  • You definitely need to be more aggressive with your Corrupt Purge. It’s extremely powerful and most survivors actually fear it. Don’t travel across the map to grab a pool in the corner, but pools near gens or central structures are your best friend. If you see more than one survivor around, or injured survivors, and you have a corrupted pool handy, drink it and start to snowball.

The kiss of death when playing Plague is over committing to any one chase. Since survivors have nothing else to do except gens (no need to heal), taking your eye off the ball for too long will mean you lose 2-3 at once. So you really need to juggle and prioritise certain targets, and don’t be afraid to slug when you have Corrupt.

  • Because 9 times out of 10 it’s an ebony mori and the killer just moris straight off hook. It’s a ######### match in which you’re unlikely to survive, pip, complete a challenge, get any bloodpoints or have fun of any kind so it’s just a waste of time for most survivors. I don’t condone it, but I also don’t blame anyone who dcs from moris to be honest.

  • I don’t use stretched and I can see tall killers like Billy mindgame these kinds of tiles, you just tilt your camera down and you can see their head and which way it’s facing which is all you need. You really don’t need stretched to do it.

Also I still have no idea what to do in the Institute! :D!

There are some grassy areas with pallets on the outskirts of the map, they can work. Traps on the staircases around the central room can work too if you place them slightly hidden from view. And finally there are a couple of windows that are really strong so survivors who know the map will always go to them; they’re good to trap.

  • I don’t think she’s OP because there are downsides to her kit and she’s adequately punished for misplays. If the Spirit player has bad game sense they will lose more often than not. I personally don’t have too many problems getting survivors out against Spirit as a solo survivor, as long as my teammates aren’t the type to run away from her in a straight line and therefore go down in 10 seconds.

She was absolutely OP before her nerfs (collision while phasing, vault animation, add ons), because she could really easily injure people during phase by just bumping into them. As long as you pay attention and play it safe I feel like she has adequate counterplay now. Being injured is really dangerous against her but I don’t consider that an unbalanced thing personally, I feel like survivors should be scared to be injured.

  • Because he’s so big in terms of viewership and number of YouTube videos, I think that new DBD players are highly likely to see Tru3’s content first, so a lot of his community is newer players who are looking to understand the game. He’s good at explaining things in a straightforward way and he does have a good grasp of most things so you learn a lot watching him.

This definitely skews towards killer though. If you want to learn how to play survivor you’ll probably go elsewhere. He leans pretty heavily in to the “underpowered killer destroys toxic 4 man swf” type videos because they give him a lot of clicks, so he attracts people who are looking for that kind of content (who will typically be newer killer players that are struggling against SWF and want to see how to beat those teams), and turns away new survivor mains who are more likely to want to see juke montages, flashlight guides, etc. etc.

I just played a game with ghost face on a Coldwind map and got completely gen rushed. Like oh my god there was nothing I could do absolutely zero counterplay. First three gens within the first minute.

And a Survivor has the audacity to tell me I have no map pressure. TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE BUILDS. No map pressure my butt. I had eight stacks of STBFL and was literally downing people as fast as physically possible on this Killer. I even had good add-ons.

Just stop. If you're literally gen rushing own up to it and don't blame the Killer for "no map pressure." Sit down.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TU7XDEUNG26M/deadbydaylight-7-30-2020-9-05-18-pm.png

I’m impressed that you got that many bloodpoints with those survivor builds, honestly. You must have pressured them some because the ultra sweaty gen rush builds I’ve played with/against in the past have usually ended up with 10k bloodpoints across the board.

  • I’m usually first found but that’s because I immediately start sprinting around and hop on a gen. Being first found isn’t an issue if you’re comfortable looping the killer, if not you may be better served playing a little more stealthy until you know the killer is otherwise occupied.

  • I occasionally equip silly ones, like the pizza or the snowflake, but most of the time I don’t even have any equipped. They’re a waste of resources in my opinion.

From what I understood you don't need a 4 man escape to do this challenge..you should be able to gain 1 point towards it each time a survivor leaves the trial before you die/escape, so you could do it even in 3 different trials I believe?

    Am I getting this wrong?

