely notice it.

And once I hear the TR he is already so close to me that he can quick scope me without leaving me any reaction time. Add in maps like Lery's or simply tiles where you work on gens and blocking your whole view on the map and you can't even scout him from distance.

Imo deathslinger is one of the worst designed killers in the game atm. He is not overpowered but just bad designed.

It’s because he’s a 110% movement speed killer and they all have the same 24 metre terror radius.

The devs like the terror radius and the killer’s move speed to be linked. Many months back Pig used to be an anomaly and have a 28 metre terror radius, but they changed it to the standard 32 metres to keep her aligned with all other 115% killers.

That still begs the question, what did they do that matched Ardetha's plays? If the trial ended up as a 2k, that means the survivors must've matched the killer blow for blow.

“Matching the killer blow for blow” - I’m not even sure what this is supposed to mean in a game like this.

I’m not interested in doing a frame-by frame analysis of the video or in getting into a prolonged back and forth with you, especially since, as I said, the video is so heavily edited. If you disagree with me that’s fine.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323561#Comment_1323561

With the editing it is indeed hard to tell, but what did the survivors do that was so skilled, exactly, other than hold M1?

I said they played decently. That isn’t high praise, it’s a step above saying they were bad.

  • Eating the DS was his mistake. A freshly unhooked survivor going for a trade is almost guaranteed to be a DS play so he should have seen it coming.

This seemed like a fairly balanced match to me overall. The survivors played decently and so did he. He got 2 kills and probably could have got more if he’d slugged a bit more. But there’s way too much editing in the video to say much else, and especially to comment on whether the gens were too fast or not.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

As a killer main myself, this is a topic that has baffled me.

When I play killer, I don't punish survivors for playing a specific character. For the most part, I treat all the survivors equally.

And yet I've noticed that killers will punish Claudette players for simply picking the character (such as using a mori or tunneling).

    Why?

Is it because some of them like to blend with the environment? Who cares lol. They're not hurting anyone. Stealth is part of the game.

Is it because those players have a history of being toxic? Toxic Claudette players are very rare in my experience. And even if those players did have a tendency to be toxic, assuming that all Claudette players are toxic would be stereotyping.

Personally, I think it's small and petty to single out a survivor just because they are playing a certain character.

In my experience a lot of Claudette players are just stupid, unfortunately. She has an extremely negative stigma because of her P3 camouflage, which is often used to play badly and selfishly.

I actually like Claudette and her lore so I don’t care to treat people who play her any differently, but anecdotally Claudette players are the most likely to be dead weight or get really salty in end game chat. Especially low rank Claudettes, so people associate her with those negative experiences.

  • I agree about not healing against Legion, but can we also talk about survivors who drop pallets vs Legion in Frenzy?

LEGION CAN VAULT PALLETS. Any Legion with more than a handful of hours will respect pallets in Frenzy and then hit you anyway, so by dropping that pallet you just made it that much harder for your team to loop him when injured.

Don’t fear the Frenzy hit. It’s inevitable. You can try to juke it or window tech it or whatever but assume that it will happen, and SAVE PALLETS FOR WHEN YOU’RE INJURED.

  • I don’t care if someone teabags me. Most teabaggers aren’t very good, and if they are good then getting mad about their teabags will just make me play worse. I don’t think most people mean it too seriously, they’re just trying to annoy you.

    I only teabag as survivor when I escape a facecamper/hardcore tunneller/ebony mori.

According to Tru3, new MMR was in effect. He streamed a game as Freddy and claimed that the new MMR was active as it had put him up against certain players.

Can this be confirmed? If so, is it across all platforms?

People can claim anything. Even if it’s someone with a big audience, they’re just as likely to be mistaken as anyone else. Until the devs announce that the new MMR has been rolled out, I’d take anyone claiming something like this with a big pinch of salt, especially someone like Tru3 who often exaggerates.

  • A lot of people assume that survivors kill themselves on hook over the killer, but that isn’t always the case. If someone suicides on hook it’s often because of the actions of the other survivors, in my experience. So it probably has nothing to do with Plague in particular.

  • @Dehitay said:

Wait, you saw a survivor healing with your Bond and couldn't figure out how to get them to stop self caring? I honestly don't think Kate was the stupid one in this scenario.

As killer, I love it when survivors don't heal. And a lack of self care is one of the biggest ways to take away the ability to heal so go ahead and spread this propoganda.

I hate survivors who don’t heal. If I could choose, I would choose a team of 4 Self Cares over a team of 4 people who do gens injured, every single time.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes healing is necessary, especially against certain killers. But a team of people who spend at least 32 seconds healing every time I injure them? Easy game for me.

  • The killers who benefit from it most are those with the ability to reliably one-shot. Typically I see it recommended for killers like Bubba, Plague and Myers. Really aggressive killers like Billy or Huntress suck with it because every offensive action loses a token, so if you miss a chainsaw or a hatchet you lose speed. Unless you’re confident you can hit with your power almost every time, it’s not worth it. Wraith can make it work since he can find the Obsession and then start and drop a chase three times really easily by uncloaking and cloaking. For most M1 killers it’s not worth it since you’ll spend too much time trying to get stacks and then just lose them really fast.

It’s really good paired with Nemesis because you don’t have to spend time finding your Obsession, you can just eat stuns, create one and get a stack.

  • Like others have said, I’d use maps more if they were less rare. I get a ton of map add ons but very few maps. But I actually like using them as they are now, they’re useful and give you easy bloodpoints.

Last I remember, he was adjusting the audio settings to fix audio problems he was having in-game. That's not the same thing as giving yourself in-game advantages you shouldn't have.

