The old Asylum out-of-bounds exploit as well as the dropdown exploits that allowed survivors to trap killers as long as they wanted both led to bans I'm pretty sure.

Not that it would make much sense to complain about people getting banned for any of those, as they both were extreme cases of taking the game hostage. Pretty obviously something that should be punished.

It did lead to bans but they were unbanned/excused later and not because of the stardard ban expiring.

    As someone learning Python 3:

Every game..every ANYTHING will have bugs. Here's a hypothetical for you:

    BHVR makes new Meg skin.

New Meg skin somehow breaks her sprint animation so she looks like she's gliding.

That's game development..No, that's CODING for you, regardless of what it is for.

    Item A Breaks.

Fix A, but the fix breaks Item B.

Fix Item B, but now Item A broke again due to a line of code in Item B conflicting with something in Item A.

Fix Item A again, but now something in it is conflicting with Item X.

Fix Item X, but Item Q was borrowing some of that code before it was changed, so now Item Q does not work.

On and on and on it goes.

Coding is one big game of 'Whack-A-Bug'.

As someone with over 8 years of experience in IT as a developer.

If your code has bugs that KEEP REAPEARING AFTER EVERY PATCH you either get fired or get a lecture on how crap of a dev you are to never write any tests for your code.

What they can do is implement tests to prevent same bugs from appearing again but no, here we are, getting all of the bugs every few months.

Spaghetti code should have it's boundaries.

On the side note, skins do nothing to the game mechanics. It can stretch and glitch around but that's it. It should not prevent any action from happening as they are not even linked to one another.

Yeah, they were banned after the devs put out an announcement. What I mean is that after that incident it seems like the devs realized that's not how they want to deal with bugged perks and the like. They would rather try to at least stop people from posting literal guides on how to do it here on the forums, and patch it in their next patch as OPPOSED to banning for it.

I just mean that it's not some sort of bias (while Wake Up! was bugged there were MORE killer-side things that were bugged, and none were bannable), but a change in their approach to dealing with exploitable bugs.

I'm just looking at history of bugs and exploits in this game and so far people getting banned for killer related things are only complains I have seen whine none for survivor ones.

Also, QA is a heresy and whoever says that word in behaviour office gets burned at the stake.

Killers abuse bugs too, yet I didn't see a dozen threads a day calling to ban all the killers that went out of their way to load up into matches together to slaughter 3 survivors.

Bugs happen, report it & move on, especially if it's in PTB. If it's in PTB it should be a non-issue if you report it.

It's not ptb and people actually get banned for it (supposedly) if it's killer exploiting.

  • @oxygen said:

After the legion double blades incident it has become pretty clear they'd rather just try to prevent the spread of such bugs and then patch them when they can as opposed to banning. Just like they learned from the Freddy release fiasco they learned that banning isn't what they want to do (like how they didn't ban for stuff like wake up, PWYF, legion blades bug #2, thana bug and so on)

I'm pretty sure people were actually banned for exploiting double blades.

I don't know about thana bug but I remember clown bug with his finger licking fog of insta down.

  • @Carpemortum said:

Sprint burst? Because NOBODY used it before the patch right?

Actually it wasn't used before this patch if only anyone had anything else.

I'm not counting low ranks and new players because they don't know any better but purple and red ranks usually run meta perks and now instead of balanced landing and dead hard we have perk that prevents them from running ....

    It's funny right.

Killers: "WHY ARE YOU BANNING KILLERS FOR THINGS YOU BROKE"

Also Killers: "WHY AREN'T YOU BANNING SURVIVORS FOR THINGS YOU BROKE?"

I'd rather have them be consistent about it and ban everyone for exploiting bugs.

OF COURSE they aren't intentional and devs can see that barely ever used perk suddenly is used in every game.

  • @Visionmaker said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/572047#Comment_572047

So the Killer should've slugged instead. If all of that happened as you said, the Killer could have prevented it by slugging or waiting for DS to expire.

The perk activates if you are picked up within 60s of being unhooked. No more, no less. It is laid out in plain writing and there is no need to complicate it any further.

DS does not need to be changed just because you refuse to adapt to it.

Killer already downed and hooked one or two other survivors.

DS still activated after survivor decided to bomb rush the hook as they actually had nothing to fear.

  • @Visionmaker said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/571263#Comment_571263

Sure you do. It's almost as if the perk is working as intended.

