So. Let me guess this right. You sabo a hook. Then he chased you for 2 gens you lost him and he slugging the whole team and youre here posting about it? Personally... your team sucks. I mean 1 or 2 slugs sure...but 3 and a chase? On a non insta down killer?

That’s solo queue for ya. There’s only so much weight one survivor can carry.

  • That’s bad luck. I don’t have Undying unlocked on many killers yet so haven’t been able to use it much, but when I face it as survivor I cleanse the Ruin first quite often and have to cleanse it two or three times.

  • Yeah the 50% requirement was removed, I played against it and can confirm. The 5 seconds of exhaustion isn’t that big of a deal but the fact that it pauses exhaustion recovery while survivors work on gens at any level of progress is pretty big. It was definitely a significant buff.

  • Yeah I’ve noticed the same. I didn’t change my volume but everything seems quieter, and the music seems very loud in comparison to other sound effects.

Then for the most part we agree however even then I feel like it should have been lower priority than many others that as of yet have not been touched, but yes there were quite a few people asking for it to be changed so 3 is better than 1.

I totally agree. Really wish they’d changed some of the more pressing things first.

The only change I had seen asked for was to basically switch tiers 1 and 3, just to remain consistent, I didnt see anyone asking for a limitation on its distance or giving it less accurate information, the reason why tier 1 was better than 3.

That’s why I specifically said that criticising them for changing it is unfair, and not criticising the change itself. I literally said that I didn’t think they’d done a good job with the change. The content of the change is the problem, not the idea of a change in itself.

  • Guys, they changed the perk because people KEPT ASKING them to change it.

I don’t think they did it in the best way (tier 1 is basically garbage tier now), but saying “why change this when they haven’t changed X?” is pretty unfair when they changed Discordance because people repeatedly asked them to change it.

  • I used the previous tier 1 of Pop a lot (I’m still levelling up many of my killers since I switched to PC) and 45 seconds has always been more than enough time for me.

It sucks that my tier 1 killers will now be down to 35 seconds but Pop is still a very viable perk. The nerf didn’t change much imo.

Game mode vs game perks or offerings are not the same thing. Your a swf keeper got it. I am not. My vote is for options in game mode. I personally think dbd would gain more new players if this was an option. No killers would not rein supreme. I do think toxicity would go down a lot. Killers and solo players would see more balance. I truly think the game would garner a bigger player base.

I play almost entirely solo survivor and low tier killers these days and I have no problem with SWF existing, it’s just the abusable stuff (like Object) I have an issue with.

It doesn’t really matter either way, the devs will never add a SWF opt out option in a million years so this entire discussion is sort of pointless.

Call me naive i am more then alright with that. But it should be an option. You may play casual matchs but because you want casual mean others have to endure or be forced to deal with toxic swfs? Or solo survivors have to survive against a killer and fellow teammates? That's not really balanced then is it?

Everyone has to endure toxic and sweaty matches in this game. Do you think anyone enjoys playing against moris, or Insidious campers, or Stridor Spirits? Should there be an opt out for all of those as well? Let’s just show everyone their opponent’s load outs pre-game too, that way I can dodge iri head Huntresses and rusty shackle Hags and Objects and DS/UB gamers and Freddys with slowdown builds.

  • I love this film too and would love a chapter based on it. :)

Absolutely it would be the path of least resistance but also some would elevate their own skills instead of relying on the swf option. Not all killers are op same can be said for survivors. The option should be available! why are so many freaked about this option. Again i am not saying get rid of swfs. Just give all players killer and survivor the choice.

“Why are so many freaked out about this option?”

Because a lot of people play in some form of SWF that is just a regular, casual group and not some anti-killer SWAT team. They enjoy jumping into a match with a couple of friends and dicking around, probably dying more often than they escape, because getting to play with people they like and chatting ######### is fun.

Your suggestion would kill that option. It would either make queue times for SWF insanely long, or they would have to deal with moris, iridescent add ons, and Spirit/Nurse/Freddy every round. There are a lot of killer players that HATE SWF and would just avoid the option entirely or use it as some kind of “extra sweat” mode. If you don’t think this would drive a LOT of survivors away from the game you’re being naive.

For what it’s worth I play solo majority of the time now but I’ve played in 4 man SWFs in the past. One group I played with, I had a terrible survival rate because most of us were boosted and would scream when chased, give each other bad information, and just play like idiots. How can the killer know whether a group is like that, or the 4 man with Object and a Coldwind offering? They can’t so they’ll assume the worst.