No you’re right, I misunderstood the challenge. The scenario I gave would get it in one go (I think?) but you could do it over multiple trials it seems. You just need to have someone escape, then you escape and you get a point towards it.

  • You just have to do this challenge last, set it and wait for a game where it’s an easy 4 man escape. Wait in the exit gates until all other survivors have left and then leave, hoping that they don’t also have the same challenge.

These RNG challenges suck but at least it isn’t another “creep around the killer for 5 minutes” challenge that forces you to throw the game.

  • I feel like they should also increase the trap hit box size a little. Nothing crazy, but the fact that survivors can shimmy past traps in a lot of places because the trap hit box is so small is a bit stupid. Even if you’re amazing at placing traps and account for their size, you’re still limited in what areas you can actually close off by how small they are.

  • Because reworking add ons and slapping a fairly forgiving overheat mechanic on Billy’s power is a straightforward change. How on earth do you “fix” Spirit in a way that most people will be happy with? Most people’s suggestions for Spirit changes would make her garbage, they have to come up with something that feels fair and makes sense without changing the entire design of the character.

Not to mention that they already touched Spirit, they added a vault animation, removed collision when phasing, nerfed her lunge, nerfed several add ons and reworked prayer beads, all changes that made her much easier to deal with.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Im still confused as to why they chose to rework Billy instead Wraith or Trapper. I bet its because they both have saws. Regarding knockout, the killers love being cucked by the basic attack requirement.

It’s because Billy and Bubba both had weird add on sets that weren’t consistent with the devs’ standard formula (two ultra rare, four very rare, etc. etc.), and it makes sense to tweak their powers at the same time they overhaul their add ons.

Trapper and Wraith could do with some small buffs but aside from being a bit weak, their kits are fairly standard and don’t need changing too much.

We're preparing some changes for auras as we speak. I can't give an ETA just yet, but we're hoping to have them in as soon as possible. The intent was never to significantly change the way auras appear.

Thank you for the update! It’s good to know that there’s something in the works.

Are you sure? I heard nothing about auras during the PTB (which I didn't play this time around.)

Then the patch releases and it's an onslaught of aura threads. I still haven't gotten to play yet so I'm out of the loop in this mess.

There were a few threads, but they were completely drowned out by feedback on the Billy changes (perhaps unsurprisingly).

    For example: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/170002/new-auras-are-bad

  • It was in the PTB. Some people complained about it as well, if I remember correctly.

She can bait crouch and if you stay on that loop you get hit. If i leave that loop she will hit you in 10 seconds

It takes time for her to uncrouch. Loop her, and wait until she crouches and commits to the dash, then run. It will take her time to uncrouch and catch up to you, enough time that you should be able to get to another loop. If you convince her that you’re committed to the loop before leaving she’ll dash around it and have to go through the cooldown before she can chase you again.

  • If you can’t loop a Pig, you need to work on your abilities as survivor my friend.

  • I’m so sad that they removed the crouch-point. Being able to point at my teammates and furiously teabag was the best thing they’ve added to survivor in forever. I just don’t even understand why they’d remove something that had absolutely no effect on gameplay one way or the other but which looked hilarious 😭

  • I only played against two Leatherfaces yesterday and he seemed really strong but fair - that said both times I faced him were on Coldwind maps with strong loops. I got greedy with a pallet and paid for it once, but otherwise I was able to escape him if I pathed smart. I do wonder whether this is because the people playing him were learning him though.

I haven’t had chance to play him yet but I’m excited to give him a try.

I really like the fact that Bubba is intimidating now. Unsafe gens will actually be unsafe against him, and if he loses his TR he becomes a real threat. If he turns out to be overtuned I hope they’ll pull him back a bit, but I think people need a bit of time to learn how to play against him first. People are playing like he’s the old Bubba and he’s definitely not.

  • The overall game performance is much worse for me since the update. I’m getting way more frame drops and general inconsistency.

Yup, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation...

  • Untitled Image

I struggle to see these auras and I have no issues with my sight, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for people who are colourblind. They definitely need to increase the saturation of the new auras at the absolute minimum.

