  • The same could be said for a survivor trying to get their adept but being camped or tunneled out of the game early.

I understand that adept challenges are difficult, ESPECIALLY for killer (Compared to survivor), but you just gotta keep trying. You'll get it eventually.

  • I mean, how is BHVR supposed to regulate that?

  • I'd say probably the worst that's ever happened to me and this happened two different times, was where I'm the last survivor alive and the killer acts like they're going to give me the hatch but doesn't.

I'm talking, picks you up and drops you somewhat near it but picks you up before you reach it and repeats this over and over again and then they finally close the hatch and then they let EGC kill me when I did literally nothing toxic at all throughout the entire match. One time it was a console player so I couldn't ask him after the match why they did that but the other time it was a pc player and I asked them and they were like "All survivors are toxic" yada yada.

Like, good god get a life

  • I sometimes run Technician when I want to do a gen monkey build.

It's surprisingly effective, especially on gens that are up or down a floor from the killer. They'll basically have no idea if someone is working on those gens unless they manually go and check on them.

I don't see anything wrong with being that one person who is never found all match, doing all the gens in the background but eventually you do need to help take the pressure off of your teammates or be ready to spring into action for saves. All in all I think technician is a cool off-meta perk to have fun with. Do NOT bank on it to save you against impossible skill cheek builds. While it will stop gens from exploding, it regresses repair progress by an insane amount but yeah, not notifying the killer from a missed skill check is actually pretty cool and has saved me a few times.

  • If you're playing a killer with built-in slowdown you don't need as many gen defense perks. Still, gen defense will be vital to almost any killer, even the best.

Pop - Killers who can get fast, reliable downs / if you're just a good killer player and are confident in your abilities you can't go wrong with this one.

Ruin - More inconsistent but can be potentially very powerful. Shines on killers who can apply a lot of pressure. May need to run a build focused around keeping it up so like, Undying and Thrill of the Hunt etc. Or even an all Hex build with things like Haunted Grounds and or Retribution.

Corrupt Intervention - Absolutely amazing on setup killers like Hag and Trapper who greatly appreciate some borrowed time at the beginning of the match. All killers can utilize Corrupt however as it will push survivors into you from the gens they spawn in on.

While gen defense is important I would also stress the importance of information perks like Tinkerer, Discordance and or Surveillance to help you with managing the gens and personally I encourage trying to mix up your build so it isn't 100% Meta perks. There are some underrated killer perks that are really great when used properly and help counter certain things just don't forget to have fun while trying to become better because when you try too hard it can make the game less enjoyable, at least ive noticed that from my experience.

  • I like to run it on Plague since infected survivors are broken so the obsessions' huge healing bonus is rendered mostly null and void.

Aside from her I can't think of anyone else that Dying Light is really good on.

  • People aren't even asking for huge nerfs to Spirit, we just want SOME indicator that she's begun phasing I don't think that's asking too much or would destroy her.

Also some of her add ons are broken, I won't be argued with. I don't think they should be gutted nor do I think they're as bad as Iridescent Head but small number changes to certain ones to bring them more in line and make certain ones make more sense would be the only actual nerf I'd argue for her because she's already an SS tier killer why does she need S tier add ons?

I believe there is a way to implement changes so that Spirit remains well in S tier but average survivors have more of a chance to make actual plays against her. I don't want her gutted at all she's literally one of my personal favorite killers lol

  • LOL I don't blame u i'm one of the problematic few who like him uwu

  • Asking for scientific reasons but is there art of Ghostface like this? LOL

  • I'll always stand by my idea of reworking NOED to replace the Exposed status effect with mori power. Keep the haste effect or maybe replace that with something different like vision on all survivors for a certain amount of time (So it would be like Rancor on everyone, minus Exposed). Would this be really evil and gross potentially? Yes but no one would be escaping "death" by your hand.

Okay yes, some people would probably just rush the exit gates and leave their downed teammate behind but people usually already do that against current NOED or they risk trying to save and all get killed anyways.

