  • there are so many because they are like zombies and turn you into one too.

At least that happened to me. I was left on the hook soo often after saving someone that i just dont take a risk anymore, because noone cares about you anyway, why should you care.

  • Well, i play both sides as well, but as a survivor, i play mostly solo.

And the hatch is what keeps me playing the game if the first one suicides on the hook or disconnects. because you still have a chance of escaping, even if the rest of the team gives up or just messes up.

I mean, how satisfying would the game be for the killer if they all just stand around waiting for you to get them if you killed the first survivor with the first hook? If most of your games where that way?

As a killer (which i play only 40% of the time, though), i dont mind if one gets the hatch, especially if i destroyed the team.

Fact is, the matchmaking in this game is horrible, and its hard to argue about the fairness of a hatch mechanic if the whole setup can be unfair from beginning of the match (like you are in with teammates with way lower skill than you and the killer, or a new killer facing a red rank swf squad.)

I think the hatch is needed to keep the game rolling.

IF they would ever make different ques for swf and solo survivors, i can imagine the hatch being gone from the swf-matches, as one of the balancing aspects, but i doubt they will ever make seperet lobbys for swf.

  • I play solo, and a lot of survivors are toxic.

Imagine you dont run self care and come to a gen with a guy, but he refuses to heal you, and works on the gen. Ok, you join in, in hope he heals you afterwards. But i had guys that run away when the gen was finished to work on the next.

But then, if the killer comes, you know why. Because most killer will go for the easy prey that is downed with one hit instead of two. Those survivors even bodyblock you to make sure you are closer to the killer and they get away.

A lot of survivor just see you as a bag of bloodpoints to farm for them. You cant rely on them, and they hang you out to dry if it helps themself. i run kindred and in several games i get to struggeling on first hook while the killer is away, and every survivor has the information that noone is coming. They just don´t care for you.

Yes, and thats why i selfcare.

But i should say that i suck at chases and rely on stealth. i can juke killers, but its harder if you leave a visible blood trail.

  • @gantes said:

If lobby dodging is ok for one side it should be for everyone. Nothing wrong with something that gives survivors some level of information to decide if they want to play the game or not.

Obviously they shouldn't know what killer they're going against but the killer's username should probably be in the lobby just like the survivors'

Well i would be fine with it, if killers and survivors had the same information about their opponents, including infos about swfs. As you said, everyone should decide if they want to play the game or not.

  • At this point, i dont belive matchmaking will be fixed. Instead, they will tell there is a new secret matchmaking going on, and we wont have any info about its measurement so we cant complain about it.

Doesnt solve the problem, but will maybe fix the complaints.

  • But the problem still is,if the high-skilled killer dont play anymore, what will the new matchmaking do to make up for it?

  • The hardest ranks are obviously the early ones. you are in them, because you are a new killer, but this game sets you against red rank survivors anyway. cant get much more difficult than that.

  • has nothing to do with high rank killers, you play vs the same survivors as a rank 15 killer

Neither of those characters are available for shards, so we will not be using them in Tomes. Only characters that can be purchased with shards are eligible.

Sorry, i was refering to the first claim, but there were posts afterwards, which i didnt realize. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Well, actually it is running pretty good. Although i made a few changes.

First, i used to play every killer, more or less. Clown, Legion, Trapper, all of them (well, not nurse and billy actually) . Now, i dropped all except spirit and freddy.

I dropped ruin, and instead i bring a mori every game and tunnel hard. I often get 4ks (well, at least i count disconnects as kills in this). Sometimes more than one escapes, but that just happens.

  • it is? how do i get the shape and pig for free?

  • Teammates. Somwtimes it becomes obvious within the first 20 seconds...

the hatch is what let me keep playing these matches.

  • Well, there are killers that come back to the hook instantly if they didnt find someone else, so moving away from the hook to a save spot is actually not a bad move.

Eh, I don't pay much mind to what Peanits or anyone from BHVR says, to be honest. Peanits also said "We're not removing ranks from the tally screen".

He also said - and that infuriates me still - that with the ruin nerf, killers just derank to the rank they are comfortable with. But since i get all red rank survivors even at killer rank 15, thats really just laughing in your face.

  • Yes. There is no balance for killers. And thats why the comparison between voice com and stream sniping is valid, in my opinion, and therefore, should be handled the same. It might change when it is balanced, but right now, its not.

Allowing that imbalance just to happen to one side doesn´t help anyone.

  • yes, you have said that, but you are wrong. Giving solo survivors this buffs helps them, but dosnt balance the unfair advantage they have against the killer. Where is this balancing for the killer? he has only 4 perks, while survivors on coms have several in addition (the ones that now solo player have too, IF they chose to take the perk, so they are just one perk down each).

