  • Ya'll complaining do realize that in the usual hatch game (ie. only 2 gens done) you will definitely pip and likely even double pip right? Don't believe me let's do some maths...

3 gens left = automatic silver Gatekeeper. If the game was anything over 5 minutes (this is the bare minimum length of any game I've ever played) that upgrades to at least a gold emblem. 3 points.

    Killed 3 = gold Devout. 3 points.

You get at minimum 2 hits and 2 hook stages on those 3 survivors. That's 18 points in Malicious. If you got just 1 hook on the guy that escapes that's another 4 points, which is silver emblem. 2 more points.

You are already up to 8 emblem points, which is a safety. You only need bronze Chaser to pip, and chances are you will have at least silver.

If people got saved and didn't just die on their first hook then you can easily get gold/iri Malicious or Chaser by the time hatch rolls around.

I literally drop the last dude on the hatch and let them go and still walk out of the game with a 2 pip.

Basically, you guys are complaining you didn't win hard enough.

PS. If someone takes hatch and you don't at least pip then maybe you didn't play as well as you thought and thus don't deserve a 4k.

  • I don't camp hooks and BT rarely ever effects me. If it happens to proc and I hit the guy I usually let them go because they need to heal (even more so now with how Deep Wounds works). The moment I see the timer I usually got the guy that made the save. Why? Well 9 times outta 10 they will let me hit them to take aggro off their friend. Then all I need to do is land 1 more hit on them within 32/40 seconds (if I'm running Sloppy) and the other guy is as good as dead. I'll hook the saver and see the BT guy healing with BBQ. He is almost definitely still injured, and now I can go after him.

But if you just chase down the BT guy what is the saver going to do? Yep, a gen! They don't need to heal or anything, so you are cucking yourself by doing that. It's 1000 times more efficient to go after the saver because the BT guy needs to heal before he does anything. And if he runs to the others for heals even better because now they stop doing gens to heal, and with BBQ I will see all 3 of you and if I get there before you heal now I can really pressure you by injuring more of you.

If you really think tunneling the BT guy is the most efficient way to play it's obvious you never tried to do anything else. If you did you'd immediately see that's the worst decision you could make as killer.

@thesuicidefox I do hope this will end the era of hackers, or at least minimize it as best as they can, and that the ban for it will be instantly permanent, with no appeal to it.

@Arsoul Yes i have some friends from Australia who almost never seen a ping below 300 in their lives lol, and that makes me also concerned about my region as the closest thing to me would be EU with 130-170 ping always.

Speaking from experience with Gears of War, they switched from p2p to dedi's in Gears 2 just before the Gears 3 beta went live (part of title update 6 which I call "Gears 3 alpha") and even though you still get match with people far away the connections were SIGNIFICANTLY better. Dedi's are way more stable than your private network and they work to even out the connection for all players. Meaning that even if your ping is high the server will even it out so that other players experience a similar ping, making it fair for everyone. It kinda sucks actually if you have good ping, because all that happens is your ping gets worse, but it's still better than relying on people to host games. I'd rather play Gears on west coast servers with 150+ ping than p2p.

  • Wake Up was never considered a healing action so Freddy is unchanged. I run NC on him all the time and I've never see people waking up with it.

  • They need to optimize the game on console first. We would be at a huge disadvantage not playing at 60 FPS.

  • Legit concern. I'm willing to bet they will have several regions though. It wouldn't make sense to NOT do that.

As far as hackers are concerned, dedi's should curb that since it would detect unauthorized changes to the game.

If you use RM or DL then tunnel away, because you have a perk that tells you to do it. But if you don't use them and still tunnel, unless the survivors put you in that position you're just a trash killer. Sorry it's the truth.

So it's ok to "ruin" someone else's game if the perks you're using makes the game that much more unbearable for the survivors left on the map after you tunnel some poor soul to activate it?

Makes sense with zero leaps in logic.

There is a big difference between "I need to do this" and "I want to do this". Like the perk literally requires you to kill the guy. If you can't see that difference then IDK what else to say to you.

  • @xmenfanatic Because it's entirely reasonable to expect someone to know every possible reaction to things they say, especially things that are universally considered to be good manners. It's not at all the problem of the person that gets offended at literally nothing, it's all the fault of the person that said it.

You guys are so desperate to be right when the simple fact is people say GG they mean GG. How someone interprets that is not their problem. I shouldn't have to explain my intentions in-depth to every single person I meet in order to spare their feelings.