  • I would also add that Dead Hard is great and all but absolutely not my preferred exhaustion perk. Yes the invincibility frames from it are great but keep in mind that killers who can down you in one hit will render Dead Hard useless.

I much prefer Lithe or Sprint Burst think, to be fair you really can't go wrong with any exhaustion perk. I even like Balanced Landing from time to time but that one requires you to really play around elevated areas and it can be rather predictable to killers.

-Channel her fountains remotely without having to walk to them.

-Improve her vomits interaction with latency

Plague is currently extremely weak and suffers from survivors having too much control of her power.

Pretty much these. As a Plague main it's really disheartening when you use Vile or Corrupt Purge and it clearly connects and the survivor even screams like they've been hit but they take no damage/don't get infected.

The channeling fountains idea I love too. Walking a mile to the outskirts of the map to get Corrupt just isn't ways feasible without gens popping lol

  • @TAG said:

I'm going to suggest something crazy as a Pig main:

Survivors who reach maximum sickness have a time limit before they just DIE unless they heal.

Make them HAVE to use the fountains.

You can even nerf the red bile to make up for that. And also let them cleanse faster while at a fountain.

I had a similar idea but deep wounds instead so that if they don't cleanse they go into the dying state.

Unless that's what you mean by die. I'm thinking straight-up DIE to death though like what reverse bear traps do since you said Pig main.

  • Iron will 100%

It isn't just for stealth, it can straight-up let you slip out of a chase without even trying

  • I love the concept. I think there's definitely room for future perks like this even if they aren't as big as Repressed Alliance making you summon the freaking Entity.

Ideas could be more simple like I was thinking someone in tune with the paranormal could have a sense for detecting totems and it would be a totem hunting perk similar to Small Game but reward the player somehow for cleansing totems they find somehow.

Or a perk that allows them to reveal the killers aura to themselves but at a great cost / obviously not be as abusable as OoO

  • @Saltjar34 said:

Just put the indicator in Small Game. Problem solved, they now have to waste a perk slot to know.

That or the basement candle idea from one of the comments in this thread

I like both these ideas but specifically buffing Small Game.

Or even if they made a new perk in the future that incentivizes totem hunting and cleansing. I'm kinda surprised Elodie didn't get a perk like that tbh.

Also yes I know detective's hunch exists but that is mostly effective with a map and it's overkill to bring an item and perk dedicated to totem hunting plus if you get caught out and camped it's all for nothing lol

So, taking inspiration from streamers and the like, i fell in love with Save The Best For Last. Whilst using it, i obviously would try to avoid hitting the obsession, and instead work around that with pig dashes, demo lunges etc. But i then realised, i could just ignore them entirely

So i started to do what i call "Reverse Tunneling". I would ignore a survivor the entire match, only hitting them or hooking them if it was super convenient, like they jump into a locker in my face, or run into my chainsaw. But i would actively not enter chases with them, or respond if they clicked flashlights at me and all that jazz

This works alot better than i thought, even without STBFL. See, when there's one survivor left, it doesnt matter if its their 1st hook or their 3rd, they'll still die, and getting 10 hooks is alot easier than 12. I dont have to play around there DS, or there unbreakable, or care if they run iron will, have a medkit, can bench 400lbs etc.

Most of the time, I'll pick the obsession to ignore (if i have STBFL), or if i dont have that, it'll probably be that survivor who wants to be chased, following me with a flashlight. Theyre my favorites to ignore, since i know they won't be on a generator, and playing around flashlight saves is pretty easy

Is this the most wholesome of strats, probably not, but its also not that big of a dick move. You can't really get angry that a killer isn't trying to kill you, and im not advocating to tunnel the other 3 survivor (which, if you juggle them, isn't really tunneling is it). The only downside to the strat, sometimes that 4th guy gets the hatch, but big whoop, i stopped running BBQ on half my killers anyways, and its still a win in my book

I do recommend you guys try this out, its been working wonders for me, and its fixed my mindset of "i have to get a 4k or im trash". Plus, you can see that alot of survivors won't try to take aggro, even if they haven't been hooked and the others are a meathook away from entity feed

For maximum evil run this strategy with Rancor.