    Thats not balance.

  • well, that still is true for voice chat. The game was designed without voice chat, and it should be handles exactly the same way, for the same reasons.

  • The main problem is that every day there are two threads about keys on the forum. Since a lot of stuff got nerfed, people fear the keys might be as usefull as the instaheals in a near future.

    Same with toolboxes and moris.

I for sure use mine up as long as i can and get an advantage from them.

  • Well, i am colorblind, and requested a colorblind-mode for about 1,5 years. But the devs say its not a high priority, even though an option to change the color of auras as killer from red to almost anything else would help.

Scratchmarks and blood i can see only on indoor maps, on outdoor maps not at all.

I have to use such an option to be able to see the gen auras as a killer, so i really dont consider it cheating.

    Others might have similar problems.

  • @Coder said:

I had ONE good match. ONE.

A not so skilled huntress (though she wasn't bad, she was good enough). You know what we did? we all stopped doing gens. All of us, the last gen was being repaired by nobody, not because she was protecting it, but because we were all juking, trying to get a flashlight save, picking other people up the ground while she was trying to slug/snowball, unhooking... literally she lost the game like 10 minutes ago and we were all having fun, not caring about escaping or even if we die, it would have been better than the rest of the match I've escaped by holding M1.

It's really sad to see how the devs destroyed their own game and made it a boring and frustrating waste of time.

i got a swf doing that to me when i started playing killer. Taught me what toxic means, and that most swf deserve to be tunneled, camped and mori´ed.

  • My greatest moment of this when spirit was new, and i not only spawned in her terror radius, but with her red stain on my back. She could act before i could, and got the first free hit. That was a dam it moment to me.

All killers who rely on noed say it’s the survivors fault for not doing all totems. This is a fact. Unless you’re on swf, there is no way you can tell how many totems are left or have been done. It’s literally impossible unless you take it upon yourself as a solo player to go around and do 5 totems. What player is going to do that? Seriously, spare me the “it’s survivors fault”. It’s a crutch perk designed to save killers game at last moment if they’ve messed up all match.

I do it in a lot of games. Its easy 5k bps, in the boltness too, which i dont like too much and rarely max out (but it happens from time to time). There are just so many totem spawns, and once you get them, you can find totems easy and quick.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

A lot of those examples are well within the 6 level range. If you are rank 17 and going up against rank 13's that is only a 4 range difference.

    proof.jpg

When i add up all their ranks its just a 2 rank difference.

  • I used to help at the end, but i stopped. Too often all surivors are alive, and one is on the hook, and i take the risk to lure the killer away while the others get the unhook points, and when i get downed and die on my first hook because the rest turn out to be a 3-man-swf who don´t care about me and just leave.

Happend time and again in this or similar manners, so i dont take a risk anymore. If i can help without risking myself, good. If not, then *oh not i, i will survive, as long as i know how to juke i know i´ll be alive-singing*

Life as a solo survivor is hard. But could be worse. Could be killer.

  • So you are basicly upset because survior can still see and hear you, did i understand that right?

  • @Seanzu said:

Only toxic things in this game are Exploits & End Game Chat.

I don't see how t-bagging, which has zero affect on a match is "toxic" it literally does nothing at all, and as for "BMing", what even is that, pointing at the killer?

Because it is a gesture that originated in another game that was meant to insult and humiliate beaten opponents. If trying to humiliate and insult other players is not toxic for you, fine, but you have to accept that it is for others.

  • At the moment i run calm spirit, because of the doctor rework. About 50% of the killers i met so far were doctors since the patch.

  • I would like a fair and skillbased matching system.

And i would like it as a survivor (60% of the time) as well as Killer (40% of the time).

Why punish the player doing well because someone else had a bad team? That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Your response is exactly the one sided mindset that is creating toxicity in the game and giving survivors to expect to win every round because they got bad teammates. That's not the case at all. If you end up with a bad team, and can't turn it around yourself, then you lose. It's how it's supposed to be. If you can't handle that, then yes. Get a SWF, or play Killer. Or as the director has told players - go play another game.

Thats funny how you cal it one sided. Because i actually play both sides. Not equally, i play Surivor about 60% of the time, and killer only 40%, but that has its ups and downs both ways.

Yet, i do play both sides, and i see both sides. but if a 3k as a killer with one lucky escape is "survivors win every round" to you, maybe its not my mindset thats single sided.

  • But the problem with gaming today is this: once players moved on from a game, they usually don´t come back. So by the time they change the course the game is taking, it might already be to late.

