  • IMO it’s a combination of auto aim, low FPS and slow turning with controller. Sometimes the killer does just miss, there are PC killers that miss 360s.

But it’s definitely gonna be funny to watch console survivors learn that 360ing won’t have the same effect on most PC killers when crossplay comes out.

I've been playing spirit for less then a week and already 4/3k almost everygame

    Shes really not that hard

It’s a copypasta, they’re not being serious lol.

  • I like both and enjoy the fact that there are two sides to the game and that the experience is quite different for both. I’d get bored out of my skull if I only played survivor, and I’d stop enjoying the game if I only played killer. Being able to switch back and forth keeps the game fun for me.

  • Don’t bother with Clown, unlock Pop Goes The Weasel from this week’s shrine and you’re good.

Spirit is a strong killer and her perks are decent so she’s a good choice. She may be a bit difficult for a newer player to pick up but once you have killer fundamentals down she’s a powerhouse.

Legion has one good perk (Discordance) but is otherwise just okay. People seem to either love or hate them. They’re pretty good for newer players since their power is fairly straightforward.

Demogorgon’s perks are bad, but he’s a fun killer and pretty solid. Not overly strong, but not overly weak either.

Scratch Mark's are bugged and delayed... which is why spirit players dont rely on them

Yeah they’re horrible and only really good for general tracking, not precise tracking. I started playing with Fixated recently and it’s absurd where some of the scratch marks end up compared to how you actually path.

Why do people think so many Spirits are happy to play with Mother-Daughter Ring? Because scratch marks are not a good way to track invisible people in chase.

  • Everyone got a ton of bloodpoints and grinded through a lot of webs during the event, so they have lots more good stuff to use. Or they’re using up their good stuff before they prestige with their hoarded points. That’s all I can think because I haven’t seen this many syringe medkits since they announced its nerf, lol.

I think the reason is literally just that they can't think of something thematically relevant to the relationship between Laurie and Michael, and they'd probably also need to run it by the license holder if they did a complete rework.

I saw a suggestion for a rework here on the forums (I can’t remember who it was, sorry) that sounded like it would work thematically: whenever the killer sees your aura, you see theirs. Would still give useful information but it wouldn’t completely cripple certain killers.

Hey everyone! Former stretched-res user here.

Until recently, I've been one of those "stretched-res Fair and Good" gamers for around 5 months now. I first found out about it through watching The JRM and Ussylis (Survivor main YouTubers), and after watching them use stretched resolution for a while, I decided to try it out (went from 1920x1080 to 1600x1080)... and I thought it was great! I was especially glad that my character didn't take up most of the screen like normal. However, when I saw people talking about how stretched resolution gave an advantage and was "unfair", I felt defensive, and would deny that it gave any advantages and was simply for aesthetics. And honestly, I believed it at the time!

I won't go too in-depth about why I quit using stretched-res, I'll just say that I wanted to go back to how Dead by Daylight was meant to be played (and part of this was going back to High graphics when I had been using Low for an advantage as well). It sucked some of the fun out of the game for me, changing my settings to have an unfair advantage.

But anyway, in regard to the title of the post: Yes, stretched resolution gives you an advantage... on Survivor side, at least. It honestly doesn't do much for Killer, surprisingly. Here are a couple of screenshots that show the blatant difference between stretched-res and non-stretched (right-click and open the images in browser for full size):

    Non-stretched:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0WXDGB6YVNNJ/screenshot-6.png

    Stretched:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KV85XDZ5TUTF/screenshot-7.png

In both screenshots, my character's head is positioned in the middle of the 4th board next to the Killer's shack opening. With stretched-res, I am able to clearly see the entire doorway, while with non-stretched I can only see a little over half of it. And, believe it or not, in the stretched-res screenshot, Pyramid Head is standing in the exact same spot that he was standing in the non-stretched screenshot.

Stretched resolution enables Survivors to see around and over obstacles/loops that are normally unable to be seen over/around. Basically, it provides a flat FOV increase, and it is especially noticable with the third-person camera of Survivor. The camera also seems to appear further behind the character. UI elements also appear to be smaller.

In the end, I just want to make it known that stretched resolution DOES provide a noticeable advantage over non-stretched, and I have experienced it myself through nearly 5 months of stretched-res gameplay. I've seen many people claiming what I used to believe about stretched-res, that it is fair and only for aesthetics, and many other people claiming that stretched-res is cheating. While I don't think that stretched-res is flat-out cheating, I do think that it is unfair and cheesy. Survivors are able to take advantage of stretched resolution quite a bit, while Killers really don't benefit from it whatsoever.