It's actually pretty disgusting when you just straight up mori the obsession at the end of the match after not going for them at ALL

  • It would be extremely helpful to solo queue survivors. Swf I don't think would affect much since they're usually already coordinated enough to deal with totems.

My real problem with this whole thread is killers don't want totem counter because.. It would incentivize survivors doing totems too well? Lol

I thought you all wanted survivors doing side objectives?

  • I'm glad he got buffed but let's leave it at that. I see people still wanting more buffs and I'm kind of shocked it's like BHVR gives a little and then killers want everything like calm down people lol

These Wraith changes are so incredibly good I'm hoping they'll do something similar for Trapper base kit.

  • As far as I could see, there was absolutely no traces of LGBTQ+ anything in the new survivor and killers back stories.

    So no.

As someone who was hoping for that I'm actually completely fine with this chapter rollout so far because I know how to keep my expectations in check and I just really love the new survivor and killer regardless!

  • The issue with stealth vs Spirit is that a good Spirit will leave you and go after someone else as soon as they realize you're playing that way.

Also sometimes stealth won't even work if it's Stridor Spirit / they pay close attention to grass / footstep audio cues.

And again, stealth isn't really buying the team as much time as an actual, dedicated chase would and that's one of the reasons Spirit is so problematic is because in a chase there just isn't much counter play especially once you're injured.

Would giving Spirit a more obvious cue that she is beginning to phase walk really be such a big nerf that she would plummet? I personally don't think so

  • I appreciate all of the thoughtfulness behind this post. I feel you on many points as someone who also adores Spirit and loves to play as her. I am by no means good at her or killer in general. It's just not my forte unfortunately unless I play Hag (I do really well as her / that kind of play style moreso).

I agree that it does take a certain level of skill to learn how to track properly and I've never been one to say Spirit is brain dead easy no skill etc.

Personally if they ever "nerf" her it should be tweaking the numbers of certain add ons because a few of hers don't make any sense and need to be toned down just a smidge. Again, nothing game breaking I just think it's silly for an S rank killer to have insane add ons.

Aside from all that I would love it if there was a definite way of knowing WHEN she starts phasing. For now the only real way to know is if you have Spine Chill equipped and it stops lighting up (Her husk doesn't count as looking at you).

I know flashlights can make the husk disappear if it's left behind but not everyone wants to bring flashlights nor should that be a "spirit counter" lol

Anyways, I'm not sure why everyone gets all up in arms though when very minor changes like these are pitched forward. She's an insanely powerful killer and I'm pretty sure that changes like these wouldn't even drop her down from S tier they'd just make sense ffs.

  • I'd say Oppression. It's sort of like a manual Ruin (I KNOW the regression is nowhere near as much as Ruin) that can never be cleansed away thankfully but has a lengthy cooldown that I think needs to be reduced a bit.

Surge I honestly don't know much about but what I do know is that it's usually only going to affect one generator, maybe more if you're lucky with an indoor map / down that survivor in between two gens but idk.

For more consistent value and synergy with Pop I say Oppression all the way since you'll be popping gens anyways with, well Pop lol

Surge feels like more potential reward but I highly doubt you'll be getting it. I like perks that give me more control over their activation and that's what Pop Oppression does.

  • I mean yeah lol

Freddy being able to traverse the way he can with his teleport to gens already makes him blow Ghostface out of the water. Any killer with exceptional mobility is usually VERY good.

This isn't to say Ghostface is a bad killer though, I'd say GF is possibly the best stealth killer although Pig has really good built-in slowdowns because of her bear traps.

Idk, at the end of the day it's all up to how people play these characters though. I've seen scary good Ghostfaces where it just feels hopeless. Freddy it's more like, anyone can do reasonably well with him because his kit is so bloated it's just kinda boring.

  • @Claudette_Baguette said:

Trickster is in no situation better than huntress. Huntress only has to hit you one time and she gets a health state, Trickster has to hit you 8 times with his knives which takes a long time. He still takes long to wind up his knives and they can be evaded by running tightly just like hatchets.