  • i just deranked as killer for the first time since i play this game. And i will keep doing it. Why? I am basicly a rank 12-8 killer. Some time ago, the matchmaking did give me players in my rank range, and it were fun games. Then the matchmaking and ranking was changed, and ever since i got only red rank players when i am at rank 12-8, who highly outplay me. Thats just not my skill level.

So, i deranked for the first time out of frustration, and while i still get all red ranks game at rank 15 (can show screenshots), they dont happen so frequently anymore. My games are a lot less frustrating, and i finally can play other strategies than camping and tunneling, because i dont have to run around in circles for 2 minutes (the worst part of the game for me).

Well, it is not my job to balance this game, and if matchmaking and ranking is unfair anyway, why does it always have to be stagged against me? No, i use the system now, and for he first time in this game i can asses my skill as killer, something you cant do if you are constantly outplayed (also i dont play topkillers usually).

They might just fix the ranking and matchmaking system, and decide to balance once thay have fair matchmaking.

The whole concept of the Hatch is the very unpleasant feature of the game. OP has it right, all the Hatch has done is make Survivors instead of prioritizing generators, powering the gates, to escape. They prioritize fighting over the Hatch when things start to go wrong. This means letting teammates die on hook, sabotage their game play by sandbagging, or notifying the killer where there team are.

The excuse: "Your goal is surviving - not doing gens"

It's even worse for the Killer, as when the Killer does well that game, deserving the 4k. He loses a pip to a black pip in Purple/Red ranks because the last survivor takes the hatch, or camps out a door till the Hatch is close. Then just gets the door because it takes too much time for Killers to get to both doors before the Survivor just opens it themselves.

Even if you get to the door as it opens, they still can just take a hit and receives a sprint boost out the door.

"The hatch is important to stop Survivors from being able to take the game hostage by hiding"

You don't respond to players abusing issues in the game by giving them free wins. It creates entitlement, and toxicity among the community while at the same time ruining the game for the player that actually did well and deserved the win. I would sooner recommend that when there is only one survivor left EGC will activate. Doesn't complete the rest of the generators, doesn't open the doors, just EGC starts. The last survivor has to complete the remaining generators, and open the door before being taken by the Entity or the Killer.

"But there is no counterplay to that"

There is. It's called doing the objective before then. It's called saving your team so you have a better chance at completing your objective, and not relying solely on a free win mechanic to win. In a game where it's 1v4, then it should be expected the 4 people have to work together to each earn their win. Not just get lucky they were last to get the hook.

that means basicly only play swf. Random Survivors often disconnect when the killer finds them, or kill themself on the first hook.

Basicly, the game is over when the first survivor dies within a minute without a gen being done.

And thats not the killer doing good, its a survivor screwing his team, or a killer camping.

The hatch gives an incentive to keep the game running as survivor, because even if you fail, the last one still might get out. Sure, there are hatchcampers, but they are not as common as a lot of people claim, as well as those guys that do nothing at all during the game and then get the hatch undeserved.

So, without hatch games would go for about 2 minutes with random surivovrs, because one would kill himself/disconnect and the others would then too. Doesnt sound funny.

  • I usually answer that the entity likes salt and this way i could sacrifice the survivors tears, too.

  • Well, matchmaking is broken. As long as killers have to play against survivors way above their skill level, they have to ressort to camping and tunneling, or they could just go to the basement and dont move at all.

It the skill difference is as high as it is at the moment, killers cant even get survivors, and when they finally do, the game is basicly over. Yes, i camp and tunnel in this circumstances too.

Fix rank and matchmaking, and not even a 6 ranks hardcap. A rank 10 killer shoulndt face a bunch of rank 4 survivors, i think a 3 rank gap should be the maximum.

Then, if killers play finally at their skill level, they dont need to use those tactics anymore.

Also, you play killer, your friends play survivor, play against each other. Problem also solved.

Also, why should killers show fair play and sportmanship? Survivors never do, quite the opposite.

Pig is fun too, I hope you’re at least enjoying the games a bit. I play killer too and against some teams I just get absolutely demolished, but 9/10 times they still say GG at the end without bragging.

I do the same as survivor, especially in a case like all red rank versus someone lower. And if the game is lopsided I just leave at the gate, no teabagging or farming attempts made. Hopefully we all get a better match next game

The thing is, most teams only say gg if the demolish you. if you kill even one of them, its just flaming and insults at the end of the game.

GG in this community means "i won, you lost" 95% of the time.

  • If that were possible, i think some solo survivors would simply stop going for unhooks. If the killer camps, and you dont want to be unhooked then, why risk it (even if i have borrowed time, which you cant know before). If hes not camping, why go for the unhook if maybe another surivor is your friend, also going?

I think it would be abused, and thus reducing 3 hooks to one.