There was a clip somewhere here where survivor got unhooked, run around for a while then after killer hooked 2 other survivors, first survivor which was streaming at the time went for the save, got grabbed and DS'ed away.

HE GOT TUNNELED SO HARD that other 2 survivors slipped and fell on hooks because of all that tunnelling.

  • @Shaped said:

I never tbag, point nor play toxic but people are still toxic to me regardless if I play killer or survivor. I never bring items to a game.

Yes shaking yout head is equal to tbaging how it is not?

By camping I mean hooking someone and not moving an inch away from it, waiting for tunnel.

@theArashi There are your answers so there is no excuse for being toxic to me.

Maybe not to you but if other survivors do that then killer might "discharge" on you.

Maybe previous game was extremely annoying for the killer and he is annoyed.

Or maybe he is just low ranked baby killer that can't catch a survivor.

Possiblities are endless and devs don't do anything to fight that so I guess we would have to deal with it.

  • @Shaped said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/568543#Comment_568543

Shaking their head after being looped for ages and finally downing you. Hiting you on the hook forever after they realised they couldn't mori you since you are on your first hook.

And most of them are camoers and tunnelers. Before you jump on the gun I know camping is strategy but camping after every hook is not fun when you are solo survivor.

So shaking the head is BM now?

By camping you mean staring you down or just hanging around the hook?

Before they hit you on the hook did you do something that made them angry at you? Maybe you were just too good at looping, you tbagging every pallet, or pointing whenever you had a chance, or insta healed in their face.

There can be many answers and cause doesn't have to be in the same game.

  • Of course not. We will definetely get a lot of bugs packed with it.

  • Thana adds 3 seconds to a single gen done by a single survivor without any skillchecks or perks or toolboxes to boost it even further.

If 4 survivor each sit on a single gen they will finish all of them in around 70-80 seconds.

With ruin even with tapping it will take up to 100-120 seconds.

With these gens done all survivors have to do is to finish 1 more gen to essentially end the game.

If one survivor is taking care of the killers aggro and there is no ruin, 3 survivors can finish all gens in around 3 minutes. Average chase time is somewhere around 20 seconds, and that results in a single hit on a survivor since chase ends when survivor is hit or escapes.

Survivors finish the game in 3 minutes and Killer has to finish 8 chases given that survivors are never saved and wait in line to get chased one after another.

Killers are already heavily pressured on time even with these perks and ruin usually lasts around 30 seconds and thanatophobia makes so minor of a difference that brown toolbox easily covers it.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Borrowed Time is supposed to punish tunneling off the hook. If its such an issue for you them perhaps try not tunneling off the hook?

The reason those two are such common "meta" perks are because there are so few viable survivor perks they use what can actually help them. That said, most of their perks dont have any effect if you dont tunnel and camp so the issue seems to be on you here...

You mean there are two supposedly anti tunnel perks. Borrowed time and Decisive and you have have all of them applied to you at once.

Maybe making it not work when killer hit or downed another survivor after unhook or something.

I don't have a problem with DS other then the fact that getting trapped in a bear trap doesn't nullify it(which is stupid looking).

DS needs some looking into though. Maybe make it so if killer downs or hooks another survivor or if you leave chase for more then X seconds it stops working. Currently survivors with DS will just rush other hooked survivors or just take the hit and use their get out of jail free card.

  • @Farlan said:

Your problem is simple. Learn to win without Ruin. I’m a killer main and haven’t ran it in almost a year and I pretty much only ever lose to good swf groups who ruin wouldn’t have stopped anyway.

Ruin is training wheels for survivor mains who wanna play killer more, same with noed

So your advice to the problem is to ignore it and just accept defeat if actually good survivors come by.

    GREAT.

@OP Best advice I can give you is to drop "nice" killer moves when it benefits you.

Tunnel a survivor if you are not pressured by them rushing gens, Slug to gain more time, Use mori if you think survivors you will go against will try to rush, use your best addons if possible.

Sadly, if you use weaker killers there isn't much to say other then know when to leave the chase, when to stay around the hook and when to slug.

General level of survivors at red ranks fell a lot since last year but it does not mean all of them are mediocre.

Out of 3 games I played with Huntress 1 shot addons I got 2 4man swf teams that played like crap and died quickly (even with insta heals and purple flashlights) and 1 team of actual great survivors out of which I barely got 3, with third one downed with long range shot.

Devs are pretty much bound on just releasing new killers and trying to fix the game lenght by using perks which won't work and I don't have any hopes of it improving any time soon.