If a survivor is far away his knives are useless because you can't hit them precisely because of unnecessary recoil, if a survivor is close you are much better off hitting them with a m1, it's way faster and more efficient. The only way his knives can be used is in an OPEN loop without obstacles, and still it takes a lot of time to get someone down, and they can evade, run to a safe loop and avoid line of sight.

Hatchets are just straight up better, in loops and in open field. I can't think of a single situation where Trickster is better.

People say "he is more forgiving" but is he really? In my opinion having so many knives doesn't make him easier to play because he has to hit you 8 times to injure and another 8 times to down you which takes just way longer than a hatchet hit.

Also, Deathslinger can end a chase MUCH quicker, and he has a built in crosshair if he is aiming. On loops you can spear them on an open gap and hit them afterwards, if you try to loop a Trickster, you have to have a really open loop, otherwise it takes forever to hit 8 times, and even then it takes way longer than Huntress or Deathslinger. You also get built in slowdown with deep wounds and you only need one little gap somewhere to injure someone, good luck hitting someone through a tiny gap 8 times as Trickster.

Furthermore, if you DON'T commit to a chase as Trickster you lose all your progress you made with your knives because they lose knives over time passively, they don't even have to pull them out themselves and waste time that way. It just happens normally. Spreading pressure is INSANELY HARD on him because of that.

    Bcuz he's hotter

    noun

    1. an intense feeling of fear, shock, or disgust. ~ looked up on google

The Trickster - A killer who happens to be a K-pop star with clothes that are "too flashy" who brutally and mercilessly murdered many of his adoring fans or other innocent people and incorporated their screams into his music.

So you have this guy who lures people in with his looks and then shows his true self to people. The qualities of his true self so to speak include being:

    • Evil
    • Creepy (some people may think this)
    • Rivals even the Doctor's sadistic nature (my money's on doc)
    • Has no remorse
    • Psychopathic
    • Manipulative
    • Narcissitic
    • Disturbing
    • Disgusting (also depends on who you ask, in his lore he was dissecting people alive and gutting their bodies.)
    • Just a vile human being really

Just to name a few. Now let's compare that to someone like Doctor. His qualities consist of:

    • Complete and total sadist (his mother would be proud)
    • Highly intelligent
    • Cunning
    • Psychopathic
    • Insane
    • Callous
    • Evil
    • Just a madman really

I think it is safe to say that "The Trickster" is horrifying and would fit in DBD. I think he fits right in, but others say the opposite.

So, just a reminder, this game literally has a character dress up as a Christmas elf, but no one complained about that being out of place (among other things): I present to you the dwelf. Compact, nervous, cowardly, and would probably fall over from being blown by a simple breeze or gust of wind.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X8AB55MHFSJ8/image.png

Pretty sure this game stops being scary after about a week of playing it, it just becomes intense rather than scary.

And finally, about the lack of a map for this chapter. I know why BHVR didn't give us a new map, but I really think they should have made an exception for this guy because I think it would help people see how he fits in the game (that background looks absolutely gorgeous and would love to see a map like that). I am pretty sure he will get one in the future though.

I know I've already said this in other threads but he gives me mega Sangwoo from Killing Stalking vibes and it's literally all the same things.

By outward appearances they're handsome devils but behind the scenes they're terrifying serial killers who commit atrocities.

The only thing I personally cannot STAND about Trickster is his default color scheme. The yellow coat and striped red pants are just too awkward lol it makes me think of McDonald's lol

I DO like his bright yellow eyes though. Yellow irises creep me out, they're very reptilian/eerie to me and I feel like they up his creep factor since otherwise he IS just incredibly beautiful.

  • I mean, it's his stage name so they just carried it over as his killer title.

  • Iron Will helps counter Spirit and Calm Spirit messes with Doctor, better nerf those too if we're following this logic.

I'm joking btw. Spine Chill, Iron Will and Calm Spirit are all fine. Well actually Iron Will needs a change where it doesn't completely negate survivor breathing sound effects (It does currently which is a bit unfair).