  • I’ve gone from 120 fps before the update, to about 80 now post-patch. Not game breaking or anything but there’s been a noticeable drop in performance for me as well.

  • auras-1.png

Auras on the lower floor of the The Game. Good luck spotting Trapper's traps.

    auras-2.png

They're slightly better on the upper floor at least? Seems like they're pretty affected by the lighting/design of the map.

Yes, the opinions of red rank survivor main streamers who also thought this nerf was bullsh‎it.

Are red rank survivor mains free from bias now? Most of the people I’ve seen who fall into this group also, rather strangely, happen to main Billy when they do play killer. But I’m sure that has absolutely no effect on their opinions.

As shown above I've had teammates telling me in lobby who the killer is and they were correct, this is within the past week. It was naive of them and us to think only one program would do this or one thing would block all cheating programs.

They encrypted the log file with THIS UPDATE. Unless you’ve had someone telling you which killer it is in the last hour, your concerns have already been addressed.

  • So what should justify nerfs in your opinion? If not data, then what? The opinions of streamers, who are likely to be heavily biased? The opinions of red rank players (lol)?

  • The exploit has been fixed by them encrypting the log file in this patch, so they changed them both at exactly the same time. No need for hysteria.

  • @Vhaziri said:

Sorry to say, but the 60 tick servers aren't in this patch.

Would a change like this even be mentioned in the patch notes? They can update the servers any time without requiring a patch, I believe.

Not saying this change is live btw, I haven’t seen anything to suggest it is.

I was playing a match earlier this morning on the PS4. I had just sacrificed this one survivor and he immediately messaged me saying Nice Hacking Enjoy the report. I asked him what he was talking about, as I wasn't hacking. He never responded, so I'm still left confused as to why he thought that.

I was playing as Freddy on the Rotten Fields Map. I was doing the Teenage Rebellion Archive Challenge and had BBQ & Chili on. Not sure how he misinterpreted hacking from any of that. Maybe he was arrogant enough to think a killer couldn't possibly do well on that particular map? Or maybe he was a new player or just an idiot that forgot particular perks existed? Of course, he most likely was just a salty player.

I know I shouldn't be bothered by his accusation or his reporting me, but its been actually bugging me for awhile now. Does anyone know how reports like that are processed? I don't want to get banned because some salty idiot couldn't handle losing a match and put in a fake report. Even if only temporarily, due to the Archive Rift opening tomorrow.

I really wouldn’t worry about it. I filed a report for a hacker with video evidence two weeks ago and the person is still playing the game (last played today apparently). This is someone who admits to hacking on their steam profile and has pages of angry comments about them hacking, for what it’s worth, so they’re not hiding it. If the devs don’t bother with actual cheaters they’re not going to ban you based on one unsubstantiated report.

That’s the Tome. Tomes release on Wednesdays, patches normally release on Tuesdays. If we go by past patterns the mid chapter should be today and the new Tome will be tomorrow.

  • @IMhereRUN said:

Real talk, no b8. So in an unbalanced game heavily favoring survivors, our only option is to re-work killers?? How to re-work? What’s the flavor of the week? Power Guages!

Nurse didn’t need this, just some add-on changes. LF didn’t need this, just a small charge base decrease. Billy didn’t need this, just some add-on tweaks.

While I personally am against the idea, I’m sure Survivor Action Power Guages is next(APG). If we’re nerfing the weaker side, eventually their must be a plan down the road to nerf the other side (certainly a few Devs are smart enough to know this).

So what’s it to be? An APG? Now you have to have enough power in your guage to repair/sabo/heal/cleanse/vault/unhook? For the sake of balance, don’t let a power guage effect pallet drops or flashlight uses. So after unhooking/healing a teammate, now you can’t touch a gen until your meter has refilled. Just did a whole gen solo? Now you can do nothing else but get chased until your meter is refilled.

Do you all think this idea sounds stupid? I sure do. How much you ask? About as much as putting the guages on killers that don’t need them.

Not being sarcastic (entirely anyway), I truly am curious on what the next step is to work towards game balance since we’re currently making it worse, legit question. Please, for the love of ever reaching a 5th year anniversary, DON’T let it be something like APG for survivors.