  • Probably. I'd like to have the perks even if I don't end up using them I need everything unlock for completionist sake. Also I don't mind supporting developers that make games I enjoy and play often. I've bought games before just to do that.

  • @Oblitiry I agree that no button might even be the best option. I only made this post because I saw someone LOL every dev post in a few other threads. It's just childish and disrespectful, obviously the guy didn't say anything funny so the LOL's could only be trolls. He was trying to make points to validate design decisions they made. Decisions that I can GUARANTEE you were not done recklessly but after actually testing different things.

Like everyone's all "Exposed should work on Legion's Frenzy" and the devs explain they tested it and it was just too OP, but some people can't seem to accept that as an answer. They disagree and LOL the post to be toxic. Enough is enough at this point.

I don't actually have that freedom here though. If a mod wanted to they could close this thread, or delete it, and ban me. I hope they don't, but it's entirely at their discretion. The 2nd amendment does not protect me here. Or whatever amendment it is in Canada IDK.

  • @Attackfrog They removed "down vote" because people would spam with alt accounts. LOL has become the new "down vote" and therefore should be removed as well. If you're only option was "vote up" then they couldn't do this.

  • @Khalednazari said:
    That's called freedom of speech.

K so something about "freedom of speech" on the internet is that a company like BHVR does NOT have to give you free speech. If they want, they can delete your posts and ban you, which they do. Freedom of speech only applies to the GOVERNMENT. Not to privately held businesses. BHVR has no obligation to let you say anything you want. If you want to do that, buy your own web domain. You can post whatever you want there and no one can stop you.

  • If you use RM or DL then tunnel away, because you have a perk that tells you to do it. But if you don't use them and still tunnel, unless the survivors put you in that position you're just a trash killer. Sorry it's the truth.

  • But... you always had to hit the BT guy twice to down them. The mechanic is literally the same as before, only with new UI and name. In fact it's weaker, since the timer ticks down even while you heal/mend.

Maybe try finding another victim while the guy is on the hook instead of just waiting around for someone to show up. Like a good killer would do.

    @Raccoon said:
I play Freddy/Leatherface, usually, mostly Freddy.

So wait, are you one of those Freddy's that just sits by the hook and sleeps people when they save, then tunnels the guy that got saved? Bravo, you are an amazing killer. Wow. So much skill. I bet you think NOED is require on him too. SMH

I play Freddy too and I don't camp, or use NOED (except one build that's all end game perks), or tunnel (unless I use Dying Light). Honestly even though he's the weakest killer in the game, he is still not a bad killer. That's more on the player.

  • Only if it comes with another perk called "That's No Moon".

  • The answer is simple. The Entity hates this person.

Seriously, it’s just a loop fest.

Survivors loop. And, if they’re good enough, you can’t mindgame w/o spirit. If you try to chase and hook one, boom! 3 gens, right there. And with DS we have to catch them twice to actually get them. And most loop, causing those last 2 gens to pop. Then there are flashlights. Loop, slam. Blind. This toxic behavior is unacceptable.

I really hate being the dick to say this stupidly overused sentence but, git gud man. The game is the easiest its ever been for killer.

@ScottJund I love you bro. No homo.

  • I'm not saying hiding like that never works. I'm saying that when you think the killers sees you, chances are they probably did and you should move sooner rather than later.

  • DUDE it is not a fact that GG is for trolling. GG = GOOD GAME. Nothing more nothing less. It's been that way for the last 20 years of competitive gaming. You are the only only assuming anything. Intention is irrelevant when you take it at face value like a normal ######### person.

Like talking to a wall. A very thick wall that twists every possible thing someone says as being toxic BM. I have been playing competitive games since 2002, and have played games against others online since the early 90's. I have NEVER seen someone say GG as a way to be toxic. Literally never. If someone plans to be toxic, GG is the last thing they would ever say.

    @thesuicidefox said:
@Orion I bet you are the type of person to scream at the customer service rep for trying to help you because you think they are only being polite for a paycheck. God forbid people actually have some manners.

I'm pointing out the difference between how you intend to come across and how you actually come across. People you talk with aren't usually mind-readers, so they don't know how you intend to come across; all they've got is their own perspective. Since "GG" in DbD is mostly used to really rub it in after you made the other side's game as devoid of fun as possible, even well-intended people will be misunderstood, thanks to the #########.

Since we're being judgemental, you strike me as the type of person who blames a misunderstanding on the person who didn't know what you meant to say, because you implicitly expect everyone to know your intentions.