I think that stretched-res is fine on games that have a level playing-field like CS:GO and R6:S, but DbD is assymetrical--it is not a level playing-field. Survivors already have a tremendous advantage over the Killer with having a third-person camera, and stretched-res enables them to see more with their camera than they were meant to see.

I hope this helps shed some light on the truth of stretched resolution, and thanks for reading!

I disagree that stretched res doesn’t help on killer, more vertical FOV is actually surprisingly helpful in quite a few situations. I know a lot of Nurse players use it because you can see way more in fatigue, for example. And if you’re playing against survivors that try to 360, window tech, etc. a lot they basically can’t because you can follow their close up movements much more easily.

But yeah, it definitely gives advantages and is probably more overall useful for survivors.

  • End Game Collapse exists to bring the match to an end. Nobody really wants 25 minute matches and the old hatch stand off was ridiculous. Plus you could have situations where a killer could bodyblock a survivor and keep them there indefinitely. EGC ended all that kind of stuff, thank god.

I'm not saying stripping the ability to see scratch marks or notifications.

Juts no grunts, whimpers or whines. Stridor should grand the ability to hear whimper and whines but it should not counter Iron Will.

Scratch marks are bonkers, they’re completely unreliable most of the time. This change would make Spirit useless at any moderately safe pallet since she’s 110%. There’s a reason 110% killers all have anti-loop powers.

So make her totally dependent on Stridor? Making her have to equip a perk to unlock a base game mechanic would be a bit silly. I can’t think of any other killer that has to equip a perk to make their power actually useful and it’s not a road I think the devs should go down honestly.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

    Agreed. 100%.

Her phasing should be a means of getting from Point A to Point B quickly.

Her ability to hear anything should be stripped away during her phase. It'll take a bit more skill to use her but it will not drop her in Rank.

    And I play Spirit.

This would kill her if she got nothing else to compensate. I mean, the reason she’s considered high tier is because she can end chases quickly. Without being able to hear anything in phase she’d lose that and become a 110% killer with no chase ability.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I think Spirit with Stridor is fine but I totally disagree that taking away her ears during phase wouldn’t affect her much. Look at how much people complain about broken sounds on every other killer - being able to hear what the survivors are doing is an important part of playing killer for a lot of people.

  • This will never happen unfortunately, you’re best off just chasing them out.

  • @woundcowboy said:

We've finally arrived....people are now screaming for general killers nerfs as opposed to certain characters. Is this the survivor main's final form?

No, this is the first form, the newbie survivor player who thinks all killers are overpowered because they’re new to the game and still have a lot to learn. Be kind to them, they mean no harm, they just don’t know the ins and outs of the game yet. :(

I was watching one of tru3's videos and Dwight straight up runs right past him without making a single noise while injured and stridor.

You can try to hear it yourself at 7:10 as tru3 doesn't stays quiet about it until it happens.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UitRp4oeJIc&t=430ss

To be fair I don’t blame him if he goes on about it, this is one of the things I can’t disagree with him complaining loudly about. Survivors making no sounds is so frustrating and it’s making killer a real chore to play at the moment. Having a survivor run past you and not knowing because your FOV is so restricted, scratch marks are delayed and they’re completely silent is just ridiculous honestly. And this has been in the game for a long time now and it’s such a common issue.

Sorry, can you tell that this bug bothers me? Haha.

Hackers really hit the servers hard where on every platform, PC, PS4, One, and Switch, all public matches were unplayable. Gun was at a loss of words and the game was unplayable for 2 weeks. Illfonic and Gun Media screwed up that game more than the lawsuit did. I won't ever buy another game from them. Between terrible gameplay decisions to complete incompetence. I think we should just leave Jason alone at the Camp.

Ouch. Feels bad for the people who’ve paid for the game and want to be able to play it. :/ Two weeks is a long time for it to go unaddressed.

That's not the point the op is trying to make. The vast majority of Deathslingers, at least that I face play exactly like this. They proxy the area and wait for you to come to them. Even then they won't chase you. And most of them will run Monitor to avoid BT so they can immediately slug the unhook. Sadly I've yet to have a single enjoyable Deathslinger match.

