The longer you wait for a match, the higher the chances of getting those games with weird rank spreads. It’s because the matchmaking algorithm the devs use tries to keep queue times from getting too long, so if you’re sitting in queue for ages the search for a lobby will keep expanding its criteria. So at first it will only look for matches with people of similar ranks, and then as the wait goes on it will keep expanding its rank threshold until you get put into a lobby with rank 20s.
As annoying as it can be, it’s an attempt to stop insanely long queues.
-
I used to play exclusively solo. These days it’s a mix of solo, 2 man and 3 man depending on who’s online.
-
A lot of people don’t really understand perks. I had a red rank team mate pull me off the hook in front of a cloaked Wraith and then complain about BT not working post-game, I had to explain how the perk works.
I wouldn’t worry about getting reported, you should be fine.
-
As survivor I’ve played against Otz three times. Scorpionz and Dowsey a couple of times. Another Fog Whisperer that I won’t name who was a complete ass, couldn’t catch me until the very end of the match so he left me to bleed out while everyone else was dead.
I’ve only gone against smaller survivor streamers that I know of. It’s always fun watching things back from their perspective though. :D
-
I feel like Blight is the best and most balanced killer they’ve made in a long time.
Fun, difficult to master, strong but has counterplay, forces interesting interactions and mindgames on both sides, good add ons, interesting lore, creepy appearance and sound design, good cosmetics. I can’t think of many ways they could improve him really, except for QoL changes. But in terms of well-rounded design, he’s almost perfect.
-
It can be fun once in a while, but as it’s absolutely no fun for the people who genuinely should be there to be punching bags for smurfs and derankers, I just stay at high ranks.
-
It’s not toxic, it’s just mildly annoying when some random person I don’t know does it.
-
I don’t mind challenges like this as long as they’re not those “in a single match” ones.
Stunning the killer 4 times? I can throw on that challenge and I’ll get there eventually. Stunning the killer 4 times in one match? I’m either gonna have to wait for a farming killer, or just throw the match trying to get it.

I mean no seriously, you have the immediate ability to close the chat box and forever deny insults. Period.
If you can't handle a few bad words in a game how you survive real life I have no clue.
Do you often get death threats in real life? I don’t and I wouldn’t tolerate it there either.
People in real life get knocked out for insulting the wrong person. Threatening to ######### someone to their face can get you assaulted or visited by the police. That’s why these losers feel the need to hurl insults in video games, they don’t have the backbone to say anything irl where they might have to deal with repercussions for what they say.

Peanits has proven, repeatedly, that they read reports.
Can you be more specific? Proven how?
-
Yeah I’m really curious about what kind of punishment people get for chat harassment. I’ve had several people call me all kinds of horrible, hateful slurs lately and it’s frustrating that you never know if the devs even read the report, nevermind if they did anything about it.
-
I haven’t seen any mention of it from any official sources so I assumed they’d scrapped the idea.
-
Sometimes I can hear the barest crackle of moving grass, or see just one pixel of a cosmetic and be on the survivor in no time. Other times I walk right past them when they’re barely trying to hide. It depends on the day. :)
-
Yes, these hacks exist. Is it likely that that was how the killer found you? No, it’s much more probable that they just saw or heard something you didn’t realise, but anyone who tells you that those cheats don’t exist in this game is wrong.
-
People will always find something to ######### about, however you play. If they don’t dislike the killer you chose they dislike your perks, or your playstyle, or your add ons, and on and on.
Same goes for survivors, too. I’ve had killer players berate me for perks, items, bodyblocking to help my teammates, doing gens, not doing gens, doing totems, not doing totems, trying to help a camped guy, not trying to help a camped guy, and on and on and on.
You will never be able to play in a way that satisfies the other side because anything you use to win, they will inevitably complain about. So just play to have fun, whatever that means to you. As long as you’re not cheating or going out of your way to grief someone then you’re good.

If there's bad connection, it's YOUR connection with the servers that are bad. The servers themselves are fine.
I don’t think you can really say this with any certainty. Multiple killers have had latency issues with their powers on dedicated servers, so it’s not like if this issue exists it would be unprecedented.