My intention is GG. Nothing more nothing less. If you take it for something else that's one you. Really not sure what you expect could be said that can't be irrationally misconstrued to be something else. Because everything people say online has to have some malicious underlying meaning and not just mean what they say.

  • This reminds me of some stats that were collected from Gears of War tournaments. Up until Gears 4, the competitive mode was 4v4 Execution (a last-team-standing elimination mode for those that don't play). The game is broken into rounds, and you need to win 4 rounds to win the map (and you usually play best of 3 or 5 maps).

Someone did an analysis of "first death" and the outcomes and found that the team that got the first kill had something like a 75% chance to win the round (ie. the game drops from 4v4 to 4v3). The team that got the first 2 kills had a 95% chance to win. And if you got the first 3 kills you have over a 99% chance to win (basically a 4v1, you can't come back from that except in EXTREME circumstances).

It was very interesting because it meant that games actually came down to the opening plays and not end game plays. And thinking about the series of events it makes sense. You get a kill now it's 4v3 and you will likely secure the crucial weapons on the map because you have a numbers advantage. Once you do that, you now have a weapon advantage too, which can snowball.

All of this is part of the reason that the Gears devs created Escalation in Gears 4 as the new competitive mode. However, IMO as someone that has played the game since the original, Escalation isn't very fun. It's very competitive, and has a very robust meta, and is incredibly balanced, and is much more exciting from a spectator standpoint, but I don't find it fun like I did Execution or even KOTH because it's not very intuitive and having a full squad is basically a requirement at anything about Onyx rank.

  • @Orion I bet you are the type of person to scream at the customer service rep for trying to help you because you think they are only being polite for a paycheck. God forbid people actually have some manners.

So again… you want to expect all survivor to play like complete morons?

I expect there to be a level of uncertainty that can cause them to make mistakes. You seem to be confusing that with them purposely making bad decisions. Dude, if you aren't sure what your teammates are going to do it's a lot harder to make the right decision. But if you all agree beforehand "always do X, Y and Z" that gives you a SIGNIFICANT advantage over actual solo players, even if you don't have comms.

Good reading comprehension skills there pal.

  • @only1biggs said:

So you complain about them to know how to play the game?
Splitting maps, instead of clustering gens.
Leave and survive, instead of reckless safes that get you killed.
Just hit great skillchecks, if you can.
What do you expect survivor to do? Mess around all day and play stupid?

You clearly missed my point. They agreed before playing to do certain things. Things that in a normal game with solo survivors they probably wouldn't do. Example, "don't bother looking for totems" is something normal survivors wouldn't do. Even if you are a good solo survivor, if you find the totem you would do it. They didn't, which saved them time and effort. They also agreed to not save each other after the gates were powered and just leave. Something no normal survivor would do unless they had some reason too (eg. you are Rancor obsession, you expect Blood Warden, etc.). Is it smart play? Yes. Could a group of solo players with no comms also do that? Yes, but you have NO WAY to be sure they would. Which is the entire point. A group of actual solo survivors are less predictable than an SWF group with pre-determined tactics. You can't rely on the others to do gens while you are on the hook, you just hope they do gens. And you hope you are both on the same page because if you aren't you die.

It's certainty versus probability. Depip Squad members could be certain the others were all doing exactly whatever they expect they should be doing in that moment. Real solo survivors can't have that level of certainty and always have to play a bit more cautious in case they are wrong.

  • @Ryuhi said:
I dont understand what point you're trying to make... because people are admittedly toxic in other games, that makes it ok for you to be toxic here? Why would you want to bring bad sportsmanship to the lowest common denominator?

Dude this is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not being toxic towards you, you are ASSUMING I am. OMG I called you a baby, wow I'm soooo toxic. Yep. You should camp and mori me because of how much I provoked you with my bad manners. Seriously man, get over it.

GG means GOOD GAME. End of story. If you take it as anything else you are the toxic one. Someone can "BM" you during the game and still say GG sincerely afterwards, and if you are good sport too you would say GG back. It's part of the game. Stop taking offense to ######### that isn't real.

  • I used to run game tournaments dude. For like 8 years, multiple games multiple genres. Fighters, shooters, racers, Madden, etc. I can assure YOU that people do indeed act this way in person. It's far less common then it is online, namely because there is a chance you might get smacked across the face for it, but there are PLENTY of players that trash talk during an eSports game then shake hands and are cool afterwards. The FGC is actually one of the better communities in this regard, probably because it's all solo. When you get team games like shooters people have less fear of being an ass. Come to a Gears event and you will see exactly what I'm talking about.
