"Overperforming" shouldn't encourage nerfs

I know your thick skulled new balance team won't listen, but this is out for the community.

When you see a killer like Billy, Freddy, Oni, Nurse, or even Doc better than most in the red ranks, this is not a reason for you to nerf them, it tells you the weaker ones need buffs.

From a red ranks prospective and not a rank 20's mindset the devs have been following for the past couple of months. Clown is in an awful spot, and so is legio‎n, but they think clown is fine.

And I'm not speaking out of my a‎s‎‎s here, here's a video clip. Thanks Ethan.

So yes, us red rankers with thousands of hours aren't really playing him to his maximum potential with perks and addons. Not that people like otz have made addon tier lists for them or reliable builds multiple times.

Regardless, I don't know where this game is going anymore with the new team, but if a veteran dev is reading this, please help, stop the useless pink and purple addons in new releases. Stop with the Unreliable perks with too many requirements, and fix bugs & balance the game from a red rank's view before introducing new cosmetics.

Cheers

  • Jesus christ, Billy was not fine! In THE SLIGHTEST! He had limitless map pressure and an instadown, both with absolutely no limits.

  • I don't think I ever saw anyone say that Billy didn't need some add on tweaks. He did have some combos that were legitimately too strong.

His basekit was fine and I'm more than a little frustrated that they still nerfed it heavily. And I say this as someone who didn't play as him very much, but loved going against him.

Except pallets. And Windows. And simply dodging. And not beging a meghead.

Wait survivors from yellow are in red rn, ignore what i just said.

  • Its a well known fact right now that the developers don't play their own game and have little insight of the actual going-ons of their game. They've stared themselves blind on data that, when shared with us plebs, have been inaccurate or vague as possible.

"simply dodging" is not an option against good billies.

  • Buff 19 killers...

    Or nerf 1.

    Hard choice.

  • I guess survivors overperforming on gentimes isnt a problem then? Revert the recent generator changes.

  • just like overused perks shouldn't justify a nerf.

Lerrys, Hawkins, The Game aka Gideon, Midwhich, Yamaoka...

Many maps were pretty against Billy, just named a few. And this is just seeing it from the map pressure perspective aka "zoom zoom billy goes vrooom" across the map. There are a lot more maps with loops billy cant curve on.

I think YOU see old billy as not fine because many boosted animals were rocking the busted addons combos. This makes the killer billy look busted. But when looking correctly its just the addons which makes him busted and not his basekit by default.

His instadown that could be countered by looping a simple TL wall, spinning, not waiting at pallets, juking, keeping your distance

They even admitted he has a good amount of counter play from the survivors and when they release him they dive deep into the bulls‎hit, it's like they're saying "He's fine and balanced but hes better than the shi‎tty killers we released"

Exactly, the only change he needed was making the addons NOT stack. But we just had to f‎uck everything up in the process.

  • So what should justify nerfs in your opinion? If not data, then what? The opinions of streamers, who are likely to be heavily biased? The opinions of red rank players (lol)?

Yes, the opinions of red rank survivor main streamers who also thought this nerf was bullsh‎it.

I've seen it happen to many video gameing companies where they make rash decisions for the balancing an pisses the whole community off, in shor BHVR this is not how you save your game this is how you kill it.

  • Here's screenshots if you also think I'm lying about survivor mains thinking the nerf was unjustified

Are red rank survivor mains free from bias now? Most of the people I’ve seen who fall into this group also, rather strangely, happen to main Billy when they do play killer. But I’m sure that has absolutely no effect on their opinions.

Lmao at listening to Ayrun or taking his opinion seriously.

He just wants to show off, and what better way to show off than bullying overpowered but lesser experienced players in your thousands of hours swf.

  • I wonder what overperforming even means to the DEVs, they can barely perform playing as killer anyways.

Not against backrevs, but against a curve it's a good chance to dodge.

All he had was good map pressure. Honestly, if you get hit by Billy's chainsaw mid chase, that's on you. His counter was looping, and only speed and charge add-ons needed to be nerfed.

  • I think they mistake constantly underperforming survivors for overperforming killers. There's a 50% chance a red rank survivor has no idea how to loop a basic jungle gym or killer shack. You see survivors at red ranks escape and somehow end up with 12k points. 12 minute games. It's incredible. There's an implicit bias in the decision making regarding the balancing of the more powerful killers. Instead of saying "You need to perform well to escape", they nerf them.

You get the point, they're doing it from a rank 20 survivor POV.

Billy's add-ons weren't fine*. Spark plug, primer bulb, tuning guide and Thompson's mix all needed to go, they were way too good. But his basekit was absolutely fine. Sorry but if you thought addonless Billy was too good you were making some serious misplays against him and you need to work on your survivor game. This applies to these new Devs too. Just because Billy had an "iNsTa-DoWn WiTh No DrAwBaCkS", doesn't automatically make him too good and in need of nerfing all because some bad survivors couldn't play against him. Addonless Billy wasn't even that great.

  • Overperforming SHOULD encourage nerfs just like underperforming should encourage buffs. DS overperforms (despite BHVR not seeing it), NoEd overperforms, Trapper underperforms, and Moris and keys both overperform.

I would like to see more agility in tweaking the extremes in the game. As long as they tweak numbers they can always revert if things don't work out.

As a killer main I would gladly take the word of a Red Rank survivor over the word of some green and yellow rank scrub that still doesn't know how to loop or look behind them. When it comes to killer balance your cream of the crop are going to be red rank survivors who know the game inside and out. Their opinions matter the most because if their competition is too weak theres no point in playing the game. If rank 1 survivors get to the point where they can all just curb stomp killers and escape on 4 every match....then the game is effectively dogshit, because the killer skill ceiling can't catch up to match the survivors.

They should never be balancing for rank 20 play unless its to solve a learning curve issue like they've done on a few occasions. Or to better address solo queues and minor information given for these survivors. Outside of that though, they should be hard balancing around rank 1's because a rank 1 is more likely to find and use something game breaking, or know how to respond to a powerful survivor perk or killer set up.
