  • I'm guessing that was more of the friendly tbagging rather than the jerk tbagging. They knew they were dead and had accepted it...

I know when I do my friendly tbagging, it's the slow one (I will usually do one crouch and look at the ground cause I feel like it kind of looks like you're bowing) but many just tbag and it's more the context of the situation that dictates what kind they're doing

For what it's worth, going AFK is indeed a reportable offense.

My assumption based on their post is the killer wasn't afk, they just weren't moving from that spot (as in they were still playing and looking around, they just stood still. Whether that's still "technically" AFK or not I don't know but my assumption is no). I could be wrong but that was my reading of the post.

And you are wrong afk is a reportable offense

Then report them and move on. I have no idea why you're being so weirdly aggressive in this thread to people

You made a post saying that the game could be held indefinitely. People posted to prove that it doesn't hold the game indefinitely.

No one has made a statement that they enjoy this being possible.

That and we're also stating that this isn't a reportable offense because the game can progress by survivors working on the gens and just dodging the chains every so often.

I don't think anyone here LIKES it but by the letter of the rules, it's not taking the game hostage (and it shouldn't take a hour to do, you find your fellow survivors and have multiple people just hammer the same gen. Rinse and repeat. It'll take a little longer than usual but nowhere near "hostage taking" levels).

  • It would make the game go slow and tedious but you can still do gens in a chain hunt. You want to clear chain hunt ASAP because it's a huge problem when the killer is pressuring and chasing you but if he's just guarding the box, he's doing neither.

If, in theory, I can move between my home and office locker, which are tens of kilometers apart, in a few tens of seconds. You can go to your friend's house as well as your office. Friends, do not lock your locker🫣

That's me except Freddy. Teleporting would be super useful. The only reason I went Fred instead is having it randomly turn pitch black every few minutes seems super inconvenient for everyone around me. Although I suppose everyone will just enter Diet Silent Hill a bunch so that might not be much better...

Just be sure not to finish your gens so I don't lose access to my teleport point...

For all of its faults, this is still one of the best games in the genre. It's by no means perfect but there's a reason I've been playing for almost 3 years now and have thousands of posts here

It wouldn't have changed anything if the favourite series character of that man turned out to be gay or lesbian, would it? I don't believe in media representation being anywhere profound if it's not real people. It's more like a tool box add-on. It can fix one and then gets useless.

Historically speaking, hatred of gays has its roots in the Middle Ages, when church members misused an excerpt from the Old Testament because they were disgusted by same-sex love. Basically, such people are the problem and you can't change them either. They have grown up with such bullshit. It would be more important to actively teach children openness in real life and to actively defend those who are victims of violence. A cartoon won't change much, just like any other artificially designed media representation.

It may just be me, the cigar or the ale speaking but the only reason for me to accept myself as I am was a friend I had a dead close connection to. He was just himself. The word gay never fell, even tho he was into men. He'd just do his thing and respect other people while doing so. Real people do the real change. We need to get rid of religion based gender role ideals.

Anyways, sad news. May whoever died that day rest in peace. I hope the gunman got thrown into the locker after being interrogated and psychological observated. Can't understand how someone can be so narcissistic that they think they have the authority to end someone else's life.

While I absolutely agree that this alone is very unlikely to fix someone, we see this all the time the other direction and given the father's reaction to the shooting (If you haven't seen it, the cliff notes is that he was horrified...that it might have meant that his son was gay), this particular shooter may have not been savable. But we see this kind of thing all the time with Racism and Sexism and whatnot where sometimes a kid/teen sees a video from some crazed dude spouting about how X is evil and they fall down the rabbit hole. Very few people just become horribly racist/sexist/uh...gayist? What would be the word for this against gay/lesbian people? Anyway, very few people start off at 100, they have something that sparks them and it builds from there. Something like this, while a tiny little baby step of a baby step, could just as easily be the beginning of the rabbit hole for someone else.

It's never going to be something we can objectively quantify because how do you quantify the tiny butterfly flap that might be the first steps to someone being a kind and caring person vs a crazed person who decides SOMEONE has to take action against those evil groomers but if it even stops one person from taking that path, it's 100% worth it.

(then this isn't even getting into those situations where someone raised in a "NO SON OF MINE IS GOING TO BE GAY!!!!!!!!" households where they might feel a little less alone to see a story like David's and decide that maybe it's not so bad to be different)

  • Olive meowed at me and I realized this was the first time she's meowed at me. Her meow is ######### ADORABLE. It's like a little baby doll meow!!!!!!

I need to get a video of that next feeding time because it might become the most "liked" post on the internet.

  • You can still play killer. You just don't get the bonus because there's more people playing killer than survivor.

  • It's unfortunate as a survivor but that's the nature of the RNG, you win some you lose some. I like the randomness of it so I'm fine with it.

  • Olive has come upstairs and the cats have stopped hissing at each other (they're not buddy buddy still but they are cordially indifferent to each other). Though for some reason Olive stoll bolts if I walk towards her upstairs. Downstairs she aggressively demands pets (she headbutts my hand constantly) but I guess I'm trustworthy down there but not up here yet...

