"Why don't give survivors 3 extra perk slots?"
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
I assume the game already does this, if not, well... Yeah, it is a common sense thing that most games with stacks implement.
Yeah most games do this, but also most games have public MMR or ranks related to MMR so i have my doubts they implemented it. They said they calculate the group MMR by their average for the matchmaking, they didn't mention a multiplicative for swfs, with the old system they used to count the highest pipped survivor.

I dont think that SWF is such a big problem. It only becomes a problem at a Level where most players are not even at. But they like to parrot some Content Creators (who are also not at this level).
I have gone against 4 man SWFs multiple times and most of the time I win. And most Killers will probably win against 4 man SWFs as well, I cannot really imagine that a Survivor Main like myself plays Killer better than those who call themselves Killer Main.
All it would do is that it would punish the casual SWFs who are playing with friends.
The only problematic SWFs are very, very high-skilled players who play together. But those are so rare, it is unlikely that someone goes against them multiple times. And people who are saying they go against them constantly are just lying. In 6400 hours I had 1 tournament team in total. Speaks for itself how rare those are.
But instead of focussing how to improve, Killers just look for excuses why they did not get a 4K.
Listen, I understand you are invested playing with your friends, i also like playing survivor with my friends. But one thing i immediately do when i stop playing solo is remove Kindred and every other info perk that i would have been using. It's disingenuous to say that SWF even in the lowest levels doesn't give you an advantage that could be easily countered by matching you by slightly better killers proportional to the advantage gained. All of this can Behaviour can now calculate and tune the numbers thanks to the new system.
One common example of average SWF giving an advantage over solo: Survivor is hooked, 1 is on chase with the killer and 2 are on different gens. "Hey I'm going for the hook, you keep on that gen!". Same situation in solo 2 people go for the save and about 30 secs of gen progress are wasted.
Instead of focusing how to improve, SWF just look for excuses to get easier matches.

You cannot really say that you never win against 4 man SWFs, or? Do you always lose? I bet, you win the majority of games against those 4 man SWFs.
And when you already win against them - what is the point of making them weaker? Do you want even more wins? Less chances for those players?
Most SWFs are just friends playing together, talking ######### to each other and having a good time. It is not the case that SWF-players get up in the morning and think "Oh boy, time to bully some Killers today!"
I thought you were in favor of SBMM because it solves the matchmaking issues and makes for much fairer games! Why would all of the sudden be against having fairer games when it comes to SWF? 🤔 This would only reduce the undeniable communication advantage SWF have to make everyone happy. You can still play with friends, and killers won't mind SWF anymore because the advantage they have would be solved by the matchmaking.

I know the feeling. I swear anyone who thinks about changing swf doesn't realise the problems it creates.
To the OP I also want to add something that I always say. Your just punishing the bad swf teams of this game. Just because 4 new players choose to play the game together doesn't mean they should be getting paired with people who have had plenty of time to learn the game.
There's a system called SBMM in place that already solves this problem. I understand this argument with the old matchmaking system but now? This bad SWF team that you are talking about would get matched against a bad killer and they would have an advantage because they are a team, put a slight increase in their average MMR and they get put against a slightly better killer and their advantage gets reduced.
You just want easy games, admit it.

@GoodBoyKaru said:
How many times do I have to scream into the void that making any changes to SWF will just harm the game and solos and killers are the ones that have to adjusted, priority to solo.
It doesn't matter if you adjust the SBMM rating of them by a certain percent because if they aren't finding matches it'll open it up to the lower SBMM ratings again, making queue times longer. This is also working entirely under the assumption that SBMM functions which, considering I have yet to find a single killer game, means the game thinks I'm an absolute god or it doesn't work very well.
If you are such a god at the game this would actually help you because SWFs would be closer to your MMR and you would have quicker matches ;)
-
I got smash hit while using spirit fury and it still worked. What other way can you get stunned by the pallet and break it anyways? With Blight you don't really stun him if he breaks it, he just uses his power to break it.

