  • So far I've had a lot of fun as survivor with a very solid team and a competent killer, it just felt right. I love the change but i already know that i'll miss the occasional game where there's a potato survivor that you could take advantage of-

  • I LOVE the change, at least survivor side, witch are the only 2 games i've played so far. I swear i've never been in a solo team with more competent survivors and the killer was good as hell too. It really felt good, i actually felt out of place because i consider myself kind of a potato of a survivor in chases.

I have a specific question, how the SBMM works?

There's no explanation from someone in the DBD team what information the MMR takes to go higher or lower in ELO.

I think they intentionally obfuscate that information so people don't abuse the system to farm higher or lower MMR. But it will get datamined in some way or another I have no doubt.

You were not around when Freddy, Pig and Bubba released it seems?

Wait they did? Oh no. Please make a creative killer, don't just copy an existing one with all the possibilities you have T_T

  • Please no 2 licenced killers in a row

So screw me and the others who can't run the game if its not on low? 'kay

??? Even if you just read the title I don't understand how you have reached that conclusion. I swear people on the internet just want to get mad.

  • I don't get why people hate it so much, i like it both on killer and surv side. Haven't tried it with the open door though but i can't imagine it being that much different.

  • I'll never get why people want licenced killers so bad with all the creativity options that killers designed from the ground offer, plus they don't cost 10 bucks to buy.

  • Stop the Meg hate, some of us have souls!

  • She pretty much is, nobody uses ambush that much, only the stealth occasionally. On average i think i get 1 or 2 valuable ambushes in a game wich is kind of a sad power.

  • People say to not be greedy but i would contradict it, you need to be a BIT greedy against him since he eats pallets very easy specially after you get used to the duration of chainsaw. And allways remember that jungle gyms and any windows in general will be your friend. Be very careful not to be in any deadzone close to him, i would run away as fast as I heard his terror radious if I was in a deadzone. Oh and lockers, they can save you if you are in a bad spot and eventually you will learn the timing to when to get out (after a lot of failures).

You are exaggerating. It’s still bad because there’s so many strong structures chained together and the gens are in the most predictable places for survivor but as killer it’s almost impossible to 3-gen.

Really? I actually think getting a 3 gen is not that hard specially with how easy it is to defend the gens in the corn. I don't know maybe it was the killers that i've played this map as were strong there or maybe the survivors i went against were not that good but i swear it felt so much better to play this map than it used to.

  • My theory is that most people don't like playing against trapper, and not many people play him either, and if you buffed him (he needs it) that would make more harm than good in terms of enjoyment. I personally don't mind going against trapper occasionally, it adds a unique way to play against.

When I play Killer and Survivors do that, it doesn't bother me. I really think that, for players that it bothers, that it's actually good for you because it teaches you to have a thicker skin. I honestly think that BHVR should give Killers and Survivors taunts just to help players develop a thicker skin when playing games.

Maybe I'm an old man, but even when I was young, this kind of stuff never bothered me and I'm seriously worried for the next generations because they are way-way over-sensitive about this stuff.

Racism is bad. Bigotry is bad. Someone butt-dancing in front of you is absolutely nothing.

Maybe I am an easily triggered zoomer but i don't buy that the older generations had thicker skin in stuff like that. Me and my older brother used to play football (soccer) and both us used to get into both verbal and physical confrontations over matches over petty stuff, it was just normal in his and my generation. I remember every other football match that i watched my brother play ended up in a stupid fight.

I understand that you used to tbag and get tbagged in unreal tournament or whatever shooter you used to play and found it funny, i did too when i played call of duty and honestly I don't think its something bad. It's just something about DBD makes it feel more personal and sometimes gets under my skin.

I just wanted to know why people did this in this game but maybe I'm just overthinking it and should try to just embrace it.

  • IMO i want them to keep them trying until it works, I think more balanced matchmakings could be good if they tackle the problems that could come from it.

I do a decent job at not letting behavior during the trial bother me. Sure there are some exceptions that have triggered me but I don't let it anymore. What does irritate/bother me is post-game behavior. The trial is over move on. Why the need to send a message to the killer crying like a #########. Look I have been tinkering with Blight lately and I am not very good with him imo. Sure I have had my good games but not enough to have confidence in a trial. Got Father's Chapel last night with Blight (I don't like this map with any killer) but really did not like it with Blight. I kept getting stuck or sliding off of everything. I got behind quick because of this but got a down in the shack with basement in there. As I was coming out of the shack I turned around and seen Felix starting to go down so I followed and was able to get a grab and now there 2 down there. I decided to not go far as there was a gen in shack and one right outside so used this to my advantage since I felt I was behind. Feng (not in basement yet) had a key so I had that in the back of my head as well. The two remaining never came and once these two died the game ended (key). Idk I thought it was the best play for me at the time but still got messages from the 2 xbox players who just happened to be the 2 in the basement. Blame me sure I put you down there, but I didn't leave you down there. You got hooked and left behind. Oh I get it forgot I am supposed to allow unhooks and heals under the hook. Sorry I was tired and not thinking straight I will try to do better next time...../s

Yeah over time in game toxicity stops bothering you (as much at least) and end up ignoring it, I just wanted to make an exercise to figure out why people do that. I agree that insulting in end game chat is much worse and indefensible.

