  • Killing 3 survivors should be the adept

    No more, no less

If you do too well too fast, you get screwed. If you do too poorly, you don't get it (which I suppose that one does make sense). If you do well at just the right speed but the RNG gifts the last person with the Hatch, well that sucks to be you I guess (though granted if you did REALLY well the rest of the time, you still might get the adept, its not impossible to Adept with a Hatch escape, it's just damn hard)!

If they're going to insist on this Kills = Skills garbage, make it at least be in the killers favor when it comes to getting adepts

  • Good call!

  • You guys are having fun?

  • Even though I did not personally ask about your cats, anyone with cats can just assume I want to see them

  • Circle of Healing weirdly enough

1500 boldness points per use and you can just bless any totem you run into (you don't need to wait for yours to get snuffed out).

It's what I use of I'm going after Boldness

  • He's been in there a long time, he needed a potty break finally

  • There are usually two things that makes the killer games super unfun; games that are way too easy and games that are way too hard

Unfortunately for DBD, the vast vast vast majority of killer games seem to be one of those two.

Someone is getting obliterated in my games for the most part. No matter which side it is, that's not a ton of fun.

  • @Mad_Scientist said:

Hey, it's ya boi. I dropped the whole "collecting data, bleep blorp" thing because I felt like no one really cared, not even me.

Anyways, despite the fact that I've seen a couple people lamenting that their games have been really hard today, I've played about four and they all went pretty well. Sorry that I can't relate to you on that, at least not today.

To be fair, I haven't played that much today, technically... but I play really slow matches, in general, so 4 games to me is like, maybe 2 hours.

One was a survivor game: I got adept Yoichi! It was my first try, too. Not just at adept, it was literally my first game as Yoichi. It was against an Artist on the Dead Dawg Saloon who was also trying to do the adept. I definitely got value out of all my perks that game, even empathetic connection. I also got very lucky; for some reason, she chose me as the "I'll hit him but then I'll just leave him alone," guy.

I saw someone say they've been having "right shite" teammates (they didn't say that, they weren't British, but that was the idea) and I don't know how I feel about that. My teammates on my one survivor match today were pretty competent. Maybe a bit boring, I guess? No one went for, like... an epic sabotage play or flashlight blind, and I don't recall anyone lasting an uber long time in chase, but they definitely bought enough time for us to escape. Wish half of them didn't teabag the killer at the end of the game like total pieces of #########, though (honestly, don't even worry about balance. Just take that ######### out. Please. I am BEGGING you!)

But then the killer games were when things got a bit juicier... I mean, my experience as to whether or not I was winning didn't seem to change much, but I played a lot more killer today, so that's what I mean.

First match I was playing Wraith for a daily. I upgraded my addons from bone clapper and the ghost (a yellow and a brown) to two greens, one of them windstorm and the other the "Sloppy Butcher as an add-on" one (why do (so many) killers have that? Like, it's useful! But isn't it a bit odd to have the effect of an entire perk ascribed to a consumable, just for using their power "correctly?") I also run a fairly sweaty build, I guess. BBQ, NWO, SH:PR, Jolt. You know; smack 'em and rack 'em. It's my jam.

That game was also on Dead Dawg Saloon, and it went pretty swimmingly considering there were two twitch streamers, and at least one Circle of Healing I can remember. There was a crazy 3-man into a full reset because of one sabotuer when I went to hook a survivor instead of drop them to defend a different hooked survivor who was nearby and obviously about to get rescued, and maybe I'd be in a really sour mood if it wasn't for the fact that yeah, that happened!... but they still all ultimately died anyways.

So I finished that game, got full iri embs, earned two pips, and realized I was one pip away from iri 1, and although I wanted to call it right then and there and do something productive, like my homework or the laundry, I thought "well now I HAVE to make it." I didn't even know I was gonna go for that this month!

Anyways, I started thinking "who's the killer that I'm most likely to pip with?" as well as "who really puts me through the trenches, in terms of MMR? Who demands the most of me so I can see what's really happening today?" and I decided that was Huntress, since I've been trying to get her achievement for about 4 years, anyways. But then I ran iri head and the 4.6 add-on, as well as Lethal Pursuer, and got sent to Midwich. I think there actually was a map offering, now that I think about it. Funny that that probably would've been one of my worst maps had I not been running the add-on. So I couldn't get the achievement, and that game I actually won too hard to pip. This is partially because this one Dwight, God bless him, just ended up getting more or less camped and tunneled to death, which isn't what I was trying to do but that's just sort of how it happened. He was rotting there until at least second state, I think I was chasing someone who was nearby? the person who finally did get him didn't have bt, this Meg, and she spun me when she was trying to take a protection hit (well, in retrospect, maybe she wasn't trying to take a protection hit, maybe she was just perfectly set up for one by accident) causing me to hit Dwight right off the hook instead! Ain't that just like a Meg? Anyways, Dwight dced the moment I went to finally pick him up, and I couldn't even blame him. I just worry he blames me...