Yeah it’s not very fun to face. Unfortunately if they don’t do it they’re asking to lose against any survivor team with a brain since he’s so slow. Split up and rush gens and he can’t do #########.

  • @Wylesong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443163#Comment_1443163

Well I don't feel it changes your game play. I mean if I see a key I play the same way as I always do as a killer. I mean if they can get 4 out of 5 gens done and find a hatch they deserve it. I do see though what you mean and how it could change a killers play style for more of the scummy sense. I mean it may make a killer camp just to get a kill because other than that I am not sure how you could play scummy when someone has a key because the goal is still stop gens and kill.

When I play survivor and see a Mori I do not think gen rush because if you are at a gen most the time at least in my experience in solo que once a Mori is discovered people tend to hide and hope to find the hatch and be the last survivor. I end up being the one person doing gens and then getting killed. lol

I also find it interesting you are seeing keys more than mori's. It is interesting and probably because we are playing on different platforms. I personally almost never see a key or even use one because the chance of getting to ACTUALLY use it is slim. The funny thing is it is the opposite reason I do not use Mori's and why I have a big collection of them. It is because they are to easy to use.

Thanks for the feedback and your thought and opinion. =)

So as an example, playing a match of killer yesterday I saw that the survivors had a key but the person using it managed to avoid me most of the game (it was a Claudette, big surprise). I’d hooked the other three survivors twice so they were all on death hook, and in this time they had managed to complete 4 gens, but on the other side of the map so they left me with an easily defendable 3 gen. I downed one of the death hook guys and had to choose between killing him and potentially letting the other three escape through the hatch (I knew they were a SWF so this was likely), or playing around the key. So what I ended up doing was slugging the three dead on hook and chasing the guy with the key until I caught him. He ended up dying on his first hook and everyone else ate dirt. Not a particularly fun end to the match for them.

I really don’t agree that survivors finishing some gens and finding the hatch means they deserve to escape just because they brought an item. Maybe this is because I play low mobility M1 killers. I need to not camp or tunnel so I must hook everyone three times on rotation, and also defend gens, and then on top of that play around keys. I can’t kill anyone too early because that wouldn’t be fun, but if I kill someone too late the others can key out. I can’t fall back on a three gen but I don’t have enough mobility to patrol all the gens quickly. I’m supposed to not worry about gens popping early because it’s not the end of the match, but keys make it so it can be. I basically have to snowball and get everyone down at once, and survivors are the ones that allow that to happen.

And yeah, I don’t use moris or keys either. I personally don’t find it fun cutting the game short, and keys just get you tunnelled a lot of the time.

  • @Wylesong said:

I am sure we are all sick of this topic but I am gonna ask anyway. I know they both are strong but does anyone feel one is stronger than the other and why?

I only ask this because after MANY games this week and overall 1300 hours of game play I am seeing Mori's used 3 out of 5 matches and keys used 1 out of 5. The keys tend to get used in one of two situations it seems like. It is either for a challenge or someone searched a chest and stumbled on one. I have matches where 3 killers in a row bring a ebony mori.

I want to say CLEAR AS EVER, I THINK BOTH ARE OKAY AND HAVE THEIR PLACE!

I do however think that mori's personally are much MUCH easier to use than keys. The killers I have faced who bring them normally tunnel and kill fast. I have seen killers clear a match in about 5 minutes flat because it is one hook dead. I even had one game where we seen the survivor get moried so my team I guess decided to say screw it and if you got hooked they just left you there because they knew what was next. I never use mori's only because how strong they are plus I like to get as many points as possible so hate to kill someone only after one hook.

They keys though WHEN they are brought in not only take time you also need to hope you can rely on your team to help get enough gens done but, then you also hope you can find the hatch.

Please understand I am not saying one should stay and the other should go but just trying to be 100% honest in my opinion as a person who plays equally both sides. I kind of feel that mori's at least in my experience are used more because most the time the killer knows they will get to use it. Keys are used only in very certain situations because it takes a good amount of work to even use it. I like both and think they are both good things to have for a challenge.

I would like to hear others opinions and please keep it nice. Also please do not take my opinion personally and play anyway you like. =)

Moris are stronger, but I see keys way more often personally.

I think they both have a negative impact on gameplay. Seeing a mori/key changes your playstyle for the worse. I hate seeing a key and knowing that I have to play scummy or just let people escape, or seeing a mori and knowing I have to rush gens to the exclusion of absolutely everything else.