Leaving aside discussions of whether certain things are toxic and whether one side is more toxic than the other or vice versa, I honestly think it’s just people taunting when they feel confident that they’ll win, because they probably don’t win a lot.

I know people don’t like to have this discussion (and I know it’s not a stat that is indicative of balance, so please nobody try to start that discussion because it’s irrelevant to my point) but the kill rate for most killers is like 70%. Which means that most survivors are dying far more often than they’re surviving. Obviously it will depend on personal ability, rank, region, solo vs SWF, perks, items, etc. etc. etc. But the average survivor player who is just playing the game as casual entertainment is not that great at the game and they probably die a lot.

So when they see a mirror Myers on Rotten Fields who can’t catch anyone, they think “oh great, an easy win!” And they taunt and revel in their assumed victory. Probably even more so if they were camped in the last game or whatever and feel mad about it.

Just an assumption on my part but I don’t think it’s anything more nefarious than that. And it’s why I do my best not to take BM personally, or assume it says anything about me (or the people doing it). They’re not emotionless psychopaths that are trying to kill your spirit and bully you to tears, they’re probably just showing off, bragging, or venting steam because it’s a video game and it’s not personal, they’re teabagging the big scary monster you’re playing and not you as a person. As long as they’re not being gross in end game chat then it’s really not a big deal, IMO.

I think you are spot on. I guess most survivors (and killers also) that do that is due to past frustrations in their games or maybe bad having a bad day. I wanted to make an analogy with people that beat their wifes or hurt their pets but i didn't know how to make it without making people interpret that i think that toxic people in a videogame are woman beaters lol, you've explained it so much better.

  • @SonicOffline said:

What do you define as toxic? The definition seems to have been shifting over the past couple years to mean "Something I don't like."

Imo toxic survivor behavior is when they're actively screwing with you, or themselves, like moonwalking during chases or repeatedly bodyblocking their teammates into unfavorable situations.

I would consider being toxic sandbagging teammates and BM stuff when killer has no way to counter it like tbagging at open hatch or exit gates when everyone is already safe. I understand the strategy behind clicking and tbagging while in chase to try to make the killer mad and make mistakes but the other ones I said is like, ok dude congrats.

Queues are already bad when there's an imbalance between survivors and killers, and turning off crossplay (which would cut the player pool down about as much as having two different play modes would) already noticeably increases queue times.

We already have a casual mode, it's called Custom Game.

But that's not true at all, when the player pool is high enough it doesn't matter if there are more people in the queue, it only matters the ratio of killer/survivor. An average of 50K players were playing at once this month, i highly doubt halving it to 25K would make queue issues IF the ratio keeps being the same, wich is what i would like to test.

It's an asymmetrical 1v4 game and the queue is already bad at some regions or some points in the day. There are much more survivors than killers and the pool is always problematic for some people... splitting the community more by adding a ranked matchmaking will only cause problems because most people ( a good amount) will try "casual" so they don't get sweaty teams while others will go ranked because of having challenging games. It will be a nightmare in terms of wait time

I would buy that if the amount of players was low, but it is one of the most steam played games i highly doubt it would make queues bad and i don't think a higher proportion of survivors would want to go ranked in comparison to killers. The main reason i'd like those 2 queues is to be able to still play meme build without having to lose mmr in the ranked mode. Maybe you are right but i hope they at least try it if more people want it.

  • I do but I want to have a Ranked mode with specific rules (like max 2 same perks per group, map bans, unique survivors, etc) and a casual mode with the same rules we have now.

    "They can't all be... sociopaths."

My reading comprehension is just fine. You're the one implying that any of them are sociopaths, which does not mean the same thing as "They are not sociopaths." Maybe while you're growing that thicker skin you can work on your English before the next time you call other peoples' English into question. Good luck.

5% in the comment vs 50% in the title, wich means the worst interpretation of my comment would be that 10% out of those survivors are sociopaths. You just interpret the message the way you want for your internet points, or just don't get it at all. My point was literally to counter that i do not buy the aregument that they are necessarily sociopaths as I've heard many times. But that's ok keep being like this online, who cares we are all anonnymous am I right?

  • @AGM said:

Did you really just equate repetitive button presses in a video game to sociopathy? If your skin is really that thin then you don't belong on the internet. They were probably bored. You chose to run a build that turns you into a newborn kitten in a slasher video game.

If you had at least a 1st grade reading comprehension level you'd understand that I explicitly said that they are not sociopaths.

  • I don't think anyone cares much about brightness, since it's something that you can control even with hardware and it's not that gamechanging as stretch screen or something even worse. Most people control brightness with the monitor or the graphics card, i see no problem, the only thing it sucks is that you can see everything better in low quality than in ultra.

  • They increased the likelyhood to be in The Game so I doubt they will ever admit any mistake, they just spit in our face lmao.