  • I would say I have fun against like 90% of SWFs, considering most of the time I can’t even tell whether they are one or not and some of the obvious ones are quite altruistic which is fun for me. I don’t have fun against SWFs that are really desperate to win as fast as possible, like running multiple BNPs or Objects with a Coldwind/Ormond offering, etc. etc.

A SWF stack with flashlights or sabo builds or any of that stuff is pretty fun. Survivors that are just messing around with their friends are fun. Decent SWFs that talk to you like a human being post-game are fun.

  • Why would you assume that the stats are all wrong, rather than assuming that people are just misinterpreting them?

There was absolutely nothing in the previously mentioned stats to suggest that the number of gens repaired and the number of escapes/kills are at all related, or are taken from the same data set. People just assumed.

This is the problem with stats: not the actual numbers but people’s ability to completely misunderstand what they tell you (and what they don’t). The numbers are factual, objectively accurate data. The stats themselves are not the problem.

  • @TheIncredibleBulk said:

Both games you showed was 100% luck. They were just lucky and cleansed the Undying hex first in both games.

So it's not like they're a good team. Luck was on their side.

Just cleanse the Undying totem first 4head. It’s not hard, just git gud at RNG.

  • Getting two in the basement at 5 gens usually only happens against babies so I’d probably leave, since I probably won’t struggle too hard to catch them again. Everyone gets chance to play and get more points.

  • Yep, unless I’m doing a challenge that requires me to kill or the last survivor standing annoyed me. I’d say I give hatch more often than I kill everyone though.

    • Nerf map sizes
    • Buff lower tier killers
    • See how those things affect balance and then go from there with more buffs/nerfs to perks, items, add ons, killer powers, etc. as necessary.

Do freddy or spirit allow using third party programmes that basically replace half informational perks ? No.

You could say spirit can use "good headphones" and win, but that isn't really the same, since listening (aka having good headphones/hearing) is one of core parts of killer's gameplay and is intended to be in game, while voice communication between survivors was never intended and, moreover, contradicts the idea of the game.

The official DBD Discord encourages people to use third party comms (i.e. Discord). Both Xbox and PS4 have in-built party systems. The devs have said, outright, that it isn’t cheating. Keep beating this drum all you like, you’re wrong and you’re not gonna convince the devs that the thing they straight up give the OK to is cheating.

  • If survivors could see the killer pre-game they’d dodge certain killers too, does that mean that playing Spirit or Freddy is cheating? Or that people, if given the opportunity, will cherry pick matches to go against easier opponents?

  • @DaKnight said:

You are not entitled to 3 hooks. I run deliverance in solo Q for that very reason, to make sure I usually get a second chance. If the killer is running a mori? There is literally no reason not to leave you on the hook until 2nd phase, that's what the competitive SWFs do.

And if there’s no mori then leaving your teammate to hit struggle is extremely inefficient and annoying. If they’re running Kindred there’s absolutely no reason for it, you can see exactly what everyone on the team is doing so there’s absolutely no reason not to perform a safe, timely save.

  • The problem isn’t gen speeds, it’s maps. The “lose three gens to your first chase” thing is much more common on large maps or maps with gens that are hard to patrol. If I spawn into Ormond or Mother’s Dwelling or Haddonfield I know I’m probably losing at least two gens early.

Don’t listen to trash talkers, btw. As survivor I’ve died to absolutely awful killers and escaped against some of the best killer players in my region, and as killer I’ve killed some survivors that were far better than me and lost to some real megheads. Bragging about winning in this game is pretty sad, as is trying to insult someone for losing.

  • As obnoxious as people like this can be, especially when you’re new, I’d rather face this kind of team than a squad that races to finish the gens as fast as humanly possible.

You learn a lot from matches like this. I remember being a baby Hag and getting matched with a team that played with me like this - they’d run in, 360 me over and over, and when I finally got a hit they’d run away to Self Care and rinse and repeat. I could never catch them and at the time I didn’t understand why. Now, teams like this make for the the most fun matches for me. :)

I don’t know whether this is bannable, and I’m not sure I agree that it should be. The matchmaking should be improved so that new players don’t have to deal with it though. It does feel bad at the time. Nothing makes you learn survivor tricks faster, though.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Can down people in one hit or mori them.

    Weak.

    I don't understand you people.