Hey guys. I am fairly new to the wonderfully terrifying land of Dead by Daylight and have loved almost every suspense filled step of my journey. I have tried to play as both killer and survivor equally and have about 50 hours played overall. I consider myself an extremely "fair" player, as I am all in for the thrill and fun of it. With this being said, I have a question...

Who ACTUALLY enjoys the Wraith? I have never had a fun match playing AS or AGAINST this character. Everyone dies. I think this character would maybe be more balanced if invisibility mobility was hindered or slowed. I love playing with and against the Spirit, which seems much more of a balanced character by taking away the ability to see survivors and implementing an ability cooldown... But Wraith seems way too over powered. What does the community honestly think about this killer? I'd like to see a large nerf done. Thoughts?

Welcome to the game and the community!

Your opinions about how strong or weak killers are will change all the time as you sink more hours into the game. I remember when I was much more new and used to think Pig was the most OP killer ever, and now I don’t think so at all haha.

Most people here will probably disagree with you about Wraith being overpowered - a lot of people consider Wraith quite weak, and he’s definitely a killer that can be harder to do well with against experienced survivors. If you want tips on how to survive against him, I’d recommend checking out some looping guides on YouTube. Using windows and pallets effectively definitely helps you to perform better against him!

Yes, we are entitled to opinions... but making false statements such as SWF “literally breaks the game” is where I’m going to speak up. That’s not an opinion because it’s simply not true.

I mean SWF does render multiple perks useless and weakens certain killers and strategies. It also buffs some survivor perks and strategies. I agree that “breaks the game” is hyperbolic but it definitely affects balance having people communicating about the game when there’s no in-game communication. Four pairs of eyes are always going to be better than one and having easy access to knowledge of what everyone in the match is doing when solos have to run perks for the same information is not an insignificant advantage.

  • Deathslinger isn’t OP. He’s annoying to face in my opinion and I sigh every time I have to face one but he’s not OP. As long as you split up and don’t give him the chance to snowball you can take advantage of his slow speed to get gens done quickly.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440975#Comment_1440975

Yes, it gives you an advantage. Does it break the game? Not even close. I’ve watched tournaments of killers going against very good, strong teams and they can 4K, so it’s not something that makes the game unplayable/unwinnable for killers.

This thread isn’t about what’s OP or game breaking or unwinnable, just what things people find unfun. A lot of people find facing SWF unfun. I don’t always agree, like I don’t agree with people who find Huntress unfun, but they’re entitled to their opinion.

I haven’t been playing Dbd for long, about 4 to 5 months now. Eventually I started to notice people sending the messages you’d expect like “Camper Trash”, “Tunneler” etc. Then I started to learn more about the game and I started hearing about the “Survivor Entitlement” thing. I still don’t get 100% what the big deal is. Most survivors I go against whine because they didn’t survive which seems normal, but if they whine because they didn’t make it, it’s their problem not mine, right? Where’d people get the “Entitled Survivor “ Brain from? Where’d that come from?

This happens in every PvP game, it’s just people who are frustrated. Dying in a game is frustrating because it forces you to stop what you were doing and start over, or go back to the main menu. Nobody likes to have their fun interrupted.

”Rule book” concepts exist in tons of games. I was surprised to find out that a lot of FPS players now complain about being “thirsted”. Or look at people ranting about move spamming, camping, spawn peeking, and so on and so on. It’s not against the rules to camp a doorway in CoD but some people still hate it and will talk ######### about people who do it.

i just faced a 4 man swf , all red ranks, with 4 object of obsessions, DS, BT. As freddy on midwich

That was the roughest game i ever played. Felt totally useless. When i would chase someone they will send a healthy guy to body block or distract. 1 guy will follow chase to do pallet saves/flashlight saves. Other 2 doing gens, when i finally hook one guy, which took forever because i cant mind game them. We can see eachothers auras fairly close. Not sure why.

Then they will switch out, heal, and reset and repeat.

Im kinda new to freddy so im not sure how dream world works with the object distance because of terror radius and what not.

Every move they make was planned out. And i had to play by their rules. Looking for some advice.

Fyi i know freddy has the oblivious addon, but i cant use that for every match, you know what i mean? Or should i farm it before jumping into a game? Thoughts?

I hate to say it but I think playing as Freddy against 4 Objects on this map there really isn’t a lot you could have done. Like you said, because the survivors become Oblivious when asleep, they can see your aura at all times and you can’t mind game. The blindness add on would have helped in chase but even then, Object on this map is pretty overpowered.