  • I've kept track of all the steam accounts i've seen blatant cheats in game, only one of them was banned and I doubt it had anything to do with my report. I wouldn't waste much time if i were you.

  • Everyone with the same skin and sometimes key + 3 medkits or toolboxes. The ammount of time i've been unironically accused of "tunneling" people that share skin is ridiculous.

  • Self care is great, massively underrated just because it's common among players that can't play the game, it's an A tier perk for sure. It saves a lot of time if used properly. And before people say "jUsT uSe a MeDkiT" yeah of course medkits are better, if they were a perk it would be the best perk in the game, but they are not.

  • I have encountered multiple blatant hackers and reported them over these time and most of them have they steam profile still clean so don't waste your time, it will get ignored unless the automatic anticheat detects them.

  • Paying for pixels I see, not even an NFT.

  • Victor doesn't even give chase points for survivor and i think for killer either. After all this time and all the complains they decided it's stil not a priority.

  • I wish I could go against huntress so often, she is very fun to loop.

  • I don't like using NoED, but i love NoED existing in the game because it's the only reason survivors need to do dull totems. It would be a big buff to survivors in general if they removed NoED.

  • Am I the only want that does not give a ######### about Jason being in the game? What an uninteresting killer, and not only that being a Licenced one won't even have interesting skins and will be behind a paywall.

  • They could start by not making maps like the Game where the only type of chase you get is holding w and throwing pallets, it's boring for both parties. And it seems that holding w is the way Behaviour is going for, so the game seems doomed.

Is it so hard to add loops that can have mindgames and are not totally unsafe pallets or god pallets? Just add loops with some window, some semi-safe pallet... They just make maps where the best strategy is to bring spinechill and start running and hiding the moment it lits.

  • Just remember, when beig chased by Deathslinger do the Safety Dance and everything will be ok.

  • Probably myers. Even his addons are incredibly overrated.

  • The problem is that i feel that it's much easier to pip as killer than survivor just by having chases even if you have a 4 man escape many times you get brutal in red even in red ranks. I remember getting to red ranks my second week of the game as bubba without having gen defense or knowing that if i press RMB again with the chainsaw i can extend it. The pip system should have another rank above red because there are people with 50 hours and people with 5000 sharing lobby.

  • But that's not allways the case. One thing that both survivors and killers enjoy is chases. Small-medium maps with a variety of loops and a lot of time for chasing nonstop i feel it's fun for both parties. What i really think isn't fun for both killer and survivor is maps like The Game where it is a hold W simulator and drop pallet and it feels like it's what the devs are going for, just hold w and no mindgame loops like the old maps. The new Resident Evil map looks designed by someone that has never played DBD. Its gigantic and the loops except maybe 2 big rooms are ridiculous.

I really believe fun for both parties is not necessarily exclusive.

  • Yeah everytime i see one of those videos with people dominating as trickster, it's allways default skins and in a deadzone. What makes me wonder, bubba in this situation would've been even better, and he is 115 and doesn't have to reload or rely on ultimate hability.

If you hear the Trickster lullaby (40m) and you are in a deadzone just press W and go to high walls loop. That's it.

  • Lol yes i do need slowdown with blight. I'm happy that you are very good with him and don't need them but i'm mediocre at best, so unless i get better and for some reason i want to stop running them i'll keep them.

  • Gen regression on kicked gens at double the speed (same as if it had ruin) and more emotes for survivors to communicate, and able to do some emotes from hook on first stage.

  • They went veeeery conservative with the changes to the point it barely feels like a buff. I'm not still sure if it's better or worse than before but it surely feels so bad having to commit to one survivor with your daggers or they are gone in 5 seconds. And i feel it loses a lot of tempo reloading the only 44 daggers, i don't get that nerf. Some people making some soy face on youtube thumbnails saying that trickster is op might have influenced on that change.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268935/getting-robbed-of-my-pallet-hits

This is pretty much the survivor's equivalent of getting through windows, yet you're still getting from what seems like thin air.

Welcome to the latency club, survivors been here for quite a while, but we'll make room for the killers and we'll share our horror stories around the campfire!

You mean when killers try to grab from a window but the game decides to cancel the animation and let him leave? Yeah i think we've been in that club together for a long time.

  • I played Amnesia and I still don't know if the monster had some special hability. I guess the only thing was that if you looked at him your sanity decreased. It could have an effect that if you look at him you begin breathing heavily and making more noise but idk...

  • NOED is one of those perks that buff killer even if they don't use it because they condition the survivors thinking "should i do totems in case of noed?". If they nerf noed they won't only nerf noed users, they will also nerf killers in general because survivors won't have any reason to waste time breaking dull totems. Same way as DS, BT, UB, DH, deception... are perks that buff survivors even if they don't use them because the killer has to adapt just in case they have them.

  • I just hope they start working on DBD2 for once and leave this engine coded by lab monkeys then add a casual and competitive ladder.

  • I only used it when i was trying insidious bubba when i was deranking. Even in its more natural state it felt useless.