I haven't played today but if they did actually boost the killer's FOV that is absolutely fantastic news, seriously the best change for killers in a long time, assuming it's true of course.
I wouldn’t get too excited, they’ll almost certainly bug fix it in a future update. :/

i just had a game that perfectly answers your question.
we played with a hardcamping bubba.
by the time the game came to an end, a total of 4 generators was repaired - i repaired 4 of them.
my entire team sat around the hook like a group of idiots, waiting for bubba to leave - and if he just turned his back for a second, BAM! hookfarm - without BT of course.
thats the second game in a row now where i was the only player doing (or actually finishing) a generator - and i did 4 gens in both games.
ffs solo is such a pain.
Lol, I feel this pain. I just had a game against a camping Legion with Ruin, and I saw a guy leave his 90% complete gen to rush the hook even though he had clearly seen the killer camp every previous hook, Ruin was still up, and he was injured. I can’t even begin to imagine why he thought that was the right play, but that’s random teammates for you.
-
Because Haddonfield is currently bugged so that there are impassable bushes in the gaps in fences, making many of the fences insanely strong window loops that cannot be mindgamed.
-
Lots of people have jobs, school, family responsibilities, etc. to deal with in the morning and get free time in the evening. So people who have the day free and log in early aren’t likely to have their friends online to play with, so they’ll be more likely to play killer. Whereas when everyone jumps on in the evenings they play with their friends in a SWF.

So to understand this I'm getting punished for having a better connection than the killer? Damn might as well use my hotspot. Bad connection is the new connection.
You want low ping as survivor to minimise the delay between yourself and the server. Unfortunately, killers do benefit from having higher ping currently.

@Tisyaboi said:
Wait what? Survivors can go through them??
No, they can’t, OP is incorrect.
-
I mean, if they all had flashlights it would be silly for you to pick them up, so you just played around their items by slugging. Not that toxic imo.
If you encounter people like this again who try to blind you when you’re not locked in an animation, you can avoid the beam by looking up or down and track them through the sound of their footsteps or cries of pain. They’ll stop trying to do it once they realise you know how to avoid it.

May a humble consoler ask what that filter thingy is?
It’s called Nvidia Freestyle and basically you can mess with the visual look of the game: brightness, contrast, colour balance, sharpness, and so on. You can use it to make your game super bright and clear so that even Blendettes shine like a beacon. Personally I use it to make the game less blurry and a bit brighter so I’m not squinting in the basement floor of The Game.
It’s not that different from messing around with your monitor settings.
-
Because stupidly, it can actually be quite efficient. Each state is only 60 seconds. If it would have taken you longer than 60 seconds to find, chase, down and hook someone else, it’s a better use of your time to just camp the first guy into second state.
Then there’s the fact that most survivor teams are not 4 man SWFs, so you’ll almost always have a survivor coming to the hook for the save not knowing that you’re camping, which allows you to keep them off a gen as well without actually doing anything. Then a third guy may think “why is nobody saving?” and run to the hook, meaning that you managed to get the survivors down to one guy on a gen by doing absolutely nothing at all.
-
Spending bloodpoints, spending a penny, making a drink, eating a snack, doing a quick errand... queue times are totally unpredictable, sometimes I think I’ll have time to take the washing out of the dryer and run it upstairs but then I get into a lobby in a few seconds.

@xenotimebong @TheWarNung Thanks for the tips, i didn't know you could block him from opening it, i'll be sure to do that next time, also bringing franklins seems overkill since i don't like swapping my build for someone using a key, i'd rather dodge the lobby and still keep my build, just my opinion. Thanks anyways.
No problem! You have to stand in one specific spot - if you look down at the hatch you’ll see a latch with a keyhole, stand on that.
-
It has kind of a weird trajectory and dedicated servers made it buggy, so just practice, really. You could always go into a KYF match with a friend and practice trying to hit them.
-
You can stand on the hatch so that the survivor can’t use their key. This would have required you anticipating him having Unbreakable, of course. The chances of this exact scenario happening to you again are slim, but next time, stand on the hatch while you wait out the DS timer and you’re basically guaranteed the kill.
-
Insidious. It has absolutely no use outside of camping, so it’s basically a perk that... encourages camping. Wow.
I feel like a lot of the perks others have listed could be buffed or changed slightly and see improvements, but the very concept of Insidious is flawed and encourages gameplay that people hate. It serves no other function. I wish they’d rework it or even just delete it so it would stop cluttering up my bloodwebs.