Luckily this is really rare, I don’t think I’ve ever seen four (or even three) people all running Object and I’ve been playing for 2 years, it’s definitely not something that happens often. Did they use an offering to send you to this map by any chance?

What is the time for cooldown (charging 2 blinks), missed attacks and fatigue? Or you want to tell me if you just fully charge a blink you will eventually hit them? How long would the chase take?

Walk in straight line for as long as you can then change direction/u-turn and walk straight line, rinse and repeat.. When I do that as survivor I virtually never go down and even if I do go down a chase could literally take 120 seconds.

BTW: Your profile proofs literally nothing. Stream some nurse gameplay if you insist so.

If you’re changing direction or u-turning you’re not running in a straight line, you’re in fact doing the opposite of running in a straight line, which only proves my point does it not?

I mained her for so long and losing LoS/walking straight is easy win against her with all those cooldowns and fatigues.

Can’t people on these forums come up with anything more original than telling anyone who disagrees with anything you say that they don’t play killer? Go look at my profile if you want proof since you’re all so insistent on calling everyone survivor mains.

Survivors run at 4 metres a second. Nurse can blink up to 32 metres at base and she moves at 13 metres a second while blinking. Please tell me how brainlessly running in a straight line is good counterplay to a Nurse.

Also she downs fast, but not that fast, against good survivors a chase will be minimum 30 seconds and max a minute because they can just run in a straight line.

Camaraderie again?! No “good survivor team” is gonna waste a perk slot on Camaraderie.

You can spread out, assuming you spawn in a corner of the map, someone goes left, someone goes right, someone says where you spawned and the final survivor goes center gen.

And once the Nurse starts injuring and downing people, what? Leave each other to die? Considering how quickly Nurse can down people that’s a recipe to lose. You can’t keep all survivors completely split up for five minutes, even if you try to coordinate social distancing in game survivors have to cross paths with each other at some point.

Spread out + unbreakables and maybe some camaraderies, nah, no way. Especially with the amount of bugs on her.

You can’t spread out if you spawn together (which happens often) and the Nurse knows where survivors spawn (which most experienced killers do). Unbreakable would buy you time but considering Nurse can down survivors in seconds it probably wouldn’t add much time. And Camaraderie is a meme perk that nobody runs so I don’t think it’s even worth mentioning.

If the killer wins in the first 5 minutes, the survivors played trash.

If the survivors win in the first 5 minutes (or more), either A) The killer was trash, or B) The survivors genrushed to high hell

There is absolutely nothing in this game that makes you win as killer in under 5 min against a good squad, nothing. As much as you might want to deny it, the survivors were trash.

You’re wrong. A good Nurse could easily win the game in under 5 minutes against a good squad.

  • I had a survivor telling me off for “camping” yesterday but another survivor came to my defence (since I didn’t camp, lol). It’s always fun when that happens.

I dunno, I seem to run into mostly nice survivors lately. Some salt here and there but more ggs than insults.

  • It’s rank reset tomorrow, so as it’s the latest point in the rank reset cycle everyone that’s ever played survivor has made it to red ranks.

  • All Spirits would run Father’s Glasses until people complained and that got nerfed, and then nobody would play her.

  • This happens to me all the time too, it’s extremely frustrating.

If you could buff Pig how would you buff her?

Make her crouch move speed slightly faster.

Otherwise I wouldn’t change anything else personally, I feel like her weaknesses are really only the same as every other M1 killer and that’s an issue with the game mechanics, not individual killer powers.

Agreed. I think I was watching Puppers last night and he said the exact same thing. He also added make it Rank 30 to 1, and make it tougher to pip for survivor, and a little easier for killers. Honestly, I wouldn't say no to seeing everyone just thrown back to Rank 20, and forced into a new pip system to finally weed out the potatoes of this game. I'm so tired of seeing them every damn match.

It really doesn’t need to be easier for killers IMO. I went against a red rank killer yesterday who had 100 hours in the game and didn’t know how his killer power or half his perks worked. :/ Someone who’s that new shouldn’t be able to so easily make it to red ranks, it’s not fun for anyone.

  • I feel like this perk perfectly demonstrates why the tier system for perks is flawed. If you had some kind of control over what tier your perk is or when you get it, it would be fine,L but you’re at the mercy of RNG. And some tiers of a perk are just straight up not worth a perk slot.