  • @Zixology said:

The only counter I can think of is Detective's Hunch, Iron Will, Calm Spirit, and Wake Up on a Blendette. And even then, you're still likely #########. What are people supposed to do against this??

    Keys lol

  • He gives me big Sangwoo vibes and honestly yeah, your average every day human can be just as terrifying as any monster.

I think because the more someone looks normal and human the less you expect them to actually be psychotic and a serial killer which is exactly what Trickster nails.

All that being said I don't like his default color scheme at all though. Idk that bright yellow coat just makes me puke LOL I'm sure he'll have nice recolors and skins though.

  • The only thing I don't really like about him is his color scheme but he seems pretty cool otherwise.

He's full of little details that are just great and I can't get over them lol

Really amazing killer perks too. Smash Hit is great but the other survivor perks seem pretty underwhelming whereas all of Tricksters seem really good.

I can't wait to read both characters full back stories but I can't seem to find them anywhere lol

  • I'd rather something be done about camping and tunneling tbh.

Slugging is high risk high reward for killers and there's a lot of really good perks for dealing with slugging.

  • BHVR wants to make money I think that's the reason they do this chapter stuff the way they do.

Personally I would love it if they reworked really awful perks on both sides and made a plethora of QoL changes / put through things like the key rework and upcoming add on passes for certain killers and focused on fixing as many bug issues in a big like, fix update rather than forcing out a new chapter with a killer + survivor.

Like don't get me wrong, I know that new chapters are vitally important for the health of the game because they keep people interested. Without new content the content creators and streamers kind of lose interest as evidenced by the awkward and painful time in between chapters. I just really wish they'd prioritize making the game less of a buggy mess though like The Binding of Kin was a DISASTER and BHVR probably wants everyone to forget about how bad it was on rollout but I'm here to say don't forget.

We need CLEAN rollouts for new chapters and a game that functions. I'm not saying it should be perfect but extreme game breaking bugs and huge problems that somehow slip past development are kind of unacceptable.

  • Oh yeah I forgot they want hatch straight up removed in some cases lol

The list really can go on.

  • I hate when you go up against a killer with really good built in slowdown, a perfect example would be a Forever Freddy and they also run NOED and it's just like literally why.

The whole match is painful and those of us who barely make it to the end get punished by NOED too like damn ######### lol

But this is more a problem with certain killers having slow down built into their kit / good pressure whereas a lot of other killers don't.

But yeah, NOED with no crazy gen defense sounds fine. In general I only really think NOED is bad in solo queue because my god, those poor solo queue survivors. Like when I play with my friends we can almost always handle NOED okay. I honestly really like being a map runner and cleansing totems.

  • Okay but for real though, even with the upcoming DS nerf, OoO rework (If that goes through) and the key rework whenever that happens, I have seen killers around here asking for all kinds of other nerfs on survivors it's honestly a little ridiculous.

    Some examples:

    Dead hard

    Sprint burst

    Exhaustion in general

    Unbreakable

    Borrowed Time

    Gen repair time (Slow down)

    Gen regression time (Increase)

Also I've seen some killers unhappy with the fact that the upcoming DS nerf doesn't deactivate it upon entering a locker lol like give me a break.

I know that for the most part both sides want everything their way but my god the killers around here lately just want survivors to be helpless and guaranteed to be camped / tunneled out early it's kind of sad to see.

I will be very happy when Freddy and iridescent head gets reworked / nerfed but idk. I hardly even play the game anymore since everyone is hateful and rly gross.

  • The real problem with NOED is that it absolutely is unhealthy and unbalanced vs solo queue teams which already have it rough.

Swfs have a much higher chance of coordinating to cleanse all totems or leave 1 behind for someone to go and cleanse when NOED procs after last gen. Solo queue? Lol I wouldn't expect even red rank solo queue survivors to coordinate that well tbh.

I don't want noed nerfed into uselessness but I also think it's unfair in its current form because what's stopping an already very good Killer player from running it and abusing its power?