That actually has something to do with the algorithm the devs designed to generate tiles. Every tile has a certain strength number associated with it, and all maps add up to the same number. The issue with this algorithm is that it does not take into account adjacent tiles, and the metric it uses to determine the strength of a tile is flawed. So you get absolutely broken chains of strong tiles that survivors can easily run killers for 5 gens on.
Yeah, I know, it just seems especially bad on that map. Other corn maps don’t have the same issue in my experience, even if they have issues of their own. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single Fractured Cowshed variation with bad RNG for survivors.
-
Fractured Cowshed. Shack into safe pallet into long wall jungle gym into safe pallet into another long wall jungle gym... uuughhhh. If I get one kill on this map I’m happy. The survivors have to really ######### up to lose on it. And if I get this map as survivor I know it’s a win if the killer chases me, and the chases aren’t even fun since you don’t need to entertain mindgames, just chain tiles and you’re almost completely safe.
-
Well, killers can climb on the rocks and hit survivors on the other side of dropped pallets, so I wouldn’t say it’s a survivor-sided bug personally.
-
Yeah it’s quite disgusting. I’ve played on this map a few times as survivor lately (not killer, thankfully) and some of the loops that now exist are extremely strong and completely unmindgameable if the survivor has eyes and is awake. They really need to patch it ASAP, this map was unbalanced enough already.
-
Self Care isn’t inherently a bad perk, it just has negative stigma because a lot of people who use it will use it at the worst possible times and Self Care above all else. If you have good game sense it’s fine.
-
Not in a million years.

Or just be alert on generators when you see someone running in the nearby tiles, which was about half of the reveals I got on him in Solo.
Sounds like it was a pretty inexperienced Ghost Face, to be honest.

The drawback of Night Shroud is that you're entire power (The crouching albeit fun isn't particularly useful by itself) can be stopped by a Survivor for iirc 30 seconds base, which means Faceghost becomes a M1 Killer that has nothing to help him if he didn't get to pop a mark off before being revealed.
Had a match where I revealed a Faceghost like 7 times when he was stalking someone else, he barely got to actually successfully down people with marks because I denied him so many opportunities so he had to M1 instead while generators were getting done.
Yeah if you have one guy running around revealing him whenever he goes into Shroud, it’s not a problem. That’s not really a thing that happens to me in solo queue, lol.
-
He’s just really ######### annoying. Breaking him out is pointless because they all run recovery add ons, and breaking him out is also difficult a lot of the time, but it’s also necessary because a killer having no TR and no red stain with an all black outfit is reasonably strong, especially if you’re not on comms with your team. Tier 1 Myers gets no red stain and no TR but he’s slow, loud and much more visible than GF, plus once he gets out of tier 1 he can’t go back. GF has no such drawbacks (not that I’m saying he should, just that letting him stay cloaked and not trying to break him out is a bad idea).
Plus, most GF’s play hit and run playstyle which is not that fun for me personally. YMMV. I also dislike scratched mirror Myers for the same reason.
-
I feel kind of bad because people have been pulling some crazy stunts to get this thing, and I just grabbed the code from one of Otz’s streams and happened to be quick enough to get it.