Just play normally. I just play and my matches are decent. I dont care about the Rating at all.
And keeping it secret - honestly, it is better that way, at least when I look at the Forums. Sometimes people dismiss other players opinions just because of Ranks. "You are not Rank 1"... "erm, I am."
And same thing would happen with MMR. "Your MMR is only 1970, but mine is 2017, you have no idea what you are talking about!".
Yeah because the game should be designed around not hurting the feelings of people in a forum for nerds.
-
I have asked this question multiple times and the best they can say is: "iT woUlD GeT aBuSeD" as if people don't intentionally derank already, and did before with the pip system.
-
It has very strong piles, it is impossible to track scratchmarks in the weeds and has few hooks. Totems are sometimes godlike and sometimes they spawn next to a survivor in the most obvious spot.
-
I agree, if people don't want to see end game chat they can disable it. The filter is so ridiculous and it just seems to me as an excuse to save money on moderation.
-
Pinhead is AT LEAST at the same level as Freddy and I still don't play him very well. He has decent map pressure, slowdown, chase... He is good overall.
-
I guess I'm a troll then
-
Lol no thanks, i don't want full immersive m1 builds with prove and a bunch of sneaking perks to be viable to farm bloodpoints, that's the last thing this game needs.

You want your name on the leaderboards....... What does that have to do in a casual party game? If YOU have no incentive to win, is that the game fault or your fault? You can still win, you will feel that the mmr is up once you start playing against good players.
There is absolutely no point in knowing your mmr other than bragging rights same as the old rank system, what do you get for playing against really good players? Nothing, I understand if this game was as competitive as LoL, apex, R6S, but it isn't.
Just because it is the same argument doesn't mean it's wrong, you just see it different.
It is wrong, because it's not an argument at all. You've showed no proof of what you said yet you insist of gatekeeping me and a lot of other players that just want to know our rank based on MMR, it's that simple. We want to have a feeling of progression, we want a badge that says "according to the system you are better than that other guy". I don't want to have competitive matchmaking system without the competitive rewards, i will end up quitting the game in the long run, i'll just come back from time to time to play with some friends, that's it.

People would abuse knowing what to do and what not to do.
Example: if I want easier matches then I would throw matches just to get lower mmr and stomp on newer players, or if I'm extremely competitive then I would completely sweat to get higher mmr.
Bhvr not telling us what determines mmr we have to play normally and just wait to see what happens.
Like I give hatch most of the time people dc or if I down them right before they get hatch, does that mean that the survivors will be screwed and might play against someone sweatier than me? Or will that make my mmr stay the same? Since we don't know we can just continue playing how we did before they introduced sbmm.
This might not make sense if I may say.
Alright the same argument that is parroted that is based on thin air. You want me to not be able to be rewarded with a rank based on MMR because some people might intentionally throw the game. I guess with the old pip system nobody deranked willingly to get matched against worse players. I guess the whole deranking for getting adept with some killers was fake, nobody did that.
It's not as if people were already throwing matches to lower their MMR. Right now i have no incentive to win the game, show me my MMR and I will tryhard as hard as I can to get to the top leaderboard. I'm sorry but i don't buy the argument that somehow if you show MMR people will throw intentionally but if you don't people will try to win. If anything what I'm experiencing is the exact opposite, I've never seen so many killers intentionally throwing the game.
-
@OldHunterLight said:
I don't think knowing your mmr is a good thing.
Hell I don't even know my mmr in other games that I play and I'm happy like that.
Can you explain why? I keep getting this response but nobody seems to offer a good reason why you want to prevent people knowing their MMR.

If you like this kind of progression, deinstall DbD and go play CoD. easy or?

I dont really know if you could really count a win ratio when it is mainly due to a bad Ranking System putting Potatoes up at the Top. Players who were at Rank 1 should have been the best players in the game, and we both know that this was not the case at all.
Well duh, of course the winstreaks were thanks to killing potatoes, the same way Call of Duty winstreaks work and why people love CoD, because they see progression, the better they get at the shooter the better they can "pwn some noobs". This is progression like it or not. I'm happy with SBMM for DBD but make the ranks public.