    PXL_20221129_012300946.jpg

(Pic is a bit grainy cause I had to zoom in as she'd bolt if I got closer)

  • I just post a lot when I'm supposed to be working...

Although I used to post WAY more previously in the usual suspects (Camping/Tunneling threads, balance broke, X is unfair, etc etc) but I realized that so many of those posts are just the same thing over and over and over again and most users just kind of talk at each other instead of with each other.

Now most of my posts are either jokes or Holly/Olive/Birds. I sometimes still wade into the argument threads with an actual serious argument but those are getting rarer and rarer for me.

  • DBD has been dying for about 6 years give or take

The game is always gaining and losing players. Eventually they'll hit a point of no return but I see no reason to believe that'll be anytime soon short of BHVR bulleting their own game for some reason

It's only been a week, cats can take up to 3 months getting comfortable with change in their environment and this is a big change for both. My cats still don't have run of the house because Dante is just barely comfortable with us.

If there are anymore fights maybe look into getting some of those multi-cat pheromone diffusers since they're made to chill out cats while they get used to eachother. Also maybe give them both collars with bells for now - sometimes fights happen because one scared the crap out of the other accidentally because they didn't know where exactly the other cat was. The noise from the bell will help them pinpoint where the other is when they can't see eachother instead of just relying on smell.

I was looking at those calming pheromone things. I might have to give them a try.

Edit; a four pack of the calming collars is on sale so I snagged a box.

Olive was just so ready to get out of her room that I forget it took Holly weeks before she would come out and she only had me to get used to...

  • Yeah, he's clunky as hell to use. It barely feels worth the time and effort to send out his goons, especially during a chase when by the time I get to a spot to send backup to break the pallet they dropped, the survivor is gone.

I haven't played a ton of him yet so maybe with a bit of practice he'll get better but so far the only time I find his knights worth using is camping or drive by breakings of downed pallets or generators to save me the three seconds to kick them myself

  • It is not

While super inconvenient and annoying, you will die. Taking hostage is doing something where the game can't end, you all dying via bleedout will end the match.

  • He's a licensed character (so built in popularity) who is actually pretty strong and still relatively new. The knockout combo for a character to be extremely popular.

  • ...have you ever drawn Nurse? I don't recall ever seeing Nurse in any of your drawings. Cause it sounds like a good excuse now :D

  • Nobody bleedin but we had our first cat fight today. Olive is sulking so she must have lost as she goes back into the basement to hide and won't come out even with treat bribes but it's not your fault Olive! Holly is a good weight class above you!

    Good take.

If the roles were equally intuitive at low level while equally non-exploitable at high level, there would be very likely be zero bias (subconscious or intentional) in balance decisions. As it stands it often feels like there is bias due to how many situations are handled/designed, but it also feels like many of them are due to trying to essentially balance two completely different games (and thus prioritizing the newcomer oriented one)

Stuff like getting rid of locker blinds is a step toward fixing issues at high level that have little to no effect on low level play, which feels consistent with that logic. There is simply too much variance in efficiency to tackle everything, so when issues conflict it seems they stick with a prioritization system that inherently causes biased responses, even though the bias itself is not the intention.

To give them credit, they are getting better about it. The locker blind being a great example and then the previous "big killer" update, specifically Dead Hard

Killers at high levels have HATED old DH because a good survivor knew how to use it to max out value but noobs were baffled why people hated it cause a noob would DH to dodge or DH straight into a brick wall. DH wasn't broken at low levels, therefore DH wasn't broken.

I still expect BHVR to keep their main focus on low level play in regards to balance decisions but I'm hopeful they'll stop ignoring high level balance...

  • I do not think that they are survivor or killer sided

That being said, I do think they are Noob-sided

The majority of their decisions (especially with balance) seems to be towards the noobs. It's why they might seem survivor sided because generally, a noob survivor is at a big disadvantage against a noob killer. It takes time and effort to truly figure out how to maximize playing survivor so BHVR balances to help them out.

Which in a way does make sense. A game doesn't survive for six years because they have a small but dedicated fanbase, a game like this survives by constantly trying to bring fresh blood into the mix. But fresh blood isn't going to stick around (and more importantly, buy DLC and Cosmetics) if they feel like the game is absolutely hopeless for them...

  • Thumbs Up Guy.jpg

    That's nice?

Like...what is it you want to have discussed here?

  • I diden even do nothin :(

  • Molly is getting her name changed back to Olive. I keep mixing up their damn names when I call them because I'm old and my brain is fried so I'm going back to having two distinct names

Unfortunately I don't have another picture yet as now that the door has been opened and both cats now get free reign of the house, Olive is using her newfound freedom to hide throughout the house instead of just hiding in one room! The handful of times I have "caught" her out in the open, I either don't have my phone on me or she bolts before I can snap a pic. My presumption is with the whole house she's just overstimulated and like the guest room, will just need a few days to calm herself down and then she'll be good.

For the most part they're leaving each other alone, though this morning was the closest thing to a fight I've seen as both raised their paw up and hissed when they crossed paths in the hallway as I was getting up to get them their food. No claws or whatnot so I'm not concerned, just two cats establishing themselves in the house.