Legion's original release was hated because he could tunnel survivors with 0 counterplay. It was stab, moon walk while following blood, Frenzy, stab, repeat, profit.
And small stun? How much is a "small stun"? Let's say it's 3 seconds... that's already possible with current Legion (Cold Dirt + Joey's Mixtape), and that's not OP. Any amount of stun that's longer than 2 seconds is more than enough to get enough distance in a loop to be safe.
And if you're telling me that in the time it took for you to get stabbed, run further with the speed boost, him to get close again, and then cancel his power, you're still in the open, then you pretty much asked to die.
But to clarify, I don't mind the stun itself, it's that Legion has nothing to mitigate it. I personally believe Legion's stun should be shortened for every survivor he lands a hit on during that Frenzy (with his add-ons being reworked accordingly). It rewards Legion for doing well, maintains his counterplay of survivors splitting up, and allows his add-ons to be put towards other aspects of his power (Movement Speed, killer insinct, vault speed, whatever you can think of)
I’m saying that the devs probably don’t want scenarios where a Legion chases someone, Frenzy hits them, uses the rest of his Frenzy to catch up, cancels his power and quickly hits them again.
I’m not really talking about whether the current stun duration is good or not, just why it’s fairly long. And I’m guessing the existence of the add ons is part of the reason it’s as long as it is. If they reduced the stun duration every Legion would run those add ons and their Frenzy would become a chase power, which is clearly not what the devs want it to be now.
-
Because there’s really not much you can do in a chase against him? Windows are unsafe, many pallets are unsafe, he’s stealthy, he can hit you from range, the struggle against the chain gives the illusion that there’s something you can do to escape but unless the DS ######### up there isn’t, he’s exceptionally good at camping. If you can’t see why survivor players would hate a killer like that then I don’t really know what to tell you.
-
Not fun: Oni, sweaty Nurse, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Stridor Spirit
Fun: Hag, Pig, Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Myers, Doc, Huntress, non-camping Leatherface, Demogorgon, Blight who isn’t using Ruin/Undying
Meh (not fun but not terrible): Clown, Legion, Freddy, Plague, Ghost Face
-
Hag’s strongest combo is probably Rusty Shackles and Dried Cicada, but it’s pretty dirty so expect to get hate for it.
-
@GrimReaperJr1232 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718828#Comment_1718828
Last part isn't entirely correct. Nurse has a 4 second stun if she blinks twice... and misses. You know why? Bad plays are punished. So why does Legion get the brutal 4 second stun no matter how he plays?
Because if the stun were too short, you could frenzy towards a survivor, cancel it with a small stun and attack.
The stun feels bad, you’re not wrong, but the nature of Legion’s power kind of makes it necessary. Their power gets survivors injured very easily and it can’t be avoided with pallets, windows or looping, and it discourages healing. If you make Legion able to easily injure AND easily down with their power then people would hate it, as proven by their initial release.
-
I had a similar issue playing Demo yesterday, halfway through the match I lost the ability to place portals though I could still Shred. I know this sometimes happens to Hag as well. I wonder if they’re related bugs somehow?
-
Undying just does too much IMO. Resetting hexes is already a strong effect, but the aura reading is kind of ridiculous, especially on indoor maps. You get frequent survivor wallhacks and the survivors have to be really lucky to find Undying early on a map like Hawkins.
I think keeping the aura reading on hexes but removing it for dull totems would be fair. It keeps the perk strong and useful for keeping hexes up, but tones it down a little so it’s not quite as oppressive. Plus it encourages survivors to “do bones” which is what people are always saying they want, right?

My mistake - but judging by the perks, it is a new deathslinger. He also may just not be good at shooters. Either way - this is a post about a killer who brought an ivory mori. Like, honestly, big deal, lol
Well it kind of is a big deal when you’re the person who brought BPS and you get tunnel mori’d out of the game with less than 2000 bloodpoints. At that point whether it’s an Ivory is sort of irrelevant.

I like Myers but I’d rather play as almost anyone else tbh.

Most of his fans and viewers are underage. Not that they can't play DBD, but should they be a target audience?
Why not? There are tons of kids playing DBD and buying skins already so it obviously has some appeal for kids. Not all of Ninja’s viewers are underage either, and even people who don’t religiously watch him might hear about him being on this stream. I don’t know how many viewers he gets but he has 16 million followers on twitch. That’s massive for DBD.