So now it's like 20 minutes after I told myself I was gonna stop playing, but I'm not done. Video games do the thing they've been doing to me since I was five; drive me to be task-oriented instead of time-oriented ("I don't care if I've been playing for three hours, if Shyeesha the Wyvern isn't burning in the green inferno, I'm not going to bed!"). I choose a killer who I know I can't possibly win too hard with; Sadako. She's butt-loads of fun, but boy howdy is the struggle real on her. I think she has the Demogorgon problem; she's good at everything except actually killing survivors. I feel like y'all at BHVR know that, and that's why you gave her the condemnation mechanic, but you also can't have a killer with a reliable means of killing survivors before they've been hooked once, which is probably why fully condemning a survivor is so rare that it almost feels like it doesn't exist. I do wonder if there's anything you could do about that. Maybe a means of condemning survivors who are already in the dying state, either as a buff or as an add-on, or maybe even an add-on which makes nearby manifesting condemn survivors, at least a little? Maybe even exposed on a fully condemned survivor? It takes long enough and it's easy enough to get rid of that I feel like that isn't actually as crazy as it may seem, BUT I DIGRESS

After lucking out with a max bp game as Wraith on Saloon, just so happening to run the "don't come to the fog tomorrow" build on Huntress on the exact map where I needed it, apparently, I ended up lucking out on Sadako. I got sent to Lery's, this time not as a map offering, so that was already a huge plus. There was a Jeff, who was pretty good at lasting a long time in chase, but had to spend resources to do so, so I juiced him like a succulent spring-time lemon for a bit. There was a sneaky Mikaela, who might've camouflaged better if she wasn't wearing ######### purple. A Claudette who seemed kind of scared and new, and an obsession Claudette who did not (one was wearing the default brown jacket, one was wearing the Streetwise (smarts? style? You know the one, the yellow jacket!) cosmetic. Guess which.) The game eventually got to a hatch game for Claudette. She ended up hiding in a locker and sacrificing herself to the EGC. Also turned out to be a streamer.

So those were my four games today. How did I feel about them? Well...

I'm the type of person who would much, much rather be bored than frustrated. So if the MMR is set, as of today, at a place where it gives me easier opponents, I welcome that with open arms. I have no qualms with admitting why I main killer; I want to feel powerful. And before you start moralizing at me about how that's wrong or pathetic, I think I'd just leave at this; I used to get beat up in middle school, let me have this. And let's leave it at that, please. Thanks? I ain't gonna mean it unless you actually do it, but thanks. Let's not talk about this.

I will admit, however, that this is clearly not a "what is good for the goose is good for the gander" situation. If I'm winning all the time as killer, while I'd definitely keep playing the game if that was the case, I imagine there are two problems with an MMR system that makes matches too easy.

    1. Other killers may want a sterner challenge (if anyone knows one, show them to me. Cause I haven't met any, lol)
    2. Survivors probably don't appreciate getting matched with teammates that, they feel, make the game too easy for the killer. Like that Meg, for instance (it's always a Meg!)

So I think my final thoughts on the matter are quite simple; I love this, I'm not sure everyone else will, and maybe there should be more emphasis on getting survivors to be matched with appropriate teammates as opposed to appropriately skilled killers, because having a bad team seems to be even worse for your health than going against a good killer (that's right, folks, you heard it here first*, survivors are better at killing other survivors than killers are).

I also have a sneaking suspicion that MMR is more loadout based than player based... especially since the wraith game was the only one it took a while to find.

*You probably have heard this exact thing elsewhere prior.

    This one?

Sometimes (especially with brand new members) posts go a bit nutter butters (something with the anti-spam system). I expect it will show up again shortly.

  • You know what else had pizza?

    Friday Night at Freddy's!!!

    FNAF confirmed

  • You can try but Trapper likes the chase more than the catch so I don't know if he'll accept you just giving up to him...

  • That might be accepted but I can't promise you that for sure

  • Uhhh, I think so Brain but where are we going to find a rubber duck suit big enough to fit on the moon?

  • Allegedly yes

As long as you do an in game report, gather the footage, fill out the form completely with no mistakes, sign and date here here and here and promise to name your first born Trapper

  • Ultimately it is your choice but I try not to let my previous games dictate what I do in the next game. I won't always give hatch or respect the Kobe but I am far more likely to if you weren't a jerk to me during the match.