I’m sorry this is totally pedantic but it’s spelled “gauge”, not “guage”.

As for how they’ll balance the game going forward, I believe the next big thing will be the early game change they mentioned in their anniversary stream. Survivors don’t need a “power gauge” adding because they already have several equivalents - charges on items, breakable pallets, entity window blockers, exhaustion, and hook states.

  • I see a lot of Oni, Huntress, Deathslinger, Nurse and Spirit. I rarely ever see Plague, Hag and Ghostface. Most other killers fall somewhere in the middle. This is on PC, and I’m UK based.

  • And bring back games where the last Blendette would creep around the map, going from locker to locker to try to force you to dc so they don’t die? No thank you. Hatch exists for a reason and it’s fine how it is, the problem is keys.

  • I know this post is about matchmaking, but I have another question. The third image... was “killedbybot9085” a real human player? 🤔

  • What, you mean a killer slowdown perk that buffs the action speed of the one survivor the perk also encourages you to ignore is counter-productive?

Let’s rework Prove Thyself so it also reduces survivor hook timers as well, makes about as much sense.

  • Yeah I agree that a lot of these “basic attack only” perks feel like they have that restriction for really arbitrary reasons.

Infectious Fright, a perk that can end the game in under a minute because of its huge snowball potential: everyone can use it!

Hex: The Third Seal, a niche and somewhat weak perk that can be deleted from the match entirely: no, basic attack only!

  • I see a lot of Spirits dc when the last gen goes and they don’t have any kills. Other than that probably Wraith.

With survivor, it’s usually Neas for me.

  • I disagree with a few of these! I think Enduring and Spirit Fury should be lower. Ruin, Infectious and Sloppy should be higher. PWYF and Monitor should be lower as well.

But hey, it’s all down to preference and play style. :) There sure are a lot of underwhelming perks though.

  • @DragonFireFX said:

by this point i cant run new killers at all cause the lack of perks and not knowing how to play the character. by this point the que should work by character lvl (not the best idea i know) but it would atleast widen the range of people you go againts and leave room for the lower leveled people.

Necroing old threads is against the forum rules and this thread is 2 years old. Please check next time.

  • @WARW0LF said:

if you jump in a locked it takes him out of his power to pull you out so you can deny him the power to snowball

That’s really useful to know, thanks!

  • Thanks for the link but I meant video examples for Oni in particular, I know how to loop in general.

  • Its a trick of the mind because he’s so small. You just have to assume he’s way closer to you than he actually is. Drop pallets early and only take windows if you have plenty of distance.

  • @MonsterInMyMind said:

Who cares? They are only hurting themself by afking just take your points and move on EZ

Nobody plays survivor to sit on gens and leave, the fun is the unpredictability of the matches and the killers you face. Who wants to play any kind of game with an afk opponent? DBD, an FPS, a fighting game, monopoly, whatever, the point of playing it is to actually play the game as intended.

AFKing is bannable as confirmed by the devs.

Loop around walls that would require the Oni to do a 180. It may come as a shock, but the Oni during his power can be looped almost as easily as an m1 killer. The best bet is to go to "thin loops" (you know about the long wall with a window on it? That's a pretty good loop against Oni if you know what your doing).

I don’t know what I’m doing, that’s the problem! Do you have any video examples?

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

I'm an Oni main. What you mentioned about early game is correct and you should be playing safe. When he's in his power, there isn't much you can do, but you can try some things. Long walls and short loops completely counter his power, and can be found on most maps. You might also have to play his mindgames correctly, but the red stain is always visible giving you tons of counterplay. Most killers with set up shouldn't have much counters, because they require so much build up.

Killers with set up shouldn’t have counters? Trapper would like a word. :P

  • @Zaitsev said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/174791/whats-onis-counterplay

Never give him first hit. He starts as a M1 killer whos tall and easy to locate. Once he gets his power, well, long walls, windows and sharp corners help.

Like I said in my first post, I play solo queue so this isn’t really in my control lol.

1 … 34 35 36 37 38 … 50