How is he outdated either? Was there some massive change to the game? Do pallets reset themselves? Are survivors faster? Does he not do as well in the DBD-kart game mode? This is idiotic.

He’s weak comparatively. Let’s look at Myers vs Oni:

Oni gets his power through normal gameplay, can get it an infinite number of times, and his power gives him not just one shot downs but also very good mobility.

Myers gets his power by literally slowing down and letting survivors loop him more easily, can only get it a finite number of times (and each survivor only has so much stalk available), and his power makes him one shot people and... go through windows a fraction of a second faster.

When people say “outdated” they mean that the whole meta of the game has changed and Myers has been surpassed by newer killers. Myers has a slow start and needs to slug, both of which are easily punished in the current survivor meta. It’s not that he’s become worse, it’s that the game has changed in a way that works against him.

  • People are hypocrites. The same people who complain about DS/UB or Ruin/Undying will run those same exact perks the next time they swap role.

  • I wish they’d release stats, but ones that are less difficult to misinterpret. There’s a lot that goes into escape rate/kill rate, for example, but showing stuff like how many people are typically playing in each rank bracket, how prevalent SWF are, how often moris are used, pick rate per killer, etc. can just be taken at face value. Those would be interesting.

  • Everyone always has so many reasons to disconnect and then you guys all wonder why there’s a penalty.

    • I got camped
    • I got tunnelled
    • I didn’t like the map
    • I didn’t like the killer
    • I didn’t like the perks/items/add ons being used
    • There was lag
    • There was a bug
    • There was a key/mori
    • There was a map offering
    • There was an Object player
    • My Internet is bad and/or died
    • My teammates were annoying
    • I overcommitted to a chase and lost multiple gens

Everyone is like “oh well I ONLY dc when [X]” but you guys don’t realise that if every person has a small list of reasons to disconnect, nobody can finish a damn match normally because everyone’s list is different and there are 5 people in a match, and just one of them dcing ruins it for everyone else.

Maybe if people could just suck it up and play through things that annoy them a bit, the penalty wouldn’t be necessary? Did you consider that? YOU and your constant need to disconnect are the REASON the penalty exists.

And for all the “well the devs don’t address why people dc” responses, there is no way in hell the devs can ever cater the game to every single person’s individual pet peeves. There will ALWAYS be reasons that people want to disconnect. Just suck it up.

  • The ranking system absolutely sucks in this game. It might be one of the worst ranking systems in any game I’ve ever played, actually.

I took a few breaks from DBD and got deranked down to green ranks on killer, and the number of SWF I’m facing that are all red ranks with one token brown rank (with all meta perks, obviously) is pretty stupid. I’m reasonably experienced so it’s not a big deal to me but I feel bad for actual new killer players. And then you have red rank survivors that absolutely should not be there and get everyone killed through their tremendously awful plays.

I really hope they’re working on the MMR and it actually works to match people somewhat realistically, because the system that’s in place now is absolutely godawful.

  • The penalty has only been active again for a day. It’ll take time for people to realise - give it a few days and disconnects will probably be less prevalent again.

  • @CheyeneKL said:

It takes a bit of time to pick up a survivor. It follows that dropping a survivor would also take a bit of time

It’s not like an animation or anything, I had a scenario the other day where I had to repeatedly press R like 5 times before the game registered me dropping the survivor. It’s quite annoying.

  • There are people who will hate on almost every single killer. Nurse, Billy, Wraith, Trapper, Deathslinger, PH, Spirit, Oni, Hag, Legion, Doctor, Leatherface, Freddy, Ghost Face - I’ve seen people complain about all of these killers very recently, and that’s over half the roster.

I think the only killer who you won’t get hate from anyone for playing is Demo, and even then people will just complain about your perks/playstyle instead.

So don’t worry about it. While I am personally in favour of trying to play to let everyone have fun, that has its limit - there’s only so far you can compromise for the sake of strangers before you’re ruining your own enjoyment of the game. As long as you’re not actively trying to ruin anyone’s fun, I think that’s all anyone can reasonably expect of you.

  • He’s not the worst, but compared to similar killers like Oni or Ghost Face he just has too many unnecessary drawbacks.

I really love his power design and I think he could easily be helped with some small tweaks. I imagine they’ll re-visit him before too long though and hopefully give him some small buffs. If they can do for him what they did for Bubba (keeping the spirit of his power the same, just stronger), he’ll be in a much better place.