  • What's the point of his power if it only affect sleeping survivors? Waking up with skillchecks is way too easy so his power is essentially useless.

  • I play it when I have nothing better to do.

Game actually got better for killers. Not because of anything devs done, mind you.

It has gotten better because the best survivors that actually wanted this game to be better already gate up and left. Behaviour clearly don't give a flying ######### about players since they can pump out cosmetics for money anyway.

Even in red ranks I keep getting potatoes to play with. Even if they are SWF and bound to bully the killer I just use powerful ######### like insta down hatchets of any of three good trapper addons or capitalize ultra altruistic plays.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

Erm there are PLENTY more windows like this still in the game.

    But don't worry, they're reworking 2 maps... a year... :/

Devs have a simple equasion that decides if they will rework anything:

    Does it bring more money?

Yes? - Have someone look into it, maybe.

No? - Ignore it. Ignore the questions in Q&A and if asked directly throw default answer: We are contantly looking into the maps/ No we are not doing ######### with them.

  • It allows spirit to be undetectable after crossing over 32 meters. It's not that big of a deal.

  • @GrootDude said:

You can’t force people to play. Iirc Marth is the only one still playing.

I doesn't have to be the same group. Just a pack of good survivors.

Still, devs never said game is balanced or they even intend it to be so. ######### it then.

Maybe because of the fact the event is over so maybe everyone isn't running an insane amount of shite anymore.

That, or the new disconnection punishments they announced is putting the serial DCers on edge.

Or you just got survivors who don't have the mental capacity of an infant and don't care about being the first one downed.

Oooor you need to play more Irihead + Mori Huntress.

I played that, and Omega Nurse, and Ebony Billy, Iredescent Doc and I don't get any DC's

Maybe it's because survivors I keep getting can show a fair game against Omega nurse but I wouldn't know.

  • @Casm said:

It's amazing people are complaining about DS now. 60 seconds of armor? Risk free? I'm not sure what game these people are playing but it certainly isn't DBD.

Assuming you aren't tunneling, it shouldn't be too difficult to find another survivor to focus on while the other gets rescued. If you're good enough at the game where you not only down and hook a different survivor but find the original unhooked survivor and down them in less than 60 seconds, then just wait a bit for DS to expire. You're already applying extreme pressure and are clearly in a winning position. If you get hit by DS, it's on you.

This is like survivors complaining about noed. If you die to it, it's because you allowed it to activate by not cleansing totems. If you get hit by DS, it's because you were impatient and didn't wait 60 seconds for the perk to deactivate.

Seriously, I see more people complaining about perks on both sides where it's the people complaining about it that are the ones that hold all the cards as to whether the perk is even used it.

    What?!

Imagine playing trapper(if you even play killer).

Survivor gets unhooked before you even went further then 15 meters away from the hook after you placed trap nearby.

Survivor 1 is injured, Survivor 2 ran straight into the trap. I come back and smack survivor that isn't trapped and then the other one.

How am I tunneling? Should I ignore obviously stupid plays and ignore stupid plays?

That's the game I had today at rank 7...

  • @Slayer said:

    It needs to get removed

Not removed. Just made into perk that gives you escape if you really are tunneled and not just give you armor for 60 seconds regardless of your actions.

  • @HURRI_KAIN said:

You only hooked one after, and no you didn't tunnel either. 5 more seconds and DS wouldn't have hit you. But you were slugging with no gens done, and many hooks already, which is pretty sweaty and toxic of you. At the same time, they are bum rushing the hooks, or you wouldn't have had that many hooks so fast.

And he still got hit by "anti-tunnel" perk.

  • @TRB124 said:

Please leave DS alone. It’s a very situational perk now, it’s only active for 60s and only activates after being unhooked. That means it’s only active 2 times in a match for a survivor to take advantage of, assuming they are saved off hook.

Green mori is active only 1 time during entire match.

Rancor and noed are active only after game is already won for survivors, hence it's fine.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/447102061?t=04h52m47s

I was this streamers killer in that game, hooked 2 different survivors after and got ds'ed by the streamer.

Shouldnt have tunneled I quess then.

Filthy tunneller. You should be banned for that.

"Perk's fine. Killer just want 4k's"

  • @Raccoon said:

People complain about NOED, but think that endgame DS / BT is fair, when they create literal "impossible" situations for people that play "fair"/don't try to eliminate survivors asap.