The game is balanced around sight and sound. The devs themselves have said that it’s harder to hear survivors in a chase for a reason, to give them a chance to escape. Messing with sound settings is no different from messing with visual settings, he can say it’s to “fix problems” all he wants but the people using stretched res could say exactly the same. He’s just a hypocrite.

    Starts at 0:58 ( link with timestamp: https://youtu.be/2_auq7u4mmk?t=58 )

1:28 "You see that, when she turned around she was perfectly hidden. [...] you see once again, if I had a more vertical view I'd have seen her easier" (I hope I got that 2nd part right, sometimes its hard to quote his exact words).

4:22 I kinda dont wanna get into it, some people refuse to believe its the reality. I dont wanna get into that negativity. [...] I know these things man. I could literally see over the hill with stretched screen. I'd be able to know where the killer is man. I dont want to talk about that.

Just look at the clip, he clearly got caught bc he's playing on normal res. /s

The amount of times I've been accused and reported for lag switching because someone's internet acts up is uncountable.Has nothing to do with the fact that your brother is looking up some raunchy videos...nope, its definitely me cheating, lol. VPNs is the new accusation now. Honestly... I cant wait til they do their thing too, if nothing else than to find out the next thing ppl will accuse each other of.

For your examples, you claim everything weird thats ever happened is the result of the killer and whatever ping shenanigans theyre pulling. Weird hit happened? Its the fault of whoever I'm against surely. You didnt stop to find out the killer's ping before declaring them "high ping killers".

Some people will claim “omg your internet sucks” / “VPN killer!” over a small lag spike or expected latency, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I expect and can play around some questionable hits, but when every survivor in the match is getting hit by the killer from miles away, it’s pretty obvious what the issue is.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

The devs have confirmed on several streams they're looking into solutions for this. One of which is a server-sided sanity check, which ensures all hits are feesably possible instead of being client-sided.

Edit: Also if they're admitting to it, report them. This is cheating and they can get banned for it. Ensure you file an extra report on the dead by daylight support- submit a ticket under "Additional Player Report Information"

Does BHVR consider it cheating? I’ve never seen them actually say this, and it isn’t listed as a bannable offence anywhere as far as I know. If they do I’ll start recording and reporting.

    For your best interest,

DO NOT DO ANY OF WHAT PEOPLE DO ABOVE!!

    THEY ARE PLAYING SURVIVOR WRONG!!

The correct way of playing survivor is the following:

you must IMMEDIATELY start working on a generator and leave other non-necessary stuff for later such as opening chest, cleansing totem or in certain cases unhooking a teammate. you also must realize that there are 4 survivors spawn in a trial and the killer can ONLY chase 1 survivor at a time which means one of the 4 of you has to get ready to get chased whilst working on a gen. Its extremely necessary for your teammates to be working on generators while someone is being chased.

Play with your friends its so much rewarding!

Have Decisive strike, Unbreakable, Dead Hard and Adrenaline ( or Borrowed Time ) Those perks are the hands down most powerful perks in the game.

Trust me, trust me, trust me if all 4 of you did the above mentioned playstyle you WILL survive 80% of your games.

If all survivors spawn fairly near to each other then everyone just doing the first gen they see is asking to be three gen’d. You definitely want to pressure gens early as much as possible but you also want to make it simple for your teammates. Do central gens and unsafe gens first. Split up.

  • Sounds like you’re not having fun with the game so maybe it’s for the best. Good luck in whichever game you end up playing next. :)

  • I try to figure out where I spawned in relation to everything else, if others spawned with me (and if so what they're doing), and where the gen that's closest to the middle of the map is. If I spawned in a corner I usually won't do that gen since I try to get the central gen(s) done as early as possible. I also try to avoid doing gens with others early in the game so if we all spawned together, I'll run off to spread out.

  • It’s latency due to dedicated servers. I used to enjoy playing against Huntress and Hillbilly but on dedicated servers I hate them both, you get hit through walls, well around corners, long after dropping pallets and seconds after vaulting windows, it’s really frustrating. There’s no real way to play around their powers when the killer is actually metres away from where they look like they are on your screen.

  • I think locker DS is fine, and that clip was hilarious. Three people back to back from the same locker, I wouldn’t even be mad lmao.

  • Having just played against a killer with atrocious ping that was the cause of my being downed more than once, I’m cautiously hopeful on the survivor side.

I have good ping and connect to a nearby server so I’m not too worried about the killer side personally, but I feel like there will be a lot of complaints about stolen hits and general weirdness once it rolls out. Who’s taking bets for which killer power breaks first?

  • I was hoping they’d address the grind in their anniversary stream but I guess not. Good luck to the new players brought in by Silent Hill.

I appreciate this comment because you actually read and responded to what I wrote. I agree that it most likely is simply people not understanding the perk and how to use it, or making poor plays in the moment. I wasn't sure if there was a logical reason I was missing.

They could just assume that the survivors will creep around the outskirts of the map waiting out their CI. That does happen sometimes. I usually use CI when I’m playing Trapper so it doesn’t bother me, I use their wasted 2 minutes to set up, but if you’re playing a more aggressive killer I guess I could see why you might patrol blocked gens. It seems like a gamble to beeline right for them though.

Yeah but I'm talking literally within seconds of the match starting. As in the killer made a beeline to the blocked gen.

This is why people say CI is a weak perk. They equip it and literally don't use it

A lot of people who play video games don’t really know what they’re doing or how to effectively use their perks. The average player is not very good.

I recently had a Spirit phase to me cleansing a dull totem in the corner of the map while my teammates finished the last gen. It lost her the game but I guess in the moment it seemed like the right play. It is what it is, people misplay and that’s what keeps the game interesting.

Did you take note of the map, perks, add-ons, all that crap?

I remember the map but didn't make note of the other stuff. I'll keep an eye on it in a few more matches and see if I can get some more data.