This is true, though I've also been on survivor side of this where the killer has asked and I tell them I'm solo since I am and that's all I can say for sure, but times where I've also suspected the same that the other three players were SWF at least. As a solo survivor we don't always know that stuff either. Actually... I don't think I've ever seen this question answered with a yes. (That and sometimes when the given answers is "no" the chat itself is so toxic and vitriolic that I don't really think it's the sort of thing they'd admit too anyhow)

Even though this very much happens with people mistaking their own errors for inherent disadvantage, it should still be noted that this itself isn't indicative that SWF games aren't a real problem. As a matter of fact, that confusion is just another consequences from SWF that bleeds into the game elsewhere. Player legitimately cannot tell most of the time where they're defeated by pure skill or also because the other side had access to information and coordination that's straight up impossible in any normal game. Next side effect there being that players have a hell of a time ever actually gauging their own skill level and recognizing where they really screwed up.

It's particularly silly though because it's such a needless side-effect to suffer. If there's one thing I think everyone can agree on it's that they could at the very least disclose SWF at the end of the match with all the other information details they reveal. There just no reasonable excuses for why they wouldn't disclose the information and so many benefits to gain.

That’s why I specified multiple Kindreds - I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone in a SWF run that perk, so if I see someone other than me running it I can say with reasonable confidence that there’s no 3 man in the lobby, and I know for a fact that there’s no 4 man since I’m not in it.

I’m not saying that there are no problems with SWF either, I do think it unbalances the game somewhat. My gripe is that some killer players are so obsessed with the idea of SWF that they blame it for every loss, and can’t admit to themselves that they got beat by a group of solos. It’s a really frustrating problem with the community of DBD, everyone wants a reason why they lost (other than admitting that they made mistakes) so they blame SWF/the map/the other side’s perks/“tunnelling”/teammates/etc.

Sorry for my poor writing. The story is, in one match I played oni, and I played so good that I got three hooked in the basement.

In general, it should be the end, isn't it? However, they are an AT team, and the last one has borrow time, He just ran to me, took a hit and saved one on the hook, then I found that every of them have borrow time, finally all of the three escape from the basement easily, and I only got one left in the basement.

This is not the end, I chased them and hit two down, but both of the two have Decisive Strike, I took double stupid stun and got nothing. In the beginning, I got three in the basement, but finally I lost everything, and got two stun. This is so much fun, isn't it?

Fortunately, it's me, an experienced killer, not a noob. Finally, I still got 4 kill, but I feel so bad. The game should have ended with four generators left, but they were able to drag two with their op perks. I got so tired with this game since then. Is that mean, as a killer, I must take turns hooking them, one by one, I can't hook two or more at the same time, and I also have to play against gen rush? If that, you are force player to play nurse and spirit.

I already uninstalled the game. I won't play dbd until ZZZ nurf borrow time and Decisive Strike!

Sounds like you don’t enjoy the game and uninstalling was the right choice.

    Bye!

  • I’d rather they just remove it entirely rather than replacing it with skill checks. Skill checks aren’t engaging and they don’t demonstrate any actual skill, they’re just an annoying way to force you to pay attention to a naturally uninteresting part of the game. If I’m on the hook, let me sip my coffee in peace.

I know this is gonna come as a shock.

But everything I have seen listed that SWF can do, can also be done by good players even if they are in a Solo Q.

I feel like at point this SWF conversation has reached its limit where we are now just listening to excuses.

Literally everything I do in a SWF team, I do in a solo match. Why? Because if you are a good player you can still coordinate accordingly.

Thank you. It’s ridiculous the number of times I’ve seen killers asking “swf?” or even going off on a rant about coordinated SWF teams when there are like 2 or 3 Kindreds clearly visible in the post-game screen. I had a Deathslinger not long ago who camped and raged about us rushing gens while he camped (“that shows you’re all in a SWF!”) when his aura was clearly visible to everyone because the poor dude on hook had Kindred.

Playing altruistically, or playing with some level of strategy does not mean SWF. If you play enough solo, you learn to play well without comms. You don’t have to be in a pre-made team to understand teamwork. There are a lot of players out there who use SWF as some sort of scapegoat or excuse for every bad game. It’s quite annoying.

My favorite part is the fact that 1k's and 4k's are more common than 2k's or 3k's

This ties up with my experience as well. This game is super snowbally, the winner is typically whoever can start snowballing progress first. 2Ks usually only happen if neither side can really get any momentum going.