@Aven_Fallen said:
"seeing all those killers staring at a wall the whole match, it's actually ridiculous."
I would say it is sad. Once they stop to have easy games because the average Survivor is really not good at the game, Killers give up. Shows really who those people are who complain about the game on a daily basis.
And well, there was no incentive to rank up before either. You play, you reach Rank 1, get no Reward for it and thats it.
Now, when the Grades get reset, you at least have SOME Reward (not saying it is really good) and you have more to do, since all get set back to the lowest Grade.
Yes you had an incentive. It was getting better win ratio. Now you can't have that.
-
I just am, sorry. Game must be balanced around me.
-
Not sure if it counts as "cheating" because i think it's even worse than that. A guy had a script with the flashlight that made it click so fast that the sound was stacking together and i had to remove my headphones or suffer permanent ear damage, i could even hear it with my headphones off and they insulate sound very well. I think i have more chances of sending him to jail than getting him banned from the game.
-
@TGB said:
He doesn't mean cracks in walls. He's saying being blinded in your eardrums and it works. Literally don't even see the Survivor or the flashlight on your screen. And maybe even BARELY see the flashlight's beam of light itself.
Gotta read posts better. Don't skim & respond. Pet peeve of mine...
Please don't call the manager I apologize

If the wall has the tiniest crack they can still blind you

Get max points in a few categories in less time: Distressing + Beast of Prey + BBQ. That's my farming build and it's wonderful. As a fourth perk, I like running Lightborn (used to be Whispers, back before dedicated servers went live.)
I don't like Thrill of the Hunt, survivors often get more points cleansing it than I do running it. Beast of Prey all the way.
I wouldn't use whispers since it actually helps you and will make your MMR go up
-
@Seraphor said:
You may as well throw in Thrill of the Hunt and Distressing as well then.
Actually true, although a bit pointless since hunter and deviousness are allways maxed, i'ts just sometimes brutality and usually sacrifice that miss bp

I believe they're doing it so players can't figure out how to manipulate their MMR to bully less skilled players. Some people believe it's because they haven't actually made a new system, and it's all a placebo.
This such a terrible excuse, people that want to lower their MMR will do no matter what. They just have to DC, AFK, sandbag... And they already did before with the old pip system.

I mean when you reach the higher levels...the way it is set up if you get a high sbmm you will only get high sbmm killers correct?
You really think you will see anything other than nurse, blight, and spirit...maybe a deathslinger or huntress possibly
This is how it should work and how I hope it ends up working, but they calculate MMR differently between killers. For example the last MMR test there were problems because Billy was getting an MMR much higher than he should so ultra sweaty 4 man squads were facing against baby Billys.
-
Probably the most boring killer to play as and one of the worst to play against.
-
Trickster would just laugh as he is slowly desmembered by Clown
-
Have you seen only those 3 killers already? I consider myself a decent survivor and I haven't noticed a change in variety. Maybe it's too early? Or maybe my MMR is not as high as I think, but i can't know since MMR is private...

Every time there's a new killer they are very long

The opposite. People would intentionally drop so they stomp people.
I love how all the people against showing MMR just mimic the same arguments without any proof and that don't make any sense. What stops people to "drop so they stomp people" already? Why seeing your MMR would make any difference? People are acting as if people didn't intentionally lose games in the pip system to go against easier players already.

Normally i'd say thats tinfoil hat conspiracy talk. but CSGO doesn't show the MMR ranking and yet everybody enjoys it and says it works well. BHVR is absolutely NOT making an MMR that good, and it would be very unsurprising if the MMR was hidden because they aren't confident in how stable it is.
Dude, CSGO shows a rank related to MMR. We don't even have that I don't know how you can even try to make a comparison between the 2.