  • So, what you say is that ruin doesnt matter because its gone soon in the game anyway. Why needed it a change then? Can you explain?

During the trial, they are required to act like a team. It's even reflected in how the emblems distribute points. One survivor can not do it by themselves. Therefore - they are a team.

As well, if a killer kills 3 survivors before the gens are completed, they absolutely are entitled to the 4k and should have every advantage in their to get it. They've done their job efficiently and the survivors failed theirs. Your entitled survivor bias is already showing after one post. Don't go down this road. I've seen you try in other threads and eventually you back yourself into a corner every time.

Its nice how you completly ignore the question i asked you, because it is a real life example of why these things are not as easy as you want them to be. Still waiting for your statement on fairness.

  • I finish the game as fast as possible. I dont leave if another survivor is in trouble, but if i know they are not, i just leave. i belive thats more respectful to the killer than waiting for the egc-timer to run out.

  • Only if the matchmaking works out. As long as there is a heavy rank and more importantly skill difference in this matchmaking, its not less frustrating, because it isnt fair.

  • @Actually_Jesus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/985021#Comment_985021

It's amazing how you only think of it from the survivors point of view. Literally - the killer has killed 3 people before the gens were done...and all you're going on about is "well not it's unfair for the 1 survivor left". No, it's not. Their team lost. Their teamwork failed.

So, i have a question for you. For all of those basicly who speak about "deserving the hatch".

Yesterday, i had a game as survivor against a billy. He was very skilled, and slugged the whole team. By that time only 2 gens were done, and i have done them alone.

He then started hooking the survivors, and since he got far out to do it, i belived he had bbq. So i crawled behind a gen to hide my aura, and yes, he didnt find me. When the others have died, i crawled to the hatch, and escaped.

In the result screen, i was that: i was at rank 4, the killer was at rank 6, one surivoor at rank 8, one at 12 and one at 18.

So, please tell me: did i deserve the hatch, because i found it before the killer found me or the hatch, and i did all the work that was done (and had the other survivors performed the way i did me might have escaped), or did the killer deserve a 4k, because his tactic worked out, even though were was a high skill difference in his favor with at least 2 survivors, which made it basicly a 2v1 game highly in the favor of the killer? Which result would ahve been "fair" in your opinion?

Its a fact that the hatch is a thing that keeps you going even in unbalanced matches. If it were removed, the game would be over if one surivor disconnected or died on first hook and still 5 gens up, so the game could just end there.

But if its about deserving, how about this: Remove keys, and any survivor that did the equivalent of 2 or 3 gens gains the ability to open the hatch manually within 5 seconds. They would have done more than their share, wouldnt it be fair to escape then?

  • @PrincessPoop said:

All I will say is that I 4K far more often than I escape so.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

With me its quite the opposite. My escape quote as a solo survivor is about 70%, while my killrate is about 50%.

But there are several informations needed to access that information.

First, i play solo survivor in red ranks.

Killer i play around rank 8-12 mostly, and i play billy, nurse or spirit only once in a while. At the moment i play mainly clown, bubba, and legion.

I play surivor about 65% of the time, Killer about 35%, and i used to be a surivor-only player for the first months.

As someone that plays both sides, i would say yes, the game is very survivor sided. Several things are stacked in their favor. But the biggest problem they have are other survivors, who are either potatoes, just want to screw you over, or just dont care about you at all (farmers, for example).

Also, to rank up is a lot easier to survivors as to killers, so even if you get a killer at your own rank (unless its red rank), it is very likley that the killer is at a higher skilllevel than you are, so he can outplay you, and you dont even notice why he did better than you.

The main problem arises because now the game becomes balanced for those survivors, and nothing is done about swf. But even knowing you have allies who do something worthwhile is a huge bonus, even without comm. If comm comes to help further coordinate, the game is simply a bust for the killer.

But i dont think it can be balanced around both if you dont compensate in any way for swfs.

Thats why it is surivor sided in my opinion.

  • I think a lot of players should just switch sides from side to side to get a better grip on the game and the game balance, so the discussion could be a lot more educated.

  • Well, i am really curious where you encounter all those survivors that do nothing all game and just wait for the hatch? Who wants to play this game like that? I mean, there are hatchcampers that search the hatch and dont do anything after they found it, but only if only 2 people left (ok, once i got a guy who started it with 3 survivors left, but only once), but those survivors that do nothing at all all game?Never saw them, not even at rank 20.

I mean, the only argument you bring against it is "there might be some people who get the hatch that dont deserve it". But the same holds true for killers that get an easy 3v1 due to a disconnect. they dont deserve that kills either. Should a game just end completly after a disconnect?

1 … 53 54 55 56 57 … 60