BT works as Intended. It is supposed to get you out at the cost of other survivor risking it for you.

While I don't like it, it's fair enough.

I don't think DS should work if you got unhooked after gates are powered as you can't really tunnel at that point.

On the other hand having survivor that was just unhooked use his immunity to save other survivors or keep it after someone else got hooked is counter productive. It's just old DS. You can't tunnel someone after you hooked someone else ffs.

  • @Condorloco_26 said:

Anytime there's an obsession in play, just tunnel everyone to take it away a early as possible.

That way it won't bite you in the endgame.

Most of my games all 4 survivors run it.

It's too much time wasted and I don't really get to choose who to go for I just go the place where scratches lead and find a survivor.

  • Maybe it would be better to make timer last 30 seconds but pause in chase.

  • @martin27 said:

I do miss the good old days of DS where you could make your life easier by going after the obsession and watching them dc the second they go down after using up their DS. I do think it's better as they can use it to protect themselves from tunnelling.

It's good that perk protects you from being tunnelled but if I go to the other side of the map, hook someone, go back, find a survivor and still get DS'ed, it doesn't feel quite right.

  • @gambit92 said:

So let me get this straight. You want them to change it again. Lmao. Armor for 60 seconds. Plan on complaining about deliverance next too. Omg they get off the hook sooo easy now, even though they have to safely save someone first. And if they use ds during endgame so what. I really need people to stop complaining about perks. Im amusing your build is Noed. Ruin. Sloppy. Nurses 😆

I don't remember last time I even used Noed, it's crap perk anyway.

DS is annoying because survivors know how to abuse it.

You claiming it isn't a problem doesn't change anything.

  • @DaS_only said:

I think a lot of rank 1 Killers are quite good. They are not perfect, and they do mistakes. But they usually arent boosted animals who only win with noed. At least thats my experience. Also keep in mind, the depip squad is orignally killer mains so they arent even the best survivors to beginn with

Indeed they weren't survivor mains... and they still destroyed every killer.

Now they would have few extra powerful perks that would boost them even further.

  • What about situation when killer downed 1 other survivor and then went after just unhooked guy. It's normal if survivors farm each other but why should killer be punished for it? He already downed other survivor so he isn't tunnelling anyone.

  • @Rasinbran said:

    Stop tunneling

I'm not talking about tunneling. I'm talking about survivor with DS taking a hit for others because he is safe.

Also you can't just leave him alone as coordinated teams will leave 1 survivor with your to keep you busy while others work on gens.

Investing 1 minutes is too much.

  • Of course, As far as I remember they played against everyone that challanged them.

If they used current perks and items that would be ...

  • One thing I hate about new freddy : waking up by failing skillchecks.

What's the point of even being asleep if you can wake up so easily and nullify his power...

  • I've met few survivors that actually realised simplest thing: DON'T APPROACH ######### SPIRIT WHEN YOU ARE NOT SURE IF SHE IS PHASING.

Get out of her FOV and walk towards different direction.

  • At 3) - You mean initial GF buff that made him not HILARIOUSLY WEAK?

Or the recent nerf that made him stand on top of freddy's shoulders on ranking ladder?

  • Killer above all else.

Solo survivor is hard but hard to survive and not hard to win. Winning as survivor isn't hard unless I mess up badly.

  • I like the fact that I don't have to risk damaging my hearing to try to listen to the survivors.

  • @AetherBytes said:

Love the idea, but give the survivors an option to lean around corners like GF, just to ease it a bit.

    Fine by me.

    Anything would be good.

  • I'd like to point out that pig being able to sneak up to a survivor fixing a gen is a problem but Ghostface while is supposed to be a stealth killer makes as much noise as a traffic jam in a middle of a large city while trying to do so.

I'm all for it. Perks and such can be redesigned and why even remove ability to look around while fixing the gen. It can still be done from FPP.

  • OF COURSE IT ISN'T!!!.

DEVS CLEARLY STATED: 'Now that we have enduring covered, we can revisit all stun perks and adjust their lenghts if needed'

Of course they never even bother touching anything but enduring.

  • I'd rather see a counter to gen rush... or insta heals... or toolboxes... or other completely unbalanced things survivors have in their arsenal.

And if anyone says use ruin or apply pressure they clearly don't know how the game looks when experienced players play on both sides.

  • So pretty much break the shade of balance that exists.

They are HUGE buffs, not some minor changes.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 17