Here's a cool shot though of Holly I got a few days ago with a neighbor cat

  • Probably not

The game is what it is at this point. I think it's a lot more likely we'll get DBD 2; Dead Harder before we'll ever see a strictly health patch

  • No, just you. Yes, you specifically whoever is reading this. Everyone else is getting normal matches except for you.

(though to actually answer, I have not but I've only played a few games today)

even though i might not comment often I do love to see these updates of Holly and Molly 🥰

Molly is affectionate as hell. I'm sitting here as she headbutts the ######### out of my arm for pets.

I kind of hope this is just a phase here cause if she thinks she can just abuse me like this to get what she wants because she's so cute... she's absolutely right

  • It begins...

    PXL_20221124_221928049.jpg

Holly hissed once. They're basically ignoring each other right now but so far so good

  • Molly now comes to me for pets and is hanging by the door trying to sneak out with me. I am going to go see a movie this afternoon but WFH Friday and WFH Monday and half day Tuesday, might be time for the cats to be introduced...

  • Firefly References are the Best References

  • I do think it's too much as all those combos do is turn the game into an absolute chore as the match grinds to a complete halt, especially towards the end.

That being said, unless they decide to introduce some kind of perk points system (where you get X amount of points per equipped perks and stronger perks take more points to run), there shouldn't be a restriction on what perks any given player can use together

  • Project W

    A upside down W would be a M...

A M that has been cut slightly is a N...

Dead by DAYLIGHT so it's night...

The Project W teaser trailer was released on Wednesday, which is only two days from Friday...

Freddy Kreuger is a killer in DBD...

PROJECT W IS FRIDAY NIGHTS AT FREDDYS!!!!!!

It's so obvious once you see the clues put together

I don’t think it’s down to the QA testers and probably how much time the team is given for QA at all. They have pretty strict deadlines and are already working on future stuff etc. We really don’t have enough insight in the work processes to pinpoint where the problems are - though if it was just the QA testers then the team/management would have realized that by now. It’s more likely that BHVR is fully aware that there are plenty of bugs and they are okay with those existing for the bugfix patches etc.

generally they have gotten better with super gamebreaking stuff (not including whatever happened to PlayStation platforms here - but live environments can vary and result in something like this - I am pretty sure they had to get approval from Sony for this update and apparently that worked? Though this is really just speculation)

    This

Anyone who has done any software testing of any kind knows that it's incredibly likely QA catches most of these issues but management for whatever reason decides to push it through anyways.

Good God cat, you are the loudest eater I've ever heard!

She stayed out and ate while I was in the room so very good progress. She sniffed my hand and determined that was enough Tippy today and went back under the bed.

Is it any good? Last far cry game i played was 3, the flamethrower is fun

I haven't played it yet, just have it. Four is good if formulaic but five I really liked a lot. It's still a Far Cry game so still pretty formulaic but the story was great.

I'm hoping six can nail the story as well as five did. I haven't decided for sure if I'm going to do that or just try to force myself to get into Plague Tale 2 cause I've heard it's even better than the first game and I loved the first game. Just not sure I'm in the mood for a stealth game right now...

  • As long as that survivor hasn't BM'ed me in the game, I will stop and let them get their glyph if they stop mid chase to get it. I don't expect my opponent to let me do it but I appreciate a killer who does.

  • 22!?!?! They're just a lil baby!!!!

I heard plague tale is pretty good, but a lot of rats are in it, I'd recommend to take a decently long break if you're feeling burnt out

Golf is pretty cool, though I'm not much of a sports guy, practice is always good

It's not so much burnt out, just not feeling it. I think I need something more boom boom rather than sneak sneak. I bought Far Cry Six recently, that seems like a good mindless shooter for now.

  • For games, a ton. I've been gaming since I was a wee lad. I have Game Pass, which has been awesome as there are a ton of games I probably would have never tried if I had to buy them (My Friend Pedro, Hollow Knight, and A Plagues Tale as the biggest example).

I'm currently trying to play Plague Tale 2 but for some reason I'm not feeling it. It's not the games fault, it's a Tippy problem. But I might put it down and go to a more action game and come back.

For real life, I golf. I'm in a "for fun" league and also usually play on the weekend. I almost exclusively play at Executive 9 Holes just because even though I've been playing for a long time, I'm still not very good 😅

thats usually what he does with most of the gods he faces. baldur and zeus specifically.

Yeah, I only played Dad of Boy (never played the original trilogy for some reason) but I know that happens a lot in those games. Kind of like Mega Man where he absorbs the powers of something he killed to make his weapons stronger.

I need to get me a PS5 at some point so I can play Dad of Boy 2...

  • So so so many reasons! Just today I....oh wait, you mean in the game

I generally play pretty nicely I think. The only thing that would send me to hell is if I go up against a bully squad, I am 100% an eye for an eye kind of player. If your goal is to make my game miserable, you ain't goin on the hook, you're going to lie there and you're going to think about why Killer Tippy has put you in time out.