  • Kindred and Save the Best for Last. My two favourite perks.

MoM is a perk that should have never been released in its original state. Everyone could see it was broken.

? I didn’t say they were, my comment is about people having no reason to believe the words of a stranger online. Believe it not people lie, are mistaken, misremember, or exaggerate all the time.

  • I’m fine with it. I run it as survivor but only use it in matches where I’m tunnelled off hook, and I rarely have to deal with it as killer.

  • The devs will never be able to stop people from using third party apps to communicate. Even if you restricted Discord from running on their PC at the same time as DBD, for example, how would you stop people from just using it on their phones?

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1674615#Comment_1674615

I don't think it's "blindly believing" when we literally lived through it and heard what was said. At best, the "blindly believing" part would be believing that I'm a veteran to begin with, which I think would be reasonable to question in the majority cases.

A stranger on a forum doesn’t know you, what you’ve lived through, whether you’re a vet, how good your memory is, and whether you have any biases or reasons to lie. They have no reason to believe something just because you say so.

  • Bubba is fine, but I am disappointed that instead of nerfing his ability to face camp, they buffed it. Old Bubba couldn’t chainsaw someone twice through BT but new Bubba can, which seems kind of ridiculous.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1674590#Comment_1674590

That's for Enduring, yes, which starts at 40:00. Now if you could find the one about the DS buff...

It's sad that veterans aren't believed when we lived through these changes, but I guess that's in fashion nowadays.

Why is it sad? People should be sceptical if there’s no proof, a “veteran” saying something doesn’t mean it’s true. People blindly believing everything they’re told is not a good thing.

I mean, I remember the devs saying it too so I believe you, but that doesn’t mean it’s unreasonable for someone to doubt it. People should question more.

  • I see more Kindred than DS these days, but that doesn’t mean that Kindred is a more popular perk than DS overall. It just means that I, personally, see it more. I’m one person, on one platform, in one region, in one particular rank bracket, playing solo which automatically excludes 4 man SWFs from my lobbies when playing survivor. So my experience is far from universal, as is yours.

  • I don’t think DS or NOED need changes, to be honest. The only problem with NOED is face campers, but I’d rather they do something about camping than NOED since the perk isn’t the problem in that scenario. And DS really isn’t that big of a deal in my opinion, the biggest problem there is stacking tons of second chance perks which is a SWF issue.

That said, I like the fact that he’s trying to address common complaints and come up with simple fixes, even if I don’t agree with all of his suggestions. It’s nice to see someone being constructive, and even if I don’t agree with all of his proposed changes, none of them are so crazy that I’d necessarily hate it if they were implemented. Certain other streamers come up with awful balance ideas but Otz’s at least seem fairly reasonable and designed to keep everyone fairly happy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1668925#Comment_1668925

I agree, all the killers mentioned above have a way to tell they're using their power, but NONE indicate when they're pressing m1 or getting stunned or what they ate for breakfast which is why i think his m1 and stun sounds shouldn't be global even if it's just for the sake of horror atmosphere, the roar after the hit is fine since you can already see someone getting injured at the bottom left

Not to disregard your point since this is only one other killer, but... Doesn’t Oni also notify other survivors when he’s stunned? I’ve definitely heard another survivor stun him early in the match before and thought, “oh it’s an Oni”. I’m not sure if it has a radius though.

  • There isn’t a way to do it. The devs can buff and nerf and tweak as much as they want, but if a killer’s power is fundamentally frustrating then the only way they can make people stop hating it is to rework it from the ground up, and they’re clearly not gonna do that.

They nerfed Legion and people still complain about them, because the issue wasn’t whether Legion was strong or not. The issue was that killer powers that boil down to “get an easy hit” are always going to annoy/frustrate survivors, since not getting hit is sort of the point.

The devs nerfed toolboxes and killers still complain about them because the entire premise of how they function is annoying. “An item that lets your opponent win more easily.” Yeah who could dislike that? The only way to stop complaints is to delete them or just rework them so they do something else. Same with some killer powers. Survivors will never be happy with the power of a killer like Spirit because it’s designed to make her very strong and unreadable in a chase, and no nerfs or small changes will fix that core design choice.

  • Often enough that Kindred and DS never leave my build. The last time I played without DS there was no Obsession and the killer didn’t hesitate to tunnel one guy out of the match as fast as possible.

I play red rank and see it quite a lot.

1 … 25 26 27 28 29 … 50