These guys being jerks this match won't affect my choice to give hatch to survivors in my next match

Tbh no build kind of makes me want to try it again. Kind of sick of Apex Legends atm and could use a good battle royale

I have found it fun when we play. I'd never play it by myself but if your buddies are looking for something fun to play, no build mode is a fun enough time. It's also neat coming back and seeing how different the map is and new weapons and items and whatnot

  • I do not believe so. The only thing you can do is see all your comments or if it was your discussion, see all your threads that you created.

Even flipping through my posts, my pictures of Holly don't show up in the "my comments" section (I'd have to click on it and bring up the comment itself to see the pic)

  • I seem to be getting nothing but bully squads or baby squads. But the bully squads must be new because they haven't been very good at bullying (hope you four who switched to flashlights at the last second and just looped killer shack so I couldn't pick anyone up enjoyed "lie on the floor simulator" last night).

New MMR must think I suck cause my opponents seem to have no idea what they're doing.

  • It's just it's own game mode right now (I know based on DBD we don't think of games being able to have more than one game mode but it is possible :P)

It does feel like a strange decision considering building is the one thing that differentiates Fortnite from any other Battle Royale game but it sounds like it was super popular with old farts like me who had played it previously but couldn't keep up with those pesky kids and their mangy dog when it came to being able to build stuff. I don't know if they'll keep it or not but as long as it's there, I'll probably play every once in a while for funsy.

    Fortnight no build mode Woooooo

Are you an OG Fortniter too?!?!

I played that game....shiiiiii, had to have been four years or so since I played it. My old man reflexes couldn't keep up with all the damn script kiddies who could build Avengers Tower in five seconds and I got sick of it.

Jumped back in when I saw that No Build Mode and have at least somewhat enjoyed it with friends

  • Classic DBD meme, I choose you!

    DBD.png

  • There are people on PTB every go around like that. They go out of their way to screw it up as much as they can because...jerks are gonna jerk I guess *shrugs*

  • Oh, got another!

To the team that went from 0 flashlights to 4 flashlights just before the game started and then proceeded to do nothing but loop the shack and never allow me to actually play the game, I hope you all enjoyed your "lying on the ground" simulator as much as I did. Sure, it took forever and you were probably hoping I'd have given up to your bully squad tactics forever ago but I can be very petty when jerks and gonna jerk.

I did only get 3 stacks of my BBQ since 3 of you were in a bad position when I downed you and it allowed me to hook you without being blinded by 3 flashlights so I guess that's the one thing that could have made it more perfect

Even worse is when the [Killer / Survivor] decides to start invading threads and ranting about how [Killer(s) / Survivor(s)] need a buff, and start being a bully to [Killers / Survivors]

Damn those Other Siders. Always coming into our threads with our legit complaints about how awful it is to play our side and try to derail the threads with their whining about their already OP garbage needing to be boosted. Like they don't already have every advantage while we can't get anything done all game!

It might seem like there's more on the survivor side than killer but that's just a numbers game. There is one killer and four survivors per game. One chance for a jerk killer versus four chances for a jerk survivor.

I stopped filling out those reports, once they took longer than my matches.

Same. While Xbox Series X has some handy recording/sharing stuff, it's absolutely baffling me that anyone would ever have to leave the game to another device to do a report. I have to cut the clip, upload the clip to the internet, go onto my computer, fill out the paperwork, figure out how to get my clip from where it uploaded to BHVR, hope I filled it all out right (I can't copy/paste, I'm reporting on an entirely different device since I can't do this from my Xbox), and then submit it and hope BHVR took action.

I'm done wasting 20 minutes of my life policing BHVRs game.

  • @Adaez said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2886641#Comment_2886641

This is money BHVR loses going somewhere else while slowly killing the game.

Its their only game,I dont think they afford to let it die.

You'd think BHVR would understand that short term losses to build an anti-cheating system or something is better than the long term losses of their game dying because their player base gets tired of cheaters but...well...*gestures to everything*

  • I don't know what anyone expected. BHVR seems to have no desire to do anything about it (besides make their players fill out more paperwork to report someone than getting a mortgage).

So sellers are going to make bank as long as they can until BHVR finally realizes that maybe they need to finally try anything to fix it or the game is bled dry and dies.

  • That cost money and BHVR has made it crystal clear that that is off the table

Now which of the 38 new skins we created do you want to pay $10 for?