I'm sorry but I can't get over people downplaying its power, it isn't just insta downs it's also a nifty haste effect which is highly underrated. If a killer has already secured one or two kills by mid to late game NOED is just like overkill.

Idk, like when I play killer I just don't feel comfortable using it it feels dirty lol but if other killers think it's fair and balanced and should be used then go off I guess. I'll admit I play way more survivor than I do killer but I try to meet in the middle for both sides and I honestly do think it could do with some sort of reworking where it keeps a lot of its power though

  • I had a killer tell me one time that it was inherently toxic for me to bring a flashlight as a survivor.

I'm not even that good at the game and was just using flashlights as a little switch up from my usual medkits / toolboxes lol.

I guess in general, when a killer labels toolboxes and flashlights as toxic items that are somehow in the same vein as keys just really makes me go "Uh.. What?" Lol

I agree 100% I don't want them to be taken as a token, and I'm part of the lgbt community myself so personally I don't see anything wrong with a killer being lgbt

Same here! And me either personally I just know some people will come up with reasons that there shouldn't be LGBT representation on either side lol

  • Yes but that could be perceived in a very negative way by the LGBTQIA+ crowd if handled incorrectly.

Personally I'm down for an LGBT survivor or killer I just want it to feel right and not forced. I think everyone shares this same sentiment though.

And others just want the game to function properly which I'm here for too LOL

I certainly hope this chapter has a smoother rollout than Binding of Kin did.

  • I hope they get unique chase music at the very least

  • Èlodie has entered the chat

I am honestly scared of using addons on a killer like clown and Plague because I am afraid I will get too used to them.

But anyway, they are definitely one of his strongest addons like the cigar box.

I have yet to try a few of his other addons though.

The gloves that change the arc of his gloves though just make the arc more straight in case anyone is wondering, I myself don't think it is that great and I don't like it.

I feel this pretty hard as a Plague main it feels so awful going from using amazing add ons to none lol

I still don't understand why bear hand decapitation his not mori given that it would be more lore appropriate.

I don't think BHVR wants to add such things in as it could result in the game being restricted in certain regions.

I'm still waiting on this extensive list of counter-plays to Spirit that you've mentioned earlier. I imagine someone with your knowledge should have numerous examples to share with all of us. Enlighten me.

They won't they always say stuff like this and then don't actually explain how one is supposed to loop against a Spirit. They give vague tips but nothing concrete and then talk down to people who are asking for a detailed explanation of a scenario vs Spirit 😑

  • @CyperX said:

    • The Trapper now can hold 2 traps at base (starts with one)
    • Injured survivors who escape a trap by themselves should be downed (Idea by Otzdarva)

I like these ideas , also there should be a bleed out so if they escape from a trap and don't heal under a certain amount of time, they will scream and go down to dying state

Those feel like effects that should be tied to add ons tbh.

Traps downing injured players and inflicting deep wounds on healthy survivors feels like way too excessive.

I like a LOT of these ideas and think Trapper absolutely needs some love but at the same time I think we need to calm down with saying his power is "weak" because it most certainly is not in the right scenarios.

Also yes please, Dead Hard should have never been able to let people dash over bear traps I'm really hoping they implement this eventually because it just makes no sense at all.

  • @ColonelManny said:

I'll make this short. This is an asymmetrical 4 vs 1 horror game correct. Asymmetrical, uneven, odd, and unfair. Survivors use their perks and tools and critical thinking to think of the best way to win, right? Killers ALSO use perks, add-ons, and critical thinking to win. If a killer finds a TACTIC that works, like tunneling, that should be fine. From all that I've read, a bunch of you f*cking hate tunneling and get so mad when we use a tactic to our advantage. It's not cheating, breaking the game, it's just a TACTIC THAT WORKS.

By the very same logic, gen rushing should be a viable tactic for Survivors, no?

Oh, right Killers will complain and cry about Survivors who do that. See that? It can go both ways.

  • More people need to do this lol

It helps to be sensible and nice. Too much toxic in the community