You don't need to know the number to tell you that. What you do during a match will show that. It wasn't an accurate way of telling a how good a player was before. We would see red ranks who's actual skill level during matches was l than green rank players. The way to tell how your doing is by what you do in a match. And it isn't just one aspect.
Generators, rescues, chases, totems, healing and so forth all play a combined role for survivors. If a survivor escapes the match however didn't help with generators, didn't rescue any of the other survivors, didn't cleanse any totems or do anything except escape that would show they are not progressing. On the other hand if they helped repair 3 generators, rescued 2 survivors from the hook however didn't escape the match the were progressing.
Try to imagine how long would all competitive games last if there was only ranked mode and you couldn't tell your rank. Now try to explain me why this doesn't apply to DBD.
And about your point, I know when i've "won" or "lost" a match, i just want to know how much better I am compared to the rest of players. They introduced a competitive matchmaking but without the competitive rewards.
-
@Seraphor said:
Because it's meant to be a hidden mechanic in the background. You shouldn't need to worry about what level of players you're being matched with, if it works as intended. It's meant to be hidden so players can't reverse engineer it and game the system and break it.
Just imagine how much better this game would be if you weren't constantly consumed with matchmaking issues, if you didn't write off every loss as "oh I was obviously paired with better survivors". If the outcome of the match was actually determined by YOU, instead of being predetermined by faulty matchmaking putting you up against opponents who either don't stand a chance against you or whom you don't stand a chance against.
Yeah i don't care how you cope about your losses, i just want to know my MMR. Want to know if im progressing or not.
-
I agree, if anything with the little I played him it seems very decent, a killer with decent chase, map pressure and slowdown, reminds me a little bit of Freddy. We have to wait before crying for nerfs or buffs.
-
I have a decent PC and i get framedrops every time a survivor vaults. Every other patch they ######### up performance somehow.
-
Ranks only mean how many hours you have played this month, not related to MMR in any way.
-
I'd have higher expectations if the game was developed in some third world country with 0 quality control and known for slave labour to be quite honest.
-
BHRVR clearly doesn't like fun, instead of fixin pallets making them not stun from 10 miles and remove the animation while you get validated they make fun ways to use them not work anymore
-
I'm really just concerned about the last 3 points. I don't care what the win condition is, it's probably a mix of all the presence you had in the game since they said that they won't only count escapes/kills. Pretty sure it will be similar to the pip system but i bet people will end up figuring out the exact impact of the actions you do have in MMR.
About the visible ranking, I agree, there's no valid reason why not to tell us how well we are doing. We need to know our progression in the game or it will get stale. The "end game" reason to play without SBMM was getting big winstreaks and just ######### around some games. Now that MMR is introduced we need another end game reason, and being able to see your MMR grow seems like a good motivation to keep playing, except they won't for some unexplainable reason.
I agree with the third point completly, but we will have to wait to see how the system works. Although i bet it will kill the variety, luckily i don't think i have that high MMR as survivor to only face the same 3 killers.
About the 4th one, does it really matter? For example if you are a Demogorgon and allways play without perks and another Demogorgon with the same MMR as you uses the most busted addons and perks to get to the same point as you the result of the match is supposed to be similar on average so it is supposed to be fair for survivors that you share MMR. I understand the point that it sucks but i don't see how to fix it if some sort of perk/item/addon ban system is not introduced before the match starts.
-
Maybe the survivor got downed when 3 gens were done and last 2 were probably half way, pig doing that at least secures her a kill. Maps like the Game can be miserable for Pig if survivors are decent. Pig can be a decent killer but she really needs to get that early down to get the pressure going, if the survivors keep smashing pallets nonstop you will have a bad time.
-
@Clowning said:
Ruin. Even if it's cleansed early on and so long as you manage to chase a Survivor or two off a gen, you're getting roughly the same or even greater value on average than from Pop. Except when Ruin isn't cleansed, it's a free win, that's just something Pop can't even compete with, as much as I love and often use the perk.
I'd say Hag with Corrupt/Pop might be the exception, since you can force a three gen easier in some cases.
I would actually say that ruin is even better on hag since you can trap the totem.
-
Undying. The ruin pop combo is so much more useful because if you get in a map that's easy to deal with totems they will find both no matter what, if you are in a map where totems are hard to find you will still get a lot of value from ruin and can potentially last the whole match anyways.
NOED. It allways feels cheap to me getting kills when all gens popped camping a hook to secure a kill and hopefully get the rescuers doesn't feel like I've actually earned them. NOED is like that but on steroids. It's a good but boring perk and i would prefer running a perk that gives me pressure mid game.
DS. I usually act as if i had DS anyways and the killer tend to ignore me so I get value from this perk even if i don't run it, why would I waste a perk slot for that?