  • If BHVR adds bots (actual BHVR bots, not the hacker bots we're getting), I'm just as likely to quit from that as I am the hacker bots

Multiplayer games are fun BECAUSE they're multiplayer games. As in, games I get to play against other people in. There's no satisfaction or fun to be had in a game like this if all I'm doing is stomping (or getting stomped by) 1s and 0s. If I wanted to play alone, I'd play a single player game.

EDIT: This is assuming the bots are added as the players. Like...if someone DC's because they're pissy that they got caught first and threw a temper tantrum, I'm fine if they are replaced by bots mid-match.

  • Yesterday I killed a subtle hacker. It was silly because I could tell immediately that they were doing it 20 seconds into the chase (if you're going to subtle hack but make it THAT obvious, you should probably just hack bro).

His plan was obviously to waste my time getting in unwinnable chases but I flat out ignored them and hammered the team instead. Lucky for me they were also way too altruistic for their own good so I took them down once everyone else was on their death hook as they desperately spent the game chasing me to get me to go after them instead of their team.

  • @Nos37 said:

Wouldn't it just become bots vs bots?

The unkillable survivor versus the unstoppable killer!

  • Well I don't tunnel so... :D

Or at least I don't do the actual definition of tunneling (going exclusively after one person while ignoring any and all other targets of opportunity in your pursuit of that one person). EDIT: I suppose that's not 100% true but someone has to REALLY piss me off for me to decide to go after them exclusively and if you're just playing well, that's not enough to get me to do it. You have to literally be asking for it with tbagging, finger pointing, jumping in and out of lockers when I'm NOT after you, etc for me to decide that you're going to die. If you're being actual tunneled by me, you ASKED me to do it.

If you're talking about the "survivor rulebook" version of not tunneling where I'm not allowed to hook the same person multiple times in a row, sometimes I do feel bad. They might not be very good. They might be the ones not hiding. They might just be stupidly unlucky. I do feel kind of bad for them and will go after any other target (even to my own detriment if they're injured and the other person is not) if they're on death hook while everyone else is on one to zero hooks but if you're the only one I can ever find...well...them's the breaks.

  • Blocking in game does nothing except stop them from trying to friend you

It is some damn bad luck that you got the same exactly person three times in a row though

edit: imagining this is what killers do in their spare time with all those broken pallets🤔

    New killer confirmed?!?!

  • Impossible!!!!

Although I suppose in a weird sense, I kind of do this. I do not use DH because it is so frustrating to deal with as killer that I feel just...dirty using it as a survivor (I use Lithe instead).

But yes, anyone who is actually arguing that Sprint Burst is superior to Dead Hard either has no idea how to actually use DH and they keep slamming themselves into a brick wall every time they try to use it or they are lying (OK, I suppose there are probably a handful of users who actually do believe SB is the best Exhaust perk somehow but hey, if that's what they prefer to use, then as a killer I 100% endorse their decision).

Or they're Meg in real life and therefore have a biased view on the perk, in which case, I did not realize they had computers in the realm and I suggest they use them to try to contact someone rather than go on the DBD Forums.

  • All opinions are subjective. Except for mine. I am objectively correct. So if you ever have any question about any topic, just think "What does Tippy think" and then you'll know the correct answer.

  • I suppose it's a tomato tomatoe kind of thing but that sounds like you ran into one of the now infamous AI Bots that people have started using. There's a bunch of threads on them now as evidently over the last week it's become a huge issue.

  • I just want my BBQ & Chili to apply! It would be nice for other perks that require hooking to also apply but really that's the only one I REALLY want BHVR.

Come on BHVR, be cool!!! Give me my stack :,(

  • That one took me FOREVER because I refused to change my gameplay for that damn challenge (I imagine you could get it pretty quick with a Basement Bubba build as all you need is one noob squad to fall for it).

I got really close once but the little bastard wiggled out of my grip at the bottom of the stairs and found the hatch...

Finally I ended up getting it with a give up squad so...yay? I hooked two people in the basement (playing Bubba but not basement Bubba, they just determined swarming the hook against Bubba was a good strategy). Once two were on the hook, the other two just walked up behind me in the basement and looked at me until I took them down and hooked them too.

My assumption is the two on the hook were together farming each other like dum dums and the other two just gave up.

  • Why does everyone keep talking about this so called Cheater and Bot problem? I have seen no proof of this and no one else has! There are no Cheaters and Bots in Ba Sing Realm!

    no problems.jpg

  • Meanwhile Tippy to DBD

I'll get Elden Ring eventually but I have so many damn games in my backlog (including Dark Souls!) that I just don't want to pay full price for it. One day though...probably not today
